Jesus came to earth as a King. He offers to reign in the lives of believers until He returns to Earth and reigns forever. Christians who surrender control of their lives have the privilege of experiencing a taste of God's Kingdom - Heaven on Earth.
2. Born a King
This is the genealogy of Jesus
the Messiah the son of David,
the son of Abraham.
Matthew 1:1
3. Jesus – Son of David
[David] When your days are over and
you rest with your ancestors, I will
raise up your offspring to succeed
you, your own flesh and blood, and I
will establish his kingdom. He is the
one who will build a house for my
Name, and I will establish the throne of
his kingdom forever. I will be his
father, and he will be my son.
2 Samuel 7:12-14
4. Jesus – Son of David
[Mary] You will conceive and give birth
to a son, and you are to call him
Jesus. He will be great and will be
called the Son of the Most High. The
Lord God will give him the throne of
his father David, and he will reign over
Jacob’s descendants forever; his
kingdom will never end.”
Luke 1:31-33
5. The King’s message
From that time on Jesus began to
preach, “Repent, for the kingdom
of heaven has come near.”
Matthew 4:17
6. Rejection of the King
Then Jesus began to denounce the
towns in which most of his
miracles had been performed,
because they did not repent.
Matthew 11:20
7. New subjects of the King
[Jesus said] “Therefore I tell you
that the kingdom of God will be
taken away from you and given to
a people who will produce its fruit.
Matthew 21:43
8. God’s eventual reign over the world
The seventh angel sounded his
trumpet, and there were loud
voices in heaven, which said:
“The kingdom of the world has
become the kingdom of our Lord
and of his Messiah, and he will
reign for ever and ever.”
Revelation 11:15
9. God’s eventual reign over the world
And I heard a loud voice from the throne
saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is
now among the people, and he will dwell
with them. They will be his people, and
God himself will be with them and be
their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from
their eyes. There will be no more death’
or mourning or crying or pain, for the old
order of things has passed away.”
Revelation 21:3-4
10. What must I do?
Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell
you, no one can enter the kingdom
of God unless they are born of
water and the Spirit. Flesh gives
birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives
birth to spirit. You should not be
surprised at my saying, ‘You must
be born again.’
John 3:5-7
