À propos
I am a native Washingtonian with a lifelong passion for writing, beginng at my elementary school newspaper.
I have had more than 25 years of experience as a news reporter and editor. That experience includes three national political conventions, coverage of the rise and fall of Washington mayor Marion Barry and extensive writing about urban and race issues.
I interrupted my journalism career in 1991 to work for a year with a nonprofit AIDS education organization in Washington. There I got an insider’s view of the challenges the nonprofit sector faces as well as the severity of the AIDS crisis. When the organization I worked for folded, I decided to return to journalism a year later.
