Dear Sir/Madam
I am writing to complain about an article in last
Monday newspaper, ”Schools fail low income
children”. As the head teacher of one of the
largest juniors high schools in the city, i fell
strongly that the article does not describe our
school.
My school has children frommany different eco-
nomic background, but a large percentage come
from lower-income families. Nevertheless, our
test show that the children do well and benefit
from the excellent works our teacher do. Last
year our school moved from 24thto 5thplace ac-
cording to the official assessment by the state
government. This is clearly not the “failure” that
thearticlesuggest.
I would strongly recommend that more careful
research should be conducted in the future so
that your newspaper will more realistically de-
scribe the true situation in our schools.
Your sincerely,
Juan Gonzales

Chinese Group Demands That Japanese
Emperor Return Ancient Artifact
By Ankit Panda
February 13, 2016
Adding to growing list of diplomatic
disputes between China and Japan, a Chinese
group is demanding that Japan‟s emperor
return a 1300-years-old artifact that was
allegedly looted by japanese soldiers in the
1930’s. According to a xinhua report, the
artifact in question is the Hongiujing Stele,
orginally from “north eastern China”. The
request was made in a letter addressed to
emperor Akihido of Japan by China
federation of demanding Compensation
from japan (CFDC) via Japan’s Embassy in
China. The request has been prominently
report by both china‟s domestic and
international media outlet, suggesting that
part of intent is to same Japan for its actions
during the first half of the 20th century.
From Xinhua‟s report, it is unclear the
extent to which the chinese government is
involved in China Federation of Demanding
Compensation from Japan (CFDC) is a civic
group that asked the japanese imperial family
for the return of a looted Chinese relic. “The
group seek” compensation for personal,
material and spiritual damage caused by
japanese militarism during the country‟s
agression against China in the 20th century.

Webcams Make Alaska Bear
Accessible
Mark Thiessen, Associated Press, Anchorage,
Alaska, Sci-Tech Tue, July 24, 2012, 6:15 PM
A new video initiative is bringing the famed
brown bears of Alaska‟s Katmai National Park
directlyto computersand smartphones.
Whitout having to go there, you‟ll be able to
watch mature bears compete for salmon at brook
falls and other sites and cubs tumbling over each
other as they play. Starting Tuesday, a live web
stream (http://is.gd.bfPAs8) will allow the public
to log on and see the brown bears in their
natural habitat.
“I think its an unparalleled opportunity for
peopleto getthatfromrowseatof thelivesof the
bears at Brooks Camp”. said Roy Wood, chief of
interpretation for Katmai National Park and
Preserve.
The project is a partnership with explore.org,
whichsetupfourhighdefinitioncamerasinKatmai,
spokesman Jason Damata told to Associated Press.
Three of them are at existing viewing stands where
bearfanscometowatchanimals.
The cameras provide access to a national park
that is difficult to reach and expensive for most
tourist.Itsabout275milessouthwestof anchorage,
but no roads lead to Katmai. A trip there involved
multiple airplanes and a lot of advanced planning;
it‟s hard to get a lodge reservation at Brooks Camp
before 2014. Camping is allowed, but on a
reservationsystemthatgoesonlinejan5.
“Ittakesalotof time,alotof effortandalotof
money and the webcams will make it accessible to
anyone with access to a computer, a smartphone, a
tabletdevice,”Woodsaid.
When the typewriter was first invited, its
keys were arranged alphabetically. This made
the keys easy to find. however this arrangement
also caused the bars of the mechine to jam, or
get stuck.
To solved this problem, a new letter
arrangement was intoduced by Christoper
Latham Scholes in 1872. His system, the
standard keyboard system, is still used on
typewiter today. He arrangement the letters
in such way that as many bars of possible hit
the inked ribbon from opposite direction.
this resulted in far less jaming than what had
occurred with the alphabetical models.

Snakes
Snakes are reptiles (cold-blooded creatures).
They belong to the same group as lizard (the
scaled group, Squamata) but from a sub-group of
their own (Serpentes).
Snakes have two legs but along time ago they
had claws to help them slither along. Snakes are
notslimy.Theyarecovered inscaleswhich arejust
bumps on the skin. Their skin is hard and glossy
to reduce friction as the snake slithers along the
ground.
Snakes often sun bathe on rock in the warm
weather. this is becaus snake are cold-bloded, they
need thesun‟swarmth to heattheir bodiesup.
Most snakes live in the country. Some types of
snakeslive in trees, somelive in water, but most live
on the ground in deserted rabbit burrows, in thick,
longgrass,andinoldlogs.
A snake‟s diet usually consist of frog,s lizards,
mice,andothersnakes.Theanacondacaneatsmall
crocodiles and even bears. Many snakes protect
themselves with their fangs. Some snakes are
protected by scaring their enemiees away like
Cobra. The flying snakes glide away from danger.
Their ribs spread apart and the skin stretches out.

Circuses Should Not Use Animals
Animals should not be used in circus.
The environtment where they perform and
their living conditions are usually
inapproriate. Tigers, for example, which
naturally live in wilderness, must perform
tricks on a narrow stage and spend their
lifetime in small cage.
Besides, the living condition of the
circus animal are poor. They live in a
cramped condition most of the time. They
actually need more space to roam. They
also do not have freedom to live with their
own kind.
We should ban the use of animals in
circus and their confinement there.

Advertisements
There are many reasons for both sides of the
question, “should we have printed
advertisement?”. Many people have strong views
and feel that ads are nothing more than useless
junk mail, while other people feel it is important
source of information.
There are some reasons why we should have
advertisement in newspaper and megazines. One
reason is ads give us information about what is
available. Looking at ads we can find out what is on
sale and what is new in the market. This is an easy
way of shopping. Another reason is that
advertisement promotes business. When shop
owners compete against each other the buyer saves
money, more people come to their shops and they
sell more goods.
On the other hand, some people argue that
ads should not be put in newspapers and
megazines for these various reasons. Firstly, ads
cost the shopekeepers a lot of money to print
onto paper. Also some people don‟t like finding
junk mail in their letter boxes. Ads also influence
people to buy items they don‟t need and can‟t
really afford. Ads use up a lot of space and a lot
of effort has to be made to make the ads eye-
catching.
After looking at both sides of issue, i think
we should not have advertisements because they
cost a lot of money and take up a lot of room in
the papers. I don‟t think i find some of them
interesting. I mainly disagree because its junk
mail.

(B) (3)-(1)-(2)-(4)-(5)
(C) (3)-(5)-(2)-(1)-(4)
(D) (3)-(4)-(2)-(1)-(5)
(E) (3)-(1)-(4)-(2)-(5)
Tapeworms may be good for your brain
Tapeworms get a bad reputation. they are
varacious parasites that burrows into gut
walls and devour nutrients like a nightmarish
version of the very hungry caterpillar. But not all
tape worms are bad. In fact, one type
appears to protect againts memory loss in
rats. The discovery, researchers say, could
lead to new treatment for some neurological
diseases in humans, like Alzheimer‟s.
In the study, researchers devided 30 rats
into main groups: those infected with the rats
tapeworm Hymenolepsis Diminuta, and those
with clean guts. To test the potential
protection offered by H. Diminuta, the team
infected both groups of rodents with a one-
two punch: a mild case of Escherichia coli
shortly after birth to stimulate an immune
response, and an injection of
lipopolysaccharide (LPS) after they had been
“wormed” as adults. LPS is a noninfectious
component of bacteria that trips the immune
system‟s alarm, leading to a potentially
overactive response in the brain that can
include swelling and confusion.
Just as the researchers predicted, when
rats with worms were reintroduced to the
scary shock box, they froze in fear, indicating
they had a full memory of the previous day‟s
shock. But the wromless rats paused only
half as much, suggesting their memories of
the box were incomplete. The “wormy” rats
froze as much as the double control group
that was both worm-free and infection-free,
suggesting that the worms had somehow
protected the rats against memory loss after
the infection.

Dear Sir/Madam I am writing to complain about an article in last Monday newspaper, ”Schools fail low income children”. As the head teacher of one of the largest juniors high schools in the city, i fell strongly that the article does not describe our school. My school has children frommany different eco- nomic background, but a large percentage come from lower-income families. Nevertheless, our test show that the children do well and benefit from the excellent works our teacher do. Last year our school moved from 24thto 5thplace ac- cording to the official assessment by the state government. This is clearly not the “failure” that thearticlesuggest. I would strongly recommend that more careful research should be conducted in the future so that your newspaper will more realistically de- scribe the true situation in our schools. Your sincerely, Juan Gonzales pelaksanaan melaksanakan peralatan penyebaran menggagalkan namun menikmati penilaian kegagalan dilakukan menyatakan no answer kelistrikan

Whitout having to go there, you‟ll be able to watch mature bears compete for salmon at brook falls and other sites and cubs tumbling over each other as they play. Starting Tuesday, a live web stream (http://is.gd.bfPAs8) will allow the public to log on and see the brown bears in their natural habitat. “I think its an unparalleled opportunity for peopleto getthatfromrowseatof thelivesof the bears at Brooks Camp”. said Roy Wood, chief of interpretation for Katmai National Park and Preserve. The project is a partnership with explore.org, whichsetupfourhighdefinitioncamerasinKatmai, spokesman Jason Damata told to Associated Press. Three of them are at existing viewing stands where bearfanscometowatchanimals. The cameras provide access to a national park that is difficult to reach and expensive for most tourist.Itsabout275milessouthwestof anchorage, but no roads lead to Katmai. A trip there involved multiple airplanes and a lot of advanced planning; it‟s hard to get a lodge reservation at Brooks Camp before 2014. Camping is allowed, but on a reservationsystemthatgoesonlinejan5. “Ittakesalotof time, alotof effortandalotof money and the webcams will make it accessible to anyone with access to a computer, a smartphone, a tabletdevice,”Woodsaid. When the typewriter was first invited, its keys were arranged alphabetically. This made the keys easy to find. however this arrangement also caused the bars of the mechine to jam, or get stuck. To solved this problem, a new letter arrangement was intoduced by Christoper Latham Scholes in 1872. His system, the standard keyboard system, is still used on typewiter today. He arrangement the letters in such way that as many bars of possible hit the inked ribbon from opposite direction. this resulted in far less jaming than what had occurred with the alphabetical models. • 5. 32. We know from the second paragraph that .... (A) the Scholes system is still used now (B) C.L. Scholes is the inventor of the type- writer (C) the Scholes system arranged the letters al- phabetically (D) the original arrangement of the letters alphabetical (E) the arrangement of the letters in the Scholes system is not better than the original one 33. (A) like sucking the cool blood (B) avoid sun-bathing to their skins (C) never sun bathe in the warm weather (D) live on the ground in deserted burrows (E) require the sun‟s warmth to heat their bodies 35. We know from the text that snakes .... (A) do not have claws (B) do not like sunlight (C) have two legs and claws (D) use their legs to climb the tree (E) use their claws to slither along the ground 36. How do flying snakes protect themselves? (A) they fly away (B) they use their fangs (C) they scare their enemies (D) they stretch out their skin (E) they eat the other animal 37. Why does the writer consider circus inappro- priate place to live for animals? (A) it resembles the animal‟s natural habitat (B) it is the place where the animals are tortured (C) it is the place to get public amusement (D) it provides animals bad food (E) it costs animal ill condition Snakes Snakes are reptiles (cold-blooded creatures). They belong to the same group as lizard (the scaled group, Squamata) but from a sub-group of their own (Serpentes). Snakes have two legs but along time ago they had claws to help them slither along. Snakes are notslimy.Theyarecovered inscaleswhich arejust bumps on the skin. Their skin is hard and glossy to reduce friction as the snake slithers along the ground. Snakes often sun bathe on rock in the warm weather. this is becaus snake are cold-bloded, they need thesun‟swarmth to heattheir bodiesup. Most snakes live in the country. Some types of snakeslive in trees, somelive in water, but most live on the ground in deserted rabbit burrows, in thick, longgrass, andinoldlogs. Tigers, for example, which naturally live in wilderness, must perform tricks on a narrow stage and spend their lifetime in small cage. Besides, the living condition of the circus animal are poor. They live in a cramped condition most of the time. They actually need more space to roam. They also do not have freedom to live with their own kind. (A) Tigers are the most suitable animals to per- form tricks (B) Tigers are the smartest animal (C) the highlight of the circus is on the animals (D) the animals are the main performers in the circus (E) animals receive ill treatment in a circus 39. “They live in a cramped condition most of their time”. (paragraph 3) The underlined word is closest in meaning to .... (A) clean and neat (B) dirty and messy (C) poor and spacious (D) small and crowded (E) large and quite 40. Why does the writer present two sides of opinion of advertisement? (A) S/he wants to take side (B) S/he wants to be in the affirmative side (C) S/he uses opinions to emphasize her own stance (D) S/he wants the readers know the opinion about the issue (E) S/he wants to the readers to understand her stance 41. The writer influences the readers by repeatedly saying that .... (A) the ads are only garbage (B) the ads contain unimportant business information (C) the adspromote unnecessary service products (D) the ads inform us tips of easy shopping (E) the ads become the source of information 42. “Ads us up a lot space and a lot of effort has to be made to make the ads eye-catching”. The underlined word is closest in meaning to .... (A) newsworthy (B) subtle (C) plain (D) impressive (E) delicate Advertisements There are many reasons for both sides of the question, “should we have printed advertisement?”. Many people have strong views and feel that ads are nothing more than useless junk mail, while other people feel it is important source of information. There are some reasons why we should have advertisement in newspaper and megazines. One reason is ads give us information about what is available. Looking at ads we can find out what is on sale and what is new in the market. This is an easy way of shopping. Another reason is that advertisement promotes business. When shop owners compete against each other the buyer saves money, more people come to their shops and they sell more goods. On the other hand, some people argue that ads should not be put in newspapers and megazines for these various reasons. Firstly, ads cost the shopekeepers a lot of money to print onto paper. Also some people don‟t like finding junk mail in their letter boxes. Ads also influence people to buy items they don‟t need and can‟t really afford. Ads use up a lot of space and a lot of effort has to be made to make the ads eye- catching. After looking at both sides of issue, i think we should not have advertisements because they cost a lot of money and take up a lot of room in the papers. I don‟t think i find some of them interesting. I mainly disagree because its junk mail. menyoroti rongsokan terhadap mampu setuju pendirian berita halus biasa keren halus luas patut dipublikasikan

The discovery, researchers say, could lead to new treatment for some neurological diseases in humans, like Alzheimer‟s. In the study, researchers devided 30 rats into main groups: those infected with the rats tapeworm Hymenolepsis Diminuta, and those with clean guts. To test the potential protection offered by H. Diminuta, the team infected both groups of rodents with a one- two punch: a mild case of Escherichia coli shortly after birth to stimulate an immune response, and an injection of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) after they had been “wormed” as adults. LPS is a noninfectious component of bacteria that trips the immune system‟s alarm, leading to a potentially overactive response in the brain that can include swelling and confusion. Just as the researchers predicted, when rats with worms were reintroduced to the scary shock box, they froze in fear, indicating they had a full memory of the previous day‟s shock. But the wromless rats paused only half as much, suggesting their memories of the box were incomplete. The “wormy” rats froze as much as the double control group that was both worm-free and infection-free, suggesting that the worms had somehow protected the rats against memory loss after the infection. cacing pita rakus usus melahap mengerikan melawan menuju lubang ringan pembengkakan kebingungan truk terowongan menabrak korban gangguna
