Hydrix is Australia’s largest software & electronic design consultancy. Hydrix develops innovative and market leading products & services for its Clients for sale to global markets.Hydrix understands the challenges and excitement of bringing new products & services to market. Our core purpose is to help our Clients accelerate their global competitive advantage by developing innovative products based on engineering excellence and practical market application.Hydrix provides a full range of design and development services from initial design & development through to managing turn-key production.
A quick overview of Hydrix:Established in 2002 by a number of ex-Hewlett Packard and Robert Bosch EngineersThe team background is drawn from Defence, Automotive, Multimedia & Scientific markets. This means we have deep experience in designing reliable and robust products & solutions to global standards ISO9001 (Quality Design Process ), ISO 14001 (Environmental), AS4608 (OHS&E)Support services include Regulatory & Approvals – egC-Tick for Australia, FCC for US, CE for Europe etcIP search & Patent ApplicationsInvestment Sourcing
The Hydrix systems development process is structured around the industry-proven V-Model development process. Hydrix selected this model because of its focus on verification and validation at all stages of the development process thus pushing much defect detection and resolution back up-stream to earlier in the development process.The V-Model also has wide acceptance in the biomedical systems development space which requires the highest level of design process, performance and reporting required by the various government approval bodies in order to meet certification requirements.The typical development process at Hydrix consists of the following activities: Requirements Capture and Analysis; System Architectural Design; Product Design and Development (electronics, mechanical and software);Integration Testing; System Testing; Customer Acceptance;Each activity (or phase) has defined deliverables all of which are peer reviewed for quality purposes. Requirements traceability is performed across the entire development to ensure that the customer requirements are being addressed at each subsequent development phase.
The Hydrix software team has hands on skills and development experience of all layers of the software stack from operating systems to distributed applications for both embedded and desktop systems:Wide range of languages and Operating systems:C/C++, Assembler, C# / .NET, Python, Java, Linux, Unix, etcEmbedded SW for 8/16/32 bit processorsGraphical User Interface (GUI) I DesignLinux, Windows, Mac, iPhone/iPadEmbedded Signal Processing and mathematicsReal-time, multi-threaded applicationsMany Operating Systems and driversThe Hydrix electronics team uses leading edge technologies to create streamlined electronics architecture for all our Client products.System design & integrationDigital & Analogue circuit designPCB layoutPLC/FPGA/CPLD design & programmingRF/Wireless -125kHz – 20GHz (inc Bluetooth, Zigbee, WiFi etc)Design and verification to wide range of international standardsAccredited Hardware developer for iPhone/iPadPrototypingDesign for automated manufacture

The Hydrix team have worked with entrepreneurs, SME and multinationals in turning what has often been little more than an idea into a commercial product. Hydrix can review your IP for its strength and undertake IP landscape reviews to determine its defensibility Hydrix can also assist you to: Attract investment, grants and other funding;Determine the market potential;Define the product’s or system’s feature and functions;Develop technical specifications and architectures;Develop proof of concepts and functional prototypes for demonstrations, trade shows and investor briefings;Undertake detailed design and development;Manage other consultants as required (eg Industrial Design, Legal, Manufacturers, Test etc);
Hydrix has undertaken many applied research assignments requiring systematic and intensive theoretical & empirical study focussed on problem solving or the practical application of new knowledge.Hydrix’s expertise includes literature research, IP investigation, bench research, mathematical modelling, empirical test & analysis with practical application of our research findings.Recent projects include:Development of a patented noise reducing real-time digital signal processing algorithmInnovative circuit design to achieve an order of magnitude improvement in RF stability for a remote test probeDesign of an ultra low noise analogue based biomedical point-of-care test device using commercial chipsetsDesign and development of a real-time movement tracking and analysis system requiring very low bandwidth and processor overheadDesign and development of self cooling, extra-small form factor embedded deviceAnalysis and design recommendations for ultra-accurate volume measurement for a fluid nebulising mechanism for a critical hospital based biomedical device
The Hydrix team has wide experience in designing products to suit assembly lines or automated manufacture. This means reduced cost and faster time to market for our Clients.Our design for manufacture experience includes:Simplifying designs and reducing the part numbers;Standardise and use commonly available parts and materials (as appropriate);Design within the manufacturer’s process capabilities;Design for parts orientation and handling;Minimize flexible parts and interconnections, etcFor automated manufacture (ie robotic assembly and high speed automated assembly) design considerations include:design parts to utilize standard gripper and avoid gripper / tool change;use self-locating parts;use simple parts presentation devices, and avoid the need to secure or clamp parts.;use a minimum of parts or standard parts for minimum of feeding bowls, etc;use closed parts (no projections, holes or slots) to avoid tangling;consider the potential for multi-axis assembly to speed the assembly cycle time, etc
Hydrix have worked for some of the biggest companies in Australia and the US across many industries with a high level of repeat business
