The "Gift of Life" initiative is a non-profit program that performs free pediatric cardiac surgeries for underprivileged children in Nigeria with congenital heart diseases. Each year around 85,000 children in Nigeria are born with congenital heart diseases. A team of cardiac specialists from India will perform a minimum of 25 pediatric heart surgeries in Nigeria over 2 weeks. All medical care from admission to discharge will be provided completely free of cost. The initiative also aims to improve pediatric cardiac care facilities in Nigeria and train local medical personnel. Donations are being sought to support providing life-saving surgery and follow-up care to affected children.

Greetings to you and your Family.
The “Gift of Life” is a non – profit initiative by the Spiritan Self -Awareness Initiative Nigeria, working in
partnership with - the Aruike Hospital, Enugu, Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospitals, Naya Raipur, Chattisgarh,
India and the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Enugu to perform FREE of COST Paediatric Cardiac
Surgeries in Nigeria, for Indigent children suffering from Congenital Heart Diseases.
Every year around 85,000 children are born with Congenital Heart Diseases in Nigeria. This is a treatable
condition, if they can receive the urgent medical attention required to save their lives and to enable them
lead normal and healthy lives.
A full Team of Cardiac Specialist Surgeons from the Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospitals will be embarking on
a support mission to Nigeria for a period of 2 weeks, exclusively to perform a minimum of 25 Paediatric
Cardiac Open Heart surgeries in order to contribute to addressing this urgent need to save the lives of these
indigent Children with this Congenital Heart condition.
Surgeries will be followed up and Nutritional Assistance Programs will be provided to ensure that each child
treated receives proper nourishment to support FULL recovery and a healthy growth.
ALL CARE WILL BE PROVIDED TOTALLY FREE OF COST TO ALL PATIENTS, WITH NO CHARGE WHATSOEVER, FROM
THE TIME OF ADMISSION TO THE TIME OF DISCHARGE FROM THE HOSPICE.
The “Gift of Life” initiative also aims to provide an opportunity to improve the quality of Paediatric Cardiac
care and create Centres of Excellence for Sustainable Paediatric Cardiac Care in Nigeria and West Africa,
through improvements in Paediatric Cardiac Care Facilities, through Personnel Training and Exchange
Programs.
“GIFT OF LIFE” is thus, a project of Love, Compassion and Care and is beyond borders, caste, creed, religion,
race and colour in its reach and advocacy for bringing life to Children that are affected with Congenital
Heart Diseases. The Foundation through its “Gift of Life” program is earnestly seeking to collaborate with
individuals, corporates and Foundations from all walks of life, towards making this dream of giving LIFE and
the HOPE of a healthier tomorrow to the affected children, helping them to properly integrate into a vibrant
and healthy human existence.
