Monthly Summary: September 2021 — SuperBusinessManager.com

  1. 1.            BUSINESS MANAGEMENT  BUSINESS RESOURCES  BUSINESS JOURNALISM  BUSINESS EDUCATION  PERSONAL FINANCE  Hi! I am Jerry. I make business education accessible to everyone in the world by providing high-quality business resources. » Monthly Summary: September 2021 BY JERRY GRZEGORZEK ON SEPTEMBER 30, 2021 | MONTHLY SUMMARIES AND PERSONAL FINANCE   In order to reflect on my past life events and aid future planning for my family, I publish monthly summaries on the last day of each month. Writing a monthly summary is a great way to put my thoughts together in one place keeping myself accountable too. I hope you will find my monthly summaries both reflective and inspiring. 1. The Super Business Manager website WEBSITE VALUE: The current value of SuperBusinessManager.com is USD$134,450. I want to be very transparent with you when it comes to valuing my website, the number of readers and pageviews. Therefore, I decided to make those numbers public, always. You can find them instantly under the logo on the left side.  In general, when you value social media companies, the market pays USD$100 per user. However, I do it a bit differently. Here is how I calculate the value of my website: Website Value = USD$100 x No. of Articles + USD$10 x No. of Users. This year, I value one user at USD$10, not because I appreciate my readers less than social media companies, but because I want to leave some space for future growth. But, starting from January 1, 2022, the value of each reader will increase above USD$10. Also, the value of each of my articles will increase above USD$100. It is because my website is becoming a globally recognizable brand among business publications. And, all the articles published at SuperBusinessManager.com become interconnected making it easier to explore all that interesting business content. Super Business Manager 'Business knowledge is money, wealth and power' October 2, 2021   |   Website Value: USD$134,450 Articles: 285  ·  Readers: 10,595  ·  Pageviews: 79,622  HOME   ABOUT   AUTHOR   RESOURCES   SHOP   SERVICES   ADVERTISE   SPONSOR   ARCHIVES   CONTACT
  2. 2. ARTICLES: I have finally (finally!) finished writing about BUSINESS GROWTH, and started writing about ECONOMIC OBJECTIVES AND POLICIES and the impact of politics on businesses.  I published 21 articles in September. The total number of articles published so far at the Super Business Manager website has been 285 posts. READERS: In September, the number of readers was 5,182 with 18,099 pageviews. Since launching the site at the beginning of 2021, the total number of readers has been 10,595 with 79,622 pageviews in total. TOTAL in 2021:  10,595 visitors. 79,622 pageviews — September, 2021:  5,182 visitors. 18,099 pageviews August, 2021: 1,562 visitors. 7,513 pageviews July, 2021: 1,274 visitors. 7,938 pageviews June, 2021: 824 visitors. 6,598 pageviews May, 2021:  435 visitors. 5,543 pageviews April, 2021: 410 visitors. 9,493 pageviews March, 2021: 610 visitors. 11,894 pageviews February, 2021: 214 visitors. 11,257 pageviews January, 2021: 0 visitors. 0 pageviews OBJECTIVES: I am sure that you have already read the article about Business Objectives of the Super Business Manager Website. I described a rough plan for the next 10 years for the development of this site.  In the first year of running SuperBusinessManager.com, the business objectives for my website include:  1. Surviving by publishing regularly. / STATUS: On track! 2. Increasing brand awareness among readers from around the world. / STATUS: On track! 
  3. 3. 3. An overall increase in readership month by month. / STATUS: On track! In short, in 2021, I hope to write and publish around 365 articles, get the first 1,000 readers, reach between 12,000 and 120,000 pageviews in total, and earn the first money between USD$12 and USD$120. REVENUE: This website has already started generating its first revenue. Earnings tripled in September comparing with August which is fantastic! It is the beauty of Passive Income that you can earn money every month no matter you are awake or asleep! In general, my website makes money in five different ways:  1. ADVERTISING. / So far, mainly from Google Ads placed throughout the site. 2. Affiliate marketing from recommending world’s best RESOURCES. / Will work on joining different affiliate programs soon. 3. Selling my own publications in the SHOP. / Not yet, I am delaying it to focus on writing high-quality content first. 4. Providing business-related SERVICES. / This is my part-time work that keeps me busy from time to time. 5. SPONSORSHIP. / You know, I mention a lot of companies and products. THE YOUTUBE CHANNEL: I record a video for each article published (except Monthly Summaries). So, you can either read the content or listen to it – up to you! The secret purpose of recording those videos is mainly to do final editing of the articles as I read them out loud.  The total number of videos published so far has been 276. The total number of visits to my YouTube channel increased from 1,327 in August to 1,721 in September. The number of visits to my YouTube channel grows steadily at around 30% each month.  Check my videos on YouTube » SOCIAL MEDIA: I am very glad that the numbers of connections, ‘friends’ and followers across all of my social media accounts have been steadily increasing. I use social media solely to promote new articles. You can find my social media accounts either in the top right corner, on the AUTHOR’s page, in PRESS KIT, at the bottom of each article or in the footer. Honestly, I do not really engage much in social discussions in other places online though. I focus mainly on my website and my YouTube channel.  This month, I did some deep cleaning of my social media accounts. I unfollowed hundreds of accounts that belong to companies and people that I am not really interested in (e.g. fashion), make no sense for me to follow them (e.g. accounts in the Arabic language), I do not want to have anything to do with (e.g. promoting LGBT communities, fortune telling, get-rich- Business Objectives of the Super Business Manager Website 
  4. 4. quick schemes or fanatic religious groups), or where I see no value (e.g. Bitcoin, cryptocurrencies and other speculative schemes). As of today, I only follow 34 social media accounts that belong to world’s leading business media organizations. By following only few accounts, I try to eliminate unnecessary noise to stay focused. These business sources truly are the best in the world, if you are looking for business content. Check out the list which I grouped into six different categories: 1. BUSINESS NEWS AGENCIES: Bloomberg; Reuters 2. DAILY MARKET INFORMATION: Yahoo Finance; CNBC; Market Watch; The New York Times; Wall Street Journal; Financial Times 3. BUSINESS MAGAZINES: Forbes; Business Insider; Fortune Magazine; WIRED; Money.com 4. ENTREPRENEURSHIP: Entrepreneur; Inc. 5. INVESTING: Seeking Alpha; Morningstar, Inc.; TheStreet; The Motley Fool; Investor’s Business Daily; Investing.com; Benzinga; Barron’s; Investopedia; Zacks Investment Research; Kiplinger 6. BUSINESS MANAGEMENT KNOWLEDGE: Harvard Business Review; Stanford Business Magazine; MIT Sloan Management Review; McKinsey Quarterly; MIT Technology Review; Knowledge@Wharton; Strategy+Business; The Economist 2. Personal Finance INCOME: Steady and as forecasted. Actually, slightly better as we are approaching the end of the year than my original forecast that I had done last year in December. I usually make plans for the following year at the end of December. I managed to secure another salary increase this year.  My wife’s commission (or annual bonus) will no longer be paid once a year. From this year onwards, half of it will be paid after the first half of the year (H1), and another half will be paid after the second half (H2). This is good news and bad news at the same time. Good news because she can receive half of the money faster, so we can invest earlier putting that money into hard work. And, the bad news because there are no more TAX advantages on her annual bonus due to recent changes in laws and regulations. Meaning, she will have to pay higher TAX.   SPENDING: Our annual costs are divided into Fixed Costs, Variable Costs and Maintenance Costs of income-generating assets.  1. Fixed Costs are the same every month within a 12-month period. They are highly predictable and fairly stable – account for roughly 90% of our total spending. Our Fixed Costs mainly include Rent, grocery shopping and utility bills.  2. Variable Costs are different every month. They can be either 0 or very high – account for 7% of our total spending on average. Our Variable Costs include any hospital visits not covered by our private health insurance, flight tickets or shopping for clothes to name just a few 3. Maintenance Costs are only a small fraction of our annual spending – account for no more than 3% of our total spending. They are mostly 0, but sometimes paying for a broken water pipe or painting a wall is necessary.  My Different Types of Income 
  5. 5. SAVINGS: We managed to save 85% of our Net Income in September.  I am hoping that there will be no major crisis until in the next three months, so we will be able to maintain this fantastic saving rate until the end of 2021. In 2021, we will most likely end up with saving 86% of our Net Income. That is not bad at all!  However, with the second baby on the way, our spending may grow a bit. With babies it is always difficult to predict what happens, so I am not planning too much.  INVESTMENTS: Not many changes here. Slow growth. It is expected because I mainly invest in the least risky way possible to protect the capital and generate stable and predictable passive income.  This month, a few of the 2-year deposits has started to mature. I had started them back in 2019 with the interest around 2% back then two years ago. So, this month I have some extra work to do to reinvest the proceedings. Now, I am currently setting 3-year deposits maturing in 2024 with higher annual interest rate at 3.5%. Fantastic! In 2021 and 2022 I will have around USD100,000 to reinvest, maybe more. If you want to sit in the shadow in the future, you need to plant a tree today! I have read that saving rates offered by banks in the US and Europe are super low these days at around 0.5%, But, the FED in the US is planning to increase interest rates in the US as early as the end of 2021 or the beginning of 2022. Here are my other current and future investments: Full-time jobs. Me and my wife have highly-specialized professions. As you already know, I teach Business at international schools in China, while my wife sells European technology software to Chinese customers. We invest our time, freedom and energy to keep our full-time jobs going.  Part-time jobs. These are side projects that we do from time to time to bring extra income and boost our family budget. Again, we invest our time, freedom and energy. Real Estate. We own residential real estate. Both real estate and businesses are two great ways of building wealth and storing wealth. People work every day and spend time at home every day. Bank deposits. I invest in certificates of deposits (CDs) which is a fixed income financial instrument offered by majority of the banks around the world. I am building the snowball allowing numbers to grow exponentially over time. I just need to wait long enough for patience to finally pay off. In China, Certificates of Deposit (CDs) are protected (insured) up to RMB500,000 for each bank account.  Online business. I invest my remaining free time mainly in two things – my family and my own online business which is this website. It is a great benefit because it allows me to work on my own projects under our own brand. Stocks. I have started preparing myself for stock market investing in the medium-term future. Perhaps from early 2023, I am planning to start buying marketable securities. I will be mainly focusing on simultaneously investing passively in Index Funds and investing actively in dividend stocks of multinational companies. Most likely, I will be using the 50-50 
  6. 6. allocation split between Index Funds and individual stocks to build the portfolio, and dollar-cost averaging to add shares instead of trying to time the market and buy a big position at one time. Index Funds (50%): I have already prepared the list of 10 potential ETFs. It includes the popular ETFs tracking total stock market, S&P500 Index and NASDAQ, as well as smaller ETFs trackinghigh dividend yield, utilities, developed markets and small-caps. The three brokerage companies include Vanguard, BlackRock and State Street. Individual stocks (50%): I am currently working on preparing a list of companies for my portfolio. So far, my broad list includes around 300 companies listen in the US. But, I will perhaps boil it down to as many as 150 businesses to finally short-list only a handful of around 20 great businesses to invest in anytime. Those 20 fantastic companies will be (1) very well-established multinational corporations with long history of success and strong recognizable brands, (2) having predictable future earnings based on proven business models, (3) generating decent profit margins from large product portfolios and (4) having strong balance sheets including lots of free cash flow and low debt. Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs): If I ever liquidate our residential real estate, most of the proceedings will most likely be invested in REITs. This will allow me to keep being invested in the real estate sector of the economy, but in a more liquid way than owning physical apartments. In this way, I will not have to be tied to any specific location.  Currently, I keep an eye on around 20 popular REITs mainly from the US market. ASSETS: I split our family assets into three major categories such as Liquid Assets, Illiquid Assets and Income-generating Assets.  1. Liquid Assets include mainly cash in Chinese RMB and foreign currencies that we hold such as USD, EURO and PLN. We do not keep much money in this way. 2. Illiquid Assets include debtors that owe us money, my wife’s housing fund, my wife’s public pension fund, insurances and school fees for children that my employer covers. Illiquid Assets are much larger than Liquid Assets. 3. Income-generating Assets include real estate, bank deposits, online business and dividend stocks (currently none yet). Most of our family assets are invested to generate passive income.  LIABILITIES: The only temporary debt that we have are credit cards. We currently use two credit cards to pay bills and shop for groceries. We do it to benefit from a grace period (the amount of time you have to pay your balance in full without incurring any interest) to delay spending cash by around 1.5 months. In this way, I am able to start investing in deposits a bit earlier, so they will mature earlier. Cash is king! We always make our credit card payments on time, every time.  We do not have any mortgages or bank loans. Our apartment was paid in full in cash. We are completely debt-free and on the way to financial independence as early as in 2023. At that time, I will be 36-years-old and my wife will be 35-years-old. NET WORTH: One of the popular mainstream strategies for building a model portfolio is to have 40% of your Net Worth allocated in your primary residence (house or apartment) with the remaining 60% invested in various investment products such as Index Funds, Stocks, Bonds, Real Estate, etc. My General Investment Strategy and Investment Principles 
  7. 7. Currently, only 20% our Net Worth is allocated into our home. My wife and I own the apartment in Zhanjiang, Guangdong Province, China. It is a 2-bedroom apartment with additional huge living room connected with the dining room; has two bathrooms, two balconies and beautiful park view. It is located on the 26th floor of the high-rise building in the modern gated community with the swimming pool. That apartment is around 10 minutes walking-distance from the beautiful beach with palm trees. This is our primary residence. Zhanjiang is a very fast-growing city which is becoming one of the sub- centers of Guangdong Province.  Check my pictures on Instagram » The remaining 80% of our Net Worth is allocated into investments, mainly residential real estate and bank deposits.  Last month I mentioned that I am planning to double our family’s Net Worth in the next four to five years through hard work and investing responsibly. I do not really like the idea of writing down the specific numbers how much our current Net Worth is. The number fluctuates every month and I also want to keep it private.  FINANCIAL GOALS: 1. Financial Independence. If you are financially independent, you can afford to do what you like, not what you have to, and work by being motivated with something else than just money. People become financially independent usually by saving a certain amount of money every month over a long period of time. In the end, they end up with a huge amount of money. 2. Early Retirement. Financial independence often equals early retirement. This is where the FIRE movement come from. FIRE = ‘Financial Independence, Retire Early’. The idea of early retirement is very appealing to me. The most important factor that allows people to retire early is that they save a big portion of their salary every month. By maximizing our monthly savings, we strive for financial independence that will lead us to early retirement.  3. Freedom. When you retire early, it means that you have freedom. You are also time rich. So, you can decide how to spend your time. Secondly, you are able to shape your own reality instead of reacting to someone else’s arrangements. Also, you can create valuable networks with people based on values and feelings rather than transactions dictated by money. You can abandon your tedious past to make new fantastic reality. Once retired early, we may go traveling around the world with our kids which is a very unique experience that the kids could perhaps never be able to afford otherwise. Another idea that I have is to move to Scandinavia and buy a wooden cottage by the lake in the woods. Will surely write more about this one day! 3. Family Happily, my wife has already bought lots of stuff for the new baby. She is over 7 months pregnant. So, we are slowly expecting NiuNiu to be born and join us in this world. The due date is December 8, 2021. Keep your fingers crossed! Sadly, my grandpa passed away this month. Both of my grandparents put a lot of effort in raising me up when I was a kid. So, it was extremely sad news for me. I used to spend every single summer holidays at my grandparent’s apartment in Katowice, Poland. My grandpa used to bring me to the public park with swimming pools to teach me how to swim.  My Net Worth Allocations 
  8. 8. 4. Health My wife is doing fine now as she is getting more and more pregnant. However, it is becoming more difficult for her to move around. She had another check-up for the baby in the middle of September. So far, things are looking fine.   Yang Yang continues eating and sleeping well. He is a little bit more active and managed to laugh out loud beautifully a few times. He sounded like a small bird or a dolphin. It was such a joy to listen to his voice. He is just being himself, you know. Both my wife and myself, we truly enjoy every single day that we can spend together with him. Niu Niu, our baby number two, continues growing up in mommy’s tummy giving us strong kicks, and tornadoes, from time to time.  I was not feeling very well right after coming back to work at the end of last month, but things are a bit better now. I managed to run every Friday afternoon this month, but did not have much motivation to do weight training at home on Sundays. Unfortunately, I skipped a session or two which I am not very happy about. I really need to work on sticking religiously to my weekly exercise routine. My weight is around 85kg these days.  5. Traveling I returned to work at the end of August and started teaching from the beginning of September. So, no traveling except walking to school every day from Monday to Friday along the busy road. We visited a local bookstore as a family though, so I guess it should count as a family trip.  It is not easy to travel with small kids, so we are not making any definite travel arrangements.  6. Plans for next month Last month, I made the statement that I would be launching a few business eBooks and publishing some other business resources. Unfortunately, I still did not find enough free time to make it happen. Sorry guys! There are two main reasons why I failed at this task. First, my full-time job is occupying most of my daytime during workdays. And second, writing and editing all the articles that you read to publish them regularly takes a lot of my free time and energy.  Because I want to first focus on writing articles how to successfully manage a business organization that goes to the BUSINESS MANAGEMENT section, other tasks become not that important. My aim for doing so is to help businesses around the world improve performance, and educate new generation of leaders who make proper business decisions based on detailed analysis using reason. The BUSINESS MANAGEMENT section serves as the core content of my website. Therefore, I want to have it completed in the first place. All future publications and my online activity will be based on that core content. Sometimes trying to do too much is not a good idea. That is why I will only be focusing on producing the core content instead. 
  9. 9. So, I made the decision to withhold publishing anything in the SHOP until all chapters in the BUSINESS MANAGEMENT section are finished. The first chapter called BUSINESS ORGANIZATION has already been completed. I will try to also finish ECONOMICS in October. Then, in the next several months, I will be focusing on writing about the remaining four business functions: FINANCE, MARKETING, HUMAN RESOURVES (HR), PRODUCTION. STRATEGY will be the last chapter though. Many great things are coming. Stay tuned! I hope you will find my monthly summaries both reflective and inspiring. -- https://www.superbusinessmanager.com/monthly-summary-september-2021/
