Graphic Designing / Layout Editing

  1. 1. TOPICS: •LAY-OUT EDITING-basic principles of Graphic Design •Some tips in Layout Editing •Introduction to Photoshop (Basic tools)
  2. 2. What is Layout?
  3. 3. What is graphic design? •Graphic design, also known as communication design, is the art and practice of planning and projecting ideas and experiences with visual and textual content. Juliette Cezzar
  5. 5. 1. Proximity Proximity is also helpful in creating organization on a page, since similar or related elements should be grouped together to create a relationship between them. Ideally you might cluster the elements together in a way that helps to declutter the overall design.
  6. 6. 2. Hierarchy Can be accomplished in a variety of ways—larger or bolder fonts, placing your most important message physically higher than other pieces of information, or using shapes to frame the focal point.
  7. 7. 3. Balance • Balance gives a design its form and stability and helps to distribute the elements evenly throughout your design; this even spacing will offer an appearance that is professional and attractive instead of being jumbled and messy.
  8. 8. 4. Repetition Repetition is an important design basic because it helps strengthen the overall look of the design. It also ties together different elements to help them remain organized and more consistent.
  9. 9. 5. Alignment Alignment is an important fundamental of design, since it helps create a sharp, ordered appearance by ensuring the elements have a pleasing connection with each other.
  10. 10. 6. Color Color is a significant part of design and should be considered carefully each time you start a new design. Colors are largely responsible for dictating the mood of a design — each color has something a little different to say.
  11. 11. 7. Contrast Contrast happens when two design elements are in opposition to each other, like black and white, thick and thin, modern and traditional, etc. Contrast is what helps guide the viewer’s eyes to the most important parts of your design and helps organize the information in an easily digestible manner.
  12. 12. 8. Space The parts of your design you choose to leave blank are just as important as the ones you’re filling with colors, text and images. Negative space creates shape and can help highlight the most important pieces of information in your design. Never underestimate the power of simplicity.
  14. 14. 1. Know your strengths, capabilities and limitations
  15. 15. LEFTIST • If you cross your fingers right-over-left, you apparently are inclined to think critically before arriving at a first impression, and think critically when confronting problems or drawing deeper conclusions. RIGHTIST •Those that cross their fingers left-over-right, but weave hands left-over-right tend to go with their gut when it comes to first impressions, but give more logical thought to things when drawing deeper conclusions or confronting a problem that needs solved.
  16. 16. 2. Know the purpose of your design + + =
  17. 17. 3. It takes time to identify the perfect design. Take it slowly
  18. 18. 4. Be creative and innovative (Think outside the box)
  19. 19. 5. Don’t underestimate the power of simplicity
  20. 20. 6. Grow and learn more through researching and watching tutorials
  21. 21. v
  22. 22. Tools for Layout Editing
  23. 23. vv
  24. 24. If you wish upon a star and put your heart on it, all the forces of the universe will conspire upon that star. -Sir Dindo Ampalla
