2. From the research I have undertaken I have a good idea as to what
direction my magazine design will go. It will follow many of the
common conventions of other popular rock magazines, specifically the
magazine design which will appeal to a higher class audience. I will
also make it so that the common convention of masculine dominance
is apparent in the magazine. This will be done through the overall style
using appropriate colours and images. The colours will be mainly
dark with a distinct font style being used for the masthead and other
titles. The front page will include one main original image featuring a
person whom you would associate with the rock genre. The original
images will be in black and white to suit the overall tone of the
magazine.

Here is a very rough idea as to how the
front cover will be structured. The
layout is rather common in most
magazines. As I have said it will feature
mostly dark colours with some white in
the font to create contrast.

4. The contents page will follow much of the same design choices as used
on the front cover. It will be ordered and structured to appeal to an
older audience. The articles will be relatively articulate with particular
focus on the choice of language. The reason for this is to help attract
the C1 to D audience in the socio-economic grouping. Miscellaneous
information and advertisements such as flash, button will also feature
in this and other pages of the magazine. Dark colours will also be a key
design choice in the double page spread as with previous pages.
The double-page spread will also follow this layout with an original
image of the individual on the front cover. It will not take up an entire
page but will partially cut through the writing of the article. The
language will follow much the same style as with the previous pages.
