The RSS Revolution: Using Blogs and Podcasts to Distribute Learning Centent

Course management systems like Blackboard make it easy for faculty to upload content and make that content available for students. Traditionally, students have been required to locate new content once posted before manually downloading it. With the advent of RSS, faculty now have the ability to push instructional content to students in a variety of new ways, therefore automating the content distribution process. This session will provide an introduction to RSS and discuss how blogs and podcasts leverage RSS to automate the delivery of content. Examples of educational applications of blogs and podcasts will be shared and strategies for using blogs and podcasts in conjunction with Blackboard will be discussed.
