Philosophy: Whole Person Paradigm Focus on all aspects Why use this? Helps you stay sane Helps you balance responsibilities
Mind (Vision) Ability to see what is possible, to see potential Represents desire, dreams, hopes, goals, and plans Examples: Complete a course Learn a new language Learn a new skill
Body (Discipline) Ability to bring vision into reality Requires you to define and accept reality Examples: Course assignments must be turned in Language has syntax, grammar
Emotional (passion) Drive that sustains discipline to achieve vision It energizes your life and gives you your drive Examples: Doing what you love Hobbies, Interests
Spiritual (conscience) Drive toward meaning and contribution Gives reasons to make sacrifices  Examples: Studying for finals

A Simple Learning Model The following techniques fall into these 3 phases

Mind (Organizing & Staying Focused) Setting Goals Short Range (next year) Mini goals (next month) Micro goals (next 15 mins) Time management Getting Things Done Week Plan Pomodoro Technique
Physical (Taking care of yourself) Eat right Healthy study snacks Balanced diet Sleep enough Recommended 7-8 hours Exercise consistently Move your body
Emotional (Staying motivated) Find your unique talents and your role in the world Find your strengths. What are you good at? Where do you like to spend your time?
Spiritual (Finding inspiration) Slow your life down Meditate, Pray, Yoga… Find a support group Join a church, etc. Find Inspiration Read your religious text Keep list of quotes Reflection Keep a journal
Brief Example Goal: Going to Art Museum How do you get there?  What is your preferred way? why? Google, read tour guide, ask friend, go with friends, etc.
