Sheltered in SF is a Truth Be Told project created to bring dignity to the homeless. We capture the documentary portraits of homeless folks in San Francisco. The purpose of the project is to encourage empathy and compassion by bridging a divide and connecting people despite their differences.

San Francisco’s current state of homelessness
How do we take these statistics and engage the prefrontal medial cortex. So how do we help our neighbors in need?
Hypothesis: Understanding creates compassion
land is a little bit cheaper in Utah, so what should we do here in San Francisco? We can talk about this for a while and I can talk about a few great ideas I’ve been discussing with people if you want to chat with me afterward. Here’s something that’s actually happening
It’s a one-stop complex, the first of its kind in the nation, where guests can sleep while they are routed into housing, rehabilitation, employment and other services crucial to keeping people off the streets.
The purpose of Sheltered in SF is simple: documentary portraits to bring dignity to the homeless.
It was created to bring education and awareness to the issue.
It was to reconnect people of different income with the purpose of creating community regardless of differences.
The purpose is to create empathy and compassion and inspire change in the way that people in san francisco treat and engage with homeless people in their community.
Our hope is to use the funds to continue capturing documentary style portaits and their before, during and after experiences at the Navigation Center. The hope is to show the impact and success of the project after the year long pilot is completed. At the very least we hope to humanize homeless people in San Francisco they’re viewed as neighbors in the community instead of objects between your car and the next restaurant you visit.
We’re planning to use the money from this evening for resources to continue taking documentary portraits and building the website. We also hope to create a gallery that visits multiple neighborhoods in San Francisco to create education and awareness throughout the city.
