Photos and a few words on my time as a 2010-11 Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar in Oaxaca, Mexico, and BetterGrads, an education startup I founded with the vision of building a platform that enables everyone to support the students at their local schools.
The ratios in slides 14-17 are college/career counselor to high school student ratios, with slide 14 as the recommended ratio by education nonprofits, slide 15 as the average ratio nationwide in 2000, slide 16 as the average ratio nationwide in 2010, and slide 17 as the ratio at the East Bay Area high school where we offered our pilot mentoring program in 2010-11.
