2. Quality is defined as the level of acceptance of a good or
service. It is a very essential requirement for any kind of
product. Every product should maintain the standard quality
level. In this 21st century of globalization market are becoming
more and more complex, that’s why every industry are facing a
high level of competition for their business. So the product
must fulfill the customer requirement. For this reason every
product should maintain the quality level.
Nowadays buyers are very much quality conscious and it is
possible to maintain a high Quality through inspection policy.
3. Quality is the standard of something as measured against other
things of a similar kind; the degree of excellence of something.
According to ISO 8402-1986 standard defines quality is "the
totality of features and characteristics of a product or service
that bears its ability to satisfy stated or implied needs."
In short, Quality is sometimes defined as "meeting the
requirements of the customer."
4. Inspection is the process of measuring , examining, testing or
otherwise comparing the Unit of product with the requirements.
Our PIS Inspection team provide following service :
1/ IPI: Initial Production Inspection .
2/ DUPRO : During Production Inspection.
3/ FRI : Final Random Inspection .
Here we discuss about Final Random Inspection procedure and
its report presentation.
5. 1/ Inspection room condition :
• Room lighting : 600 to 700 LUX.
• Inspection room is dry and clean.
2/ Inspection carried on Single Sample plan, ANSI/ ASQ
Z1.4/2008.
3/ Sample Size level–II.
4/ For AQL Critical-0,Major is 2.5,Minor is 4.0.
5/ For all Functional accessories check by, level-S3.
6/ QC/QA must have gold seal sample, Order sheet, Technical
sheet, Measurement chart.
7/ For FRI goods should be 100% ready ( Carton condition ).
8/ Carton Selection √nX1.
9/ Shipment Quantity is Conform when Offer quantity and order
quantity difference with in ±3%.
10/ Packing conformity depends on buyer instruction .
6. 11/ Style is conform when it is match with gold seal sample .
12/ All types of marking (Shipping mark, side mark, Warning mark)
cross check with technical file .
13/ All types of label Cross check with Gold seal sample/ technical
file / Buyer approved trims card.
14/ For Color shade variation tolerance is class : 4 , According to
Grey scale , ( Source AATCC ).
15/ Garments weight verification, for Knit ( GSM ), for Woven (
gm/pcs), for sweater ( Lbs/Dz).
16/ Measurement check 10% of selected sample .
17/ Measurement conform when total out of tolerance point is with
in 10% of total measuring point .
18/ Incase of hanger packed garments , Hanger must have
garments hanging capacity.
19/ Take picture of all defective garments .
20/ One inspection counting for single style and order .
7. Lot size?
Lot size means the number of units of product in a lot or batch.
Sample Size ?
The number of Units of product in the sample is the sample
size.
Defects ?
A defect is any nonconformance of the unit of product with
specified requirements.
Critical Defect ?
A Visual defect that is likely to result in a hazardous or unsafe
condition for an individual using of the product.
8. Major Defect ?
A major defect is a defect other than the critical defect or to
reduce materially the usability of the unit of product for its
intended purpose.
Minor Defect ?
A minor defect is a defect that not reduce the usability of the
unit of product for its intended purpose.
9. Review of technical files :
Inspector/s should review the necessary documents in brief and
tools need for inspection . If inspector have any question , pls
consult the section head or concern merchandiser.
Necessary documents:
• Purchase order ( P.O.) sheet .
• Packing list .
• Product specification.
• Measurement chart.
• Any special defect classification .
• Any Special instruction from buyer.
10. • Inspection carried on Single Sample plan, ANSI/ ASQ
Z1.4/2008.
• Sample Size level–II.
• For AQL Critical-0,Major is 2.5,Minor is 4.0.
If buyer have no inspection standard then PIS inspection team
normally follow this standard for final random inspection.

12. Carton selection :
• Receive packing list from supplier .
• Count the no of carton or cross check the physical carton no
with declared carton no in packing list
• Carton Selection will be √nX1. ( it will be ensure that no size
and color will be skipped ).
Packing and marking :
Check following against specification of technical file and report
the actual findings :
• Packing material
• Packing method,
• Inner and outer packing ,
• Labeling and hangtags,
• Shipping mark, Side mark,
• Packing condition,
• Packing dimension .
13. Quantity/ Assortment check:
Inspector Check following in selected inspection cartons.
• Number of pieces per export carton.
• Check style ,size and color assortment as per packing list
and carton marking.
• Check style ,size and color as per hangtag and poly bag print.
Style Comparison :
Inspector compare style against specification and reference
sample for the following points :
• Style.
• Construction ( such as Seam structure ) .
• Sewing method( such as types of stitching ) .
• SPI ( Stitch per inch ).
• Accessories
• Printing and embroideries.
14. Material :
• Inspector compare the material against reference sample by
touch and hand feel.
• Inspector conform the composition of garments cross check
against technical file /gold seal sample.
Color Comparison :
Inspector compare production garments color against reference
sample/Swatch by visual comparison.
Comment on color shade variation :
For class 5; Similar shade
For class 4; Slide shade
For Class 3 ;Noticeable Shade
For class 2; considerable shade
For class 1; Much shade
For PIS, color shade will be conform , when color shade variation
range with in Class 5 , Class 4-5, or Class 4.
15. Size Measurement :
• Measurement check 10% of selected sample .
• If 10% of selected sample do not cover all size , then inspector
measure 3 pcs per size accordingly.
• Measurement will be confirm when total out of tolerance point is
within 10% of total measuring point . such as if a garments have
10 measuring point , and you measure 15 pcs of garments so
total measuring point is 150 , and the tolerance is 15 pcs , so if
the out of tolerance point is within≤ 15 then the measurement is
conform/pass or vice versa.
Weight check :
Inspector compare production garments weight against required /
asking/Gold seal sample weight,
• For knit fabric we consider 5 pcs GSM for a single color.
• For woven we consider single pcs weight in gm.
• For sweater we consider Lbs/Dz.
16. Visual Quality Inspection :
1/Check workmanship according to the correct sampling plan .
2/ Indicate all defect in the garment with red arrow defect
sticker .
3/ Classify defect as major and minor .
4/ Due to the nature of defect ,that can not be classified as
major or minor defect or that is a huge repetitive defect , that
should be reported in percentage based on total sample size
under reservation / Remarks column.
Function Check :
Inspector check all Functional accessories, where, sample size
level-S3.
Any functional accessories must be check by open and closed
10 time .
17. Barcode Check :
• Inspector check barcode with technical file .
• Cross check poly bag sticker barcode with hangtag barcode if
poly bag barcode available.
• Inspector conform barcode see ability and readability.
• During inspection inspector scan the barcode and verify
barcode information.
Conscious some important issue :
• Bad odor/smell.
• Moisture and dump.
• Mildew.
18. Drawing of sample :
• Inspector draw one pcs sample when inspection result ok/ pass.
• Inspector draw two or three pcs defect representative sample
when inspection result not ok/ fail.
In both case inspector must keep gate pass .
Reporting :
• If possible write the inspection report in detail at site after
inspection complete.
• Show all type of non conformity including color shade , Defects
and remarks .
• Inspector must mention inspection environment ( Room lighting,
Cleanliness, weather condition , Inspection Place etc. )
• If Buyer have no any self reporting format then PIS inspector will
follow their own reporting format .
