Straight to Boxed Process
1. BU will advise you of styles they would like to change from hanging to boxed. As long as the style has not shipped, the modularity can be changed from
hanging to boxed.
2. A flow line cannot be go from hanging to boxed until the UPC is changed – the product will require a new style number.
3. The contract modularity will be changed for boxed product. Details here
4. ediTRACK process will need to be amended to reflect the change to boxed product. For full details, click this link.
5. For Packspec, a boxed form needs to be completed. You cannot ship without approval from Packspec. Details forapproved carton suppliers are in the
Packspec document. Full details below.
6. Follow boxed BPM guidelines when measuring garment and carton sizes.
7. Your Q&A tool will now reflect a boxed audit.
8. Only one size is to be placed in the carton. Do not mix styles/UPC’s in the carton. Pack the carton until it is full.
9. These garments must be shipped in Stockroom Packs attached to the hanger. A SRP is a polybag packed with multiples of the same stroke, size and
folded.
10. Please ensure the bags are heat sealed or taped and the product cannot move inside the bag. See pictures showing correct method of placing SRPs in
carton – please note side view showing alternate packing.
11. In all circumstances the total number of garments per stock room pack (SRP) must always be as the contract alloc pack qty. Broken SRPs cannot be
received so you will not be paid for the odd singles if you ship these.
12. Each product must have the hanger present in the correct retail position within the garment.
13. M&S have specific labelling guidelines that must be followed to ensure the smooth intake of product. Guidelines are situated here. If the guidelines are
not followed, the supplier will be held responsible.
14. Boxed product will always have a BEL attached to each SRP.
15. Five carton sizes are to be used, see Carton Matrix , please DO NOT use any other carton size.
16. Depending on the product, you will choose the best carton to suit and packing method, some hangers will be placed at the width end and others along
the length.
17. It is your responsibility to pack the garments with due care, using the correct carton size/quality and ensuring they are packed in the correct manner to
suit the product and carton size selected.
18. Instead of a transit label (TRL) attached to each single garment, a Box End Label will be attached to each SRP pack and outer carton.
19. The maximum weight of the carton should not exceed 15kg. If the maximum weight is exceeded, a ‘Heavy Lift’ or ‘2 man lift’ carton label should be
applied. There are no standard sizes for these labels. The only criteria is that they are clearly visible on the carton.
20. Only one piece of tape is to be used to seal the carton, with a maximum of 50mm overlap on the carton edge.

Process for Flow Lines
1. Once a product has shipped in a transit method, then it has to remain in this mode for the lifecycle of that style/UPC.
2. If the BU contact you to change a flow line from hanging to boxed, please be aware that this product will have to be given a new style number.
3. On all flow lines, the transit method cannot change without changing the style number.

Labelling
Each carton must have an Outer Transit Carton Label (OTCL) applied to the outside of the carton. An example of the correctplacement is
here.
If the supplier does not have their own in-house printing facility that follows M&S guidelines, equipment mustbe purchased fromeither
Avery Dennison or SML.
SML offers two solutions - a smaller printer for lower volumes, and a faster printer for higher throughput requirements. These are both
medium resolution units, and can only be used for OTCL printing. The contact details for SML are shown in their proposal.

The Avery solution offers a high resolution printer. The solution cost is higher, but the unit is capable of printing current TRL and BEL
labels as well as OCTLs. Thecontact details for Avery are shown in their proposal.

M&S have no preference on which of the solutions suppliers choose, but only equipment and consumables purchased from either Avery
or SML will be considered compliant. Avery and SML include security features in their equipment and consumables to enable our quality
teams to identify immediately if non-compliant machinery or label stock/consumables have been used. The supplier is 100% responsible
for all rework and compensation charges if the stock is rejected on arrival for non-compliant labels.
For any data or logistical queries, the Regional Compliance Manager will be able to assist.
