Design Thinking Action Lab 2013
• Doesn’t believe in school-to-work path.
• Most studies teach you everything in theory
but ‘practice’ is much different.
• They (graduates) won’t be entrepreneurs or
creatives because they will follow the path
the system lines up for them.
• School isn’t bad. Definitely recommended
people should finish their school.
• To apply what you learned in school
doesn’t always work in real life.
• We can change the school-to-work system
but change s tart with ourself.
• No other way unless everyone decides for
themselves not to follow it.
• Teachers nowadays are very bad in
western countries.
• Teaching SHOULD be the best paid job
because they teach the future of this
world.
• Teachers should focus on individual
student.
A young Dutch
entrepreneur at the
age of 17. Now 21
who ditched school
and currently running
a successful hotel
business in Cambodia
A friendly, busy, hardworking,
thrill-seeker, approachable
entrepreneur
understand and believe that
education (not schooling) is the core
real world practice or hands-on
matters most.
• Went to school
• Kicked-out 3 times
• Had problems with teachers
• Did 4 months of cooking class at a University
School-to-work path is not always
the way to get along with the
system.
In rare cases, our own ways are
explicitly better than the usual.
Formal education is recommended
so we always have something to
hold into - a firm foundation when
everything fails - but EXPERIENCE,
real world hands-on, still is the best
educator.
