He this idea on his mind for database.. It was file and forget idea untill advertisement by department of telecom appeared in the paper.. It talked about videotex… sanjeev said why don’t we make a job database.. Infoedge was shortlisted .. But alas DOT shelved it
Sanjeev and his partner go separate ways. Sanjeev was left with Infoedge and “job database”idea came with it… life went back to usual-reports, datbases, market studies.

Within a week there was a server.. Database and navigation was handed over to Anil.. Within a week a website was ready.. Naukri.co was up and running by late 97
Naukri.com began to get press coverage… he says free publicity is the oxygen of any business
Within 6 months of launch direct mail letter was sent out to 3000 HR mangers & recruiters. For 350 rs you could get list of job on site and 6000 annual
At break even sanjeev shut down every other activity- no more reports, no more datbase- all resources to naukri, this is the future
Truth was he was happy as a small company, operating from home… after years of struggle he could finally see the word profit in the horizon
They had deep pockets,sanjeevrealised the game had changed
In april, 2000… a company with a 36 lakhs turnover received 45crore valuation . A month later market crashed… so didn’t spend money foolishly
Every branch kept breaking even in 6 months, and before they knew it InfoEdge was a 300 person sales company with 10-12 offices all over India… today InfoEdge has1650 people of which 1200 are in sales
