This book is as new as you are.
It is strange but true: about things that are not said,
informed by the events that are happening around us,
and facts that are beyond dispute.

THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST
10
11
Foreword by
Prof. Abdul-Kadir John Alias Al-Dayrani
raise belongs to God, the Provider of the worlds; perfect
and complete communication with God and peace are
through the best of creation, our master Mohammad,
honest and truthful in his promises.
This is the end of time. Ignorance has prevailed and whim
has triumphed, desires have become deep-rooted in the spirits of
humanity, and the illicit has become permissible while what is
permissible has become illicit.
Indeed, people have opened the doors wide for licentiousness.
Deep darkness and black night have thrown horrible shadows
over the hearts and spirits of humanity, after the thick mists of
civilization have veiled the true realities from people’s eyes. As a
result, they have sunk into the gloominess of drinking and
rakishness in an attempt to forget such facts. Humanity has
begun to live a life filled with anxiety and confusion, which has
overcome illumination and bliss and has veiled the light of
justice which controls everything. Alarm has crept into people’s
chests because of humanity’s oppression of humanity, which is
causing stormy suffering to overflow, such that our store of tears
has become exhausted due to the cruelty and blindness of the
people of this civilization.
There is a horrible incubus weighing upon the hearts of
humanity; spirits have settled for a humbleness that has exceeded
P

all bounds only in order to earn a bitter living; wrongdoing has
astounded all beings, although it issues from people who claim to
be civilized, humane and moralistic.
A great gala of whimpers has spread to every corner of the
earth now that the strong hold sway over the weak, men have
overpowered women and children, and the rich have control of
the poor. Cries of anguish and groans are following each other
in quick succession, and there is continuous suffering from
excruciating pain.
Virtue has been assassinated whereas vice holds the scepter of
principality, allowing it to multiply tragedies of shame and loss.
All noble merits have been buried as Satan has become the
absolute master over the spirits of humanity, to the point that
they have lost their light and happiness. Shyness has been
destroyed, paving the way for the devils to act freely. At this
stage, various sorts of affliction have begun to prevail
everywhere, and feelings of discontent are overwhelming
people’s hearts so that life has turned into an unbearable hell.
People have now neglected the Holy Qur’an, just as those before
them neglected the Gospel and Torah, causing the truth to be
obliterated. Humankind has rushed madly towards science—not
the science of the Grand God but rather the science of weak
creatures—and has taken it as a god.
They have kept aloof from the Source of all perfection and the
Lord of every bliss and pleasure; consequently, there is now no
way to enjoy happiness, and humanity has begun to drown in a
sea of misery and bitterness. God says: “Whosoever turns away
from My Message, truly for him is a life narrowed down…”
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress
1
20, Ta Ha ‘Ta-ha’ (Pure), verse 124
People have resorted to spirits and drugs and have quaffed
from them as a means to forget their suffering for a while. But
1 ‘Fortress’: this word means a ‘Surah’ of the Holy Qur’an.
Foreword by Prof. Abdul-Kadir John Alias Al-Dayrani
13
alas! No sooner do they sober up than they find the reality in
which they live to have become even more bitter and more
grievous, more savage and more tyrannical. This has become so
true that, in countries that are the sources of an illusionary and
delusive civilization, a large number of people have been driven
by hopelessness, frustration and despondency to resort to
suicide, and so dispense with all that had infatuated them in this
worldly life.
However, time has now finished its cycle, and the spirits have
become weary of shunning God. Diseases have encamped in
their bodies until their eyes have become dim and their hearts
are in their throats. Voices have begun to call people to turn
back to the truth, for persistence is wrong, returning is more
worthy, and repenting is better and more favorable to God.
The Compassionate and the Merciful is not pleased unless
He saves humanity from such degradation. Therefore, when
they shunned God and turned away from the Creator of all
universes and of the heavens and the earth, He drove all sorts of
distress, misery and scourges to them, and let them taste the
bitter outcomes of their tyranny, aggression, and corruption.
Having passed through a series of hardships, people then
turned towards their Provider, asking for salvation from the
Lord of salvation. Thus the Provider responded to their call,
telling them “…I listen to the prayer of every supplicant
when they call on Me…”.
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 2, Al-Baqara (The Cow), verse 186
God told them that He would change their unhappiness into
bliss and their heartache and worry into delight and airiness. He
gave them glad tidings that He would spread gardens and
everlasting felicity across their land. The time has approached
for a noble and great Envoy to be sent back to allow humanity
to live under the wings of repose and revival, feeling good cheer
and safety with satisfaction.
THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST
14
Such will be our state in the present life, when our master
Jesus Christ comes into view once again to be the lord of all
worlds in his age. Then, when we come back to God, He will be
pleased with us and will allow us to ascend from one degree of
bliss and happiness to others even higher and loftier.
In the past, the great Jesus was sent to this world in order to
give guidance to his people, to help them, and to rouse their
thought, so that they might move away from false happiness in
order to recognize the luminous and shining truth, and to gain
great benefits.
Although he (pth) spared no effort in showing them the right
path, and although he was made to bear countless difficult
troubles because he sought to help them enjoy happiness, they
did not listen to his logical speech.
They preferred to continue in their blindness rather than to
become illuminated by God’s Light.
In fact, love of this world is the reason lying behind every sin.
It inflames wicked desires in one’s spirit, and causes thought to
become inactive. If this love settles in one’s heart, such a
person’s life will be embittered and they will be exhausted, and
then they will be thrown into a gulf of vice and pitilessness. He
(pth) gave life to dead people and healed the lepers and the deaf;
he displayed many miracles before the very eyes of his people.
However, although they watched all these miracles, and despite
sensing and witnessing his perfect morals and kindness, they
denied his mission and were ungrateful for such a grace because
their hearts were fully attracted by the love of this world.
Furthermore, they accused him of dealing with magic (far be it
from him).
Their lowly interests prevented his sublime and unprecedented
merits from fully entering into their minds, just as their unsound
perspective prevented them from perceiving his high and sound
speech which came to them directly from God. They blinked at

15
his kindness, perfection, mercy and tenderness. Out of their
ignorance, they did not know the reality of the man with whom
they pleaded. In this way, they denied the Revelation, and put
their fingers in their ears in order not to hear the Call of their
Merciful Provider. Therefore it was inevitable that they would
descend from their high rank, thus losing sight of the lofty task
with which God had charged them. They uttered words of
unbelief; what terrible words they were!
They depended on sheer supposition rather than certainty
when they claimed that he (pth) was the Antichrist, and
defamed his faithful mother, the purest woman of any nation.
Addressing our Lady Mary on the tongue of His angels, God
says: “…‘Oh Mary! Al’lah has chosen you and purified you—
chosen you above the women of all nations’.”
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 3, Al ‘Imran (The Family of ‘Imran), verse 42
Thus it was as though they had fallen from heaven and been
snatched up by birds, or as though the wind had swooped down
and thrown them into a bottomless pit.
This was the reaction of the Jews to our master Jesus. As for
the Christians, when they ascribed godhood to him and his
mother (ptt), their perspective was absolutely removed from any
logic and reality; he (pth) was completely distant from
polytheism, which is the worst type of wrongdoing. It had never
occurred to his mind to obey anyone other than God, since he
was watching Him and was immersed in His Sublime Presence.
He was wholly preoccupied by God when absent from this
world and never separated from Him when he returned to it.
He was a witness that was seeing by God’s Light. What they
attributed to him (pth) was without grounds and did not exist
within him, for he had surrendered himself to Al’lah in body,
soul and spirit. I wonder, how did they fabricate such a claim
about him, although he (pth) was entirely innocent of it?!
THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST
16
All his actions and words (pth) refuted this belief, for he (pth)
spared no effort in warning them against false worship.
The noble verse referred to this when he (pth) addressed his
people, saying: “…‘whoever joins other gods with Al’lah, Al’lah
will forbid him the Garden’…”
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 5, Al-Ma’ida (The Table), verse 72
Therefore it is necessary to clarify the truth for everybody
through this book, The Envoy of Peace Looms on the Horizon:
The Return of Jesus Christ, wherein we shed light on the whole
story of Jesus Christ (pth). We also explain the indications of
the Hour which will take place before his appearance, on the
way revealing the intended meaning of ‘the Hour’, along with
many other important points. In dealing with these questions
we will depend on sound logic, referring to clear verses from the
Holy Qur’an and to perceivable and sensible actualities of life.
In this way we will rebut the untrue and baseless allegations of
certain people, which are completely removed from the reality.
This book is quite new. Its concept is unusual and
unfamiliar. However, it is not heresy, since the humane scholar
Mohammad Amin Sheikho (his soul has been sanctified by
Al’lah) derived his knowledge only from God’s Book, and from
the sacred sun’na of His Envoy
2
(communication with Al’lah
and peace are through him). Everything that is written in this
book is taken from his Qur’anic science. The reader will find the
meanings contained in this book quite strange, and no wonder!
Religion itself has become strange and new, because the
majority of people have put aside what God sent down, and are
following books ascribed to their forefathers.
Muslims have stopped using the Holy Qur’an, and confine
themselves to the Prophetic Tradition, to jurisprudence, and to
other sources, without taking into consideration whether or not
they agree with the Holy Qur’an.
2 The word ‘Envoy’ also means ‘Messenger.’
Foreword by Prof. Abdul-Kadir John Alias Al-Dayrani
17
The Qur’an is disregarded, hence religion has become new.
When we neglect the Qur’an and the contemplation of its
verses, we have neglected the whole religion. That is really what
has happened in this age, and therefore Islam has become only a
name and the Qur’an only a shape.
There is no benefit in most of the heritage that has come into
our hands in the form of books attributed to old legal scholars.
These scholars should have turned people’s attention to
consideration of the cosmic signs of Al’lah and to thinking of
the significance of the Holy Qur’an. Instead, however, they
filled people’s minds with foolish nonsense, fables, and Israeli
stories, and spent their time elaborating on unimportant issues.
Their aim in this was to turn people away from the path of
belief, to keep them from understanding the magnificent
meaning of the great Qur’an. They did so by leading them to
sink deep into an ocean of jurists’ contradictions and differing
views, so that one does not know which ideas to adopt.
Anyone who wants to travel through such an ocean must be a
skillful swimmer or have a boat to sail in and the companionship
of a guide. Otherwise, they will be swallowed up by the waves—
unless a grace from their Lord reaches them—and these waves
will throw them into the depths of darkness of suspicion, with
one layer of darkness on top of another. That is because “…any
to whom Al’lah gives not light, there is no light.”: a light by
which one can be guided in their deeds and affairs.
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 24, An-Nur (Light), verse 40
God says: “You who believe! See by Al’lah’s Light and
believe in His Envoy, and then He will grant you two portions
of His Mercy: He will provide a light for you by which you can
walk, and He will forgive you: for Al’lah is Oft-Forgiving, Most
Merciful.”
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 57, Al-Hadid (Iron), verse 28
THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST
18
Piety—that is to say, seeing by Al’lah’s Light (Al-Takwa in
Arabic)—is accomplished after entering into Al’lah’s Presence in
heart and spirit in the company of His Envoy (cpth).
3
The
Almighty Al’lah bid us to follow His Revelation, not to follow
the ways of our forefathers. He has not ordered us to take them
as Lords, listening to their words instead of the Words of God.
One should not be deluded by those millions of people who
are pleased with and believe in what their ancestors brought
forth. The fact is that most people are following nothing but
conjecture, although conjecture avails nothing against truth.
God says: “And if you obey most of those on the earth, they
will lead you far away from Al’lah’s Path. They follow nothing
but conjecture, and they do nothing but keep silent.”
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 6, Al-An’am (Livestock), verse 116
They are unable to rebut the truth when they are faced with
it. They have no answer, either in this world or in the world to
come.
Al’lah (glory to His Name) brought humanity into this life
and gave them guidance. He says: “Indeed, We take it upon
Ourselves to guide.”
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 92, Al-Layl (The Night), verse 12
For this reason He sent noble Envoys to them, to act as
teachers and leaders and to show them the way of belief. This
was so that they would not be misled by the majority of the
dwellers on the earth, so that they would not mistake the right
way. Those who do not join the school of the Envoys and follow
in their footsteps, and those who do not study and abide by
what God reveals through their tongues, are indeed advancing
in directions opposite to that of guidance. All humanity should
adopt the counsel of God’s noble Envoys and embrace the same
3 (cpth): communication with Al’lah and peace are through him.

19
path which led them to Him, the Almighty. We should enter
the same school from which they graduated in order to get their
degree; that there is no god but Al’lah. This statement was the
eye with which they saw reality, the ear with which they heard,
the tongue with which they spoke, and the heart with which
they perceived the significance of God’s Words—and it is He
Who knows all the secrets of this universe.
By your Lord! Anyone that has not graduated from this
school will not become a believer, even if they read the books of
both the ancient and the latter times,
4
even if they see the most
difficult of all things to achieve with their own eyes, and even if
the dead speak unto them.
God says: “Truth is attained by your Provider…”: by your
Provider, you, oh My beloved, Mohammad (cpth)! “…thus you
will never be one of those who do not see.”
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 2, Al-Baqara (The Cow), verse 147
As for those who do not seek to believe in God, He will not
grant them a light and a criterion by which they can distinguish
right from wrong, and between what is advantageous and what
is disadvantageous. This school does not close its doors. It is
always open to anybody who seeks knowledge about God or
about His Book, for such knowledge is not restricted to one
nation over another or to one time instead of another; The
Treasures of the Mercy of your Lord are not intended to be
bestowed upon one group of people to deprive another.
God says: “Such is the Bounty of Al’lah, which He bestows
on whom He will…”
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 62, Al-Jumu'a (The Congregation of Friday), verse 4
That is, God will certainly grant a portion of His Limitless
Favor to anyone who truthfully seeks enjoyment of His Bounty.
4 We will explain the way of faith at the end of the book.
THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST
20
The Almighty sent all His Envoys and His greatest Envoy (cpth)
as a mercy for all nations. He did not single out one nation to
receive this grace so that another would miss out. That is what
the noble verse indicates in God’s Saying: “Of the Bounties of
your Provider, We bestow freely on all these as well as those;
the bounties of your Provider, none are deprived of.”
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 17, Al-Isra’ (The Night Journey), verse 20
All creatures are alike in the Sight of Al’lah. When a person is
honest in seeking something, God will surely allow them access
to it. However, the law is that everyone receives in proportion to
their truthfulness and labor. God says: “…truly, the most
honored of you in the Sight of Al’lah is the most illuminated of
you by Al’lah’s Light…”
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 49, Al-Hujurat (The Private Apartments), verse 13
In the past, the Quraish tribe, which was the tribe of our
master Mohammad (cpth), denied his prophecy. They said to
him what is quoted in the noble verse: “What! Has the Message
been sent to him, of all persons among us?...”:
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 38, Sâd (The Letter, S = True), verse 8
They meant to ask: did God choose him alone out of all of
the people of Quraish?! Why him in particular?!
Indeed, he was not chosen to receive the Message only out of
all of the people of Quraish, but rather out of all of the people
of all nations. He was chosen because he (cpth) was faithful in
his intention and serious in striving to recognize the Creator of
this existence. He left no single gate in Mecca without passing
through it, left no valley without having walked in it, and left no
mountain therein unclimbed. He spent his days and burned the
Foreword by Prof. Abdul-Kadir John Alias Al-Dayrani
21
oil of his nights in thinking of the creation of the heavens and
the earth, until he came into knowledge with certainty that was
revealed to him by the Lord of certainty. In the meantime, the
people of Quraish were wholly immersed in amusement, play
and evening parties, completely distracted by the ornaments and
vanities of this world.
Before wondering about this, one should—even once—try to
follow the same way that was followed by this ideal person (cpth).
I wonder, can traditional belief or the reference to books that
were written in the past and which conflict with the Holy
Qur’an lead to true faith in God and in the life to come? Have
you not noticed how many verses the false interpreters pass over
without commentary in their explanations, as if they do not see
them? Has not God, the Almighty, commanded us to consider
the creation of the heavens and the earth?
The purpose of thinking about death in places of privacy is to
make the spirit renounce the transient and lowly life. The
purpose of contemplation of God’s creation in places far from
worldly pleasures is to recognize the Provider of all beings. What
explanation will they believe in after they have rejected Al’lah
and His Signs?
Are they waiting for guidance from the Lord of all worlds to
come to them by itself, without their seeking it, and without
following the same way that was followed by our father
Abraham (pth)? Is it possible for them to be guided without first
trying to make even a little effort?
How will God give guidance to people who spend their
lifetime in centers of amusement, and their energy in fun or in
foolish chatter?
Is it possible for God to give guidance to those whose hearts
neglect the remembrance of Him, who follow their own desires,
and whose case has gone beyond all bounds?
THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST
22
Had Al’lah willed it, He could have guided all of humanity to
what is right. However, what benefit can a human being derive
when it is driven to something by force? Will their spirit not
remain distant—or rather, draw even further away—if a person
is obliged to do something they do not like? True guidance is
only achieved when the human being voluntarily turns
themselves towards God of their own accord, in order to gain
the faith that is associated with witnessing what is real with the
eye of the spirit. This witnessing helps them to ascertain and
realize these realities, and become sure of them in their heart. If
they gain access to this kind of belief, when they say the
statement, ‘I witness that there is no god but Al’lah’, they will
witness the meaning of these words. This is because faith in
reality is accomplished by viewing with the eye of head during
the first stage, and then by viewing with the eye of heart.
In this stage, one can witness the Goodness and Justice of
God, and can feel His Mercy and Love flooding throughout all
of existence. Thus, they know with certainty that His
Compassion does not come before His Justice, and He—the
Almighty—does not give way to His Wrath before His
Clemency. He (glory to Him) stands firm on justice, and truly it
is He that is on a straight path.
God alone has goodness for the beneficent and the injurious
alike, and the one who does not witness this in this world will
witness it in the hereafter.
This is an absolute fact and since it is so, there is no injustice
among people, and since there is no injustice, there is no evil.
What we consider to be evil is but sheer goodness to the
afflicted one, because this evil will save them from a greater evil,
and this evil would not have befallen them if they had not done
something bad. Opening the belly is an evil act for the healthy
person but it is good for the one who suffers from a stomach
ailment. Injustice is done to one who deserves it, and the
oppressor directs their oppression only to someone like
Foreword by Prof. Abdul-Kadir John Alias Al-Dayrani
23
themselves. God says: “Thus We let some of the wrong-doers
have power over others because of what they are wont to
earn.”:
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 6, Al-An’am (Livestock), verse 129
Through experiencing such a disaster, a person might retreat
from their tyranny and remember their sin, and then totally
repent to God. At that time the injustice will vanish, and God
the Almighty might let them have power over those who
oppressed them.
This behavior is not limited to individuals, but also applies to
nations and peoples. The nation with more capacity for faith
than another will suffer from the injustice of a more oppressive
nation by God’s Order, so that it might turn to God and stop
its evil, in this way returning to God.
God will then change their sins into good deeds, and will give
power to the oppressed over those who had oppressed them.
This is not so that they can be attacked with violence and
revenge, but to make them return to the straight path of
righteousness and goodness.
By deeds, humankind is divided into three types:
1 The humane
2 Those who do wrong to themselves—‘oppressors’—and
act in a brutal way to achieve their whims
3 Those who do wrong to themselves—‘oppressors’—and
act in a devilish manner to achieve their low and mean
whims
This division applies to both individuals and nations.
Nowadays, the humane person in the full sense of the word is
very rare, and this leaves the oppressor and the more oppressive.
In this case, God gives a more oppressive nation power over an
oppressive one, so that the latter may cast its negligence aside

and return to its humanity. God will then change its weakness
into strength, its humiliation into glory, and its defeat into a
victory over those who visited wrong upon it. The purpose is to
help them, in turn, repent to God.
In this way all humanity can be rid of the misery they live in
and relieve themselves of all kinds of afflictions from which they
suffer.
But alas! What is going on in this era shows that hope in
humanity’s repentance to God is about to become impossible.
Therefore: “…the unbelievers, never will disaster cease to seize
them or to settle close to their homes for their (ill) deeds until
the Promise of Al’lah comes to pass, for truly, Al’lah will not
fail in His Promise.”
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 13, Ar-Ra’d (The Thunder), verse 31
For this reason, the affliction is impending and the Hour is
very near. Hence Jesus Christ (pth)—the Savior of humanity
from unhappiness and suffering, and from unbelief and
deprivation—looms in the horizon, and:
“…on that day believers shall rejoice with the Help of
Al’lah. He helps whom He will, and He is Exalted in Might and
Most Merciful: (this is) the Promise of Al’lah. Never does Al’lah
depart from His Promise, but most people do not understand.”

Preface
ews, Christians and Muslims are all waiting for the advent of
our master Jesus Christ (peace is through him); however,
every community of them has their own thoughts on this
question.
Jews believe that the true Jesus Christ will inevitably appear
in Palestine, ‘the Promised Land’, and therefore they have done
their utmost to put their hands on this country and are now
waiting for him (pth). They see that they have to provide him
(pth) with an area of this land, so that he can live among them
when he appears and becomes the king of the world.
Subsequently, they believe that he will raise their prestige in this
life over all of the other nations. In their view, the Jesus Christ
who came to this life two thousand years ago was a liar, and so
they are looking forward to the appearance of the true Messiah
in Palestine.
This belief is seen by the Jews as an absolute fact. This is why
you see that about 70% of the sons of Israel (Bani Isra’eel) have
now gathered in Palestine, due to their belief that the master
Messiah is certain to appear among them in the Promised Land.
Such a doctrine is completely different from that of our
brothers, the Christians, who suppose that Jesus Christ will not
come back in body, but rather will spread his spirituality over

the world once again so as to plant peace and safety everywhere,
and thus no more wars and no more trouble will smite
humankind until Doomsday.
With respect to the Muslims, they are waiting for Jesus
Christ in order for him to kill the Antichrist and the Jews, as
well as breaking the cross.
Now, the question is:
Where is Jesus Christ?! Is he on earth or in heaven?! Is it true
that he will really come back once again? What is the proof of
his return (pth)?
In the Holy Qur’an, God addressed His prophet Jesus,
saying: “…‘oh Jesus! I am going to take you back’…”
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 3, Al ‘Imran (The Family of ‘Imran), verse 55
Do these words indicate that our master Jesus has died, but
that God will bring him back to life again? In other words, does
this verse refer to his resurrection (pth) in order that he be sent
back to this world again? However we must ask, why would
God bring him (pth) into view once more? What about his
mother, our Lady, the Virgin Mary? Will he (pth) come back
alone or together with her (pth)?! Some say that he (pth) will
return, carried by two angels, soaring over the city of Damascus,
and then will be put on the minaret, called the Jesus Minaret, of
the Umayyad Mosque.
We wonder, is there any Qur’anic proof or logical evidence
referring to this?!
Will he (pth) stand by the Muslims or Christians or Jews?
Will he bring a new Bible that is different from the old one?
Will he instead reveal the truth that is stated in the Holy
Qur’an?!
All of these obscure questions—and many others—will be
clearly answered in this book, The Envoy of Peace Looms on
Preface
27
the Horizon: The Return of Jesus Christ, which presents unique
knowledge to us, all of which is taken from the heavenly
sciences of the great humane scholar Mohammad Amin Sheikho
(his soul has been sanctified by Al’lah).
This book is completely different from any other book. It is
quite new in its contents and introduces concepts that humanity
has never heard the like of before. However, it does not
introduce heresy; rather, it is based on God’s Book (the Holy
Qur’an) and the true Prophetic Traditions of His noble Envoys,
our two masters Mohammad and Jesus (cptt), which are in
agreement with the Speech of Him, the Almighty.
This book reviews a group of ruined nations that are
mentioned in the Holy Qur’an, clarifying the individual reason
for the ruin of each of them. Then, in an excellent way, it
explains the creeds and principles that are followed by the
people of the present time in order to let the reader judge for
themselves whether we are walking a path that leads to safety, or
if we deserve to meet the same destruction that afflicted the
previous nations discussed!
For example, are we going to be drowned by a flood like the
one that struck the people of our master Noah (pth), or perhaps
by a wind like the one that destroyed the people of ‘Ad? Could
we be crushed by a cry similar to the one that descended upon
the people of Thamoud, or annihilated by a cloud, as with the
people of Shoaib (pth)? Will we instead disappear under
earthquakes and be burned by volcanoes, as happened in the
case of the people of Lot (pth)?
This book contains explanation and cogent proof, leading to
the conclusion that the people of the current age deserve to be
utterly destroyed in a terrible Hour that will make children
white-haired. This Hour will be more bitter and more
THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST
28
calamitous than any of the scourges that befell either the nations
of old already mentioned or the nations that came after them. It
will be even more severe than any of the current disasters which
are taking place in the lands of unbelief and ingratitude for the
Grand God, including tsunamis, earthquakes, hurricanes,
floods, fires, and other disasters.
This book reveals how the Great Powers are driving all of the
nations of this world to go under when this Hour comes,
because of their developed civilization. These Powers are leading
the world towards impending destruction and unquestionable
perdition, and the only tools used in this are what they invented
by means of their technological rise and development. This is
based on atomic research and is directed towards a planetary
nuclear war.
However, along with the undoubted coming ruin—which
will cover the whole earth from east to west, and will reach every
spot that is reached by night and by day, so as to wipe out
unbelief, and its people, and all of its motives—the believers will
be made happy by the appearance of our master the Messiah
(pth). He is a sign of the approach of the Hour, and is the savior
and deliverer of mankind.
Who are these believers who will be happy at his coming
(pth)? Are they Muslims, Jews or Christians? The people of each
of these three religions are waiting for him (pth).
The community of which of these three religions will be
qualified to follow him (pth), and therefore to become the
masters of this world and of the unbelievers until Doomsday?
This is what is revealed in the complete study that is found in
the pages of this book, paving the way for every true lover who
is longing to meet this noble Envoy and become one of his
followers.
Before this, the book clearly outlines the indications of the
Hour, all of which have taken place without being noticed by
Preface
29
the people of this earth, scholars and freshmen, as nations and as
individuals. It gives practical, factual and sensible proof of the
manifestation of these indications, including:
 How Jerusalem has moved out of the hands of the
Muslims and into the control of the Israelites
 The sun’s rise in the west
 The splitting of the moon
 The emergence of the ground crawler
 The penetration through the confines of the heavens and
the earth
 The spread of Ya’jooj and Ma’jooj (the people of
corruption who flamed the fire of luxury and adornment
and caused nations, one after another, to be stirred up by
this fire)
 The earth becoming clad in golden ornaments and
decked out in beauty
 The emergence of smoke and its continual spreading
across the earth
The book also mentions some minor signs of the Hour, such
as the invention of wire and wireless telephones, mobile phones,
cars, planes, and many other indications.
Then, with deep and matchless fluency, it gives us glaring
and undoubted evidence of the coming of the long-desired
hope, so that there is no possibility for desperation or
hopelessness to creep into the hearts of those who are certain of
the approach of this Hour. This hope is none other than the
noble Envoy, our master Jesus (pth), the cause of salvation and
the ship of escape in our era.
By way of example rather than providing an exhaustive list,
we mention the following signs, although there are many others.
THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST
30
This evidence firstly includes his noble name: ‘Jesus, the
Messiah.’ In Arabic this indicates his certain return. Secondly,
there is the notability promised him in this world by God, as we
know this was not granted during his first coming. Thirdly, the
book moves on to explain the miracle of how he (pth) speaks to
people when middle-aged, as mentioned in the Holy Qur’an.
This will not intuitively be regarded as a miracle unless he (pth)
comes back into view after a long absence, exceeding twenty
centuries. Fourthly, there is the inevitable belief of the people of
scripture in him (pth) before his death, after a group of them
met him with denial in his first coming, while the others
worshiped him alongside God. Then, these minor signs end
with his return (pth), reading purified chapters, after his people
have divided themselves into Jews and Christians.
In this book, suspicions which have confused many people
will be wiped away, allowing the truth to manifest itself and
removing any obscurity or misunderstanding. The reader can
understand the real meaning of the phrase ‘taking back’
mentioned in the Holy Qur’an. In his story (pth), this does not
refer to his death, but to his sleeping throughout his long
absence, exactly as happened with the Sleepers of the Cave. In
addition to this there are many cogent demonstrations of his
human nature (pth), just as in the case of all the other great
Envoys of God.
This book also uncovers the reason for the descent of the first
teacher and the father of humanity, Adam (pth), from Paradise.
Along the way, it explains many important points about the
reason for our exodus to this world. It proves the impeccability
of this great prophet, Adam (pth), and his absolute innocence of
any disobedience. On the other hand, the book shows the great
benefits of the arrival of humanity to the abode of work,
responsibility and discomfort.
Finally, the book concludes by showing how humanity can
escape from the terrors of this horrible Hour and gain a meeting

with the great prophet, our beloved master Jesus (pth), the
Savior of humanity.
Blessed are those who are born at that time! Blessed are those
who are honest with their Provider and who repent to Him
submissively by seeking belief. This belief is accomplished
through studying and contemplating the cosmic signs, to
deduce and then witness the Existence of God.
God says: “Oh mankind! See by the Light of your Provider!
For the convulsion of the Hour will be a terrible thing!”

On the Meaning of the Hour
umanity suffers from acute spiritual anguish in this
age. This is due to the intense material domination of
everyday life that is caused by the technological
revolution. Casting its dark shadow over our spirits, it obstructs
the sources of light and separates our souls from the abode of
eternity. This revolution has made people lose themselves in
mental mazes which are sometimes contradictory and are often
internally complicated.
The scientific and technological revolution was a dream that
inspired the imaginations of a number of thinkers, who looked
on it as a savior from poverty, disease and ignorance. Since the
end of the nineteenth century, they have given free rein to their
thoughts and come to have an excessive and unreal belief in
their revolution. They wage a violent war against the old beliefs
and laws, claiming that they no longer serve any purpose, but
instead have grown old and become worn out. After deciding
that the ancient beliefs and laws are old and worn out, they
proceeded to sentence God to death,
1
announcing the birth of a
new god: the god of human science and deep thought. This new
god, they claimed, would subject nature to them in ways that
were not possible for the old god.
People believed in the message of this new god, particularly
in the west and the Far East. They turned their faces away from

THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST
36
the Creator of heaven and earth, not only abandoning Him but
also making fun of all His Laws, Legislation, and Ideals. In their
blindness they substituted other codes for them, inspired by the
servants of the devil.
The birth of this ‘god’ has titillated the imaginations of those
that are infatuated with him. But alas! He brought forth a fire
which tempts humanity to behave in a way which may well
cause their utter destruction, along with that of the rest of the
world. However, having at first believed his food to be
beneficial, they realized that in reality it causes those who eat it
to choke and suffer in burning torment. They also realized that
the happiness they have dreamt of is no more than a mirage in
the desert. Those who favor the lower earthly existence think
that it is water that grants life, happiness and bliss; however,
when they reach it, they find that it was nothing but a delusion,
mere pain and wretchedness; this is enough to act as a lesson if
only they give it due consideration.
The Creator of heaven and earth designed the universe to
conform to a strict set of rules in order that it should be as good
as it could possibly be. He laid down laws which agreed with the
natural dispositions of the human race. Having set up these
extremely majestic and magnificent rules, He gave humans the
chance to think for themselves. This begins when they are
semen, and continues throughout the stages of their formation
in the womb. After birth they saw how the heavens were raised
on high, how the stars were fixed firmly in position, how the
mountains were put in place, how the seas were filled, how all
the different kinds of beasts which He has dispersed over the
earth were created, and how all manner of beneficial plants were
brought up out of the soil by Him.
We wonder: who did all those things? Who is the Great
Creator who has allowed us and all of the other creatures to exist
since the beginning of time; from the very beginning, up to now
and throughout history?
It is He, the Almighty; He designed His Laws to agree with
our natural dispositions which we inherited from His Grand
On the Meaning of the Hour
37
Design. These statutes are designed to make us happy in this life
and in the hereafter. They were established upon strict rules
which uplift our spirits, thus allowing them to communicate
with their Creator. Once this point has been reached, our spirits
can escape from the slavery of material domination, under the
influence of which the spirit descends to a wretched level of
existence. Communication with God drives fear away from the
believer’s heart; the older they grow as they approach their
inevitable fate, the more that hope grows in their hearts so that
they no longer care whether they are lucky in this life or not.
Similarly, they never mind if they become ill or suffer hardship,
as they have no doubt that this life is temporal, whereas the
hereafter is eternal and filled with happiness.
Unlike the believers, people who take delight in the life of
this world—those who content themselves with it and hold it in
high esteem—become more worried as they enter the autumn of
their years. They become more aggrieved and distressed when
life laughs at them or turns away from them, or when they suffer
hardship.
Those who expect their god to make the present life as
perfect as paradise for them, and to allow them to take more
from nature than it grants by itself: these people are the deluded
ones. They are the ones who are cheated—not only in the next
life, but in this worldly life too. In the lower life, they hope to
achieve what belongs to the heavenly life through their god, and
they hope that he will give them fine palaces to live in. Instead,
he will thwart their dreams and burn them in his terrible fire.
When his wrath is turned upon them, the civilization they have
built by his means will be left as nothing but a desolate and
empty wasteland.
The technological revolution is the frustration of humanity in
our times; it turns people away from true happiness which cannot
be compared with its false and sensory reflection. It frustrates
because the latter is not in fact happiness; rather it is merely the
amusement of the self in base pleasures and passing desires. What
THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST
38
a difference there is between that and true happiness! The spirit’s
yearnings are many, and its capability is unlimited; in contrast,
our bodily capability is restricted. The difference between these
two powers is the cause of pain and wretchedness; joining an
unlimited power to a limited one makes the latter unable to fulfill
the wishes of the former. The spirit is like an unruly horse;
whenever it fulfills a desire, it tirelessly seeks another, because the
nature of its construction is immaterial. The Almighty did not
create unbounded power so that it would be filled with dirt.
Rather it was created that it be filled with absolute beauty and
that it might drink from the inexhaustible spring of perfection.
How different these two states are! In one, false pleasures—which
are to be terminated before the spirit leaves this life—result in
boredom and weariness mixed with distress, grief and pain. In the
other, the spirit experiences a lasting and growing happiness
2
from which it can never be separated. In the life to come, there is
nothing but truth: falsehood ceases to exist. Therefore, the spirits
of those who turn away from Al’lah in the present life come
before their Creator in a state of blindness on the Day of
Resurrection. This is the result of being too absorbed in gratifying
the desires of the lower life, and neglecting to discern what is
right before its end.
God says: “Those who give no heed to My Reminder shall
live in woe and come before Us in blindness on the Day of
Resurrection. ‘Provider!’ they will say, ‘why have You brought
us blind before You when in our lifetimes we were blessed with
sight?’ He will answer: ‘so were you,’…”: you were blind-
hearted in the worldly life. “…‘Our Revelations were declared
to you and you forgot them; would you be forgotten this day?’
”: shall We forget you today? It is necessary to force your spirit
to accept the cure for its sickness.
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortres 20, Ta Ha (Ta-Ha = Pure), verses 124-126
2 Kindly, refer to the book of the great humane scholar Mohammad Amin Sheikho
(his soul has been sanctified by Al’lah), Is Happiness Really Beyond Reach?!
On the Meaning of the Hour
39
This fact is supported by the Almighty’s Saying: “…it is the
heart within the bosom and not the eyes that is blind.”
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 22, Al-Hajj (The Pilgrimage), verse 46
And the Holy Saying: “He who has been blind in this life
shall be blind in the life to come and go further astray.”
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 17, Al-Isra’ (The Night Journey), verse 72
Because the Almighty wants us to be happy, He inflicts those
who do not believe in Him with the lightest chastisement before
the greatest chastisement. This gives them the chance to turn
their back on what makes them wretched and seek what makes
them happy in both this life and the afterlife. Doing so delivers
them from their infatuation with the earthly life, which is the
cause of all pain and misery.
The Almighty says: “And indeed, We will make them taste of
the lightest chastisement before the greatest chastisement in
order that they may repent and return.”
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 32, As-Sajda (The Prostration) verse 21
The word “…may…” here shows clearly the absolute
freedom of choice afforded to humanity. In other words: if they
break the laws that the Almighty has sent down to them, and
they reach a point where repenting and returning to Him
becomes impossible, they will then fall into complete and utter
destruction. The Almighty has given us clear examples of what
became of previous civilizations, such as the people of Noah,
‘Ad, Thamoud, and Pharaoh, who disregarded the laws that
were designed to bring them happiness. He has shown us clearly
how they refused to crush the obstacles that prevented them
from following the path that leads to Al’lah, the Almighty.
As for today, no matter how humanity tries to escape the
pain and misery which afflict them; no matter how people try to
THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST
40
shed the neurotic anxiety that clings to them like their shadows;
no matter how they try to get away from their emptiness and
extreme immorality, or from the interlacing and contrasting
mental mazes through which they hope to reach their desired
happiness: no matter how they try, they will never succeed. In
order to escape all these things they must return Al’lah’s Laws to
the earth in their words and deeds, and apply them earnestly.
However, if they fail (as they are sure to fail), let them then
expect earthquakes, volcanoes, devastating hurricanes and fatal
diseases, just as has happened in our times, and just as will
happen again. Let them wait for the fire that will melt solid iron
and crumble the hardest stone in the Third World War. This
punishment is not distant for the unjust.
God says: “Such is the scourge which your Provider has
visited upon the sinful nations. His Punishment is stern and
harrowing.”: this is a Godly Law; any civilization that takes up
this course deserves ruin.
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 11, Hud (Hud), verse 102
In His Holy Qur’an, the Almighty provides us with plenty of
stories about the destruction of nations that forsook the Godly
Rules and obeyed the laws of their whims. He first reveals to us
what prevented them from returning to the right religion, and
then describes the regrettable results that ensued. Before their
utter destruction, the Almighty would send them an Envoy to
warn them of the consequences of their false beliefs and deeds,
which were in violation of the rules of existence. These Envoys
would show them how their beliefs would bring them nothing
but misery and sorrow, and would distance them from the
source of true happiness. On the whole however, their words fell
upon deaf ears and closed hearts, as these peoples’ minds had
become utterly obsessed with materialism. This materialism
completely overwhelmed them so that they could never prosper.
On the Meaning of the Hour
41
They would not succeed, as their ignorance of Al’lah and their
refusal to believe in Him had made them hasten: “…evil rather
than good, yet many were the examples of those who were
ruined before them…”: what happened to the ancient nations?
What were they afflicted by?!
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 13, Ar-Ra’d (The Thunder), verse 6
Now, before illustrating the meaning of ‘the Hour’ in which
our master Jesus Christ (peace is through him) will come, and
before we differentiate between it and the final hour
(Doomsday), we will first review the beliefs and the acts of the
aforementioned destroyed nations, and the dialogue between
their people and their Envoys. Then we will investigate the
reasons that prevented them from complying with Al’lah’s Call.
Finally, we will outline the lamentable end to which they came.
If we succeed in doing this—in which we hope to receive
Al’lah’s Aid—the meaning of the Hour will be unveiled, and
every confusion will vanish as a result of the comparison
between the hour in which our master Jesus will come again to
eliminate the pains of humankind, thus saving them, and the
hour in which the resurrection will occur.
The first nation which the Almighty mentions in His Holy
Book and which was destroyed because of its deviation from the
right path is the nation of our master Noah (pth).
3
Those
nations given as examples by Al’lah are a sufficient sermon and
clear lesson for those who have an open heart by which to think,
or who pay attention to the truth and thus witness reality. This
is because the answer that people gave to the Envoys whom
Almighty Al’lah did not mention is the same as the answer given
3 (pth): peace is through him.
THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST
42
to the ones mentioned in the Holy Qur’an,
4
or the answer given
to any god-fearing individual who guides people towards virtue.
God says: “Nothing is said to you that has not been said to
other Envoys before you. Your Provider is Forgiving and of
stern retribution.”
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 41, Fussilat (Explained), verse 43
In another Fortress, He (glory to His Name) says: “Thus
whenever an Envoy came to those before them they said: ‘Sorcerer!’
Or ‘Mad man!’ Have they handed down this saying from one
generation to the next? No, they are only transgressing people.”
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 51, Adh-Dhariyat (Sun Rays), verses 52-53
Abo Al-Fath Ahmad Al-Shahrastani referred to this concept
in his book Sects and Creeds. He said: “Those who argued with
Noah, Hud, Sa’leh, Abraham, Lot, Sho’aib, Moses, Jesus and
Mohammad (peace is through them) all trod in the footsteps of
the cursed devil when he exposed his own stupidity by rebelling
against Al’lah. The intent of their argument was either to acquit
themselves of responsibility or to deny the favor of all those who
had been given a message to deliver.”
There is no difference between their saying “…‘shall mortals
be our guides?’…”
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 64, At-Taghabun (The Apparent Loss), verse 6
…and his saying: “…‘do I prostrate myself to whom You
have created out of mud?’ ”
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 17, Al-Isra’ (The Night Journey), verse 61
4 God says: “We have sent forth other Envoys before you; of some you have
already heard, of others We have told you nothing. However, none of these
could work a miracle except by Al’lah’s Permission. When Al’lah’s Will is done,
justice will prevail and those who have denied His Signs will come to grief.”
[e Holy Qur’an, Fortress 40, Ghafir (e Forgiver God), verse 78].
On the Meaning of the Hour
43
Thus the reason for all disagreement on the issue and the very
essence of this disunity can be explained very simply. As it is
said in God’s Saying: “Nothing prevents people from having
faith when guidance is revealed to them but the excuse: would
Al’lah have sent a human being as an Envoy?”
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 17, Al-Isra’ (The Night Journey), verse 94
Therefore He clarified that the cause of unbelief has this
meaning. In the very earliest of times we can see what Satan said
when Al’lah asked him a question: “…‘why did you not
prostrate yourself, since I have commanded you?’ He (the devil)
said: ‘I am better than him (Adam); You have created me out of
fire but him out of mud’.”
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 7, Al-A’raf (The Heights), verse 12
So it was with his descendants who came after him. He said
through the tongue of Pharaoh: “ ‘Am I not better than this
undignified one?!’ ”
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 43, Az-Zukhruf (Ornaments of Luxury), verse 52
The same tone can be found in the sayings of those who
came later; as we shall see, they correspond exactly with their
predecessors.
God says: “The ignorant asked: ‘Why does Al’lah not speak
to us or give us a sign?’ Thus the same demand was made by
those before them: their hearts are all alike…”
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 2, Al-Baqara (The Cow), verse 118
The previous verse: “Thus whenever an Envoy came to those
before them they said: ‘Sorcerer!’ Or ‘Mad man!’ ”, is regarded
as one of the rules which neither alter nor change throughout
the ages.
THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST
44
Wherever the word “such…” or sometimes “thus…” is
mentioned in the Holy Qur’an, as it is mentioned in this verse, it
indicates that most of the speech that follows it is a law or a rule.
The Almighty was referring to one of these rules when He said:
“Such has been the rule of Al’lah with those who have gone
before them. You shall find no change in the rule of God.”
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 33, Al-Ahzab (The Combined Clans), verse 62
These are firm rules and laws: any saying or action on the
part of unbelieving ancestors is no different than a saying or
action of anyone who comes after them: it makes no sense at all.
Therefore, the Almighty Al’lah (glory to Him) gave examples
that were limited to a small number of nations. Their sayings
demonstrated their doctrines and their conduct. This was done
in order to provide clear examples of the damnation that will
afflict any nation that adopts their ways and shows the same
contempt for its Envoys.
We will now study, in some detail, several of the nations to
whom these rules were applied. The study will include the
following nations:
The People of Our Master Noah
(Peace is through him)
The People of Our Master Hud
(Peace is through him)
The People of Our Master Sa’leh
(Peace is through him)
The People of Our Master Lot
(Peace is through him)
The People of Our Master Sho’aib
(Peace is through him)
45
The People of Our Master Noah
(Peace is through him)
hen God sent forth our master Noah (pth) to his
people, he said: “ ‘…I have come to warn you
plainly. Obey none but Al’lah. I fear that you may
suffer the torment of a woeful day.’ The unbelieving elders of
his people replied: ‘we regard you as mortal like ourselves; nor
can we find any among your followers but men of hasty
judgment, the simplest of our tribe. We see no superiority in
you over us: indeed, we think that you are lying’.”
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 11, Hud (Hud), verses 25-27
The call of our master Noah (pth) was like the call of the
other noble Envoys of God. It was intended to lead people to
obey Al’lah, our Creator, and to ascertain that there is no god
except Him. Such a call will remain with us until the Day of
Resurrection. It is the most valuable thing that was brought by
all the Envoys (peace is through them) for it clarifies the
purpose for which we were created. However, it should be noted
that the purpose of submitting to God is not so that He can
boast of our submission to Him before His angels, as some have
claimed. Glory to Him and may He be raised above such a
description. The purpose is only so that we may purify our
spirits and rid them of their defects.
W
THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST
46
In fact, the purification of the spirit cannot be accomplished
except by attaining a link with God. This link is achieved by
communicating with God, and by worshiping Him. This
requires complete obedience and absolute surrender to His
Commands, which are designed explicitly for our benefit. Once
this point is reached, the compliant spirit becomes confident of
God’s Satisfaction with it. This new-found confidence allows
the spirit to become closer to God, feeling no hesitancy and
finding no barrier between it and its Master or His Holy Sight.
Once the spirit has entered God’s Presence, it becomes colored
with the stain of perfection.
God says through His Envoys: “It is the stain of Al’lah. And
who gives a better stain than Al’lah? So we
1
do worship Him.”
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 2, Al-Baqara (The Cow), verse 138
The impurities and sins of the spirit are washed away and
replaced with morally virtuous qualities once the spirit has
achieved this link and this level of intimacy with God, and has
accomplished communication with Him. The merits which we
acquire from God refine our intentions and improve our deeds,
because when spirits become virtuous, deeds become virtuous.
When this happens, the entire society follows suit and
everybody in such a society lives in a state of happiness and bliss.
It is for this purpose that the Almighty wants us to obey His
Commands. He wants only to clean our hearts, and to bless us
in this life and in the life to come.
Our master Noah (pth) told of the Provider’s Revelation, but
many of his people refused to accept it as the truth. They said,
just like the people of the societies of the other Envoys: “ ‘…we
regard you as mortal like ourselves; nor can we find any among
your followers but men of hasty judgment, the simplest of our
1 The word ‘we’ here refers to Prophets & Envoys.
The People of Our Master Noah (pth)
47
tribe. We see no superiority in you over us: indeed, we think
that you are lying’.”
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 11, Hud (Hud), verse 27
This type of denial of an Envoy is bound to prevent people
from believing in God.
God says: “Nothing prevents people from having faith when
guidance is revealed to them but the excuse: would Al’lah have
sent a human being as an Envoy?”
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 17, Al-Isra’ (The Night Journey), verses 94
This denial arises from the inability of individuals who are far
from God to see the perfection of the noble Envoy. Therefore
our master Noah said: “…‘think, my people! If I could know
my Provider, and if He bestowed compassion upon me out of
His Compassion, even if it is hidden from you, can we compel
you to accept it against your will?’ ”
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 11, Hud (Hud), verse 28
So it was with the Quraysh who offered the same denial to
our master Mohammad (cpth).
God says: “They said: ‘why was this Qur’an not revealed to
some mighty man from the two towns?’ ”
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 43, Az-Zukhruf (Ornaments of Luxury), verse 31
As previously mentioned, their objection to Mohammad
(cpth) was a result of their blindness to his great sublimity. They
evaluate the greatness of men according to the money or the
power that they have. In other words, most people take
everything at face value, not caring to look further and discover
the truth. They do not observe anything deeply enough to see
its true greatness, and thus do not achieve illumination by
Al’lah’s Light.
THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST
48
In the Holy Qur’an, our master Noah (pth) told of how he
was shunned by those of his people whom he met. Although he
kept inviting them to hear his words day and night, secretly and
openly, he found no one who would listen to him. They simply
thrust their fingers in their ears and persisted in their unbelief,
refusing to hear the truth in their insolent pride. Noah
explained to them how the Almighty Al’lah had created them in
gradual stages and how He made the seven heavens one above
the other, placing in them the moon to light the night and the
sun to illuminate the day. He (pth) urged his folk to think of
the animals that God had created on earth, and how He had
brought forth delectable plants in pairs. Nonetheless, they cared
not to heed his advice; indeed they gave him nothing but
bewildered looks: yea, looks of hidden mockery and denial.
They saw him, like themselves, as nothing more than a mortal,
as they were only aware of his physical form and were unable to
perceive the sublimity of who he really was. Their hearts were
filled with the love of the transient, worldly life. They did not
think of death; they preferred the fleeting life to the eternal one,
saying: “there is nothing except our present life. We will die and
perish but we will not be resurrected again.”
Thus they denied the resurrection, and turned away from
God. Moreover, in their blindness all they saw was that no one
but the simplest people from the lowest levels of society followed
our master Noah (pth), and that their Envoy (pth) was just a
man. They could not deny his prestige and high conduct or his
logical arguments, so they simply refused to believe. Indeed,
nothing prevented them from being guided but the excuse:
“…‘would Al’lah have sent a human being as an Envoy?’ ”
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 17, Al-Isra’ (The Night Journey), verse 94
A person must contemplate the creation of the heavens and
the earth and adopt the way of self-reflection which leads to
The People of Our Master Noah (pth)
49
belief in God, purifying their spirit of its wickedness by
attaining a link with God. If a person does not do so, they will
not recognize the Envoy and will not come to believe in him or
his call. Perfection will remain concealed from any person who
thinks in this way; through the exclusive use of their visual
sensory organs they will only see the external appearance of the
Envoy, therefore missing his sublime reality.
God says: “…and you see them looking at you but they do
not see”: that is: they do not see your reality by using the eyes of
the heart.
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 7, Al-A’raf (The Heights), verse 198
And He says: “They said: ‘who is this Envoy that eats food
and walks in the markets? Why has no angel been sent down
with him to warn us? Why has he been given no treasure, and
no garden to eat from?’ And the wrongdoers said: ‘The man
you follow is surely bewitched’.”: that is, he imagines unreal
things. They measured everything according to worldly values;
they thought that money and belongings were good for people,
and that this was what indicated a person’s rank and God’s
satisfaction with that person.
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 25, Al-Furqan (The Criterion), verses 7-8
It is no wonder then that after our master Noah (pth) had
dwelt amongst his people, calling them to God for just fifty
years short of a thousand years, none had heeded his call except
for the very few. They would not have believed, even if he had
stayed amongst them until the Day of Resurrection. However,
on the other hand, if they had followed the rules by which God
intended that people be guided, He would have given them
clear vision. Through their piety they would have been
illuminated by His Light, and would have ensured happiness for
themselves and the rest of the human race.
THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST
50
The Envoy (cpth) said what is mentioned in the noble verse:
“…‘should I seek a judge other than Al’lah, when it is He Who
has brought down the Qur’an for you, with all the details?’
Those to whom We have given the Book know that it is the
truth revealed by your Provider. Therefore you shall never be
sightless. Perfected is the Word of your Provider; through truth
and justice then, change for the better is realized. None can
change His Words. He is All-Hearing and Omniscient.”
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 6, Al-An’am (Livestock), verses 114-115
These truths are firm rules and laws. No spirit can have faith
until it takes up the path of reflecting on God’s creation with
the intention of seeking the truth; this is an intention to
ascertain the Existence of God and to see by the Light of the
Creator, Who provides and directs everything. If people do not
believe or do good deeds, the Holy Books (i.e. the Stain of God
which colors the spirits with righteousness and perfection) will
never be revealed to them, and the verses of the Qur’an or any
other Book that was revealed to the Envoys will not become
clear signs in their hearts. Nay, they will remain obscure for
them, as their negative actions will create a veil to prevent them
from grasping their meaning. Their language will not help
them, and neither will their existence in the same age as the
Envoy (cpth), for this Qur’an has been kept in his heart (cpth)
and its lofty meanings can only be touched upon by the purified
ones
2
whose hearts have been cleansed of the evils of this mean
life and its deadly sins.
2 The Almighty said in the Holy Qur’an, Fortress 56, Al-Waqi’a (The Inevitable
Event), verses 77-79: “This is a glorious Qur’an, inscribed in a hidden book
which none can touch except the purified.” This book is hidden; that is, its
meanings are veiled in the heart of the greatest Envoy (cpth). People cannot begin
to understand these meanings unless they have achieved spiritual purification and
have attained the intercession and the love of being in the company of God’s Envoy
(cpth).
The People of Our Master Noah (pth)
51
Our Envoy Noah (pth) lived amongst his people for a very
long time, but none of them believed in him (save for a few).
Therefore, he cautioned his people about the severe punishment
that would be inflicted upon them if they continued to distance
themselves from God. Nonetheless, those among his people who
disbelieved answered him by saying: “…‘Noah, you have argued
and argued too much with us. Bring down the scourge with
which you threaten us, if you speak the truth’.”: that is, if you
are truthful then let us be punished, because we do not want to
change our way of life.
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 11, Hud (Hud), verse 32
Our master Noah (pth) felt sorrow for them, yet they felt
irritated by him. He was alone and shed many a lonely tear on
their behalf. Meanwhile they laughed at him amongst
themselves. He warned them of their impending utter
destruction, yet they derided him. He clarified for them the
foolishness of their ideology, yet they plotted against him. At
that time he invoked his Provider, saying: “…‘help me,
Provider, I am overcome!’ ”: that is, “Oh my Provider! Support
me with other cogent proofs by which my people may change
their minds and become guided.”
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 54, Al-Qamar (The Moon), verse 10
The Almighty told him that there was no hope for them as
the cups of their spirits had become overfull with immorality;
they would neither ask for guidance nor believe. No result could
be obtained from them because they were people with
uncultivated spirits. God inspired our master Noah (pth) to
build an ark in accordance with His Will as his people deserved
damnation. There was no hope that they would ever believe or
come to have goodness in their spirits.
THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST
52
God says: “Because of their sins that caused them to be
drowned and cast into the Fire, they found none to help them
besides Al’lah.”
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 71, Nuh (Noah), verse 25
Before concluding the section about the folk of our master
Noah (pth), we would like to clarify an important point. There
are some who said that our master Noah (pth) called down
perdition upon his people because of their mockery of him.
Those who make this claim consider this to have been a
wrongful action. In fact, our master Noah did not call upon
God in the name of his people, saying: “…‘Provider, do not
leave a dweller of the unbelievers in the land’…”, until his
Provider had revealed to him that none of them would believe
in him save those who already believed.
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 71, Nuh (Noah), verse 26
When God informed him that his people would never
believe, out of his love for them he asked God to bring their
days to an end. The example of our master Noah (pth) reminds
us of someone whose close relative is suffering from the great
pain of an incurable disease. Someone in this position would
certainly wish for the death of their relative in order that they be
relieved of their pain. This would be an act of mercy. When the
Almighty God informed our master Noah (pth) that his people
would not believe, he wished for their death in the hope that
their torment might be lessened. If they had lived they would
only have continued straying further from God, and their lives
would not have added anything except more disbelief and more
obstinacy. On the other hand, death would have brought their
evil deeds to an end, and these were deeds which would only
cause them to suffer greater torture in the afterlife.
The People of Our Master Noah (pth)
53
God says: “And it was revealed to Noah…”: when his people
asked for destruction, “…that: ‘none of your people will believe
with you save those who have already believed!’…”: there is no
hope for their belief.” “…‘do not grieve at their misdeeds’.”:
“do not be sad and do not feel sorrow because they stray from
My Guidance.” “ ‘Build the ark under Our Eyes’…”: “We see
you and inspire you,” “...‘according to Our Inspiration’…”: “as
We have indicated.” “…‘do not plead with Me for the
wrongdoers’…”: “do not intercede in order to drive the
affliction from them or beg My Pardon for them.” Our master
Noah (pth) kept calling his people for fifty years short of one
thousand years, but when they rejected belief or obedience, they
justly deserved their doom. Despite this, our master Noah (pth)
still hoped to guide them and save them in spite of their
opposition. “…‘they shall all be drowned (God replied)’.”: and
so it became an inevitable decree.
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 11, Hud (Hud), verses 36-37
54
The People of Our Master Hud
(Peace is through him)
The People of ‘Ad, Commonly Known as the Mighty Giants
od sent to the ‘Ad their compatriot, Hud (pth). “…he
said: worship Al’lah, my people; you have no god
except Him. Indeed, you say untruths. I demand no
recompense from you, my people, for no one can reward me,
except He Who created me. Do you not realize?”
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 11, Hud (Hud), verses 50-51
He (pth) said to them: “…worship Al’lah...”: observe His
Orders and obey His Words, not the words of servants such as
yourselves, “...you have no god except Him…”: there is no
provider and no director except Him. Who lets the rain fall?
Who steers the sun and the moon? Who creates the night and
the day? Who creates the seasons? Who causes the earth to
rotate? “…indeed, you say untruths.”: you invent false sayings
about Al’lah, including the claim that He ordered you to follow
false gods or to worship idols. “I demand no recompense from
you, my people, for no one can reward me except He Who
created me…” that is, He Who brought me into existence,
“…do you not realize?”: do you never think a little to allow the
truth to sink into your brain? A sane person will think about any
words they hear; if they are right, they will accept them; if not,
they will reject them. Is it not fitting for people to seek to realize
G

the realities of things by themselves? Should we not become sure
of God’s Existence and attain the truth through contemplating
His universal Graces? Who feeds us? Who supplies us with
water? Who restores us when we are sick?
Our master Hud (pth) spoke to his people, as did our master
Noah and all the Envoys (ptt)
1
both before and after him. He
(pth) said to them: “…worship Al’lah; you have no god except
Him…” This noble Envoy revealed to them that: “the steering
of this universe belongs to Al’lah (glory to Him), and all beings
belong to Him and move only by His Leave. He is the Only
Being Alive Who can provide life; He is the Director, for He
alone is the Creator, the Source of life, and is responsible for the
movement of each atom in the universe. He supplies and is
supplied by nobody, for He is One and Self-Supporting. If
Al’lah afflicts you with misfortune, no one can remove it but
Him, and if He wants to bestow favor on you, no one can
withhold His Bounty. This occurs in proportion to what you
deserve. Oh people! You yourselves have shaped these gods
which you worship with your own hands. Do you worship what
you have crafted? Woe to you! Do you not realize? Can you not
see that they are unable to save you, or even to save themselves
from evil? What has come over you that you cannot judge? Oh
people! Why do you shun the Creator of heaven and earth, and
obey that which can neither harm nor help you? This is but a
mockery which you and your fathers have invented, although
Al’lah has not supported it with power.”
However, their only answer was: “We do not care at all
whether you preach or not. This is but the legacy of the
ancients. Surely we shall never be punished.”
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 26, Ash-Shu’ara’ (The Poets), verses 136-138
1 (ptt): peace is through them.
THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST
56
He (pth) said: “Oh people! Do not let the lower life tempt
you. Do not be seduced by riches and the strength of which you
brag. How can you ask “…who is mightier than us?” Do you
not see that He Who created you is Mightier than you? What is
this false pride for, then? If you witness that, then what is this
ingratitude for?
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 41, Fussilat (Explained), verse 15
The materialist comfort and abundant luxury which they had
gained from commerce veiled them from God. Their lands,
which stretched from a point west of the Euphrates to the coast
of the Mediterranean, were a central point for the meeting of
world trade.
2
They built their capital, which had such wealth that it was
called: “Irama, the many-columned city, whose like has never
been created in the land.”
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 89, Al-Fajr (The Coming Appearance), verses 7-8
2 In some books of interpretation, it was reported that the ‘Ad lived in the land of
Hadramut. Neither the Holy Qur’an nor the history books affirm such a claim. No
known country in Hadramut became powerful to the extent that its people said to
their Envoy: “…who is mightier than us?” [e Holy Qur’an, Fortress 41, Fussilat
(Explained), verse 15].
or their Envoy said to them: “...He will add strength to yours…” [The Holy
Qur’an, Fortress 11, Hud (Hud), verse 52].
None of the available historical documents indicate the rise of a strong, powerful
nation in that land. This land was under the authority of Yemeni rulers. Moreover,
the kings of Yemen called themselves the ‘Kings of Hadramut.’ Besides, the Holy
Qur’an (while it does not designate the lands of ruined nations, as it was revealed
for admonition rather than historiography) always associates the Thamoud people
with the ‘Ad. This connection positively refers to their proximity in space and time.
The Almighty God said, through the words of our master Sa’leh (pth): “Remember
that He has made you the heirs of the ‘Ad…” [e Holy Qur’an, Fortress 7, Al-A’raf
(e Heights), verse 74].
This noble verse shows that the Thamoud knew the ‘Ad; otherwise this Envoy of
God would have not reminded his people about them. Beyond this, the statement
“He has made you the heirs of the ‘Ad” may mean that the Thamoud took over
the land where the ‘Ad had previously dwelt.
The People of Our Master Hud (pth)
57
The Almighty described their structural works to us, which
indicated their great luxury. He says: “Do you build a wonder
of perfect splendor and skill to trifle?…”: that is, you build
wondrous castles, coffeehouses and amusement centers in places
of excellent natural beauty, constructing admirable parks and
buffets of the highest degree of beauty; do you then use them for
pastimes and luxury, only to waste time in them?! Does this
actually qualify you for Paradise? “You raise factories...”:
workshops and storehouses, containing silk and toys; you
decorate the shops and the stores, “...hoping that you may last
forever.” You think that you will live forever and you have
forgotten about death. All of that is but an ornament for this
transient worldly life, which harms the middle class and the
poor. It makes them incline to the present life, which leads
inevitably to baseness, misery and stinginess, making people
turn away from the performance of good deeds and charity.
“And when you exercise your power, you act like cruel tyrants”
against one another. If you clash over something, you will be on
the brink of cruelly killing each other because of your merciless
hearts. “See by Al’lah’s Light, and follow me”: reflect on what
these buildings, these palaces, and this luxury will bring down
upon you. They result in envy and depravity in people’s hearts,
annoyance in their livelihood and competition in their life. “See
by the Light of He Who has provided for you...”: turn your
spirits towards Him and think of those of His Graces which He
grants to you “...with what you know”: referring to blessings.
“He has provided you with flocks...”: sheep, “...children, and
gardens...”: orchards, “…and springs.”: boons and great
donation.
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 26, Ash-Shu’ara’ (The Poets), verses 128-134
Thus, when God sends forth an Envoy, he places them in the
middle of the world. He does not place them in a place as
THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST
58
isolated as Hadramut, where no one passes other than an
occasional merchant coming from India or the Far East.
God says: “Nor does your Provider destroy cities until He
has created an Envoy in their capital (a town of primary
importance)…”
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 28, Al-Qasas (Stories), verse 59
As for the Thamoud, historians are nearly unanimous in
agreement that their hometown was in the area of Wadi Al-
Qura, along the Pilgrimage Road from the cities of Syria to
honored Mecca. The Thamoud are mentioned in the cities of
Jordan, which were conquered by the Assyrian King Sargon in
(715) B.C. The description of its context says that it was near to
Mecca and to the north. The Greeks also mentioned it in their
books. They located it in Al-Hejr land, although they called it
Thamudeni, while they called the land of Al-Hejr Agra.
If the Thamoud lived in this area, then undoubtedly the ‘Ad
lived in what is now Syria.
The ‘Ad, and then the Thamoud who came after them, took
advantage of an excellent geographical location, which lay at a
junction of the trade routes coming from the east and going
west. At that time and up until recently, this area was an
intersection of three world roads:
 First: the trading road from Yemen and the Hijaz to
Syria and the African cities across the Sinai Desert.
 Second: the road from the Arabian Gulf to Syria and the
African cities across the desert.
 Third: the road from Fares (Persia) and Al-Rafedain (the
Euphrates and the Tigris) to Syria and the west of the
Mediterranean.
By virtue of this strategic spot, these people were able to take
advantage of the trade traffic. They offered assistance in carrying
The People of Our Master Hud (pth)
59
merchandise, as well as providing security services against
thieves. Other services they offered included providing food,
drink, and fodder for animals, inns for merchants to rest in, and
storehouses for preserving goods. They most likely became
world merchants later on.
According to the quoted verses, we can also conclude that the
‘Ad and then the Thamoud had an advanced civilization as
regards its structure and culture. The Almighty described them
as a discerning people, saying: “We also destroyed the ‘Ad and
the Thamoud. This is vouched for by their ruins. Satan had
made their foul deeds seem fair to them, and debarred them
from the right path, keen-sighted though they were.” They
were masters in worldly science.
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 29, Al-’Ankabut (The Spider), verse 38
It is not strange that these same people were enlightened with
scientific and literary cultures. The wonderful constructions and
factories which they raised surely required competent engineers,
and would not have been possible without a developed science
of mathematics, and consequently, high standards in all kinds of
education. They were able to attain that scientific knowledge
because of their special location. It has been said that “wherever
trade meets, minds are fertilized.”
This Envoy called on his people to worship God and to obey
Him, for if they did so, He would send abundant rain upon
them from heaven and would add to their strength. The words
of our master Hud (pth) are those of a man who knew God’s
Rules, because when God sends an Envoy to a nation and they
do not follow him, He afflicts them with spiritual and physical
distress. He makes them taste of the lightest chastisement before
the greatest chastisement, so that they will return to God.
God says: “We sent forth to other nations before you...”: We
sent Envoys forth to them as We have sent you (oh
THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST
60
Mohammad), but they opposed their Envoys. Therefore God
smote them with hardship, poverty and disease, “…and afflicted
them with physical adversity and spiritual calamity...” What is
the purpose of this distress? It is “...so that they may repent and
return”: that is, to make them turn to God and purify their
spirits. (These calamities befall you so that you will pray to God
and obtain a clear spirit. Hence, affliction is sent because of
what is in your spirit. Repent and resort to God. If you resort
and draw near to Him, your spirit will be cleansed of the
microbe which has caused your neediness, illness and
misfortunes. Then God will bless you and will end your
suffering).
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 6, Al-An’am (Livestock), verse 42
God says: “Whenever We sent a Prophet to a city, We
afflicted its people with physical adversity and spiritual
calamity...”: when the Envoys come, and people do not believe
them, the Almighty God puts those people under stress out of
His Mercy and Tenderness. Whenever God sent a sign to any
nation in the world, calling them to believe that there is no god
but Al’lah, and they did not believe this sign, He afflicted them
with calamity. The Almighty does not destroy a nation until He
has sent His Envoys to them. If they then fail to repent, He
sends them distress in the form of both spiritual and physical
torment “…so that they may repent…” This torture and stress
show that there is the potential for repentance. The purpose is
only to make people invoke God, so that their spirits will be
cured of what has settled in them.
This is God’s Saying. Those who say that God creates some
people for Paradise and others for Hell are mistaken in their
view, for such an idea is in contradiction of the Godly Justice.
The Almighty tells us that when people resist their Envoy,
He puts them under stress so that they may return to Him. In
The People of Our Master Hud (pth)
61
that act of returning, the wickedness leaves their spirits and they
become pure. God’s Call addresses all of humanity. “Then...”,
when they insisted on shunning Him and did not repent,
“…We changed adversity to good fortune...” When the germ
came to be so deep-rooted in their spirits that there was no
longer any hope of saving them, He gave them all that they
desired and allowed them to enjoy this worldly life, so that they
might give thanks. (He could have obliged them with such
generosity to begin with, but there are only a few people who
give thanks, and therefore instead, He begins with affliction).
After that, if they did not return to Him, they would be ruined,
“…until they completely forgot...”: these people did not
appreciate the Graces of God. Although they became rich and
had an abundantly luxurious lifestyle, nonetheless, they did not
return to God or pray to Him any more. They forgot everything
“...and said: our fathers were also touched by sorrows and
joys...”: our fathers were also subject to both good and bad
circumstances. They did not ascribe their affliction to their own
deeds or actions. They believed that it was simply the vagaries of
time, “…but then suddenly, We called them to account while
they were heedless.” During their neglect, destruction was
brought down upon them suddenly, without any advance
notice.
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 7, Al-A’raf (The Heights), verses 94-95
If God had settled His Judgment in Al-Azal and predestined
our fates, as some claim, then what is the purpose of the Envoys
and the disasters? We can see from this that what they say is
completely wrong. There is a way to return, and we do have the
ability to repent. The Almighty has sent us Envoys and leaders,
and He has granted you the power of thought and has revealed
the whole universe to your eyes so that you may be reminded. If
you use your ability to think and are guided, He will bestow
good things on you and will not exert pressure on you.
THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST
62
Indeed, that is what happened to the ‘Ad. God sent them
only the lightest chastisement. He held back the rain, damaging
their orchards and livestock; consequently, their economy and
infrastructure collapsed. Our master Hud (pth) explained the
reasons to them. He said: “My people, seek the Forgiveness of
your Provider…”: believe in Him. If you think about anything,
you will be guided. Who raised you up when you were just a
drop of semen inside the belly of your mother? Everything
indicates the Provider. If you do not seek forgiveness in order to
be cured of these lowly yearnings, then they will continue to
cling to your heart. Adultery, stealing and killing are crimes that
occur in the spirit. If you seek forgiveness, repent and render
good deeds, you will draw nearer to God, and your spirit will be
cured. At that time, you would accompany God’s Envoy (cpth),
and through being in his company you would understand both
virtue and vice. In this way, you would praise God, Who has
protected you from committing wrongs and has showed you
their reality, “…and turn to Him in repentance…”: turn from
your present actions. “He will send abundant rain upon you
from heaven…”: they were suffering distress and hardship. “He
will add strength to yours. Do not turn away from Him, for
you are wrongdoers.”: you have deprived yourselves of
blessings. None of your advantages are real or permanent. You
live only so that you can be the possessor of perfection and
favor. You were created to be charitable.
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 11, Hud (Hud), verse 52
For this reason, we find that all people see the Envoys to be
evil omens, for when they do not respond to them, God afflicts
them with many kinds of torture.
The Almighty God sent the lightest torment before the
greatest torment to the ‘Ad, but they neither surrendered nor
returned. Moreover, they said to him (pth): “such speech as
yours is not proof enough to make us forsake our gods and
worship a single god. What you say is nothing other than fancies
The People of Our Master Hud (pth)
63
that are in conflict with our reality and our experience. Why
should we not be proud of our life, our factories and our
palaces, which are symbols of advancement and progress, and
which distinguish us from all other backward nations? Shall we
turn from that to devotion, and follow methods to believe in
what is hidden? This thing which you deem to be corruption,
we regard as goodness and progress.”
God says: “When it was said to them: ‘do not commit evil in
the land’, they replied: ‘we do nothing but good.’ However,
they were evil-doers, though they did not perceive it.”
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 2, Al-Baqara (The Cow), verses 11-12
They said: “we can only suppose that our gods have afflicted
you with evil since you deny their divinity, and therefore they
have hidden the truth from you, making you say these words.
We advise you to quit this superstition and turn to worship
what your fathers used to worship.”
However, our master Hud (pth) answered them: “Al’lah is
my witness, and so are you, that I am done with what you serve
other than Him…” Thus he (pth) overwhelmed them with his
argument and challenged them all. “…scheme against me and
give me no respite. I have put my trust in Al’lah, my Provider
and yours. There is no living creature outside His control.
Straight is the path of my Provider.” They could hatch
whatever plans they wanted; he (pth) was brave and sure of
himself because he was following the right path without error,
and had surrendered to God. The Almighty God crippled their
power, and made cowardice and terror flow into the depths of
their hearts. In this way, they bowed their heads humbly before
his majestic greatness. The Almighty clothed him in a garment
of divine Grandeur because he was His Envoy.
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 11, Hud (Hud), verses 54-56
THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST
64
When he warned them of the consequences of their actions,
they said: “…we do not care at all whether you preach or not.”:
this is our path and our creed. We do not care, “This is but the
legacy of the ancients.”: this is the way that was followed by our
forefathers. Why do you want to change the creed that we have
inherited from them? “Surely we shall never be tortured.”: your
admonition is baseless.
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 26, Ash-Shu’ara’ (The Poets), verses 136-138
Thus, the ‘Ad did not accept the call of their Envoy (pth) and
they persisted in their love of the earthly life. Furthermore, they
asked our master Hud (pth) to bring down his threats upon
them if he was really telling the truth.
God says: “Tell of the ‘Ad’s compatriot, who warned his
people with annihilation, and there have been other Envoys
before and since his time, saying: ‘serve none but Al’lah, I fear
for your momentous day of torment.’ They replied: ‘have you
come to turn us away from our own gods? Bring down your
threats upon us if what you say is true!’ He said: ‘only Al’lah
knows when it will come. I declare to you the words for which I
was sent. However, I can see that you are ignorant.’ Thereafter,
when they saw a cloud heading for their valleys, they said: ‘here
is a passing cloud that will bring us rain.’ Not at all! It is that
which you have sought to hasten: a hurricane bringing a woeful
scourge. It will destroy everything at the bidding of its
Provider. When the morning came there was nothing to be
seen except their ruined dwellings. Thus We reward the
wrongdoers. We had given them great power….”: they were the
masters of the world, “…and We may give the same to you; We
granted them ears and eyes and hearts…”: they had made great
progress in the worldly sciences, “…yet their ears, their eyes,
their hearts were of no avail since they denied the Signs of
Al’lah. The scourge at which they scoffed was fair for them.”
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 46, Al-Ahqaf (Annihilation), verses 21-26
65
The People of Our Master Sa’leh
(Peace is through him)
The People of Thamoud
l’lah, the Almighty, sent the people of Thamoud their
brother Sa’leh. He says: “To the Thamoud We sent their
compatriot Sa’leh. He said: ‘worship Al’lah, my people;
you have no god but Him. It was He Who made you from the
earth and gave you dwellings upon it. Seek forgiveness from
Him and turn to Him in repentance. Indeed my Provider is
Near at hand and Responsive’.”
The Holy Qur’an,
Fortress 11, Hud (Hud), verse 61
Indeed, the Envoys’ mission is the same in every time and
place. It is to invite people to Al’lah, acquainting them with His
Perfection and demonstrating the wisdom behind His Orders
and Prohibitions. This is because if people know their Provider
scientifically, they will understand everything. If, however, they
lead themselves astray from the Provider, they will find no
defender and will live in darkness, for deception will blind them
from witnessing reality. Thus, they will see nothing but the
appearance of things.
In this way, unbelievers look at the truth in reverse. When
their Envoy addresses them from the correct standpoint, they
deny their mission and disdain their behavior. This happens

  • 11. THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST 10
  • 12. 11 Foreword by Prof. Abdul-Kadir John Alias Al-Dayrani raise belongs to God, the Provider of the worlds; perfect and complete communication with God and peace are through the best of creation, our master Mohammad, honest and truthful in his promises. This is the end of time. Ignorance has prevailed and whim has triumphed, desires have become deep-rooted in the spirits of humanity, and the illicit has become permissible while what is permissible has become illicit. Indeed, people have opened the doors wide for licentiousness. Deep darkness and black night have thrown horrible shadows over the hearts and spirits of humanity, after the thick mists of civilization have veiled the true realities from people’s eyes. As a result, they have sunk into the gloominess of drinking and rakishness in an attempt to forget such facts. Humanity has begun to live a life filled with anxiety and confusion, which has overcome illumination and bliss and has veiled the light of justice which controls everything. Alarm has crept into people’s chests because of humanity’s oppression of humanity, which is causing stormy suffering to overflow, such that our store of tears has become exhausted due to the cruelty and blindness of the people of this civilization. There is a horrible incubus weighing upon the hearts of humanity; spirits have settled for a humbleness that has exceeded P
  • 13. THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST 12 all bounds only in order to earn a bitter living; wrongdoing has astounded all beings, although it issues from people who claim to be civilized, humane and moralistic. A great gala of whimpers has spread to every corner of the earth now that the strong hold sway over the weak, men have overpowered women and children, and the rich have control of the poor. Cries of anguish and groans are following each other in quick succession, and there is continuous suffering from excruciating pain. Virtue has been assassinated whereas vice holds the scepter of principality, allowing it to multiply tragedies of shame and loss. All noble merits have been buried as Satan has become the absolute master over the spirits of humanity, to the point that they have lost their light and happiness. Shyness has been destroyed, paving the way for the devils to act freely. At this stage, various sorts of affliction have begun to prevail everywhere, and feelings of discontent are overwhelming people’s hearts so that life has turned into an unbearable hell. People have now neglected the Holy Qur’an, just as those before them neglected the Gospel and Torah, causing the truth to be obliterated. Humankind has rushed madly towards science—not the science of the Grand God but rather the science of weak creatures—and has taken it as a god. They have kept aloof from the Source of all perfection and the Lord of every bliss and pleasure; consequently, there is now no way to enjoy happiness, and humanity has begun to drown in a sea of misery and bitterness. God says: “Whosoever turns away from My Message, truly for him is a life narrowed down…” The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 1 20, Ta Ha ‘Ta-ha’ (Pure), verse 124 People have resorted to spirits and drugs and have quaffed from them as a means to forget their suffering for a while. But 1 ‘Fortress’: this word means a ‘Surah’ of the Holy Qur’an.
  • 14. Foreword by Prof. Abdul-Kadir John Alias Al-Dayrani 13 alas! No sooner do they sober up than they find the reality in which they live to have become even more bitter and more grievous, more savage and more tyrannical. This has become so true that, in countries that are the sources of an illusionary and delusive civilization, a large number of people have been driven by hopelessness, frustration and despondency to resort to suicide, and so dispense with all that had infatuated them in this worldly life. However, time has now finished its cycle, and the spirits have become weary of shunning God. Diseases have encamped in their bodies until their eyes have become dim and their hearts are in their throats. Voices have begun to call people to turn back to the truth, for persistence is wrong, returning is more worthy, and repenting is better and more favorable to God. The Compassionate and the Merciful is not pleased unless He saves humanity from such degradation. Therefore, when they shunned God and turned away from the Creator of all universes and of the heavens and the earth, He drove all sorts of distress, misery and scourges to them, and let them taste the bitter outcomes of their tyranny, aggression, and corruption. Having passed through a series of hardships, people then turned towards their Provider, asking for salvation from the Lord of salvation. Thus the Provider responded to their call, telling them “…I listen to the prayer of every supplicant when they call on Me…”. The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 2, Al-Baqara (The Cow), verse 186 God told them that He would change their unhappiness into bliss and their heartache and worry into delight and airiness. He gave them glad tidings that He would spread gardens and everlasting felicity across their land. The time has approached for a noble and great Envoy to be sent back to allow humanity to live under the wings of repose and revival, feeling good cheer and safety with satisfaction.
  • 15. THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST 14 Such will be our state in the present life, when our master Jesus Christ comes into view once again to be the lord of all worlds in his age. Then, when we come back to God, He will be pleased with us and will allow us to ascend from one degree of bliss and happiness to others even higher and loftier. In the past, the great Jesus was sent to this world in order to give guidance to his people, to help them, and to rouse their thought, so that they might move away from false happiness in order to recognize the luminous and shining truth, and to gain great benefits. Although he (pth) spared no effort in showing them the right path, and although he was made to bear countless difficult troubles because he sought to help them enjoy happiness, they did not listen to his logical speech. They preferred to continue in their blindness rather than to become illuminated by God’s Light. In fact, love of this world is the reason lying behind every sin. It inflames wicked desires in one’s spirit, and causes thought to become inactive. If this love settles in one’s heart, such a person’s life will be embittered and they will be exhausted, and then they will be thrown into a gulf of vice and pitilessness. He (pth) gave life to dead people and healed the lepers and the deaf; he displayed many miracles before the very eyes of his people. However, although they watched all these miracles, and despite sensing and witnessing his perfect morals and kindness, they denied his mission and were ungrateful for such a grace because their hearts were fully attracted by the love of this world. Furthermore, they accused him of dealing with magic (far be it from him). Their lowly interests prevented his sublime and unprecedented merits from fully entering into their minds, just as their unsound perspective prevented them from perceiving his high and sound speech which came to them directly from God. They blinked at
  • 16. Foreword by Prof. Abdul-Kadir John Alias Al-Dayrani 15 his kindness, perfection, mercy and tenderness. Out of their ignorance, they did not know the reality of the man with whom they pleaded. In this way, they denied the Revelation, and put their fingers in their ears in order not to hear the Call of their Merciful Provider. Therefore it was inevitable that they would descend from their high rank, thus losing sight of the lofty task with which God had charged them. They uttered words of unbelief; what terrible words they were! They depended on sheer supposition rather than certainty when they claimed that he (pth) was the Antichrist, and defamed his faithful mother, the purest woman of any nation. Addressing our Lady Mary on the tongue of His angels, God says: “…‘Oh Mary! Al’lah has chosen you and purified you— chosen you above the women of all nations’.” The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 3, Al ‘Imran (The Family of ‘Imran), verse 42 Thus it was as though they had fallen from heaven and been snatched up by birds, or as though the wind had swooped down and thrown them into a bottomless pit. This was the reaction of the Jews to our master Jesus. As for the Christians, when they ascribed godhood to him and his mother (ptt), their perspective was absolutely removed from any logic and reality; he (pth) was completely distant from polytheism, which is the worst type of wrongdoing. It had never occurred to his mind to obey anyone other than God, since he was watching Him and was immersed in His Sublime Presence. He was wholly preoccupied by God when absent from this world and never separated from Him when he returned to it. He was a witness that was seeing by God’s Light. What they attributed to him (pth) was without grounds and did not exist within him, for he had surrendered himself to Al’lah in body, soul and spirit. I wonder, how did they fabricate such a claim about him, although he (pth) was entirely innocent of it?!
  • 17. THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST 16 All his actions and words (pth) refuted this belief, for he (pth) spared no effort in warning them against false worship. The noble verse referred to this when he (pth) addressed his people, saying: “…‘whoever joins other gods with Al’lah, Al’lah will forbid him the Garden’…” The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 5, Al-Ma’ida (The Table), verse 72 Therefore it is necessary to clarify the truth for everybody through this book, The Envoy of Peace Looms on the Horizon: The Return of Jesus Christ, wherein we shed light on the whole story of Jesus Christ (pth). We also explain the indications of the Hour which will take place before his appearance, on the way revealing the intended meaning of ‘the Hour’, along with many other important points. In dealing with these questions we will depend on sound logic, referring to clear verses from the Holy Qur’an and to perceivable and sensible actualities of life. In this way we will rebut the untrue and baseless allegations of certain people, which are completely removed from the reality. This book is quite new. Its concept is unusual and unfamiliar. However, it is not heresy, since the humane scholar Mohammad Amin Sheikho (his soul has been sanctified by Al’lah) derived his knowledge only from God’s Book, and from the sacred sun’na of His Envoy 2 (communication with Al’lah and peace are through him). Everything that is written in this book is taken from his Qur’anic science. The reader will find the meanings contained in this book quite strange, and no wonder! Religion itself has become strange and new, because the majority of people have put aside what God sent down, and are following books ascribed to their forefathers. Muslims have stopped using the Holy Qur’an, and confine themselves to the Prophetic Tradition, to jurisprudence, and to other sources, without taking into consideration whether or not they agree with the Holy Qur’an. 2 The word ‘Envoy’ also means ‘Messenger.’
  • 18. Foreword by Prof. Abdul-Kadir John Alias Al-Dayrani 17 The Qur’an is disregarded, hence religion has become new. When we neglect the Qur’an and the contemplation of its verses, we have neglected the whole religion. That is really what has happened in this age, and therefore Islam has become only a name and the Qur’an only a shape. There is no benefit in most of the heritage that has come into our hands in the form of books attributed to old legal scholars. These scholars should have turned people’s attention to consideration of the cosmic signs of Al’lah and to thinking of the significance of the Holy Qur’an. Instead, however, they filled people’s minds with foolish nonsense, fables, and Israeli stories, and spent their time elaborating on unimportant issues. Their aim in this was to turn people away from the path of belief, to keep them from understanding the magnificent meaning of the great Qur’an. They did so by leading them to sink deep into an ocean of jurists’ contradictions and differing views, so that one does not know which ideas to adopt. Anyone who wants to travel through such an ocean must be a skillful swimmer or have a boat to sail in and the companionship of a guide. Otherwise, they will be swallowed up by the waves— unless a grace from their Lord reaches them—and these waves will throw them into the depths of darkness of suspicion, with one layer of darkness on top of another. That is because “…any to whom Al’lah gives not light, there is no light.”: a light by which one can be guided in their deeds and affairs. The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 24, An-Nur (Light), verse 40 God says: “You who believe! See by Al’lah’s Light and believe in His Envoy, and then He will grant you two portions of His Mercy: He will provide a light for you by which you can walk, and He will forgive you: for Al’lah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 57, Al-Hadid (Iron), verse 28
  • 19. THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST 18 Piety—that is to say, seeing by Al’lah’s Light (Al-Takwa in Arabic)—is accomplished after entering into Al’lah’s Presence in heart and spirit in the company of His Envoy (cpth). 3 The Almighty Al’lah bid us to follow His Revelation, not to follow the ways of our forefathers. He has not ordered us to take them as Lords, listening to their words instead of the Words of God. One should not be deluded by those millions of people who are pleased with and believe in what their ancestors brought forth. The fact is that most people are following nothing but conjecture, although conjecture avails nothing against truth. God says: “And if you obey most of those on the earth, they will lead you far away from Al’lah’s Path. They follow nothing but conjecture, and they do nothing but keep silent.” The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 6, Al-An’am (Livestock), verse 116 They are unable to rebut the truth when they are faced with it. They have no answer, either in this world or in the world to come. Al’lah (glory to His Name) brought humanity into this life and gave them guidance. He says: “Indeed, We take it upon Ourselves to guide.” The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 92, Al-Layl (The Night), verse 12 For this reason He sent noble Envoys to them, to act as teachers and leaders and to show them the way of belief. This was so that they would not be misled by the majority of the dwellers on the earth, so that they would not mistake the right way. Those who do not join the school of the Envoys and follow in their footsteps, and those who do not study and abide by what God reveals through their tongues, are indeed advancing in directions opposite to that of guidance. All humanity should adopt the counsel of God’s noble Envoys and embrace the same 3 (cpth): communication with Al’lah and peace are through him.

We should enter the same school from which they graduated in order to get their degree; that there is no god but Al’lah. This statement was the eye with which they saw reality, the ear with which they heard, the tongue with which they spoke, and the heart with which they perceived the significance of God’s Words—and it is He Who knows all the secrets of this universe. By your Lord! Anyone that has not graduated from this school will not become a believer, even if they read the books of both the ancient and the latter times, 4 even if they see the most difficult of all things to achieve with their own eyes, and even if the dead speak unto them. God says: “Truth is attained by your Provider…”: by your Provider, you, oh My beloved, Mohammad (cpth)! “…thus you will never be one of those who do not see.” The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 2, Al-Baqara (The Cow), verse 147 As for those who do not seek to believe in God, He will not grant them a light and a criterion by which they can distinguish right from wrong, and between what is advantageous and what is disadvantageous. This school does not close its doors. It is always open to anybody who seeks knowledge about God or about His Book, for such knowledge is not restricted to one nation over another or to one time instead of another; The Treasures of the Mercy of your Lord are not intended to be bestowed upon one group of people to deprive another. God says: “Such is the Bounty of Al’lah, which He bestows on whom He will…” The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 62, Al-Jumu'a (The Congregation of Friday), verse 4 That is, God will certainly grant a portion of His Limitless Favor to anyone who truthfully seeks enjoyment of His Bounty. 4 We will explain the way of faith at the end of the book.
  • 21. THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST 20 The Almighty sent all His Envoys and His greatest Envoy (cpth) as a mercy for all nations. He did not single out one nation to receive this grace so that another would miss out. That is what the noble verse indicates in God’s Saying: “Of the Bounties of your Provider, We bestow freely on all these as well as those; the bounties of your Provider, none are deprived of.” The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 17, Al-Isra’ (The Night Journey), verse 20 All creatures are alike in the Sight of Al’lah. When a person is honest in seeking something, God will surely allow them access to it. However, the law is that everyone receives in proportion to their truthfulness and labor. God says: “…truly, the most honored of you in the Sight of Al’lah is the most illuminated of you by Al’lah’s Light…” The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 49, Al-Hujurat (The Private Apartments), verse 13 In the past, the Quraish tribe, which was the tribe of our master Mohammad (cpth), denied his prophecy. They said to him what is quoted in the noble verse: “What! Has the Message been sent to him, of all persons among us?...”: The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 38, Sâd (The Letter, S = True), verse 8 They meant to ask: did God choose him alone out of all of the people of Quraish?! Why him in particular?! Indeed, he was not chosen to receive the Message only out of all of the people of Quraish, but rather out of all of the people of all nations. He was chosen because he (cpth) was faithful in his intention and serious in striving to recognize the Creator of this existence. He left no single gate in Mecca without passing through it, left no valley without having walked in it, and left no mountain therein unclimbed. He spent his days and burned the

In the meantime, the people of Quraish were wholly immersed in amusement, play and evening parties, completely distracted by the ornaments and vanities of this world. Before wondering about this, one should—even once—try to follow the same way that was followed by this ideal person (cpth). I wonder, can traditional belief or the reference to books that were written in the past and which conflict with the Holy Qur’an lead to true faith in God and in the life to come? Have you not noticed how many verses the false interpreters pass over without commentary in their explanations, as if they do not see them? Has not God, the Almighty, commanded us to consider the creation of the heavens and the earth? The purpose of thinking about death in places of privacy is to make the spirit renounce the transient and lowly life. The purpose of contemplation of God’s creation in places far from worldly pleasures is to recognize the Provider of all beings. What explanation will they believe in after they have rejected Al’lah and His Signs? Are they waiting for guidance from the Lord of all worlds to come to them by itself, without their seeking it, and without following the same way that was followed by our father Abraham (pth)? Is it possible for them to be guided without first trying to make even a little effort? How will God give guidance to people who spend their lifetime in centers of amusement, and their energy in fun or in foolish chatter? Is it possible for God to give guidance to those whose hearts neglect the remembrance of Him, who follow their own desires, and whose case has gone beyond all bounds?
  • 23. THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST 22 Had Al’lah willed it, He could have guided all of humanity to what is right. However, what benefit can a human being derive when it is driven to something by force? Will their spirit not remain distant—or rather, draw even further away—if a person is obliged to do something they do not like? True guidance is only achieved when the human being voluntarily turns themselves towards God of their own accord, in order to gain the faith that is associated with witnessing what is real with the eye of the spirit. This witnessing helps them to ascertain and realize these realities, and become sure of them in their heart. If they gain access to this kind of belief, when they say the statement, ‘I witness that there is no god but Al’lah’, they will witness the meaning of these words. This is because faith in reality is accomplished by viewing with the eye of head during the first stage, and then by viewing with the eye of heart. In this stage, one can witness the Goodness and Justice of God, and can feel His Mercy and Love flooding throughout all of existence. Thus, they know with certainty that His Compassion does not come before His Justice, and He—the Almighty—does not give way to His Wrath before His Clemency. He (glory to Him) stands firm on justice, and truly it is He that is on a straight path. God alone has goodness for the beneficent and the injurious alike, and the one who does not witness this in this world will witness it in the hereafter. This is an absolute fact and since it is so, there is no injustice among people, and since there is no injustice, there is no evil. What we consider to be evil is but sheer goodness to the afflicted one, because this evil will save them from a greater evil, and this evil would not have befallen them if they had not done something bad. Opening the belly is an evil act for the healthy person but it is good for the one who suffers from a stomach ailment. Injustice is done to one who deserves it, and the oppressor directs their oppression only to someone like

God says: “Thus We let some of the wrong-doers have power over others because of what they are wont to earn.”: The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 6, Al-An’am (Livestock), verse 129 Through experiencing such a disaster, a person might retreat from their tyranny and remember their sin, and then totally repent to God. At that time the injustice will vanish, and God the Almighty might let them have power over those who oppressed them. This behavior is not limited to individuals, but also applies to nations and peoples. The nation with more capacity for faith than another will suffer from the injustice of a more oppressive nation by God’s Order, so that it might turn to God and stop its evil, in this way returning to God. God will then change their sins into good deeds, and will give power to the oppressed over those who had oppressed them. This is not so that they can be attacked with violence and revenge, but to make them return to the straight path of righteousness and goodness. By deeds, humankind is divided into three types: 1 The humane 2 Those who do wrong to themselves—‘oppressors’—and act in a brutal way to achieve their whims 3 Those who do wrong to themselves—‘oppressors’—and act in a devilish manner to achieve their low and mean whims This division applies to both individuals and nations. Nowadays, the humane person in the full sense of the word is very rare, and this leaves the oppressor and the more oppressive. In this case, God gives a more oppressive nation power over an oppressive one, so that the latter may cast its negligence aside
  • 25. THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST 24 and return to its humanity. God will then change its weakness into strength, its humiliation into glory, and its defeat into a victory over those who visited wrong upon it. The purpose is to help them, in turn, repent to God. In this way all humanity can be rid of the misery they live in and relieve themselves of all kinds of afflictions from which they suffer. But alas! What is going on in this era shows that hope in humanity’s repentance to God is about to become impossible. Therefore: “…the unbelievers, never will disaster cease to seize them or to settle close to their homes for their (ill) deeds until the Promise of Al’lah comes to pass, for truly, Al’lah will not fail in His Promise.” The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 13, Ar-Ra’d (The Thunder), verse 31 For this reason, the affliction is impending and the Hour is very near. Hence Jesus Christ (pth)—the Savior of humanity from unhappiness and suffering, and from unbelief and deprivation—looms in the horizon, and: “…on that day believers shall rejoice with the Help of Al’lah. He helps whom He will, and He is Exalted in Might and Most Merciful: (this is) the Promise of Al’lah. Never does Al’lah depart from His Promise, but most people do not understand.” The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 30, Ar-Rum (The Romans), verses 4-6 — Prof. A. K. John Alias Al-Dayrani

Jews believe that the true Jesus Christ will inevitably appear in Palestine, ‘the Promised Land’, and therefore they have done their utmost to put their hands on this country and are now waiting for him (pth). They see that they have to provide him (pth) with an area of this land, so that he can live among them when he appears and becomes the king of the world. Subsequently, they believe that he will raise their prestige in this life over all of the other nations. In their view, the Jesus Christ who came to this life two thousand years ago was a liar, and so they are looking forward to the appearance of the true Messiah in Palestine. This belief is seen by the Jews as an absolute fact. This is why you see that about 70% of the sons of Israel (Bani Isra’eel) have now gathered in Palestine, due to their belief that the master Messiah is certain to appear among them in the Promised Land. Such a doctrine is completely different from that of our brothers, the Christians, who suppose that Jesus Christ will not come back in body, but rather will spread his spirituality over J

With respect to the Muslims, they are waiting for Jesus Christ in order for him to kill the Antichrist and the Jews, as well as breaking the cross. Now, the question is: Where is Jesus Christ?! Is he on earth or in heaven?! Is it true that he will really come back once again? What is the proof of his return (pth)? In the Holy Qur’an, God addressed His prophet Jesus, saying: “…‘oh Jesus! I am going to take you back’…” The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 3, Al ‘Imran (The Family of ‘Imran), verse 55 Do these words indicate that our master Jesus has died, but that God will bring him back to life again? In other words, does this verse refer to his resurrection (pth) in order that he be sent back to this world again? However we must ask, why would God bring him (pth) into view once more? What about his mother, our Lady, the Virgin Mary? Will he (pth) come back alone or together with her (pth)?! Some say that he (pth) will return, carried by two angels, soaring over the city of Damascus, and then will be put on the minaret, called the Jesus Minaret, of the Umayyad Mosque. We wonder, is there any Qur’anic proof or logical evidence referring to this?! Will he (pth) stand by the Muslims or Christians or Jews? Will he bring a new Bible that is different from the old one? Will he instead reveal the truth that is stated in the Holy Qur’an?! All of these obscure questions—and many others—will be clearly answered in this book, The Envoy of Peace Looms on
  • 28. Preface 27 the Horizon: The Return of Jesus Christ, which presents unique knowledge to us, all of which is taken from the heavenly sciences of the great humane scholar Mohammad Amin Sheikho (his soul has been sanctified by Al’lah). This book is completely different from any other book. It is quite new in its contents and introduces concepts that humanity has never heard the like of before. However, it does not introduce heresy; rather, it is based on God’s Book (the Holy Qur’an) and the true Prophetic Traditions of His noble Envoys, our two masters Mohammad and Jesus (cptt), which are in agreement with the Speech of Him, the Almighty. This book reviews a group of ruined nations that are mentioned in the Holy Qur’an, clarifying the individual reason for the ruin of each of them. Then, in an excellent way, it explains the creeds and principles that are followed by the people of the present time in order to let the reader judge for themselves whether we are walking a path that leads to safety, or if we deserve to meet the same destruction that afflicted the previous nations discussed! For example, are we going to be drowned by a flood like the one that struck the people of our master Noah (pth), or perhaps by a wind like the one that destroyed the people of ‘Ad? Could we be crushed by a cry similar to the one that descended upon the people of Thamoud, or annihilated by a cloud, as with the people of Shoaib (pth)? Will we instead disappear under earthquakes and be burned by volcanoes, as happened in the case of the people of Lot (pth)? This book contains explanation and cogent proof, leading to the conclusion that the people of the current age deserve to be utterly destroyed in a terrible Hour that will make children white-haired. This Hour will be more bitter and more
  • 29. THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST 28 calamitous than any of the scourges that befell either the nations of old already mentioned or the nations that came after them. It will be even more severe than any of the current disasters which are taking place in the lands of unbelief and ingratitude for the Grand God, including tsunamis, earthquakes, hurricanes, floods, fires, and other disasters. This book reveals how the Great Powers are driving all of the nations of this world to go under when this Hour comes, because of their developed civilization. These Powers are leading the world towards impending destruction and unquestionable perdition, and the only tools used in this are what they invented by means of their technological rise and development. This is based on atomic research and is directed towards a planetary nuclear war. However, along with the undoubted coming ruin—which will cover the whole earth from east to west, and will reach every spot that is reached by night and by day, so as to wipe out unbelief, and its people, and all of its motives—the believers will be made happy by the appearance of our master the Messiah (pth). He is a sign of the approach of the Hour, and is the savior and deliverer of mankind. Who are these believers who will be happy at his coming (pth)? Are they Muslims, Jews or Christians? The people of each of these three religions are waiting for him (pth). The community of which of these three religions will be qualified to follow him (pth), and therefore to become the masters of this world and of the unbelievers until Doomsday? This is what is revealed in the complete study that is found in the pages of this book, paving the way for every true lover who is longing to meet this noble Envoy and become one of his followers. Before this, the book clearly outlines the indications of the Hour, all of which have taken place without being noticed by

It gives practical, factual and sensible proof of the manifestation of these indications, including:  How Jerusalem has moved out of the hands of the Muslims and into the control of the Israelites  The sun’s rise in the west  The splitting of the moon  The emergence of the ground crawler  The penetration through the confines of the heavens and the earth  The spread of Ya’jooj and Ma’jooj (the people of corruption who flamed the fire of luxury and adornment and caused nations, one after another, to be stirred up by this fire)  The earth becoming clad in golden ornaments and decked out in beauty  The emergence of smoke and its continual spreading across the earth The book also mentions some minor signs of the Hour, such as the invention of wire and wireless telephones, mobile phones, cars, planes, and many other indications. Then, with deep and matchless fluency, it gives us glaring and undoubted evidence of the coming of the long-desired hope, so that there is no possibility for desperation or hopelessness to creep into the hearts of those who are certain of the approach of this Hour. This hope is none other than the noble Envoy, our master Jesus (pth), the cause of salvation and the ship of escape in our era. By way of example rather than providing an exhaustive list, we mention the following signs, although there are many others.
  • 31. THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST 30 This evidence firstly includes his noble name: ‘Jesus, the Messiah.’ In Arabic this indicates his certain return. Secondly, there is the notability promised him in this world by God, as we know this was not granted during his first coming. Thirdly, the book moves on to explain the miracle of how he (pth) speaks to people when middle-aged, as mentioned in the Holy Qur’an. This will not intuitively be regarded as a miracle unless he (pth) comes back into view after a long absence, exceeding twenty centuries. Fourthly, there is the inevitable belief of the people of scripture in him (pth) before his death, after a group of them met him with denial in his first coming, while the others worshiped him alongside God. Then, these minor signs end with his return (pth), reading purified chapters, after his people have divided themselves into Jews and Christians. In this book, suspicions which have confused many people will be wiped away, allowing the truth to manifest itself and removing any obscurity or misunderstanding. The reader can understand the real meaning of the phrase ‘taking back’ mentioned in the Holy Qur’an. In his story (pth), this does not refer to his death, but to his sleeping throughout his long absence, exactly as happened with the Sleepers of the Cave. In addition to this there are many cogent demonstrations of his human nature (pth), just as in the case of all the other great Envoys of God. This book also uncovers the reason for the descent of the first teacher and the father of humanity, Adam (pth), from Paradise. Along the way, it explains many important points about the reason for our exodus to this world. It proves the impeccability of this great prophet, Adam (pth), and his absolute innocence of any disobedience. On the other hand, the book shows the great benefits of the arrival of humanity to the abode of work, responsibility and discomfort. Finally, the book concludes by showing how humanity can escape from the terrors of this horrible Hour and gain a meeting

  • 36. 35 On the Meaning of the Hour umanity suffers from acute spiritual anguish in this age. This is due to the intense material domination of everyday life that is caused by the technological revolution. Casting its dark shadow over our spirits, it obstructs the sources of light and separates our souls from the abode of eternity. This revolution has made people lose themselves in mental mazes which are sometimes contradictory and are often internally complicated. The scientific and technological revolution was a dream that inspired the imaginations of a number of thinkers, who looked on it as a savior from poverty, disease and ignorance. Since the end of the nineteenth century, they have given free rein to their thoughts and come to have an excessive and unreal belief in their revolution. They wage a violent war against the old beliefs and laws, claiming that they no longer serve any purpose, but instead have grown old and become worn out. After deciding that the ancient beliefs and laws are old and worn out, they proceeded to sentence God to death, 1 announcing the birth of a new god: the god of human science and deep thought. This new god, they claimed, would subject nature to them in ways that were not possible for the old god. People believed in the message of this new god, particularly in the west and the Far East. They turned their faces away from 1 Please refer to the book of Nietzsche Thus Spoke Zarathustra. H

In their blindness they substituted other codes for them, inspired by the servants of the devil. The birth of this ‘god’ has titillated the imaginations of those that are infatuated with him. But alas! He brought forth a fire which tempts humanity to behave in a way which may well cause their utter destruction, along with that of the rest of the world. However, having at first believed his food to be beneficial, they realized that in reality it causes those who eat it to choke and suffer in burning torment. They also realized that the happiness they have dreamt of is no more than a mirage in the desert. Those who favor the lower earthly existence think that it is water that grants life, happiness and bliss; however, when they reach it, they find that it was nothing but a delusion, mere pain and wretchedness; this is enough to act as a lesson if only they give it due consideration. The Creator of heaven and earth designed the universe to conform to a strict set of rules in order that it should be as good as it could possibly be. He laid down laws which agreed with the natural dispositions of the human race. Having set up these extremely majestic and magnificent rules, He gave humans the chance to think for themselves. This begins when they are semen, and continues throughout the stages of their formation in the womb. After birth they saw how the heavens were raised on high, how the stars were fixed firmly in position, how the mountains were put in place, how the seas were filled, how all the different kinds of beasts which He has dispersed over the earth were created, and how all manner of beneficial plants were brought up out of the soil by Him. We wonder: who did all those things? Who is the Great Creator who has allowed us and all of the other creatures to exist since the beginning of time; from the very beginning, up to now and throughout history? It is He, the Almighty; He designed His Laws to agree with our natural dispositions which we inherited from His Grand

They were established upon strict rules which uplift our spirits, thus allowing them to communicate with their Creator. Once this point has been reached, our spirits can escape from the slavery of material domination, under the influence of which the spirit descends to a wretched level of existence. Communication with God drives fear away from the believer’s heart; the older they grow as they approach their inevitable fate, the more that hope grows in their hearts so that they no longer care whether they are lucky in this life or not. Similarly, they never mind if they become ill or suffer hardship, as they have no doubt that this life is temporal, whereas the hereafter is eternal and filled with happiness. Unlike the believers, people who take delight in the life of this world—those who content themselves with it and hold it in high esteem—become more worried as they enter the autumn of their years. They become more aggrieved and distressed when life laughs at them or turns away from them, or when they suffer hardship. Those who expect their god to make the present life as perfect as paradise for them, and to allow them to take more from nature than it grants by itself: these people are the deluded ones. They are the ones who are cheated—not only in the next life, but in this worldly life too. In the lower life, they hope to achieve what belongs to the heavenly life through their god, and they hope that he will give them fine palaces to live in. Instead, he will thwart their dreams and burn them in his terrible fire. When his wrath is turned upon them, the civilization they have built by his means will be left as nothing but a desolate and empty wasteland. The technological revolution is the frustration of humanity in our times; it turns people away from true happiness which cannot be compared with its false and sensory reflection. It frustrates because the latter is not in fact happiness; rather it is merely the amusement of the self in base pleasures and passing desires. What

The spirit’s yearnings are many, and its capability is unlimited; in contrast, our bodily capability is restricted. The difference between these two powers is the cause of pain and wretchedness; joining an unlimited power to a limited one makes the latter unable to fulfill the wishes of the former. The spirit is like an unruly horse; whenever it fulfills a desire, it tirelessly seeks another, because the nature of its construction is immaterial. The Almighty did not create unbounded power so that it would be filled with dirt. Rather it was created that it be filled with absolute beauty and that it might drink from the inexhaustible spring of perfection. How different these two states are! In one, false pleasures—which are to be terminated before the spirit leaves this life—result in boredom and weariness mixed with distress, grief and pain. In the other, the spirit experiences a lasting and growing happiness 2 from which it can never be separated. In the life to come, there is nothing but truth: falsehood ceases to exist. Therefore, the spirits of those who turn away from Al’lah in the present life come before their Creator in a state of blindness on the Day of Resurrection. This is the result of being too absorbed in gratifying the desires of the lower life, and neglecting to discern what is right before its end. God says: “Those who give no heed to My Reminder shall live in woe and come before Us in blindness on the Day of Resurrection. ‘Provider!’ they will say, ‘why have You brought us blind before You when in our lifetimes we were blessed with sight?’ He will answer: ‘so were you,’…”: you were blind- hearted in the worldly life. “…‘Our Revelations were declared to you and you forgot them; would you be forgotten this day?’ ”: shall We forget you today? It is necessary to force your spirit to accept the cure for its sickness. The Holy Qur’an, Fortres 20, Ta Ha (Ta-Ha = Pure), verses 124-126 2 Kindly, refer to the book of the great humane scholar Mohammad Amin Sheikho (his soul has been sanctified by Al’lah), Is Happiness Really Beyond Reach?!
  • 40. On the Meaning of the Hour 39 This fact is supported by the Almighty’s Saying: “…it is the heart within the bosom and not the eyes that is blind.” The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 22, Al-Hajj (The Pilgrimage), verse 46 And the Holy Saying: “He who has been blind in this life shall be blind in the life to come and go further astray.” The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 17, Al-Isra’ (The Night Journey), verse 72 Because the Almighty wants us to be happy, He inflicts those who do not believe in Him with the lightest chastisement before the greatest chastisement. This gives them the chance to turn their back on what makes them wretched and seek what makes them happy in both this life and the afterlife. Doing so delivers them from their infatuation with the earthly life, which is the cause of all pain and misery. The Almighty says: “And indeed, We will make them taste of the lightest chastisement before the greatest chastisement in order that they may repent and return.” The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 32, As-Sajda (The Prostration) verse 21 The word “…may…” here shows clearly the absolute freedom of choice afforded to humanity. In other words: if they break the laws that the Almighty has sent down to them, and they reach a point where repenting and returning to Him becomes impossible, they will then fall into complete and utter destruction. The Almighty has given us clear examples of what became of previous civilizations, such as the people of Noah, ‘Ad, Thamoud, and Pharaoh, who disregarded the laws that were designed to bring them happiness. He has shown us clearly how they refused to crush the obstacles that prevented them from following the path that leads to Al’lah, the Almighty. As for today, no matter how humanity tries to escape the pain and misery which afflict them; no matter how people try to
  • 41. THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST 40 shed the neurotic anxiety that clings to them like their shadows; no matter how they try to get away from their emptiness and extreme immorality, or from the interlacing and contrasting mental mazes through which they hope to reach their desired happiness: no matter how they try, they will never succeed. In order to escape all these things they must return Al’lah’s Laws to the earth in their words and deeds, and apply them earnestly. However, if they fail (as they are sure to fail), let them then expect earthquakes, volcanoes, devastating hurricanes and fatal diseases, just as has happened in our times, and just as will happen again. Let them wait for the fire that will melt solid iron and crumble the hardest stone in the Third World War. This punishment is not distant for the unjust. God says: “Such is the scourge which your Provider has visited upon the sinful nations. His Punishment is stern and harrowing.”: this is a Godly Law; any civilization that takes up this course deserves ruin. The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 11, Hud (Hud), verse 102 In His Holy Qur’an, the Almighty provides us with plenty of stories about the destruction of nations that forsook the Godly Rules and obeyed the laws of their whims. He first reveals to us what prevented them from returning to the right religion, and then describes the regrettable results that ensued. Before their utter destruction, the Almighty would send them an Envoy to warn them of the consequences of their false beliefs and deeds, which were in violation of the rules of existence. These Envoys would show them how their beliefs would bring them nothing but misery and sorrow, and would distance them from the source of true happiness. On the whole however, their words fell upon deaf ears and closed hearts, as these peoples’ minds had become utterly obsessed with materialism. This materialism completely overwhelmed them so that they could never prosper.
  • 42. On the Meaning of the Hour 41 They would not succeed, as their ignorance of Al’lah and their refusal to believe in Him had made them hasten: “…evil rather than good, yet many were the examples of those who were ruined before them…”: what happened to the ancient nations? What were they afflicted by?! The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 13, Ar-Ra’d (The Thunder), verse 6 Now, before illustrating the meaning of ‘the Hour’ in which our master Jesus Christ (peace is through him) will come, and before we differentiate between it and the final hour (Doomsday), we will first review the beliefs and the acts of the aforementioned destroyed nations, and the dialogue between their people and their Envoys. Then we will investigate the reasons that prevented them from complying with Al’lah’s Call. Finally, we will outline the lamentable end to which they came. If we succeed in doing this—in which we hope to receive Al’lah’s Aid—the meaning of the Hour will be unveiled, and every confusion will vanish as a result of the comparison between the hour in which our master Jesus will come again to eliminate the pains of humankind, thus saving them, and the hour in which the resurrection will occur. The first nation which the Almighty mentions in His Holy Book and which was destroyed because of its deviation from the right path is the nation of our master Noah (pth). 3 Those nations given as examples by Al’lah are a sufficient sermon and clear lesson for those who have an open heart by which to think, or who pay attention to the truth and thus witness reality. This is because the answer that people gave to the Envoys whom Almighty Al’lah did not mention is the same as the answer given 3 (pth): peace is through him.
  • 43. THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST 42 to the ones mentioned in the Holy Qur’an, 4 or the answer given to any god-fearing individual who guides people towards virtue. God says: “Nothing is said to you that has not been said to other Envoys before you. Your Provider is Forgiving and of stern retribution.” The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 41, Fussilat (Explained), verse 43 In another Fortress, He (glory to His Name) says: “Thus whenever an Envoy came to those before them they said: ‘Sorcerer!’ Or ‘Mad man!’ Have they handed down this saying from one generation to the next? No, they are only transgressing people.” The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 51, Adh-Dhariyat (Sun Rays), verses 52-53 Abo Al-Fath Ahmad Al-Shahrastani referred to this concept in his book Sects and Creeds. He said: “Those who argued with Noah, Hud, Sa’leh, Abraham, Lot, Sho’aib, Moses, Jesus and Mohammad (peace is through them) all trod in the footsteps of the cursed devil when he exposed his own stupidity by rebelling against Al’lah. The intent of their argument was either to acquit themselves of responsibility or to deny the favor of all those who had been given a message to deliver.” There is no difference between their saying “…‘shall mortals be our guides?’…” The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 64, At-Taghabun (The Apparent Loss), verse 6 …and his saying: “…‘do I prostrate myself to whom You have created out of mud?’ ” The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 17, Al-Isra’ (The Night Journey), verse 61 4 God says: “We have sent forth other Envoys before you; of some you have already heard, of others We have told you nothing. However, none of these could work a miracle except by Al’lah’s Permission. When Al’lah’s Will is done, justice will prevail and those who have denied His Signs will come to grief.” [e Holy Qur’an, Fortress 40, Ghafir (e Forgiver God), verse 78].
  • 44. On the Meaning of the Hour 43 Thus the reason for all disagreement on the issue and the very essence of this disunity can be explained very simply. As it is said in God’s Saying: “Nothing prevents people from having faith when guidance is revealed to them but the excuse: would Al’lah have sent a human being as an Envoy?” The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 17, Al-Isra’ (The Night Journey), verse 94 Therefore He clarified that the cause of unbelief has this meaning. In the very earliest of times we can see what Satan said when Al’lah asked him a question: “…‘why did you not prostrate yourself, since I have commanded you?’ He (the devil) said: ‘I am better than him (Adam); You have created me out of fire but him out of mud’.” The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 7, Al-A’raf (The Heights), verse 12 So it was with his descendants who came after him. He said through the tongue of Pharaoh: “ ‘Am I not better than this undignified one?!’ ” The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 43, Az-Zukhruf (Ornaments of Luxury), verse 52 The same tone can be found in the sayings of those who came later; as we shall see, they correspond exactly with their predecessors. God says: “The ignorant asked: ‘Why does Al’lah not speak to us or give us a sign?’ Thus the same demand was made by those before them: their hearts are all alike…” The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 2, Al-Baqara (The Cow), verse 118 The previous verse: “Thus whenever an Envoy came to those before them they said: ‘Sorcerer!’ Or ‘Mad man!’ ”, is regarded as one of the rules which neither alter nor change throughout the ages.
  • 45. THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST 44 Wherever the word “such…” or sometimes “thus…” is mentioned in the Holy Qur’an, as it is mentioned in this verse, it indicates that most of the speech that follows it is a law or a rule. The Almighty was referring to one of these rules when He said: “Such has been the rule of Al’lah with those who have gone before them. You shall find no change in the rule of God.” The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 33, Al-Ahzab (The Combined Clans), verse 62 These are firm rules and laws: any saying or action on the part of unbelieving ancestors is no different than a saying or action of anyone who comes after them: it makes no sense at all. Therefore, the Almighty Al’lah (glory to Him) gave examples that were limited to a small number of nations. Their sayings demonstrated their doctrines and their conduct. This was done in order to provide clear examples of the damnation that will afflict any nation that adopts their ways and shows the same contempt for its Envoys. We will now study, in some detail, several of the nations to whom these rules were applied. The study will include the following nations: The People of Our Master Noah (Peace is through him) The People of Our Master Hud (Peace is through him) The People of Our Master Sa’leh (Peace is through him) The People of Our Master Lot (Peace is through him) The People of Our Master Sho’aib (Peace is through him)
  • 46. 45 The People of Our Master Noah (Peace is through him) hen God sent forth our master Noah (pth) to his people, he said: “ ‘…I have come to warn you plainly. Obey none but Al’lah. I fear that you may suffer the torment of a woeful day.’ The unbelieving elders of his people replied: ‘we regard you as mortal like ourselves; nor can we find any among your followers but men of hasty judgment, the simplest of our tribe. We see no superiority in you over us: indeed, we think that you are lying’.” The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 11, Hud (Hud), verses 25-27 The call of our master Noah (pth) was like the call of the other noble Envoys of God. It was intended to lead people to obey Al’lah, our Creator, and to ascertain that there is no god except Him. Such a call will remain with us until the Day of Resurrection. It is the most valuable thing that was brought by all the Envoys (peace is through them) for it clarifies the purpose for which we were created. However, it should be noted that the purpose of submitting to God is not so that He can boast of our submission to Him before His angels, as some have claimed. Glory to Him and may He be raised above such a description. The purpose is only so that we may purify our spirits and rid them of their defects. W
  • 47. THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST 46 In fact, the purification of the spirit cannot be accomplished except by attaining a link with God. This link is achieved by communicating with God, and by worshiping Him. This requires complete obedience and absolute surrender to His Commands, which are designed explicitly for our benefit. Once this point is reached, the compliant spirit becomes confident of God’s Satisfaction with it. This new-found confidence allows the spirit to become closer to God, feeling no hesitancy and finding no barrier between it and its Master or His Holy Sight. Once the spirit has entered God’s Presence, it becomes colored with the stain of perfection. God says through His Envoys: “It is the stain of Al’lah. And who gives a better stain than Al’lah? So we 1 do worship Him.” The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 2, Al-Baqara (The Cow), verse 138 The impurities and sins of the spirit are washed away and replaced with morally virtuous qualities once the spirit has achieved this link and this level of intimacy with God, and has accomplished communication with Him. The merits which we acquire from God refine our intentions and improve our deeds, because when spirits become virtuous, deeds become virtuous. When this happens, the entire society follows suit and everybody in such a society lives in a state of happiness and bliss. It is for this purpose that the Almighty wants us to obey His Commands. He wants only to clean our hearts, and to bless us in this life and in the life to come. Our master Noah (pth) told of the Provider’s Revelation, but many of his people refused to accept it as the truth. They said, just like the people of the societies of the other Envoys: “ ‘…we regard you as mortal like ourselves; nor can we find any among your followers but men of hasty judgment, the simplest of our 1 The word ‘we’ here refers to Prophets & Envoys.
  • 48. The People of Our Master Noah (pth) 47 tribe. We see no superiority in you over us: indeed, we think that you are lying’.” The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 11, Hud (Hud), verse 27 This type of denial of an Envoy is bound to prevent people from believing in God. God says: “Nothing prevents people from having faith when guidance is revealed to them but the excuse: would Al’lah have sent a human being as an Envoy?” The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 17, Al-Isra’ (The Night Journey), verses 94 This denial arises from the inability of individuals who are far from God to see the perfection of the noble Envoy. Therefore our master Noah said: “…‘think, my people! If I could know my Provider, and if He bestowed compassion upon me out of His Compassion, even if it is hidden from you, can we compel you to accept it against your will?’ ” The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 11, Hud (Hud), verse 28 So it was with the Quraysh who offered the same denial to our master Mohammad (cpth). God says: “They said: ‘why was this Qur’an not revealed to some mighty man from the two towns?’ ” The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 43, Az-Zukhruf (Ornaments of Luxury), verse 31 As previously mentioned, their objection to Mohammad (cpth) was a result of their blindness to his great sublimity. They evaluate the greatness of men according to the money or the power that they have. In other words, most people take everything at face value, not caring to look further and discover the truth. They do not observe anything deeply enough to see its true greatness, and thus do not achieve illumination by Al’lah’s Light.
  • 49. THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST 48 In the Holy Qur’an, our master Noah (pth) told of how he was shunned by those of his people whom he met. Although he kept inviting them to hear his words day and night, secretly and openly, he found no one who would listen to him. They simply thrust their fingers in their ears and persisted in their unbelief, refusing to hear the truth in their insolent pride. Noah explained to them how the Almighty Al’lah had created them in gradual stages and how He made the seven heavens one above the other, placing in them the moon to light the night and the sun to illuminate the day. He (pth) urged his folk to think of the animals that God had created on earth, and how He had brought forth delectable plants in pairs. Nonetheless, they cared not to heed his advice; indeed they gave him nothing but bewildered looks: yea, looks of hidden mockery and denial. They saw him, like themselves, as nothing more than a mortal, as they were only aware of his physical form and were unable to perceive the sublimity of who he really was. Their hearts were filled with the love of the transient, worldly life. They did not think of death; they preferred the fleeting life to the eternal one, saying: “there is nothing except our present life. We will die and perish but we will not be resurrected again.” Thus they denied the resurrection, and turned away from God. Moreover, in their blindness all they saw was that no one but the simplest people from the lowest levels of society followed our master Noah (pth), and that their Envoy (pth) was just a man. They could not deny his prestige and high conduct or his logical arguments, so they simply refused to believe. Indeed, nothing prevented them from being guided but the excuse: “…‘would Al’lah have sent a human being as an Envoy?’ ” The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 17, Al-Isra’ (The Night Journey), verse 94 A person must contemplate the creation of the heavens and the earth and adopt the way of self-reflection which leads to
  • 50. The People of Our Master Noah (pth) 49 belief in God, purifying their spirit of its wickedness by attaining a link with God. If a person does not do so, they will not recognize the Envoy and will not come to believe in him or his call. Perfection will remain concealed from any person who thinks in this way; through the exclusive use of their visual sensory organs they will only see the external appearance of the Envoy, therefore missing his sublime reality. God says: “…and you see them looking at you but they do not see”: that is: they do not see your reality by using the eyes of the heart. The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 7, Al-A’raf (The Heights), verse 198 And He says: “They said: ‘who is this Envoy that eats food and walks in the markets? Why has no angel been sent down with him to warn us? Why has he been given no treasure, and no garden to eat from?’ And the wrongdoers said: ‘The man you follow is surely bewitched’.”: that is, he imagines unreal things. They measured everything according to worldly values; they thought that money and belongings were good for people, and that this was what indicated a person’s rank and God’s satisfaction with that person. The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 25, Al-Furqan (The Criterion), verses 7-8 It is no wonder then that after our master Noah (pth) had dwelt amongst his people, calling them to God for just fifty years short of a thousand years, none had heeded his call except for the very few. They would not have believed, even if he had stayed amongst them until the Day of Resurrection. However, on the other hand, if they had followed the rules by which God intended that people be guided, He would have given them clear vision. Through their piety they would have been illuminated by His Light, and would have ensured happiness for themselves and the rest of the human race.
  • 51. THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST 50 The Envoy (cpth) said what is mentioned in the noble verse: “…‘should I seek a judge other than Al’lah, when it is He Who has brought down the Qur’an for you, with all the details?’ Those to whom We have given the Book know that it is the truth revealed by your Provider. Therefore you shall never be sightless. Perfected is the Word of your Provider; through truth and justice then, change for the better is realized. None can change His Words. He is All-Hearing and Omniscient.” The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 6, Al-An’am (Livestock), verses 114-115 These truths are firm rules and laws. No spirit can have faith until it takes up the path of reflecting on God’s creation with the intention of seeking the truth; this is an intention to ascertain the Existence of God and to see by the Light of the Creator, Who provides and directs everything. If people do not believe or do good deeds, the Holy Books (i.e. the Stain of God which colors the spirits with righteousness and perfection) will never be revealed to them, and the verses of the Qur’an or any other Book that was revealed to the Envoys will not become clear signs in their hearts. Nay, they will remain obscure for them, as their negative actions will create a veil to prevent them from grasping their meaning. Their language will not help them, and neither will their existence in the same age as the Envoy (cpth), for this Qur’an has been kept in his heart (cpth) and its lofty meanings can only be touched upon by the purified ones 2 whose hearts have been cleansed of the evils of this mean life and its deadly sins. 2 The Almighty said in the Holy Qur’an, Fortress 56, Al-Waqi’a (The Inevitable Event), verses 77-79: “This is a glorious Qur’an, inscribed in a hidden book which none can touch except the purified.” This book is hidden; that is, its meanings are veiled in the heart of the greatest Envoy (cpth). People cannot begin to understand these meanings unless they have achieved spiritual purification and have attained the intercession and the love of being in the company of God’s Envoy (cpth).
  • 52. The People of Our Master Noah (pth) 51 Our Envoy Noah (pth) lived amongst his people for a very long time, but none of them believed in him (save for a few). Therefore, he cautioned his people about the severe punishment that would be inflicted upon them if they continued to distance themselves from God. Nonetheless, those among his people who disbelieved answered him by saying: “…‘Noah, you have argued and argued too much with us. Bring down the scourge with which you threaten us, if you speak the truth’.”: that is, if you are truthful then let us be punished, because we do not want to change our way of life. The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 11, Hud (Hud), verse 32 Our master Noah (pth) felt sorrow for them, yet they felt irritated by him. He was alone and shed many a lonely tear on their behalf. Meanwhile they laughed at him amongst themselves. He warned them of their impending utter destruction, yet they derided him. He clarified for them the foolishness of their ideology, yet they plotted against him. At that time he invoked his Provider, saying: “…‘help me, Provider, I am overcome!’ ”: that is, “Oh my Provider! Support me with other cogent proofs by which my people may change their minds and become guided.” The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 54, Al-Qamar (The Moon), verse 10 The Almighty told him that there was no hope for them as the cups of their spirits had become overfull with immorality; they would neither ask for guidance nor believe. No result could be obtained from them because they were people with uncultivated spirits. God inspired our master Noah (pth) to build an ark in accordance with His Will as his people deserved damnation. There was no hope that they would ever believe or come to have goodness in their spirits.
  • 53. THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST 52 God says: “Because of their sins that caused them to be drowned and cast into the Fire, they found none to help them besides Al’lah.” The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 71, Nuh (Noah), verse 25 Before concluding the section about the folk of our master Noah (pth), we would like to clarify an important point. There are some who said that our master Noah (pth) called down perdition upon his people because of their mockery of him. Those who make this claim consider this to have been a wrongful action. In fact, our master Noah did not call upon God in the name of his people, saying: “…‘Provider, do not leave a dweller of the unbelievers in the land’…”, until his Provider had revealed to him that none of them would believe in him save those who already believed. The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 71, Nuh (Noah), verse 26 When God informed him that his people would never believe, out of his love for them he asked God to bring their days to an end. The example of our master Noah (pth) reminds us of someone whose close relative is suffering from the great pain of an incurable disease. Someone in this position would certainly wish for the death of their relative in order that they be relieved of their pain. This would be an act of mercy. When the Almighty God informed our master Noah (pth) that his people would not believe, he wished for their death in the hope that their torment might be lessened. If they had lived they would only have continued straying further from God, and their lives would not have added anything except more disbelief and more obstinacy. On the other hand, death would have brought their evil deeds to an end, and these were deeds which would only cause them to suffer greater torture in the afterlife.
  • 54. The People of Our Master Noah (pth) 53 God says: “And it was revealed to Noah…”: when his people asked for destruction, “…that: ‘none of your people will believe with you save those who have already believed!’…”: there is no hope for their belief.” “…‘do not grieve at their misdeeds’.”: “do not be sad and do not feel sorrow because they stray from My Guidance.” “ ‘Build the ark under Our Eyes’…”: “We see you and inspire you,” “...‘according to Our Inspiration’…”: “as We have indicated.” “…‘do not plead with Me for the wrongdoers’…”: “do not intercede in order to drive the affliction from them or beg My Pardon for them.” Our master Noah (pth) kept calling his people for fifty years short of one thousand years, but when they rejected belief or obedience, they justly deserved their doom. Despite this, our master Noah (pth) still hoped to guide them and save them in spite of their opposition. “…‘they shall all be drowned (God replied)’.”: and so it became an inevitable decree. The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 11, Hud (Hud), verses 36-37
  • 55. 54 The People of Our Master Hud (Peace is through him) The People of ‘Ad, Commonly Known as the Mighty Giants od sent to the ‘Ad their compatriot, Hud (pth). “…he said: worship Al’lah, my people; you have no god except Him. Indeed, you say untruths. I demand no recompense from you, my people, for no one can reward me, except He Who created me. Do you not realize?” The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 11, Hud (Hud), verses 50-51 He (pth) said to them: “…worship Al’lah...”: observe His Orders and obey His Words, not the words of servants such as yourselves, “...you have no god except Him…”: there is no provider and no director except Him. Who lets the rain fall? Who steers the sun and the moon? Who creates the night and the day? Who creates the seasons? Who causes the earth to rotate? “…indeed, you say untruths.”: you invent false sayings about Al’lah, including the claim that He ordered you to follow false gods or to worship idols. “I demand no recompense from you, my people, for no one can reward me except He Who created me…” that is, He Who brought me into existence, “…do you not realize?”: do you never think a little to allow the truth to sink into your brain? A sane person will think about any words they hear; if they are right, they will accept them; if not, they will reject them. Is it not fitting for people to seek to realize G
  • 56. The People of Our Master Hud (pth) 55 the realities of things by themselves? Should we not become sure of God’s Existence and attain the truth through contemplating His universal Graces? Who feeds us? Who supplies us with water? Who restores us when we are sick? Our master Hud (pth) spoke to his people, as did our master Noah and all the Envoys (ptt) 1 both before and after him. He (pth) said to them: “…worship Al’lah; you have no god except Him…” This noble Envoy revealed to them that: “the steering of this universe belongs to Al’lah (glory to Him), and all beings belong to Him and move only by His Leave. He is the Only Being Alive Who can provide life; He is the Director, for He alone is the Creator, the Source of life, and is responsible for the movement of each atom in the universe. He supplies and is supplied by nobody, for He is One and Self-Supporting. If Al’lah afflicts you with misfortune, no one can remove it but Him, and if He wants to bestow favor on you, no one can withhold His Bounty. This occurs in proportion to what you deserve. Oh people! You yourselves have shaped these gods which you worship with your own hands. Do you worship what you have crafted? Woe to you! Do you not realize? Can you not see that they are unable to save you, or even to save themselves from evil? What has come over you that you cannot judge? Oh people! Why do you shun the Creator of heaven and earth, and obey that which can neither harm nor help you? This is but a mockery which you and your fathers have invented, although Al’lah has not supported it with power.” However, their only answer was: “We do not care at all whether you preach or not. This is but the legacy of the ancients. Surely we shall never be punished.” The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 26, Ash-Shu’ara’ (The Poets), verses 136-138 1 (ptt): peace is through them.
  • 57. THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST 56 He (pth) said: “Oh people! Do not let the lower life tempt you. Do not be seduced by riches and the strength of which you brag. How can you ask “…who is mightier than us?” Do you not see that He Who created you is Mightier than you? What is this false pride for, then? If you witness that, then what is this ingratitude for? The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 41, Fussilat (Explained), verse 15 The materialist comfort and abundant luxury which they had gained from commerce veiled them from God. Their lands, which stretched from a point west of the Euphrates to the coast of the Mediterranean, were a central point for the meeting of world trade. 2 They built their capital, which had such wealth that it was called: “Irama, the many-columned city, whose like has never been created in the land.” The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 89, Al-Fajr (The Coming Appearance), verses 7-8 2 In some books of interpretation, it was reported that the ‘Ad lived in the land of Hadramut. Neither the Holy Qur’an nor the history books affirm such a claim. No known country in Hadramut became powerful to the extent that its people said to their Envoy: “…who is mightier than us?” [e Holy Qur’an, Fortress 41, Fussilat (Explained), verse 15]. or their Envoy said to them: “...He will add strength to yours…” [The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 11, Hud (Hud), verse 52]. None of the available historical documents indicate the rise of a strong, powerful nation in that land. This land was under the authority of Yemeni rulers. Moreover, the kings of Yemen called themselves the ‘Kings of Hadramut.’ Besides, the Holy Qur’an (while it does not designate the lands of ruined nations, as it was revealed for admonition rather than historiography) always associates the Thamoud people with the ‘Ad. This connection positively refers to their proximity in space and time. The Almighty God said, through the words of our master Sa’leh (pth): “Remember that He has made you the heirs of the ‘Ad…” [e Holy Qur’an, Fortress 7, Al-A’raf (e Heights), verse 74]. This noble verse shows that the Thamoud knew the ‘Ad; otherwise this Envoy of God would have not reminded his people about them. Beyond this, the statement “He has made you the heirs of the ‘Ad” may mean that the Thamoud took over the land where the ‘Ad had previously dwelt.
  • 58. The People of Our Master Hud (pth) 57 The Almighty described their structural works to us, which indicated their great luxury. He says: “Do you build a wonder of perfect splendor and skill to trifle?…”: that is, you build wondrous castles, coffeehouses and amusement centers in places of excellent natural beauty, constructing admirable parks and buffets of the highest degree of beauty; do you then use them for pastimes and luxury, only to waste time in them?! Does this actually qualify you for Paradise? “You raise factories...”: workshops and storehouses, containing silk and toys; you decorate the shops and the stores, “...hoping that you may last forever.” You think that you will live forever and you have forgotten about death. All of that is but an ornament for this transient worldly life, which harms the middle class and the poor. It makes them incline to the present life, which leads inevitably to baseness, misery and stinginess, making people turn away from the performance of good deeds and charity. “And when you exercise your power, you act like cruel tyrants” against one another. If you clash over something, you will be on the brink of cruelly killing each other because of your merciless hearts. “See by Al’lah’s Light, and follow me”: reflect on what these buildings, these palaces, and this luxury will bring down upon you. They result in envy and depravity in people’s hearts, annoyance in their livelihood and competition in their life. “See by the Light of He Who has provided for you...”: turn your spirits towards Him and think of those of His Graces which He grants to you “...with what you know”: referring to blessings. “He has provided you with flocks...”: sheep, “...children, and gardens...”: orchards, “…and springs.”: boons and great donation. The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 26, Ash-Shu’ara’ (The Poets), verses 128-134 Thus, when God sends forth an Envoy, he places them in the middle of the world. He does not place them in a place as
  • 59. THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST 58 isolated as Hadramut, where no one passes other than an occasional merchant coming from India or the Far East. God says: “Nor does your Provider destroy cities until He has created an Envoy in their capital (a town of primary importance)…” The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 28, Al-Qasas (Stories), verse 59 As for the Thamoud, historians are nearly unanimous in agreement that their hometown was in the area of Wadi Al- Qura, along the Pilgrimage Road from the cities of Syria to honored Mecca. The Thamoud are mentioned in the cities of Jordan, which were conquered by the Assyrian King Sargon in (715) B.C. The description of its context says that it was near to Mecca and to the north. The Greeks also mentioned it in their books. They located it in Al-Hejr land, although they called it Thamudeni, while they called the land of Al-Hejr Agra. If the Thamoud lived in this area, then undoubtedly the ‘Ad lived in what is now Syria. The ‘Ad, and then the Thamoud who came after them, took advantage of an excellent geographical location, which lay at a junction of the trade routes coming from the east and going west. At that time and up until recently, this area was an intersection of three world roads:  First: the trading road from Yemen and the Hijaz to Syria and the African cities across the Sinai Desert.  Second: the road from the Arabian Gulf to Syria and the African cities across the desert.  Third: the road from Fares (Persia) and Al-Rafedain (the Euphrates and the Tigris) to Syria and the west of the Mediterranean. By virtue of this strategic spot, these people were able to take advantage of the trade traffic. They offered assistance in carrying

Other services they offered included providing food, drink, and fodder for animals, inns for merchants to rest in, and storehouses for preserving goods. They most likely became world merchants later on. According to the quoted verses, we can also conclude that the ‘Ad and then the Thamoud had an advanced civilization as regards its structure and culture. The Almighty described them as a discerning people, saying: “We also destroyed the ‘Ad and the Thamoud. This is vouched for by their ruins. Satan had made their foul deeds seem fair to them, and debarred them from the right path, keen-sighted though they were.” They were masters in worldly science. The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 29, Al-’Ankabut (The Spider), verse 38 It is not strange that these same people were enlightened with scientific and literary cultures. The wonderful constructions and factories which they raised surely required competent engineers, and would not have been possible without a developed science of mathematics, and consequently, high standards in all kinds of education. They were able to attain that scientific knowledge because of their special location. It has been said that “wherever trade meets, minds are fertilized.” This Envoy called on his people to worship God and to obey Him, for if they did so, He would send abundant rain upon them from heaven and would add to their strength. The words of our master Hud (pth) are those of a man who knew God’s Rules, because when God sends an Envoy to a nation and they do not follow him, He afflicts them with spiritual and physical distress. He makes them taste of the lightest chastisement before the greatest chastisement, so that they will return to God. God says: “We sent forth to other nations before you...”: We sent Envoys forth to them as We have sent you (oh
  • 61. THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST 60 Mohammad), but they opposed their Envoys. Therefore God smote them with hardship, poverty and disease, “…and afflicted them with physical adversity and spiritual calamity...” What is the purpose of this distress? It is “...so that they may repent and return”: that is, to make them turn to God and purify their spirits. (These calamities befall you so that you will pray to God and obtain a clear spirit. Hence, affliction is sent because of what is in your spirit. Repent and resort to God. If you resort and draw near to Him, your spirit will be cleansed of the microbe which has caused your neediness, illness and misfortunes. Then God will bless you and will end your suffering). The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 6, Al-An’am (Livestock), verse 42 God says: “Whenever We sent a Prophet to a city, We afflicted its people with physical adversity and spiritual calamity...”: when the Envoys come, and people do not believe them, the Almighty God puts those people under stress out of His Mercy and Tenderness. Whenever God sent a sign to any nation in the world, calling them to believe that there is no god but Al’lah, and they did not believe this sign, He afflicted them with calamity. The Almighty does not destroy a nation until He has sent His Envoys to them. If they then fail to repent, He sends them distress in the form of both spiritual and physical torment “…so that they may repent…” This torture and stress show that there is the potential for repentance. The purpose is only to make people invoke God, so that their spirits will be cured of what has settled in them. This is God’s Saying. Those who say that God creates some people for Paradise and others for Hell are mistaken in their view, for such an idea is in contradiction of the Godly Justice. The Almighty tells us that when people resist their Envoy, He puts them under stress so that they may return to Him. In
  • 62. The People of Our Master Hud (pth) 61 that act of returning, the wickedness leaves their spirits and they become pure. God’s Call addresses all of humanity. “Then...”, when they insisted on shunning Him and did not repent, “…We changed adversity to good fortune...” When the germ came to be so deep-rooted in their spirits that there was no longer any hope of saving them, He gave them all that they desired and allowed them to enjoy this worldly life, so that they might give thanks. (He could have obliged them with such generosity to begin with, but there are only a few people who give thanks, and therefore instead, He begins with affliction). After that, if they did not return to Him, they would be ruined, “…until they completely forgot...”: these people did not appreciate the Graces of God. Although they became rich and had an abundantly luxurious lifestyle, nonetheless, they did not return to God or pray to Him any more. They forgot everything “...and said: our fathers were also touched by sorrows and joys...”: our fathers were also subject to both good and bad circumstances. They did not ascribe their affliction to their own deeds or actions. They believed that it was simply the vagaries of time, “…but then suddenly, We called them to account while they were heedless.” During their neglect, destruction was brought down upon them suddenly, without any advance notice. The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 7, Al-A’raf (The Heights), verses 94-95 If God had settled His Judgment in Al-Azal and predestined our fates, as some claim, then what is the purpose of the Envoys and the disasters? We can see from this that what they say is completely wrong. There is a way to return, and we do have the ability to repent. The Almighty has sent us Envoys and leaders, and He has granted you the power of thought and has revealed the whole universe to your eyes so that you may be reminded. If you use your ability to think and are guided, He will bestow good things on you and will not exert pressure on you.
  • 63. THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST 62 Indeed, that is what happened to the ‘Ad. God sent them only the lightest chastisement. He held back the rain, damaging their orchards and livestock; consequently, their economy and infrastructure collapsed. Our master Hud (pth) explained the reasons to them. He said: “My people, seek the Forgiveness of your Provider…”: believe in Him. If you think about anything, you will be guided. Who raised you up when you were just a drop of semen inside the belly of your mother? Everything indicates the Provider. If you do not seek forgiveness in order to be cured of these lowly yearnings, then they will continue to cling to your heart. Adultery, stealing and killing are crimes that occur in the spirit. If you seek forgiveness, repent and render good deeds, you will draw nearer to God, and your spirit will be cured. At that time, you would accompany God’s Envoy (cpth), and through being in his company you would understand both virtue and vice. In this way, you would praise God, Who has protected you from committing wrongs and has showed you their reality, “…and turn to Him in repentance…”: turn from your present actions. “He will send abundant rain upon you from heaven…”: they were suffering distress and hardship. “He will add strength to yours. Do not turn away from Him, for you are wrongdoers.”: you have deprived yourselves of blessings. None of your advantages are real or permanent. You live only so that you can be the possessor of perfection and favor. You were created to be charitable. The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 11, Hud (Hud), verse 52 For this reason, we find that all people see the Envoys to be evil omens, for when they do not respond to them, God afflicts them with many kinds of torture. The Almighty God sent the lightest torment before the greatest torment to the ‘Ad, but they neither surrendered nor returned. Moreover, they said to him (pth): “such speech as yours is not proof enough to make us forsake our gods and worship a single god. What you say is nothing other than fancies
  • 64. The People of Our Master Hud (pth) 63 that are in conflict with our reality and our experience. Why should we not be proud of our life, our factories and our palaces, which are symbols of advancement and progress, and which distinguish us from all other backward nations? Shall we turn from that to devotion, and follow methods to believe in what is hidden? This thing which you deem to be corruption, we regard as goodness and progress.” God says: “When it was said to them: ‘do not commit evil in the land’, they replied: ‘we do nothing but good.’ However, they were evil-doers, though they did not perceive it.” The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 2, Al-Baqara (The Cow), verses 11-12 They said: “we can only suppose that our gods have afflicted you with evil since you deny their divinity, and therefore they have hidden the truth from you, making you say these words. We advise you to quit this superstition and turn to worship what your fathers used to worship.” However, our master Hud (pth) answered them: “Al’lah is my witness, and so are you, that I am done with what you serve other than Him…” Thus he (pth) overwhelmed them with his argument and challenged them all. “…scheme against me and give me no respite. I have put my trust in Al’lah, my Provider and yours. There is no living creature outside His control. Straight is the path of my Provider.” They could hatch whatever plans they wanted; he (pth) was brave and sure of himself because he was following the right path without error, and had surrendered to God. The Almighty God crippled their power, and made cowardice and terror flow into the depths of their hearts. In this way, they bowed their heads humbly before his majestic greatness. The Almighty clothed him in a garment of divine Grandeur because he was His Envoy. The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 11, Hud (Hud), verses 54-56
  • 65. THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST 64 When he warned them of the consequences of their actions, they said: “…we do not care at all whether you preach or not.”: this is our path and our creed. We do not care, “This is but the legacy of the ancients.”: this is the way that was followed by our forefathers. Why do you want to change the creed that we have inherited from them? “Surely we shall never be tortured.”: your admonition is baseless. The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 26, Ash-Shu’ara’ (The Poets), verses 136-138 Thus, the ‘Ad did not accept the call of their Envoy (pth) and they persisted in their love of the earthly life. Furthermore, they asked our master Hud (pth) to bring down his threats upon them if he was really telling the truth. God says: “Tell of the ‘Ad’s compatriot, who warned his people with annihilation, and there have been other Envoys before and since his time, saying: ‘serve none but Al’lah, I fear for your momentous day of torment.’ They replied: ‘have you come to turn us away from our own gods? Bring down your threats upon us if what you say is true!’ He said: ‘only Al’lah knows when it will come. I declare to you the words for which I was sent. However, I can see that you are ignorant.’ Thereafter, when they saw a cloud heading for their valleys, they said: ‘here is a passing cloud that will bring us rain.’ Not at all! It is that which you have sought to hasten: a hurricane bringing a woeful scourge. It will destroy everything at the bidding of its Provider. When the morning came there was nothing to be seen except their ruined dwellings. Thus We reward the wrongdoers. We had given them great power….”: they were the masters of the world, “…and We may give the same to you; We granted them ears and eyes and hearts…”: they had made great progress in the worldly sciences, “…yet their ears, their eyes, their hearts were of no avail since they denied the Signs of Al’lah. The scourge at which they scoffed was fair for them.” The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 46, Al-Ahqaf (Annihilation), verses 21-26
  • 66. 65 The People of Our Master Sa’leh (Peace is through him) The People of Thamoud l’lah, the Almighty, sent the people of Thamoud their brother Sa’leh. He says: “To the Thamoud We sent their compatriot Sa’leh. He said: ‘worship Al’lah, my people; you have no god but Him. It was He Who made you from the earth and gave you dwellings upon it. Seek forgiveness from Him and turn to Him in repentance. Indeed my Provider is Near at hand and Responsive’.” The Holy Qur’an, Fortress 11, Hud (Hud), verse 61 Indeed, the Envoys’ mission is the same in every time and place. It is to invite people to Al’lah, acquainting them with His Perfection and demonstrating the wisdom behind His Orders and Prohibitions. This is because if people know their Provider scientifically, they will understand everything. If, however, they lead themselves astray from the Provider, they will find no defender and will live in darkness, for deception will blind them from witnessing reality. Thus, they will see nothing but the appearance of things. In this way, unbelievers look at the truth in reverse. When their Envoy addresses them from the correct standpoint, they deny their mission and disdain their behavior. This happens A
