Originally from Torreón Coahuila, México. I completed my undergraduate studies at Swarthmore College where I majored in Spanish and double minored in Latin American Studies and Education. I then continued my graduate studies at Stanford University where I received a Master of Arts degree in Spanish and Portuguese Language and Literature. I recently received my Illinois teacher certification and an additional Masters for the teaching of Spanish from K-12.
In college I specialized in 20th and 21st century Latin American Literature and film. In particular, testimonial literature, diasporas, trans-nationalism, immigration and social movements.
