The following is a business report that highlights and looks into the functional areas, business
processes and information systems adapted of an organisation. For the purpose of this report,
Holroyd City Council located in Sydney, New South Wales, will be used as the organisation.
All information and data collected regarding he Council, has been collected from their website,
which is referenced in the References section at the end of this report. Unfortunately, not all
information were able to be collected from the Council website, such as the Information Systems in
use, and as such, this section has been conducted based on personal assumptions, experience and
general knowledge of the applications discussed. Apart from this, no other hindrances were
encountered.
2.0 Organisation Description

Holroyd City Council (HCC) is a local government area and suburb located in the Western suburbs
region of Sydney, New South Wales. Initially incorporated as a Municipality in 1872, and later
proclaimed to a City in 1991, HCC covers 17 suburbs around the local government area (Holroyd
City Council Website).

Commission of New South Wales, 1981, describes the Pyrmont–ultimo peninsula as,
'â€¦a quality residential development on the last significant headland in Sydney Harbour'.
This belief was a realisation by many in the late 20th Century and was reinforced by the actions of

After the 1960's, whole blocks were demolished by industry and government. Streets including
Point Street, Bulwara Road, Allen Street and Fig Street were depleted and nothing took there place.
By 1976, the population in the peninsula decreased from 30,000 in the early 20th century to just 703
who were mainly workers of local industries. Of these 703 residents Micheal R. Matthews[2] stated
many of the workers included 43 engineers; 14 clerks; 24 boiler makers and machinists; 25 builders;
30 stonemasons; 3 dairy men; 16 blacksmiths and 13 butchers. All these employees were employed
by the one hundred industries that monopolised Pyrmont–Ultimo in addition to there families that
shared homes with these workers and due to the dramatic changes these sort of industries no longer
exist.
Nowadays the types of residents of the peninsula have changed significantly due to the
transformation of the peninsulas facilities and its close perimeter to the City Business District.
Younger residents have replaced older residents. [3]With 20–29 year olds now representing 55.3 per
cent of the population and people over 65 represent just 1.4 percent of Pyrmont–Ultimo, with the
lowest of the population is those aged 5–9 years, at 0.9 percent. Some 24 percent of these new
residents have university degrees compared with 16 percent in 1999 and 24 percent of households
earn more than $78,000 a year in

Rydalmere is a Sydney suburb that is unique and growing with apartment developments going up
and some renovations in the area. The local schools are within walking distance for the kids of
Rydalmere, as are the nice sports ovals, parks, and playgrounds for a nice recreation culture.
Rydalmere offers public transportation via ferry, trains, or buses when the locals want to venture
outside their nice suburb. Living in Rydalmere puts you within five minutes of Parramatta via public

PART A: Pyrmont is a bustling neighborhood with great restaurants, cafes, parks and beautiful
gardens. The local government area is located in the City of Sydney and is an important part of the
Darling Harbour region. Housing in Pyrmont is identified by high–density apartments, industrial
high–rise buildings, affordable housing and heritage cottages. Pyrmont has a "land area of 27km per
hectare" (City Of Sydney, 2014) with approximately 124 people living per hectare, showing
evidence of urban consolidation and a large population in the city. The demographics of Pyrmont
convey a multicultural and proficient civilization with the demographics conveying that only

Limiting and changing the demographics that live in Pyrmont making it hard for middle classed
families and middle classed workers to purchases houses within Pyrmont.
Urban consolidation in Pyrmont will also increase the number of houses within Pyrmont therefore
prevented the sizing of the houses. Families commonly look for housing with a backyard and area
for their children to run around and play in, however urban consolidation in Pyrmont has made it
very rare to find a house that contains a back garden constraining the buyers and residents living in
Pyrmont to typically working class professionals, older couples or single wealthy men and women.
The development of Pyrmont has also created speculation about the ethics of "housing 547" (City
West Housing Pty Ltd, 2013, page 1) affordable housing properties in one of the most expensive
suburbs in Sydney. Although some of the tenant's families have lived in Pyrmont for generations
some believe due to the redevelopment of Pyrmont, it is unethical to provide for 547 families when
the housing could be relocated to outer Sydney and house more then double the affordable houses

The Bays precinct is transformed in each period of its history from Aboriginal settlement to first
fleet and to the current date. The Cadigal and Wangal clan of the Eora nation who settled in the area
thousands of years before Europeans. The main active carried out in The Bays precinct was trading
in overall period of time. As the trade increase in the precinct large industries such as detergents
factory, timber mill were founded at White bay. The first bridge in the precinct was built in 1862
connecting Glebe Island and Pyrmont. Wentworth Park was created filling the land of Blackwattle
Swamp and Creek in 1876. The White bay power plant is one of the significant structure in the
precinct which was constructed in 1913 which powered Sydney's vital train and tram network. In
1966 the Syndey's fish market was sifted to its current site, and in 1969 the first NSW container
terminal was opened at white bay. In 1995 the most attracting Anzac bridge connecting both side of

North Connex Tunnel
a) Where is the issue located?
The North Connex Project is a nine kilometre underground motorway, beneath Pennant Hills Road,
which links the M2 to the M1. This development has been approved for construction due to the issue
of traffic congestion for motorists travelling between Sydney and the north coast. The Hills M2 is
the motorway connecting Sydney's north shore and north western regions. Furthermore, the M1
Pacific Motorway links Sydney to the Central Coast, Newcastle and Hunter regions. The issue of
traffic congestion is located in the West Pennant Hills area, where the M2 is, and it extends further

There has been much care and time put into making this project as safe for the environment as
possible, and surprisingly the impacts on the environment are quite minimal. The only major
environmental impact of the NorthConnex Tunnel is where there has been the clearance of land for

Below the skylines located in the heart of Sydney City lies the once proud McKell Housing
commission, a collection of flats that once hosted a vibrant living environment for poor families in
need. However it is now an epicenter of drug abuse and violence with its most vulnerable victims
being the next generation of Australia, its children.
Tyson and Jai are amongst the many children aged between 10 and 16 who live in and around the
area of Redfern. In the lives of these youths, fleeing the police is an everyday occurrence. Could this
