The human brain is a very complicated part of the human anatomy. Kanwisher states in an inaugural
article, "Understanding the nature of the human mind is arguably the greatest intellectual quest of all
time." The impacts occur when during the embryo phase of life development. Brain is the
operational center of a human body. As I was reading the article "functional specificity in the human
brain: A window into the functional architecture of the mind", "Gall proposed that the brain is the
seat of the mind, that the mind is composed of distinct mental faculties, and that each mental faculty
reside in a specific rain organ" (Kanwisher, 2010). The brain the main center of our body that
controls the function of each part. In the early stage of life, babies begin to develop their basic
functions that even though babies do not have the ability to communicate, they learn very quickly
how to talk and walk. Babies can see and hear to recognize the sounds, and they have their own

How does the human brain work? This was been the question that many scientists have tried to
answer. Many scientists can give you many different kinds of answers about the subject, but how do
we know what is true or not. Over the years there were many answers to this question that were true
and false. In this essay I will talk about the top four myths about the human brain: the myth that
humans only use ten percent of the brain, the myth that the bigger the brain the better, the myth that

Three Facts About The Human Brain
After reading both of the articles on the human brain, I have learned a lot of things that I never knew
of. But the three facts that I learned about the brain that I didn't know before was on the national
geographic site, the article brain stated that the "brain's nerve cells are known as neutrons, which
make up the organ's so–called "gray matter" (National Geographic, n.d.). That the cerebellum which
is the second largest part of the brain is "responsible for coordinating muscle movement and
controlling our balance, and the cerebellum transmits information to the spinal cord and other parts

I didn't know much about the brain actually until I read the two article that was provided. But it is
helpful because it's good to know which part of the brain causes different problems. For example, in
the Brain article it states that the hypothalamus controls hormone and the "hormones govern growth
and instinctual behavior such as eating, drinking, anger and reproduction" (National Geographic,
n.d.). Also, it's good to know what each part of the brain is and what it does like the cerebrum is the
largest part of the brain and it "has two halves that divides into four region or lobes in each half. The
frontal lobes are involved with speech, thought, learning, emotion, and movement. The parietal

When you think of the brain, think of it as the most important part of the human body. The brain is
the strongest part of the body and can easily be damaged. Not only is it easy to damage but it also

The brain has six very important parts to it, the lobes play a very important part to the brain. The
lobes break down into four different parts these four parts are the frontal, temporal, occipital and the

frontal lobe continues to grow as you get older, the reason for that is because it's more like a

I've never learned much about Psychology yet I always found it interesting. The human brain is very
interesting to me, the fact that genetics can affect if you happen to be mentally insane or even a
serial killer to me is astonishing. Another idea which grabs my interest is Weber's Law. This idea has
changed the way I do things in my life using my senses, including ignoring my parents loud talking
or annoying habits. I've also been interested in learning styles. I know the different types, but I don't

run in our family from my mother's and father's side, not just the enjoyment and pleasure but also
the talent.
Next, Sensation and perception. My favorite idea in sensation and perception is Weber's Law or also
known as the Weber–Fechner law. Weber's Law states "that the change needed to notice a difference
between two stimuli is proportional to the original intensity of the stimulus. The more intense the
stimulus, the more it will need to change before we notice the difference." For example, "If you are
lifting ten pounds, you only need a little more weight added on to notice the difference (1 pound to
be exact). But if you were lifting 100 pounds, you will need more weight to notice the difference (10
pounds)." I like this idea because it shows the human mind is easily fooled just like if you were to
show a group of people some optical illusions, only some would see both pictures within; the brain
just doesn't perceive the different images mixed into one.
Another topic in psychology I find appealing is learning, specifically learning styles. I know the 3
main different styles of learning, Kinesthetic, Visual and Auditory. Kinesthetic is more of a hands–
on learning style, Visual is the need to see demos or pictures to learn the information, and auditory is
mainly listening to someone tell you how to do something or just learning my listening to lecture.

The peripehal nervous system is broken into two brances which include the somatic nervous system
and the autonomic nervous system. The somatic nervous system transmits the messages between the
central nervous system and your sensory organs. It regulates movement, posture and balance. It
contains your sensory and motor neurons. Once messages are transmitted through sensory neurons
our brain can interpret the picture you are seeing in front you you, the food you are tastign and even
a hot flame touching your finger tip. Once the message gets to the CNS it sends messages back
through the motor neuron that controls movements. It has voluntary control. For example, if you
touch a flame, the sensory neuron from your finger tip will send the message that it is hot and your
brain will deliever a message back to move your finger. It happens almost instantly. The other
branch which is the autonomic nervous system controls the internal body processes. You body does
these things automaticallt without having to think about it. Although, you could still have control
over some of the processes, such as breathing. The ANS is broken into two different parts which is
the sympathetic nervous system and the parasympathetic nervous system. The sympathetic nervous

The goal that I wanted and desired to accomplish while completing the MYP project, was to
understand the impact of internet use on the human brain. The pros and cons of having information
available to us at the tip of fingers, or in our pockets. I chose this project because I wanted to
explore the core of human nature. I wanted to comprehend how we operate, function and work with
new discoveries. Experiment with our ability to adapt to new foundings and use them at our
benefits, rather than become enslaved by them. My inspiration for this project is my late grandfather.
At the moment when the project was assigned out, I had just attained information on the death of my
grandfather. I was educated that he apparently died, from a brain tumor that the doctors couldn't
operate on, or cure with their medicine. So I wanted to dig deeper into the realm of the human brain
and know the cause of our mere existence. I wanted to understand the truth behind his brain tumor,
but I knew I couldn't delve into such matter and come out without any regrets, disappointments or
even frustration. Nevertheless I did enter the brain and explored something else, giving me some
sort of closure to him in a way. I believe that when my project is completed, there are various ways
of evaluating it. Simple experiments could be conducted testing the modern generation's reliability

Kanwisher states in an inaugural article, "Understanding the nature of the human mind is arguably the greatest intellectual quest of all time." The impacts occur when during the embryo phase of life development. Brain is the operational center of a human body. As I was reading the article "functional specificity in the human brain: A window into the functional architecture of the mind", "Gall proposed that the brain is the seat of the mind, that the mind is composed of distinct mental faculties, and that each mental faculty reside in a specific rain organ" (Kanwisher, 2010). The brain the main center of our body that controls the function of each part.
