Adolf Hitler giving his Chancellor speech in Germany when he was appointed in 1933. He persuaded the Germans by his persuasive techniques and took advantage of their vulnerability.
The entrance to the extermination camp, Auschwitz, Poland which was established on May 20, 1940. This was the most infamous and largely known concentration camp.
These prisoners have just been brought into Auschwitz where they will be the target of mass killings. Most of these prisoners were Jews, Romas, homosexuals, Polish, Czech, prostitutes, political prisoners, and other “undesirables”.
The SS (Schutzstaffel) were in charge of managing the death camps. They also had the authority to arrest and commit anyone to a concentration camp.
Josef Mengele, “Angel of Death” was fascinated by twins, dwarfs and women. He performed gruesome experiments on them and they were usually exterminated right after he was finished with them.
These prisoners are being taken to the gas chambers which was commonly referred to as “showers”.
These Hungarian Jews are awaiting their turn in the “showers” in the gas chambers. They are probably unaware of their fate.
When Auschwitz was liberated, many empty gas canisters were found. Most of them labelled “Zyklon-B”.
Oscar Schindler was a very intelligent man. He saved many Jews from the gas chambers by risking his life by bribing the SS officers.
The maltreatment the prisoners of death camps suffered were very horrid. Malnutrition and unhygienic conditions caused many to suffer through plague, pneumonia and other diseases. Many were too weak to even support themselves.
The living conditions of the prisoners were horrid. No opportunity for personal hygiene or personal cleanliness was provided. Sleeping areas were many bunks crammed on top of each other. Very little or no amount of water was available for washing.
These prisoners were all subject to murder in many different ways such as shooting, firing squads, fatal injections, gallows. Many deaths also occurred due to the horrifying “living” conditions.
These prisoners are being taken to “Block 11” where some of the prisoners were condemned to. It was a jail in a prison which contained a stand-up cells where sometimes more than 3 prisoners were stuffed in.
Slave labour was also referred to as “productive annihilations” which all the prisoners in the death camps were subject to.
Anne Frank was a very brave young girl. She suffered many devastating situations in Nazi death camps but one of the very few who are still alive to tell the tale.
