Graphics Performance Benchmarks
Good Graphics Benchmarks:
Help predict relative graphics performance
with real-world apps like games, UIs, etc.
Indicative of newer use cases and technologies
that consumers and OEMs care about
Include meaningful metrics and configurations
to insure correct conclusions
Tests the GPU in all relevant ways:
• Written to current & relevant graphics APIs
(e.g. OpenGL ES 3.2, Vulkan)
• Written with fundamentally sound application
design practices for GPUs in mind
• Evaluate Vertex/Fragment Shader processing,
Texture mapping, Blending, Post processing etc.
Bad Graphics Benchmarks:
Are not updated to emulate the graphics
workloads and APIs of new applications
Report performance that’s completely
limited CPU and/or DDR, with GPU idling
for long durations
Often these benchmarks run much
faster than the display refresh max
of 60fps – not very useful
