3. •INTRODUCTION
• Human brain, the most valuable creation of God. The
man is called intelligent because of the brain.
• But we loss the knowledge from a brain when the body
is destroyed after the death of man.
• Is it really possible to create a human brain?
• “YES", The IBM & EPFL is now developing a virtual brain
known as the BLUE BRAIN.
3
4. •INTRODUCTION(CONT)
• What is a Virtual Brain ?
•Virtual brain is an artificial brain.
•interface the data stored in the natural brain.
• Why we need Virtual Brain ?
•Intelligence , knowledge and skill of a person
can be made eternal.
• How is it possible ?
•Nanobots.
•These robots are enough to travel throughout
our circulatory systems.
4
6. • UTILIZATION OF BLUE BRAIN
• Short Term Memory.
• In some movies we would have noticed that some
person will be having short term memories.
• When a person gets older, they starts forgetting or
takes a bit more time to recognize to a person.

10. •Blue Brain Project
• IBM’s blue brain project will search for insights into
how human beings think and remember.
• To upload contents of natural brain.
• To keep the intelligence and skill of any person forever.
• To remember things without any effort.
10
Goals And Objectives
13. •Blue Brain Project(Cont)
13
• Taking brain slices & studying it under a
microscope.
• Neuronal 3D morphologies are reconstructed
using Neurolucida software package.
• Electrophysiological behaviour of neurons is
studied using a 12-patch clamp.
Data Acquisition
17. •Blue Brain Project(Cont)
• RTNeuron is the primary application used by
the BBP.
• Written in C++ & Open GL.
• Animations can be stopped,started & zoomed.
17
Visualization of Results
19. •ADVANTAGES
Gathering and Testing many years of Data.
Curing the Parkinson’s disease.
Tool for Drug Discovery for Brain Disorders.
No more medicinal trials on animals.
19
20. • HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE REQUIRMENT
• BLUE GENE SUPERCOMPUTER
• Operating system: Linux SuSE SLES 10
20
21. • HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE REQUIRMENT(CONT)
• Memory with a very large storing capacity.
• Processor with a very high processing power.
• A very wide network.
• A program (written in Linux or C++) to convert the electric
impulses from the brain to input signal.
• Very powerful Nanobots to act as the interface between
the natural brain and the computer.
21
22. •APPLICATIONS
22
• We can remember things without any effort.
• Decision can be made without the presence of
a person.
• Even after the death of a man his intelligence
can be used.
• The activity of different animals can be
understood.
• It would allow the deaf to hear via direct nerve
stimulation.
23. •FUTURE WORK
• Researchers at Microsoft's Media Presence Lab are
developing a "virtual brain “,called MyLifeBits.
• Project aims to make database of human memories.
• By 2047, almost all information will be in cyberspace
including all knowledge and creative works.
23
24. •CONCLUSION
• We will be able to transfer ourselves into computers
at some point.
• It will bring both benefits and harm to human society.
• Blue Gene supercomputers can simulate up to 100
cortical columns, 1 million neurons, and 1 billion
synapses at once.
• Despite the sheer complexity, it is predicted that the
project will capable by the year 2023.
