ICT role in 21st century education and it's challenges.
integrated material management
1. • An activity of an enterprise for procurement n use of
materials with a goal to achieve an integrated mg
approach to planning, acquiring, processing n
distributing materials from raw material stage to finish
product.
• Integrated material management as the function
responsible for the coordination of
planning, sourcing, purchasing, moving, storing and
controlling materials in an optimum manner so as to
provide a pre-decided service to the customer at a
minimum costs.
• Integrated material management is a systematic n
dynamic process of mg which
coordinates, supervises, n executes the tasks associated
with the flow of materials throughout an organization
in an integrated fashion or manner.
2. Advantages of integrated material mg

4. • A description of this case study including
results, components of integrated material
management strategy, and detailed approach.
• The case study was carried out during the civil
phase of a 4.2 billion pounds civil infrastructure
project in the united kingdom.
• It was one of the largest projects in Europe.
• The project presented specific challenges, such as
traffic conditions, security, lack of lay down
area, that forced to fine 5 key principles for
managing materials supply. they are as follow :
5. a) Materials must be pulled from the supply network
as needed at the workface.
b) Materials must arrive at the right place, at the
right time, in the right quantity.
c) The supply network is achieved at the best value
for the customer
d) All necessary actions are taken to minimize vehicle
on – site.
e) All the necessary actions are taken to increase
workflow reliability on – site.
• The development of integrated materials
management strategy followed 4 step process is :
define, design, implement and operate.
6. • The integrated materials management strategy
was defined based n the above 5 principles by the
owner . These were translated into objectives.
• With clear objectives in place, the integrated
materials management solution was then designed
on the basic of 5 components.
1. Marketplace
2. Collection runs
3. Supplier sign
4. Satellite stores
5. Inventory management system and electronic
ordering.
7. • The definition and design of the strategy took place
in the early stages of the construction. The
implementation process followed 3 main steps
a) Define product list
b) Select preferred supplier
c) Set up a sign replenishment system
• A more comprehensive description of the results
obtained, after the implementation of the
integrated material management strategy , they
are as follow :
8. • Cost saving
• Daily supply reliability was higher than 97 %
• A reduction of inventory levels.
• Supply lead time was reduced
• Significance performance
• Financial results
• High level of transparency
• Standardized product
