The document provides information about an aOS Canadian tour taking place in February 2017, visiting Quebec, Montreal, Ottawa, and Toronto on various dates. It then discusses various Microsoft Office 365 and related technologies, how they can be used together, and guidance on when to use different options. The discussion covers tools and capabilities like Yammer, Office 365 Groups, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Flow, PowerApps, and others. It emphasizes understanding the current technology landscape and guiding users on the journey to more effective use of Office 365.

“AND” OPTIONS WE

10. Yammer now is improved by adding a SharePoint team site and document library,
OneNote, Planner and Outlook group calendar (coming soon) to every group.
YAMMER
INTEGRATION…
11. Yammer also gives access to a shared notebook in OneNote. This means no more
Yammer Notes (Will convert existing Notes to Word and store in the library).
YAMMER

12. Sync’d with Group Service – Shared memberships, PowerShell management,

Office 365 Groups created elsewhere in the suite will have conversations in Outlook.

14. Where do people work? Would connectors help improve the community? Do you
need Governance/Compliance features that Groups have?
SO WHERE SHOULD
YOU BUILD A
COMMUNITY?
15. When you create a group, Office 365 gives the group a shared inbox, calendar,
OneNote notebook, a Planner - and now, a full-powered SharePoint team site.
OFFICE 365 GROUPS &
SHAREPOINT TEAM SITES…
16. Advanced permissions is still a fair reason to use SharePoint instead.
As are Intranet sites or sites that would not benefit from a Group.
WHY BUILD
SHAREPOINT
TEAM SITES?
“SharePoint does provide the ability for Site Owners to specify different permissions on resources. Office 365
Groups promises a permission model whereby all group members have access to the group’s resources across
workloads (e.g. conversations, files, notebook, etc.). To deliver consistency, SharePoint site collections
associated with a Group will also follow this model. So, a group (site) owner can add new permission levels
and assign to new users or groups on a resource, but would not be able to remove the permission levels
assigned to the group’s owners or members. We are working on delivering a new permissions management
UX that will allow for group (site) owners to change the group members’ permission level from Edit to Read-
only (and vice versa) but you would not be able to remove the members from resources in the SharePoint site
collection.”

WHAT WOULD I USE IT FOR?
There are countless real world scenarios where Flows improve the user experience.
Especially in reducing the places the user needs to check/work (less when to use what).
23. @RHARBRIDGE
DOES FLOW REPLACE WORKFLOW?
Today for basic automation and integration you can do quite a bit with flow beyond
what workflows can, and they can compliment one another.
1. It’s still new.
Admin/Governance not as comprehensive (go to Logic Apps). You can’t trigger a secondary Flow from a primary,
it can be painful to reorder steps, API max connections (by app, not user), etc.
2. It Is Simplified.
Convert to Azure Logic App (one-click). There is almost no limit to what you can do when you move up to the Azure
level around process automation and integration.
3. It Provides New Options.
We don’t always have to defer to full application development if there is a way to build what is needed without the
same rigor and specialized skill set.
24. PowerApps is a great solution for rapidly building mobile business applications.
Integration not just around data sources – PowerApps embed in SharePoint 2017.
MICROSOFT POWERAPPS…
2. They are easy to share.
1. They are “easy” and intuitive to build. Point to
the data you want to interact with and create.
3. Users can build an app from templates easing the creation of
an app process for common app requirements.
4. They are “mobile first” forms that support multiple data
sources beyond SharePoint. Soon will be in SharePoint!
25. @RHARBRIDGE
WHAT WOULD YOU USE IT FOR?
There is a ton of potential in PowerApps with templates and shared apps across
the organization or through communities.
2. Simple “list” tracking apps that can
help coordinate things like assets, site
visits, that you want a unique UI on.
1. Simple Mobile App experiences
where you want to get employee
feedback.
3. FAQs and resource guides for
employees around products or
processes.
26. @RHARBRIDGE
No new versions.
Supported to 2026.
DO POWERAPPS REPLACE FORMS?
PowerApps does not match InfoPath and SharePoint Designer from a feature
parity perspective. It makes it easier to build business applications “without code”.

We then share/post the event invitation to our Yammer network and hold Skype Broadcast meeting or perhaps run the event on Skype for remote participants

Chris Slemp has a great breakdown…
Microsoft Stream Preview & Office 365 Video
They will converge in features. Office 365 Video will be get a new name in the future. You should still use Office 365 Video and at a later time you will get a upgraded UI and new features.
I just trained my people on Office 365 Video will I have to retrain?
Microsoft Stream’s UI is designed to be intuitive and easy to use. The concepts are similar and the UI may be a little different but is not a significant change. So training content experts/gurus and admins/managers will be similar to what you have already done and should require minor investments around re-training, but not significant ones (if desired).
SharePoint Workflow and Flow?
SharePoint Workflows (& Great 3rd Part Platforms) are still a great way to automate most structured enterprise business processes today. Flow has some focus areas that SharePoint Workflow does not have which compliments process and task automation needs, especially across systems and services (like IFTTT or Zapier).
Flow includes a focus on platforms outside of SharePoint.
Flow can be triggered by web hooks into external systems. Flows can take actions and events from outside your environment and automate the movement of this data into your systems.
Flow allows users without list management rights to still create flows.
Many flows are within an individual users context. Triggering a flow for a user based on an event that happens in their Office 365 mailbox as an example only targets that user.
Flow includes a focus on the personal technologies of an individual end user allowing them to automate personal and professional processes/tasks.
Microsoft PowerApps Preview
PowerApps can be used to build rapid mobile business applications…
PowerApps, InfoPath, and SharePoint Designer…
PowerApps does not replace InfoPath and SharePoint Designer. It makes it easier to build mobile business applications “without code”. It can create forms-like applications for data in SharePoint on-premises or in O365, so there may be some scenarios where it can act as an alternative for InfoPath form development.
PowerApps is Cloud Only (no offline capability).

new capabilities in Office 365, what you have already implemented and your approach.
