What is the average age? 43 From Nexen’s HR Department: LinkedIn is one the key pieces of our overall recruitment strategy. It’s a very effective tool for attracting top talent to Nexen, enhancing our brand and educating potential candidates about our company. Since implementing LinkedIn, we have more than 2,100 current employees registered and more than 6,000 followers. We use it to advertise our job postings and communicate in real-time with potential candidates, source potential candidates and develop networks with people in fields relevant to our industry and hiring needs. All Nexen’s recruiters also post their own profiles on LinkedIn and as a result are contacted constantly by job seekers. LinkedIn isn’t the only social media resource we’re currently using. Our YouTube account hosts between eight and 10 videos at any time including videos featuring our oil sands upgrading process at Long Lake, a day in the life of an offshore platform in the North Sea and employee testimonials. Video is one of the best ways we can show people about the interesting work we do, and the opportunities we have for advancement. It enables us to explain what it’s like to work at Nexen better than any other medium.
Finding a job through Facebook isn’t about pestering your friends and junking up their news feeds with status updates like “Unemployed and Looking For Work — Help A Dude Out.” It’s about making the most of your network in a positive way, not by being a nuisance. (mashable)
Consider everything you post on Facebook to be public information for everyone to see, read and share
