NZ International Education Conference, Te Papa, Wellington, NZ 8-10 August 2018 Abstract: Leading-edge education requires system-changing innovations on multiple levels. This presentation explores the development of a next generation programme to empower and inspire the next generation of global citizens for the next generation of work. In a world that is characterised by uncertainty, exponential change, disruption, and different ways of doing business, there is a need for purpose-driven transformational education that develops learners’ capabilities to match the future of work. This requires the development of new approaches to education that are transformative, self-determined, regenerative and having global reach in both learning design and delivery. In this paper we introduce a new approach to delivering bachelor’s-level learning that supports change makers to create their own emergent framework of practice in order to make real and ongoing impact. We first describe the design of the Bachelor of Leadership for Change and how human-centred design and heutagogical approaches support learning design for global education. We describe initial learners’ experiences through their own voices and conclude with some reflections on challenges and future directions for the programme. We expect this new approach to increase the relevance of tertiary education to learners wanting to be purposeful change-makers in a global world of change.
