This paper discusses the main features of New Education Policy (NEP), 2020, Courses under Curriculum and Credit Framework (CCF) under UG Programmes, Choice of MDC/IDC under various Semesters, MDC/IDC on LIS Course Faculties/ Resource Persons and Challenges and Opportunities for LIS Professionals. it will help to understand the Academic Library- Functions, System & Services, to acquire knowledge about various Library Materials/ Sources- Information and Reference Sources/Tools & Types; and to understand the basic ideas of Management of Libraries.

3. NEW EDUCATION POLICY (NEP) 2020
NEP 2020 is India’s Third Education Policy after
NEP 1968 and 1986.
MHRD, now Med formed a Committee in 2017
which was headed by Dr. K Kasturirangan for
preparing the NEP.
The Committee submitted its report on May 31,
2019.
On July 29, 2020 Union Cabinet approved it.
Over 2 lakh suggestions were received in favour
and against the policy.

UG Certificate after completing 1 year
UG Diploma after completing 2 years
Bachelor Degree after completing 3 years
Bachelor Degree (Hons.) after completing 4 years
4- year Bachelor Degree (Hons. with Research);
Students who secure overall 75% marks and
above.
Multiple Entry and Multiple Exit point
A student can opt for any subject of any stream of
his/her interest.

established which digitally store the academic
credits earned from various HEIs so that the
degrees from an HEI can be awared taking into
account credits earned.

9. MULTIDISCIPLINARY COURSE (MDC)
It is a introductory and fundamental level course.
Students are not allowed to choose or repeat
courses already undergone at the higher secondary
level (12th class).
Students will be asked to choose 3 different MDCs
for 3 semesters.
Each MDC shall carry 3 credits, so total 9 credits.

Substantive College Librarians are mostly acquainted
with the MDC subject matter.
Hence substantive College Librarians are entitled to
take MDC classes as faculty member.
They also entitled for paper setter, paper moderators
and evaluators of the examination related matter as
per Affiliated University norms.
Substantive College Librarians can be exchanged
under Faculty Exchange Programme between MoU
colleges under Affiliated University.
23. CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES
We are involved in Library Room Teaching. But now
we will be performed directly Class Room Teaching.
We can convince easily our college authority
