First,	set	the	vision	of	who	you	are…
...	and how	you	want	to	be	know.
Use	these	questions	to	define	this	vision	for	yourself
Questions	to	guide	defining	your	vision:
• Where	do	you	see	yourself	in	a	year,	five	years,	ten	years?
• What	is	your	primary	service	or	product?	Your	expertise?	Your	style?
• How	do	you	describe	your	personality?
• What	do	your	clients,	employers,	and	colleagues	love	about	you?
• What	unique	value	do	you	offer?
• What	is	the	best	thing	you	do?	What	are	your	talents?
• What	are	your	areas	of	expertise?
• What	are	your	passions?
• What	makes	you	different	than	everyone	else?
Do	a	Personal	SWOT	Analysis
STRENGTHS
What	are	you	great	at?
OPPORTUNITIES
External	areas	where	you	can	
use	your	strengths
THREATS
External	areas	that	will	expose	
your	weaknesses
WEAKNESSES
What	can	you	be	better	at?
Make	sure	to	think	about	your	emotional	
appeal	when	assessing	each	area:
• Are	you	high-energy,	life-of-the-party?
• Are	you	a	calming	force	in	the	office?
• Funny?
• Logical?
Brands	have	emotional	
appeal.		Yours	should	too!!
Define	Your	Audience
Like	any	strategy:
YOU	CAN’T	BE	ALL	THINGS	TO	ALL	PEOPLE
Use	the	following	questions	to	help	develop	your	ideal	audience	
profile	so	you	don't	fall	into	the	trap	of	trying	to	please	everyone.
Questions	to	Help	Define	Your	Audience
• What	challenges	or	problems	do	members	of	your	ideal	
audience	face?
• How	old	are	they?	Describe	their	demographics?
• What	is	their	lifestyle?	Where	do	they	live?	Do	they	own	or	
rent?	What	are	their	interests?	How	do	they	spend	their	time?
• How	can	you	help	them?
• How	can	you	make	their	life	better?	How	can	you	make	their	job	
easier?
• How	do	you	want	them	to	see	you?
Put	It	All	Together
•What	one	or	two	things	about	you	is	special?
•What	is	the	emotion	you	evoke	in	others?
•Who	is	your	target	audience?
The	answer	to	these	three	questions	will	define	your	brand.
