Society s Demographic Transition
Demographic Transition To begin with a demographic transition is basically the changes that occur
within a society s population whereby these are changes from high levels of crude birth and death
rates with a low rate of natural increase to lower levels of crude death and birth rates yet still having a
low rate of natural increase and having a higher total population, and all of these changes that occurs
goes back to either developments in economy or changes in standard of living. Now as we all know
each and every country has once experienced and witnessed changes in their population either having
transformations in favor of the population or the opposite thus causing many disadvantages to the
population. This process of the transition consists ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In ancient times up until today humans were still in stage one though now no country is any longer in
that stage, as every nation has now moved at least to stage two and has therefore experienced many
changes in their population according to().usually during the first stage people used to live on hunting
and gathering to get food and when there was enough food for everyone population used to increase
on the other hand if food was hard to find they usually saw a decline in their population. Whereas
stage two it s a stage of high growth which means there is a rapid decline in death rate yet having a
rapid growth in the population, therefore having a high natural increase, this is mainly because of
improvements in medicine or access to cleaner and healthier life. Usually, countries that experience an
improvement in their standard of living for example because of industrial revolutions they tend to
enter such a stage, such countries that entered this stage were North America and Europe. Then comes
the third stage is known as the stage of decreasing growth whereby BR declines while DR stays
declining and according to () NIR begins to moderate. In this stage, there still is growth though slower
than stage two a society enters this stage when people decide to have fewer children which goes back
to access to contraception and a better economic condition. Usually developed countries with a good
job and standard of living are in such stages which according to () that their economic conditions
encourage them to have fewer children. Finally stage four the stage of low growth in which there s a
very low BR and CR and the possibility of even a low NIR, A country reaches such a stage when CBR
is equal to CDR and the NIR is almost zero. This happens because women enter the labor force and

Candide Satire Essay
Voltaire s satire in Candide
Satire is the ridicule of a society or people in a society in order to bring about reform. Voltaire wrote
Candide in order to bring about a possible reform in his society over 230 years ago. Today we use
satire a little differently. But, in my personal opinion, Voltaire s satire has held up over the years and is
relevant in today s society.
One of Voltaire s main points of satire is that all people are the same no matter their wealth. He did
this by ridiculing the Baron in his writing. He said that the Baron was the most powerful lord in
Westphalia, for his castle possessed a door and windows. This is still relevant today, because
comedians in our society still take stabs at rich people even though they are just like everyone else.
Voltaire also uses satire to make a point that a person s rights did not always apply in his society. He
used Candide to make this point. In the story Candide is a very simple minded boy and Voltaire used
this to his advantage to get his point across. He made it clear that Candide lost all rights granted to him
when the Bulgarians thought that he had deserted them. Today when people are punished for a crime,
they have the possibility of losing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He spoke out secretly against the intolerance, cruelty, and smugness of his time. One example of him
speaking out about this, is the punishment that Candide received. He was suppose to run the gauntlet
36 times. He was going to be hit by every soldier in his company twice each time her ran it. He only
ran it twice which meant that he only was hit 8,000 times. This was direct hit to the cruelty, smugness.
Voltaire was trying to express the horrifying treatment that people in his society received. This would
still apply to the people of today because our world is still just as cruel and smug. For example,we
have terrorists and animal poachers in our society. So this satire would still

Discussion and Scientific Explanation
The purpose of this lab was to create soaps and detergents and test their cleaning ability. We created
four different soaps and two detergents using different starting materials composed of oils and fats for
the soaps and lauryl alcohol and sulfuric acid for the detergents. Soaps are created by a process called
saponification, which is the formation of a salt by combing an acid and a base.1 Soap and detergent
are effective cleaning agents because they have hydrophilic and hydrophobic ends.1 The hydrophobic
ends interact with the dirt and oil while the hydrophilic ends interact with the water molecules
effectively washing the dirt and oil away.2 While soaps and detergents are very similar in their
cleaning ability, they have a major difference being that soaps are made from natural products and
detergents are made from synthetic materials.3 In order to make the soaps, we used four different
starting materials including lard, shortening, olive oil, and vegetable oil.

The Connection Between Shadow And Shadow

Shadow clarified. I can only say that it is not normal for a Servant to challenge his Master nor is it a
noble idea. If the Servant does this during the night hours the Vampire will surely kill the Servant. If
the Servant does it during the daylight hours he will have only days to find a new Master before he
will be consumed by death. When a Servant kills his Master, his Master s blood is bonded to the ...

Rae watched him with curiosity and affirmed. Yes I was pleased that he had a sense of humor I could
not picture my life without laughter, and now I have two men with a sense of humor. You are the

Shadow stood, walking to the dresser and started gathering items for her shower and agreed. Yes
Goddess, you may to have your cake and eat it too for the rest of your life. They both laughed over the
human clichés.
Rae was feeling confused over why her family had been hiding for many centuries. If life was to be

Introduction
Pharmaceutical industry is a science organisation that research and develop medicines to help improve
people s life. There are four departments in pharmaceutical. They are researching, development,
production and marketing. In this report we will be going to investigate only 2 of these departments.
They are research and manufacturing. This investigation will include the risk on health and safety in
both departments and how they are similar or different to each other. We will be talking about how to
prevent or decrease the risk of it happening and the cause of the hazard. Also we will be talking about
how it affects the employer and the employees.
Potential hazards how to prevent them
Different hazards in manufacturing.
Dusts explosions can happen when stone or iron pieces get in to a disintegrator or grinding mill, this
could create a spark which ignite any flammable substance. This also requires large amount of oxygen
available for the flame to ignite. To manage dust and avoid any explosion, dust must not compile and
it should be removed as soon as it formed. Also by using a process called inerting this will cause the
dust to be diluted to a level less than its lower limit of explosive range. This is

Ethical Dilemmas In Medical Research
Doctors have always been thought of as the caretakers of mankind and that is why the type of
medicine performed by the doctors of Nazi Germany was so shocking, egregious and immoral that it
violated the trust placed in them by humanity. The Holocaust seems so far removed from our reality
today, and it may be hard for people to imagine the horrors inflicted by such doctors as Joseph
Mengele and others in the name of medical advancement . There is no doubt that these
experimentations are viewed as barbaric, unethical and thinly veiled under the guise of science. Many
feel that findings from these studies should never be published or used. An ethical and moral dilemma
still remains today as some of the research resulted in data that potentially ... Show more content on

One of the most gruesome and well known doctors of human experimentation during the Holocaust
was Josef Mengele. He was known as the Angel of Death (citation) or the White Angel for his cold
and cruel demeanor during the camp selection process (6). Mengele performed many horrific
experiments on twins. Most experiments were performed on Jewish and Roma (Gypsy) children in the
context of finding out the genetic origins of disease and to also to see if he could unlock the secret of
multiple births in the hopes of increasing the German race. Of the 1000 set of twins that were
experimented on, only 200 sets survived. (7). If Mengele did not deem the patients worthy of being
kept alive, he would have their bodies dissected and cataloged. Mengele did such atrocious things to
these children such as injecting lethal chemicals into their eyes in the hopes of creating blue eyes, a
requirement for his pursuit of the perfect Aryan specimen (6). He also injected the patients with
mysterious concoctions or syringes filled with diseases such as typhus or tuberculosis to see the
effects on the body. Another of his atrocities involved sewing twins together in the hopes of creating
his own set of Siamese twins. Moreover, Mengele performed surgeries without anesthesia for such
things as amputations, organ removal and

Periodontal Disease Case Studies
During your biannual dental checkup and cleaning, your dental hygienist or dentist will perform a
periodontal examination to determine if you have periodontal disease.
The Periodontal Examination
A small, specially designed instrument (periodontal probe) is used to measure the space (sulcus)
between each tooth and its gum. A healthy sulcus depth measures no more than 3 millimeters and will
not bleed. If an individual has periodontal disease and neglects to seek treatment, the pockets between
the teeth, and gums usually deepen.
The 3 Stages of Periodontal Disease
Tooth mobility and sulcus depth, in conjunction with the amount of inflammation and/or bleeding an
individual is experiencing, determines which stage of periodontal disease he or she has.
Stage One: Gingivitis ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result, the teeth have lost a substantial amount of support and, unless treatment is sought, the
affected teeth may be lost. Furthermore, widespread moderate to severe bone loss may be seen.
Treatment
The periodontal treatment that Dr. Alina de la Torre recommends depends on the stage of the disease.
If the disease is caught during the first stage (gingivitis) and no damage has occurred, Dr. de la Torre
will most likely recommend one or two regular cleanings. If the disease has progressed to stage two or
three, a deep cleaning will be recommended. If the pockets neglect to heal, periodontal surgery to
reduce the pocket depths may be necessary.
Residents of Tampa, Florida and its surrounding communities choose Dr. Alina de la Torre to help

Ballet Shot Analysis
Following this long shot we are shown a close up shot of Nina s foot, during this shot Nina is
practicing a fouetté. The purpose of this shot is to convey to the viewer how much pressure Nina is
placing on her body, in particular, her feet. A lot of ballet in danced en pointe (on the tip of a person s
toes), this sort of pressure can be detrimental to one s physical well being. A lot of members in the
audience will have prior knowledge of how painful and strenuous it can be to place all of your body
weight on just your toes, thus reinforcing to the audience the large amount of pressure Nina is forcing
upon herself.
The audience can also see the scuff marks on the floor, this effectively demonstrates just how much
time Nina dedicates to practicing at home. As an audience, we generally know from personal
experience and exposure that this is what wood looks like after it has been scratched and used
excessively. From this the audience is able to interpret the extent to which this area has been used.
Nina s extensive and obsessive practice schedule has placed so much pressure and friction on the
wood that her petite body was successful in wearing away the surface of the wood. ... Show more

destroyed due to her excessive rehearsal schedule, showing just how much she practices and how
intense and prolonged these practices really are. This reaffirms the idea of obsession to the audience,
confirming to them that the purposeful addition of the ballet shoes in the background of this shot
effectively demonstrate how Nina s obsession is increasing, and how this leads to her inevitable self
destruction later on in the

Donald Trump Informative Essay
Most people in this country know that Donald Trump has a problem with telling the truth. He is not
honest nor is he trustworthy and he definitely is not shy about making things up, even when they can
easily be proven false. In fact, that is what he has done just last week. According to Trump, he
received two awesome phone calls in the last week. The first one came from the Boy Scouts, telling
him what a great job he did at that speech, and how much everybody loved it, that it was just one of
the greatest things they have ever seen in their life. The second phone call he claims he got was from
the President of Mexico, congratulating him on what a wonderful job he is doing on border security
here in the United States. They just love it down there. Donald Trump s just the greatest guy that ever
lived and everything is just great... Yeah right.

phone call from the leader of the Boy Scouts and from the President of Mexico, to congratulate him
and tell him what a wonderful person he is. Then both groups had to come out and basically said ...

congratulating him and think he s doing a great job. He wants to think that people like what he s

understands that the Boy Scout leader had to apologize to the public for how disgusting Donald Trump

Apology, By Plato s Apology
I know, I do not know, are the words that constitute Socrates philosophy that The only true wisdom is
in knowing you know nothing. In Apology, written by Plato, this ethical belief makes a bold
appearance demonstrating that true ignorance only revolves around those who think that they know
everything. In Apology, Socrates learns that the wisest men are those who do not think of themselves
of wise, and rather make an approach of going beyond an authentic method of inquiry and helping
others seek their personal philosophies which may result in conflict. In Plato s Apology, Socrates
demonstrates that introspection is the key to living life with purpose. Socrates knowing himself, held
in certain that he had no wisdom small or great (Plato, trans. 1871). Upon hearing the prophecy about
him from the Oracle of Delphi asserting that there was no man wiser than him in all of Athens, he
became puzzled (Plato, trans. 1871). In response to the message about him from the Oracle of Delphi,
Socrates felt obliged to disprove this statement by seeking a wiser man, and once found he would
refute the prophecy by affirming to God Here is a man who is wiser than I am; but you said that I was
the wisest (Plato, trans. 1871). Socrates embarked on a search for men with the reputation of wisdom.
First, he interrogated a politician, then the poets, and then artisans. While questioning the politician,
he found that although he was thought wise by many, and wiser still

Difference Between Western And Western Animation
Difference between Western animation and Eastern Europe Animation
Western use animation cartoon for the most advertising and press. Animated cartoons allowed the
government to spread their message in a much more entertaining manner. Bugs Bunny Bond Rally is a
classic cartoon depicting Bugs Bunny singing and dancing about war bonds. The film was given to
Henry Morgenthau of the U.S. Treasury Department on Monday, December 15, 1941. It was during
such World War II films that Bugs achieved his popularity and made him a national mascot. The
government also used animation studios like Walt Disney to encourage people to pay their taxes

can be traced back to prehistoric and ancient times when people drew multiple pictures on walls and

The Theme Of Indecision In Hamlet By William Shakespeare
To be or not be that is the question. That is the question Hamlet is tormented by throughout the play
Hamlet by William Shakespeare. Should I live? Should I die? Should I take revenge for my father s
death? These are all the internal struggles Hamlet is trying to combat within himself. Also, Hamlet
tends to have a conflict with every member of the play. His indecision is followed by his inaction. The
reason for this struggle with indecision can be based on many factors life presents for Hamlet.
At the beginning of the play, Hamlet spoke to a ghost which was his father, the dead king. The king
confessed that Claudius, the king s brother that is now married to Hamlet s mother, killed him. Hamlet
s first soliloquy (1.2) reveal Hamlet s melancholy towards his mother s actions, Why, she would hang
on him as if increase of appetite had grown by what it fed on, and yet, within a month let me not on t;
frailty, thy name is woman . The use of this metaphor indicates Hamlet s anger towards his mother for
her lack of loyalty to his father. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Act 1, Scene 5, the initiation of this journey for revenge is demonstrated through the use of death
imagery when Hamlet is told, Revenge his foul and most unnatural murder . Hamlet devotes himself

melancholy and even apparent madness. Hamlet embodies a deep sense of self doubt, But I am pigeon
livered, and lack gall to make oppression bitter or ere this (2.2). This metaphor is evidence that Hamlet
s thought process decreases the possibility of the accomplished task for his father resulting in

The Routine Activities Theory states is a view, that crime is a normal function of the routine activities

Views of Love in William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet
1. Introduction
William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet has the high profile as the love tragedy everybody knows
[1]. Although it is regarded as the ideal of romantic love there are many other (quite unromantic)
views represented in the play, too. In this term paper I will try to give a survey of the different views
of love in Romeo and Juliet. First of all there are Romeo and Juliet, the star cross d lovers (Prologue)
who establish a quality of love, of life intensively lived, that becomes its own value [2]. Apart from
these two main characters and their view of love there are in general five other attitudes towards love:

2.1. Romeo s and Juliet s view of love: Love as the reason for living
The star cross d lovers Romeo and Juliet both fall in love at first sight and are determined to marry
just after their first encounter. Their love is the most precious thing Romeo and Juliet have in their
lives so both are ready to die for each other and chose to die in the end [...] because each knows that
he or she cannot live without the other, and knows this as a simple, literal truth to be acted on at the
first opportunity [3]. Romeo as well as Juliet regards his banishment as death. Although the lovers are
hoping to see each other again they are willing to die after Tybalt s death/their wedding night.
After their separation due to the banishment both kill themselves in order to be together again: Juliet
drinks Friar Laurence sleeping potion in order to die and be with Romeo again when she awakes, and
Romeo drinks the poison to be reunited with Juliet, whom he thinks lifeless, in death. When waking
up in the monument and finding her love having committed suicide, Juliet kills herself for the reason
of a reunion after death, too. The lovers even drink to each other when they drink their potions.
Up to here Romeo and Juliet seem to share the same view of love but on having a closer look there are

Compare And Contrast Communism And Russian Government
Introduction
The USSR, also known as the Soviet Union, was a country that was comprised of different republics
such as Belorussia, Ukrainian, Russian as well as the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republics. For this
reason, the Soviet Union comprised many nations among other ethnic groups among which Russia
was the largest in the union (Sakwa, 2008). The two regimes of government had both similarities and
differences. With respect to their differences and similarities, the aim of this paper is to compare and
contrast two different governments or regimes that have existed in Russia. Also, the paper will provide
an explanation of the governments fit in the definitions of the types of governments.
Compare and Contrast Russian Government Systems
When compared to other forms of governments, the Soviet Union government was an exception. The
rulers of USSR regarded imperialism and empire in ideological terms as not only the final, but also the
highest stage of capitalism. In line with a definition provided by Leninist did not define itself as an

given its Citizens the freedom of religion, speech and press. This is to mean that unlike the former
government, the present Russian government respect individual liberties. Another difference in these

Marian Wright Edelm An American Activist For The Rights Of...
Marian Wright Edelman was born on June 6, 1939. Edelman is an American activist for the rights of
children. Edelman s mother and father who was a Baptist minister taught her and her siblings that
serving in their community was life s duty. Edelman s parents also taught her and her siblings that
poverty nor racism should ever get in their way of trying to achieve something. The way Edelman was
raised was an inspiration to her and she knew she wanted to make a change for the better in this
country. In 1973 Edelman founded the Children s Defense Fund. The purpose of the organization is to
to ensure every child a healthy start, a head start, a fair start, a safe start, and a moral start in life and
successful passage to adulthood with the help of caring families and communities. (Wikipedia) In the

thesis is stated directly throughout her whole essay. Edelman uses forms of patterns throughout her

looks exactly like her. Nowadays, people that look like they re the same person but in fact they don t
even know each other are called doppelgängers. So we can say that the protagonist is Amber Sweet s
doppelganger. Throughout the story, we see that the young lady s life has been affected by this
resemblance. When walking around, she always hears people whispering and giving her weird looks
or just laughing. Moreover, this resemblance also affected her dating life. The men she dates or has a
relationship with, either imagine having a relationship with Amber Sweet and picture the porn star
instead of the protagonist, or just compare her to the celebrity. The narrator feels very insecure about
herself and doesn t know how to react as we can see in the beginning of the story: It was just little
things like people looking at me funny or whispering when I walked by, but it was too much for me to
ignore. It got to the point where I couldn t set foot on campus without feeling completely self
conscious .(30) She keeps on struggling with this, even after moving and changing schools, trying to
be herself. But this does not help and her identity is still always mistaken for Amber Sweet, who the
narrator really isn t a big fan of but ends up liking her when they finally meet after she cut her hair. In
the story we can see that the protagonist s identity has been chosen for her and has been forced upon
her. She really does not have the choice to be what or who she really wants to

When China Ruled the Seas by Levathes Essay
When China Ruled the Seas by Levathes
In the book, When China Ruled the Seas, Levathes tells us about seven voyages made by junk
armadas during the Chinese emperor Zhu Di s reign. Treasure ships as they were called, were under
the command of admiral Zheng He, these ships traded silk, porcelain, and many other fine objects of
value. They sailed from India to East Africa, throughout Korea and Japan, and possibly as far as
Australia. She believes that China might have been able to create a great colonial realm one hundred
years before the Europeans explored and expanded, from China s navy of some three thousand ships.
The chief purpose of the fleet was diplomatic in nature. Zhu Di s intent to make known his ascension

Feuds between Siam and Malacca were also alleviated because of Chinese involvement.
The voyages of the treasure fleet were not to inhabit foreign lands, but to open up foreign dealings and
international relations. Zheng He managed this and even established trading posts in many of the
places he stopped at. These trading posts were also used as warehouses to store goods until they could
be sold. He also built a chain of dispatch stations the merchants could stop and rest at. The dispatch
stations were spaced out so that overnight stays would be easier for travelers and traders. All of this
also helped China?s economy by making trades easier for merchants. Chinese authority also spread
around the world because many Chinese traders moved out of the country to work in the warehouses.
Many consequences were brought about as a result of these voyages, some were good and some were
bad. The most apparent good consequence is that trade with the world was opened up to China. China
was also at the summit of its global power, and practically every country paid China homage.
However because of China?s newfound trading routes, the people became too self sufficient on
overseas goods and this brought about piracy and corrupt trade. Some important government officials
would even desert their official decrees to

Finding The Way With Service Animals Essay
Finding the Way with Service Animals
Johnny had never smiled in his entire four years of life, until July, 2015. He received a life changing
gift, a service dog trained as a companion to children with autism. His family had researched and tried
many ways to help him have an easier and more interactive life but to no avail until he got his service
dog. Improving life emotionally, physically and/or socially is the overall goal of people and/or
families with service animals.
There has been a long history with animals and their natural bonds with humans for many decades
now. Dogs have helped people with a multitude of illnesses for some time now, however Americans
were not the first to discover this natural trait in animals. The Germans during World War 1 were the
first to discover this. In the book, History of Guide Dog Use by Veterans it states that the German
army in particular relied heavily on the use of German shepherds as ambulance and messenger dogs.
The Germans reportedly used more than 25,000 dogs during World War I. these dogs were ideally
suited for this type of work, with ell known traits such as trainability, loyalty, intelligence, strength,
and endurance (Ostermeier 587). In today s society, we have numerous people who are unaware of the
services that animals can provide for humans. Specifically humans with mental or physical
disabilities. In this paper I will present various types of service animals as well as the many services
they provide.

Hacking Lockheed Martin Coop
Lockheed Martin Corp (LMT) hacking This is a renowned USA government information technology
service provider yet it suffered a serious attack on its database that the management termed as
significant and tenacious (Daily Tech, 2011). This attack was majorly directed towards the enormous
Gaithersburg, Maryland center that is located close to the headquarters of the company in Bethesda.
The attack included the theft of customer information that would be used to manipulate the WoW
accounts. The nature of the attack was such that the hackers took advantage of the Virtual Private
Network (VPN) access system that makes it possible for clients to log in remotely through the use of
their RSA SecurID hardware tokens. These attackers are said to possess the seeds factory encoded
random keys that were used by the Lockheed s SecurID hardware fobs, they also possessed the serial
numbers and the algorithm that is used to secure the devices making it possible to hack into the system
and obtain the customer information from the system. It is the responsibility of the management to
hold secure the data and information that they hold on behalf of the clients that they host. This attack
was particularly worrying since the corporation is entrusted with highly sensitive government data and
the wealth of the American government military information which it should protect from intrusion
from external sources. There are also valuable projects for the organization that it protects like

Major Hurricane Recovery
South Florida is particularly vulnerable to the effects of major hurricanes. The sub tropical weather
places the region directly in the historical path of seasonal storms. The area has faced repeated
battering by major storms over the decades (Blake, Landsea, Gibney, I.M. Systems Group, August
2011). Furthermore, the geographic location and the constraints of being located on a peninsula create
unique and difficult challenges for the population during these events. The millions of people that live
from Okeechobee Lake to Key West are vulnerable to the destruction capable by a major hurricane.
Emergency responders must be prepared to deal with these issues when planning and responding to
large scale events. An event that has the ability to affect multiple areas, covering many jurisdictions
and creating a complete shutdown of services require outside attention and assistance. The local
resources tend to be overwhelmed during these situations (Caruson, MacManus, September 2008).

Chinese Foreign Policy
Does Chinese Foreign Policy reflect the concerns of a status quo power or a revisionist power?
INTRODUCTION
Before addressing this question, it is essential to establish what is meant by a status quo or revisionist
power. Hans Morgenthau described a status quo power as one that favours and aims to maintain the
distribution of power as it exists at a particular moment in history ,. Similarly, proponents of power
transition theory use the concept of the rules of the game regarding nations power relations to define
status quo and revisionist states, the latter desiring to redraft the rules out of a general dissatisfaction

An access denial strategy is therefore a core safeguard for China, being itself a continental power
neighbour to four states that possess nuclear weapons and surrounded by a perimeter of on going
conflicts. Furthermore, a maritime build up is desired not only for its strategic importance but also to
address the popular naval complex among the Chinese nationalist public who has often blamed their
country s defeats on their weak navy. It would, as figured by Chinese leaders, help correct China s self
consciousness as the only permanent member of UNSC that lacks naval capacity join rescue missions
and crisis interventions.
ECONOMY
It is widely perceived by the West that China s growing confidence is mainly attributed to its growing
economic power, which is also the issue area where Western observers notice a particularly
provocative tone, supporting their verdict with examples such as Wen Jiabao s criticism of the US
economic mismanagement or Chinese banks concerns over the dollar s continued role as the
international reserve currency . Meanwhile, Chinese leaders seem to retain a firm grip on its domestic
sphere through constraints upon foreign firms (suspected to have used cyber attacks on these, although
denied by Beijing), deliberate bias toward state owned companies and rigid protection of the much
criticised RMB. In the global scene, China is also pursuing a more assertive

Henequen Wheat Complex Analysis
Walking along the aisles of a local home improvement store or even farm, many would not think or
even be aware of twine s vast history in shaping the world around us. However, to a historian much is
known about this commodity and its relation to the henequen wheat complex as well as its effects on
sustainability, economics, and society in both North America and Mexico as described in Sterling
Evan s novel, Bound in Twine. Not only did the henequen wheat complex itself play a significant role
in influencing many aspects within the two regions, but it had numerous benefits and disadvantages
that ultimately changed the history and lives of many affected by its development, particularly those in
Yucatan.

With the increased desire to produce larger amounts on henequen in the Yucatan to support its
monocrop economy, the complex consequently permanently altered the landscape and overall
environment of the state. As mentioned previously, prior to the development of the henequen complex,
the area could be described as a varied landscape on the remarkably flat Yucatan terrain. However, the
Yucatan later bear more resemblance to a patchwork of haciendas, so much so that with the boom in
henequen at the end of the century, haciendas and even the much venerated cattle ranches were
converted to plantations. Thus, the henequen wheat complex played a significant role in permanently
transforming the once diverse ecosystem of the Yucatan into a uniform landscape solely dedicated to
the harvesting of one crop, the henequen. In addition to these environmental alterations, this complex
as well as the established monocrop economy introduced deforestation and subsequent erosion that
would ultimately cause the ecological improvishment of the henequen zone in which it was
economically benefiting from. However, to others the henequen wheat complex can be considered a
sustainable model since after the severe decline of henequen production following the 1980 s, Yucatan
experienced much ecological improvement. Remarkably,

Factors That Affect the Academic Performance of the...
By Kirk A. Johnson, Ph.D.
Few would argue that advanced teacher training does not make a difference in student achievement. In
fact, Professor William Sanders of the University of Tennessee argues persuasively that the single
most dominant factor affecting student academic gain is teacher effect. 1 However, little statistical
research is available for evaluating which type of training and teaching degree has the best effect on
student achievement. As the demand for higher academic achievement and accountability in public
education grows, it is important to determine whether teachers who hold advanced degrees in
education as a general field are more effective than those who have degrees in specific subjects like
English or math. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As put forward by Hijaz and Naqvi, there are many ways to weigh up different factors, which can
affect performance of students. It is most likely, that there is no universally accepted method to
measure the performance of students.
Literature Review Performance of a student depends upon many factors. Nevertheless, three factors,
family, teacher, and personal profile of students are most likely critical (Diaz, 2003). Significance of
factors may vary depending upon the context, culture, level of education etc. Family interaction and
Socio
Economic Status (SES) of family can play an important role in the performance of students. As said
by Schulz (2005), The socio economic status of families has been consistently found to be an
important variable in explaining variance in student s achievement (p. 3). Schulz explains that family
can contribute in many ways, for instance; it can provide financial, moral, and other necessary and
useful support to a student. They can provide a stimulating home environment to promote cognitive
development. All the same, the personal attention of a family and its members is a strong variable. As
identified by Hijaz and Naqvi (2006), merely access to better resources does not provide guarantee for
better performance of students and have established a negative correlation between the income of a
family and performance of a student. It may vary from situation to situation. Nevertheless, it is
difficult to refute and defy the role of family in

Critique Of Leo Steinberg s Other Criteria Steinberg
Kyle Hevey | Leo Steinberg Other Criteria Leo Steinberg s Other Criteria focuses on how America s
view on art differs from that of other Countries and many of the problems that ensue when artists
create art in America. Also, how critics and viewers of art should perceive different pieces and how to
cope with differing views. Steinberg later goes on to discuss the problems with how certain groups of
people can perceive an art piece negatively, when it might not be a negative piece. Steinberg s style of
writing was very difficult to comprehend, I found myself rereading most things, and only occasionally
understanding the concepts he was trying to convey. He began his piece by addressing two writing
pieces published by Fortune, a magazine about the business side of art. He compared the two pieces,
the first one was written in September 1946 and the second one in December 1955, he began with the
earlier one. The earlier piece was written using a travelogue as the stylistic model and it talks about,

Eakins learned to accept that America wasn t very interested in art and behand treating painting as
work. Steinberg compared two of their pictures as an example. One picture showed Gerome chiseling
a woman out of marble and the top half of her body turned to flesh due to his passion for painting.
Eakin s version just showed the completed woman still as marble and he had already moved on to
another piece. Eakin s piece was adapted to the puritanism of the society in which he worked.
Steinberg explained how some cultures were different than that of America s. Work is much more
respected and understood here. A perfect example of this is a quote by Claes Oldenburg that he used,

The Fundamental Forces in Nature
The fundamental forces in nature have been around for centuries. Tying everything together many
scientist and physicist have came about to help with the theories of these fundamental forces which
include gravitation, electromagnetism, strong, and weak forces. Physicist like Maxwell, Newton,
Fermi, Chadwick, and Kepler, have made a strong impact on how people see the world today. These
fundamental forces are what goes on in everyday life and what we still see till this day. The point we
are going to get to are the coming about of these theories and how they are seen in the outside world
and also in physics. In my paper I will be splitting up how the scientist/physicist came to contribute to
the fundamental forces and how each scientist came to contribute to the coming and discovery of each
force. In the second part of the paper I will be describing how each force strong and weak are used in
nature. These topics will help anyone in the search for information on the topic of forces that came to
be due to physics. History of the fundamental forces In 1605 Kepler published the laws of planetary
motion which included 3 laws. First law was that every planet is an ellipse with the sun. Second a line
segment connecting a planet and the sun sweeps out equal areas during equal intervals of time. Lastly
the third law which states that the time it takes for a planet to orbit the Sun increases rapidly
corresponding with the radius of the planets orbit. These laws came to help the

audited by its public liability insurer and they deemed the perimeter barrier fence not compliant to
Australia standards and a danger to the public, the fence had to be replaced with a complaint fence.

If a car were to break through the fence it may result in a serious injury of death to the vehicle
occupants and/ or pedestrians, as well as significant property damage (Chubb, 2010) The insurer
recommended that a compliant barrier system be installed to bring it up to Australian and QBSA
standards.
TJA was approached by Ingal civil who manufactures the anti climb barrier system and asked if we
would take on the project, from that point TZM dealt with the client.
The anti climb barrier system is a Armco barrier with a integrated handrail and mesh fill built into the
system, which prevents a person from climbing over the barrier or stops a vehicle penetrating the
barrier, which is ideal for this situation.

The Invention Of The Assembly Line
Introduction:
The degree of engineering production has substantially increased over the last one hundred years.
There exists numerous reasons why the world has been able to progress so quickly in the last one
hundred years than the few thousand years before. The main answer lies in the invention of the
assembly line. Prior to the assembly line, production rate was dependent on the precision of specific
parts for an item and a worker s ability to assemble the specific parts together. The assembly line
eliminated the idea of a worker who must be trained to build every part of a machine or item. Instead,
the assembly line focused more on small independent jobs for lesser trained employees. With the
assembly line, an employee would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Henry Ford introduced his Model T in 1908, which astounded the public due to its simplicity and
reliability, according to History.com. While the Model T was inexpensive, Ford didn t find his product
to be as inexpensive as he wanted. Ford challenged himself to find a way to make his dream of
supplying the whole nation with affordable cars a reality. Ford realized that he must change his
methods of production in order to decrease the price of his automobiles. His invention of the assembly
line actually started before the Model T came out, but Ford did not know it at the time. The Model N
was built prior to the Model T. The workers on the Model N automobiles placed the parts in order
along the floor while the under construction auto was on skids and moved down the line. The workers
placed their respective parts on the machine as it passed by. For the Model T, Ford tried to make his
process even better. He broke the assembly process into 84 small steps. On top of this, workers were
trained for only one of the 84 steps. By having a machine that could make interchangeable parts faster
than any human, the process accelerated quickly and there was no shortage on supplies. With the
combination of the new parts machine, line of workers trained per step, and an order of parts, the
assembly line was born. Figure 1 below shows the wheels and hubcaps of Model T cars being
assembled using the assembly line. The excessive amounts

I Want A Wife, By Judy Brady
In Judy Brady s essay, I Want a Wife , she explains the roles that wives performed in the mid 1900 s.
Brady has an incredibly sarcastic tone to her essay and finds it hysterical that husbands want their
wives to fulfill their commands. In the past, women were expected to stay at home and take care of
their children. Their lives consisted of cooking, cleaning, and making sure they greet their husbands
when they came home from work. But times have changed; the roles of women have evolved. Now,
we see women doing all types of things. They have more opportunities to do what men can do. Since
the 1950s, women have experienced a huge change in their status as wives, which can be seen through
their ever changing independency, work status, and appearance.
Nowadays, women are more independent. Ever since the 19th amendment passed, women were able
to vote. This was one of the first steps that helped women get to where they are today. Voting has
allowed women to speak their minds. It was the first step to prove that both men and women deserve
to be equal. It was soon more socially acceptable for women to choose their own paths. Men no longer
were able to legally dictate their lives. For example, not too long ago, a women needed a man to sign
for permission whenever she wanted to open a bank account or purchase a car. Now, women do not
have to worry about this as it isn t a concern anymore. Women are now allowed to buy new homes and
property without having to be married. This allows

The cultivation perspective which, was developed by George Gerber and Larry Gross states that the
more time people spend living in the television world the more likely they are to believe social reality
portrayed on television. With the advances in technology, television still continues to dominate
children s interests, on average youth spend about 4.29 hours watching television per day. Other forms
of electrical devices such as ipads, laptops, and cellular phones make it easier for children to watch
their favorite programs on to go.
I have chosen to analyze an episode of Family Guy , which is a cartoon television show which is
intended for adult audiences. The show is based on the Griffin family, which consists of a mother

Chris and his friends then go back to his room to watch the pornographic material, the viewing of the
pornography was short lived after his mother, Louis catches him. After the incident Louis begins to
question Chris on what he was doing, after his explanation on not knowing about sex, a concerned
Lois decides to teach sex education at Chris s high school. Although Louis is teaching the teens about
safe sex practices many parents feel as though what she is teaching is inappropriate, and she is fired
and replaced with a reverend who teaches the teens to be abstinent until marriage. While Louis is
upset with the reverend, her teenaged daughter Meg feels that what the reverend s words are
influential, and she and her boyfriend begin to practice abstinence, and she manages to convince her
father Peter that abstinence is the right thing to do. However with all the talks about being abstinent
the teens find that instead of having intercourse, it is safer to do it in their ears. Now with this turn of

My Goals For A Social Worker
I did not always want to be a Social Worker. I wanted to be a psychologist when I graduated high
school. My dreams for my career got put on hold because I became a single mother at a young age.
Raising my child on my own was the hardest and most important thing to me. It was not until the
Department of Children and Families (DCF) came and removed my niece from my sister s home,
when I realized what Social Work was. At that moment, I knew I wanted to help children the same
way the social workers do.
My educational career started when I was laid off from my job 5 years ago. Part of the severance
package that I received made it possible for me to collect unemployment until I finished my degree. I
earned my A.S. degree in Human Services, and am currently working on obtaining my B.S. in Social
Work, all while being a stay at home mom to a teenager. I have made the Dean s List for the past few
semesters and would like the opportunity to help others with all the services that are available for the
clients that are in need.
Social Work, as a profession, is a great fit for me. My interest in social work originates from having
the desire to be able to help children that are abused and neglected to find better homes and safe
environments. Helping foster children find loving families, so they can be loved and happy too. I
enjoy helping and making a difference in the lives of others. I have been so close to being homeless it
scared me so much. Helping the homeless, homeless veterans,

social networking sites
CHAPTER 2 LITERATURE REVIEW Introduction The Internet is more than just a means of seeking
information. People discovered that the Internet could be used to connect with other people, whether
for business or commercial purpose, make new friends, reawaken old friends and long lost relatives.
The emergence of social networking sites (SNSs) simplify the whole process as majority of them are
free to use, they are easier to use and navigate, because it does not require advanced knowledge and
experience of the internet and are made up of a wide array of different formats and topics; this means
that just about anyone can connect. Currently, there are hundreds of SNSs that can draw millions of
people, with diverse technological affordances. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The profile is generated using the answers to these questions, which typically include descriptors such
as age, location, interests, and an about me section. Most sites also encourage users to upload a profile
photo. Some sites allow users to enhance their profiles by adding multimedia content or modifying
their profile s look and feel. Others, such as Facebook, allow users to add modules ( Applications )
that enhance their profile. The visibility of a profile varies by site and according to user discretion. By
default, profiles on Friendster and Tribe.net are crawled by search engines, making them visible to
anyone, regardless of whether or not the viewer has an account. Alternatively, LinkedIn controls what
a viewer may see based on whether she or he has a paid account. Sites like MySpace allow users to
choose whether they want their profile to be public or Friends only. Facebook takes a different
approach by default, users who are part of the same network can view each other s profiles, unless a
profile owner has decided to deny permission to those in their network. Structural variations around
visibility and access are one of the primary ways that SNSs differentiate themselves from each other.
(Boyd, 2006) After joining a social network site, users are prompted to identify others in the system
with whom they have a relationship. The label for these relationships differs depending on the site
popular terms include Friends, Contacts, and Fans.

Nevada Eye Clinic Case
Good afternoon,
I have been put in charge of reviewing the marketing material to insure that it is in line with the
direction we are heading with the re branding of Nevada Eye and Ear to Nevada Eye Physicians. I
have been reviewing multiple aspects of the process including; the time parameters, outbound
marketing materials and the progress of the website included below is an itemized list of
recommendations for everyone to consider and decide upon. In my opinion all of these
recommendations are in the best interest of the brand and the company.
1.) Mini Pocket Folder
The mini pocket folder is up for final approval, we have submitted minor revisions to the copy which
Jan has updated. You will find a PDF copy of the most recent and hopefully ... Show more content on

The only major point that does need to be decided upon is the name, phone number and email we will
list on the Media Release as the contact. Please keep in mind that this person will be subject to contact
by anyone that reads the article.
5.) Delay the brand release date
The final item up for discussion is the date of going live with the rebrand. I have had discussion with
Jan, Michelle, and Judy as to the status of several key materials needed to facilitate a successful
launch of the new brand. The original date we had discussed was Feb. 29th, after speaking with Jan in
regards to the media release I am proposing that we change the Brand release date to Tuesday, March
8th. Delaying the release by a 8 days would allow us to insure all key materials have been produced
and are in house. Also in speaking with Jan s contact for the Media Release, he recommended having
the release go out on a Tuesday as it is accepted better by all parties involved. Again this is my
recommendation and is up for debate among the group.
Please feel review all items above and contact me with any questions regarding the content. Please
reply all to the email with any suggestions or input on the matters at hand so all can review them.
Thank you and have a wonderful

Dependent Personality Disorder ( Dpd )
I. Dependent Personality Disorder:
Dependent Personality Disorder (DPD) according to the The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of
Mental Disorders (5th ed.; DSM 5; American Psychiatric Association, 2013) is categorized under
cluster C in personality disorders exhibiting traits of anxiety and fearfulness. Criteria specifies that an
individual demonstrates significant deviation in behavior and life experience according to a person s
cultural norms in at least two of the following areas: impulse control, interpersonal functioning,
affectivity, and cognition. Moreover, the disturbance must originate from at least adolescence,
exhibiting a prolonged history of consistent indicators across a variety of life circumstances. This

More significantly, eighty one percent of women experiencing multiple abusive relationships
demonstrated PTSD and higher psychopathology compared to women experiencing a single abusive
relationship.
Personality disorder symptoms are higher among violent women and female offenders arrested for
domestic violence continue to rise in number (Goldenson, Geffner, Foster, Clipson, 2007). Male
offenders were found to have history of attachment, trauma, and features of personality disorders.
Bornstein (2012) found negative consequences of dependency in incarcerated men with charges of
child abuse into the following categories: (a) nonsexual offending psychopaths; (b) sexual homicide
perpetrators; and (c) nonviolent pedophiles.
Although many dependent clients prefer to use passive, submissive social strategies, most dependent
clients are capable of using more assertive, outward expressions of anger, and destructive strategies
when key relationships are at risk (Bornstein, 2012). Moreover, DPD has been linked with increased
risk of self harming behaviors such as suicidal gestures causing harm to themselves and others
(Bornstein, 2012). More women made previous suicide attempts than the men, and women were more
likely to have used or to be using psychotropic medication (Goldenson, Geffner,

I m sorry to hear that, I hope you find a way to tell him... The woman trails off. I was here to see off
my fiancé Andy Landsell. He added in a more cheerful tone, although a look of sadness was present in
her eyes.
It takes Frances a moment to process what the woman had said, ...my fiancé, Andy Landsell ! No this
could not be happening. Not my Andy! Not the man I m pregnant to. Kind. Loving Andy.
I m sorry, but I have some where to be. Frances says in a cold tone and storms off in the direction of

People all around her lean in the comforting arms of family and friends and are helplessly sobbing as

How could this be? Frances mumbles, Andy with another woman? How could I be so blind! We were

  • 2. Society s Demographic Transition Demographic Transition To begin with a demographic transition is basically the changes that occur within a society s population whereby these are changes from high levels of crude birth and death rates with a low rate of natural increase to lower levels of crude death and birth rates yet still having a low rate of natural increase and having a higher total population, and all of these changes that occurs goes back to either developments in economy or changes in standard of living. Now as we all know each and every country has once experienced and witnessed changes in their population either having transformations in favor of the population or the opposite thus causing many disadvantages to the population. This process of the transition consists ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In ancient times up until today humans were still in stage one though now no country is any longer in that stage, as every nation has now moved at least to stage two and has therefore experienced many changes in their population according to().usually during the first stage people used to live on hunting and gathering to get food and when there was enough food for everyone population used to increase on the other hand if food was hard to find they usually saw a decline in their population. Whereas stage two it s a stage of high growth which means there is a rapid decline in death rate yet having a rapid growth in the population, therefore having a high natural increase, this is mainly because of improvements in medicine or access to cleaner and healthier life. Usually, countries that experience an improvement in their standard of living for example because of industrial revolutions they tend to enter such a stage, such countries that entered this stage were North America and Europe. Then comes the third stage is known as the stage of decreasing growth whereby BR declines while DR stays declining and according to () NIR begins to moderate. In this stage, there still is growth though slower than stage two a society enters this stage when people decide to have fewer children which goes back to access to contraception and a better economic condition. Usually developed countries with a good job and standard of living are in such stages which according to () that their economic conditions encourage them to have fewer children. Finally stage four the stage of low growth in which there s a very low BR and CR and the possibility of even a low NIR, A country reaches such a stage when CBR is equal to CDR and the NIR is almost zero. • 3. Candide Satire Essay Voltaire s satire in Candide Satire is the ridicule of a society or people in a society in order to bring about reform. Voltaire wrote Candide in order to bring about a possible reform in his society over 230 years ago. Today we use satire a little differently. But, in my personal opinion, Voltaire s satire has held up over the years and is relevant in today s society. One of Voltaire s main points of satire is that all people are the same no matter their wealth. He did this by ridiculing the Baron in his writing. He said that the Baron was the most powerful lord in Westphalia, for his castle possessed a door and windows. This is still relevant today, because comedians in our society still take stabs at rich people even though they are just like everyone else. Voltaire also uses satire to make a point that a person s rights did not always apply in his society. He used Candide to make this point. In the story Candide is a very simple minded boy and Voltaire used this to his advantage to get his point across. He made it clear that Candide lost all rights granted to him when the Bulgarians thought that he had deserted them. Today when people are punished for a crime, they have the possibility of losing ... One example of him speaking out about this, is the punishment that Candide received. He was suppose to run the gauntlet 36 times. He was going to be hit by every soldier in his company twice each time her ran it. He only ran it twice which meant that he only was hit 8,000 times. This was direct hit to the cruelty, smugness. Voltaire was trying to express the horrifying treatment that people in his society received. This would still apply to the people of today because our world is still just as cruel and smug. For example,we have terrorists and animal poachers in our society. So this satire would still ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In addition, I have not given aid to another student on this assignment. Discussion and Scientific Explanation The purpose of this lab was to create soaps and detergents and test their cleaning ability. We created four different soaps and two detergents using different starting materials composed of oils and fats for the soaps and lauryl alcohol and sulfuric acid for the detergents. Soaps are created by a process called saponification, which is the formation of a salt by combing an acid and a base.1 Soap and detergent are effective cleaning agents because they have hydrophilic and hydrophobic ends.1 The hydrophobic ends interact with the dirt and oil while the hydrophilic ends interact with the water molecules effectively washing the dirt and oil away.2 While soaps and detergents are very similar in their cleaning ability, they have a major difference being that soaps are made from natural products and detergents are made from synthetic materials.3 In order to make the soaps, we used four different starting materials including lard, shortening, olive oil, and vegetable oil. ... Dusts explosions can happen when stone or iron pieces get in to a disintegrator or grinding mill, this could create a spark which ignite any flammable substance. Of the 1000 set of twins that were experimented on, only 200 sets survived. (7). If Mengele did not deem the patients worthy of being kept alive, he would have their bodies dissected and cataloged. Mengele did such atrocious things to these children such as injecting lethal chemicals into their eyes in the hopes of creating blue eyes, a requirement for his pursuit of the perfect Aryan specimen (6). He also injected the patients with mysterious concoctions or syringes filled with diseases such as typhus or tuberculosis to see the effects on the body. • 9. Ballet Shot Analysis Following this long shot we are shown a close up shot of Nina s foot, during this shot Nina is practicing a fouetté. The purpose of this shot is to convey to the viewer how much pressure Nina is placing on her body, in particular, her feet. A lot of ballet in danced en pointe (on the tip of a person s toes), this sort of pressure can be detrimental to one s physical well being. A lot of members in the audience will have prior knowledge of how painful and strenuous it can be to place all of your body weight on just your toes, thus reinforcing to the audience the large amount of pressure Nina is forcing upon herself. The audience can also see the scuff marks on the floor, this effectively demonstrates just how much time Nina dedicates to practicing at home. As an audience, we generally know from personal experience and exposure that this is what wood looks like after it has been scratched and used excessively. In Apology, written by Plato, this ethical belief makes a bold appearance demonstrating that true ignorance only revolves around those who think that they know everything. In Apology, Socrates learns that the wisest men are those who do not think of themselves of wise, and rather make an approach of going beyond an authentic method of inquiry and helping others seek their personal philosophies which may result in conflict. In Plato s Apology, Socrates demonstrates that introspection is the key to living life with purpose. Socrates knowing himself, held in certain that he had no wisdom small or great (Plato, trans. 1871). Upon hearing the prophecy about him from the Oracle of Delphi asserting that there was no man wiser than him in all of Athens, he became puzzled (Plato, trans. 1871). In response to the message about him from the Oracle of Delphi, Socrates felt obliged to disprove this statement by seeking a wiser man, and once found he would refute the prophecy by affirming to God Here is a man who is wiser than I am; but you said that I was the wisest (Plato, trans. 1871). Their love is the most precious thing Romeo and Juliet have in their lives so both are ready to die for each other and chose to die in the end [...] because each knows that he or she cannot live without the other, and knows this as a simple, literal truth to be acted on at the first opportunity [3]. After their separation due to the banishment both kill themselves in order to be together again: Juliet drinks Friar Laurence sleeping potion in order to die and be with Romeo again when she awakes, and Romeo drinks the poison to be reunited with Juliet, whom he thinks lifeless, in death. Compare And Contrast Communism And Russian Government Introduction The USSR, also known as the Soviet Union, was a country that was comprised of different republics such as Belorussia, Ukrainian, Russian as well as the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republics. For this reason, the Soviet Union comprised many nations among other ethnic groups among which Russia was the largest in the union (Sakwa, 2008). The two regimes of government had both similarities and differences. With respect to their differences and similarities, the aim of this paper is to compare and contrast two different governments or regimes that have existed in Russia. Also, the paper will provide an explanation of the governments fit in the definitions of the types of governments. Compare and Contrast Russian Government Systems When compared to other forms of governments, the Soviet Union government was an exception. Edelman herself is African American. Her thesis is stated directly throughout her whole essay. Edelman uses forms of patterns throughout her essay to get her points across. In her essay she asks a lot of questions and then provides us with the answers. She also uses and quotes the bible to prove and refer back to her points. The voyages of the treasure fleet were not to inhabit foreign lands, but to open up foreign dealings and international relations. Zheng He managed this and even established trading posts in many of the places he stopped at. These trading posts were also used as warehouses to store goods until they could be sold. He also built a chain of dispatch stations the merchants could stop and rest at. The dispatch stations were spaced out so that overnight stays would be easier for travelers and traders. All of this also helped China?s economy by making trades easier for merchants. Chinese authority also spread around the world because many Chinese traders moved out of the country to work in the warehouses. Many consequences were brought about as a result of these voyages, some were good and some were bad. The most apparent good consequence is that trade with the world was opened up to China. China was also at the summit of its global power, and practically every country paid China homage. However because of China?s newfound trading routes, the people became too self sufficient on overseas goods and this brought about piracy and corrupt trade. This attack was majorly directed towards the enormous Gaithersburg, Maryland center that is located close to the headquarters of the company in Bethesda. As mentioned previously, prior to the development of the henequen complex, the area could be described as a varied landscape on the remarkably flat Yucatan terrain. However, the Yucatan later bear more resemblance to a patchwork of haciendas, so much so that with the boom in henequen at the end of the century, haciendas and even the much venerated cattle ranches were converted to plantations. Thus, the henequen wheat complex played a significant role in permanently transforming the once diverse ecosystem of the Yucatan into a uniform landscape solely dedicated to the harvesting of one crop, the henequen. In addition to these environmental alterations, this complex as well as the established monocrop economy introduced deforestation and subsequent erosion that would ultimately cause the ecological improvishment of the henequen zone in which it was economically benefiting from. However, to others the henequen wheat complex can be considered a sustainable model since after the severe decline of henequen production following the 1980 s, Yucatan experienced much ecological improvement. In fact, Professor William Sanders of the University of Tennessee argues persuasively that the single most dominant factor affecting student academic gain is teacher effect. 1 However, little statistical research is available for evaluating which type of training and teaching degree has the best effect on student achievement. As the demand for higher academic achievement and accountability in public education grows, it is important to determine whether teachers who hold advanced degrees in education as a general field are more effective than those who have degrees in specific subjects like English or math. ... It is most likely, that there is no universally accepted method to measure the performance of students. Literature Review Performance of a student depends upon many factors. Nevertheless, three factors, family, teacher, and personal profile of students are most likely critical (Diaz, 2003). Significance of factors may vary depending upon the context, culture, level of education etc. Family interaction and Socio Economic Status (SES) of family can play an important role in the performance of students. As said by Schulz (2005), The socio economic status of families has been consistently found to be an important variable in explaining variance in student s achievement (p. 3). Schulz explains that family can contribute in many ways, for instance; it can provide financial, moral, and other necessary and useful support to a student. They can provide a stimulating home environment to promote cognitive development. All the same, the personal attention of a family and its members is a strong variable. As identified by Hijaz and Naqvi (2006), merely access to better resources does not provide guarantee for better performance of students and have established a negative correlation between the income of a family and performance of a student. Steinberg later goes on to discuss the problems with how certain groups of people can perceive an art piece negatively, when it might not be a negative piece. Steinberg s style of writing was very difficult to comprehend, I found myself rereading most things, and only occasionally understanding the concepts he was trying to convey. He began his piece by addressing two writing pieces published by Fortune, a magazine about the business side of art. He compared the two pieces, the first one was written in September 1946 and the second one in December 1955, he began with the earlier one. There exists numerous reasons why the world has been able to progress so quickly in the last one hundred years than the few thousand years before. The main answer lies in the invention of the assembly line. Prior to the assembly line, production rate was dependent on the precision of specific parts for an item and a worker s ability to assemble the specific parts together. The assembly line eliminated the idea of a worker who must be trained to build every part of a machine or item. Ford challenged himself to find a way to make his dream of supplying the whole nation with affordable cars a reality. Ford realized that he must change his methods of production in order to decrease the price of his automobiles. His invention of the assembly line actually started before the Model T came out, but Ford did not know it at the time. The Model N was built prior to the Model T. The workers on the Model N automobiles placed the parts in order along the floor while the under construction auto was on skids and moved down the line. The workers placed their respective parts on the machine as it passed by. For the Model T, Ford tried to make his process even better. He broke the assembly process into 84 small steps. On top of this, workers were trained for only one of the 84 steps. By having a machine that could make interchangeable parts faster than any human, the process accelerated quickly and there was no shortage on supplies. • 38. I Want A Wife, By Judy Brady In Judy Brady s essay, I Want a Wife , she explains the roles that wives performed in the mid 1900 s. Brady has an incredibly sarcastic tone to her essay and finds it hysterical that husbands want their wives to fulfill their commands. In the past, women were expected to stay at home and take care of their children. Their lives consisted of cooking, cleaning, and making sure they greet their husbands when they came home from work. But times have changed; the roles of women have evolved. Now, we see women doing all types of things. They have more opportunities to do what men can do. Since the 1950s, women have experienced a huge change in their status as wives, which can be seen through their ever changing independency, work status, and appearance. Nowadays, women are more independent. Ever since the 19th amendment passed, women were able to vote. This was one of the first steps that helped women get to where they are today. Voting has allowed women to speak their minds. It was the first step to prove that both men and women deserve to be equal. It was soon more socially acceptable for women to choose their own paths. Men no longer were able to legally dictate their lives. For example, not too long ago, a women needed a man to sign for permission whenever she wanted to open a bank account or purchase a car. Now, women do not have to worry about this as it isn t a concern anymore. Women are now allowed to buy new homes and property without having to be married. This allows ... • 40. Bob Dylan Influence Music has existed as a concept ever since the conception of the human race. The value of music has yet to be determined, as coming down to a precise conclusion on the impact music has had on the course of history will force humanity to confront the essence of humanity itself. Bob Dylan is an impeccable example of a prime character whose niche was the act of validating the human experience because many of his music pieces fixated on beat culture. Bob Dylan is considered one of the most influential artists in American society. Dylan contended that his politics were an essential element of his songs and that the social issues he chose to address were much more important than the music he wrote, one of his most prominent pieces, A Hard Rain s Gonna Fall was influenced by the Cuban Missile Crisis. Even after recording a plethora of albums, Mr. Seeger abhorred commercialism and never enjoyed the stardom he received. He regularly preferred to use his celebrity status to bear attention and contributions to the charities that moved him. Mr. Seeger envisioned himself as a component of a lasting folk tradition, continually reusing and, respectfully, revising music that had been preserved and mastered by time. • 42. My Goals For A Social Worker I did not always want to be a Social Worker. I wanted to be a psychologist when I graduated high school. My dreams for my career got put on hold because I became a single mother at a young age. Raising my child on my own was the hardest and most important thing to me. It was not until the Department of Children and Families (DCF) came and removed my niece from my sister s home, when I realized what Social Work was. At that moment, I knew I wanted to help children the same way the social workers do. My educational career started when I was laid off from my job 5 years ago. Part of the severance package that I received made it possible for me to collect unemployment until I finished my degree. I earned my A.S. degree in Human Services, and am currently working on obtaining my B.S. in Social Work, all while being a stay at home mom to a teenager. I have made the Dean s List for the past few semesters and would like the opportunity to help others with all the services that are available for the clients that are in need. Social Work, as a profession, is a great fit for me. My interest in social work originates from having the desire to be able to help children that are abused and neglected to find better homes and safe environments. Helping foster children find loving families, so they can be loved and happy too. I enjoy helping and making a difference in the lives of others. I have been so close to being homeless it scared me so much. Helping the homeless, homeless veterans, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The profile is generated using the answers to these questions, which typically include descriptors such as age, location, interests, and an about me section. Most sites also encourage users to upload a profile photo. Some sites allow users to enhance their profiles by adding multimedia content or modifying their profile s look and feel. Others, such as Facebook, allow users to add modules ( Applications ) that enhance their profile. The visibility of a profile varies by site and according to user discretion. By default, profiles on Friendster and Tribe.net are crawled by search engines, making them visible to anyone, regardless of whether or not the viewer has an account. Alternatively, LinkedIn controls what a viewer may see based on whether she or he has a paid account. Sites like MySpace allow users to choose whether they want their profile to be public or Friends only. Facebook takes a different approach by default, users who are part of the same network can view each other s profiles, unless a profile owner has decided to deny permission to those in their network. Structural variations around visibility and access are one of the primary ways that SNSs differentiate themselves from each other. (Boyd, 2006) After joining a social network site, users are prompted to identify others in the system with whom they have a relationship. The label for these relationships differs depending on the site popular terms include Friends, Contacts, and Fans. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Please keep in mind that this person will be subject to contact by anyone that reads the article. 5.) Delay the brand release date The final item up for discussion is the date of going live with the rebrand. I have had discussion with Jan, Michelle, and Judy as to the status of several key materials needed to facilitate a successful launch of the new brand. The original date we had discussed was Feb. 29th, after speaking with Jan in regards to the media release I am proposing that we change the Brand release date to Tuesday, March 8th. Delaying the release by a 8 days would allow us to insure all key materials have been produced and are in house. Also in speaking with Jan s contact for the Media Release, he recommended having the release go out on a Tuesday as it is accepted better by all parties involved. Again this is my recommendation and is up for debate among the group. Please feel review all items above and contact me with any questions regarding the content. Please reply all to the email with any suggestions or input on the matters at hand so all can review them. Thank you and have a wonderful ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
