Compare And Contrast Thomas Jefferson And George Washington
Chief Diplomat is defined as a leader who oversees, creates, and executes foreign relations and
policies between the United States and other countries. The two most influential Chief Diplomats the
US has ever had were George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. George Washington thrusted into the
presidency by unanimous vote of the electoral college. Throughout his presidency, George Washington
developed the country further than any president who would follow did. Washington was able to
defend the homeland and support the United State s foreign relations through his passing of the
Neutrality Proclamation, Jay s Treaty, and the Treaty of Tripoli. Many historians would argue that
Thomas Jefferson made strides in advancing the nation much further through his accomplishment of
acquiring the Louisiana Territory. Although neither president perfectly accomplished all goals they set
out to complete, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson single handedly accomplished, shaped,
and developed the nation through treaties and foreign relations far more than any other pair of
presidents during their terms as president. Both George Washington and Thomas Jefferson developed
many treaties during their terms as president, but each had one treaty that made them stand out from
other presidents to make them superior Chief Diplomats. For Thomas Jefferson this treaty is clearly
the Louisiana Purchase. The Louisiana Purchase nearly doubled the size of the United States, provided
land for American

Captain America Character Traits
Genuine compassion is a difficult trait to find today in a world so full of hatred and violence. One hero
of fiction that we could learn from to combat this negativity, and I especially have, is Captain America
(Steve Rogers) from the Marvel Comics Universe. He is more than just a character in my favorite
movies, he has taught me to be kind, loyal, and courageous and I believe our world could use the same
compassion that he displays. Captain America s loyalty is one of his most striking traits. In the second
film of the Captain America trilogy, he discovered that his best friend was the villain he had been
hunting the entire movie. Rogers did not turn his back on his friend, and even refused to fight him
periodically throughout the movie. Instead, Rogers helped rehabilitate his friend back from the brain
damage he suffered. In a similar fashion, I have learned to defend my friends from others, and remain
loyal to them. When arguments break out, I look to understand everyone s side of the story and I never
jump to conclusions. Every conflict has a solution and a source. Rogers has shown me that staying
with your friends, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He risks his life repeatedly to save his friends and strangers equally. What I ve learned from him is to
put others first. At my school, I m considered the mom among most of my friends because I take care
of my peers. I make sure that all of them are warm, even if I have to give them my jacket, I feed them,
even if its my own lunch, and I always keep a variety of helpful items for their use in my bag.
Including, but not limited to: lip balm, band aids, tissues, and breath mints. I attribute a large portion
of this aspect of my personality to Rogers. He volunteered to crash a plane full of explosives into the
sea, with himself inside, so that others would be allowed to live. I remember watching that scene and
vowing to myself that I would be as altruistic as he

The Hapsburg Valois Wars Of 1494 To 1559
The Hapsburg Valois Wars of 1494 to 1559 are often confused with the Italian Wars. However the
Italian War were a completely different set of wars. The Hapsburg Valois Wars were very much
intertwined with these wars. The latter arose from the instability of the Italian peninsula, which was
divided among a number of vulnerable powers, and also from a new willingness of outside rulers to
intervene. Initially, the most influential was Charles VIII of France (1483 1498), he invaded Italy in
1494, and manage to take over Naples that following March. Charles s success was particularly
achieved due to his advanced equipment. The cannons used iron shot, which allowed smaller
projectiles to achieve the same destructive impact as a larger stone shot. This made for smaller, lighter,
and ultimately more maneuverable cannons. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Importance Of Violent Crime
The last distinction between Saratoga County and Bronx County is violent crime. The measuring for
the violent crimes is through the amount of reported violent crimes such as homicide, rape, robbery in
100,000 people. Violent crime can cause people afraid to exercise outside, elevate the stress level in
daily activities, and increase the prevalence of other related diseases ( Violent Crime Description ,
2017). The data from the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute ( Compare Counties ,
2017) addressed that, the amount of violent crime in New York City is 394, in the Bronx is 621 and in
Saratoga is 80. From the interpretation of these data, the information can be understood that the
amount of violent crime in Bronx County is higher than Saratoga County and overall New York City.
Saratoga County is even much lower than the overall New York City. When it is applied to knowledge,
a lower number of violent crime in a population, the healthier they will be. Consequently, Saratoga
County is healthier than Bronx County.
Where does the data come from and how fair are the measures in county health rankings? I will
review the measures of adult obesity, injury death, and adult smoking to answer these questions.
The first measure is adult obesity, which use BRFSS method. It is a continuing state level telephone
survey to the population who older than eighteen years old ( Adult Obesity , 2017). The BRFSS
method has a high quality of reliability and validity. Nevertheless,

Mahatma Gandhi and The Salt March Essays
In an effort to help free India from the British rule, Mahatma Gandhi once again contributed to a
protest against salt taxes, known as the Salt March. This protest advocated Gandhi s theory of
satyagraha or nonviolent disobedience as the nation came together on March 12, 1930 to walk the 241
miles long journey to the shores of Dandi to attain salt. Although some Indians criticized Gandhi for
not achieving direct independence from the Raj or British rule, Gandhi s execution of the Salt March
helped to create a stronger nation for the Indians to live in. Gandhi motivated the Indians to act
robustly against the injustices of the salt taxes through nonviolent means. This caused Gandhi to
create a temporary compromising pact between Gandhi and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Gandhi believed that if the Satyagrahis maintained a strong posture, then satyagraha would become
even more effective. Unfortunately, after the trip to Dandi, Gandhi was arrested as a consequence for
the execution of Salt March along with the other protesters who were involved in buying, selling, or
making salt (Gold 86). However, while being held captive, a poet and a close associate of Gandhi,
Mrs. Sarojini Naidu, took an advantage of the new attention that the Satyagrahis and Gandhi had
aroused by leading another protest on the Dharsana Salt Works, which caused intense physical harm to
the protestors. Anne Todd asserts that as a leader of this particular protest, Naidu inspired and
reminded the Satyagrahis that even though Gandhi s body is in jail...his soul is with you. India s
prestige is in your hands. You must not use any violence under any circumstances. You will be beaten
but you must not resist; you must not even raise a hand to ward off blows (66). As the demonstrators
approached the site, they encountered the British police officers who were trying to block them and
were brutally bashing these Indians with five foot long steel tipped clubs (Todd 66). Despite the
British effort, these satyagrahis relentlessly marched forward. Ved Mehta points out a correspondent
for United Press, Webb Miller, who reports on the incident at the Dharsana Salt Works:

First Horse Legend
When I was about 13 I got my first horse. To most people this probably does not see, like a very big
deal. But to me it was the most exciting thing that had ever happened. I got him for my birthday from
my parents. His name was Moonlight Dancer and let me tell you he lived up to the name. He was the
most majestic creature I had ever seen. He was appaloosa quarter horse, his dad was a purebred
Appaloosa jumping horse. To top it off he was a champion. He ranked in the top 10 in the country.
Can you believe that! My horses dad was a legend. I called him dancer, he had previously been a
dressage horse but was retired due to his size. He was a pretty big horse to be doing delicate steps like
that. He was the sweetest animal ever. We instantly

1. Introduction
Nuclear conversion of an atomic nucleus from one form to another is known as radioactivity. These
conversions are accompanied by nuclear radiations, major nuclear radiations are alpha, beta and
gamma radiations these are ionisations radiations and hence are dangerous to living beings these
radiations can cause radiation sickness and sometimes can even lead to death. However these nuclear
radiations can be detected and measured and considerable research is also being done on eradicating
these nuclear radiations. [1] Molecules and ions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

1.1 Types of nuclear radiations.
There are primarily three different types of nuclear radiations α, β and γ radiation.Figure 2 shows
different types of radiation and their penetration capability.
Fig: 2 Penetrating capabilities of α, β and γ particles.
Alpha radiations consist of two protons and two neutrons, these mainly occur at the time of alpha
decay , Since alpha radiation travel a very short distance hence they can be easily stopped by paper or
normal clothes, Alpha radiations are harmful when in contact directly with the skin or the source being
swallowed.
Beta radiations are high speed and high energy electrons and positrons which occur are produced at
the time beta decay, beta radiation may travel meters in air and is moderately penetrating, these
radiations can penetrate up to germinal layer of the skin where new skin cells are produced and hence
can harm the skin quite effectively.
Gamma rays are high frequency electromagnetic radiations and contain high energy per photon; these
are produced by the decay of higher energy atomic nuclei. These rays can travel many meters in the
air and can penetrate the skin up to centimetres. Dense materials are needed to shield from gamma
radiation.

In the process of decontamination radiation detection is the most important process, A

Lizabeth s Struggle In Marigolds By Eugenia Collier
Eugenia Collier created a story called Marigolds, where a poor 14 year old girl named Lizabeth battles
society and herself to overcome her problems. Collier gave Lizabeth two conflicts: a man vs society
and a man vs self. Lizabeth s external conflict, man vs society, involves her and her family being in
poverty because of the Great Depression. These times serves as the antagonist because they caused a
lot of job shortages, and it just so happened that Lizabeth s father lost his. At first, Lizabeth and her
brother did whatever kids do. They played, hung out, and did not care about the hardships they face.
But Lizabeth later realizes the situation she is in when she overheard her parent s conversation of their
struggle to find essentials. In the conversation, Lizabeth s mother says that everybody out of work
now in order to comfort her husband, who complained about not having a job and not being able to
support his family (Collier 128). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She experiences many different emotions all at once, which causes an uprising within herself. The
inevitability of growing up proves to be the antagonist in this conflict because Lizabeth knows she has
to grow up, but her adolescent feelings pull her back. She was mixed up on what to feel and when, but
she had to get rid of one thing, whether it may be the Tadolescent feelings or the adult maturity. To
find out, she went through with one great impulse toward destruction (Collier 130). She ran over to the
thing she hated the most, her neighbor s beautiful marigold flower garden. Her being in poverty
caused her animosity towards the floral field. The marigolds shone a light of hope on her ugly town,
which ruined its darkness of despair. So she violently pulled out each flower and along with it, her
adolescent feelings. This defining moment left Lizabeth with nothing but maturity, and was finally
able to move forward to come of age without her childhood self pulling her

Introduction to Crohn s Disaease and Patients Diagnosis
Introduction to Crohn s disease and patients diagnosis:
The patient was presented to me with diagnosed crohn s disease, in remission stage. Crohn s disease is
a chronic inflammatory disease of the intestines. Primarily, it causes ulcerations in the small and large
intestines but has been seen to affect the digestive system anywhere from the oral cavity to the anus.
The disease has no known cure but once the disease begins it proceeds to vary between periods of
inactivity (remission) and activity (relapse). The cause of crohn s disease is unknown but from
research it is suspected that infections by certain bacterium could contribute to the disease. The
activation of the immune system in the intestines is seen to be of importance to patients with crohn s.
The immune system causes inflammation within the tissues where it occurs. In normal cases the
activation occurs when the body is exposed to harmful invaders. With patients with crohn s disease the
immune system is abnormally activated in the absence of any invader, thus resulting in chronic
inflammation and ulceration as seen in the figure below. The disease causes abscesses and a cobble
stone appearance to the infected area in the body, this infection causes the immune system to activate
in an inflammatory response. There are many types of crohn s disease depending on the severity of
inflammation, location and extent. Crohn s colitis is inflammation strictly confined to the colon. Crohn
s enteritis refers to inflammation

Introduction The final internship report is a way to reflect on your overall assessment on how you
taken the prior education of construction management, and applied it towards an internship. As well as
expressing new experiences that happened during the internship that school courses did not prepare
you for or not taught yet. These topics are covered by explaining the primary task that was performed
throughout the internship, and how technology was utilized in completing the responsibilities. While
performing these activities, how did they enhance your communication skills and public speaking
abilities. During the period of the internship, in what way were legal and ethical issues brought up,
and what lessons were learned to prevent future encounters. Internship Orientation and Preparation
Before going through orientation, I reported to the main office to go through a background check,
because I would be working on a school. Following the background check I needed to complete a
physical exam, and a drug test. Once my company received notification that I passed, I was scheduled
for orientation. During orientation, I went through multiple presentations, and ended with a safety
exam to give me authorization to work on the jobsite. Before reporting to orientation, I would
recommend researching your company and be able to recognize, and know the names of all upper
management employees. Activities and Experiences There was not a day during my internship, that I

How Successful Was The New Deal Dbq
Franklin Delano Roosevelt s New Deal wouldn t of even been made if it weren t for the Great
Depression. The Great Depression started on October 24, 1929. Stock prices were plummeting rapidly
by the minute. This all resulted in the stock market crashing leaving millions of American citizens
unemployed (about 25%)(Source A). Banks, factories, mines, steels, and mills were all closing.
Families were left homeless and starving on the street. 600 banks were closed and over 34 million had
no source of income(Source C). Lots of homeless people were living in Hoovervilles, deprived towns
made of cardboard, metal, and scraps(Source C). In 1933, when Franklin Roosevelt became president,
his goal was to return the United State s stock market back to normal. His plan was the New Deal. In

banking crisis.
One of the main reasons FDR s New Deal was successful was because it fixed the unemployment in
America. He did this by creating new jobs for people. During the Great Depression 25% of people
were unemployed. That was about 13 million people(Source B). As a result of this, American families
couldn t support themselves. 4 of President Roosevelt s solutions were the Civilian Conservation Corp
(CCC), the WPA, the FERA, and the Social Security Act (Sources E,F,G). The CCC hired unemployed
young men, ages 18 25, to work for a dollar a day. These men were also provided with 3 meals a day

Mozart Research Paper
As we all go through school, we seem to hear the name Mozart come up quite a bit. Everyone seems
to know the name and know a few things about him, but what was he really like? What did his music
sound like? Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was an Austrian composer, keyboard player, violinist, violist,
and conductor. He was born in Salzburg Austria in 1756, and died in 1791. Wolfgang is commonly
known as a child prodigy . At a very young age, he was taught harpsichord, violin and organ by his
father, and was presented in concerts before the royalty of Europe by the age of 6. (Ellsberg) At the
age of thirteen Wolfgang had already written symphonies, concertos, and sonatas and was known all
around Europe. Mozart is still known by many as the world s greatest musical genius. Wolfgang was
born to Leopold and Anna Maria Mozart on January 27th, 1756. Leopold, his father studied
philosophy, but never finished school. (Solomon) He later became a very talented violinist and
organist. Leopold and Anna Maria had seven children together, but only two survived, Wolfgang and
his older sister Maria Anna. (Solomon) Leopold was responsible for his children s education, and also
was the one to teach them music. Throughout his life, Wolfgang had written over 600 pieces of music.
Mozart was known for writing a lot of sad or depressing music. No one really understood why, but he
was always fascinated with the subject of death. Of course he wrote all of his own music, but in this

Statement of Purpose for Engineering and Technology
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
Our predecessors endeavoured to make men into machines; we are endeavouring to make machines
into men (CHARLES EDWARD JERNINGHAM, The Maxims of Marmaduke).
Skimming by these quotes is what made me to pursue my desired achievement in the fields of
electronics. The fields of electronics have brought much evolution in the world in this past century. It
also has change the way of looking at the things in our daily life and if there is any industry that is
going to completely redesigns our future that is definitely the electronics industry.
Moreover, my interest in electronics started to develop when I first came to know about computers
and its equipment. The technology of integrated circuits of transforming large electronic equipment
into small gadgets made me astonish and from then I started to solve the mysterious chips whenever I
get to lay my hands on them . It was then when I made my mind to pursue a career in the field of
electronics.
I have always been fascinated by the abundant field of electronics; hence it is my goal to become an
electronic engineer. Hence my quest for electronics made me follow to college which was why I chose
electronics and communication engineering and pursuing my bachelor degree as my field of expertise
and got admission into the reputed Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University s affiliated college,

Essay on Trojan Sofa
The Trojan Sofa
Bernard MacLaverty brings us The Trojan Sofa , a short story that incorporates a corrosive
relationship between a boy and his father, Niall and Da. The title itself suggests that deceit and
deception is a feature of the story, as it turns out, this is two fold. MacLaverty has innovatively chosen
to use the first person narrative mode to enable the reader to become much more familiar with Niall
and warm to him as a character. With Niall being the narrator, he speaks sincerely of Da but the reader
is forced to read between the lines to ascertain just how sincere Da is towards Niall.

Da would ve asked about dogs and alarms so in Niall s eyes, Da is looking out for him and making
sure he is safe. He doesn t see the bigger picture; he doesn t think Da would put him in danger. As Da
tell Niall about how the authorities like to keep us in the dark , the irony of this is not lost on the
reader, for Niall himself is in the dark twofold; he has been duped into spending a whole night in total
darkness in a sofa with the intention of burglarising the major s house for the patriotic reasons Da has
convinced him of but more upsettingly, we can see that Niall is being used as a pawn by Da to further
his criminal shenanigans, without Niall, Da could not pull off his devious schemes.
We are further convinced that Niall is being deceived by Da when it turns out that the British army
major is in fact an architect. Niall sees the framed diploma, but has been brainwashed so much that he
doesn t consider that the architecture diploma signifies that the major may not be a major at all.
Whether Da loves Niall or not is never in question, but Da is risking his long term bond with him, as
Niall becomes savvy to the real nature of the business he is involved in it could go one of two ways;
Da had better hope he has groomed Niall well enough to take the same outlook as himself. Although it
is never mentioned, the theme of deceit and betrayal between the two characters run through this

Use of Rhetoric in Nickel and Dimed
Why Should We Care
In her expose, Nickel and Dime, Barbara Ehrenreich shares her experience of what it is like for
unskilled women to be forced to be put into the labor market after the welfare reform that was going
on in 1998. Ehrenreich wanted to capture her experience by retelling her method of uncover
journalism in a chronological order type of presentation of events that took place during her endeavor.
Her methodologies and actions were some what not orthodox in practice. This was not to be a social
experiment that was to recreate a poverty social scenario, but it was to in fact see if she could maintain
a lifestyle working low wage paying jobs the way 4 million women were about to experience it.
Although Ehrenreich makes good ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most low wage workers do not have this luxury. They generally work pay check to pay check and don
t have time to save up to stash extra money for later. She learns this through her co workers as she
investigates into their lives and finds out that most of them live with multiple people, or within
parking lots. Most of Ehrenreich s co workers did not have a means of transportation other then public
transportation, or their transportation was their place of residency. Most lived in flophouses, shared
rooms, trailers, or hotel rooms. She also gave herself the luxury of being able to dip into her own
money that was saved up from her real job. She makes a friend with one of her co workers, Gail from
the Hearthside, and at the end of chapter one, after she leaves her job, she gives Gail her keys to her
apartment so she could move out of her flophouse that she pays $250 a week that she has been sharing
with someone. Like she said she was not trying to recreate poverty, but just experience it. She would
not let herself suffer by any means. She even went home to pick up cd s and drink a bottle of wine
after work. Now, this is where I feel that Barbara Ehrenreich actually makes a connection with her
audience. Her use of pathos, I feel, was the strongest argument that she could have made

Similarities Between Silk Road And Indian Ocean Trade
Throughout early history, civilizations often sought to receive resources from afar to sustain their
societies and keep themselves thriving, and to this end trade relations and eventually trade routes
began to emerge. This aided civilizations in their discovery of foreign items that they may use to better
their societies. These items traded ranged from complex technology to something as simple as
nutmeg. The main trade routes that were utilized in East and South Asia were the silk road and the
Indian Ocean Trade Network. In the 7th 12th centuries, both the silk road and Indian ocean trade route
had affected east and south Asia by the introduction of religions such as Buddhism changing
government forms and altering the belief systems of society and changing how individuals live their
daily lives, however differences were present in the impact that these routes had on daily lives, such as
the Indian Ocean Trade Route giving rise to an entire new culture in Africa known as the Swahili and
leading to the innovation of the sailing boat known as the Dhow, and the silk road led to the
transmission of religion and resources throughout Eurasia and it led to utilization of caravans and
animals as a means of trade. The Indian Ocean Trade Network, as well as the silk road had aided in
cultural diffusion, and the transmission of ideas, however these routes were different in the way in
which they were traversed and what ideas were specifically transmitted. The Indian Ocean Trade route

Comparing Pride In The Devil And Tom Walker And The Chase
What is the Tower of Babel? Besides being a big, old building, it is a symbol of the consequence of
pride. The plan was to build a tower that could reach the heavens in order to make a name for
ourselves , but God had different plans. He scattered them and confused the language of the whole
world (Genesis 11). This story is just one of many in the Bible discussing the why the vice pride is
regarded as the worst of the Seven Deadly Sins. Both Washington Irving s The Devil and Tom Walker
and Herman Melville s Moby Dick ( The Chase ) contain this theme, and thus provide insight on the
disastrous results of pride. Washington Irving found inspiration for his short story in the German
legend of Faust, which was a story of a man making ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the story, he seeks to dominate nature, such as when he discusses the wind. He states that
tis a noble and heroic thing, the wind! who ever conquered it?... [it] will not stand to receive a single
blow. Simply put, he wants to fight wind, but feels it is unfair since he can t retaliate with any attack.
This is evident in his revenge plan against a sperm whale, Moby Dick. The beast previously tore off
Ahab s leg, so he wanted to kill it. However, he knowingly put the lives of his crew at risk in an
attempt of killing the gargantuan marine mammal. Essentially, that is exactly what happens their ship,
the Pequod is wrecked, and everyone dies. Ahab becomes tangled in the harpoon water and drowns as
the whale dives down. This strongly parallels with Tom Walker s disappearance, where he is taken by
the Devil, showing the harmful results of displaying pride. On the other hand, the consequences that
Tom faced were much less violent than what happened to Ahab and his crew. Furthermore, the conflict
in The Devil and Tom Walker was not about revenge, but greed as the whole reason Tom dealt with
Old Scratch was to get the buried treasure. All in all, Melville s and Irving s stories are nearly identical
in regards to the big picture, but differ in how the theme is

Khe Sanh Australian Poem Analysis
Hello ladies and gentlemen, I am here to bring forth some poems that represent our beautiful country
for the Australian day anthology. Australians identity is a wonderful thing with our mate ship and way
of life respected throughout the world. Our acknowledgement of our past makes us the country we are
and creates the country we have, with the pride shared between all who happily call Australia there
home. These poems explore our country s pride through times of hardship, this being the Vietnam war.
And how our strong mate ship and pride helped us prevail through this time. These are very clear
throughout the poems becoming clear staple pieces for this era.
The first poem is the song, Khe Sanh by Cold Chisel written in 1978 and based upon the post stress of
the Vietnam war, created on everyone involved. It expresses how life was for the war veterans after
this dreadful war they just endured, showing the struggle fitting back into a normal society. It explores
the journey of a VET combating this stress. They try to suppress it but no matter how hard they try to
this doesn t work. So, they go looking to discover the real meaning behind it all.
And I ve travelled round the world from year to year And each one found me aimless, one more year

Impact Of Adolf Hitler The Leader Of The Nazi Party
HITLER BECOMES LEADER OF THE NAZI PARTY
On July 29th, 1921 Adolf Hitler becomes the leader of the NAZI party. In early 1921 the aspiring
leader had become good at giving speeches in front of large crowds. In February earlier that year, in
Munich, Hitler spoke in front of around six thousand people. At this point Hitler was starting to get
noticed outside of the NAZI party for his extreme views and powerful speeches. Slowly the many
extreme right wing in Munich started looking toward the rising politician and the NAZI movement as
the only person who would do something. Already Hitler was looking to carry his movement to the
rest of Germany, he then travelled to Berlin near the middle of 1921 to meet a nationalist group. In his
absence there was a revolt in the NAZI party leadership in Munich. At that point of time the Party was
still run by an executive committee whose members saw Hitler as arrogant and dictatorial. To weaken
Hitler s position, they formed an alliance with a group of socialists from Augsburg. July 11th, 1921,
Hitler made it back to Munich where he announced his resignation from the NAZI party. The leaders
of the party realised that the loss of Hitler would mean the end of the NAZIs. Hitler announced that he
would return to the party if the chairman gave him dictatorial powers. The committee members where
infuriated but after a while the committee gave in and put it down to a vote in which Adolf Hitler won

Department of Pharmaceutics, St.Pauls College of Pharmacy, Hayathnagar, Telangana, India
Abstract:
The purpose of the present research work was to design, formulate and evaluate the floating tablets of
Stavudine, a gastro retentive drug delivery system. Direct compression was used to prepare the tablets
using HPMC K4M, HPMC K15M and Carbopol 974(p) as polymers. Formulations were prepared by
varying the amount of polymers. The compatibility of drug with the polymers is identified by using
FTIR studies. Gastric floating of Stavudine tablets results from effervescence produced by the reaction
between sodium bicarbonate and hydrochloric acid in stomach. Twelve formulations of floating tablets
were prepared using direct compression technique with polymer such as carbopol974 (p), HPMC
grades, Xanthum gum, Guar gum, chitosan in different ratios. The evaluation results revealed that all
formulations comply with the specification of official pharmacopoeias and/or standard reference with
respect to general appearance, content uniformity, hardness, friability and buoyancy. Out of all the
formulation developed, formulation F8 containing of Carbopol showed in vitro drug release of 97.8%
upto desired time period of i.e., 24 hours. Thus it is summarized; carbopol grades can be used in
formulation of gastro retentive floating drug delivery

Analysis Of The World We Have Lost
History is a collection of stories, and stories can often differ from the facts. This is because the past
can often be distorted and only show certain aspects deemed important. Historian Peter Laslett is
frustrated by this and describes in his paper The World We Have Lost how the pre industrial society
has been forgotten. Society has mostly been patriarchal in human history. Each household contained
roughly 10 20 people, ran by a male master, housing his wife, children, apprentices, and servants. The
group was considered a family and usually worked together producing a singular product as well as
maintaining the household. Land owning men ran the world and hired those who were less fortunate.
Today however, families now consist of related individuals that live separate lives with separate
beliefs. Should patriarchy stay in the past or should it be adopted into modern life? I believe that
Laslett s lost world was abandoned for a reason and should stay lost due to the modern ideas of
choice, change, and culture. Choice is the best part of today s society. The life I am living today would
not be possible in patriarchal society. I am living on my own, attending university a thousand miles
away from home in a completely different field of my father. If I was living in the lost world , I would
be raised to inherit my father s trade like woodworking, farming, etc. I would not have choice and my
life would basically be decided before I was born. The power of choice is

Ocean City Visual Pollution
Additionally, many of the locals have issues with the decision to build the wind farm off the coast of
Ocean City. The Ocean City Mayor stated that the residents of the city voiced their large concern with
visual pollution . The residents proposed that the wind farms be built further offshore in hopes to
avoid this issue. Councilman Dennis Dare, also prefers the wind farm be pushed at least eight miles
further offshore to aid in the solution for visual pollution. However, even with the already hefty price
tag of the wind farm, pushing it further out would cost one million dollars per mile. If the wind farm
causes visual pollution, it may result in a decline of tourists and revenue for the city. In 2016, tourists
have spent $16.4 billion dollars at Maryland tourism related businesses, 98% of which are made up of
small local businesses, all of which will suffer great financial droughts in their business. Businesses
such as restaurants, arcades, stores, and hotels will face severe decreases in their profits, because of
the lack of tourism. Tourism is a major generator of jobs, directly employing more than 140,288
Marylanders in 2014, with a payroll of $5.4 billion (Maryland Chamber of Commerce , 2016).
Furthermore, if tourist decide not to visit Ocean City, many jobs will be cut due to the decrease in

It does not go in chronological order nor does it way its work up from Jefferson s death. This book is

not like for several reasons. The main reason is the order of this book. Chronological order is the way
I would prefered to of read it. The vocabulary was higher level and it is understandable because it is a
nonfiction history adult book but it was very time consuming looking up all these words I ve never
seen before. Most of the book focuses on letters that Jefferson wrote during his lifetime but the author
could have focused less on this subject and more on the actual life of Jefferson. The order of this book
was not the best but it was a very interesting topic. This book went in detail of what Jefferson left
behind after his death like his letters and quotes. Another thing, the author of this book showed very
much his strong biased opinion about Jefferson on several parts of the book. Burstein tries his best to
justify some of Jefferson s errors which changes some facts to the opinions of the author. I did enjoy
the chapter where he talk about the University of Virginia and the chapter that focuses on Sally

Essay on Hardships Facing the Gray Wolf Population
An eerie howl fills the air; it bellows over the darkened valley floor. A majestic show of fur and fang
dance behind a herd of deer leaping through blanketed snow. Within a second, gunshots echo; and a
fallen beauty lays unmoving, painting the snow beneath a deep red. In the past, with little
understanding and an abundance of anger, humans in North America have caused much change to the
gray wolf s life. Alterations in habitat, behavior, diet, and human measures for control have created a
multitude of hardships for the gray wolf population. Encroachment from human settlers has caused
dramatic adjustments in the gray wolf s habitat and behavior. Since the beginning of colonization in

These conditions forced packs of gray wolves to retreat away from their known territory into other
gray wolves habitat, causing blood soaked battles to ensue. The only alternative was for them to
change their behavior, and try to coexist with their new human company. As main food sources
diminished due to human hunting, the gray wolf found it more difficult to have a successful hunt.
Hunters began taking the wolves main food sources, which forced the wolves to expand their daily
search for prey. This caused wolves to venture near human settlements more often, looking for some
kind of nourishment. With humans and wolves vying for many of the same food sources, wolves
found slow and trusting farm animals a much easier target. Sheep and cattle were believed to be a new
staple for the gray wolf diet. Although in reality, only in very rare circumstances were livestock
hunted for meals by gray wolves. Many embellished the situation and persuaded people gray wolves
were a threat. A menace not only to livestock, but also humans; moreover that action needed to be
taken.
The fabricated lies spread by people caused many to take barbaric steps toward what they believed
necessary control of wolves. Wanting more profit for themselves, greedy hunters looked for an easy
way to get rid of competition. Using traps, hunters started catching wolves for their pelts, which they
could sell for money. Hunting wolves also

It costs 86p plus a referral fee for each sale. You are also restricted to the product categories you can
sell in. However, the advantage is that it costs virtually nothing to start and there are no ongoing
charges if, initially, you don t sell very much.
Selling a lot is for professional sellers who expect to sell more than 35 items a month. You pay a 28.75
monthly fixed fee and a referral fee. You can sell in all the Amazon product categories.
It isn t always viable to list low price, low volume products as a sell a little seller. To do that you need
to be a sell a lot seller! However, I d recommend you take the selling a little route to start out with.
You can always upgrade later.
Choose your option, then fill in the online form.
Pro Merchant Sellers
Once you are selling a lot you will probably also want to become what Amazon call a Pro Merchant
Seller. Pro Merchants have access to volume selling and bulk listing tools. There is a web interface
that allows you to more easily manage your product descriptions, inventory and orders. You will also
be able to export and import information to and from your account.
Once you get up and running the selling a lot/Pro Merchant option will work out much cheaper and,
importantly, will allow you to work on tighter margins and make money from sales that those who sell

Hegemonic Masculinity In American Culture
1. Hegemonic Masculinity is basically the idea of male dominance. This is important to American
Culture because, it helps to explain why males put themselves higher than females. In the American
culture it is easy to see that males have more power in the deciding aspects. One of the ways to see
this is in the government. If you look at the United States government you would see that the majority
of representatives are males. Additionally, if you look at the list of presidents you would see that they
have all been males. This goes to show that the male dominance is a real thing in terms of a glance.

Hegemonic Masculinity takes place. One of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the most common would be insults. If you have a male on a baseball team and the coach tells
him he throws like a girl. The coach just told that male that they do not throw well and that they are
weak. One of the reason that we get this idea is because society has tried to convince us that females
are weak. They do this through branding and media. So when the coach tells the boy that he throws
like a girl the coach is really telling the boy that his throw is weak and needs to be stronger to make a
difference. Another saying that is used is boys don t cry . This puts into the male culture that men are
not supposed to cry or be weak. If you are a male and cry in public you are looked down upon and
seem to be not masculine. If a male feels unmasculine they will try to do everything that they can to be
more masculine. One of the great places use see this is in college. If you look at a lot of fraternity s
hazing rituals you see that most of them are trying to get the men to act more macho and strong. This
is to increase their Hegemonic Masculinity. They do this because they have been told from a young
age that being emotional and weak are female traits and if you fall into these trait then you are not a
real male. And so they go and do these things to fit into what society tells them to do, so that they can

A High School Dropout Is Not An Organization
INTRODUCTION
Each of our habits has a different catalyst and offers a unique payoff. Some are simple and others are
complex, drawing upon emotional triggers and offering subtle neurochemical prizes. But every habit,
no matter its complexity, is flexible, liable to change. The most addicted alcoholic can become not
intoxicated. The most dysfunctional families can transform themselves. A high school dropout can
become a very efficacious executive.
Changing habits is not just a matter of willpower, despite what you‟ve probably learned. Sure, we all
have habits we‟ve tried to break and failed. And good habits we‟ve tried to acquire and dropped. But
the real impediment to change for most people is not a lack of determination it‟s a lack of
understanding how habit works.
As it happens, habits all get modified in somewhat the same way. When an individual successfully
quits smoking or an organization changes collective behavior to improve its safety standards, there are
certain universal patterns at work. During their extensive studies of the underpinnings of habit in the
1990s, researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology discovered a simple neurological loop
at the core of every habit. All habits, it turns out, consist of three parts: a routine, a reward and a cue.
The researchers dubbed this the habit loop.
As they studied people and organizations that had successfully changed stubborn, pernicious
behaviors, they learned that they all followed more or less the same

America’s Assistance to the Tibetans Essay
America s Assistance to the Tibetans
Starting in the late 1940s, with Cold War tensions running high and the subsequent Communist
takeover of China as well as the outbreak of the Korean War, there was a growing fear in the United
States of the possibility of a global conflict between the Communist bloc and the West. Thus, the US
government adopted a policy of doing its best to contain Communism around the world, especially in
Asia after the formation of the People s Republic of China (PRC). When the People s Liberation Army
(PLA) invaded Tibet in 1950, the US considered it possible or even probable that the PRC would use
Tibet as a launching pad to expand Communism into the rest of South and Southeast Asia, an early

In keeping with the historic Chinese conviction(never actually formalized) that Tibet was at the very
least a vassal state of China, the Nationalist government took the official stated view that Tibet was an
integral part of the Republic of China (Xu 1063). Therefore, we deferred to the Nationalist point of
view when considering Tibet s legal status in the 1940s. The fact that the KMT believed Tibet to be
part of China would be a factor in the US Tibet policy as long as the KMT remained in power in
mainland China ( Norbu 264). In fact, if the KMT somehow managed to hold on to power in China in
the Civil War against the Communists, the US would have declined to support Tibetan independence.
However, by 1948 the KMT s defeat was imminent and the US Ambassador in India recognized the
possibility that if the Communists succeed in controlling all of China...we should be prepared to treat
Tibet as independent to all intents and purposes (Knaus 55). At this early stage, even with such
statements bringing up the issue of recognizing Tibetan independence, the US continued to make an
effort to avoid alienating Chiang Kai shek and the KMT (Roberts 2).
By early 1949, Mao s Communist forces had gained full control and formed the PRC. Its stated goals

Michael Pollan has recognized that there is an issue in today s society, and that issue is climate
change. Within the article of, Why Bother , by Michael Pollan, he talks about an effect that society
itself may have inflicted upon themselves. But looking at the actual reasoning behind why the climate
is changing is baffling. In the text of Why Bother , Michal Pollen talks about climate change is on us,
yet before reading the text, I assumed that maybe climate change was just destiny, and continues to
happen because it s due. Yet now I believe that we as a people, have actually caused climate change to
progress quicker than as planned. Pollan explains that we as a people have to be active in the change
we want to see. I can say I concur and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pollan does a great job in filling in the gaps on feeling the urge to do something and actually acting
upon those feelings. He even shares of ways of how we could be a help and have an impact on culture.
He gave an great example on gardening. Gardening may seem small, yet has many benefits, such as
saving carbon and also we somewhat teaches us to be self sufficient. Rather than depending on society
for every little and big thing, we become reliable on ourselves and begin to show respect to the
climate, mother Earth. Also another big thing is that we are now providing our own food for ourselves,
our families, and others who may even pay to get your produce. Pollan says, as we began to garden,
we will reduce the power of the cheap energy mind by personally overcoming it s most debilitating
weakness: it s helplessness and the fact that it can t do much of anything that doesn t involve division
or subtraction. I believe the big lesson that the garden teaches us is that as long as the sun is up and we
can still plan an even plant, that there are ways we can accommodate ourselves and not weaken our

To: The Park Manager
This report demonstrates the current financial situation for the Stratton Township Park and makes
recommendations for the annual program budget for the next fiscal year. We first show the current
annual budget program, indicating line item details for each function by account and summarizing the
park budget as a whole. Second, we find the break even points for the golf course green fee and the
pool admission to determine what the park would have to charge in order to cover expenses of the
these operations. Next, we calculate the marginal revenues and expenses to determine the impact of
shutting down certain programs in the park. Lastly, this report prepares the revised budget for the
upcoming fiscal year based on our recommendations.
In Part 1, we have prepared an annual budget program for the Stratton Township Park that consists of
all park operations. This includes golf operations, the pool, concerts, nature tours and visitors,
concession operations, and administrative costs. A program budget focuses on the cost and revenues of
specific programs (Finkler, Purtell, Calabrese, Smith, 2013, pg. 76). This budget approach helps
management evaluate a program s profitability and aids in deciding if an organization can afford this
specific program. Based on total revenues and operating expenses, the park is experiencing a loss in
all program operations. According to the current annual budget, the township will have to provide a
subsidy of $597,101 to

Greek Culture And Greco-Roman Culture
Exploration, Encounter, and Exchange of the Greeks and Romans
The Romans explored, encountered, and exchanged cultural ideas, art forms and conventions,
religious ideas, and inventions with the Greeks. Because the Romans explored further and encountered
the Greeks, Greco Roman culture was eventually formed. The exploration and trade between different
societies is imperative to cultural growth, and the Romans are an example of a society that achieved
just that. One of Rome s first encounters with the Greeks occurred when Roman rule expanded further
into the Mediterranean during the Pax Romana, a time of peace that the Roman military force
experienced, right before the beginning of the the crisis of the third century. Greeks and Greek ...

Bill Gates, Lebron James, Derek Jeter, and Jeff Bezos are all positive role models; but to me Michael
Jordan is at the top of the list. Michael Jordan is a one of a kind person and that s why he is my role
model and someone I would love to meet. To start, even Michael Jordan fails: he tried at for the
varsity basketball team for his high school and was cut; but this didn t stop him from competing in
basketball. If anything it motivated him. His dad established two basketball hoops in his backyard and
he practiced so much that the grass turned into dirt. Then boom he became varsity material; he earned

A Study On A Cerebral Vascular Accident
A cerebral vascular incident can happen to anyone at anytime. Some people know it be called a stroke,
CVA, or brain attack. The majority of patients who have had a stoke will have another one within one
year. Stoke tend to occur more often in the southern United States also known as the stroke belt . This
may be related to the larger number of elderly, tobacco use, and obesity. A cerebral vascular accident
ranks high in the major leading causes of death in the United States, and it happens nearly every four
minutes. There are three different types of stroke ischemic, hemorrhagic, and transient ischemic
attacks. The larger number of cerebral vascular accidents is known to be ischemic. The artery that

Each minute that passes is increased cell death in the brain. This means the effect of the stroke will be
more severe and have more of an impact on the person. A stroke is a medical emergency and signs
should be recognized and treated abruptly. Signs of a cerebral vascular accident include decreased
sensation, weakness, confusion, trouble speaking or understanding, trouble seeing or blurred vision,
trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance or coordination, or headache with no known cause. The
American Heart Association (2013), has put out a saying, Spot a stroke F.A.S.T. F for face drooping, A
for arm weakness, S for speech difficulty, T for time to call 911. Treatment is dependent upon the
onset of the symptoms, so acting fast and seeking medical attention is critical. Women may report
unique symptoms such as loss of consciousness or fainting, general weakness, difficult or shortness of
breath, confusion, unresponsiveness, sudden behavioral change, agitation, hallucination, nausea or
vomiting, pain, seizures, or hiccups.
If the patient controls specific risk factors a stroke can be warded off. Managing risk factors includes
blood pressure, which is the cause of half of all strokes, tobacco use, atrial fibrillation and physical
inactivity. In order to prevent some of these key risk medications may be needed. Anticoagulant,

Vampirism Research Paper
Throughout history, vampirism and werewolfism have been the basis of most horror stories but some
people believe they have come across these mythical creatures. An example of a werewolf sighting is
that of Lorianne Endrizzi in the autumn of 1989 in Wisconsin, USA. She was driving on Bray Road
where she thought someone was kneeling at the side of the road. She slowed down and the figure
stared at her from six feet away from her car. The creature was coated head to toe with grey and brown
hair, with large fangs and sharp ears. She stated to a reporter that his face was long and had a snout,
like a wolf. The figure s eyes apparently glowed in the darkness and they were a yellow gold colour.
Lorianne further reported that The arms were kind ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Usually, the werewolf turns back into a human at sunrise, with no recall of the previous night s
actions. Lycanthropy is a clinical name given to werewolves in fiction, but is also a medical term
referring to someone who is under the influence that they are a wolf (The Brain Bank North West
2012).
Some medical theories concerning the origin of werewolves are based around porphyria which is a
disease that effects the skin and nervous system, the same disease linked to the vampire myth. Some
victims of porphyria display the fang canine look caused by the corrosion of the gums. Furthermore,
following exposure to light, the healing blisters on the skin often grow a thin layer of hair (The Brain
Bank North West 2012).
Wolves are carriers of the lupine parvovirus (LPV), and it is suggested that the virus is responsible for
lycanthropy. LPV infected wolves are resistant to environmental trauma, including digestive enzymes,
making it much easier to spread through contaminated food and water sources. Wolves infect humans
through biting and after infection, there is a period of high fever, chills and other flu like symptoms,
and the victim is likely to experience extreme dehydration and itching as their metabolism and heart
rate increase (Hugo Pecos and Robert Lomax

What Is The Theme Of Justice In Dante s Inferno
Nichamon Roongroj
Professor Harrington
RN 106
November 15, 2017
The Inferno of Dante
In the Fourth Circle of Hell, Dante encounters those who have been condemned to the inferno for
reasons of greed. In this Fourth Circle, once again Dante s use of contrapasso is apparent with the
punishment assigned to the greedy. These people have lived a life on Earth that was constantly
distinguished by their avarice. Thus, such individuals hoard their wealth in an effort to merely
accumulate material goods. They are not concerned with any type of use of these goods, but instead
simply attempt to multiply them, in line with the logic of greed. For the avarice person, it is the
constant acquisition and storage of material goods, such as money, which dominates ... Show more

For instance, the flatterers are forced to eat excrement in hell because their words are meaningless. In
Canto III, the first seven lines read, through me you enter into the city of woes...justice moved my
high maker, in power divine, wisdom supreme which suggests that God created Hell for justice. Many
of the sins mirror the actions on Earth to create a balance. The sinner receive punishment that befits
their sin. Dante, speaking from a Christian perspective, upholds that a concept of justice is central to
the faith. When the human being sins he commits a transgression, which must be paid for in the
afterlife: if there was no punishment, there would be no justice, since every human being, regardless
of how they lived their life, would be treated the same. These punishments reflect justice in this sense,
and also in the specific sense of how each punishment suits a specific sin. Without punishment,
without a sense of justice, it would show a God who essentially does not care how people have lived
their lives. And in this sense, it is also love: precisely because through justice God does show that he
cares about how human beings have conducted themselves and does pay attention to the actions of
human beings and recognizes ethical

My Course Load On A Pre Med Track
1. To date, I am currently enrolled at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. I am pursing a Health Science
Studies degree on a Pre Med track. My course load is 17 credit hours including chapel twice a week,
Christian Scriptures class, and a new student experience class required by every Freshman or transfer
student attending Baylor. Along with those, I am in General Biology I, General Chemistry I, General
Biology Lab I, General Chemistry Lab I, Calculus, and General English Composition. Although it is a
vigorous course, a strong suit of mine is time management which is extremely helpful. 2. I am
fascinated by the science field. It is constantly changing through new discoveries. I find it very
interesting that everything in this field may not be true and can be proven wrong. There is nothing set
in stone and through these new discoveries we are able to back up theories and hypotheses or prove
them wrong and in turn opening up new areas of study. I also like knowing why things happen and the
reasoning behind them. My favorite class right now is General Biology I because I am able to
understand the body and why things happen. I am able to make connections about why things happen.
We are currently learning about genetics and I am able to see that Down Syndrome also referred to as
Trisomy 21. I can connect the two names together because tri means 3 resulting in 3 chromosomes of
number 21. I loved being able to make connections where the light bulb in my head goes off. Another

  • 2. Compare And Contrast Thomas Jefferson And George Washington Chief Diplomat is defined as a leader who oversees, creates, and executes foreign relations and policies between the United States and other countries. The two most influential Chief Diplomats the US has ever had were George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. George Washington thrusted into the presidency by unanimous vote of the electoral college. Throughout his presidency, George Washington developed the country further than any president who would follow did. Washington was able to defend the homeland and support the United State s foreign relations through his passing of the Neutrality Proclamation, Jay s Treaty, and the Treaty of Tripoli. Many historians would argue that Thomas Jefferson made strides in advancing the nation much further through his accomplishment of acquiring the Louisiana Territory. Although neither president perfectly accomplished all goals they set out to complete, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson single handedly accomplished, shaped, and developed the nation through treaties and foreign relations far more than any other pair of presidents during their terms as president. Both George Washington and Thomas Jefferson developed many treaties during their terms as president, but each had one treaty that made them stand out from other presidents to make them superior Chief Diplomats. For Thomas Jefferson this treaty is clearly the Louisiana Purchase. The Louisiana Purchase nearly doubled the size of the United States, provided land for American ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Captain America Character Traits Genuine compassion is a difficult trait to find today in a world so full of hatred and violence. One hero of fiction that we could learn from to combat this negativity, and I especially have, is Captain America (Steve Rogers) from the Marvel Comics Universe. He is more than just a character in my favorite movies, he has taught me to be kind, loyal, and courageous and I believe our world could use the same compassion that he displays. Captain America s loyalty is one of his most striking traits. In the second film of the Captain America trilogy, he discovered that his best friend was the villain he had been hunting the entire movie. Rogers did not turn his back on his friend, and even refused to fight him periodically throughout the movie. Instead, Rogers helped rehabilitate his friend back from the brain damage he suffered. In a similar fashion, I have learned to defend my friends from others, and remain loyal to them. When arguments break out, I look to understand everyone s side of the story and I never jump to conclusions. Every conflict has a solution and a source. Rogers has shown me that staying with your friends, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He risks his life repeatedly to save his friends and strangers equally. Including, but not limited to: lip balm, band aids, tissues, and breath mints. I attribute a large portion of this aspect of my personality to Rogers. He volunteered to crash a plane full of explosives into the sea, with himself inside, so that others would be allowed to live. The Hapsburg Valois Wars were very much intertwined with these wars. The latter arose from the instability of the Italian peninsula, which was divided among a number of vulnerable powers, and also from a new willingness of outside rulers to intervene. Initially, the most influential was Charles VIII of France (1483 1498), he invaded Italy in 1494, and manage to take over Naples that following March. Charles s success was particularly achieved due to his advanced equipment. The cannons used iron shot, which allowed smaller projectiles to achieve the same destructive impact as a larger stone shot. This made for smaller, lighter, and ultimately more maneuverable cannons. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 5. The Importance Of Violent Crime The last distinction between Saratoga County and Bronx County is violent crime. The measuring for the violent crimes is through the amount of reported violent crimes such as homicide, rape, robbery in 100,000 people. Violent crime can cause people afraid to exercise outside, elevate the stress level in daily activities, and increase the prevalence of other related diseases ( Violent Crime Description , 2017). The data from the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute ( Compare Counties , 2017) addressed that, the amount of violent crime in New York City is 394, in the Bronx is 621 and in Saratoga is 80. From the interpretation of these data, the information can be understood that the amount of violent crime in Bronx County is higher than Saratoga County and overall New York City. Saratoga County is even much lower than the overall New York City. When it is applied to knowledge, a lower number of violent crime in a population, the healthier they will be. Consequently, Saratoga County is healthier than Bronx County. Where does the data come from and how fair are the measures in county health rankings? I will review the measures of adult obesity, injury death, and adult smoking to answer these questions. The first measure is adult obesity, which use BRFSS method. It is a continuing state level telephone survey to the population who older than eighteen years old ( Adult Obesity , 2017). The BRFSS method has a high quality of reliability and validity. • 6. Mahatma Gandhi and The Salt March Essays In an effort to help free India from the British rule, Mahatma Gandhi once again contributed to a protest against salt taxes, known as the Salt March. This protest advocated Gandhi s theory of satyagraha or nonviolent disobedience as the nation came together on March 12, 1930 to walk the 241 miles long journey to the shores of Dandi to attain salt. Although some Indians criticized Gandhi for not achieving direct independence from the Raj or British rule, Gandhi s execution of the Salt March helped to create a stronger nation for the Indians to live in. Gandhi motivated the Indians to act robustly against the injustices of the salt taxes through nonviolent means. This caused Gandhi to create a temporary compromising pact between Gandhi and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gandhi believed that if the Satyagrahis maintained a strong posture, then satyagraha would become even more effective. Unfortunately, after the trip to Dandi, Gandhi was arrested as a consequence for the execution of Salt March along with the other protesters who were involved in buying, selling, or making salt (Gold 86). However, while being held captive, a poet and a close associate of Gandhi, Mrs. Sarojini Naidu, took an advantage of the new attention that the Satyagrahis and Gandhi had aroused by leading another protest on the Dharsana Salt Works, which caused intense physical harm to the protestors. Anne Todd asserts that as a leader of this particular protest, Naidu inspired and reminded the Satyagrahis that even though Gandhi s body is in jail...his soul is with you. India s prestige is in your hands. You must not use any violence under any circumstances. You will be beaten but you must not resist; you must not even raise a hand to ward off blows (66). As the demonstrators approached the site, they encountered the British police officers who were trying to block them and were brutally bashing these Indians with five foot long steel tipped clubs (Todd 66). Despite the British effort, these satyagrahis relentlessly marched forward. There are primarily three different types of nuclear radiations α, β and γ radiation.Figure 2 shows different types of radiation and their penetration capability. Fig: 2 Penetrating capabilities of α, β and γ particles. Alpha radiations consist of two protons and two neutrons, these mainly occur at the time of alpha decay , Since alpha radiation travel a very short distance hence they can be easily stopped by paper or normal clothes, Alpha radiations are harmful when in contact directly with the skin or the source being swallowed. Beta radiations are high speed and high energy electrons and positrons which occur are produced at the time beta decay, beta radiation may travel meters in air and is moderately penetrating, these radiations can penetrate up to germinal layer of the skin where new skin cells are produced and hence can harm the skin quite effectively. Gamma rays are high frequency electromagnetic radiations and contain high energy per photon; these are produced by the decay of higher energy atomic nuclei. These rays can travel many meters in the air and can penetrate the skin up to centimetres. Dense materials are needed to shield from gamma radiation. 1.2Radiation Detection In the process of decontamination radiation detection is the most important process, A ... • 9. Lizabeth s Struggle In Marigolds By Eugenia Collier Eugenia Collier created a story called Marigolds, where a poor 14 year old girl named Lizabeth battles society and herself to overcome her problems. Collier gave Lizabeth two conflicts: a man vs society and a man vs self. Lizabeth s external conflict, man vs society, involves her and her family being in poverty because of the Great Depression. These times serves as the antagonist because they caused a lot of job shortages, and it just so happened that Lizabeth s father lost his. At first, Lizabeth and her brother did whatever kids do. They played, hung out, and did not care about the hardships they face. But Lizabeth later realizes the situation she is in when she overheard her parent s conversation of their struggle to find essentials. In the conversation, Lizabeth s mother says that everybody out of work now in order to comfort her husband, who complained about not having a job and not being able to support his family (Collier 128). ... To find out, she went through with one great impulse toward destruction (Collier 130). She ran over to the thing she hated the most, her neighbor s beautiful marigold flower garden. Her being in poverty caused her animosity towards the floral field. The marigolds shone a light of hope on her ugly town, which ruined its darkness of despair. So she violently pulled out each flower and along with it, her adolescent feelings. • 10. Introduction to Crohn s Disaease and Patients Diagnosis Introduction to Crohn s disease and patients diagnosis: The patient was presented to me with diagnosed crohn s disease, in remission stage. Crohn s disease is a chronic inflammatory disease of the intestines. Primarily, it causes ulcerations in the small and large intestines but has been seen to affect the digestive system anywhere from the oral cavity to the anus. The disease has no known cure but once the disease begins it proceeds to vary between periods of inactivity (remission) and activity (relapse). The cause of crohn s disease is unknown but from research it is suspected that infections by certain bacterium could contribute to the disease. The activation of the immune system in the intestines is seen to be of importance to patients with crohn s. The immune system causes inflammation within the tissues where it occurs. In normal cases the activation occurs when the body is exposed to harmful invaders. With patients with crohn s disease the immune system is abnormally activated in the absence of any invader, thus resulting in chronic inflammation and ulceration as seen in the figure below. The disease causes abscesses and a cobble stone appearance to the infected area in the body, this infection causes the immune system to activate in an inflammatory response. There are many types of crohn s disease depending on the severity of inflammation, location and extent. Crohn s colitis is inflammation strictly confined to the colon. Haritha Sunil*, Praveen Kanna, Sampath.M Department of Pharmaceutics, St.Pauls College of Pharmacy, Hayathnagar, Telangana, India Abstract: The purpose of the present research work was to design, formulate and evaluate the floating tablets of Stavudine, a gastro retentive drug delivery system. Direct compression was used to prepare the tablets using HPMC K4M, HPMC K15M and Carbopol 974(p) as polymers. Formulations were prepared by varying the amount of polymers. The compatibility of drug with the polymers is identified by using FTIR studies. Gastric floating of Stavudine tablets results from effervescence produced by the reaction between sodium bicarbonate and hydrochloric acid in stomach. Twelve formulations of floating tablets were prepared using direct compression technique with polymer such as carbopol974 (p), HPMC grades, Xanthum gum, Guar gum, chitosan in different ratios. The evaluation results revealed that all formulations comply with the specification of official pharmacopoeias and/or standard reference with respect to general appearance, content uniformity, hardness, friability and buoyancy. Out of all the formulation developed, formulation F8 containing of Carbopol showed in vitro drug release of 97.8% upto desired time period of i.e., 24 hours. • 29. Analysis Of The World We Have Lost History is a collection of stories, and stories can often differ from the facts. This is because the past can often be distorted and only show certain aspects deemed important. Historian Peter Laslett is frustrated by this and describes in his paper The World We Have Lost how the pre industrial society has been forgotten. Society has mostly been patriarchal in human history. Each household contained roughly 10 20 people, ran by a male master, housing his wife, children, apprentices, and servants. The group was considered a family and usually worked together producing a singular product as well as maintaining the household. Land owning men ran the world and hired those who were less fortunate. Today however, families now consist of related individuals that live separate lives with separate beliefs. Should patriarchy stay in the past or should it be adopted into modern life? I believe that Laslett s lost world was abandoned for a reason and should stay lost due to the modern ideas of choice, change, and culture. Choice is the best part of today s society. The life I am living today would not be possible in patriarchal society. I am living on my own, attending university a thousand miles away from home in a completely different field of my father. If I was living in the lost world , I would be raised to inherit my father s trade like woodworking, farming, etc. I would not have choice and my life would basically be decided before I was born. • 38. Hegemonic Masculinity In American Culture 1. Hegemonic Masculinity is basically the idea of male dominance. This is important to American Culture because, it helps to explain why males put themselves higher than females. In the American culture it is easy to see that males have more power in the deciding aspects. One of the ways to see this is in the government. If you look at the United States government you would see that the majority of representatives are males. Additionally, if you look at the list of presidents you would see that they have all been males. This goes to show that the male dominance is a real thing in terms of a glance. One of the most common would be insults. If you have a male on a baseball team and the coach tells him he throws like a girl. The coach just told that male that they do not throw well and that they are weak. One of the reason that we get this idea is because society has tried to convince us that females are weak. They do this through branding and media. So when the coach tells the boy that he throws like a girl the coach is really telling the boy that his throw is weak and needs to be stronger to make a difference. Another saying that is used is boys don t cry . This puts into the male culture that men are not supposed to cry or be weak. If you are a male and cry in public you are looked down upon and seem to be not masculine. If a male feels unmasculine they will try to do everything that they can to be more masculine. One of the great places use see this is in college. If you look at a lot of fraternity s hazing rituals you see that most of them are trying to get the men to act more macho and strong. This is to increase their Hegemonic Masculinity. They do this because they have been told from a young age that being emotional and weak are female traits and if you fall into these trait then you are not a real male. And so they go and do these things to fit into what society tells them to do, so that they can be a dominate male in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. A High School Dropout Is Not An Organization INTRODUCTION Each of our habits has a different catalyst and offers a unique payoff. Some are simple and others are complex, drawing upon emotional triggers and offering subtle neurochemical prizes. But every habit, no matter its complexity, is flexible, liable to change. The most addicted alcoholic can become not intoxicated. The most dysfunctional families can transform themselves. A high school dropout can become a very efficacious executive. Changing habits is not just a matter of willpower, despite what you‟ve probably learned. Sure, we all have habits we‟ve tried to break and failed. And good habits we‟ve tried to acquire and dropped. But the real impediment to change for most people is not a lack of determination it‟s a lack of understanding how habit works. As it happens, habits all get modified in somewhat the same way. When an individual successfully quits smoking or an organization changes collective behavior to improve its safety standards, there are certain universal patterns at work. During their extensive studies of the underpinnings of habit in the 1990s, researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology discovered a simple neurological loop at the core of every habit. All habits, it turns out, consist of three parts: a routine, a reward and a cue. The researchers dubbed this the habit loop. As they studied people and organizations that had successfully changed stubborn, pernicious behaviors, they learned that they all followed more or less the same ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

America’s Assistance to the Tibetans Essay America s Assistance to the Tibetans Starting in the late 1940s, with Cold War tensions running high and the subsequent Communist takeover of China as well as the outbreak of the Korean War, there was a growing fear in the United States of the possibility of a global conflict between the Communist bloc and the West. Thus, the US government adopted a policy of doing its best to contain Communism around the world, especially in Asia after the formation of the People s Republic of China (PRC). When the People s Liberation Army (PLA) invaded Tibet in 1950, the US considered it possible or even probable that the PRC would use Tibet as a launching pad to expand Communism into the rest of South and Southeast Asia, an early appearance of what ... In keeping with the historic Chinese conviction(never actually formalized) that Tibet was at the very least a vassal state of China, the Nationalist government took the official stated view that Tibet was an integral part of the Republic of China (Xu 1063). The fact that the KMT believed Tibet to be part of China would be a factor in the US Tibet policy as long as the KMT remained in power in mainland China ( Norbu 264). In fact, if the KMT somehow managed to hold on to power in China in the Civil War against the Communists, the US would have declined to support Tibetan independence. However, by 1948 the KMT s defeat was imminent and the US Ambassador in India recognized the possibility that if the Communists succeed in controlling all of China...we should be prepared to treat Tibet as independent to all intents and purposes (Knaus 55). At this early stage, even with such statements bringing up the issue of recognizing Tibetan independence, the US continued to make an effort to avoid alienating Chiang Kai shek and the KMT (Roberts 2). Lycanthropy is a clinical name given to werewolves in fiction, but is also a medical term referring to someone who is under the influence that they are a wolf (The Brain Bank North West 2012). Some medical theories concerning the origin of werewolves are based around porphyria which is a disease that effects the skin and nervous system, the same disease linked to the vampire myth. Some victims of porphyria display the fang canine look caused by the corrosion of the gums. Furthermore, following exposure to light, the healing blisters on the skin often grow a thin layer of hair (The Brain Bank North West 2012). Wolves are carriers of the lupine parvovirus (LPV), and it is suggested that the virus is responsible for lycanthropy. LPV infected wolves are resistant to environmental trauma, including digestive enzymes, making it much easier to spread through contaminated food and water sources. In this Fourth Circle, once again Dante s use of contrapasso is apparent with the punishment assigned to the greedy. These people have lived a life on Earth that was constantly distinguished by their avarice. Thus, such individuals hoard their wealth in an effort to merely accumulate material goods. Many of the sins mirror the actions on Earth to create a balance. The sinner receive punishment that befits their sin. Dante, speaking from a Christian perspective, upholds that a concept of justice is central to the faith. When the human being sins he commits a transgression, which must be paid for in the afterlife: if there was no punishment, there would be no justice, since every human being, regardless of how they lived their life, would be treated the same. These punishments reflect justice in this sense, and also in the specific sense of how each punishment suits a specific sin. Without punishment, without a sense of justice, it would show a God who essentially does not care how people have lived their lives.
