Treat Tennis Honesty
6 Proven Ways to Treat Tennis Elbow Naturally Tennis elbow is a hard and painful condition of
tendons on the outer side of the arms. It is a kind of inflammation, which is caused by activities
similar to tennis such as forehead swinging and racket gripping, however it might not be the case.
Some tedious movements that really involve twisting elbow or more even when non sport activity like
crocheting or typing also result in causing tennis elbow. Note: Please use natural remedies after proper
research and guidance and don t forget to consult healthcare professional. 1. Ice Packs Put ice pack

Ordovician Silurian Extinction
Corals are 500 million years old, and date back to the late Cambrian period, during the Paleozoic era.
Scientists suggest that they started as simple organisms but evolved into the coral reefs we see today,
due to changes in their environment. It is also known that over the 500 million years, during which
corals are known to have existed, they have gone extinct a number of times. These extinction events
were largely the result of dramatic changes in their environment. About 435 million years ago, the
supercontinent, Pangaea, was beginning to form, and the current of the world s oceans was being
altered by drifting land masses. Sea levels and ocean temperatures dropped significantly due to the
formation of glaciers. This led to the extinction of corals and as much as 60% of all marine life, this
period is called the Ordovician Silurian Extinction Event. Corals came back during the Devonian
period around 410 million years ago and began to form reef systems. These early coral reefs were
composed of stromatoporoids, tabulate corals, rugose corals, and ancestors of the ... Show more

Reefs protect shorelines from currents, waves, and storms, helping to prevent loss of life, property
damage, and erosion. Up to 90 percent of the energy from wind generated waves is absorbed by reefs,
in fact, coastlines protected by reefs are more stable, in terms of erosion, than those without. Reefs are
also a natural source of sand in beach replenishment. Losing the natural reef barrier would have a
large physical and economic impact on coastal communities as well as the millions of people who live
in coastal areas near coral reefs. The health of sensitive coral reef ecosystems depends partly on
sustainable coastal development along the coastlines the reefs protect. A study conducted in 1999
suggests that a 1% loss in coastal ecosystems leads to 1% loss of the value of the

Graffiti As A Form Of Art Essay
Art is an evolutionary act. The shape of art and its role in society is constantly changing. At no point is
art static. There are no rules (Raymond Harmon). In 1966 a man named Cornbread was the first
known person to ever create a piece of art called graffiti and tagging it. Later, people started tagging
subways, and everyone wanted to have their own unique tag. So, they started to become creative and
become different from each other. Now it has evolved over several years and become something
beautiful and eye opening, something that means the world to people without saying a single word.
This something is known as graffiti. An article written by Mark Halsey Alison Young, brings to light
the complex and creative aspects of graffiti ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By doing graffiti children have a way to feel special and connected to the world. Nothing else matters,
not even the fact that they are poor or have a bad family situation. These children need something to
focus on, to take their minds off of the cruel things in life and to focus on the amazing things in life.
Not many pedestrians appreciate graffiti. They think that it is vandalism because it can be done
anywhere from an abandoned office building to a blank wall at a car wash. This is valid, some graffiti
is vandalism, when people start writing foul language and trashing a famous or popular place with this
language. When property has been defaced without permission it is vandalism and citizens come to be
angry, because it costs the community money to clean up the graffiti. that money could be used in
other ways to help the community. Tens of millions of taxpayer dollars are being spent annually on
cleaning up graffiti and repairing the damage that it causes ( Crime ). The community is angry because
the money being spent on cleaning up the graffiti could be spent on other problems that could help the
community. Vandalisms can also be dangerous considering the locations that they are done at. For
instance, the majority of people will vandalize along train tracks and an accident could occur while
being there. Graffiti can also affect the environment and your own health. Because graffiti is done

The War Of North Carolina
While trying to retrieve some nephews from a British prison ship, Andrew s mother also fell ill and
died. An orphan and a hardened veteran at the age of fifteen, Jackson drifted, taught school a little, and
then read law in North Carolina. After admission to the bar in 1787, he accepted an offer to serve as
public prosecutor in the new Meroe District of North Carolina, west of the mountains, with its seat at
Nashville on the Cumberland River. Arriving in 1788, Jackson thrived in the new frontier town. He
built a legal practice, entered into trading ventures, and began to acquire land and slaves. Jackson s
rise in Tennessee politics was meteoric, attesting to his strength of character. In quick succession, he
was a delegate to the state constitutional convention in 1795, then Tennessee s first congressman, then
a senator. He resigned his Senate post after one year to take a job closer to home, as judge of
Tennessee s superior court. In 1802 he challenged Governor John Sevier for election as major general
in command of the state militia. Jackson s senior by more than twenty years, Sevier was a veteran of
the Revolution and of many Indian campaigns, and the state s leading politician. Jackson beat him for
the generalship, but the aftermath brought the two men to a showdown in the streets of Knoxville,
followed by preparations for a duel. Jackson resigned his army commission and was appointed
governor of the new Florida Territory in 1821. He presided over the transfer of

plays the piano you are able to see the arch he maintains while her plays. The arch is located between
his thumb and second finger. While Krystian plays the piano he angles his body away from the piano.
I feel that this affects his sound when he plays the piano. Another thing I noticed while watching
Krystian playing Chopin Ballade was that he swayed his body repeatedly. As he played he lifted his
hand a great distance from the keys. He has his own techniques that he uses. These techniques seem to
be the keys, which give off that soft sound that Zimerman seems to produce as he plays. I m not trying
to criticize Zimerman at all but half the time he seems to focus on displaying a despicable amount of
facial expressions. And seems a bit disconnected with the piece he is

Was The Bombing Of Hiroshima And Nagasaki Ethically...
Was the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki ethically justified? Why Truman decided to drop the
atomic bombs on Japan By Grace Kelsall World War 2 saw the emergence of America as a new world
power on August 6th 1945, also internationally known as the traumatizing day for Hiroshima; after an
American B 29 bomber dropped the world s first atomic bomb. World War Two is considered a great
turning point in modern history, it being one of the bloodiest and horrific wars; exposing all countries
around the world to the nuclear age. Many key events, battles and campaigns have led up to President
Truman s decision, which ultimately brought the surrender of Japan and subsequent end of World War
Two. Nevertheless, the ethical implications of this act are still being debated today. The bombing of
Hiroshima and Nagasaki was ethically justified to a significant extent. Conversely, the motives from
President Truman is evident that he had logical reasoning behind his decision to bomb Japan, however
from a perspective outside America his actions are portrayed as disgusting and inhumane . While the
bombing immensely affected Japan, there were also various factors that have impacted America.
These two perspectives have exhibited to change over time, both showing sympathy towards each
nation; predominantly America, now bringing them even closer together in present day time. Many
significant individuals played a monumental role in the bombing of the populous cities Hiroshima and

Faust By Goethe Research Paper
Faust Romanticism is the belief that poetry is an imitation of life and that feelings and emotion were
more reliable than a scientific thought. During the Romanticism, society in this period focused a lot on
nature and imagination because romanticism had and has no definable standards. The Romantic Period
also had a big interest in finding the truth in everything, especially in unique individuals. Due to the
way they saw the world they valued every individual thing, and the size or color had no matter to

Use Of Penelope s Voice In The Odyssey

Justice
No Truth in Story telling
Margaret Atwood gives voice to Penelope, one of antiquity s most infamous heroines, so that she can
tell her story at last and set the record straight once and for all (Canongate). The quotation printed at
the back of The Penelopiad gives a concise motivation why Margaret Atwood writes the book:
Atwood uses Penelope s voice to tell the readers how she is wronged in Homer s Odyssey. Although
the narrator Penelope dominates the book, the twelve hanged maids also interpose their own opinion
in prose and rhymes. However, it is not hard for the readers to find out that the two perspectives
contradict one another, the maids voice is often used as a counterpoint to Penelope s, when it comes to
why the maids are hanged. Since The Penelopiad is all about Penelope, then why does Atwood
employ the maids voice which causes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the mornings, our eyes darkened by lack of sleep, we d exchange smiles of complicity, and here and
there a quick squeeze of the hand...neither they nor I could take their servile behavior seriously (114 ).
From the vivid description of how close Penelope and the maids are, it can be seen that Penelope does
not only treat the maids with superiority, but also Penelope truly treats and loves the maids as if they
were sisters. Later, according to Penelope, when the suitors come, Penelope assigns the maids to be
her spies by ingratiating themselves with the suitors. When comes the turning point that Penelope
decides to tell the returning, furious Odysseus all about the plan, she is drugged to sleep. It was my
fault! (160). Throughout the whole book, Penelope frequently expresses her sorrow and dismay about
the hanging of the maids. It is as if Penelope herself were a victim in the hanging of the maids, she is
helpless and heartbroken when Odysseus kills her sister like

Freyr Research Paper
The sun has been depicted as a god or an object pulled by a god throughout many mythologies. Most
people may think of Helios, Apollo, or Ra when the term sun god comes up, but in Norse mythology,
there is yet another god of the sun. Frey, who is also known as Freyr, is a god who is considered to be
a god of the sun, among many other things. It can be said that Frey is to the Norsemen what Apollo
was to the Greeks. He was one of the many deities that made up Norse mythology, and also one of the
most interesting.
Frey was the Norse god of the sun, rain, agriculture, fertility, and health, and an important god in the
Norse culture. He was part of the group of gods called the Vanir, a peace loving tribe, and he s also an
honorary member of the other tribe of Norse gods, the Aesir (McCoy). ... Show more content on

He also owned a magical ship, Skidbladnir, which can be folded up and carried in a small bag

Being the god of fertility, he is depicted, logically, with a gigantic phallus (Leeming). As the god of
fertility and agriculture, farmers worshipped him and traveled with an image of Frey in their wagons.
They believed this practice made their crops thrive. Many ancient Scandinavian families claimed to be
descended from Frey because they thought his presence guaranteed a plentiful harvest and peace
(Lindahl). As with most gods in other mythologies, there was a complex family system. Frey had a
twin sister, Freya, with whom he also had a child with. His father was Njord, a sea god, and while it is

Positive Influences of Rock Music
Beneath misconceptions attached to rock music, lies the truth. In a recent unpublished survey, results
showed that the majority of people, a mixture of different age groups and genre listeners, disagree that
rock music has had any positive influences that outweigh the negative (Do). Through lack of
analyzing, many judge rock music without ever knowing the truth about it. Those that do not

The Impact Of Financial Flexibility On A Not For Profit
In 2015, Krishnamurthy Surysekar, Elizabeth Turner, and Clark Wheatley published On the
Association between Donor Imposed Financial Inflexibility and Future Donations to Charitable
Organizations in the Journal of Management Accounting Research. Surysekar, et. al conducted
research to answer the following research question: what is the impact of financial flexibility on a not
for profit (NTP) organization? Surysekar, et. al found that donations and donor imposed restrictions
have a positive association until the donations reach a particular threshold. When the donations reach
the threshold, they decline and diminish. Surysekar, et. al began by gathering information regarding
restricted donations. Often, NFP s expand their activities beyond the organization s mission and skill
set. This can lead to the misuse of funds as well as fraud. Donors impose restrictions to ensure that the
money is used for activities that they value while simultaneously meeting the goals of the organization
(64). Donors can impose restrictions such as the following: 1) the organization may only use the
interest from the donation to meet the goals of the NFP or 2) the donation may only be used for a
particular purpose or program. However, restricted donations may inhibit a NFP s ability to grow (65).
Several studies in the NFP and for profit sector were used to form Surysekar, et. al s hypothesis. The
previous studies found the following: 1) the link between NFP performance and financial

Sleep affects our daily functioning and our physical and mental health. It is characterized by a number
of things such as a reduction on voluntary movement, decreased reaction to external stimuli, an

sleep cycle consists of two types of sleep and five stages. Stages 1 4 are NREM (non rapid eye

When we sleep, important connections are strengthened and unimportant ones are pruned (Ghosh,
2015). Sleep is also an opportunity for the brain to be cleared of any unwanted waste and plays an
important role in memory consolidation. Benington and Heller, researchers at Stanford, stated, Sleep
has therefore evolved as a state in which animals retreat to a safe environment, behavior is suppressed,
and glycogen stores are replenished. Sleep serves as a survival function. Without it, it interferes with
information processing and specifically learning and memory (Nierenberg, 2016). This makes it more
difficult for people to respond to their environment, have motivation to do things, and to recover from

Sleep consolidates memories and enhances learning, when getting the right amount. Sleeping betters
your health by improving your immune system. It can also benefit things such as decreasing pain,
allowing the body to heal, having a better mood, and being a much more clearer thinker (Breus, n.d.).

Censorship In Fahrenheit 451 By Ray Bradbury
After reading Fahrenheit 451, written by Ray Bradbury in high school, I felt I had a good
understanding on how books and reading have an impact on society. Books allow us to broaden our
imagination, our vocabulary and our intellect. Literature can become a source of debate, ideas,
conversations and enjoyment. Bradbury s Fahrenheit 451 depicts how government can censor even the
simplest form of freedom, the enjoyment of reading. Montag, the antagonist, is a fireman trained to
save lives and put out fires, ironically, burns books so people are unable to enjoy the imaginative
world books create. They solely relied on technology for entertainment and opinion, which caused
people to be separated from each other. Bradbury uses the symbolism of censorship to convey how
technology can control society and may lead to an extinction of the human spirit. In the book
Fahrenheit 451, the censorship of books is dictated by the government and carried out by people such

Spinoza s Argument for Substance Monism
Topic: Spinoza s argument for substance monism Baruch Spinoza s The Ethics addresses the nature of
God and his role in the universe, yet his dedication to supported rationality leads him to the
unconventional conclusion that God and the very substance of the universe are one and the same.
Spinoza bases his argument in deductive reasoning, which requires the establishment of premises; in
The Ethics, these premises come in the form of definitions and axioms. God in this context is simply
an absolutely infinite being; it is important to note that Spinoza does not unfoundedly argue that God
has sentience or other properties associated with humans (158). However, God indisputably has
substance, which Spinoza initially defines as something that has independent, necessary conception. A
substance has essence, which forms the fundamentals of its existence; essences are interpreted by the
intellect in the form of attributes. Modes are the ways through which an object presents itself through
being; they are the affections of a substance (158). These definitions allow Spinoza to say that his
conclusions necessarily follow from ideas which are true, making his argument supported entirely by
logic. Spinoza begins his argument with a section devoted to a core group of axioms; it is necessary
that the reader accept these as universally true principles in order for that truth to extend into the rest
of his argument. Axioms 1 and 2 state that something in existence can potentially be in

Blockbuster Competitive Advantage
Blockbuster Entertainment Corporation was a popular movie rental store created Dallas, Texas in 1985
by a computer programmer named David Cook. Cook s experience allowed him to create a program to
track Blockbuster s inventory and consumer preferences. This gave the business the competitive
advantage of tracking customers movie preferences and customizing inventory per location.
Two years later, Wayne Huizenga, founder of Waste Management, and two of his colleagues
purchased interest in the company for 18 million dollars. He knew Blockbuster had huge potential
because it was a one product business that appealed nation wide. Huizenga helped with the expansion
of the company by selling the experience of customers walking into the store ... Show more content on

They had lost too many customers to Netflix and decided to drop their late fee in another attempt to
gain their customers back.
Despite the signs that Blockbuster needed to reevaluate their core competitive strengths, they still
believed that people wanted to buy the experience of walking into a store and buying movies. But with
e service on the rise, consumers were turning to cheaper, more convenient services. Blockbuster tried
to compete with competitors in 2009 by launching movie kiosks and offered customers by mail and
digital distribution channels, but Blockbuster was stuck in its ways with the local stores and company
overhead. By the end of 2010, Blockbuster filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
Profit should be established from customer values. A huge majority of Blockbuster s profit came from
late fees. They had so much overhead costs to keep their building running that when they tried to
compete with Netflix s no late fees , It actually costed them profit and they later had to reinstate the

Cell Theory
1. Cell Theory is an explanation that says everything is made of cells. It continues on to say that those
cells came from preexisting cells. Cell Theory is a theory because it is a frame worked explanation of
an observation made by many biologists like Anar Van Leeuwenhoek. Van Leeuwenoek studied plant
stems, pond water, and gathered a conclusion that generally, all of those things are made of cells.
Other biologists like Louis Pasteur added onto this idea that all organisms are composed of cells. A
theory is also composed of two components; a sequence of patterns in the world and the thing or
catalyst that is responsible for the pattern. The sequence of the pattern in Cell theory is that every
organism in the world are made up of cells. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

3. A salt crystal dropped into a beaker of water becomes smaller and eventually seems to disappear.
However, the same salt crystal remains intact at the bottom of a beaker of octane because Sodium
Chloride is ionic and would get attracted to the water. The octane is hydrophobic and has nothing for
the salt crystal to bond with. The water is polar and hydrophobic, which gives the salt the ability for
the oxygen atoms in the water to be attracted to the Sodium ion, and the hydrogen atoms to the
chloride ion.
4. Molecules with carbon carbon bonds have more potential energy and lower entropy than carbon

bonds are held loosely together, the bond has low entropy, high potential energy, and more usable
energy. The Carbon dioxide is held tightly together, has high entropy, and will have low potential
energy because the charges will be attracted to the oxygen. This results in the carbon dioxide to have

The Church Of England In The Canterbury Tales
During the time period that The Canterbury Tales was written, England went under massive changes
of all kind, specifically religious, political, and medically. The changes of this time inspired many of
the stories and characters as most of them formed their lives around these changes. During this era of
England, the Church of England gained immense amounts of influence, enough to have control over
the King himself. The characters named the Pardoner and the Summoner were both from the church,
or so they pretend. Their stature with the church gave them respect among the other members of the
group heading to Canterbury. The character, the Doctor, took advantage of the sick by telling them that
they need a special medicine that only his friend sells. The plan was that the Doctor would send
people to his friend for a special deal and the Doctor would get a cut of the profit from his friend. As
the church rose to power, they officially had their own military power in forms of knights and squires.
Their influence stretched far and wide, only becoming even larger by the holy wars being fought
throughout Europe. The church turned their knights into crusaders and ordered them to go to places
such as Alexandria, Benamarin, Flanders, and other places around Europe. It was revealed that the
Knight and the Squire were indirectly mentioned as being part of the crusades. It was revealed by how
they were mentioned to have been in those cities at the same time of the crusades.

Karma, Clarity, Superstition, And Reality
Alex Miradoli
COLI 110
19 November, 2015
Essay 2
Karma, Clarity, Superstition, and Reality Karma is a powerful influence on humans, but only when
one gives it the power to be influential. The sum of a person s actions in the past can decide one s fate
in the future; this belief is artificial but impacts our moral decision making nonetheless. Those that
walk the path to light are rewarded, and those that travel the road to darkness are punished. The
acceptance of this value may shape one s actions, but in reality this precedent is simply just a
surrogate to fate. In The Story of the Stone, Cao Xueqin used the theme of karma to illustrate how
characters are highly affected by the superstitions they hold. I believe that generosity and kindness
will trigger fruitful benefits in the future, and that unjust actions will come back to haunt you as well.
However, I do not believe that these paths are set in stone after the initial action. Those that possess
good morals should not be rewarded if they become immoral, and those that commit something unjust
should have the chance to redeem themselves. This theme demonstrates what Marjorie Garber calls
the use of literature as a way of thinking in that characters make decisions due to their belief in this
fabricated guideline. Karma has the power to configure the way we think and act, and its impact on
these characters ultimately prompts the reader to do the same. Those that believe in karma hope that
their generous actions will

Flexibility and Adaptability of Youth Movements
Mohamed chased after his 15 years old brother who secretly escaped to Syria to fight and be hailed a
hero, just as his brother was after fighting in the Libyan revolution. Disbelieving, disappointed and
devalued, Mohamed says it s our fault, we started a revolution and didn t finish it (Olivesi, 2014). His
words sum up the contextual reality of many of the countries affected by the Arab Spring, not only in
terms of the power youth asserted to demand change, but also their diminishing reflection that mirrors
their helplessness throughout transcending societal spheres, as they once again become triumphed by
institutional backwardness, prolonged elitism, corruption and socio economic demands that are yet to
be acknowledged. Even though Samuel Huntington (as cited in Kuhn, 2012) warned policy markers
that too speedy modernization could result in rising expectations, popular anger and violent
revolutions, the Arab Spring was long overdue and even though Egypt, Tunisia and Libya are not
identical cases, their Arabness (Hayes, 2011) united them and garnered the mobilization effort to
challenge the status quo.
Foucault suggests addressing resistance as a chemical catalyst so as to bring light to power relations,
locate their positions and find out their point of application and methods used (780). The Arab Spring
marked a historic event that propelled youth agency and power into the spotlight through media and
the internet as their demands, aspirations and grievances were heard

How Imagination Can Build A Virtual World And Stay Away...
Imagination is widely used for people to work and live. Technological development creates an
opportunity for people to access technology. Indeed, people would prefer to use imagination to create
a virtual world and stay away from the real world. The essay Alone Together written by Sherry Turkle,
argues that technology and imagination would affect the authenticity of life in society. Turkle also
states that as technology developed, it makes humans doubt intimacy, connectivity, authenticity and
solitude. Humans are getting busier which arises their desires to live in an imaginary world. The essay
Bumping Into Mr. Ravioli by Adam Gopnik talks about his daughter s imaginary friend Charlie
Ravioli, who is a reflection of busy New Yorkers. Gopnik finds out that busyness makes people only
focus on their work, thus it makes them avoid intimacy and stay away from authenticity. Both essays
talk about human s reactions of the fake world that is created by imagination. Imagination can build a
better life but the virtual reality is a distraction preventing an authentic life. Imagination is positive for
human development because it fulfills humans needs by creating the virtual world. Everyone has their
own imaginations, and each one of them represent a person s desired goals which are the wishes that
they cannot achieve in the reality. If humans cannot achieve their goals in reality, they choose to
achieve them in the imaginary world. Children create their own imaginary

Essay on The Underdogs by Mariano Azuela
Author Mariano Azuela s novel of the Mexican revolution, The Underdogs, conveys a fictional
representation of the revolution and the effects it had on the Mexican men and women who lived
during that time. The revolutionary rebels were composed of different men grouped together to form
small militias against the Federalists, in turn sending them on journeys to various towns, for long
periods of time. Intense fighting claimed the lives of many, leaving women and children behind to
fend for themselves. Towns were devastated forcing their entire populations to seek refuge elsewhere.

Some revolutionaries were Federalist deserters, who were forced to join the Federalist army. Azuela
refers to a soldier who was abducted from his home in the middle of the night by Federalists, and
woke up a soldier, twenty five miles from his home (26). Luis Cervantes, a medical student in Azuela
s The Underdogs, wrote a piece in favor of the revolution... [and] as a result, they persecuted [him],
caught [him], and finally landed [him] in the barrack as well (22).
The chaotic revolution bread violence and confusion amongst the ill informed population. As a result,
families fled southward in search for a safe haven. Trains were overloaded with people; there was
scarcity of trucks and coaches; hundreds of people, panic stricken, walked along the highroad with
their belongings in a pack slung over their shoulders (Azuela 46). Women, who were left behind while
their husbands fought, were faced with extensive abuse from Federalist soldiers. Young women were
abducted and raped, and at times impregnated. In The Underdogs, soldiers carried away Senora
Nieves little girl (Azuela 19), Fortunata s daughter (Azuela 36), and left Uncle Matias girl, big with
child (Azuela 35). Some women were also forced to work, and take up arms to defend themselves,
with revolvers at their waists, [and] cartridge belts across their breast (Azuela 86).

They connected the Stanford Research Institute, UCLA, UC Santa Barbara, and the University of

scientists to share data and access remote computers, email quickly became the most popular
application. The ARPANET became a high speed digital post office as people use it to collaborate on
research projects and discuss topics of various interests. In 1971 the ARPANET grows to 23 hosts

Obediently and willingly, both Siegfried and Brenda abided by the wishes of Eagle Eye, refraining
from trying to question or argue with him. Therefore, for the rest of the duration, they remained silent.
Continuing with their walk alongside their contact, the two Jackbooters reached the concrete driveway
at front yard of their contact s residence. But just as they were about to make their way to the front
yard s porch, thinking they were going to head inside the house, Eagle Eye suddenly made a swift

inside those footlockers. Well, now we re in a place relatively safe from audible hearing, I think it s
now my turn to uphold my end of the bargain, Eagle Eye said, recalling the agreement he made with
Siegfried and Brenda. He calmly headed toward the footlockers that lay in the middle of the garage,
with the two Jackbooters following him from behind. Not too long after, Eagle Eye then proceeded to
open the two footlockers, revealing its contents. Thus, the contact allowed the two Jackbooters to see
what was inside. Brenda got closer toward the footlocker, thereby allowing her to grab anything that

  • 3. Ordovician Silurian Extinction Corals are 500 million years old, and date back to the late Cambrian period, during the Paleozoic era. Scientists suggest that they started as simple organisms but evolved into the coral reefs we see today, due to changes in their environment. It is also known that over the 500 million years, during which corals are known to have existed, they have gone extinct a number of times. These extinction events were largely the result of dramatic changes in their environment. About 435 million years ago, the supercontinent, Pangaea, was beginning to form, and the current of the world s oceans was being altered by drifting land masses. Sea levels and ocean temperatures dropped significantly due to the formation of glaciers. This led to the extinction of corals and as much as 60% of all marine life, this period is called the Ordovician Silurian Extinction Event. Corals came back during the Devonian period around 410 million years ago and began to form reef systems. These early coral reefs were composed of stromatoporoids, tabulate corals, rugose corals, and ancestors of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Reefs protect shorelines from currents, waves, and storms, helping to prevent loss of life, property damage, and erosion. Up to 90 percent of the energy from wind generated waves is absorbed by reefs, in fact, coastlines protected by reefs are more stable, in terms of erosion, than those without. Reefs are also a natural source of sand in beach replenishment. Losing the natural reef barrier would have a large physical and economic impact on coastal communities as well as the millions of people who live in coastal areas near coral reefs. The health of sensitive coral reef ecosystems depends partly on sustainable coastal development along the coastlines the reefs protect. A study conducted in 1999 suggests that a 1% loss in coastal ecosystems leads to 1% loss of the value of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Graffiti As A Form Of Art Essay Art is an evolutionary act. The shape of art and its role in society is constantly changing. At no point is art static. There are no rules (Raymond Harmon). In 1966 a man named Cornbread was the first known person to ever create a piece of art called graffiti and tagging it. Later, people started tagging subways, and everyone wanted to have their own unique tag. So, they started to become creative and become different from each other. Now it has evolved over several years and become something beautiful and eye opening, something that means the world to people without saying a single word. This something is known as graffiti. An article written by Mark Halsey Alison Young, brings to light the complex and creative aspects of graffiti ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By doing graffiti children have a way to feel special and connected to the world. Nothing else matters, not even the fact that they are poor or have a bad family situation. These children need something to focus on, to take their minds off of the cruel things in life and to focus on the amazing things in life. Not many pedestrians appreciate graffiti. They think that it is vandalism because it can be done anywhere from an abandoned office building to a blank wall at a car wash. This is valid, some graffiti is vandalism, when people start writing foul language and trashing a famous or popular place with this language. When property has been defaced without permission it is vandalism and citizens come to be angry, because it costs the community money to clean up the graffiti. that money could be used in other ways to help the community. Tens of millions of taxpayer dollars are being spent annually on cleaning up graffiti and repairing the damage that it causes ( Crime ). The community is angry because the money being spent on cleaning up the graffiti could be spent on other problems that could help the community. Vandalisms can also be dangerous considering the locations that they are done at. For instance, the majority of people will vandalize along train tracks and an accident could occur while being there. Graffiti can also affect the environment and your own health. Because graffiti is done with spray ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The War Of North Carolina While trying to retrieve some nephews from a British prison ship, Andrew s mother also fell ill and died. An orphan and a hardened veteran at the age of fifteen, Jackson drifted, taught school a little, and then read law in North Carolina. After admission to the bar in 1787, he accepted an offer to serve as public prosecutor in the new Meroe District of North Carolina, west of the mountains, with its seat at Nashville on the Cumberland River. Arriving in 1788, Jackson thrived in the new frontier town. He built a legal practice, entered into trading ventures, and began to acquire land and slaves. Jackson s rise in Tennessee politics was meteoric, attesting to his strength of character. In quick succession, he was a delegate to the state constitutional convention in 1795, then Tennessee s first congressman, then a senator. He resigned his Senate post after one year to take a job closer to home, as judge of Tennessee s superior court. In 1802 he challenged Governor John Sevier for election as major general in command of the state militia. Jackson s senior by more than twenty years, Sevier was a veteran of the Revolution and of many Indian campaigns, and the state s leading politician. Jackson beat him for the generalship, but the aftermath brought the two men to a showdown in the streets of Knoxville, followed by preparations for a duel. Jackson resigned his army commission and was appointed governor of the new Florida Territory in 1821. He presided over the transfer of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While Krystian plays the piano he angles his body away from the piano. I feel that this affects his sound when he plays the piano. Another thing I noticed while watching Krystian playing Chopin Ballade was that he swayed his body repeatedly. As he played he lifted his hand a great distance from the keys. He has his own techniques that he uses. These techniques seem to be the keys, which give off that soft sound that Zimerman seems to produce as he plays. I m not trying to criticize Zimerman at all but half the time he seems to focus on displaying a despicable amount of facial expressions. And seems a bit disconnected with the piece he is ... • 9. Was The Bombing Of Hiroshima And Nagasaki Ethically... Was the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki ethically justified? Why Truman decided to drop the atomic bombs on Japan By Grace Kelsall World War 2 saw the emergence of America as a new world power on August 6th 1945, also internationally known as the traumatizing day for Hiroshima; after an American B 29 bomber dropped the world s first atomic bomb. World War Two is considered a great turning point in modern history, it being one of the bloodiest and horrific wars; exposing all countries around the world to the nuclear age. Many key events, battles and campaigns have led up to President Truman s decision, which ultimately brought the surrender of Japan and subsequent end of World War Two. Nevertheless, the ethical implications of this act are still being debated today. The bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was ethically justified to a significant extent. Conversely, the motives from President Truman is evident that he had logical reasoning behind his decision to bomb Japan, however from a perspective outside America his actions are portrayed as disgusting and inhumane . Use Of Penelope s Voice In The Odyssey Lingyan Xie Justice No Truth in Story telling Margaret Atwood gives voice to Penelope, one of antiquity s most infamous heroines, so that she can tell her story at last and set the record straight once and for all (Canongate). The quotation printed at the back of The Penelopiad gives a concise motivation why Margaret Atwood writes the book: Atwood uses Penelope s voice to tell the readers how she is wronged in Homer s Odyssey. Although the narrator Penelope dominates the book, the twelve hanged maids also interpose their own opinion in prose and rhymes. However, it is not hard for the readers to find out that the two perspectives contradict one another, the maids voice is often used as a counterpoint to Penelope s, when it comes to why the maids are hanged. Books allow us to broaden our imagination, our vocabulary and our intellect. Literature can become a source of debate, ideas, conversations and enjoyment. • 21. Spinoza s Argument for Substance Monism Topic: Spinoza s argument for substance monism Baruch Spinoza s The Ethics addresses the nature of God and his role in the universe, yet his dedication to supported rationality leads him to the unconventional conclusion that God and the very substance of the universe are one and the same. Spinoza bases his argument in deductive reasoning, which requires the establishment of premises; in The Ethics, these premises come in the form of definitions and axioms. God in this context is simply an absolutely infinite being; it is important to note that Spinoza does not unfoundedly argue that God has sentience or other properties associated with humans (158). However, God indisputably has substance, which Spinoza initially defines as something that has independent, necessary conception. A substance has essence, which forms the fundamentals of its existence; essences are interpreted by the intellect in the form of attributes. Modes are the ways through which an object presents itself through being; they are the affections of a substance (158). These definitions allow Spinoza to say that his conclusions necessarily follow from ideas which are true, making his argument supported entirely by logic. The Church Of England In The Canterbury Tales During the time period that The Canterbury Tales was written, England went under massive changes of all kind, specifically religious, political, and medically. The changes of this time inspired many of the stories and characters as most of them formed their lives around these changes. During this era of England, the Church of England gained immense amounts of influence, enough to have control over the King himself. The characters named the Pardoner and the Summoner were both from the church, or so they pretend. Their stature with the church gave them respect among the other members of the group heading to Canterbury. The character, the Doctor, took advantage of the sick by telling them that they need a special medicine that only his friend sells. The plan was that the Doctor would send people to his friend for a special deal and the Doctor would get a cut of the profit from his friend. As the church rose to power, they officially had their own military power in forms of knights and squires. Their influence stretched far and wide, only becoming even larger by the holy wars being fought throughout Europe. • 28. Karma, Clarity, Superstition, And Reality Alex Miradoli COLI 110 19 November, 2015 Essay 2 Karma, Clarity, Superstition, and Reality Karma is a powerful influence on humans, but only when one gives it the power to be influential. The sum of a person s actions in the past can decide one s fate in the future; this belief is artificial but impacts our moral decision making nonetheless. Those that walk the path to light are rewarded, and those that travel the road to darkness are punished. The acceptance of this value may shape one s actions, but in reality this precedent is simply just a surrogate to fate. In The Story of the Stone, Cao Xueqin used the theme of karma to illustrate how characters are highly affected by the superstitions they hold. I believe that generosity and kindness will trigger fruitful benefits in the future, and that unjust actions will come back to haunt you as well. However, I do not believe that these paths are set in stone after the initial action. Those that possess good morals should not be rewarded if they become immoral, and those that commit something unjust should have the chance to redeem themselves. This theme demonstrates what Marjorie Garber calls the use of literature as a way of thinking in that characters make decisions due to their belief in this fabricated guideline. Karma has the power to configure the way we think and act, and its impact on these characters ultimately prompts the reader to do the same. His words sum up the contextual reality of many of the countries affected by the Arab Spring, not only in terms of the power youth asserted to demand change, but also their diminishing reflection that mirrors their helplessness throughout transcending societal spheres, as they once again become triumphed by institutional backwardness, prolonged elitism, corruption and socio economic demands that are yet to be acknowledged. Even though Samuel Huntington (as cited in Kuhn, 2012) warned policy markers that too speedy modernization could result in rising expectations, popular anger and violent revolutions, the Arab Spring was long overdue and even though Egypt, Tunisia and Libya are not identical cases, their Arabness (Hayes, 2011) united them and garnered the mobilization effort to challenge the status quo. Foucault suggests addressing resistance as a chemical catalyst so as to bring light to power relations, locate their positions and find out their point of application and methods used (780). The Arab Spring marked a historic event that propelled youth agency and power into the spotlight through media and the internet as their demands, aspirations and grievances were heard ... • 30. How Imagination Can Build A Virtual World And Stay Away... Imagination is widely used for people to work and live. Technological development creates an opportunity for people to access technology. Indeed, people would prefer to use imagination to create a virtual world and stay away from the real world. The essay Alone Together written by Sherry Turkle, argues that technology and imagination would affect the authenticity of life in society. Turkle also states that as technology developed, it makes humans doubt intimacy, connectivity, authenticity and solitude. Humans are getting busier which arises their desires to live in an imaginary world. The essay Bumping Into Mr. Ravioli by Adam Gopnik talks about his daughter s imaginary friend Charlie Ravioli, who is a reflection of busy New Yorkers. Gopnik finds out that busyness makes people only focus on their work, thus it makes them avoid intimacy and stay away from authenticity. Both essays talk about human s reactions of the fake world that is created by imagination. Imagination can build a better life but the virtual reality is a distraction preventing an authentic life. Imagination is positive for human development because it fulfills humans needs by creating the virtual world. Everyone has their own imaginations, and each one of them represent a person s desired goals which are the wishes that they cannot achieve in the reality. If humans cannot achieve their goals in reality, they choose to achieve them in the imaginary world. Children create their own imaginary ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Essay on The Underdogs by Mariano Azuela Author Mariano Azuela s novel of the Mexican revolution, The Underdogs, conveys a fictional representation of the revolution and the effects it had on the Mexican men and women who lived during that time. The revolutionary rebels were composed of different men grouped together to form small militias against the Federalists, in turn sending them on journeys to various towns, for long periods of time. Intense fighting claimed the lives of many, leaving women and children behind to fend for themselves. Towns were devastated forcing their entire populations to seek refuge elsewhere. The revolution destroyed families across Mexico, leaving mothers grieving for their abducted daughters, wives for their absent husbands, and soldiers for their ... Azuela refers to a soldier who was abducted from his home in the middle of the night by Federalists, and woke up a soldier, twenty five miles from his home (26). Luis Cervantes, a medical student in Azuela s The Underdogs, wrote a piece in favor of the revolution... [and] as a result, they persecuted [him], caught [him], and finally landed [him] in the barrack as well (22). The chaotic revolution bread violence and confusion amongst the ill informed population. As a result, families fled southward in search for a safe haven. Trains were overloaded with people; there was scarcity of trucks and coaches; hundreds of people, panic stricken, walked along the highroad with their belongings in a pack slung over their shoulders (Azuela 46). Women, who were left behind while their husbands fought, were faced with extensive abuse from Federalist soldiers. Young women were abducted and raped, and at times impregnated. In The Underdogs, soldiers carried away Senora Nieves little girl (Azuela 19), Fortunata s daughter (Azuela 36), and left Uncle Matias girl, big with child (Azuela 35). Some women were also forced to work, and take up arms to defend themselves, with revolvers at their waists, [and] cartridge belts across their breast (Azuela 86). Under the leadership of the Department of Defense s Advanced Research Project Agency, it grows from a paper architecture into a small network (ARPANET) meant to promote the sharing of super computers amongst researchers in the United States. (Kristula, pg 68). Through the next couple years there were talks of about how this network could come into the cooperate world. In 1969 researchers at four US campuses created the first hosts of the ARPANET. They connected the Stanford Research Institute, UCLA, UC Santa Barbara, and the University of Utah. The ARPANET was a success from the very beginning. Although originally designed to allow scientists to share data and access remote computers, email quickly became the most popular application. The ARPANET became a high speed digital post office as people use it to collaborate on research projects and discuss topics of various interests. In 1971 the ARPANET grows to 23 hosts connecting universities and government research centers around the country. In 1972, the Inter Networking Working Group becomes

  • 35. Analysis Of Siegfried And Brenda Abided By The Wishes Of... Obediently and willingly, both Siegfried and Brenda abided by the wishes of Eagle Eye, refraining from trying to question or argue with him. Therefore, for the rest of the duration, they remained silent. Continuing with their walk alongside their contact, the two Jackbooters reached the concrete driveway at front yard of their contact s residence. But just as they were about to make their way to the front yard s porch, thinking they were going to head inside the house, Eagle Eye suddenly made a swift divergence in direction. Rather than heading to the front door, the contact went to the garage door at the side of the house s garage area. He gestured at the two Jackbooters to as always follow his lead, without muttering even a single word. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They appear to be big to store clothing and other sizeable personal effects. Looking at it made Siegfried and Brenda wonder what is inside those footlockers. Well, now we re in a place relatively safe from audible hearing, I think it s now my turn to uphold my end of the bargain, Eagle Eye said, recalling the agreement he made with Siegfried and Brenda. He calmly headed toward the footlockers that lay in the middle of the garage, with the two Jackbooters following him from behind. Not too long after, Eagle Eye then proceeded to open the two footlockers, revealing its contents. Thus, the contact allowed the two Jackbooters to see what was inside. Brenda got closer toward the footlocker, thereby allowing her to grab anything that was inside. While kneeling on her right knee, she pulled out what appeared to be the male and female uniforms of the Catholic high school Eagle Eye attended, from one of the two footlockers, she took a brief glance a better view at what was inside the other one. It turned out that there were some very enticing foodstuffs and other items that were highly sought after by both the factions of Brotzmanskrieg and the Jackbooters of the Plaid Prohibition. These determinants are affected either negatively or positively by health policy. Whether the government means to or not, policies can enable some alarming disparities in health. Such disparities is the lack of social services such as sickness benefits, medical services for the elderly, better disease preventive care, and others. Many policies do not address some of the health determinants which determine the health outcome of a particular population. Not all policies affect negatively, such as higher tax on tobacco.
