shore, and 20-25 knots with an 8 foot swell in the open ocean.
The Sailing Conditions
The water temperature
is consistent all year
round (48-52 degrees
Fahrenheit, 9-11 Celsius)
and the air temperature
for April will be
approximately 46-70

5. SCYC was recently renovated – there are new changing
rooms and a full bar.
There are two ramps and a large dry storage area to keep
the boats in.
Car parking is also ample.
SCYC has hosted many World and North American
Championships (including the 1986 Contender Worlds,
2004 505 Worlds, and 2012 Flying Dutchmen Worlds; 2013
Laser, Moore24, Santa Cruz 27, and Wylie Wabbit National
Championships), and it will host the 2014 505 NAs.
Santa Cruz Yacht Club
6. Santa Cruz is a vacation destination for many
Californians. But April is still the off season so it will be
easy to find reasonable accommodation.
Santa Cruz is also home to the University of California,
Santa Cruz, so the city has a good mix of vacationers
and, locals, and students (meaning cheap bars).
International travelers should fly in to San Francisco
International (SFO), or if you have an intermediate
stop in the USA you may be to fly to San Jose
International (SJC) which is a half hour drive to SCYC.
