A Trip To Alaska Personal Narrative
Chris here. I m sorry for leaving you there with dad and mom. I have had a great time getting my way
to Alaska. I have met some really outstanding people. As I was camping along the badlands abutting
the Salton Sea, not so far from a gathering of aging hippies, nudists, and snowbirds set up in an area
they call Oh My God Hot Springs. While I was hitchhiking into town for food and water, I met Ronald
Franz, a retired army veteran who once had a drinking problem. Of course he tried to persuade me to
leave the encampment, he said it was a bad influence. He took me to San Diego, where I lived for a
little while before leaving to Seattle. I ended up back in California so I decided to call Ron. He bought
me a meal at a local steak house, I stayed

August Wilson Fences
Sometimes you have to pick the gun up to put the gun down. This quote was said by Malcolm X, who
was an African American Minister and a human rights activist. It means that sometimes you have to
fight in order to achieve peace. I agree with what he said because in order to get what you want you
have to fight for it. Two literary works that reflect this quote are Fences, a play about the struggles of
African American before and during the Civil Rights Era in the 1950s and 60s, by August Wilson and
The Yellow Wallpaper a short story that shows the difference between women and men during that
time, by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. Fences shows the revolution the characters face, their actions and
what is the result of those choices. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The lack of acknowledgment in the play Fences between Troy and Cory cause their relationship to
decline even further. One of the greatest sources of disappointment in Troy s life is the fact that he
wasn t allowed to play pro baseball, Even though he used to hit homeruns in the Negro Leagues, he
couldn t go to the majors because of racial discrimination. He doesn t let Cory play football, because
he doesn t want Cory to feel what he felt during his time. Troy s lack of acknowledgment of Cory s
potential destroys Cory s dream by not signing the papers and not letting the college recruiter from
coming. I got sense enough not to let my boy get hurt playing no sports (Wilson 39) He unconsciously
stats that he doesn t want Cory to feel how he felt during his time. This quote references flashback
because in this quote Troy refers back to what had happened to him during his athletic career, and how
it affected his life. In this quote he speaks like a father who is making decisions for his son and his
future, even though the people around him is telling him that the time has changed and it is not like
before. Troy s lack of acknowledgment causes Cory to lose his dream and late Cory to leave the
house.
In the play Fences, Troy s demand for change caused him to revolt against the company. Even after
the abolishment of slavery the blacks were not treated equally nor had any

Descriptive Essay On Gospel Music
As I entered Chrysler Hall I instantly became nervous. Shamefully Mann s World Concert and
Comedy Show will be the first live gospel performance I have ever attended. I didn t know what to
expect. I m not as savvy in the gospel genre as I should be. The only songs that I have heard the Mann
family perform were the songs they performed with Kirk Franklin and the Family and the popular
ones that play on the radio. I glanced around the auditorium and it appeared to a full house. The
audience had several nationalities ready to enjoy a night of gospel music. There was a deejay table off
to the side entertaining the crowd as everyone arrived at their seats. The stage had band instruments
towards the back of the stage with a deejay table in front of them. The lights were beautiful; they
displayed various scenes and sceneries throughout the show. First to arrive on stage was David Mann
Jr. He walked out and headed towards the deejay tables that were center stage. His energy and music
selections pumped the crowd up and had everyone ready to party. The lights on the stage had a party
appearance and holograms of a dancer. As the lights begin to flash a different color I anxiously waited
for the next song to start. He played all the family reunion and cookout party hits such as The
Emotions Best of My Love, Carl Carlton s She s a Bad Mama Jama, Cheryl Lynn s Got to be Real,
Curtis Blow s These are the Breaks, Cameo s Candy, Maze and Frankie Beverly s Before I

What Are Your Recommendations For Using Fossil Fuels And...
1. What are your recommendations for using fossil fuels and renewable energy sources?
The United States currently uses approximately one quarter of the world s total energy consumption
(Toossi). With around 322 million people inhabiting the United States, our population accounts for
just fewer than 5% of the total world population. That means that our 5% of the world s population is
using 25% of the world s energy! Something has to be done. To begin to understand why, we need to
break down our energy demands: 37% petroleum (used mostly for transportation), 25% natural gas
(spread out evenly between industrial, residential, commercial, and electricity generation), 21% coal
(mostly going towards electricity generation), 8% renewable energies (the majority of which is used
for electricity generation) and 9% nuclear electric power (100% of which is used to produce
electricity) (Toossi). Our main problem is our incredible need for fast cars and big trucks. If we as a
nation could come together to incentivize the use of public transportation over personal transportation
our petroleum use would decrease greatly. The burning of coal is also a huge problem in the United
States. It is a fossil fuel which is incredibly unclean and is a big culprit in the global warming issue we
see today. My energy policy would incentivize the use of nuclear energy which is a much cleaner
technology and has become increasingly safe in recent years. Only 9% of our energy is generated from

Preparation of Alum from Aluminum Metal Essay example
LABORATORY REPORT 4 PREPARATION OF ALUM FROM ALUMINUM METAL Huy Nguyen
October 2nd, 2012 The objective of the laboratory is to synthesize alum (KAl(SO4)2.xH2O) from
aluminum powder and to determine the proportion of water in the alum crystals. Alum is a product
from the reaction between potassium hydroxide and sulfuric acid. The reaction include several steps,
as followed: Aluminum powder reacts with potassium hydroxide to generate Al(OH)4 ions and release
hydrogen. 2 Al(s) + 2 KOH(aq) + 6 H2O 2 K[Al(OH)4](aq) + 3 H2 (g) A gelatinous precipitate of
aluminum hydroxide was created when sulfuric acid was added to the aqueous solution of Al(OH)4
ions. 2 K[Al(OH)4](aq) + H2SO4 (aq) 2 Al(OH)3 (s) + K2SO4 (aq) + 2 H2O ... Show more content

The crystals were heated at maximum heat for 5 minutes. The crucibles were placed back to the
desiccator. After cooling to room temperature, the masses of the contents inside the crucibles were
carefully weighed. Results The masses of alum, KAl(SO4)2 and water recorded were given in Table I.
Table I. Masses of Alum, KAl(SO4)2 and water in two different crucibles. | Crucible 1 | Crucible 2 |
Alum | 0.5000 g | 0.5000 g | KAl(SO4)2 | 0.2721 g | 0.2696 g | H2O | 0.2279 g | 0.2304 g | x=
nwaterndry product | 12.00 | 12.24 | According to the values of x obtained from the table above, the
average result of x is 12.12. We can define the formula of alum as KAl(SO4)2.12,12H2O (Molar Mass
M = 476.16 gmol 1). Finding the formula of alum makes it possible to calculate the theoretical yield
and the percent yield of alum. After calculations from the equations demonstrated in the introduction,
the theoretical number of moles of alum would be 0.019 moles. The theoretical yield, as a result,
would be mtheoretical = 9.69 g. The actual yield recorded after the laboratory was 4.77 g. Combining
all the yields gives us the final result of the percent yield: 52,71%. Discussion Several steps of heating
the alum crystals and calculations took place to find out the formula of alum. Concerning the first
crucible, an amount of 0.5 g of alum was added to the crucible. After

REVIEW OF LITERATURE:
Sugar is a highly concentrated in sugar cane sugar beets. Sugar is mainly used to sweeten food and to
prevent micro organisms from growing and spoiling food. Salt is a mineral composed of sodium
chloride. Its a crystallized mineral from rock salt and halite. Salts main usage is for cooking, cleaning,
and many health uses. While doing this project we discovered that 99.95 % of sugar is pure sucrose.
Although salt is used for cooking it is also used for cleaning. The ocean has 35grams of salt per liter
which equals salinity of 3.5% We started this project to see the crystal formation of sugar and ... Show

Then you add sugar into one pot and salt into the other pot. Don t forget to add the same amount of
sugar and salt into the pots. When they are finally dissolved you add the salt water to one container
and the sugar water to its own container but make sure you don t fill it up all the way leave 1in. Then
you let it sit until it is warm. Next you stick a stick into the jars without the stick touching the bottom.
Mix it. Then you put the cover on with the stick through the cover then clip it with the clothespin so
the stick does not move. Then you put it on the side and let it sit where it will not be hit. Check it daily
until it is fully formed. Mark down observations.
RESULTS:
The end result of our project was that the salt formed a crystal before sugar did. On day seven the
crystal formation was 2 ½ inches for salt. For sugar it took ten days until it reached 2 ½ inches.
Although the crystals did not form on the stick because we messed up it formed around the container
therefore that is how we measured the growth.

Amylase Temperature
This experiment was performed to demonstrate how varying temperatures affects the activity of the
enzyme, amylase. Also, it was conducted to determine the optimal temperature for the fungal,
Aspergillus oryzae, and bacterial amylases by placing them both into different test tubes with differing
temperature conditions. At varying time intervals, both enzymes were removed from their assigned
temperatures. A drop of each enzyme will then be placed on two different spot plates with a pipette.
All the wells on the spot plates contain three drops of iodine to clearly show whether a reaction has
taken place. The pipette was used to mix the iodine with the starch enzyme to organize the levels of
starch catabolism based on temperature. At the end of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Amylase is the enzyme that catabolizes starch polymers into maltose which is a saccharide, or sugar,
used as a food source and to store energy. In addition, both starch and amylase are essential in the
commercial production of syrups, other food products and brewing processes (Alberte, Pitzer, Calero,
2012). Although, it is important to know the optimal temperatures of both enzymes, it is also
important to know that this is not the only factors that affects the activity of the enzymes. Substrate
concentration, salt concentration, and pH level are affect enzymatic activity. The presence of
inhibitors, or molecules that bind to an enzyme decrease its activity, while activators increase
enzymatic activity. If the temperature of an enzyme is greater than the optimal temperature, the active
site of that enzyme denatures. In other words, it changes shape, which will prevent substrate binding.
Without the substrate binding, the enzyme will not be able to carry out its normal functions and this
can lead to a deficiency of an enzyme. In this case, if there were insufficient amylase in human body,
it can cause cystic fibrosis, celiac disease, or Crohn s

The Community Organizing Self Reflection Essay
Community Organizing Self Reflection
Experiences
My interest in community organizing and building began with the passion and knowledge for the well
being of others my father instilled in my life. My father was the late Chief Elmer Manatowa Jr of the
Sac and Fox Nation, Native Tribe of Oklahoma. I have been an active Governing Council member (all
adult members) of my Tribe for many years. I landed my first real job, Planning Department secretary,
after taking a business course at the local technical .school. In that position, I had the opportunity to
attend a Tribal Sovereignty Symposium organized by the Federal, State, and Tribal organizations. This
was my first taste of community organizing and community building. It was the fourth symposium of
its kind. The topics included Indian law, environmental issues, law enforcement, juvenile justice, arts,
taxation, spirituality, preservation, state compacts, and Tribal immunity. There were two Senate Bills,
299 and 667. Bill 299 allowed certain protections for protecting land royalties and mineral rights. The
protections included oil and mineral operator s exclusion from drilling on individually owned Indian
Country lands. Bill 667 referred to the health and human service regarding Indians.
When my father died, I stepped up my participation in order to fill in the gap left without his presence.
I have been advocating for social change the Tribal government level by actively listening to the

Summary Of Electroencephalogram (EEG)
Stage 1 is the Electroencephalogram (EEG). The EEG provides a summary of electro activity from a
certain area of the brain. The EEG is also the sum of the electrical activity of all neurons between the
two recording electrodes (Garrett,2015). Stage 1 is when one is feeling drowsy and transitioning into a
state of sleep (Thien Thanh Dang Vu, 2017). Stage 2 is the K complex. These are sharp waves that
happen at least once a minute. This stage characterizes the first stage of sleep. Stage 2 has an
appearance of spindles (Thien Thanh Dang Vu, 2017). Where the waves have a gating function that
help to prevent the unsettling stimuli from reaching the cortex part of the brain that will in turn

Essay about Martha Graham
Martha Graham
Generation after generation, in different countries of the world there has always been different styles
of body expression. Dance is a special form of art which movement of the body creates. One of the
most delicate types of dance, which evokes emotion, is ballet. For Martha Graham, ballet was not only
a dance: it was a way to express a fear or happiness with gestures created by the body. Graham was
recognized as having made revolutionary changes in dance: in form, subject matter, in the analysis and
examination of her themes. She was an influential American dancer, teacher, and choreographer of
modern dance. Graham gave modern dance a new depth and forceful expression of emotion. Dr.
Graham s technique is very ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Martha knew that practice was the basis and therefore, a fundamental for a good dancer. Graham s
intense belief in practice aided in forming such a unique technique. To practice means to perform, in
the face of all obstacles, some act of vision, of faith, of desire, Practice is a mean of inviting the
perfection desired. It is said that Martha worked on her falls for fifty years, and they grew more
beautiful and complex each time she performed them. This technique is not the only one she worked
to perfection. Graham was born in Allegheny, Pennsylvania, on May 11, 1894. She was the oldest of
three daughters. She also had a brother named William Henry Graham; he died of scarlet fever at
eighteen months. This was devastating for the family especially for Martha s father. He always wanted
a son; once they were blessed with one he was no sooner taking away from them. Her family settled in
Santa Barbara, California in 1908. This is where Martha discovered the rhythm of the sea, and her
love for art began. Throughout her career, her choreography demonstrates this influence. Her
professional career began in 1916 at the Denishawn School in Los Angeles. The pioneers of modern
dance Ruth St. Denis and Ted Shawn founded this school of dance. Denishawn was the first in
America, to explore all of folk, classical, experimental, oriental, and American. It is here where;

Gender Impact On Class And Gender
Effect of Class and Gender Do class and gender affect how individuals act or behave? Society has
evolved throughout the years and with that evolution, the people have separated themselves by factors
such as class and gender. This separation started many centuries ago and made a large appearance in
the Great Depression and Civil Rights Movement. Along with this division of people, actions and
behaviors seem to have been paired with certain classifications of people. In prior eras, women were
seen as fragile and not earners due to needing to stay at home and take care of children. On the
contrary, men were seen as masculine and earned a decent amount of money from working all day
long. Even though genders evolved into how they are now with women working alongside men, the
separation is still visible. Women are still fighting to get paid the same amount as men, resulting in a
certain behavior based on the gender. This behavior is one where women try to get equal pay through
comparable worth instead of just staying quiet like women used to. The factors of class and gender
cause a difference in an individual s actions and behavior in the ways of not socializing with certain
types of people, creating stereotypes, and behaving in a way to fit the norms of the specific class or
gender. There are many different articles written that can help describe how socialization, generalized
ideas, and standards cause individuals in different genders and classes to act in a certain way. A few of
the most important are Post Princess Models of Gender: The New Man in Disney/Pixar by Gillam and
Wooden, Seeing and Making Culture: Representing the Poor by hooks, and Girls Bodies, Girls Selves:
Body Image, Identity, and Sexuality by Lipkin. All of these articles have aspects that point towards the
fact that different reason cause individuals to perform their everyday activities in a certain way. Gillam
and Wooden explain in their article that new films produced by Disney and Pixar have changed the
idea of masculinity from one of the past to one that accepts the more traditional femininity. Hooks
article portrays how she personally was told she was unable to go to college because of her poverty
level and when she did go to

Global Climate Change Causes And Effects On The...
What do you know about global climate change? Do you think we create this problem in the twentieth
first century to damage our planet. This problem started at the beginning of civilization and became
worse during the Industrial Revolution of the eighteenth century. Older generations generated more
carbon dioxide into the atmosphere due to the burning of fossil fuel and deforestation. More carbon
dioxide had a negative impact on the ecosystems of the planet. And the scientific definition of global
climate represents changes in the earth s weather and temperature. When higher greenhouse gas
concentrates in the atmosphere, the earth becomes warmer. Water vapor, carbon dioxide, and methane
are the gases that lead to the greenhouse effect. Pollution of the earth causes damage to the ozone
layer in the atmosphere, and it s easy for the sun rays to pass in the earth. Global climate change
causes a negative impact on the environment and the world s oceans. Global climate change causes
many problems for the planet. The population growth of earth is 7.125 billion. Can anybody imagine
how much greenhouse gas we produce in the atmosphere? Because they re more people on the earth,
we need more natural resources in daily life. People destroy more natural resources like trees to live.
Human beings produce more man made pollution on the land and the ocean environments. For
example, coal powered plants, automobiles, and industrial facilities make a higher percent of carbon

Characterization of Rachel Through the Use of Literary...
Characterization of Rachel Through the Use of Literary Techniques in Cisneros Eleven
Sandra Cisneros writes a memoir through the eyes of an eleven year old. Turning eleven happens to be
a tragic day for the main character, Rachel. Through various literary techniques such as hyperbole,
simile, and syntax, Rachel is characterized. Rachel is a fresh turning eleven year old who finds herself
in an awful situation on her birthday. Forced to wear a raggedy old sweater that doesn t belong to her,
she makes it defiantly clear her feelings towards the clothing item, and we see this through use of
hyperboles. Rachel describes the sweater as ugly and too stretched out like you could use it for a jump
rope. This extreme exaggeration demonstrates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This inner defiance gives evidence to Rachel s determination and individuality. The sweater now
represents a sort of barrier and if she submits herself to it, she fears the world of ages and maturity.
The inner battle continues through use of similes and syntax patterns. Cisneros brilliantly weaves a
series of vivid metaphors that of an eleven year old to further portray Rachel s character. Today I wish
I didn t have only eleven years rattling inside me like pennies in a tin band aid box. This simile
characterizes Rachel as not only a child but also portrays her desire to be older. The image evokes a
childish habit of collecting pennies in a tin box, a juvenile form of a most precious piggy bank. But in
addition to labeling Rachel s age, it also hints at her feelings of wanting out. Rachel feels trapped by
her ripe young age of eleven because she feels as if she doesn t have the years behind her to justify her
non acceptance of the sweater. Afraid to say no and stand up for herself, Rachel unwillingly has to
take the sweater, which smells like cottage cheese and hangs over the edge of her desk like a waterfall.
Again, we see glances into Rachel s mind and how she envisions the dreadful sweater. The images
allow us to see into an eleven year old s thoughts and see how the situation looks from a child s eyes.
Telling it like it is, as Rachel seems to do quite often, she describes the smell as cottage cheese, a

The Negative Use Of Steroids In Sports
Steroids has been one of the most controversial substances when it comes to usage. In basic chemistry,
steroids are made up of several compounds that are vital for the human body; such as cholesterol and
hormones. The negative effects of steroids include heart risk such as heart attacks or strokes. Steroids
has been commonly used in bodybuilding to give competitors the necessary energy to perform and
look better. However, bodybuilders would eventually suffer the aftermath of the use of steroids. In the
peak of the steroid era in baseball, there was a plethora of athletes who used steroids such as
performance enhancing drugs and human growth hormones as ways to accelerate their recovery and
maximize their performances. Along with the negative effects of steroids, there are also many positive
effects when it comes to steroid use. Steroids could be used to treat inflammation and speed up
recovery. Most doctors believe that the use of steroids in a hospital would be vital in the survival of
patients. Overall, the usage of steroids is a double edged sword that should require attention and due
diligence.
Topic Paper
Ranging from medication to performance enhancement for sports, steroids have supported both
athletic use as well as medical use. Pertaining to the controversy of steroids, there are many side
effects that raises huge concerns. Many premature deaths are due to the results of using steroids. In

The Destruction Of The Caledonian Forest
Large sections of Scotland were home to the temperate rainforest called the Caledonian Forest. The
forests name was derived from the Romans who referred to Scotland as Caledonia , meaning wooded
heights in Latin (Woodland Restoration in Scotland. 2008 October 05). The dominant species of the
Caledonian Forests is the Scot pine. Unfortunately, climate changes over centuries have caused the
forest to diminish. The destruction of the forests for building materials, charcoal and other resources
required the people of the British Isle to use stone and move to other areas to find natural resources.
Today only 10% of the United Kingdom is forest (United Kingdom. 2014, March 07). The Caledonian
Forest is a unique ecosystem of the British Isles

Pakistan s Economic Performance oer the Last 20 Years
Pakistan s economic performance over the last 20 years
Introduction
PAKISTAN S RECENT HISTORY
In the last 20 years, Pakistan has oscillated between 3 personalities Benazir Bhutto, Nawaz Sharif, and
Gen. (retd.) Pervez Musharraf. The current President, Asif Zardari, it can be argued, is in power
mainly because he was the husband of the late Benazir Bhutto, although he has come into his own
over the last two years.
Benazir and Sharif were both Prime Minister for two terms each, with each ending the other s term,
citing incompetency and unfitness to rule. In October 1999, General Pervez Musharraf seized control
of the country and the focus of power in Pakistan shifted towards the President. In 2008, he resigned
after pressure from the newly elected government of the PPP the legacy of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto,
Benazir Bhutto and now her husband, Asif Zardari.
While the political turmoil and uncertainty of the last two decades has left the public with weakened
wills and a spiteful distrust of politicians, the country as a whole moves ever on. The purpose of this
report is to examine the progress (or in some cases deterioration) of various indicators of economic
health; and in the limited understanding of the authors, present a view of why the particular trend is
seen.
INDICATORS WHAT WHY
Economic indicators are important statistics one can use to measure the economy, and in a sense get
an overview of the current state of progress or regress, whichever may be the case. There

John Irving’s The Cider House Rules Essay
John Irving s The Cider House Rules
Contemporary society advocates that without love, happiness is impossible. Webester s Dictionary
defines happiness as, a state of well being or contentment. Three types of love which are necessary for
contentment are; familial love, romantic love and friendship. In John Irving s, The Cider House Rules,
Melony s bitterness prevents her from developing these forms of love vital for true happiness. Her
hostility towards others prevents her from developing familial love. Intense animosity and contempt
ruin Melony s romantic relationships. Her bitterness leads to social isolation and the development of
true friendships become impossible.

Like Mrs.Grogan many of the foster parents extend affectionate and loving gestures towards Melony
but are denied an appropriate response. Melony, had several unfortunate experiences in foster homes .
. . Melony had run away from the second and third foster families, alleging that the men in the
families, either fathers or brothers, had taken a sexual interest in her . . . In case number six: the
husband had died of a heart attack shortly after Melony s arrival, and the wife had sent the girl back to
St.Clouds, .
Melony responds to the foster families efforts with viscous abuse. The attitude and hatred she
continually exhibits prevents her from experiencing familial love with the foster families but ruins the
family relationships she is introduced into as well. Melony s bitterness and consequent lack of familial
love will hinder her development of future relationships, ultimately ruin her chances of true happiness.
The relationships within a person s family influence the romantic experiences throughout his/her
lifetime. Romance further satisfies an individual s need for love and belonging. Melony s ongoing
bitterness towards others ruins her romantic relationships.
She experiences few romantic encounters throughout her lifetime, achieving a substandard level of
satisfaction. Melony s first significant romantic relationship is with Homer Wells, and orphan at

Write a balanced equation for the synthesis reaction that occurred. The balanced equation for the
synthesis reaction that occurred in experiment 1 is: 2Mg + O2 → 2MgO. Experiment 2 1. A hydrate is
a chemical compound that has water molecules bound loosely to it by electrostatic forces. When the
hydrated compound is heated, the water molecules are released as water vapor. The formula of the
copper carbonate hydrate, Cu2CO3(OH)2*H2O, tells us that one water molecule is bound to each
copper carbonate hydroxide molecule. From the ratio of the mass of the black product to the initial 5g
placed in the flask, could the remaining black compound be the anhydrous copper carbonate
hydroxide molecule Cu2CO3(OH)2? The molecular weight of Cu2CO3(OH)2 is 221.116 g/mol, while
that of water is 18.015 g/mol. Show your calculations. The mass of copper (II) carbonate hydroxide
hydrate (Cu2CO3(OH)2*H2O) 5.000 g The mass of the 5 g copper (II) carbonate hydroxide hydrate
(Cu2CO3(OH)2*H2O) and crucible before heating 93.000g The mass of the crucible after being

Social Media And Current Technology Availability For...
This is just the beginning Social media have grown tremendously this past couple years. The number
of social media websites has increased from single digit to double digit different sites in the course of
10 years. Facebook, established in 2004, has become a vital part of people s everyday lives. With this
website, there is a friend system, which the users can communicate with each other through messages,
comments, posts, or group system. Serving to connect people from around the world, Facebook has
become a primary website that people go to in order to learn most updated news or news feed from
their friends. However, there has been hot debate about the problem with social media and current

However, many people disagree with that proposal. Facebook, although it has become a huge part of
people s lives, is an example of a popular social media that has affected many users by reducing the
outside activities and in person conversations. But, the small details like the number of friends and the
notification system in the media have proven that this form of media actually improves the quality of
life through self presentation and disapproves the point regarding Facebook is lowering people s life
qualities. Many forms of social media are viewed negatively by some older people because of a few
aspects in the media. One of the aspects is that the social network has become another world among
younger generations where they are not restricted by parental controls and are able to share their
thoughts with people around the world. Some forms of social media actually maintain the anonymity
of the users because this allows people to post anything without thinking about the aftermath. Many
people concern about the unhealthy behaviors like cyber bullying or self harm behaviors that are
displayed on the social media. According to Lau et al, the research regarding social media in health
talks about how some contents displayed on social media are detrimental to many younger
generations: Other harmful and pernicious images can be seen on social video platforms, such as
people displaying self injury behaviors, hurting others, or taking drugs voluntarily. Over the last

Sport or exercise psychologists use imagery as a method to train athlete s skills such as visual
perception skill, attention and regulating emotions (Smeeton, Hibbert, Stevenson, Cumming Williams,

movements or performing the actual movement, similar brain activities was showed and with this
finding, sport psychologists can use imagery to train athletes as essentially there is no difference
between imagery training and physical training according to previous studies (Homles Calmels, 2008,

Greek Dichotomy
The biblical view and the Greek dichotic view of an artist are very different from each other. This
paper will be focusing on explaining the dichotic view of the artist that the Greeks held and the
biblical view on the artist. After discussing both the dichotic view of the Greeks and the biblical view,
this paper will discuss how the biblical view corrects the Greek view. The Greeks held a dichotic view
of the artist (Clevenger et al.). Dichotomy means division into two parts, kinds, etc.; subdivision into
halves or pairs. ( Dichotomy ). According to the video from our module and from what I learned in a
past art class at community college, the two views held by the Greeks of an artist were that they were

The author, several pages later, says, ...the Bible makes it very plain that God has given them a true
function in his service (Gaebelein 65). Another source backs these statements up, it says, ...the Bible
does not call upon Christians to look down upon the arts. In fact, the arts are imperative when
considered from the biblical mandate that whatever we do should be done to the glory of God
(Solomon and Williams). The same source makes a point to say that art is not worse than other things
humans can do, that it can be used not as God wants us to use it, like other gifts He has given us can
be used incorrectly (Solomon and Williams). The book by Gaebelein helps to support that point by
mentioning when the gold cow was made by Aaron and stating, Like all human endeavor...the arts
may be corrupted and turned into idols...if this happens, the fault is never that of the divine Giver of
our talents but always that of us to whom the arts are entrusted as a stewardship (Gaebelein 66). The
verse that gives about the cow and Aaron is in

The Evolution Of Lean Manufacturing
LEAN MANUFACTURING
Origins of Lean Lean originally originated from Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) (McCarthy,
2015) in the early 1900 s however it wasn t until the Toyota family introduced the Toyota Production
System (TPS) into their company manufacturing operations that it began to gain recognition. In the
1950 s, Toyota first implemented quality measures within the production lines process and hence the
initial stages of continuous improvement. Taiichi Ono, who was the executive vice president,
developed and implemented the renowned Toyota Production System (TPS) after the Second World
War as a means of producing a highly effective and efficient manufacturing line for their products.
Ono took great inspiration from Henry Ford s early lean concepts and applied it to meet the demand of
their own Japanese market. This built the seeds of TPS, which today is better known as lean
manufacturing (Womack Jones, 1996). Nowadays, Lean is used globally throughout industry in all
different sizes of enterprises that can depend on the successful implementation of Lean. (Herron,
2008). Toyota s success as one of the world s largest automotive manufacturers and leading Lean
implementers stands as proof of Leans merits. (Institite, 2000 2016). This has led to enormous demand
for knowledge on leans tools and techniques as companies continue to have success with its
implementation.
What is Lean? Lean is commonly referred to as a systematic methodology to approaching and

Morals Of The Brothers Grimm
Before the Brothers Grimm transcribed what is known today as one of the most recognized fairytales
ever recorded, it was being passed down orally from generation to generation at every corner of the
globe. Various versions of Cinderella s myth can be found in almost every culture in the world, all
very distinct with their own specific qualities, reflecting each society s predominant interpretations of
religious themes. For instance, Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm s works were known to promote their
Prussian culture and language, such as Aschenputtel , their German version of Cinderella. Most of
their adjustments were heavily influenced by the criticism of their fellow countrymen, their audience,
and their Christian beliefs.
The Brothers Grimm used a fearful and hopeful tone, syntax and story details in Aschenputtel to
convey the moral of the tale, Virtue will be rewarded, Iniquity will be punished (Perrault, pg. 162),
while still upholding the fairytale conventions. Fairytales were often used to convey a moral, social or
political lesson. Aschenputtel was no different. The Brothers Grimm expressed the hope that their
collection would serve as a manual of manners (Erziehungsbuch) (Tatar, pg.456) for children, a host
that would transmit moral lessons for life. The gory tone of the tale seems to contradict such
statement, but in 1939, Vincent Brun accused the German of perverting the fairy tale by exploiting its
rude primitive instincts to educate...children. (Haase, pg.

Why Do People Come Home In The 1950s
When I visualize the 50 s I picture a man in a suit and tie coming home from a long day s work in his
car. Then he opens the door to his home to see a perfectly clean house, his gorgeous wife, and his two
children dressed neatly in their Sunday best, but it s just a regular Tuesday evening. Next, he will sit in
his favorite chair while his better half gets him a drink and prepares a home cooked meal. The kids
have now given daddy hugs and kisses and are playing outside until mom will ring the dinner bell.
This vision does ring some truth concerning what life was like back in the 1950 s, but there was much
more happening outside the walls of this suburban home. This period of time in American history was
a great time to be alive with the economy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is believed that this word was introduced to the English language because of the new way
adolescents acted. They no longer tried to be like their adult parents. Rock and Roll was a new genre
of music during this time period and loved by the youth, but dismissed by the elders of the time. It was
considered childish and immoral music, but the teenagers were rebellious and continued to indulge
themselves with the music even though their parents did not approve. Artists like Elvis Presley and
Chuck Berry were popular rock and roll musicians and brought the genre to life making the youth fall
even harder for the new sound. Now because this was the middle of the baby boomer generation, there
were a considerable amount of teenagers and this caused a change in our culture. Many social aspects
were tailored to the youths liking, such as movies, magazines, and clothes. There was now a prevalent
market for kids from the age of thirteen to eighteen. Movies like Gidget and Teenage Rebel or the
magazine 16 are examples that illustrate how industries were trying to make films and other products
tailored to the teens desires. This was rather new in that time period and still exists today. We have
whole T.V. channels, stores, magazines, and movies that are geared toward the youth of America. Now
one reason these products were so successful was the fact that there were more parents of this
generation who were well off and

Lennie s Isolation
Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck is novella that follows the relationship between George and
Lennie. George and Lennie are a traveling pair of workers which is unusual in the setting of the
novella for most men work alone. In the beginning of the book, the two are turning a new leaf by
getting a new job on a farm where they meet other workers like Slim, Curly, Carlson and etc. At the
end of the book, the workers are on a manhunt for Lennie when they find his dead body and George
near a clearing. Slim leads George away while Carlson looks at the two wondering what is wrong with
them. What really bothers the two men is the loss of George s companion which leaves him isolated

keep her company and the men disregard her because of her marriage to the boss son, Curly. Her
married status means trouble to the men and that is the reason many stay away from her. Furthermore,
the significance of the fact that she does not have her own name proves that she is just someone s

  • 2. A Trip To Alaska Personal Narrative Chris here. I m sorry for leaving you there with dad and mom. I have had a great time getting my way to Alaska. I have met some really outstanding people. As I was camping along the badlands abutting the Salton Sea, not so far from a gathering of aging hippies, nudists, and snowbirds set up in an area they call Oh My God Hot Springs. While I was hitchhiking into town for food and water, I met Ronald Franz, a retired army veteran who once had a drinking problem. Of course he tried to persuade me to leave the encampment, he said it was a bad influence. He took me to San Diego, where I lived for a little while before leaving to Seattle. I ended up back in California so I decided to call Ron. He bought me a meal at a local steak house, I stayed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. August Wilson Fences Sometimes you have to pick the gun up to put the gun down. This quote was said by Malcolm X, who was an African American Minister and a human rights activist. It means that sometimes you have to fight in order to achieve peace. I agree with what he said because in order to get what you want you have to fight for it. Two literary works that reflect this quote are Fences, a play about the struggles of African American before and during the Civil Rights Era in the 1950s and 60s, by August Wilson and The Yellow Wallpaper a short story that shows the difference between women and men during that time, by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. Fences shows the revolution the characters face, their actions and what is the result of those choices. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The lack of acknowledgment in the play Fences between Troy and Cory cause their relationship to decline even further. One of the greatest sources of disappointment in Troy s life is the fact that he wasn t allowed to play pro baseball, Even though he used to hit homeruns in the Negro Leagues, he couldn t go to the majors because of racial discrimination. He doesn t let Cory play football, because he doesn t want Cory to feel what he felt during his time. Troy s lack of acknowledgment of Cory s potential destroys Cory s dream by not signing the papers and not letting the college recruiter from coming. I got sense enough not to let my boy get hurt playing no sports (Wilson 39) He unconsciously stats that he doesn t want Cory to feel how he felt during his time. This quote references flashback because in this quote Troy refers back to what had happened to him during his athletic career, and how it affected his life. In this quote he speaks like a father who is making decisions for his son and his future, even though the people around him is telling him that the time has changed and it is not like before. Troy s lack of acknowledgment causes Cory to lose his dream and late Cory to leave the house. In the play Fences, Troy s demand for change caused him to revolt against the company. Even after the abolishment of slavery the blacks were not treated equally nor had any ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Descriptive Essay On Gospel Music As I entered Chrysler Hall I instantly became nervous. Shamefully Mann s World Concert and Comedy Show will be the first live gospel performance I have ever attended. I didn t know what to expect. I m not as savvy in the gospel genre as I should be. The only songs that I have heard the Mann family perform were the songs they performed with Kirk Franklin and the Family and the popular ones that play on the radio. I glanced around the auditorium and it appeared to a full house. The audience had several nationalities ready to enjoy a night of gospel music. There was a deejay table off to the side entertaining the crowd as everyone arrived at their seats. The stage had band instruments towards the back of the stage with a deejay table in front of them. The lights were beautiful; they displayed various scenes and sceneries throughout the show. First to arrive on stage was David Mann Jr. He walked out and headed towards the deejay tables that were center stage. His energy and music selections pumped the crowd up and had everyone ready to party. The lights on the stage had a party appearance and holograms of a dancer. As the lights begin to flash a different color I anxiously waited for the next song to start. He played all the family reunion and cookout party hits such as The Emotions Best of My Love, Carl Carlton s She s a Bad Mama Jama, Cheryl Lynn s Got to be Real, Curtis Blow s These are the Breaks, Cameo s Candy, Maze and Frankie Beverly s Before I ... • 8. What Are Your Recommendations For Using Fossil Fuels And... 1. What are your recommendations for using fossil fuels and renewable energy sources? The United States currently uses approximately one quarter of the world s total energy consumption (Toossi). With around 322 million people inhabiting the United States, our population accounts for just fewer than 5% of the total world population. That means that our 5% of the world s population is using 25% of the world s energy! Something has to be done. To begin to understand why, we need to break down our energy demands: 37% petroleum (used mostly for transportation), 25% natural gas (spread out evenly between industrial, residential, commercial, and electricity generation), 21% coal (mostly going towards electricity generation), 8% renewable energies (the majority of which is used for electricity generation) and 9% nuclear electric power (100% of which is used to produce electricity) (Toossi). Our main problem is our incredible need for fast cars and big trucks. If we as a nation could come together to incentivize the use of public transportation over personal transportation our petroleum use would decrease greatly. The burning of coal is also a huge problem in the United States. It is a fossil fuel which is incredibly unclean and is a big culprit in the global warming issue we see today. My energy policy would incentivize the use of nuclear energy which is a much cleaner technology and has become increasingly safe in recent years. Only 9% of our energy is generated from ... Preparation of Alum from Aluminum Metal Essay example LABORATORY REPORT 4 PREPARATION OF ALUM FROM ALUMINUM METAL Huy Nguyen October 2nd, 2012 The objective of the laboratory is to synthesize alum (KAl(SO4)2.xH2O) from aluminum powder and to determine the proportion of water in the alum crystals. Alum is a product from the reaction between potassium hydroxide and sulfuric acid. The reaction include several steps, as followed: Aluminum powder reacts with potassium hydroxide to generate Al(OH)4 ions and release hydrogen. 2 Al(s) + 2 KOH(aq) + 6 H2O 2 K[Al(OH)4](aq) + 3 H2 (g) A gelatinous precipitate of aluminum hydroxide was created when sulfuric acid was added to the aqueous solution of Al(OH)4 ions. 2 K[Al(OH)4](aq) + H2SO4 (aq) 2 Al(OH)3 (s) + K2SO4 (aq) + 2 H2O ... After cooling to room temperature, the masses of the contents inside the crucibles were carefully weighed. Results The masses of alum, KAl(SO4)2 and water recorded were given in Table I. Table I. Masses of Alum, KAl(SO4)2 and water in two different crucibles. | Crucible 1 | Crucible 2 | Alum | 0.5000 g | 0.5000 g | KAl(SO4)2 | 0.2721 g | 0.2696 g | H2O | 0.2279 g | 0.2304 g | x= nwaterndry product | 12.00 | 12.24 | According to the values of x obtained from the table above, the average result of x is 12.12. We can define the formula of alum as KAl(SO4)2.12,12H2O (Molar Mass M = 476.16 gmol 1). Finding the formula of alum makes it possible to calculate the theoretical yield and the percent yield of alum. After calculations from the equations demonstrated in the introduction, the theoretical number of moles of alum would be 0.019 moles. The theoretical yield, as a result, would be mtheoretical = 9.69 g. The actual yield recorded after the laboratory was 4.77 g. Combining all the yields gives us the final result of the percent yield: 52,71%. Discussion Several steps of heating the alum crystals and calculations took place to find out the formula of alum. Concerning the first crucible, an amount of 0.5 g of alum was added to the crucible. After ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When they are finally dissolved you add the salt water to one container and the sugar water to its own container but make sure you don t fill it up all the way leave 1in. Then you let it sit until it is warm. Next you stick a stick into the jars without the stick touching the bottom. Mix it. Then you put the cover on with the stick through the cover then clip it with the clothespin so the stick does not move. Then you put it on the side and let it sit where it will not be hit. Check it daily until it is fully formed. Mark down observations. RESULTS: The end result of our project was that the salt formed a crystal before sugar did. On day seven the crystal formation was 2 ½ inches for salt. For sugar it took ten days until it reached 2 ½ inches. Although the crystals did not form on the stick because we messed up it formed around the container therefore that is how we measured the growth. Also, it was conducted to determine the optimal temperature for the fungal, Aspergillus oryzae, and bacterial amylases by placing them both into different test tubes with differing temperature conditions. At varying time intervals, both enzymes were removed from their assigned temperatures. A drop of each enzyme will then be placed on two different spot plates with a pipette. All the wells on the spot plates contain three drops of iodine to clearly show whether a reaction has taken place. Amylase is the enzyme that catabolizes starch polymers into maltose which is a saccharide, or sugar, used as a food source and to store energy. In addition, both starch and amylase are essential in the commercial production of syrups, other food products and brewing processes (Alberte, Pitzer, Calero, 2012). Although, it is important to know the optimal temperatures of both enzymes, it is also important to know that this is not the only factors that affects the activity of the enzymes. Substrate concentration, salt concentration, and pH level are affect enzymatic activity. The presence of inhibitors, or molecules that bind to an enzyme decrease its activity, while activators increase enzymatic activity. If the temperature of an enzyme is greater than the optimal temperature, the active site of that enzyme denatures. In other words, it changes shape, which will prevent substrate binding. Without the substrate binding, the enzyme will not be able to carry out its normal functions and this can lead to a deficiency of an enzyme. • 15. The Community Organizing Self Reflection Essay Community Organizing Self Reflection Experiences My interest in community organizing and building began with the passion and knowledge for the well being of others my father instilled in my life. My father was the late Chief Elmer Manatowa Jr of the Sac and Fox Nation, Native Tribe of Oklahoma. I have been an active Governing Council member (all adult members) of my Tribe for many years. I landed my first real job, Planning Department secretary, after taking a business course at the local technical .school. In that position, I had the opportunity to attend a Tribal Sovereignty Symposium organized by the Federal, State, and Tribal organizations. This was my first taste of community organizing and community building. It was the fourth symposium of its kind. The topics included Indian law, environmental issues, law enforcement, juvenile justice, arts, taxation, spirituality, preservation, state compacts, and Tribal immunity. There were two Senate Bills, 299 and 667. Bill 299 allowed certain protections for protecting land royalties and mineral rights. The protections included oil and mineral operator s exclusion from drilling on individually owned Indian Country lands. Bill 667 referred to the health and human service regarding Indians. When my father died, I stepped up my participation in order to fill in the gap left without his presence. Dance is a special form of art which movement of the body creates. One of the most delicate types of dance, which evokes emotion, is ballet. For Martha Graham, ballet was not only a dance: it was a way to express a fear or happiness with gestures created by the body. Graham was recognized as having made revolutionary changes in dance: in form, subject matter, in the analysis and examination of her themes. • 18. Gender Impact On Class And Gender Effect of Class and Gender Do class and gender affect how individuals act or behave? Society has evolved throughout the years and with that evolution, the people have separated themselves by factors such as class and gender. This separation started many centuries ago and made a large appearance in the Great Depression and Civil Rights Movement. Along with this division of people, actions and behaviors seem to have been paired with certain classifications of people. In prior eras, women were seen as fragile and not earners due to needing to stay at home and take care of children. On the contrary, men were seen as masculine and earned a decent amount of money from working all day long. Even though genders evolved into how they are now with women working alongside men, the separation is still visible. Women are still fighting to get paid the same amount as men, resulting in a certain behavior based on the gender. This behavior is one where women try to get equal pay through comparable worth instead of just staying quiet like women used to. The factors of class and gender cause a difference in an individual s actions and behavior in the ways of not socializing with certain types of people, creating stereotypes, and behaving in a way to fit the norms of the specific class or gender. There are many different articles written that can help describe how socialization, generalized ideas, and standards cause individuals in different genders and classes to act in a certain way. A few of the most important are Post Princess Models of Gender: The New Man in Disney/Pixar by Gillam and Wooden, Seeing and Making Culture: Representing the Poor by hooks, and Girls Bodies, Girls Selves: Body Image, Identity, and Sexuality by Lipkin. All of these articles have aspects that point towards the fact that different reason cause individuals to perform their everyday activities in a certain way. Gillam and Wooden explain in their article that new films produced by Disney and Pixar have changed the idea of masculinity from one of the past to one that accepts the more traditional femininity. Hooks article portrays how she personally was told she was unable to go to college because of her poverty level and when she did go to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This problem started at the beginning of civilization and became worse during the Industrial Revolution of the eighteenth century. Older generations generated more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere due to the burning of fossil fuel and deforestation. More carbon dioxide had a negative impact on the ecosystems of the planet. And the scientific definition of global climate represents changes in the earth s weather and temperature. When higher greenhouse gas concentrates in the atmosphere, the earth becomes warmer. Water vapor, carbon dioxide, and methane are the gases that lead to the greenhouse effect. Pollution of the earth causes damage to the ozone layer in the atmosphere, and it s easy for the sun rays to pass in the earth. Global climate change causes a negative impact on the environment and the world s oceans. Global climate change causes many problems for the planet. The population growth of earth is 7.125 billion. Characterization of Rachel Through the Use of Literary Techniques in Cisneros Eleven Sandra Cisneros writes a memoir through the eyes of an eleven year old. Turning eleven happens to be a tragic day for the main character, Rachel. Through various literary techniques such as hyperbole, simile, and syntax, Rachel is characterized. Rachel is a fresh turning eleven year old who finds herself in an awful situation on her birthday. Forced to wear a raggedy old sweater that doesn t belong to her, she makes it defiantly clear her feelings towards the clothing item, and we see this through use of hyperboles. This inner defiance gives evidence to Rachel s determination and individuality. The sweater now represents a sort of barrier and if she submits herself to it, she fears the world of ages and maturity. The inner battle continues through use of similes and syntax patterns. Cisneros brilliantly weaves a series of vivid metaphors that of an eleven year old to further portray Rachel s character. Today I wish I didn t have only eleven years rattling inside me like pennies in a tin band aid box. This simile characterizes Rachel as not only a child but also portrays her desire to be older. The image evokes a childish habit of collecting pennies in a tin box, a juvenile form of a most precious piggy bank. But in addition to labeling Rachel s age, it also hints at her feelings of wanting out. Rachel feels trapped by her ripe young age of eleven because she feels as if she doesn t have the years behind her to justify her non acceptance of the sweater. Afraid to say no and stand up for herself, Rachel unwillingly has to take the sweater, which smells like cottage cheese and hangs over the edge of her desk like a waterfall. Again, we see glances into Rachel s mind and how she envisions the dreadful sweater. The images allow us to see into an eleven year old s thoughts and see how the situation looks from a child s eyes. The current President, Asif Zardari, it can be argued, is in power mainly because he was the husband of the late Benazir Bhutto, although he has come into his own over the last two years. In the 1950 s, Toyota first implemented quality measures within the production lines process and hence the initial stages of continuous improvement. Morals Of The Brothers Grimm Before the Brothers Grimm transcribed what is known today as one of the most recognized fairytales ever recorded, it was being passed down orally from generation to generation at every corner of the globe. Various versions of Cinderella s myth can be found in almost every culture in the world, all very distinct with their own specific qualities, reflecting each society s predominant interpretations of religious themes. For instance, Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm s works were known to promote their Prussian culture and language, such as Aschenputtel , their German version of Cinderella. Most of their adjustments were heavily influenced by the criticism of their fellow countrymen, their audience, and their Christian beliefs. The Brothers Grimm used a fearful and hopeful tone, syntax and story details in Aschenputtel to convey the moral of the tale, Virtue will be rewarded, Iniquity will be punished (Perrault, pg. 162), while still upholding the fairytale conventions. • 34. Why Do People Come Home In The 1950s When I visualize the 50 s I picture a man in a suit and tie coming home from a long day s work in his car.
