The Crash Of The United States
On December 13th, 1982 one of the most memorable plane accidents happened on Fourteenth
Street bridge which happens to cross over the Potomac River. On a cold and snowy day just
after 4 o clock a 737 Boeing airplane crashed into the river near Washington D.C. The flight was
supposed to return to Ft. Lauderdale, however, snow in Washington briefly closed the airport.
When the airport reopened, the plane was de iced, but still had difficulties once it got into the air
due to the ice. Seventy four passengers and five crew members were on the plane and
unfortunately seventy three of them died. When the plane crashes, it struck multiple vehicles and
then hit a section of the bridge. On the bridge four people were killed and another four people
were injured. The main reason so many perished were due to the extreme cold of the water, the
snow stormconditions and the heavy traffic, which prevented firefighters from reaching the site of

The novel, Darkness at Noon, clearly referenced Stalin s purges that occurred during the late
1930s. The story follows an old Bolshevik Rubashov as he experienced the Great Purge and

the time period, Darkness at Noon contributes to a further understanding of the 30s in the Soviet
Union. Throughout the novel, the contrast between the old and the new held an important position

Reflect: When I started this course, I did not think that I was going to be able to complete it.
Writing papers is not a strong suit for myself. But this course was about teaching someone to use
what inside themselves to create works of art. Drawing from emotions and imagination and
translating that into a written canvas. Most people would not have a problem with knowing one s
self. For me, it is a different situation, but I overcame this. My skills for writing has greatly
improved. I am still a person who skips steps, outlines for example and goes right to writing. This is

a subject cause great difficulties when writing. The problem is increases more when more

audience: we should really think about the lobster s point of view before cooking and eating it.
Wallace uses multiple rhetorical strategies to get his point across, including pathos and ethos. His
essay is very good in how it gets its point across, and how it forces even the largest lobster
consumers to truly contemplate how the lobster might react being boiled alive. It brings up
many controversial topics of animal rights that many people tend to avoid, especially people
who are major carnivores. Wallace s use of rhetorical strategies really gets the reader thinking,
and thoroughly captures the argument of many vegetarians against the consumption of animals.
Wallace captures the use of pathos in his essay and uses it in a way that is incredibly convincing
to the reader. For example, he compares the Maine Lobster Festival to how a Nebraska Beef
