Melaton Metro Transit System
All light rail vehicles under Minneapolis s Metro Transit system have vertical bike racks that can hold
up to 4 bicycles. Other transit systems, such as Portland s TriMet system, designate one car on each
train to be a low floor train car, which contains hanging bike racks that hold 4 bikes. Bike are also
allowed on high floor train cars; there are no bike racks, but there are seating rows available that have
extra space in front of them to accommodate for bicycles. In some cities, however, they allow bikes on
board trains but do not have bike racks to accommodate. In these systems, because bikes often take up
passenger space, they are only allowed on trains during non peak times and in the non peak direction.
But whether trains have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, if train stations are readily accessible to more people, then more people would be
encouraged to utilize trains and abandon their cars, reducing the community s carbon emissions.
Integrating bicycles with buses and trains is necessary for any transit system looking to find success;
however, there is an additional step that must be taken in order to experience the full benefits of a bike
and ride system. That final step is the presence of safe bike to bus and train stations. In contrast to
drivers, cyclists are much more exposed to the environment and prone to injury on their bicycles.
Therefore, many cyclists avoid riding on busy roads where they are more likely to collide with a car. If
a bus or train station is only accessible by a busy main road, then no matter how bike friendly the
buses or trains may be, cyclists will not ride to the station because they do not feel safe on the roads.
Safe bike ways must be in place in order to unlock the potential of bike friendly transit systems. A
1988 study conducted on Northern Virginia rail transit stations emphasizes this idea. In the study,
users of four of Northern Virginia s Metrorail stations were surveyed. The study found that 66 percent
of those who used the park and ride feature at the stations lived within 3 miles of the station , a
distance that can easily be covered on a bicycle. However, many of the stations users opted not do so

An Examination Of Post Event Information ( Pei )
Another form of Post event information (PEI) is conformity, in the event that an individual witnesses a
crime committed there is always the potential that there are co witnesses that also witnessed the crime,
while an increase in witnesses may hold some positives there is the potential for conformity.
Conformity takes place when one witnesses memories of a past event become more like another
person s described memories of the same event (Kieckhaefer, J.M. Wright, D.B., 2015, pg. 462). Co
witnesses often alter their memory reports to coincide with other witnesses reports (Goodwin K.A. et
al., 2013, pg. 91). If a co witness is a friend or family then an individual is even more likely to
conform to their views than they would be if the co witness was a stranger. Kieckhaefer and Wright
also found evidence that another factor that increases a witnesses memory conformity is if the co
witness is likable(Kieckhaefer, J.M. Wright, D.B., 2015, pg. 463). There have been multiple studies
conducted where researchers use confederates, research helpers used to feed unknowing participants
information, to determine whether or not participants will conform to the confederate s reports
(Goodwin, K.A. et al., 2013, pg. 91). Furthermore, witnesses are more likely to alter their views when
they are motivated to avoid deviating from the group. Therefore, if a group of other individuals
pressure a witness they are likely to alter their experience to fit with others (Goodwin, K.A. et al.,

Shipping Patented By E Commerce Giant
Anticipatory shipping is a method of shipping patented by e commerce giant Amazon in December
2013. During the normal shipping process, an e commerce retailer or goods manufacturer receives a
customer order specifying the exact address where the product is to be delivered. The company then
prepares the package and hands it over to a shipping service provider such as FedEx for delivery. The
delay of multiple days between order placement and actual delivery is a major impediment to the wide
acceptance of e commerce. It forces e commerce companies to offer incentives like cash on delivery to
their customers. Anticipatory shipping is aimed at cutting the delivery time and improving the
experience for e commerce users. With this technique, a company will ship products even before an
order is placed by a customer. It would specify only a partial address indicating destination
geographical area for delivery. While the packages are in transit, the company will employ advanced
analytics and forecasting techniques to predict which customers would want to buy the shipped
products. Then it could use targeted marketing and sales promotions to induce such customers to buy
the products. If a customer indeed places an order, the company would provide exact delivery address
to the shipping service provider and the products could be delivered much quicker, even on the same
day.

Speech On Endangered Elephants
Jessica Lester
Mrs.Gallos
English 3
8 November, 2017
Endangered Elephants Elephant numbers fell dramatically in the 19th and 20th centuries ( Elephants).
Due to poaching and ivory trade the Elephant population had been dramatically dwindling. Habitat
loss is another major contributor to the decrease in these extraordinary animals. There are many
different things you can do to help slow their decline in population. Raising awareness about this
problem could help us save the Elephants. The Elephant is the largest land mammal on Earth (
Elephant | Species | WWF. ). As you can imagine, Elephants need a lot of food, land, water and space
to roam with their herd. The rainforests they call home are being cut down, causing them to migrate
closer to humans. This causes elephants to get into farmers crops, putting them at risk of being killed.
Elephants use their trunks to dig for food, water and strip the bark off of trees ( African Elephant |
National Geographic. ). Only the male elephants use their tusks to battle each other. Elephants are very
fond of water and Elephants ears radiate heat to help keep these large animals cool, but sometimes the
African heat is too much, ( African Elephant | National Geographic. ). The Asian elephant is very
intelligent. It is one of the only land mammals known to recognize itself in the mirror ( Asian
Elephant. ). Asian elephants are much smaller than African elephants. They have much smaller ears
and tusks. They are also

Analysis Of Walt Disney s Snow White, Dumbo
Walt Disney, animator, cartoonist, and entrepreneur, was a man of incredible vision and passion. He
fundamentally transformed the entertainment industry in America. Prior to Walt Disney Studios, the
art of animation was simply a moving comic strip, void of sound or color and generally constrained to
short vignettes featuring friendly characters like cats. Disney was the first to innovate a system of
animation on a large scale, capable of producing feature length films. Snow White, Dumbo, Pinocchio
these productions revolutionized the film industry in a way never seen previously. Walt Disney
continues to be a cultural phenomenon, a household name spoken to this day by children across the
world.
This romanticized image of Walt Disney conveniently forgets one of the darkest moments in the
famous visionary s past. The day was May 29th, 1941. Over three hundred Disney Studios employees
walked out of their jobs and began to form picket lines surrounding the company buildings. The
strikers held high colorful signs featuring famous Disney cartoon characters like Mickey Mouse and
Donald Duck one poster displayed a picture of Pluto the Dog, reading I d rather be a dog than a scab!
The workers marched on strike against Walt Disney Studios. The outrage of Disney s employees
clearly demonstrated their unhappiness with the way the company s workers were being treated.
The day before the strike commenced, on May 28th, 1941, Disney told his workers: This studio will

The Underlying Cause Of Veteran Suicide
Complex issues in society are often observed, studied, and researched by respective experts in one
particular field. Veteran suicide is one of those issue where this type of academics can sometimes lead
to a very narrow view and simplistic solution to the complex issue being observed, studied, or
researched. Integrative studies is the study of two or more traditional disciplines in different
categories, but excludes the applied fields and professions. As Repko states typical categories include
the natural sciences; the social sciences; the humanities; the fine and performing arts; communication;
business; architecture; engineering; law; etc... (Repko, Interdisciplinary Research Process and Theory
2nd ed., 2012) This paper will explore two different disciplines to research and identify what are the
underlying cause of Veteran suicide and is there a way to combine the two disciplines, biological and
psychological into a comprehensive research paper to help prevent suicide in the Armed Forces. An
integrative study involves the combining of two or more academic disciplines into one activity.
Interdisciplinary research requires an understanding of the disciplines. (Repko, Interdisciplinary
Research Process and Theory 2nd ed., 2012) It is not enough to simply know of the discipline, but
extensive research into a discipline being used to solve a complex issue is needed to find a true
interdisciplinary solution. In this research paper Suicide in the Armed Forces and How to

Different Ways Of Implementing Css Styles Into Html
Dean Cartner CSS
(P1)
There are 3 different ways of implementing CSS styles into html. These are internal, external and
inline. External is when you have a file that only contains CSS code in it and is saved with .css at the
end. External sheets are referenced in the HTML code using link . You need to link it from all HTML
pages. Doing so means you only need to set the styles once. This comes in useful if you want to
change the styles later on as you only have to do it in the one place. This is an example.
Internal is when you place all the CSS code in the head section of the code so between head and /head
. As opposed to the external css you don t need to create a rule for each HTML element. This is an
example of internal CSS code.
Inline is CSS style that is applied to only one element by using the style attributes which means you
can only apply the style you want to a certain instance. These are fairly straight forward and quick to
make which means you don t have to create a seperate document or create a new element for it in the
head section. This is an example.
(M1)
I am going to explain functions, advantages and disadvantages of External and Inline which are two
different ways to implement CSS. There are several advantages for using external CSS including the
fact that it gives you total control of the layout and structure of your page which allows you to keep
the website and the content separate in your code.

The Media And The Issue Of Illegal Immigration
Paper #1: Discuss how the different media outlets frame the issue of illegal immigration?
It is commonly known that media coverage of anything controversial can be faulty, and biased. ABC
News and CCN News could cover the same story, in different ways. This is amplified in cases that
affect different audiences (as in age, race, financial class), because certain stations are aimed towards a
certain audience. A great example of this is FOX and FOX Latino. The two stations, though sister
stations, have very different approaches on certain topics, one being illegal immigration. FOX tends to
be very biased, while FOX Latino gives direct facts.
Most people would assume that FOX and FOX Latino, sister stations, would have rather similar ...

They covered the controversy very differently. FOX Latino has an audience that is concerned about
this problem of illegal immigration, and the problems the immigrants themselves are having. This is
obvious by looking at the articles they have.
These articles and news clips gives statistics of the hardships that the immigrants are facing, and
discuss solutions to said difficulties. For example, On September 22nd, 2015 they posted an article
titled Number of immigrant families, children arrested at border jumps more than 50%. Unlike some
of their previous articles (IE What Happens to US Born Kids of Deported Undocumented
Immigrants?) which was very involved and emotional, this one is rather detached. However, it does
discuss theories on why this is a continuing problem, and why it changes throughout the year. FOX
Latino is there to give information on illegal immigration, possible solutions, etc. They give the
unbiased facts.
FOX news has very different coverage on the subject. They are clearly fixated on discussing the
problems that illegal immigration causes to them (middle class (white) America). For example, on
September 14th, 2015 FOX reporter Kimberly Guilfoyle went viral for allegedly comparing
immigrants to a brain tumor. In the next few days (September 16th, 2015) they publish an article
Elusive crime wave data shows frightening toll of illegal immigrant criminals. This article was very

Scotland s Rural Economic Crisis
A rural economic crisis occurred as there was a decline of people working the land. The highland
population between the years of 1921 1930 witnessed a decrease of 13.8% in the highland counties
alone. This can be explained through an increase in emigration, loss of life from World War One and a
general decline in agriculture. The 1920 s saw an overall increase in emigration from Scotland, many
of these came from rural areas. An explanation into rural emigration could be in response to the land
raids that were occurring during this time. Land raids were carried out mainly by ex servicemen who
were under the illusion, they would be rewarded in land for war efforts. Therefore, showing the impact
of the interwar years upon rural society in Scotland. Another industry that suffered post war was the

However, during the interwar years, it became evident there was problems. The cost of fuel was rising
and fishermen struggled to keep up with the rising cost, while trying to restore their boats to a pre war

many Eastern European countries. Therefore, resulting in a decline of Scotland s fishing industry. It is
evident, Scotland s economy was in ruins after the war, the reliance upon staple industries witnessed a
domino effect that spread throughout Scotland. Which resulted in the interwar depression. However, it
also had a substantial impact upon Scotland s employment levels.
The interwar depression witnessed the emergence of mass unemployment. Scotland s recession was
deeper and more sustained than in England, resulting in higher levels of unemployment and a social
crisis. Notably, unemployment levels varied across industries, regions and demographic groups.

Rough Draft: Forks [NEED BETTER TITLE]
Just as his dad didn t require him to speak Japanese, my dad didn t require me to use chopsticks. Both
must have decided at some point that passing along cultural heritage in these particular forms was too
much of a hassle. Becoming familiar with other things, like literature in English, Calculus, Bob Dylan,
Charlie Chaplin, and Baseball, took priority. Perhaps this is the process known as Americanization,
although both of them were already as American as they come well before I was born. Compared to
the many important parenting decisions that would surely play a role in determining my identity,
whether or not to train me on chopsticks at a young age was a barely noticeable fork in the road. ...

Why use a fork when eating with hands is both faster and cheaper? Contributing to its slow adoption,
the fork also shared traits with the pitchfork or trident of the devil along with the connotation of the
forked tongue, not exactly the epitome of truthfulness that would be desired in an everyday object. By
the 11th century some people had adopted the use of the fork (Goldsmith). However, its use was
uncommon and its users were sometimes ridiculed for their seemingly unnecessary use. One princes is
described by saying that she deigned not to touch her food with her fingers, but would command her
eunuchs to cut it up into small pieces, which she would impale on a certain golden instrument with
two prongs and thus carry to her mouth (Goldsmith). Clearly at this time forks were not yet for
everyone but only for a few of the upper class. Forks were not widely adopted until the industrial
revolution which allowed the mass production of the silver plated utensils for all (Goldsmith). At this
point many commoners could afford to not only own a fork but a whole set of silverware (Goldsmith).
[NEED TO TIE HISTORY BACK TO POINTS] One might observe that while forks can scoop things
up, they are designed for stabbing. They re good for separating solids from liquids, wrapping a tangle
of noodles into a clump, plucking and poking to test the texture of something suspiciously foreign on a
plate. With the help of a knife, they can be

Sexually Transmitted Diseases ( Std ) Essay
Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD) are one of the most common and preventable health care
problems in the world. The ageism of the population and the increase in the number of older adults,
along with healthcare advances that provide better and longer quality of life, has encourage changes in
sexuality amongst older adults. This increase has prompted healthcare workers to familiarize
themselves with the sexuality of older adults. In this report, I plan to discuss the significance of this
topic, the concern for the public, and interventions that can be implemented from a Community Health
Nurse prospective.
The term Sexually Transmitted Disease refers to a vast amount of infectious organisms that include
viruses and bacteria which are transmitted primarily through sexual intercourse. Modes of
transmission also include non sexual activities such as needles sharing during drug use, blood
transfusions and vertical transmission from mother to child. STD surveillance and prevention
measures are often geared towards adolescent and young adult populations, thus leaving the older
adult population unrecognized and vulnerable.
The challenges that this population faces are directly related to psychosocial, physiological, economic
and behavioral factors. Challenges such as these can cause serious obstacles for the prevention of
STDs due to their influence on access to care, willingness to seek treatment, and social behaviors
regarding sexuality. Often older adults are looked at as

guidelines would be a requirement that providers must accurately complete and sign off on a patient s

be guidelines in regard to a patient with Mental and Behavioral Health records. These type of records
contain sensitive information and should not be widely shared with the entire staff. Therefore, a

What Are The Similarities Between Baroque And Baroque Eras
Introduction
European design has evolved over the centuries from the Renaissance era of the 15th century to
Baroque era of the 16th century right through to the Rococo era of the late 1700 s. Even though the
style might have changed, some elements can be traced across all three periods.
This essay will explore the similarities and differences in the aforementioned eras by singling out 4
different examples from these eras and how these influenced or affected the society and patrons who
commissioned these artworks at that time.
Emphasis will be placed on specific examples that best demonstrate the style of each era. The image
examples used in this essay are firstly the ceiling of the Sistine chapel and the bronze David by
Donatello. Both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the peak of the Renaissance era of 1600 Rome, there was a move towards a style that was more
dramatic and celebrated the church and the elite. This style melodramatically reaffirmed the emotional
depths of the catholic faith and glorified both the church and monarch (History of Art, 1933:284).
Baroque is distinguished by the grander sense of space in architecture, intense emotion and movement
in painting and sculpture. Opulence and grandeur is often displayed in the ostentatious interiors homes
of the elite and the church was highly decorated.
Some similarities between Baroque and Renaissance eras, is the strong use of light and shade to create
depth and realism.
The word Baroque derives from the Portuguese word barocco which seems to imply an irregularly
shaped or imperfect pearl. Which is quite ironic since Baroque design was anything but imperfect.
Rococo
The style of the Rococo period can be characterised as being playful and asymmetrical as opposed to
that of Baroque. Though there are similarities between the two stylistic periods, Rococo design is
more ornate and motifs usually resemble shells and stones and the intricate designs are often gilded
with gold and other precious metals. The colour palette is muted and emphasis is placed on the design
rather than the

Communication Is A Key Element For The Success Of The...
In a group, communication is a key element that contributes to the success of the group. Without
communication between group members, the tasks will not be fulfilled. This is why communication
was an important aspect in our team.
There were several forms of communication used throughout our project. Some included
communicating in person as well as communicating after class. However, when we began to work on
the interview portion of the assignment, we were all very busy and could no longer meet face to face.
This is when we decided to keep in touch through technology for future references. We did so by
communicating through an app called Groupme. By utilizing this app, we were able to control,
organize, and plan for all of the tasks required.
Another form of communication that we used during this time was Google Docs. Google Docs
allowed us to examine, edit, and comment on each other s assigned portion of the assignment. It was
extremely convenient and effortless to use. This is how we conclusively agreed on the final
submission of assignment.Overall, the communication within our team was efficient and successful.

Wicca and Wiccan Practitioners Essay
Wicca one of the most recognizable pagan religions today in the USA and Great Britain is also
unfortunately, like many pagan religions, still greatly misunderstood by the general population: mainly
due to the media s often inaccurate or highly skewed presentation of Wicca and Wiccan practitioners.
This inaccurate depiction of Wicca and Wiccans often leads to people lumping Wiccans together with
occultists and Satanists and all the negative connotations that surround those words. Luckily, Wiccans
are neither occultist nor Satanists. Instead Wiccans are part witch part pagans whose unique beliefs,
traditions, and practices set them apart from other witches and pagans.

However, this does not mean we are all witches; in order to be a witch one must self identify as a
witch. Other types of magic can include healing, protection, divination, etc. Also it is important to note
that while all Wiccans are witches, not all witches are Wiccans as witches can be of any faith.
Another key aspect of being a Wiccan is being a pagan or neopagan. As defined by Prudence Jones
from the Pagan Federation International, pagan is a term used to describe a follower of a polytheistic
or pantheistic nature worshipping religion, while neopagan is a term used to describe those whose
religions, as Eric A. Powell states in his article Solstice at the Stones, consist of modern beliefs
inspired by ancient religious practices (36). According to Jones, the term neopagan is also used to
describe all those [religions] who are recognisably [sic] Pagan, but who do not adhere to any of the
standard [pagan] traditions. However, since most pagans today are actually neopagans as Powell
explains, modern pagans are more interested in evolving and cultivating their own practices rather
than trying to emulate traditional, ancient practices (41) often neopagans are simply referred to as
pagans.
According Jones, besides finding nature sacred, many pagan religions are polytheistic with many
believing in at least a god and a goddess. Again it is important to note that while all Wiccans are
pagans, not all pagans are Wiccans. For example, according to the

Sociological Theories Of Criminology
Criminology in the beginning was ruled as the classical school of thought and was looked at as crime
being a product of rational choice that can be controlled with some form of deterrence method. Since
then it has been expanded on with new developed ideas of why crime is committed, including theories
that say that biological, psychological and sociological issues are the causes for crime.
Biological theories say that crime is caused by genetic or physical defects, with treatment being
effective only with the reduction of aggression. Earlier ideas were phrenology, atavism, criminal
behavior in families, and somatotypes, then progressing with later theories of biosocial arousal,
behavior genetics, and autonomic nervous system to name a few. The causes can range from diet,
physical or neurological defects, or just born bad. There have been cases were individuals have been
known to receive blows to the head causing them to have some form of head trauma that has been
linked to criminal behavior.
Psychological theories are that development during formative years of personality defects are the
reason crime is committed. It is therefore believed that crime is caused by an imbalance of the ID,
superego, and ego. The claim is that crime is because of a lack of proper development during early
years of life.
Sociological Theories says that a persons place in society determines if they will commit a crime.

Contemplative Practice In Judeo-Christianity
Contemplative practice, as described above, can be found in other traditions from the Hindu Yogic
tradition to Judaism to Christianity (Sharples, 2003). Mandalas (are) ancient objects of meditation for
Hindus and Tibetan Buddhists that were adapted for contemplation in medieval Christianity
(Broomfield, 1997, p. 81). In the Hindu Yogic tradition, heavy emphasis is placed on the concentrative
nature and importance of meditation to restore calm, well being and understanding (Gunaratana,
1991). He identified contemplative practices in Judeo Christianity, which focused thought on a
specific subject, religious concept or passage, to restore calm and well being; which correlates with
mindfulness. Having grown up in a Jewish household and having worked in a ... Show more content

Zajonc (2009) cited several examples of contemplative practice in the Christian tradition including
meditative reading, reflection, and a prayer to center the mind. He also highlighted the contemplative
silence of the Benedictine Order as part of their focused attention on sacred text (Zajonc, 2009).
Christ, as reported in the Bible, exhorted his followers that the kingdom of God is within which
suggests a contemplative practice (Sharples, 2003). It is also recorded that Christ spent forty days and
nights in the wilderness, possibly in contemplative thought, meditating. Many Christian traditions also
practice contemplation to develop positive qualities such as compassion and forgiveness through
reflection (Sharples, 2003). In summary, the literature highlighted above indicates that present
moment awareness and contemplative practice are evident in the philosophy and practice of many
religions. This contemplative practice was designed to ponder religious texts, discover new insights
and experience a sense of calm for individual practitioners. Next I review definitions of mindfulness
from other philosophical traditions, before considering the influence of western culture on
mindfulness and contemplative

Tattoos Senior Project
My senior project was over the History of Tattooing, I chose this as my topic because Tattoos really
interest me with all the different styles and meanings behind them. Some things I already knew about
Tattooing is a lot of tribes used tattoos to symbolize things, but I didn t know what. With my research I
expected to find a lot more upfront information, like maybe a for sure area on where they originated
and exactly how it spread, but it was so spread out it was hard for anyone to pinpoint exactly who did
them first.
Doing my senior project I found out that just doodling a Tattoo is difficult because you wouldn t want
it to be flat or too simple, so you have to really but in detail and attempt to put in depth to help your
piece come to life even before it s on skin, What I did was I put in a different color where the bottom
area of the tentacle is and tried to do highlighting with some silver to give more depth. My mentor
assisted me with ideas also with her Tattoo in general. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

I do though like my Piece it was fun to do! But some questions I have Is how to get the piece to come
to life?! And who brought the idea of tattoos to life? And what region in the world does the most
elaborate tattoos? My overall thoughts on my senior project is that this was a definite stretch for me
with time management, and stretching my knowledge in tattoo history and with my artistic ability it
was a real stretch for that I ve never done animals

The Movie Marshall Movie
In the movie Marshall we take a look at one of Thurgood Marshall early cases. In Marshall , Thurgood
starts off at a train station getting ready to board and some bad cats walk up to him and started
screaming obscene things at Thurgood. We see Thurgood going into the NAACP office and someone
is waiting for him to tell him he will be taking a rape case in New York. Thurgood tells his wife that he
will have to leave again for another court case. So he goes to New York and enlists the help of local
lawyer Samuel Friedman. Marshall needed a co counselor based in Connecticut to help him argue the
case, someone more familiar with the laws and politics particular to the state. Sam s response wasn t
to welcoming. He felt like this was a case that could possible ruin his career. He wanted nothing to do
with it. After a few movie minutes we go to see the man accused of rape. It s an African American
male named Joseph Spell. Spell is accused of raping his former boss Eleanor Strubing. Mrs.Strubing
had come home from dinner with friends. She was fresh from the shower and wearing only a robe
when Spell knocked on her bedroom door and asked if he could borrow some money. She claims Spell

A Review Of Mars Venus And Vulcan By John Singleton Copley
This piece is called, Mars Venus and Vulcan: The Forge of Vulcan, it is an oil canvas done by John
Singleton Copley, done in 1754. The era that this piece most represents is the Eighteenth and early
nineteenth centuries of art in Europe and North America. This is because of the brief use of nudity and
the use of children that are shown as little angels. The artist also used a sense of time and motion. It is
as if the figures in the piece are moving themselves. The use of 3 D and kinetics allows this sense of
movement in this piece. Also the artist used repetition and rhythm. The viewer s eye is constantly
moving because of this sense of repetition and rhythm

The era this piece most represents is the Renaissance art in the fifteenth century Italy. It goes best with
this era because of its use of nudity and shape and lighting. Its use of space of sharp edges and
sculpture figures. Also the use of lighting shows an almost 3 D like image. Even though this is a print
it almost seems like a picture of statues. The artist also used a sense of scale and proportion in this
piece. Every statue is differently scaled from the others. The body parts on each statue did not quite fit
with the other body parts. Every statue is different in size, stance, and color. Also the background
behind each figure is different from the other ones, in its use of color and detail.
I am very fond of this work of art. The way every part of it is different and that there is no pattern and
nothing is the same really intrudes me. The detail on each figure is incredibly real. The fact that
someone did this in today s world is also extremely interesting. By looking at this piece at first I
thought for sure it was from the far past, when I found out it was not and that it was a newer piece I

Birth Defect Effect
There is no greater disability in society than the inability to see a person as more. Robert M. Hensel
says that, to look at a person with a disability and think nothing more of them is a disability for us.
Birth defects are abnormalities mostly found in infants. There are many issues that come along with
having a birth defect but some can be prevented. Analyzing all that is known in accordance to birth
defects can help us look for more solutions in minimizing birth defect rates. For this reason education
for pregnant women regarding birth defects needs to be more prevalent in the medical community.
Learning about birth defects and the importance of preventing them can benefit the community greatly

Because of all the research that has been done on birth defects, there is now a new technology that
helps the situation in regards to birth defects. One of these technologies is a robot used to aid in
treatment. Researchers at the University of Sheffield, Boston s Children Hospital and Harvard Medical
School developed a robot that is used to aid the treatment of oesophageal atresia (Biotech Week 1).
Oesophageal atresia is a rare genetic birth defect where the upper and lower parts of the oesophagus
don t connect. The research spent on this project shows how important education of birth defects is
important even to doctors and health scientists in order to improve the technology for birth defects.
The more they learn about birth defects and the science behind it, the more developments there will be
in this field. The new robot makes it easier and less stressful for the patient and those surrounding the
patient. The child is able to move around and live normally as they undergo their treatment (Biotech
Week 1). Since the robot is inside the child, they are able to interact and do what they want as the
robot repairs the tissue inside. Another benefit is that with this robot they are able to improve in the
medical field. We further want to look at other tubular tissues, such as intestine and the vascular
system, to see if this technology can be used to help with

The Statewide Legalization Of Marijuana
Ryan James Michael Monteith
Period 7
March 11, 2015
Step Seven Original Draft The statewide legalization of marijuana is a slap in the face to the federal
government of the USA. What Colorado has done will cause many difficulties for the bureau and for
the agents of the FBI. More than likely, California is closely following suit of Colorado as well as
many other states in the union. Per state, it may be legal, but as for federal law, it is still illegal by
many means. The legalization of marijuana will cause many problems. The drug is not only harmful to
the body, but leads to the use of other narcotics. According to a recent study at Yale University showed
that alcohol ... and marijuana were associated with an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Prior to the illegalization of alcohol in the 1920 s people loved to drink. It was a big part of the life
style this caused many women to start a prohibition movement that would ban the sale, movement,
buying, and distributing of alcohol. This movement covered all ways of getting new alcohol but it did
not make consuming the product illegal. This was a form of grandfathering the already bought alcohol
or else the US would have had to pay each individual for the alcohol they had to turn in. Following the
start of the prohibition in 1920, people started having what are known as Speakeasy s . A speakeasy
was a type of club that had illegal alcohol and live music and parties all the time. The name speakeasy
was more than just a name. It was a rule. The rule itself separated the words to a command to Speak
Easy! about the time and place and what they were doing at that specific location. It kept most of these
illegal events to stay secret but not all of them. This era in American history is a fad with pop culture.
The book/movie The Great Gatsby and the Broadway Production of Thoroughly Modern Milly all
take place in this era and tell tales of adventurous parties and mixed with running from police to just
go and do it again the next day. The Legalize it movement also had a history like this. Out of a group

California s Gas Prices Overpriced
California s Gas Prices Overpriced California since the gold rush has been known as the Golden State
where it s flooded with multicultural richness from the beaches to the mountains. California today is
the most densely populated state with 38.8 million residents and is still rising, however, not only is the
population ever increasing so are gas prices. Allysia Finley an editorial writer from The Wall Street
Journal states, The national average is $2.76 a gallon, while the Golden State drivers pay $3.88. Eco
virtue is expensive (Finley 1). Gas prices in California has left an effect of overpriced due to many
contributing factors: regulation over the environment, overconsumption, and how rational people think
at the margin.

However, mostly these regulations have affect only those small refineries drastically to the point of a
shut down and let only the big and powerful industrial companies take over and collect more profit.
Jennifer L. Brown author of The Market Effects of Going Green states, Additionally, trends in industry
concentrations during the time period reformulated gasoline regulation compliance appear to have
favored large refiners as small refiner market share decreased and industry concentration increased
simultaneously from 1997 to 1999 (Brown 126). Meaning that regulations in California can be visible
from the 90 s and have slowly increased, yet unnoticed to the public until now. While these large
corporations have slowly eliminated its small rivals and maintain more of the power of the market in
gasoline. Which later can have an effect of market failure.
Multiple solutions to California s problem have a rise in order to prevent a long run effect or a market
failure. For instance, Tom Steyer a billionaire environmentalist has proposed an oil extraction tax.
However, adding another tax can lead into two directions. First, if it becomes a corrective tax to
corporations it can correct their actions, and take account of the social cost. Which leads to low prices
for consumers, and at the same time protect the environment because the seller will have the incentive
to reduce low pollution. Or it can create

The Mysterious Death Of Mary Rogers And The Market Revolution
The Mysterious Death of Mary Rogers and the Market Revolution The Mysterious Death of Mary
Rogers, written by Amy Gilman Srebnick is about the unsolved mystery of Mary Rogers. Mary
Rogers worked at a broadway tobacco shop. She was called cigar girl. In the 1840 s it was very
shameful for a young lady like Mary Roger to work at a cigar shop because but in a way she made the
shop well known. She also managed her mother s boarding house at 126 Nassau Street. Mary was the
youngest child. She was young, unmarried, and beautiful. Mary also had a lover, Daniel Payne. Mary
Rogers was only 20 when she went missing. On July 28, 1841 Mary Rogers body was discovered
floating near the shore of the hudson river with visible signs of violence. A report by two jurors
indicated that Mary had been gagged, tied, raped by several men, and finally strangled (Srebnick 18).
Dr.Cook confirmed that Mary had not drowned, frothy blood was still issuing from her mouth and her
face was suffused with dark, bruised blood and had swollen veins (Srebnick 18). Once her body was
found there were many theories as to how she died. The New Jersey coroner determined strangulation.
The New York coroner determined she drowned. Another witness confessed while on her deathbed
that it was due to an abortion. Mary Rogers death is still a mystery today. Payne was a prime suspect,
being that he was her lover. Several weeks after Mary s death, on Friday October 8, 1841, Payne was

Hannibal Lecter Character Traits
TERM PAPER SERIAL KILLERS AND ALIENS
ANALYSIS OF HANNIBAL LECTER
INTRODUCTION
Man is the world s most dangerous animal. Though we do not possess sharp teeth, claws, poisonous
stingers, or the ability to perceive heat radiated by other creatures, we do possess an unsurpassed
ability to reason and think. Man has intelligence, the deadliest natural weapon of all. In Thomas Harris
The Silence of the Lambs, readers are introduced to Hannibal Lecter, the cannibalistic psychiatrist,
who fuses a razor honed intellect with the savage qualities of a beast. He is both man and monster, but
it is the balance of these two aspects that gives him the depth that still fascinates and horrifies to this
day. In order to reach this conclusion with significant arguments I will proceed to analyze the books
and different movies that refer to this interesting character.
SUMMARY OF THE FILMS
First of all, I believe that it is important to start from the beginning of Hannibal`s life in order to
understand why he became the character that most people are fascinated by. The first movie in terms
of telling the childhood of Hannibal Lecter is Hannibal Rising which was directed by Peter Weber in
2006. This movie is very important in terms of answering the question ... Show more content on

he causes the death of a nurse and another patient who was staying in the next room, but, it is
important to mention, that he also helped the FBI to catch two other serial killers: Tooth Fairy and
Buffalo Bill. The second one takes place in the movie Silence of the Lambs , in which Hannibal

internship. He made his way, without any resources, to Rwanda, only to be forced to escape violence
there and make his way back to Burundi and finally back to America. Kidder does not narrate the book
in a simple chronological format, but instead alternates between Deo s story before and after he
escapes Burundi. We first encounter Deo on a journey with Kidder to revisit the sites of the Hutu Tutsi
atrocities of the 1990 s. We then shift several years earlier

Analysis Of The Movie Crash
CRASH! This was the last sound Tim Horton heard before he crashed into the woods. His drunk body
made the violent rolling of the car feel like nothing. His mind still back at the bar, crying for a better
life. He wanted this attempt to be painless and quick, but was depressed to see his immaculated body
upside down in his turnovered car. The drunk had no more tears to shed, he had no screams to let out;
all he could do was hit his head against the seat. He wanted something to break ,but his mind made
him sleep. After he woke up he started to look at his surroundings. He was at awe at the serenity of the
forest at night and the fauna that are the denizens. He took off the seatbelt which made him fall into

hand and in the other he had dirty bandages and a disinfecting spray.
Sit down, I can treat it. the man commanded as he placed down the seats.
Tim sat down with great haste, wishing for the pain to go away. The old man eventually followed.
So, tell me why on god s green earth you have this massive tear in your skin. What, you were playing
in the forest? Asked the elderly person. I.. I m Tim Horton, I accidently drove my car into a ditch near
this forest and got this. I went here to find help. Why is your gas station here? responded Tim. The
western stopped treating and then suddenly studied Horton s face for something, but Horton didn t
know what. Well, I m Mr.Grove. I decided to live in the forest where it is quite, instead with my
kindred in the noisy city. I bought the station because it was the cheapest close by. This station is a
facade, there is only my bed, bathroom and kitchen in there. I hunt for the food around me and drink
the water from the stream near by. Now, I have said the genesis of my life and now you should say

  • 2. Melaton Metro Transit System All light rail vehicles under Minneapolis s Metro Transit system have vertical bike racks that can hold up to 4 bicycles. Other transit systems, such as Portland s TriMet system, designate one car on each train to be a low floor train car, which contains hanging bike racks that hold 4 bikes. Bike are also allowed on high floor train cars; there are no bike racks, but there are seating rows available that have extra space in front of them to accommodate for bicycles. In some cities, however, they allow bikes on board trains but do not have bike racks to accommodate. In these systems, because bikes often take up passenger space, they are only allowed on trains during non peak times and in the non peak direction. But whether trains have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition, if train stations are readily accessible to more people, then more people would be encouraged to utilize trains and abandon their cars, reducing the community s carbon emissions. Integrating bicycles with buses and trains is necessary for any transit system looking to find success; however, there is an additional step that must be taken in order to experience the full benefits of a bike and ride system. That final step is the presence of safe bike to bus and train stations. In contrast to drivers, cyclists are much more exposed to the environment and prone to injury on their bicycles. Therefore, many cyclists avoid riding on busy roads where they are more likely to collide with a car. If a bus or train station is only accessible by a busy main road, then no matter how bike friendly the buses or trains may be, cyclists will not ride to the station because they do not feel safe on the roads. Safe bike ways must be in place in order to unlock the potential of bike friendly transit systems. A 1988 study conducted on Northern Virginia rail transit stations emphasizes this idea. In the study, users of four of Northern Virginia s Metrorail stations were surveyed. The study found that 66 percent of those who used the park and ride feature at the stations lived within 3 miles of the station , a distance that can easily be covered on a bicycle. However, many of the stations users opted not do so because of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. An Examination Of Post Event Information ( Pei ) Another form of Post event information (PEI) is conformity, in the event that an individual witnesses a crime committed there is always the potential that there are co witnesses that also witnessed the crime, while an increase in witnesses may hold some positives there is the potential for conformity. Conformity takes place when one witnesses memories of a past event become more like another person s described memories of the same event (Kieckhaefer, J.M. Wright, D.B., 2015, pg. 462). Co witnesses often alter their memory reports to coincide with other witnesses reports (Goodwin K.A. et al., 2013, pg. 91). If a co witness is a friend or family then an individual is even more likely to conform to their views than they would be if the co witness was a stranger. Kieckhaefer and Wright also found evidence that another factor that increases a witnesses memory conformity is if the co witness is likable(Kieckhaefer, J.M. Wright, D.B., 2015, pg. 463). There have been multiple studies conducted where researchers use confederates, research helpers used to feed unknowing participants information, to determine whether or not participants will conform to the confederate s reports (Goodwin, K.A. et al., 2013, pg. 91). Furthermore, witnesses are more likely to alter their views when they are motivated to avoid deviating from the group. Therefore, if a group of other individuals pressure a witness they are likely to alter their experience to fit with others (Goodwin, K.A. et al., ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Shipping Patented By E Commerce Giant Anticipatory shipping is a method of shipping patented by e commerce giant Amazon in December 2013. During the normal shipping process, an e commerce retailer or goods manufacturer receives a customer order specifying the exact address where the product is to be delivered. The company then prepares the package and hands it over to a shipping service provider such as FedEx for delivery. The delay of multiple days between order placement and actual delivery is a major impediment to the wide acceptance of e commerce. It forces e commerce companies to offer incentives like cash on delivery to their customers. Anticipatory shipping is aimed at cutting the delivery time and improving the experience for e commerce users. With this technique, a company will ship products even before an order is placed by a customer. It would specify only a partial address indicating destination geographical area for delivery. While the packages are in transit, the company will employ advanced analytics and forecasting techniques to predict which customers would want to buy the shipped products. Then it could use targeted marketing and sales promotions to induce such customers to buy the products. If a customer indeed places an order, the company would provide exact delivery address to the shipping service provider and the products could be delivered much quicker, even on the same day. How a shipping network operates? A shipping service provider picks the packages from the fulfillment centers of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Speech On Endangered Elephants Jessica Lester Mrs.Gallos English 3 8 November, 2017 Endangered Elephants Elephant numbers fell dramatically in the 19th and 20th centuries ( Elephants). Due to poaching and ivory trade the Elephant population had been dramatically dwindling. Habitat loss is another major contributor to the decrease in these extraordinary animals. There are many different things you can do to help slow their decline in population. Raising awareness about this problem could help us save the Elephants. The Elephant is the largest land mammal on Earth ( Elephant | Species | WWF. ). As you can imagine, Elephants need a lot of food, land, water and space to roam with their herd. The rainforests they call home are being cut down, causing them to migrate closer to humans. This causes elephants to get into farmers crops, putting them at risk of being killed. Elephants use their trunks to dig for food, water and strip the bark off of trees ( African Elephant | National Geographic. ). Only the male elephants use their tusks to battle each other. Elephants are very fond of water and Elephants ears radiate heat to help keep these large animals cool, but sometimes the African heat is too much, ( African Elephant | National Geographic. ). The Asian elephant is very intelligent. It is one of the only land mammals known to recognize itself in the mirror ( Asian Elephant. ). Asian elephants are much smaller than African elephants. They have much smaller ears and tusks. They are also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Analysis Of Walt Disney s Snow White, Dumbo Walt Disney, animator, cartoonist, and entrepreneur, was a man of incredible vision and passion. He fundamentally transformed the entertainment industry in America. Prior to Walt Disney Studios, the art of animation was simply a moving comic strip, void of sound or color and generally constrained to short vignettes featuring friendly characters like cats. Disney was the first to innovate a system of animation on a large scale, capable of producing feature length films. Snow White, Dumbo, Pinocchio these productions revolutionized the film industry in a way never seen previously. Walt Disney continues to be a cultural phenomenon, a household name spoken to this day by children across the world. This romanticized image of Walt Disney conveniently forgets one of the darkest moments in the famous visionary s past. The day was May 29th, 1941. Over three hundred Disney Studios employees walked out of their jobs and began to form picket lines surrounding the company buildings. The strikers held high colorful signs featuring famous Disney cartoon characters like Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck one poster displayed a picture of Pluto the Dog, reading I d rather be a dog than a scab! The workers marched on strike against Walt Disney Studios. The outrage of Disney s employees clearly demonstrated their unhappiness with the way the company s workers were being treated. The day before the strike commenced, on May 28th, 1941, Disney told his workers: This studio will never make ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. The Underlying Cause Of Veteran Suicide Complex issues in society are often observed, studied, and researched by respective experts in one particular field. Veteran suicide is one of those issue where this type of academics can sometimes lead to a very narrow view and simplistic solution to the complex issue being observed, studied, or researched. Integrative studies is the study of two or more traditional disciplines in different categories, but excludes the applied fields and professions. As Repko states typical categories include the natural sciences; the social sciences; the humanities; the fine and performing arts; communication; business; architecture; engineering; law; etc... (Repko, Interdisciplinary Research Process and Theory 2nd ed., 2012) This paper will explore two different disciplines to research and identify what are the underlying cause of Veteran suicide and is there a way to combine the two disciplines, biological and psychological into a comprehensive research paper to help prevent suicide in the Armed Forces. An integrative study involves the combining of two or more academic disciplines into one activity. Interdisciplinary research requires an understanding of the disciplines. (Repko, Interdisciplinary Research Process and Theory 2nd ed., 2012) It is not enough to simply know of the discipline, but extensive research into a discipline being used to solve a complex issue is needed to find a true interdisciplinary solution. • 9. Different Ways Of Implementing Css Styles Into Html Dean Cartner CSS (P1) There are 3 different ways of implementing CSS styles into html. These are internal, external and inline. External is when you have a file that only contains CSS code in it and is saved with .css at the end. External sheets are referenced in the HTML code using link . You need to link it from all HTML pages. Doing so means you only need to set the styles once. This comes in useful if you want to change the styles later on as you only have to do it in the one place. This is an example. Internal is when you place all the CSS code in the head section of the code so between head and /head . As opposed to the external css you don t need to create a rule for each HTML element. This is an example of internal CSS code. Inline is CSS style that is applied to only one element by using the style attributes which means you can only apply the style you want to a certain instance. These are fairly straight forward and quick to make which means you don t have to create a seperate document or create a new element for it in the head section. This is an example. (M1) I am going to explain functions, advantages and disadvantages of External and Inline which are two different ways to implement CSS. There are several advantages for using external CSS including the fact that it gives you total control of the layout and structure of your page which allows you to keep the website and the content separate in your code. ... • 10. The Media And The Issue Of Illegal Immigration Paper #1: Discuss how the different media outlets frame the issue of illegal immigration? It is commonly known that media coverage of anything controversial can be faulty, and biased. ABC News and CCN News could cover the same story, in different ways. This is amplified in cases that affect different audiences (as in age, race, financial class), because certain stations are aimed towards a certain audience. A great example of this is FOX and FOX Latino. The two stations, though sister stations, have very different approaches on certain topics, one being illegal immigration. FOX tends to be very biased, while FOX Latino gives direct facts. Most people would assume that FOX and FOX Latino, sister stations, would have rather similar ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They covered the controversy very differently. FOX Latino has an audience that is concerned about this problem of illegal immigration, and the problems the immigrants themselves are having. This is obvious by looking at the articles they have. These articles and news clips gives statistics of the hardships that the immigrants are facing, and discuss solutions to said difficulties. For example, On September 22nd, 2015 they posted an article titled Number of immigrant families, children arrested at border jumps more than 50%. Unlike some of their previous articles (IE What Happens to US Born Kids of Deported Undocumented Immigrants?) which was very involved and emotional, this one is rather detached. However, it does discuss theories on why this is a continuing problem, and why it changes throughout the year. FOX Latino is there to give information on illegal immigration, possible solutions, etc. They give the unbiased facts. FOX news has very different coverage on the subject. They are clearly fixated on discussing the problems that illegal immigration causes to them (middle class (white) America). For example, on September 14th, 2015 FOX reporter Kimberly Guilfoyle went viral for allegedly comparing immigrants to a brain tumor. In the next few days (September 16th, 2015) they publish an article Elusive crime wave data shows frightening toll of illegal immigrant criminals. This article was very negative towards the idea ... • 11. Scotland s Rural Economic Crisis A rural economic crisis occurred as there was a decline of people working the land. The highland population between the years of 1921 1930 witnessed a decrease of 13.8% in the highland counties alone. This can be explained through an increase in emigration, loss of life from World War One and a general decline in agriculture. The 1920 s saw an overall increase in emigration from Scotland, many of these came from rural areas. An explanation into rural emigration could be in response to the land raids that were occurring during this time. Land raids were carried out mainly by ex servicemen who were under the illusion, they would be rewarded in land for war efforts. Therefore, showing the impact of the interwar years upon rural society in Scotland. Another industry that suffered post war was the fishing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, during the interwar years, it became evident there was problems. The cost of fuel was rising and fishermen struggled to keep up with the rising cost, while trying to restore their boats to a pre war state. Significantly, the fishing industry lost their traditional export markets in Germany, Russia and many Eastern European countries. Therefore, resulting in a decline of Scotland s fishing industry. It is evident, Scotland s economy was in ruins after the war, the reliance upon staple industries witnessed a domino effect that spread throughout Scotland. Which resulted in the interwar depression. However, it also had a substantial impact upon Scotland s employment levels. The interwar depression witnessed the emergence of mass unemployment. Scotland s recession was deeper and more sustained than in England, resulting in higher levels of unemployment and a social crisis. Notably, unemployment levels varied across industries, regions and demographic groups. Unemployment rates were twice as high for men than they were for women, males aged between 55 59 and 18 24 experienced higher rates ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Persuasive Essay On Chopsticks Rough Draft: Forks [NEED BETTER TITLE] Just as his dad didn t require him to speak Japanese, my dad didn t require me to use chopsticks. Both must have decided at some point that passing along cultural heritage in these particular forms was too much of a hassle. Becoming familiar with other things, like literature in English, Calculus, Bob Dylan, Charlie Chaplin, and Baseball, took priority. Perhaps this is the process known as Americanization, although both of them were already as American as they come well before I was born. Compared to the many important parenting decisions that would surely play a role in determining my identity, whether or not to train me on chopsticks at a young age was a barely noticeable fork in the road. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Why use a fork when eating with hands is both faster and cheaper? Contributing to its slow adoption, the fork also shared traits with the pitchfork or trident of the devil along with the connotation of the forked tongue, not exactly the epitome of truthfulness that would be desired in an everyday object. By the 11th century some people had adopted the use of the fork (Goldsmith). However, its use was uncommon and its users were sometimes ridiculed for their seemingly unnecessary use. One princes is described by saying that she deigned not to touch her food with her fingers, but would command her eunuchs to cut it up into small pieces, which she would impale on a certain golden instrument with two prongs and thus carry to her mouth (Goldsmith). Clearly at this time forks were not yet for everyone but only for a few of the upper class. Forks were not widely adopted until the industrial revolution which allowed the mass production of the silver plated utensils for all (Goldsmith). At this point many commoners could afford to not only own a fork but a whole set of silverware (Goldsmith). • 14. Sexually Transmitted Diseases ( Std ) Essay Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD) are one of the most common and preventable health care problems in the world. The ageism of the population and the increase in the number of older adults, along with healthcare advances that provide better and longer quality of life, has encourage changes in sexuality amongst older adults. This increase has prompted healthcare workers to familiarize themselves with the sexuality of older adults. In this report, I plan to discuss the significance of this topic, the concern for the public, and interventions that can be implemented from a Community Health Nurse prospective. The term Sexually Transmitted Disease refers to a vast amount of infectious organisms that include viruses and bacteria which are transmitted primarily through sexual intercourse. Modes of transmission also include non sexual activities such as needles sharing during drug use, blood transfusions and vertical transmission from mother to child. STD surveillance and prevention measures are often geared towards adolescent and young adult populations, thus leaving the older adult population unrecognized and vulnerable. The challenges that this population faces are directly related to psychosocial, physiological, economic and behavioral factors. Challenges such as these can cause serious obstacles for the prevention of STDs due to their influence on access to care, willingness to seek treatment, and social behaviors regarding sexuality. Often older adults are looked at as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Baroque is distinguished by the grander sense of space in architecture, intense emotion and movement in painting and sculpture. Opulence and grandeur is often displayed in the ostentatious interiors homes of the elite and the church was highly decorated. Some similarities between Baroque and Renaissance eras, is the strong use of light and shade to create depth and realism. The word Baroque derives from the Portuguese word barocco which seems to imply an irregularly shaped or imperfect pearl. Which is quite ironic since Baroque design was anything but imperfect. Rococo The style of the Rococo period can be characterised as being playful and asymmetrical as opposed to that of Baroque. Other types of magic can include healing, protection, divination, etc. Also it is important to note that while all Wiccans are witches, not all witches are Wiccans as witches can be of any faith. Another key aspect of being a Wiccan is being a pagan or neopagan. As defined by Prudence Jones from the Pagan Federation International, pagan is a term used to describe a follower of a polytheistic or pantheistic nature worshipping religion, while neopagan is a term used to describe those whose religions, as Eric A. Powell states in his article Solstice at the Stones, consist of modern beliefs inspired by ancient religious practices (36). According to Jones, the term neopagan is also used to describe all those [religions] who are recognisably [sic] Pagan, but who do not adhere to any of the standard [pagan] traditions. However, since most pagans today are actually neopagans as Powell explains, modern pagans are more interested in evolving and cultivating their own practices rather than trying to emulate traditional, ancient practices (41) often neopagans are simply referred to as pagans. According Jones, besides finding nature sacred, many pagan religions are polytheistic with many believing in at least a god and a goddess. Again it is important to note that while all Wiccans are pagans, not all pagans are Wiccans. For example, according to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 22. Sociological Theories Of Criminology Criminology in the beginning was ruled as the classical school of thought and was looked at as crime being a product of rational choice that can be controlled with some form of deterrence method. Since then it has been expanded on with new developed ideas of why crime is committed, including theories that say that biological, psychological and sociological issues are the causes for crime. Biological theories say that crime is caused by genetic or physical defects, with treatment being effective only with the reduction of aggression. Earlier ideas were phrenology, atavism, criminal behavior in families, and somatotypes, then progressing with later theories of biosocial arousal, behavior genetics, and autonomic nervous system to name a few. The causes can range from diet, physical or neurological defects, or just born bad. There have been cases were individuals have been known to receive blows to the head causing them to have some form of head trauma that has been linked to criminal behavior. Psychological theories are that development during formative years of personality defects are the reason crime is committed. It is therefore believed that crime is caused by an imbalance of the ID, superego, and ego. The claim is that crime is because of a lack of proper development during early years of life. Sociological Theories says that a persons place in society determines if they will commit a crime. Blaming factors for their criminal behavior such as lack of equal ...
