A Letter To A Little Princess
To the Little Princess: This is an open letter to my favorite friend, Sara Crewe, the best princess
forever. My little princess, you are the lighthouse of hope above the dark ocean of hardship;
beside, you are my admired girl who taught me how to get through the plight and predicament on
myself during my childhood. Your unfettered imaginations, positive attitudes, and mighty
adversity quotient all are lessons enlightened me so much till now. Therefore, I usually call you
a butterfly against flowing wind , that a pretty and seemingly weak butterfly with incredible
power. To speak specifically, Sara, you have an unlimited and unfettered visions wherever you
are; also, you always keep your sunny, positive outlooks whatever you are. And, I love all your
imaginations whenever I am. Without a princess suit, or the crown, you are a special one in the
school. More than a so called princess, you are a real princess cause you have a powerful heart.
You knew the hardship, or exclusion from the peer, but you never thought they are the most
relentless enemies in your life; you even felt the sorrow of losing your dear papa, however you
never considered that would beat you; then you suffered the falling difference from a popular girl
at school to a unfed worker, however you never forgot you were a princess. I love your speaking:
Whatever comes cannot alter one thing. If I am a princess in rags and tatters, I can be a princess
inside. It would be easy to be a princess if I were dressed

St. Athanasius Against Arian Heresy
St. Athanasius Against the Arian Heresy
The St. Athanasius greatly impacted the Arian heresy. The Arian heresy was very well rooted, and
St. Athanasius is recognized as the main Church Father to fight it. The heresy of Arianism started
in the early 300s. It was starting to gain followers, so the Church called for the Council of Nicea.
The Nicene Creed was made during this Council, and it rebuked the teachings of Arianism, which
made it an heresy. Arianism soon rose back from the ashes, and many Church members were
turning to it out of fear or corruption. St. Athanasius stayed strong throughout all of this,
continuing to preach and write of the heresies of Arianism. He survived five exiles and died
peacefully in his bed in the Alexandrian See. Arianism didn t just appear out of thin air, it had a
start just like all other heresies. The founder of Arianism was Arius. Arius was a priest in
Alexandria, who had studied in Antioch. Some of the subjects of his studies were the works of
Origen, Neoplatonism, and Gnosticism. He then started to preach that Jesus was sent by the Father,
however not equal to the Father. He said that Jesus was only called the Son of God because of his
heroics. Athanasius was the main opponent of this heresy,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The Circular Letter was in response to Gregory of Cappadocia s intrusion into the Alexandrian
See. He wrote about Gregory sending Jews and barbarians into the churches of Alexandria to
attack the people, how the Jews were making sacrifices of birds on the altar, and how monks were
beaten and killed. He also wrote that Gregory allowed these men to plunder the church, in order to
win them over fully. Athanasius then shows in his writing how Gregory was supported by the
Arians, and that the Arians are doing this to keep him out. Athanasius ends the letter with an appeal
to the other members of the Church to get Gregory out of

Major trends in the general environment
Jamba Juice has tried to capture a good portion of health conscious consumers by providing healthy
smoothies and other nutritious foods for customers on the go. Even though there are direct
competitors such as Planet Smoothie, Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, Panera Bread and McDonalds,
Jamba Juice remains competitive by offering its unique blend of smoothies. They are made with
real fruit and 100% fruit juices that are blended to order. They are also rich in vitamins, minerals,

Jamba remains a tough competitor due to its healthy menu.
Threat of Rivalry
Threat of rivalry is high as Jamba is competing against several brand name rivals that have the
ability to influence the industry. Jamba Juice is offering similar foods as the rest of its competition,
many of which are much larger, thus it tries to differentiate itself by offering healthy alternatives to
its competitor s products.
Threat of Buyers
The threat of buyers is high. Since there are many products and restaurants to choose from, Jamba
must provide a memorable and pleasant experience to its customers to entice them to return. In
addition, it must continue its marketing strategy of informing the public of the benefits of its
products in an effort to keep up its clientele. However, Jamba Juice must ensure that marketing
strategies don t become too costly and cut into its profits.
Threat of Suppliers
The threat of suppliers is high for Jamba Juice since it depends heavily on high quality supplies of
fresh fruits and vegetables throughout the year. It had to find distributors that were willing to flash
freeze the produce and agree to store it at their facilities until it was ready to be shipped to stores. In
order to lower distribution costs, the company must cluster future store developments.

Examples Of Damsel In Distress

CHAPTER I: TYPES OF REPRESENTATION OF WOMEN IN VIDEO GAMES
1.1. Damsel in distress One of the most widely used clichГ©s in video games is Damsel in
distress. The word comes from French demoiselle, which means young lady . Demoiselle en
detresse translates into damsel in distress . As a trope the damsel in distress is a plot device in
which a female character is placed in a perilous situation from which she cannot escape on her own
and must be rescued by a male character, usually providing a core incentive or motivation for the
protagonist s quest.
First known example of the Damsel in distress can be seen in the myth about Perseus and his wife

The protagonist Booker DeWitt, is sent there to find a young lady called Elizabeth, who has
been held captive by her father Zachary Comstock in a tower for most of her life. The scenario
sounds to be the classic example of Damsel in distress, but when Booker reaches the tower, he
realizes that she is not so gentle, helpless and defenseless as he thinks. She is unlike any
character that I have seen in a game, especially when you play through the entire thing and you
see how she evolves. DeWitt manages to rescue Elizabeth and they both get involved in the city
s conflict, during which she shows her strange, but strong superpowers. Her character is well
rounded. Her backstory is interesting and complex. Her flaws and the way she expresses
emotions makes her more real and human. She s resourceful and quick witted, with the ability
to break codes and pick locks like they re nothing (being locked in a tower with nothing but
books means she s got a lot of hobbies). Elizabeth has no experience with shooting and fighting,
but she effectively helps Booker. She looks for ammunition and health kits and provides them to
the main character. Her participation plays a vital role during battles. Elizabeth even saves
Booker life few times. That time Elizabeth gave him CRP on the beach when he almost drowned,
or that time she caught him with a blimp to save him from falling off the city, or that time she
gave herself up to Songbird to save his life. Elizabeth is essential to succeed. There is also no
sexual undertone in her relationship with Booker. Creative director of Irrational Games, said that In
terms of her body type, I think certainly people on the Internet have spent way more time thinking
about Elizabeth s chest than I have, he said. It s something I ve barely thought about. Levine said it

Power And Corruption In A Tale Of Two Cities
Throughout all of human history, many influential beings have exploited varying forms of human
nature s prominence, as well as its true darkness. There have been many cases to humans acting out
of pure righteousness by standing by and supporting their true and sincere morals, whereas others
have revealed the deep evil within us through acts of brutality, savagery, or manipulation. Percy
Bysshe Shelley one wrote, Power, like a desolating pestilence, Pollutes whate er it touches . This
quote expresses Shelley s opinion that power does not come without corruption. I support Shelley s
assertion because her belief can be proven not only through examples from the book, A Tale of
Two Cities , but can also be found in historical event, as well as human nature in general.... Show

On the other hand, however, those who were consumed by the corruption possessed weaker minds
with not as righteous morals. One may conclude that, because humans are not born with
immediate mental fortitude, it may be a part of human nature to be corrupted by power. In
Charles Dickens famous novel, A Tale of Two Cities , many situations that have involved
corruption through power revolved around an individual that uses that power for a selfish reason,
such as entertainment or revenge. An example of this would be when the Marquis of France
abused their royal titles. By having a high rank in the social class, the Marquis used their titles to
live lives of luxury while the rest of society suffered in extreme poverty. This example from the
book depicts a darker characteristic of selfishness in human nature, which contributes to

Self-Reliance In Thoreau And Ralph Waldo Emerson
SELF RELIANCE
Self Reliance is to depend on one s own powers and resources rather than the influence, opinions,
and directives of others. Emerson s concept of self reliance is that each person should listen to
their inner voice, instead of others around them. Emerson speaks strongly on how others tend to
follow the popular choice, or the crowd that leads the way but does not to follow one s conscious
and what one truly feels. When Emerson says you find those who think they know your duty
better than you know it he hopes to advice people, to trust their own choices and decisions; instead
of those who feel like they have it all out for you.
Thoreau and Emerson has both stressed of the idea of self reliance in their works. Thoreau and
Waldo both accept that nature is what strengthens us not to depend on others thoughts but to rely
on our own. Like Emerson preaches, Thoreau looked to live a simple life, in order to discover
deeper meaning in life. Emerson wants to, get the whole and genuine meanness of it meaning he

Thoreau leaped into the woods with an attempt to experience on his own, and to learn for himself
what self reliance truly was. As Thoreau farther learned what self reliance was from experience,
including his own imagination, he was a man who could faithfully say he took action into what he
preached. Thoreau and Emerson both came to the thought that people rely on the government to a
horrible extent , when determining things that take place or choices for them. Thoreau followed
that by saying people must do what they feel is right; they have an obligation NOT to support what
they feel is wrong as he refer to those in society, that is still allowing themselves to get caught up in
other inner thoughts and feels, instead of speaking out and think for

The issue for Middle School students at SMS are the Chromebooks. The biggest problems

Genetic Relatedness Between Modern Humans And Neandertals...
a.Provide a brief summary of what we know about the genetic relatedness between modern humans,
neandertals and chimpanzees
Neandertals are similar to humans across most of the genome. They are about as similar as two
humans are to each other. However, in some parts of the Neandertal genome Neandertals had more
in common with chimpanzees than with humans. This shows that humans went through many
changes to make them different than chimps. According to Svante Paabo, Neandertals contributed
very little to the genetic makeup of modern humans. Researchers think that people who are lactose
intolerant may have inherited this gene from the Neandertals. FOXP2 gene is the gene that is
associated with speech in humans. Researchers found that it was also a gene in Neandertals. This
could mean that Neandertals could speak. Humans and chimps are only 1% different.
b.How can such a small DNA difference between humans and chimps create such large physical
and functional differences?

d.How might a gene that controls chewing influence the size of our brains?
In humans we have a genetic glitch (missing two letters) in the muscle making gene that controls
chewing. It only allows us to chew with the fraction of force that an ape does. Humans and
chimps have several independent bone plates in our skulls that let our heads get bigger as we
grow. The jaw muscle pulls against these plates. In an ape the forces can be enormous. All of this
power forces an ape s skull plates to fuse together at an early age, putting limits on how much the
brain can grow. In an human the plates remain open for growth until about age 30. This allows us
to make space for our brain to grow.
e.What did studies on individuals with microcephaly tell us about the genes involved in brain
growth? How do these genes compare in humans and

Uberx Should Be Legalized In Canada Case Study
An issue that is hotly debated is should UberX be allowed in Toronto. Some think that yes,
UberX should be allowed in Toronto but others think that it should not be allowed. Yes I know
UberX has been legalized, but this argument is fighting against the legalization. It is clear that
overall UberX should not be allowed in Toronto. More Toronto citizens are disregarding UberX.
People have realized that though the rates may be low the risk of something happening is high,
because UberX s drivers are untrained and background checks are limited. Although UberX s
rates may be low, the can spike up in times of high demand. During storms and rush hour the fair
can double, even triple in cost. The finally reason is that the low rates are unfair to other cab
companies, because other cab companies actually hire people as a job, UberX is just for people
who want to make extra money.
Another reason UberX should not be allowed in Toronto is because the UberX drivers have not
had to go through special training to become a cab driver. All they have too present is a driver s
license, have a background check and present a functioning car. The background check includes a
driving record and a criminal check. Well the background check may seem significant, it does not

Social media has emerged as the most powerful form of communication these days. The ability to
voice an opinion from anywhere over anything has coined and popularized the term Global
Citizen. Many social platforms available these days provide the avenues for the companies and
organization to make a brand for themselves by directly engaging with their customers. If you don

After extracting the features, a summarized opinion is concreted based on those features.
1.3Techniques for Opinion Mining
Opinion mining (also known as sentiment analysis) focuses mainly on two things, first identifying
whether the text is subjective or objective and then determining the polarity of the subject [3].
Opinion words in the text mostly contribute towards the subjectivity of the text. These opinion
words together inform about the emotional context of the text. Objective words contribute towards
the factual construct of the text. There are three most common approaches used for determining the
sentimental content of a text
В¬Lexical Analysis
This is basically a dictionary approach. The text under analysis is converted into tokens. Each
token is then matched with the dictionary. If the match is positive, it increments the total score of
the text so far, else there is a decrement in the text score if there is a negative match. For example,
the word beautiful will increment the total score since it is a positive match. It is a basic but very
efficient technique. One major drawback of this approach is that its accuracy and efficiency
degrades drastically with the growth of the size of the dictionary

Presidential Election Process Of The United States
Presidential Election Process The election process in the United States can be overwhelming and
confusing. Firstly, how a citizen can be eligible to become a Presidential candidate? What are the
requirements or the qualifications that a person needs to be a candidate? With that in mind, the
candidates get to sponsor for their electoral campaigns from what type of funds and from whom?
People need to know the type of character that a candidate demonstrates. America has become very
demanding. There are a lot of things that consume our lives and we are not giving enough
importance to the ElectionsProcess. The U.S. Census found that only 47 percent of eligible adults
with family incomes of less than $20,000 a year voted in the 2012 presidential election, compared to
80 percent of those whose earnings exceeded $100,000. Overall, only 19 percent of likely voters
come from families with incomes of less than $30,000 a year, even though that same group
comprises 46 percent of nonvoters. Americans should get more involved in the election process for
our democracy to continue because only a certain part of the population vote and get involved in the
process. The United Statesis a hectic place to live; many people say they are too busy to wait in
line to vote. A survey executed by the California Voter Foundation (CVF) found, that there are 6.4

Student Learning Styles Paper
In the classroom it is important to collect information regarding students learning styles, readiness
level, and what hinders the student from learning. Creating instructions take time due to students
having different learning styles. Collecting data will help support the differentiated instructions that
teachers will use in the classroom to ensure all students have the capabilities to gain the knowledge
and skills needed to be successful in the classroom. Before gathering data on students, teachers must
be aware of their strengths and weaknesses to be able to help students beyond their understanding.
There are eight multiple intelligences teachers can use to incorporate differentiated instructions to
increase student learning. Gaining this kind of data will give teachers the information needed to
guide students throughout the classroom. Before teachers start a new unit or lesson the purpose
and learning goals must be established. Upon establishing these learning goals teachers will need to

Teachers can build relationships and trust from students by creating an environment where students
are comfortable and feel like they can be themselves. When the relationship and trust has been

Essay On Nanoswimmers
Wirelessly controlled nanoscale robots can be used for in vitro and in vivo biochemical
application and are usually based on (or mimic) the rotary motion of helical bacterial flagella for
propulsion. However, researchers still have not been able to create a man made nanohelix that has
the ability to change its geometry in response to multiple environmental factor. In other words, it
cannot adapt. Thus, a team of researchers led by Kim, examine the bacterial flagella and how they
change their helical form in response to environmental stimuli by studying three flagellar forms.
The team of researches were able to show that the ability to steer the devices and induce flagellar

The normal run tumble behavior observed in swimming chemotaxis was mainly suppressed and
the cells were continuously reoriented by random jostling by their neighbors which randomized
their directions in a few tenths of a second. On the other hand, at the edge of the swarm, cells
usually paused and then swam back toward the center of the swarm or along its edge. Hence, the
properties of the interior of the monolayer was different than the properties of its outer edge. Thus,
the local alignment among cells was accomplished by cell body collision and short range
hydrodynamic interactions.
While there s a fairly good understanding of how bacteria regulate, assemble and rotate their
flagella to swim in liquid media, little is still known about how some bacteria is able to use their
flagella in order to move over the tops of solids otherwise known as swarming. Thus, Kearns
studied what is needed in swarming motility in diverse bacterial model systems such as an increase
in the number of flagella per cell, secretion of a surfactant to reduce surface tension for spreading
and movement in multicellular groups. Therefore, Kearns was able to determine that swarming
motility generally requires an energy rich, solid medium, however, the specific conditions that
support swarming depends on the organism in question. Swarming was enhanced by high growth
rates that may account for

The Mill On The Floss
In George Eliot s The Mill on the Floss, one of the long, resounding themes of the novel is the
nature of love and how it changes people over time. While a loving nature is generally regarded as
a noble if not redeemable trait in literary characters, especially in Victorian literature where the idea
of marrying for lovewas gaining popularity, protagonist Maggie Tulliver subverted that idea. It was
because of Maggie s all consuming familial love for her brother Tom, platonic love for Philip, and
romantic love for Stephen that directly caused her ultimate downfall and death.

most important in her life. The two were incredibly close as ... Show more content on

To be fair, Tom was a child who had just found out his pets were killed, so it s understandable that
he would be angry and lash out. However, this was the first of many times throughout the novel that
Maggie displease Tom in some way, be swiftly and harshly punished for it, and return to Tom
wholeheartedly whenever it suited him to apologize.
The next time that the two siblings fought was the infamous pastry debacle, in which Tom had
stolen two pastries for them to share and let Maggie decide who would get the bigger one.
Maggie insisted that he take the bigger pastry, but Tom countered by telling her it was alright for
her to take it. He then seethed in anger as they ate together when she did indeed take the prefered
pastry and he called her greedy. Tom s motivations for doing this are never made entirely clear.
Was it a trick question? Was he testing Maggie to see if she would still put him first even when
he said not to? But that was the trick, that she thought she was being respectful and putting Tom
first by taking his permission to accept the larger pastry for herself. Maggie could never seem to

finally boiled over in childhood when she ran away to live with gypsies anything to not have to

Reggae as a Means of Social Transformation Through The Voices of the Rastafari
Jamaica, the third largest Caribbean island is not only home to tropical weather and picturesque
landscapes, but also to social unrest and perhaps some of the most rebellious people. Since its
existence, this nation has seen a series of revolutions and riots in efforts to reverse the unjust social,
economic, and political conditions. The most influential of these revolutionary efforts contributed
to the formation of Jamaica s very own religious movement, Rastafarianism. With oppression
serving as one of the driving forces for the Rastafari Movement, it is understandable why its
followers are so adamant about professing their ideologies, beliefs and practices. The central
language used to express the grievances of Rastafarians is known globally as the music genre,
Reggae. It is not merely coincidental that the country pregnant with such radical motives also gave
birth to its own music brand. By examining the music of artists such as Bob Marley, Dennis
Brown, Luciano and more, we can deduce that Reggae music served and continues to serve as the
most prominent vehicle for the spread of Rastafarianism.
The Rastafari Movement emerged in Jamaica in the 1930s out of desires to defeat the crippling
British colonial culture and to establish an identity based on the reclamation of African heritage.

History of Calculus Essay
History of Calculus
The history of calculus falls into several distinct time periods, most notably the ancient, medieval,
and modern periods. The ancient period introduced some of the ideas of integral calculus, but does
not seem to have developed these ideas in a rigorous or systematic way. Calculating volumes and
areas, the basic function of integral calculus, can be traced back to the Egyptian Moscow papyrus
(c. 1800 BC), in which an Egyptian successfully calculated the volume of a pyramidal
frustum.[1][2] From the school of Greek mathematics, Eudoxus (c. 408 #8722;355 BC) used the
method of exhaustion, which prefigures the concept of the limit, to calculate areas and volumes
while Archimedes (c. 287 #8722;212 BC) developed this idea ... Show more content on

In Europe, the second half of the 17th century was a time of major innovation. Calculus provided a
new opportunity in mathematical physics to solve long standing problems. Several mathematicians
contributed to these breakthroughs, notably John Wallis and Isaac Barrow. James Gregory proved
a special case of the second fundamental theorem of calculus in AD 1668.
Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz was originally accused of plagiarism of Sir Isaac Newton s unpublished
works, but is now regarded as an independent inventor and contributor towards calculus.
Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz was originally accused of plagiarism of Sir Isaac Newton s unpublished
works, but is now regarded as an independent inventor and contributor towards calculus.
Leibniz and Newton pulled these ideas together into a coherent whole and they are usually credited
with the independent and nearly simultaneous invention of calculus. Newton was the first to apply
calculus to general physics and Leibniz developed much of the notation used in calculus today; he
often spent days determining appropriate symbols for concepts. The basic insight that both Newton
and Leibniz had was the fundamental theorem of calculus.

Transcendentalist Utopia in Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry...
Of the scores of utopian concepts within the 1800 s, most remarkable of the influx was the birth of
Transcendentalism. The roots of their religious philosophy extend much farther back into American
history, but in essence, rests in the context of Unitarianism. It s origins also reach overseas to
Romanticism, from which they drew inspiration from. Transcendentalismwas an important
movement that shaped the course of American literature, it s assertions commonly taking shape in
novels, poems, short stories, and essays, the most famous of authors including Ralph Waldo
Emersonand Henry David Thoreau. Transcendentalists sought for their sentiments to be present in
the United States, to redefine man in response to the changing context of America. Since it s
emergence in the 1820 s, Transcendentalism had lasting religious, social, and political implications
on the order of society. Unitarianism had developed as a branch of the liberal wing of Christianity,
which had separated from the Orthodox Christianity during the First Great Awakening. Unitarians
value the hallmarks of Christian Enlightenment , and it s philosophy stressed the importance of
voluntary ethical conduct (Emergence of Transcendentalism). Yet, the Transcendentalists felt
something was absent in Unitarianism; the sobriety, mildness, and calm rationalism, failed to
satisfy the Transcendentalists whom yearned for a more intense spiritual experience (Emergence of
Transcendentalism). For Transcendentalists,

The Battle Of The Qing Dynasty
I Got Up and Struggled On
The Nineteenth and early twentieth centuries were ripe with wars and rebellions in China. Such
instances included the Opium wars, the Taiping Rebellion, the Japanese invasions, and the Boxer
Rebellion. China has a long history with opium. The Chinese were alarmed at the fact that there
were astoundingly high rates of opium addiction among its population that it decided to cease trade
with the British. The British were unhappy that China had ceased imports of opium that they
launched a naval offensive. The Qing dynasty was embarrassingly defeated. The Taiping Rebellion

If you were a peasant in China, life was difficult. It was especially difficult if you were a woman.
Women living in China had very few rights, and were expected to be subservient to men. Chinese
women were expected to stay close to home so that they could execute their duties. A physical
sign of this expectation is through the practice known as foot binding. Women would bind their
feet so that they would not wander far from the home. Women were expected to have an escort
when they left their house. If women did not have an escort, they were subject to public ridicule,
or sometimes they would be taken. In the book A Daughter of Han: The Autobiography of a
Chinese Working Woman, written by Ning Lao T ai T ai we see the consequences of what
happens when Ning s granddaughter goes out alone to shop: When my granddaughter was in
middle school and came home one summer, she went to P englai. She and her companions
wanted to do some shopping, they wanted some shoes. Not a shoe shop would let them in. The
clerks stood across the front of the shops and held out their arms. In each place they said, We have
no shoes here. (Lao T ai T ai, Ning, 177)
It was an embarrassment for a woman to be seen out alone. Women were married off early through
the practice of arranged marriage. Opportunities were extremely limited for women in China. Many

The Secession Of The Civil War
Secession Paper Assignment After Abraham Lincoln was elected president in 1860, politicians
in the southern states wished to secede from the northern states. President Lincoln opposed
slavery and hoped to get rid of this act in any state that practiced it. The southern states viewed
Lincoln s vision as a threat to those states who supported slavery and they believed that having
an anti slavery president would endanger the states in many ways. For this reason, South
Carolina became the first to secede six weeks after Lincoln became president and later on more
states to follow the secession (lecture). The states who seceded became known as the Confederate
states and the conflict resulted in the civil war which lasted from 1861 to 1865 (lecture). The
secession all falls back to the disagreement between the North and the South s different views on
slavery based on three different factors which were geographic positioning, economic power and
man power. Not all southern states seceded from the Union. The wave of secession varied between
the Upper South, Middle South and Deep South states. The geographic positioning was an
important factor that determined how much influence slavery had on the states. The Deep South
states, which included South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and
Texas, were the states who were the most dependent on slavery. The reason for this is because the
soil in this region was the best for growing crops. Most wealthy white men

The Brain, The Hippocampus And The Striatum ( Jacobsen ...
There are two essential learning sections in the brain, the hippocampus and the striatum (Jacobsen
Forste, 2011). Focused learners are individuals who pay full attention in class and are not easily
distracted by their mobile devices. These individuals utilize the hippocampus which is typically the
heart of the memory and the learning center of the brain. These students have the ability of thinking
in high level scenarios and typically end up with higher paying jobs than those that are categorized
as multitaskers (Jacobsen Forste, 2011). Multitaskers are those that do two or three things at once
and are therefore not focusing on getting one task accomplished (Boyd, 2014). Such students use
the area of the brain known as the striatum. This manner of learning is not an adverse learning
approach; however, this area of the brain is for learning habits. Multitasking is usually right for
those that want to work on assembly lines. Students that graduate with degrees typically aim for
high paying jobs and in order to achieve this they must shut down their laptops and phones and pay
attention in their classes. A startling fact is just how dependent and almost fixated college students
are when it comes to accessing the internet. A few studies such as that of Jacobsen Forste, (2011)
have highlighted that most students consider the Internet as fundamental as food, shelter, water and
air. These thoughts are highly astonishing. Most of these students find that the internet is more

livestock loss is not only due below normal rangeland condition (rain fall) but also as a result
above normal condition. It is well known that pastoralists in Borena keep their livestock in

the IBLI in the area does not provide coverage for such losses rather the coverage is offered
against a loss due to drought. During the survey time more than 60% of households were fully

found to be 17.81 with mean difference of 2.04 herds between the two counter parts. The
direction of the influence is also fount negative as expected but the deviation was not at
statistically significant level. With similar hypothesis it is also observed an increment in the
annual income of the IBLI purchaser but still the difference is not at a statistically significant
level. Expenditure on veterinary and/ or forage was expected to negatively affect herd offtake. The
data reveals that the average annual expenditure on livestock probably for veterinary and forage
expenses is Birr 701.71. The insured herding farmers had invested on average Birr 182.83 more
than uninsured counterparts. From this large mean difference, we can infer that there is a strong
correlation between willingness to spend on herd and insurance up taking. The t value also reflects
that there is negative and significant difference between purchasers and non purchasers of IBLI at
5% significance level. Annual cash saving is another important variable negatively influencing risk
averting behaviour of the farmers (Yesuf Bluffstone, 2009). Contrary to the expectation, the sample

Fantasy films have the element of surprise the viewer can never predict exactly what is going to
happen next. Although The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring uses this traditional
stereotype (and don t forget, it was the tale that set the stereotypes!) Harry Potter and the
Philosopher s Stone begins in a nice row of thoroughly modern little terraced houses with neat little
lawns and cars in every driveway. The scene is set during the night and everything is very quiet.
The street lights provide a misty feel to the place until an old man (whom we have just watched
walking down the road) rather dramatically puts most of them out using a small device not entirely
unlike an ornately carved lighter, thus providing an ethereal glow for the ensuing conversation. The
most immediate questions that spring to mind are What is that Put Outer? Why on earth would the
man want to put the street lamps out? and What exactly is this eccentric looking old man doing in a
nice, normal place like this Privet Drive anyway? This last question was definitely intended by the
producers of the film, as throughout the opening scene the film makes comparisons between the
typical objects and behaviour expected, and those shown in this scene.

Empathy Star Trek
Star Trek: TNG and the Cultivation of Empathy
In this paper, I argue that watching Star Trek: The Next Generation cultivates empathy. Empathy is
a good that human beings ought to develop and having a sense of empathy is one of the best things
in life. Empathy consists in the capacity to understand what another person is going through from
their perspective. The reason that a sense of empathy is one of the best things in life is that it is
impossible to have deep and meaningful relationships with others when we don t have empathy.
Without empathy, we inevitably turn inward and live a lonely life. For this reason, empathy is one
of the best things in life.
Regular watching of Star Trek: TNG increases our capacity for empathy. The reason why this is the
case is that watching acts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now characters in Star Trek: TNG routinely show empathetic concern for one another. For instance,
when a race of cyborgs capture Jean Luc Picard (captain of the Enterprise on the show), the crew of
the
Enterprise do everything in their power to rescue Picard. One of their main motivations for rescuing
Picard is their experience of the sense of distress that he experiences while in captivity. This is just
one instance where empathy is shown in the program, but it happens on a regular basis. In sum,
watching
Star Trek: TNG increases our capacity for empathy because the characters regularly display empathy
on the show and because we tend to imitate the actions that we see other human beings performing.
Someone might object to this argument by pointing out that characters on the show also display
cruelty that involves a lack of empathy. For instance, in one episode a malevolent being kills one
of the members for the crew for no apparent reason. If we watch this cruelty, then perhaps we
ourselves might behave more cruelly. But this objection can be refuted. Cruelty on the show is

Compare And Contrast Suburban And Homecoming
The quality and importance of life are looked at by most as a valuable and great gift, but this
perception of someone s life is stated differently by the two poets, David Malouf and Bruce Dawe.
The poems Suburban and Homecoming express life through the eyes of two separate groups, one
being a stereotypical individual and the other, a group of men fighting for their own lives. Poetry
offers many hidden meanings within their stories, Suburban and Homecoming are no different
offering two distinct takes on the meaning of life. Whether that be shown through war, or a
Sunday morning after a long night out, both poems convey the emotions of life, both positively
and negatively. Homecoming by Bruce Dawe describes the homecoming of dead Australian
Soldiers from the Vietnamese War, (lines 2 3). The poem has its poet expressing his opinions on
man s response to wars and how vital human life is, the soldier need to be brought home and the
brutality and futility of wars between the human s race. In contrast, Suburban, by David Malouf,
expresses to the reader the facade of modern suburbia, lukewarm residency clouded by public
idealism and picket fences. Suburban suggests similar themes of masked anxieties by apparent
political or social orders, which is clearly expressed through the way Malouf describes modern
suburbia; as dull and emotionless. Homecoming directly contrasts this and describes a chaotic and
destructive, this is demonstrated through the entirety of the poem, poetic

Corruption And Relationship In The Masetto Of Boccaccio
Boccaccio was a very famous Italian writer and poet. One of his most famous pieces was the
Decameron. Although Boccaccio was a correspondent of Petrarch, their works are very
different. Both Petrarch and Boccaccio spoke about lovers, but in every different ways. For
Petrarch, a lover is the one who is loved, regardless of how it turns out. It is someone you have a
spiritual attachment with. On the contrary, lover for Boccaccio is someone you have a physical
connection with. He describes lover as someone to mess around with. These views of love,
along with the theme of corruption, are reoccurring in Boccaccio s writings. According to
Boccaccio, all people are corrupt. He shows this in multiple ways in The Decameron. I found the
story of the Masetto of Lamporecchio really interesting. This is the story of a man who wanted
to prove himself to others. Masetto noticed there were a group of nuns who needed a gardener
and thought that he would be an ideal man for the job. Masetto knew it would be hard to get
hired for a job around nuns, so he decided to act deaf and mute. This plan of his works perfectly
and he was hired as a gardener. When some of the younger nuns noticed that Masetto was a good
looking man, they considered having their way with him. The nuns had only heard about the
pleasures and wanted to experience for themselves. They thought this mute gardener would be the
perfect person to try these pleasurable experiences on, because he would not be able to tell anyone

sufficient amount on the account to cover out of pocket expenses. Furthermore, data indicates that
health saving accounts are not being used as tax shelters by people with high income. It reveals
that majority of individuals who has an account has incomes below $60,000. The most important

confidence in those imposing third party substantiation requirements on HSAs will increase

Decision Making Process Of The Theory Of Organization
Decision Making Decision making process is a way to get a final choice on achieving goals or
solving problems among several alternatives. In classical theory of organization, it was believed
that only top managers perform as the decision makers. It regards the employees as instrument
(March and Simon 1993). However, In Simon and March s view (1993), employees are not just
instrument, they are indeed rational people that think, act, and decide on their own in
organizations. The decisions they made not only are affected by their knowledge and information

Simon and March (1993) contend that the central unifying construct is not hierarchy but decision

of organization through decision making, people need to understand why the classical theory is
regarded as improper. The first point is the rationality. In classical method, the rational man makes
optimal choices with conditions that there are already several alternatives simply given with no
reasons why it is obtained and consequences attached to each alternatives. The decision makers
have their own preferences and choose the one they think to be most optimal. However, since not
all consequences of alternatives are certain or can be predicted, and the conditions are too perfectly

Cyber Bullying Persuasive Essay
Inspirational speaker, writer, and community leader Anna Maria ChГЎvez once said Cyber Bullies
can hide behind a mask of anonymity online, and do not need direct physical access to their
victims to do unimaginable harm. Cyberbullying is negatively taking over technology and adults
aren t aware of the potential dangers it has on their children. To start, children and teens do not talk
to their parents about the acts of cyberbullying that occur on their technology. Over half of young
teens do not tell their parents when cyberbullying occurs. (Webstar, 2017) This is a big problem.
This means that children are hurting, the result of cyberbullying, and they are afraid to talk to their
parents, or any adult for that matter. They are keeping their emotions bottled up inside them, and
parents have no idea this is happening. In fact, only 1 in 10 teens tell an adult if they have been a

Children have to seek help from adults and stop the cyber bullies hiding behind their screen. Might

Customs Union eliminates trade barriers between member countries and adopts a common external
trade policy. Custom union provides for economic cooperation as in a free trade zone. The primary
difference between customs union and free trade area involves members agreeing to treat trade
with non members countries in a similar manner. Most countries who enter a customs union often
desire further integration in the future. For example, the Andean Pact (for agreements between
Bolivia, Columbia, Ecuador, and Peru).
Common Market allows for the creation of economically integrated markets between member
countries. Trade barriers are removed, as are any restrictions on the movement of labor and capital
between member countries. Like customs union, there is a common trade policy for trade with
non member nations. The primary advantage of common markets is workers are no longer needing

Economic Union occurs when countries enter into an economic agreement to remove barriers to

Organization as a system use different types of resources including materials, finance, information,
and human resource, among these resources human resource is the engine that helps the
organization to meet its goal. As this time to be in copes up with the competitive environment,
organizations require making a decision of choosing appropriate training and development

The Liberation From England s Despotism
In a very short time, the United States grew from thirteen small colonies that were governed by
a monarchy over 3,000 miles away into a self sustaining democratic nation of fifty states. The
liberation from England s despotism occurred not by accident or happenstance, but from a
collective whole of society whose moral resolve led to the famous phrase Life, Liberty, and the
pursuit of happiness (National Archives, 1776) written in America s Declaration of
Independence 239 years ago. These certain inalienable rights are our nation s backbone for what
we stand for and what we believe in. Our government, the government our forefather s created, is
responsible for the freedoms we experience on a daily basis. However, what are we doing as a
nation to ensure that the same rights and reasons for which they fought for are being preserved
so that we not only retain our present way of life but also improve upon it for ourselves and
future generations to come? When government is spoken of often it sounds as if it is its own
entity enabled to make its own decisions free from repercussions as well as accountability. As if it
was a person that could be disciplined for misbehaving. The government did this...or the
government did that...or can you believe what they are doing in Washington? Have we forgotten
what President Lincoln said in his Gettysburg Address: ...That the nation, shall have a new birth of
freedom, and that government of the people by the people for the people, shall not

Nitinol Lab Report
Introduction The purpose of this lab was to examine nitinol s, a nickel Titanium shape memory
alloy, solid phase transformations and behaviors, a shape memory alloy can be defined as a specific
group of metal alloys that can recover from a seemingly permanent strain by applying a certain
amount of heat to the substance. This occurs through a slight rearrangement of the atoms within the
solid. The structure of the austenite phase of nitinol is very rigid and perfectly aligned, whereas the
martensite phase is soft and can be deformed easily. Additionally this lab also explored identifying a
set of unknown wires by comparing calculated densities to known densities for each of the wires,
estimating the temperature when the transformation from the martensitic phase of nitinol to the
austenitic phase of nitinol occurs, retraining the nitinol wire to a new austenitic shape, and
examining the acoustic properties for nitinol in both the martensitic phase and austenitic phase
through an online investigation. Experimental... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The wire was bent into an L shape before being paced into a 100 mL beaker filled with water
which was on top of the hot plate and the temperature was monitored using the Vernier
temperature and Logger Pro software. The observations were recorded and compared to the
observations made by other lab groups. Part 4 of the lab involved retraining the nitinol wire. The
wire was held in the desired shape then heated using a 500+ degrees Celsius flame. The wire was
held firmly using two sets of needle nose pliers above a tea candle lit with a utility lighter until
the tension in the wire was released and then the wire was quickly removed from the flame to
avoid damage. After allowing the wire to cool, observations were

How Did Adrienne Rich Claim My Education
When speaking at Mills college in 1977, Adrienne Rich admonished the new graduates to claim
their education rather than expecting to receive it. The difference in language between active and
passive voice really gets to her point. Some may settle for using the passive voice, I was educated
by San Jose State University , but Adrienne rich s advice is to use the active voice, I claimed my
educationat San Jose State University . In the next four years, by using the skills I learn at San
Jose State, I plan to actively claim my education. As Adrienne Rich spoke to a college full of
women, she continuously pointed out that education is not something to take for granted, and
should not be looked at passively. Education is a responsibility she remarked, Responsibility to
yourself means that you don t fall for shallow and easy solutions. On the other hand, the Youtube
video shows a student who does not take responsibility for their education, and basically exemplifies
the student Adrienne Rich advises against. During the time of Adrienne Rich s speech in the 1970

Leonardo Da Vinci
Leonardo Da Vinci: The Renaissance man
Leonardo Da Vinci was a successful man in more areas than artwork. From the time he was a
boy, he began studying the arts as well as the ideas of science, medicine, machinery, and much
more. Da Vinci s history is reflected in his paintings and inventions that have been able to change
the world of then and now. Leonardo s artistic vision led him down a prosperous path of life that
has made him one of the most innovative individuals the world has seen. With the help of a lot of
childhood exposure to the arts, along with the natural creativity born inside of him, Leonardo Da
Vinci changed the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries through his work.
Hardworking and curious from the beginning, Leonardo dove into any information he could get
his hands on in order to fulfill his natural talents of creation. Just at the age of 15 he began to
work with his father at the Verrochio work shop where he took the biggest step in his artwork.
He grew up around great artists, Verrochio himself, and mastered all the challenges art had too
offer. He became so good that around the age of 20 he made Verrochio retire in art, as well as
become one of the most famous painters known in Italy. Shortly after he began to work for a
Duke, which is where he began to branch into sculpting, designing buildings as well as weapons
and machinery. Leonardo was never a man of war because he hated the idea of people dying, but
he had to pay his bills some how and that s the

Informative Essay On Kickboxing
Want to burn calories fast? Try kickboxing. Kickboxing is arguably one of the most high impact
and fun sports to participate in. It s a total body workout that is highly effective in burning
calories and blasting fat. Kickboxing combines other sports such as martial arts, boxing, and
aerobics, which require little or no equipment. Besides being highly engaging and exciting, it
comes with the following fitness benefits. 1. Burns Calories Kickboxing is a high calorie
burning activity. You can burn between 275 and 450 calories in a half hour of a kickboxing

uppercuts, jabs and crosses that leave your arms, chest and shoulders totally worked out and

house kicks, and side kicks to tone your thighs and butt within a short time. 4. Improves
Coordination At the beginning, coordinating your body to move at the right pace and to throw
those jabs and kicks at the right intervals and impact can be difficult. However, a kickboxing
instructor will guide in adopting the perfect pace and help you focus on proper technique and
movements. As each workout builds on a previous one, the sessions gradually become more
intense as you graduate to advanced combinations. The impact of this is that you will have
better balance, flexibility, coordination and sharpened reflexes. 5. Relieves Stress Are you
looking for an effective stress reliever? Besides the physical benefits of kickboxing, the sport has
great mental benefits. It not only relieves your stress, but it also improves your confidence. Next
time you have a challenging project that s stressing you, consider throwing a few round house
kicks as you picture your project unravelling before your eyes. There are very few sports that can

The purpose of this essay is to examine, the notion of music being a part of a deaf individual s life
may seem contradictory, but there is evidence that music is and has been a part of many deaf
people s lives. Music is and has been a part of the Deaf culture, including, but not limited to, Deaf
musicians, utilising music to teach speech. The primary purpose of this thesis was to explore the
relation between Deaf culture and music and examine the role of music in the deaf culture and to
relate the findings to current practices in music education programs for hearing impaired students
historically and presently. We also look at the introduction of sign language interpreters in live
vocal music performances as well pre recorded shows and music videos and also how it is being
adopted in the music industry. Secondary purposes of the study were to accumulate data of ways in
which the music industry has provided for the Deaf Communities by organising concerts and raves
for them.

Theoretical Background for Nuclear Proliferation in the...
THEORETICAL BACKGROUND FOR NUCLEAR PROLIFERATION Cold War Era If one
were to believe that an official written history of North Korea during the past few years, the
political developments in North Korea after 1945 and until the date entire communist movement
seem to have been relatively simple. In 1948, in the result of nuclear bombs crashed in Hiroshima
and Nagasaki, a requirement for non proliferation of nuclear weapons appeared based on their
frightening critical power. The U.S, Canada, and the U.K. recommended establishing a commission
of nuclear energy under the United Nations in order to fully eliminate the possibility of nuclear
energy use for destructive purposes. In the UN General Assembly, all members reached a agreement
on prohibition of the possession of nuclear weapons separately. The United States also gave option
that all nuclear related equipment and actions potentially unsafe to world harmony and security
should be under the United Nations possession and rule. This proposal, called the Baruch Plan,
failed to be adopted due to disagreement by the Soviet Union because of its fear of a United States
nuclear weapons domination. Initially, it was reflection that, proliferation of nuclear weapons was
unlikely to broaden because nuclear weapons and technology would be difficult to gain. Though, all
permanent members in the current UN Security Council officially got nuclear position. There
existed common understanding that horizontal proliferation of

Essay Growing Up, Staying Young
Growing Up, Staying Young
I had trouble sleeping that night. The peaceful, rhythmic breathing of my younger sister across the
room could not calm me as I lay under the covers in the dark, listening for the heavy footsteps of an
elderly man sneaking through the downstairs floor of my house. With one hand firmly choking Red
Blankie, I reached with the other to turn the alarm clock on my bedstand toward me. The
fluorescent red digits whispered 12:03 in the still, black room. Perhaps he will come soon.
Delicate tingles danced up my arms, as I froze like a nervous cat, ears up, ready and alert. I
rehearsed the carefully planned sequence of events in my head. A suspicious and unfamiliar sound

This world is but a canvas to our imagination, wrote Henry David Thoreau. As a young child, I
clung to this inspirational message and ran with it to millions of marvelous places in my mind. I
believed in everything, from my invisible collie Fluffy to Santa Claus, Rudolf, and the rest of the
reindeer. Everything I saw and heard and read sang to me, inspired me, and thrilled me.
When my mom wouldn t let me have a puppy, Fluffy came into my life. She was my imaginary
collie, every bit as real as the dogs I saw climbing against the scratched windows of the mall pet
shops. I took her for walks around my back yard, fed her juicy crimson mulberries from our tree,
and taught her to rescue children from burning buildings, like Lassie did on Nickelodeon. My time
with Fluffy was limited, however, when I found a job in the restaurant business. As the owner,
waiter, and cook, I spent many hours in the red and yellow playhouse in my basement taking orders
from hungry customers and preparing exotic foods for their culinary pleasure.
My best friend Jenny joined me in many of my childhood adventures. After reading Freckle Juice
by Judy Blume in second grade, she and I were convinced we could get rid of her horrible brown
freckles with a fantastic concoction of rainbow colored vitamins, brilliant blue bathroom cleanser,
delightful soap bubbles, hairspray mist, and two tablespoons of mouthwash. Unfortunately, Jenny

Collective Bargaining Case Summary
Collective bargaining is the process of negotiating contract terms between the employer and
employee. In 2015, a group of California teachers decided to petition the court and ultimately
collectively bargain against the union s collective bargain. The plaintiffs claim California s
agency shop law is unconstitutional and violates teachers First Amendment rights by forcing
them to pay union dues regardless of whether they support or are a member of the union,
(Bidwell, 2015). The lead plaintiff in this case, Rebecca Friedrichs, has been a teacher for over 25
years. Friedrichs was a member of the union, but felt like her efforts were pointless, as the others
did not listen to her. Now that she, and others, are not members and do not support

Comparing Functionalism And Symbolic Interactionalism
Deviance in sociology is defined as behaviour that violates or goes against the cultural norm being
non normative (Henslin et al., 2013)
Using the Mainstream Australia s view of Aboriginals and the significant disparity in their quality
of education, health and socio economic status compared to that of Non Indigenous Australians;
this essay will be unpacking how Functionalism and Symbolic interactionalism view and understand
deviance and the difference in views between the two paradigms. Functionalists believing that
deviance is present in all cultures and thus serves a crucial role in the interconnected machine that

labels particular cultures place on certain behaviour.

A functionalist views deviance as a failure to live up to norms that are institutionalised in a

development of this theory as well as argue that deviance plays a necessary role in society; to
clarify norms and moral boundaries, strengthen connections between people reacting towards
deviance as well as promote positive changes in society (Macionis and Gerber, 2011). Aboriginals
and Torres Strait Islanders have faced an extensive history of discrimination and egregious

  • 2. A Letter To A Little Princess To the Little Princess: This is an open letter to my favorite friend, Sara Crewe, the best princess forever. My little princess, you are the lighthouse of hope above the dark ocean of hardship; beside, you are my admired girl who taught me how to get through the plight and predicament on myself during my childhood. Your unfettered imaginations, positive attitudes, and mighty adversity quotient all are lessons enlightened me so much till now. Therefore, I usually call you a butterfly against flowing wind , that a pretty and seemingly weak butterfly with incredible power. To speak specifically, Sara, you have an unlimited and unfettered visions wherever you are; also, you always keep your sunny, positive outlooks whatever you are. And, I love all your imaginations whenever I am. Without a princess suit, or the crown, you are a special one in the school. More than a so called princess, you are a real princess cause you have a powerful heart. You knew the hardship, or exclusion from the peer, but you never thought they are the most relentless enemies in your life; you even felt the sorrow of losing your dear papa, however you never considered that would beat you; then you suffered the falling difference from a popular girl at school to a unfed worker, however you never forgot you were a princess. I love your speaking: Whatever comes cannot alter one thing. If I am a princess in rags and tatters, I can be a princess inside. It would be easy to be a princess if I were dressed ... • 3. St. Athanasius Against Arian Heresy St. Athanasius Against the Arian Heresy The St. Athanasius greatly impacted the Arian heresy. The Arian heresy was very well rooted, and St. Athanasius is recognized as the main Church Father to fight it. The heresy of Arianism started in the early 300s. It was starting to gain followers, so the Church called for the Council of Nicea. The Nicene Creed was made during this Council, and it rebuked the teachings of Arianism, which made it an heresy. Arianism soon rose back from the ashes, and many Church members were turning to it out of fear or corruption. St. Athanasius stayed strong throughout all of this, continuing to preach and write of the heresies of Arianism. He survived five exiles and died peacefully in his bed in the Alexandrian See. Arianism didn t just appear out of thin air, it had a start just like all other heresies. The founder of Arianism was Arius. Arius was a priest in Alexandria, who had studied in Antioch. Some of the subjects of his studies were the works of Origen, Neoplatonism, and Gnosticism. He then started to preach that Jesus was sent by the Father, however not equal to the Father. He said that Jesus was only called the Son of God because of his heroics. Athanasius was the main opponent of this heresy,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Circular Letter was in response to Gregory of Cappadocia s intrusion into the Alexandrian See. He wrote about Gregory sending Jews and barbarians into the churches of Alexandria to attack the people, how the Jews were making sacrifices of birds on the altar, and how monks were beaten and killed. He also wrote that Gregory allowed these men to plunder the church, in order to win them over fully. Athanasius then shows in his writing how Gregory was supported by the Arians, and that the Arians are doing this to keep him out. Athanasius ends the letter with an appeal to the other members of the Church to get Gregory out of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Damsel in distress One of the most widely used clichГ©s in video games is Damsel in distress. The word comes from French demoiselle, which means young lady . Demoiselle en detresse translates into damsel in distress . As a trope the damsel in distress is a plot device in which a female character is placed in a perilous situation from which she cannot escape on her own and must be rescued by a male character, usually providing a core incentive or motivation for the protagonist s quest. First known example of the Damsel in distress can be seen in the myth about Perseus and his wife Andromeda, who is chained naked to a rock by the sea as a sacrifice, and is then ... The protagonist Booker DeWitt, is sent there to find a young lady called Elizabeth, who has been held captive by her father Zachary Comstock in a tower for most of her life. The scenario sounds to be the classic example of Damsel in distress, but when Booker reaches the tower, he realizes that she is not so gentle, helpless and defenseless as he thinks. She is unlike any character that I have seen in a game, especially when you play through the entire thing and you see how she evolves. DeWitt manages to rescue Elizabeth and they both get involved in the city s conflict, during which she shows her strange, but strong superpowers. Her character is well rounded. Her backstory is interesting and complex. Her flaws and the way she expresses emotions makes her more real and human. She s resourceful and quick witted, with the ability to break codes and pick locks like they re nothing (being locked in a tower with nothing but books means she s got a lot of hobbies). Elizabeth has no experience with shooting and fighting, but she effectively helps Booker. She looks for ammunition and health kits and provides them to the main character. Her participation plays a vital role during battles. Elizabeth even saves Booker life few times. That time Elizabeth gave him CRP on the beach when he almost drowned, or that time she caught him with a blimp to save him from falling off the city, or that time she gave herself up to Songbird to save his life. Elizabeth is essential to succeed. There is also no sexual undertone in her relationship with Booker. Creative director of Irrational Games, said that In terms of her body type, I think certainly people on the Internet have spent way more time thinking about Elizabeth s chest than I have, he said. • 7. Power And Corruption In A Tale Of Two Cities Throughout all of human history, many influential beings have exploited varying forms of human nature s prominence, as well as its true darkness. There have been many cases to humans acting out of pure righteousness by standing by and supporting their true and sincere morals, whereas others have revealed the deep evil within us through acts of brutality, savagery, or manipulation. Percy Bysshe Shelley one wrote, Power, like a desolating pestilence, Pollutes whate er it touches . This quote expresses Shelley s opinion that power does not come without corruption. I support Shelley s assertion because her belief can be proven not only through examples from the book, A Tale of Two Cities , but can also be found in historical event, as well as human nature in general.... One may conclude that, because humans are not born with immediate mental fortitude, it may be a part of human nature to be corrupted by power. In Charles Dickens famous novel, A Tale of Two Cities , many situations that have involved corruption through power revolved around an individual that uses that power for a selfish reason, such as entertainment or revenge. An example of this would be when the Marquis of France abused their royal titles. By having a high rank in the social class, the Marquis used their titles to live lives of luxury while the rest of society suffered in extreme poverty. • 8. Self-Reliance In Thoreau And Ralph Waldo Emerson SELF RELIANCE Self Reliance is to depend on one s own powers and resources rather than the influence, opinions, and directives of others. Emerson s concept of self reliance is that each person should listen to their inner voice, instead of others around them. Emerson speaks strongly on how others tend to follow the popular choice, or the crowd that leads the way but does not to follow one s conscious and what one truly feels. When Emerson says you find those who think they know your duty better than you know it he hopes to advice people, to trust their own choices and decisions; instead of those who feel like they have it all out for you. Thoreau and Emerson has both stressed of the idea of self reliance in their works. Thoreau and Waldo both accept that nature is what strengthens us not to depend on others thoughts but to rely on our own. Thoreau and Emerson both came to the thought that people rely on the government to a horrible extent , when determining things that take place or choices for them. • 10. Genetic Relatedness Between Modern Humans And Neandertals... a.Provide a brief summary of what we know about the genetic relatedness between modern humans, neandertals and chimpanzees Neandertals are similar to humans across most of the genome. They are about as similar as two humans are to each other. However, in some parts of the Neandertal genome Neandertals had more in common with chimpanzees than with humans. This shows that humans went through many changes to make them different than chimps. According to Svante Paabo, Neandertals contributed very little to the genetic makeup of modern humans. Researchers think that people who are lactose intolerant may have inherited this gene from the Neandertals. FOXP2 gene is the gene that is associated with speech in humans. Researchers found that it was also a gene in Neandertals. This could mean that Neandertals could speak. Humans and chimps have several independent bone plates in our skulls that let our heads get bigger as we grow. The jaw muscle pulls against these plates. In an ape the forces can be enormous. All of this power forces an ape s skull plates to fuse together at an early age, putting limits on how much the brain can grow. In an human the plates remain open for growth until about age 30. • 11. Uberx Should Be Legalized In Canada Case Study An issue that is hotly debated is should UberX be allowed in Toronto. Some think that yes, UberX should be allowed in Toronto but others think that it should not be allowed. Yes I know UberX has been legalized, but this argument is fighting against the legalization. It is clear that overall UberX should not be allowed in Toronto. More Toronto citizens are disregarding UberX. People have realized that though the rates may be low the risk of something happening is high, because UberX s drivers are untrained and background checks are limited. Although UberX s rates may be low, the can spike up in times of high demand. During storms and rush hour the fair can double, even triple in cost. The finally reason is that the low rates are unfair to other cab companies, because other cab companies actually hire people as a job, UberX is just for people who want to make extra money. Another reason UberX should not be allowed in Toronto is because the UberX drivers have not had to go through special training to become a cab driver. All they have too present is a driver s license, have a background check and present a functioning car. The background check includes a driving record and a criminal check. After extracting the features, a summarized opinion is concreted based on those features. 1.3Techniques for Opinion Mining Opinion mining (also known as sentiment analysis) focuses mainly on two things, first identifying whether the text is subjective or objective and then determining the polarity of the subject [3]. Opinion words in the text mostly contribute towards the subjectivity of the text. These opinion words together inform about the emotional context of the text. Objective words contribute towards the factual construct of the text. There are three most common approaches used for determining the sentimental content of a text В¬Lexical Analysis This is basically a dictionary approach. The text under analysis is converted into tokens. Each token is then matched with the dictionary. If the match is positive, it increments the total score of the text so far, else there is a decrement in the text score if there is a negative match. For example, the word beautiful will increment the total score since it is a positive match. It is a basic but very efficient technique. One major drawback of this approach is that its accuracy and efficiency degrades drastically with the growth of the size of the dictionary ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Firstly, how a citizen can be eligible to become a Presidential candidate? What are the requirements or the qualifications that a person needs to be a candidate? With that in mind, the candidates get to sponsor for their electoral campaigns from what type of funds and from whom? People need to know the type of character that a candidate demonstrates. America has become very demanding. There are a lot of things that consume our lives and we are not giving enough importance to the ElectionsProcess. The U.S. Census found that only 47 percent of eligible adults with family incomes of less than $20,000 a year voted in the 2012 presidential election, compared to 80 percent of those whose earnings exceeded $100,000. Overall, only 19 percent of likely voters come from families with incomes of less than $30,000 a year, even though that same group comprises 46 percent of nonvoters. Americans should get more involved in the election process for our democracy to continue because only a certain part of the population vote and get involved in the process. The United Statesis a hectic place to live; many people say they are too busy to wait in line to vote. A survey executed by the California Voter Foundation (CVF) found, that there are 6.4 million Californians who are eligible but unregistered to vote. • 15. Student Learning Styles Paper In the classroom it is important to collect information regarding students learning styles, readiness level, and what hinders the student from learning. Creating instructions take time due to students having different learning styles. Collecting data will help support the differentiated instructions that teachers will use in the classroom to ensure all students have the capabilities to gain the knowledge and skills needed to be successful in the classroom. Before gathering data on students, teachers must be aware of their strengths and weaknesses to be able to help students beyond their understanding. There are eight multiple intelligences teachers can use to incorporate differentiated instructions to increase student learning. Gaining this kind of data will give teachers the information needed to guide students throughout the classroom. Before teachers start a new unit or lesson the purpose and learning goals must be established. Upon establishing these learning goals teachers will need to have an idea of how each student learn best. Collecting data regarding students learning... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Teachers can build relationships and trust from students by creating an environment where students are comfortable and feel like they can be themselves. Essay On Nanoswimmers Wirelessly controlled nanoscale robots can be used for in vitro and in vivo biochemical application and are usually based on (or mimic) the rotary motion of helical bacterial flagella for propulsion. However, researchers still have not been able to create a man made nanohelix that has the ability to change its geometry in response to multiple environmental factor. In other words, it cannot adapt. Thus, a team of researchers led by Kim, examine the bacterial flagella and how they change their helical form in response to environmental stimuli by studying three flagellar forms. The normal run tumble behavior observed in swimming chemotaxis was mainly suppressed and the cells were continuously reoriented by random jostling by their neighbors which randomized their directions in a few tenths of a second. On the other hand, at the edge of the swarm, cells usually paused and then swam back toward the center of the swarm or along its edge. Hence, the properties of the interior of the monolayer was different than the properties of its outer edge. Thus, the local alignment among cells was accomplished by cell body collision and short range hydrodynamic interactions. While there s a fairly good understanding of how bacteria regulate, assemble and rotate their flagella to swim in liquid media, little is still known about how some bacteria is able to use their flagella in order to move over the tops of solids otherwise known as swarming. Thus, Kearns studied what is needed in swarming motility in diverse bacterial model systems such as an increase in the number of flagella per cell, secretion of a surfactant to reduce surface tension for spreading and movement in multicellular groups. Therefore, Kearns was able to determine that swarming motility generally requires an energy rich, solid medium, however, the specific conditions that support swarming depends on the organism in question. Swarming was enhanced by high growth rates that may account for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 17. The Mill On The Floss In George Eliot s The Mill on the Floss, one of the long, resounding themes of the novel is the nature of love and how it changes people over time. While a loving nature is generally regarded as a noble if not redeemable trait in literary characters, especially in Victorian literature where the idea of marrying for lovewas gaining popularity, protagonist Maggie Tulliver subverted that idea. It was because of Maggie s all consuming familial love for her brother Tom, platonic love for Philip, and romantic love for Stephen that directly caused her ultimate downfall and death. At the heart of the novel, Maggie s relationship with her older brother Tom was without a doubt the most important in her life. The two were incredibly close as ... However, this was the first of many times throughout the novel that Maggie displease Tom in some way, be swiftly and harshly punished for it, and return to Tom wholeheartedly whenever it suited him to apologize. The next time that the two siblings fought was the infamous pastry debacle, in which Tom had stolen two pastries for them to share and let Maggie decide who would get the bigger one. Maggie insisted that he take the bigger pastry, but Tom countered by telling her it was alright for her to take it. He then seethed in anger as they ate together when she did indeed take the prefered pastry and he called her greedy. Tom s motivations for doing this are never made entirely clear. Was it a trick question? Was he testing Maggie to see if she would still put him first even when he said not to? But that was the trick, that she thought she was being respectful and putting Tom first by taking his permission to accept the larger pastry for herself. Maggie could never seem to win with Tom because of his strange logic and sense of justice, and their strained relationship finally boiled over in childhood when she ran away to live with gypsies anything to not have to deal with Tom s disappointingly on again, off again ... Since its existence, this nation has seen a series of revolutions and riots in efforts to reverse the unjust social, economic, and political conditions. The most influential of these revolutionary efforts contributed to the formation of Jamaica s very own religious movement, Rastafarianism. With oppression serving as one of the driving forces for the Rastafari Movement, it is understandable why its followers are so adamant about professing their ideologies, beliefs and practices. The central language used to express the grievances of Rastafarians is known globally as the music genre, Reggae. It is not merely coincidental that the country pregnant with such radical motives also gave birth to its own music brand. By examining the music of artists such as Bob Marley, Dennis Brown, Luciano and more, we can deduce that Reggae music served and continues to serve as the most prominent vehicle for the spread of Rastafarianism. • 25. The Secession Of The Civil War Secession Paper Assignment After Abraham Lincoln was elected president in 1860, politicians in the southern states wished to secede from the northern states. President Lincoln opposed slavery and hoped to get rid of this act in any state that practiced it. The southern states viewed Lincoln s vision as a threat to those states who supported slavery and they believed that having an anti slavery president would endanger the states in many ways. For this reason, South Carolina became the first to secede six weeks after Lincoln became president and later on more states to follow the secession (lecture). The states who seceded became known as the Confederate states and the conflict resulted in the civil war which lasted from 1861 to 1865 (lecture). The secession all falls back to the disagreement between the North and the South s different views on slavery based on three different factors which were geographic positioning, economic power and man power. Not all southern states seceded from the Union. The wave of secession varied between the Upper South, Middle South and Deep South states. The geographic positioning was an important factor that determined how much influence slavery had on the states. Focused learners are individuals who pay full attention in class and are not easily distracted by their mobile devices. These individuals utilize the hippocampus which is typically the heart of the memory and the learning center of the brain. These students have the ability of thinking in high level scenarios and typically end up with higher paying jobs than those that are categorized as multitaskers (Jacobsen Forste, 2011). Multitaskers are those that do two or three things at once and are therefore not focusing on getting one task accomplished (Boyd, 2014). Such students use the area of the brain known as the striatum. This manner of learning is not an adverse learning approach; however, this area of the brain is for learning habits. Multitasking is usually right for those that want to work on assembly lines. Students that graduate with degrees typically aim for high paying jobs and in order to achieve this they must shut down their laptops and phones and pay attention in their classes. Empathy is a good that human beings ought to develop and having a sense of empathy is one of the best things in life. Empathy consists in the capacity to understand what another person is going through from their perspective. The reason that a sense of empathy is one of the best things in life is that it is impossible to have deep and meaningful relationships with others when we don t have empathy. This is just one instance where empathy is shown in the program, but it happens on a regular basis. For Petrarch, a lover is the one who is loved, regardless of how it turns out. It is someone you have a spiritual attachment with. On the contrary, lover for Boccaccio is someone you have a physical connection with. He describes lover as someone to mess around with. In classical theory of organization, it was believed that only top managers perform as the decision makers. It regards the employees as instrument (March and Simon 1993). However, In Simon and March s view (1993), employees are not just instrument, they are indeed rational people that think, act, and decide on their own in organizations. The decisions they made not only are affected by their knowledge and information received, but also their ability to solve problems, attitudes, personal goals and values. In the past, people commonly believed in the hierarchical descriptions of organization because its efficiency and it fits more general cultural norms for describing social relations in terms of domination and subordination (March and Simon 1993 Revisited). However, in Organizations, Simon and March (1993) contend that the central unifying construct is not hierarchy but decision making, and the flow of information within organizations that instructs, informs, and supports decision making processes . In order to identify how Simon and March develops the understanding of organization through decision making, people need to understand why the classical theory is regarded as improper. The first point is the rationality. In classical method, the rational man makes optimal choices with conditions that there are already several alternatives simply given with no reasons why it is obtained and consequences attached to each alternatives. The decision makers have their own preferences and choose the one they think to be most optimal. However, since not all consequences of alternatives are certain or can be predicted, and the conditions are too perfectly imagined, the classical theory of rational man involves difficulties. It cannot be imagined in advance what will happen to an organization, or how the environment will change, not everything proceeds under people s expectations. Cyber Bullying Persuasive Essay Inspirational speaker, writer, and community leader Anna Maria ChГЎvez once said Cyber Bullies can hide behind a mask of anonymity online, and do not need direct physical access to their victims to do unimaginable harm. Cyberbullying is negatively taking over technology and adults aren t aware of the potential dangers it has on their children. To start, children and teens do not talk to their parents about the acts of cyberbullying that occur on their technology. Over half of young teens do not tell their parents when cyberbullying occurs. (Webstar, 2017) This is a big problem. This means that children are hurting, the result of cyberbullying, and they are afraid to talk to their parents, or any adult for that matter. They are keeping their emotions bottled up inside them, and parents have no idea this is happening. In fact, only 1 in 10 teens tell an adult if they have been a cyberbully victim. (Webstar, 2017) These numbers should not be the effect of cyberbullying. Children have to seek help from adults and stop the cyber bullies hiding behind their screen. Might I add, it should not be all on the children s shoulders. They are the victim, and they should stand up for themselves, but why should it be all on them? Parents have to be on the lookout for cyber bullyingthese days. Only 32% of parents actually monitor their children s social networking activities, while 28% admitted they only occasionally, rarely or never monitor activity. (Anderson, 2016) This 28% of ... Customs Union eliminates trade barriers between member countries and adopts a common external trade policy. Custom union provides for economic cooperation as in a free trade zone. The primary difference between customs union and free trade area involves members agreeing to treat trade with non members countries in a similar manner. Common Market allows for the creation of economically integrated markets between member countries. Trade barriers are removed, as are any restrictions on the movement of labor and capital between member countries. Like customs union, there is a common trade policy for trade with non member nations. The Liberation From England s Despotism In a very short time, the United States grew from thirteen small colonies that were governed by a monarchy over 3,000 miles away into a self sustaining democratic nation of fifty states. The liberation from England s despotism occurred not by accident or happenstance, but from a collective whole of society whose moral resolve led to the famous phrase Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness (National Archives, 1776) written in America s Declaration of Independence 239 years ago. These certain inalienable rights are our nation s backbone for what we stand for and what we believe in. Our government, the government our forefather s created, is responsible for the freedoms we experience on a daily basis. However, what are we doing as a nation to ensure that the same rights and reasons for which they fought for are being preserved so that we not only retain our present way of life but also improve upon it for ourselves and future generations to come? When government is spoken of often it sounds as if it is its own entity enabled to make its own decisions free from repercussions as well as accountability. As if it was a person that could be disciplined for misbehaving. The government did this...or the government did that...or can you believe what they are doing in Washington? This occurs through a slight rearrangement of the atoms within the solid. The structure of the austenite phase of nitinol is very rigid and perfectly aligned, whereas the martensite phase is soft and can be deformed easily. Additionally this lab also explored identifying a set of unknown wires by comparing calculated densities to known densities for each of the wires, estimating the temperature when the transformation from the martensitic phase of nitinol to the austenitic phase of nitinol occurs, retraining the nitinol wire to a new austenitic shape, and examining the acoustic properties for nitinol in both the martensitic phase and austenitic phase through an online investigation.
