Compare And Contrast To My Dear And Loving Husband
In Bradstreet´s To My Dear and Loving Husband marriage and love are presented as dazzling and
foolproof. Problems make relationships substantial and the lack of them would seem too quixotic,
making it very stereotyped and dull for my taste. This poem is a rainbow put into words, it illustrates
an ideal relationship that could be considered mythical. Anne Bradstreet seems to image a matrimony,
she aspired to possess. If ever two were one, then surely we / If ever man were loved by wife, then
thee; (1 2) these lines give you the impression that she has an exaggerate self opinion towards her love
life, which she set side by side to other relationships, to make evident that hers was more valuable
than any other. Next she writes If ever wife was happy in a man, /Compare with me ye women if you
can. (3 4)She continues the anaphora by insisting that nobody can compare with her, in ... Show more

Clearly showing us the big uncertainty she keeps that there is the remote possibility of failing to keep.
With this in mind, she continues expressing her emotions, of course. In lines 10 12(The heavens
reward thee manifold, I pray...) Bradstreet reveals she is a possessive partner, jealousy is often a sign
of a low self esteem. However, she includes the religious belief to distract the audience from evidently
finding out she is selfish and she really needs her husband to be with her every time while their
existence continues, so they can still remain together when they ascend to heaven. Anne Bradstreet
was a love desperate and needy wife with many insecurities towards her relationship with her partner.
She plays with the audience by the use of intricate words to deflect the reader s attention from the big
imagination and desire she possesses to obtain something she doesn t have: a perfect

Exploring Citizenship, Gobal Citizenship, and Global Citizenship Education
Global Citizenship and International Development Education

Professor Michael A. Peters
13 August 2015 Exploring citizenship, global citizenship, and global citizenship education
Abstract
With the progression of globalization, the recognition of how to be a good citizen and how to act as a
good citizen in the global age has drawn more and more attention. In addition, the direction of
education shifts from the knowledge and skills dissemination to building global values to be well
connected in the world. This paper aims to indicate multiple understandings of citizenship and
specifically interprets three dimensions of citizenship: citizenship as a status, as a practice and as a
feeling. Besides, understandings about global citizenship will be explored as well. Last but not the
least, how global citizenship education is applied to the concepts of citizenship and global citizenship
in order to be a good citizen and act as a good citizen.
Citizenship
With regard to the concepts of citizenship, there have been a significant variety of understandings.
Specifically, in Marshall s perspective (1950, p30), citizenship consists of civil, political, and social
citizenship. In addition, Marshall argues that the development of civil citizenship expanded, involving
political citizenship and social citizenship. Based on the three dimension model of citizenship,
Marshall, in

Identify The Different Types Of Volcanoes
There are three types of volcanoes on earth. They are composite, cinder cone and shield volcanoes.
They are all over the world and depending on what kinds of volcanoes they are they would be in
different areas because some volcanoes have little lava and some have a lot that can be very dangerous
if they were to irrupt.
The first type of volcano is the Composite volcano. This type of volcano has cinders, lava flows and
mixed with gravel like sand. Hollywood types are easily recognized, many are located in popular
areas; Vesuvius, Krakatoa, Fujiyama, and Mount St. Helens.
The second type of volcanoes, are Cinder Cone volcano. These types of volcanoes are mostly loose,
grainy cinders and almost no lava. Cinder Cone volcanoes are

F For False Movie Analysis
F for Wellesian Orson Welles had a long career full of unexpected rises and falls that was marked by
his personal desire to wow audiences and habitual straying from conventional means of entertainment.
From his The War of Worlds broad cast that caused audiences to fear for their lives, to his performance
in The Third Man, Welles strove to be memorable and invite audiences to rise to his standards of
entertainment. He fancied himself a magician; a theme that helped progress his 1973 film F for Fake.
Starting with his explosive youth into his last years, Welles accumulated several habitual stylistic and
narrative devices. Even as his films diversified his stylistic themes continued to be common
throughout, and the release of his questionable documentary in last portion of life proved to continue
this trend. F for Fake is a collage of material that created a unique form of entertainment for the time.
It is constructed in a way that does not point directly to a single theme or central character. ... Show

Early in the film the editing is shown in a flurry of confusion with only Welles s voice providing a
strong grounding point. The film is seemingly built before the audience s eyes, and de Hory and Irving
interact on a personal level without being physically co present. Welles then asks the audience to
consider the relationship of the biographer (Irving) with his subject (de Hory). At this point Irving
becomes the main focus and de Hory as his mentor. The fluidity come not from the stories the men
tell, but Welles s guidance of the two. His stability and power allow him to be an expert on the matter,
and like he has done with other characters in the film, Welles questions the validity of an expert. If an
art officiant can verify a forged painting by de Hory as a Modigliani, then how can Welles be accepted
as a truth teller? Welles shifts from the all knowing narrator, to a forger and main

How to Teach Reported Speech
1.6. How to Teach Reported Speech Review Practice Lesson plan
Teaching students reported or indirect speech can be complicated by the all the changes that are
required when moving from direct speech into reported speech. First off, students should understand
that reported speech is quite useful in conversational English as relating what someone has said using
quote and unquote is awkward at best. A further aspect of reported speech is encouraging students to
use other reporting verbs beyond say and tell .
Introducing Reported Speech
Start with Tenses
I find it best to start off with simple examples in which changes are only made in tense. For example:
Write on the Board:
Direct Speech

Exercise 2: Ask you partner the following questions making sure to take good notes. After you have
finished the questions, find a new partner and report what you have learnt about your first partner
using reported speech.
What is your favorite sport and how long have you been playing/doing it?
What are your plans for your next vacation?
How long have you known your best friend? Can you give me a description of him/her?
What kind of music do you like? Have you always listened to that kind of music?
What did you use to do when you were younger that you don t do anymore?
Do you have any predictions about the future?
Can you tell me what you do on a typical Saturday afternoon?
What were you doing yesterday at this time?
Which two promises will you make concerning learning English?
As students become familiar with the reported speech, introduce a wider range of reporting verbs to
help students move past say and tell .
There are a number of other reporting verbs which can more accurately describe what someone has
said. These verbs take a variety of structures. The following list gives you reporting verbs in various
categories based on sentence structure. Notice that a number of verbs can take more than one form.
verb object infinitive verb infinitive verb (that)

Symbolism In Salinger s The Catcher In The Rye
Salinger dispels common binary meanings assigned by society to many concepts, displaying the
spectrum of ways people can feel or react to any situation. As seen in The Catcher in the Rye, Holden
often shifts between roles such as the catcher , one who guards the innocence of youth, and the caught
, the embodiment of youthful purity that must be protected. Salinger uses shifts of clothing as a
recurring motif to signify shifts of position and destinies (Takeuchi), emphasizing how one s role in
life can be fluid, not static. Throughout his journey, Holden Caulfield, the main protagonist and
narrator of Catcher in the Rye, exhibits this through clothing such as his red hunting hat. Holden
claims this hat to be a people shooting hat (Catcher in the Rye), representing his role as the catcher
who seeks to hunt down the purity of childhood in other humans, not animals. Holden perceives
Phoebe as perfect, constantly contrasting her the the phonies he meets. In doing so, Salinger denotes
Phoebe as the ideal Holden seeks. Despite his hat denoting him as the catcher at first , Holden will at
times adorn it, at others conceal it, or even transfer it to Phoebe, along with its connotative meanings.
By doing this, Holden entirely diverts the traditional distinction, made by western society, between
those who hunt, seek, or catch other animals, to the prey they chase, and instead shows how Holden
seeks to preserve childhood innocence, yet, at times, needs the support of his sister when he is
devastated. Holden s role as the catcher is constantly changing and cannot be confined to the single
definition that Holden himself creates for the catcher in the rye as the person who only protects
children from danger, but rather, must not be seen as an absolute. Holden himself realizes this at the
climax of the books as he watches Phoebe ride the carousel and comments that if they fall off, they fall
off, but it s bad if you say anything to them even though it contradicts his previous claim that he wants
to stop children from failing in any way (Weesner) as the catcher in the Rye.
Salinger also creates ambiguity between the roles of mature adults and innocent children through
Holden, who is an adolescent that embodies

The Plausible Theory Of Perception Direct Realism Or...
Title
Which is the more plausible theory of perception Direct Realism or Indirect Realism?
Introduction
In this essay I will consider two common theories that attempt to account for the problem of
perception, namely Direct, and Indirect realism. I will outline several arguments against direct realism
and show how the theory of indirect realism more plausably accounts for the problem of perception.
Objections to the arguments against direct realism will be considered and possible counterarguments
given. This paper will consider two theories of perception that attempt to account for this problem,
namely Direct and Indirect realism, and argue against direct realism in favour of indirect realism,
leading to the conclusion that indirect realism is the more plausable of the two.
Background
The nature of perception, such as sight, touch, and smell appears intuitively straightforward; direct and
immediate access to a mind independent world (naive realism). We feel as if we looking through our
eyes, as if they are open windows to an external world, and when we feel the texture of objects
through haptic (touch) perception, it feels as if we are directly touching the external surface of a mind
independent objecting. Sitting on a couch it intuitively feels as if one is looking at an object which
exists independent of ones visual perception (e.g. the couch continues to look green and have a soft
texture even if one leaves the room). The problem of perception arises from the existence

My Hair and I Essay
My Hair and I
At some point in a woman s life, she is, if like most women, unhappy with her hair. A woman with
straight hair wishes for curly ringlets. A woman with curly hair wants stick straight locks. Thick and
coarse desires to be fine and thinner. Fine and thin begs for thick hair.
I was one of those women. My hair has an energy, personality, and life of her own. I refer to my hair
as she because, although by technical definition my hair is not a separate living being, and although I
have no proof of her life to show others, I know that she not only grows and reproduces (two
characteristics by which many measure life), but she responds to stimuli, shows emotions, and can
reason.

Don t ask what business an Indian girl with my hair had getting a white American pageboy do. It was
wrong, I realize that now. But I remember after getting that cut, my hair began to freely express her
emotions and moods. It was like she had woken from a long, deep slumber. Maybe it was the shorter
length, maybe it was a natural development phase. It s not clear why she chose to stage her debut at
that point. But one thing was clear, she was not going to do whatever I wanted her to.
When I was 13, I decided to grow out my pageboy style. This decision was not difficult (but
unfortunately for me, not timely). I decided this after looking at my seventh grade yearbook picture. I
was smiling into the camera. My hair was pointing in five different directions from my head,
screaming I wanna be a star!!
Naturally, during adolescence, I decided to test my independence, forge new boundaries, and find my
personality. My hair was no different.
Our morning routine was usually the showdown. Every morning, I trudged to the bathroom, still
wiping the sleep from my eyes, vaguely aware of the struggle ahead of me. There, in the reflection of
the mirror, my head would still be wearing yesterday s styling havoc. My hair would look back at me
with a wide grin, while dancing a jig on top of my head, and say, What are we gonna do today?!?
No! I would whine, jabbing a brush indiscriminately into the tangled

Even though the population surveyed is less than one hundred I believe the data presented gives great
insight on the questioned asked. In statistical literacy, probability as well as mean, median, mode and
more are discussed. With probability we learn how to make predictions that are pretty spot on.
Probability is defined as the likelihood that a particular outcome or event will occur, as shown in A
Particular Introduction to Statistics. So now lets take a look at the data using some statistical analysis
concepts. First, lets determine the probability of receiving a correct answer or receiving a wrong
answer. The possible outcomes is either a correct answer or a wrong answer. Therefore, the probability
equals 1 (CA) over the total of possible outcomes which is 2 (CA and WA) and 1 (WA) over 2 ( CA
and WA). Both answers give us 1/2 and since they are the only possibilities they equal 1. In
identifying the middle or average of the set of data is known as central tendency. These measures
include, mean, median, and mode. Central Tendencies can be used in this research to see what the
average number of correct responses between the groups. First we put the data set in order form
smallest to greatest. Than we divided by the total number of data sets. Which gives a mean value of 7.
This shows that the average number of correct responses among age groups is

face of education are laws being updated, schools are being filled with different cultures and races. A
law that was formed to do with education was No Child Left Behind act (NCLB). This law was passed
in 2002 to update the act of elementary and secondary education act of 1965 (Klein, 2015). This act

Bulworth s Character Analysis
The 1998 movie, Bulworth, dives into the realm of the scandalous American political system. From
income inequality, to corporate greed, Bulworth manages to put a comedic twist on a very serious set
of topics that politicians and the American public face daily. The main character, Jay Billington
Bulworth is a liberal democratic Senator from California who is running for reelection (Bulworth:
1998). He has recently accepted millions of dollars in financial campaign donations from large
corporations in order to combat his younger, populist opponent. At the beginning of the movie,
Bulworth is sitting in his office, re watching an old commercial from a prior election campaign. He
hasn t slept or eaten for days and is considering ending his life. ... Show more content on

It is an exemplary piece of work that truly portrays why American is no longer the greatest country in
the world anymore. This movie has many hidden metaphors that portray the directors cynicism of the
American system. When Bulworth drinks alcohol in front of the media, he instantly captures the
attention of the nation. This is a metaphor of how both Republicans and Democrats, along with big
business manage to exploit the media and systemically hypnotize the American people. Everyone
knows that big business dominates the two principal parties and the mass media, that things are
wretched for masses of people, that race is a diversion, that social inequality is the central issue in
American life? (Walsh:

attacked by a man in her hotel room, beaten and threatened of rape. Mrs. McCarty ultimately fought
off her attacker and he fled. The attacker was never identified nor brought to justice. Although Mrs.
McCarty did not sustain serious physical injuries, she claimed the incident caused prolonged
emotional distress which led to an early retirement. An investigation revealed that a sliding glass door,
which was concealed behind curtains, was manipulated and enabled the attacker to gain entry into her
hotel room. Mrs. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In regards to the Mrs. McCarty s sliding door, it was equipped with a lock and an additional safety
chain. The safety chain was fastened but the lock was not used. This case had evidence of negligence
but none of strict liability. There were reasonable precautions in place.
Elements of Intentional Tort Tort law enables citizens to seek reimbursement for loss and or suffering
from conduct that would be deemed dangerous or unreasonable of others (3). Tort law is non criminal
and is dealt with in our civil judicial system. The categories of Tort Law include intentional tort,
negligence and strict liability. An intentional tort case is proved by the plaintiff showing that the
defendant intentionally injured him/her (1). In a negligence case, the plaintiff shows that the defendant
did not act carefully as the law requires and therefore should be liable for any damages to the plaintiff
(1). The strict liability cases occur when a plaintiff suffers damages even though the defendant acted
carefully and with no intent of harm being done to them (1). During a trial the plaintiff will attempt to
prove their case by the presentation of evidence to the trier of fact. The evidence usually includes
testimony of persons involved; witnesses as well as physical things such as pictures,
documentation/records, recordings etc...

To Be A Good Writer
Abagail DiFeo
What does it mean to be a good writer? Is being a good writer something that just comes naturally to
certain people? Or is being a good writer something that must be taught or learned? Personally, I feel
that to be a good writer you have to really be able to think and understand what you are writing about
and who you are writing for. There are many different styles of writing. Some authors write very
literal and do not try to relate to their audience. Other authors write to relate and try to get their
audiences to understand what it is that they are writing about.
Writers while writing may form some type of process to gather ideas or organize their thoughts into
cohesive text. Once given either an idea or a prompt one must think about how they will go about
writing. To develop strong writing time must be taken to outline ideas, write drafts, submit revisions,
and be happy with the finished product. Every writer will have their own ways of handling their ...

It is very important for the writer to outline their ideas and to have very specific outcomes. When
writing to inform a good writer must be well educated in their topics and can not afford to not do their
research.
Imagination is something good writers have when writing creative fiction or descriptive text. Writers
who are able to take their audience on a journey by only using their words are some of the best
writers, in my opinion. The ability to have the audience see clearly what the author wants them to see
is a talent that not many have.
When writing a persuasive piece good writers are able to invoke strong feelings through their text.
Trying to convince someone of something is hard enough to do in person, but to be able to persuade
someone through words alone is a strong writers talent. Good writers are able to capture your attention
and keep it throughout the entire

The High Price of Urban Sprawl Essay
Urban sprawl is a social pattern describing the way cities continue to grow outward uncontrollably.
People who do not want to live in an urban atmosphere often seek refuge in suburban areas that have
access to metropolitan areas. As more people follow this trend the suburban areas slowly become
developed and new areas must be sought for people to inhabit. This leaves some city workers
commuting in trains, cars, or even buses for hours. Urban sprawl is not the luxury that it seems to be
but actually a social pattern with a great deal of costs.
Although people who submit to urban sprawl believe they are getting the best of both worlds, working
in the center of development while also living away from it, they also ... Show more content on

This means more traffic on highways, more people crowding on to trains and buses etc. Simple
economic principles enable us to see why commuting will get more and more expensive in the future.
In terms of motor vehicles, first more space will be needed to accommodate more vehicles on the
road. The United States citizens are going to have to pay for larger highways if the government
decides more highways or larger highways are needed. Although more or larger highways might seem
plausible to cure a traffic problem, more money will be needed to maintain these highways. This could
very well mean either more tolls on highways or tolls that cost more money, raising the price of the
daily commute. Once these cars reach their destination they must have a place to be parked. Car
centric cities suffer from parking problems in places where there is already so much money put
towards building parking decks or lots. The Newspaper USA today has an article called, Cars Drive
Up the Costs of Urban Sprawl that states, In addition to eating up more human time and motor fuel,
car centric cities require greater expenditures on transportation and infrastructure expenses that chip a
way at a region s economic potential... auto dependent US cities spend 12 13% of their per capita
wealth on passenger transport .

Mirror Neurons Chapter 4
Martin Lindstrom began his career at the young age of 12. It was at this age when Martin began
selling tickets to LEGO land. Martin had built LEGO land in his own backyard and the more people
that paid to visit the more interested LEGO got. It didn t take long for LEGO to send lawyers with
cease and desist letters to Martin s doorstep. Once LEGO discovered Martin s age they were amazed
and made him a member of LEGO s advisory board.
30 years later Martin has gone on to advise executives from a plethora of companies including Nestle,
Microsoft, Walt Disney, Red Bull, McDonalds, and Pepsi; just to name a few. Martin also earned a
spot on TIME Magazine s Worlds 100 Most Influential People and has written several New York

Mirror neurons are neurons that are activated by the actions we take and the actions we see others
take. For example if someone buys a new pair of shoes the neurons are activated but if the same
person sees someone else wearing a new pair of shoes the same neurons are activated. Your brain
subconsciously imagines you taking the actions that others are taking.
This phenomenon is why you cringe when you see someone get hurt. You experience their pain
momentarily and literally feel for them. The same thing can be said when you walk down the street
and see that 3 out of 5 people are using their iPhones. Your brain imagines you having an iPhone every
time you see someone using one. This causes you to want an iPhone more and more until you have
one.
This chapter is applicable to everyone. I think that we all feel like we have to buy something to fit in
at times because everyone else is doing it. It is important for us to recognize when we are doing or
purchasing something because we want it and doing or purchasing something because everyone else

Theme Of Illness In To Kill A Mockingbird
The Cure for an Invisible Illness The most dangerous illnesses and diseases are the ones that are
essentially invisible to the human eyes, as the symptoms lie just beneath the surface undetected. In
Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird an invisible illness is represented through a physical symbol,
illness and disease. Illness and disease becomes an important theme within the novel to represent
racism, as no one can see if some one is racist, the only hint of its presence are psychological
symptoms. Through this symbol, racism can be represented for what it truly is, a contagious disease
that plagues their small town of Maycomb. The only difference between racism and any other
invisible common disease is how seemingly incurable it is.
The theme of illness and disease is mentioned many times throughout the novel, but it is first
compared to racism by Atticus in chapter nine. As Scout is eavesdropping on a serious conversation
between Atticus and his brother, Jack, in which he says: ... I hope and pray I can get Jem and Scout
through it all without bitterness and most of all without catching Maycomb s usual disease . The
disease Atticus speaks of is racism, he hopes he can get his children through the events of Tom
Robinson s trial without bitterness against the people who will be prejudiced against Tom Robinson,
but most of all without them being influenced by their racist ways of thinking. After all, racism has
been shown to be contagious and itt fits the definition of a disease perfectly. Just like a regular disease,
it is as disorder of structure in a living thing, that is not simply the direct result of a physical injury,
especially one that produces specific signs or symptoms. The symptoms of racism being mainly
prejudice againt someone who appears different, as many humans fear the unknown.
In order to spread, an illness first needs to infect a host. There are two main hosts of the symbolic
racism, an elderly morphine addict and a rabid dog. Mrs Dubose is a character who has a drug
addiction, specifically to morphine, which is a type of pain killer. Atticus describes the elderly woman
as being brave, which confuses the children as they have a stereotypical definition of bravery, but

What I Learned About Management
Concrete Experience I knew that management was something I was mentally programed for from a
young age. May of 2000 was the summer going into my sophomore year of high school and I was
venturing into my first tax paying job at Sonic. I liked the structure it had, compared to the odd
summer jobs I had been picking up in the past. From the ripe age of 16, I had already began the
process of evaluating personnel, process s for improvements, and trying to create a safer work
environment for myself and those around me. With the start of my senior year quickly approaching, I
was already balancing sports, grades, college applications, and now my employer was asking me to
step up from a shift leader to assistant manager. I always had the thoughts, if I were the manager I
would do this or I would do that. The same thoughts everyone else was having, except I wasn t saying
unrealistic comments like; we would have two hour lunches and I wouldn t make anyone work Friday
nights. I was looking at how personnel were used and how their strengths were not being maximized. I
was critiquing the processes that had been in place well before I came around, that had never been
questioned. I was young and had big plans for my future that didn t include anything to do with
management. At the time, I never knew I was starting to develop skill sets that would help me reach
goals in my current career. My first year of college was cut short with my desire to join the United
States Army. All

Sociological Imagination Paper
Sociological imagination is a term that I was not familiar with until taking sociology. I quickly learned
that sociological imagination is a concept that was described by sociologist C. Wright Mills.
Sociological imagination is an awareness of the relationships between an individual and the wider
society. I began to think about this term while I did my observing. I observed three different settings in
order to find out more about the sociological imagination and how it affects our daily lives. The first
setting I observed was a collegiate football game. My family traveled to Stillwater, Oklahoma to
watch an Oklahoma State football game. I decided that this would be the perfect atmosphere to
observe the interaction of a large group of people. I quickly learned that a ... Show more content on

The groups of people I noticed were the OSU marching band, the OSU fans, the cheerleaders, the
coaches, and the opposing fans. I could tell a distinction between each of the different groups. The
second concept I observed was the different racial groups of people in the stadium. The racial groups I
saw were mostly of the Caucasian race but there were African Americans, Chinese, and Japanese
people there to watch the football game. My family sat behind a few fans that were for the opposing
team, the West Virginia Mountaineers. These particular West Virginia fans acted very obnoxious. This
leads me to the next sociological concept I observed: deviance. Deviance is behavior that violates
social norms that are expected in society. In this situation the act of being obnoxious was not
considered unusual but the foul language that the fans were saying was considered deviant. OSU
promotes a family friendly environment. The words that were being said from the West Virginia fans
were not family friendly. It is clear that the West Virginia fans did not have the same values that the
surrounding Oklahoma State fans had. A value is a collection

Wind Power s Power to Create Electricity Essay
Earth, as of today, is a world run by fuels and electricity. Every man, woman, and child is directly

these fuels and electricity isn t actually very recent at all. Wind Energy, or Wind Power when it is

Later, wind energy served mankind by energising his grain grinding mills and water pumps. During its
transformation from these crude and heavy devices to today s efficient and sophisticated machines, the
technology went through various phases of development....The earliest documented design of wind
mill dates back to 200 B.C. The Persians used wind mills from grinding grains during this period.
(Sathyajith Mathew 2) By the 14th Century, Windmills were being used as tools to drain the Rhine
delta by the Dutch. In the 1900s, the massive amount of windmills in Denmark was producing roughly
30 Megawatts of electricity. That is roughly enough electricity to power a small to medium sized
town. It is also enough to provide power to any one of these: 8,000 average homes, 400 fast food
restaurants, 60 large retail stores, 50 grocery stores, 40 large home improvement stores, 2 Sears
towers, 1 computer data center. The efficiency of a windmill, or the more modern wind turbine is one
of the most critical factors of production. With some certain wind turbines, the efficiency can and may
degrade slightly over time, but the time it takes for the production value to drop 10% is almost 20
years after the construction of that turbine, and even with that, not all turbines will degrade at that rate.
Also, not all of the energy of the blowing wind is useable, because as the scientific law of the
conservation of mass states that as much mass that enters the wind turbine must also exit

Food Allergies Essay
It is common in the United States for people to have food allergies and it is increasing. The body s
negative reaction to a specific food protein is what is known to be a food allergy. The most common
food allergies are milk and dairy products, egg and egg products, fish and shellfish, wheat, soy and
soy products, and peanuts and tree nuts (Servsafe). Different food allergies develop in people at
different times in their lives depending on the allergy and the person themselves. Fish and shellfish
food allergies tend to not develop until adulthood. With fish approximately forty percent of people
who were in a study on food allergies said that they did not have their first fish allergic reaction until
they were an adult. With shellfish, about sixty percent of people had their first reaction when they
were adults. Everyone to some extent is allergic to a type of food, but fish and shellfish food allergies

explanation as of to why i disagree that Warriors Don t Cry is not appropriate for tenth graders to read
is,that it can cause students to realize that they shouldn t judge people. In Warriors Don t Cry, Link

Eastern Woodland Indians
Europeans often thought Indians on one hand were vicious cannibals, with no social organization, but
on the other hand pictured an Indian society as being orderly, advanced, and civilized. There are nine
famous paintings I had to analyze. The pictures showed Indians were civilized people. Life among the
Eastern Woodland Indians was organized, together, and civilized in their own way. The economy for
the Woodland Indians was organized and everyone had a job. They were able to adapt to their
surroundings. For their religion they believed that every animal or living thing has a soul. So they

a tree, but they don t have axes, they only have fire. So Indians couldn t have been backwards or

work together as one. Europeans perceive Indians as unmannered and disgusting. Evidence is in
photograph nine, when they are eating off the ground and their food is laying in the dirt. It might
impact two people, because one might be an Indian or have Indian blood, and the other will think of
that one a lowly or think of that person in a bad way. Indians perceived Europeans as a problem.
Indians didn t like their government, they liked their way and their chief. Indians didn t like the
Europeans culture. The Indians thought of it as bad. The Indians didn t like the Europeans religion
either. The Europeans didn t, think all living things had a soul and they didn t give thanks to their first

  • 2. Compare And Contrast To My Dear And Loving Husband In Bradstreet´s To My Dear and Loving Husband marriage and love are presented as dazzling and foolproof. Problems make relationships substantial and the lack of them would seem too quixotic, making it very stereotyped and dull for my taste. This poem is a rainbow put into words, it illustrates an ideal relationship that could be considered mythical. Anne Bradstreet seems to image a matrimony, she aspired to possess. If ever two were one, then surely we / If ever man were loved by wife, then thee; (1 2) these lines give you the impression that she has an exaggerate self opinion towards her love life, which she set side by side to other relationships, to make evident that hers was more valuable than any other. Next she writes If ever wife was happy in a man, /Compare with me ye women if you can. (3 4)She continues the anaphora by insisting that nobody can compare with her, in ... With this in mind, she continues expressing her emotions, of course. In lines 10 12(The heavens reward thee manifold, I pray...) Bradstreet reveals she is a possessive partner, jealousy is often a sign of a low self esteem. However, she includes the religious belief to distract the audience from evidently finding out she is selfish and she really needs her husband to be with her every time while their existence continues, so they can still remain together when they ascend to heaven. Anne Bradstreet was a love desperate and needy wife with many insecurities towards her relationship with her partner. She plays with the audience by the use of intricate words to deflect the reader s attention from the big imagination and desire she possesses to obtain something she doesn t have: a perfect ... Citizenship And International Development Education University of Waikato Exploring Citizenship, Gobal Citizenship, and Global Citizenship Education Global Citizenship and International Development Education PCSS507 Professor Michael A. Peters 13 August 2015 Exploring citizenship, global citizenship, and global citizenship education Abstract With the progression of globalization, the recognition of how to be a good citizen and how to act as a good citizen in the global age has drawn more and more attention. In addition, the direction of education shifts from the knowledge and skills dissemination to building global values to be well connected in the world. This paper aims to indicate multiple understandings of citizenship and specifically interprets three dimensions of citizenship: citizenship as a status, as a practice and as a feeling. Besides, understandings about global citizenship will be explored as well. Last but not the least, how global citizenship education is applied to the concepts of citizenship and global citizenship in order to be a good citizen and act as a good citizen. Citizenship With regard to the concepts of citizenship, there have been a significant variety of understandings. Specifically, in Marshall s perspective (1950, p30), citizenship consists of civil, political, and social citizenship. In addition, Marshall argues that the development of civil citizenship expanded, involving political citizenship and social citizenship. • 5. F For False Movie Analysis F for Wellesian Orson Welles had a long career full of unexpected rises and falls that was marked by his personal desire to wow audiences and habitual straying from conventional means of entertainment. From his The War of Worlds broad cast that caused audiences to fear for their lives, to his performance in The Third Man, Welles strove to be memorable and invite audiences to rise to his standards of entertainment. He fancied himself a magician; a theme that helped progress his 1973 film F for Fake. Starting with his explosive youth into his last years, Welles accumulated several habitual stylistic and narrative devices. Even as his films diversified his stylistic themes continued to be common throughout, and the release of his questionable documentary in last portion of life proved to continue this trend. F for Fake is a collage of material that created a unique form of entertainment for the time. It is constructed in a way that does not point directly to a single theme or central character. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Early in the film the editing is shown in a flurry of confusion with only Welles s voice providing a strong grounding point. The film is seemingly built before the audience s eyes, and de Hory and Irving interact on a personal level without being physically co present. Welles then asks the audience to consider the relationship of the biographer (Irving) with his subject (de Hory). At this point Irving becomes the main focus and de Hory as his mentor. The fluidity come not from the stories the men tell, but Welles s guidance of the two. His stability and power allow him to be an expert on the matter, and like he has done with other characters in the film, Welles questions the validity of an expert. If an art officiant can verify a forged painting by de Hory as a Modigliani, then how can Welles be accepted as a truth teller? Welles shifts from the all knowing narrator, to a forger and main ... • 10. How to Teach Reported Speech 1.6. How to Teach Reported Speech Review Practice Lesson plan Teaching students reported or indirect speech can be complicated by the all the changes that are required when moving from direct speech into reported speech. First off, students should understand that reported speech is quite useful in conversational English as relating what someone has said using quote and unquote is awkward at best. • 11. Symbolism In Salinger s The Catcher In The Rye Salinger dispels common binary meanings assigned by society to many concepts, displaying the spectrum of ways people can feel or react to any situation. As seen in The Catcher in the Rye, Holden often shifts between roles such as the catcher , one who guards the innocence of youth, and the caught , the embodiment of youthful purity that must be protected. Salinger uses shifts of clothing as a recurring motif to signify shifts of position and destinies (Takeuchi), emphasizing how one s role in life can be fluid, not static. Throughout his journey, Holden Caulfield, the main protagonist and narrator of Catcher in the Rye, exhibits this through clothing such as his red hunting hat. Holden claims this hat to be a people shooting hat (Catcher in the Rye), representing his role as the catcher who seeks to hunt down the purity of childhood in other humans, not animals. Holden perceives Phoebe as perfect, constantly contrasting her the the phonies he meets. In doing so, Salinger denotes Phoebe as the ideal Holden seeks. Despite his hat denoting him as the catcher at first , Holden will at times adorn it, at others conceal it, or even transfer it to Phoebe, along with its connotative meanings. By doing this, Holden entirely diverts the traditional distinction, made by western society, between those who hunt, seek, or catch other animals, to the prey they chase, and instead shows how Holden seeks to preserve childhood innocence, yet, at times, needs the support of his sister when he is devastated. Holden s role as the catcher is constantly changing and cannot be confined to the single definition that Holden himself creates for the catcher in the rye as the person who only protects children from danger, but rather, must not be seen as an absolute. Holden himself realizes this at the climax of the books as he watches Phoebe ride the carousel and comments that if they fall off, they fall off, but it s bad if you say anything to them even though it contradicts his previous claim that he wants to stop children from failing in any way (Weesner) as the catcher in the Rye. Salinger also creates ambiguity between the roles of mature adults and innocent children through Holden, who is an adolescent that embodies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. The Plausible Theory Of Perception Direct Realism Or... Title Which is the more plausible theory of perception Direct Realism or Indirect Realism? Introduction In this essay I will consider two common theories that attempt to account for the problem of perception, namely Direct, and Indirect realism. I will outline several arguments against direct realism and show how the theory of indirect realism more plausably accounts for the problem of perception. Objections to the arguments against direct realism will be considered and possible counterarguments given. This paper will consider two theories of perception that attempt to account for this problem, namely Direct and Indirect realism, and argue against direct realism in favour of indirect realism, leading to the conclusion that indirect realism is the more plausable of the two. Background The nature of perception, such as sight, touch, and smell appears intuitively straightforward; direct and immediate access to a mind independent world (naive realism). We feel as if we looking through our eyes, as if they are open windows to an external world, and when we feel the texture of objects through haptic (touch) perception, it feels as if we are directly touching the external surface of a mind independent objecting. Sitting on a couch it intuitively feels as if one is looking at an object which exists independent of ones visual perception (e.g. the couch continues to look green and have a soft texture even if one leaves the room). The problem of perception arises from the existence ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But one thing was clear, she was not going to do whatever I wanted her to. When I was 13, I decided to grow out my pageboy style. Probability is defined as the likelihood that a particular outcome or event will occur, as shown in A Particular Introduction to Statistics. So now lets take a look at the data using some statistical analysis concepts. First, lets determine the probability of receiving a correct answer or receiving a wrong answer. The possible outcomes is either a correct answer or a wrong answer. Therefore, the probability equals 1 (CA) over the total of possible outcomes which is 2 (CA and WA) and 1 (WA) over 2 ( CA and WA). Both answers give us 1/2 and since they are the only possibilities they equal 1. In identifying the middle or average of the set of data is known as central tendency. Or is being a good writer something that must be taught or learned? Some authors write very literal and do not try to relate to their audience. Other authors write to relate and try to get their audiences to understand what it is that they are writing about. Writers while writing may form some type of process to gather ideas or organize their thoughts into cohesive text. Theme Of Illness In To Kill A Mockingbird The Cure for an Invisible Illness The most dangerous illnesses and diseases are the ones that are essentially invisible to the human eyes, as the symptoms lie just beneath the surface undetected. In Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird an invisible illness is represented through a physical symbol, illness and disease. Illness and disease becomes an important theme within the novel to represent racism, as no one can see if some one is racist, the only hint of its presence are psychological symptoms. Through this symbol, racism can be represented for what it truly is, a contagious disease that plagues their small town of Maycomb. The only difference between racism and any other invisible common disease is how seemingly incurable it is. The theme of illness and disease is mentioned many times throughout the novel, but it is first compared to racism by Atticus in chapter nine. As Scout is eavesdropping on a serious conversation between Atticus and his brother, Jack, in which he says: ... I hope and pray I can get Jem and Scout through it all without bitterness and most of all without catching Maycomb s usual disease . The disease Atticus speaks of is racism, he hopes he can get his children through the events of Tom Robinson s trial without bitterness against the people who will be prejudiced against Tom Robinson, but most of all without them being influenced by their racist ways of thinking. After all, racism has been shown to be contagious and itt fits the definition of a disease perfectly. Just like a regular disease, it is as disorder of structure in a living thing, that is not simply the direct result of a physical injury, especially one that produces specific signs or symptoms. The symptoms of racism being mainly prejudice againt someone who appears different, as many humans fear the unknown. In order to spread, an illness first needs to infect a host. There are two main hosts of the symbolic racism, an elderly morphine addict and a rabid dog. This leads me to the next sociological concept I observed: deviance. Deviance is behavior that violates social norms that are expected in society. In this situation the act of being obnoxious was not considered unusual but the foul language that the fans were saying was considered deviant. OSU promotes a family friendly environment. The words that were being said from the West Virginia fans were not family friendly. It is clear that the West Virginia fans did not have the same values that the surrounding Oklahoma State fans had. • 30. Wind Power s Power to Create Electricity Essay Earth, as of today, is a world run by fuels and electricity. Every man, woman, and child is directly affect by them, whether it is by its consumption, uses, or price. One of the more recent sources for these fuels and electricity isn t actually very recent at all. Wind Energy, or Wind Power when it is being converted into a useful form of energy, has actually been around for thousands of years. It has been used to push ships, as natural ventilation, and to pump seawater.{Insert thesis Here} James Blyth was a Scottish scientist who created the first electricity generating windmill, which powered his vacation home in Marykirk, Scotland. Later, wind energy served mankind by energising his grain grinding mills and water pumps. During its transformation from these crude and heavy devices to today s efficient and sophisticated machines, the technology went through various phases of development....The earliest documented design of wind mill dates back to 200 B.C. The Persians used wind mills from grinding grains during this period. (Sathyajith Mathew 2) By the 14th Century, Windmills were being used as tools to drain the Rhine delta by the Dutch. In the 1900s, the massive amount of windmills in Denmark was producing roughly 30 Megawatts of electricity. That is roughly enough electricity to power a small to medium sized town. It is also enough to provide power to any one of these: 8,000 average homes, 400 fast food restaurants, 60 large retail stores, 50 grocery stores, 40 large home improvement stores, 2 Sears towers, 1 computer data center. The efficiency of a windmill, or the more modern wind turbine is one of the most critical factors of production. With some certain wind turbines, the efficiency can and may degrade slightly over time, but the time it takes for the production value to drop 10% is almost 20 years after the construction of that turbine, and even with that, not all turbines will degrade at that rate. Also, not all of the energy of the blowing wind is useable, because as the scientific law of the conservation of mass states that as much mass that enters the wind turbine must also exit ... Eastern Woodland Indians Europeans often thought Indians on one hand were vicious cannibals, with no social organization, but on the other hand pictured an Indian society as being orderly, advanced, and civilized. There are nine famous paintings I had to analyze. The pictures showed Indians were civilized people. Life among the Eastern Woodland Indians was organized, together, and civilized in their own way. The economy for the Woodland Indians was organized and everyone had a job. They were able to adapt to their surroundings. For their religion they believed that every animal or living thing has a soul. So they would thank the first animal they killed of the year, but the photo shows them doing some sort of dance for their dead. For their diet they would eat what ... So Indians couldn t have been backwards or undeveloped , if they adapted without axes. To be civilized is to be able to adapt and to be able to work together as one. Europeans perceive Indians as unmannered and disgusting. Evidence is in photograph nine, when they are eating off the ground and their food is laying in the dirt. It might impact two people, because one might be an Indian or have Indian blood, and the other will think of that one a lowly or think of that person in a bad way. Indians perceived Europeans as a problem. Indians didn t like their government, they liked their way and their chief. Indians didn t like the Europeans culture. The Indians thought of it as bad. The Indians didn t like the Europeans religion either. The Europeans didn t, think all living things had a soul and they didn t give thanks to their first kill.
