It has myth surrounding it that the idol of the presiding deity levitates due a certain magnetic
material embedded in the Kalasha of the shikhara. But unfortunately the temple was destroyed by
the Muslim invaders and took away the magnificent idol of the god.
Mythologically this place has a connection to Lord Krishna and the Yaduvanshis.
This temple is used to be the navigational landmark for the sailors who sailed through the

This Fort is believed to be built in the Mauryan Era by King Samprati. But due to lack of
evidence its existence record is after the attack by Allauddin Khilji in 1303.
It is built by X, after whose name the Fort has been named, It has the second longest wall
in the world i.e. 32 km long after the Great Wall of China. A great Architect of that era
named Mandan designed the fort. According to legends it is said that X faced a lot of
difficulties in constructing the fort, and he was about the abandon the plan.
But a holy saintly man advised him to continue the construction and will be successful if a
pure hearted man sacrificed his life. Suddenly the holy man beheaded is own head and
sacrificed his own life. After that the construction of the fort was completed. It is believed
that at the entrance of the fort marks the space where the head of the holy man fell.

This fort was built by King Jaisal situated on the Trikuta Hill in the expanse of Thar
desert. Made with yellow sandstone walls are a tawny lion color during the day,
fading to honey-gold as the sun sets, thereby camouflaging the fort in the yellow
desert. For this reason, it is also known as the Sonar Quila or Golden Fort.
Inside the fort, complex tourists can find several architectural buildings which include
palaces, houses, and temples made up of soft yellow sandstone which looks as the
Fort is made up of Gold and its beauty rises with the sunset when it gleams like
melting gold.
The fort has narrow winding pathways which interlock several parts of the fort. The
complex of the Fort is so expansive that almost one-quarter of the town’s population
located in this fort itself.
The most famous splendid structures such as the Maharawals located in front of
the Chauhata Square. The foremost attraction of this place is Maharawal’s marble
throne which is placed over a flight of marble steps.
