Filling Station
Filling Station There are a lot of talented poets, especially Elizabeth Bishop. Elizabeth was born in
Worchester, Massachusetts on 1911. Bishop family died when she was young. Later on she died in
1979. Bishop wrote a poem called Filling Station. In this poem it talks about a woman, who might had
been the writer, entered into a filling station in a small town. As she was waiting she describes how
filthy the place was. In this essay I m talking about the description of the station, describes how a
family was living there, and literary elements that were used. In the poem Filling Station is a poem
about someone, who could been the writer, who visits a town gas station. At this gas station is very
odd. She notices some things that describes how the gas station looks. For example this little filling
station oil soaked, oil permeated to a disturbing, over all black translucency. She s letting the reader
know that the oil was recently used, and she s letting the reader know that there are black puddles of
oil sitting around the gas station. Normally at the Filling Station, the workers are supposed to fill your
gas, check your oil and tires, and clean off your windshield while you wait in your car. This is an
important and popular business that you see in a small towns. ... Show more content on

They were described as greasy and dirty. Even though the environment is dirty and filthy it s still
considered a home. Bishop describes many thing that proves a family lives there. Bishop notice there
was a porch behind the pumps. She describes how the family dog, plants, and furniture is all in sight.
The writer was clearly uncomfortable in that environment. Bishop went deep in her thoughts and
thinks there is a mother in the station, because she notice the plants, and how there is a doily and other

Comparing Anne Peter And The Anne Frank Book And Play
Book or Play? There s always differences and similarities between them both, in this essay I will
compare and contrast the Anne Frank book and the Anne Frank play. The book is an emotional, well
narrated story written by Anne Frank, and the play is also an emotional, well performed story based on
Anna Franks book. This story is about a 13 year old girl whom grew up during the Holocaust, and her
journey throughout it. She talks about living in the Secret Annexe and the different relationships she
built with the seven other people living with her whether it be good or bad. In each paragraph I will be
explaining the differences and similarities from traits of both the play and the book. First I will talk
about Peter and Anne, in the play Peter and Anne s first impressions were that they disliked each other
because there personalities were polar opposite, Anne is a very talkative, energetic girl and Peter is a
shy, introverted boy. Some differences between the book and the play is Peter is a very kind, clumsy
kid in the book but, in the play he s a fiery hot headed kid. Also Anne is more disrespectful and rude to
her parents and the other adults in the play, but in the book she keeps more of her anger towards her
mom and the other adults to herself, she doesn t really disrespect them as much. Some similarities of
Peter in the book and the play is, that he tries to shy away from everyone and keep to himself and he
really only plays with his cat Mouchi or talks to Anne. Some

Tupac Shakur s `` Keep Ya Head Up ``
Tupac Shakur released the song Keep Ya Head Up first in 1993 on his album Strictly for my
N.I.G.G.A.Z. , then as a single in 1994. Tupac s Keep Ya Head Up , one of his most notable and
recognizable singles, received acclaim upon its release and continues to do so. The record centers on
the social climate in the 90 s, and Tupac s own experiences from his youth. Around the time of the
song s release, Tupac s indictment in a rape case colored the reception of the song although it
remained mainly positive. Tupac speaks on multiple issues through his lyrics, making it effective as a
critique of society; moreover, the other creative devices he uses phrasing, rhythm changes, and
samples make the song effective as an artistic project and back up his social message. Tupac s rhymes
and phrases center on the treatment of women (especially black women) in America. The video also
includes a dedication to Latasha Harlins, who died at the hands of a Korean shop owner in 1991.
Underneath the dedication, reads it s still on in reference to the L.A. riots in 1992 (Genius 2010). This
song speaks about the treatment of women, life in the ghetto, and society s disregard for the poor.
Tupac repeatedly tells women that they deserve better treatment and that they should not allow
themselves to feel defeated by their circumstances. He exclaims the phrase Keep ya head up at the end
of each verse. Also, in the song he asserts his disdain for men who emotionally abuse women and

White Privilege
Data Analysis Investigation
Introduction
Research Question: Do individuals in the Midwest experience the affects of white privilege?
During this investigation I seek to explore the differences in privilege that males and females, of
different race and ethnic backgrounds, experiences in their daily lives. My fellow Sociology of Race
and Ethics classmates and I will conduct Peggy McIntosh s White Privilege survey, in hopes to find
any differences in privilege felt by individuals of varying age, gender, race or class membership.
My hypothesis is:
According to Peggy McIntosh s White Privilege survey, she suggests that white people are privileged

Exploring the Data Younger ages (less than 20) have a larger affect than old age in feeling
underprivileged . After analyzing the data, I believe my hypothesis that the ages 18 19 feel
underprivileged as compared to the older ages, was correct. This is represented in the findings, that of
the ten questions surveyed, exactly one half the questions (five of ten) the age group 18 19 had the
highest disagreement percentage compared to the other age groups. No other age group had close to
the equivalent outcomes, the closest age group being groups 24 34 and 45 50 both with two.
The findings show that in one half of all situations this age group is presented with, they feel as
though they are underprivileged as compared to other age groups, but by examining just the 18 19 age
group or age as a whole, the majority feel as though the Agree they are privileged. This finding is
universal through all independent variables. While comparing all independent variables, of the 10
survey scenarios no matter what the independent variable is 70% of the time the participants feel they
Agree to being privileged.
Exploring Data Midwesterners overall feel privileged versus underprivileged no matter the
independent factor.
After analyzing the cross tabulations, I feel as though my hypothesis about the Midwestern society is
spot on. The data

How Short and Long Term Memory Work Essay
Short and Long Term Memory Your brain collects and forgets thousands, if not millions of memories
every day. Every time you see, hear, feel, taste, and smell something, it comes into your mind and
becomes a memory. A mental note is literally taken and shipped to your short term memory file in
your brain. Whether or not it gets pushed to long term memory depends on how often you pull the
sense from your brain, because if it is used often, your brain will automatically instruct itself not to
destroy it. If you resurface those memories often enough, they will not be erased. Memory, whether
short or long term, is able to be reinforced, altered, deleted, or resurfaced.

It can be accessed and used at any point in time when still available and fresh in your mind. There are
limitations to it, of course. George Miller, PhD, tested and figured that people can generally not
remember something over seven digits long (while it is in short term memory). These remembrances
can be sent long term after increased repetition and recall. The average short term memory IQ is 49,
which is somewhat low. Some people say that long term memory is more beneficial than short term,
which is not necessarily true. This kind of memory is not preserved for extended periods of time, but
also profitable. The best way to recall items in your short term memory is to chunk it up into words or
numbers for example, try to remember the letters i g d b f d n o n u c a. This is difficult for everyone.
Now, chunk it up into words: c o u n f b a d d i n g. It helps, and is easier to remember! Short term
memory is a useful tool with many benefits.
What Does Your Long Term Memory Do? Memories are exported to long term when they are
reinforced. Long term memory is a system in your brain that permanently stores senses for later use.
Unlike short term memory, these memories cannot be retrieved quickly and may take a few seconds or
longer to retrieve. There is a debate constantly on whether or not you can forget something in your
long term memory. Most say that long term memory only decays not forgotten, just harder to

Chiron Research Paper
Introduction
You refer to my home planet as Chiron, a fairly large planet located in the Boötes constellation. My
home planet has been invaded, stripped of anything valuable. My species is almost extinct. 10 of us
and our Trainers escaped to Earth. We weren t forced to leave Chiron because of corruption, or
overpopulation. We left because of our the neighboring planet named Tartarus. I can t quite remember
how life was before The Cleansing mostly because I was merely a two year old toddler, but one thing
that I do remember, was that Chiron was beautiful, very large forests, beautiful wildlife, and at least
twice the size of this puny planet, Earth . I miss home sometimes, though I have a hard time
remembering what it was like before The Cleansing. I do remember before the escape pods left orbit
my father told me, Carry on our legacy son, whenever you re scared, think of me, your brothers, and
your mother. We will be with you forever. Be brave. and still to this day I do that. He kissed my

It was a beautiful moment, but an isolating one. More than anything, I wished my wife could have

Facilitating Better Scheduling of Smart Grid
I. INTRODUCTION A key objective of smart grid efforts is to substantially increase the penetration
of renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind. As per the Solar Mission under the National
Action Plan on Climate Change, the central government of India plans to generate up to 20 GW grid
based solar power, and cover 20 million square metres with solar energy collectors by 2020[1].
However land acquisition is a challenge to solar farm projects in India, hence there is a need to utilize
residential roof tops for harvesting of solar energy. Substantial grid integration of renewables is
challenging, since their power generation is intermittent and uncontrollable. The modern electric grid
permits households to consume electricity in essentially arbitrary quantities at any time, and is not
currently designed for vast quantities of uncontrollable generation. Instead, the grid constantly
monitors the demand for electricity, and dispatches generators to satisfy demand as it rises and falls.
Fortunately, electricity demand is highly predictable when aggregating over thousands of buildings
and homes. As a result, today s grid is able to accurately plan in advance which generators to dispatch,
and when, to satisfy demand.
The challenge with substantial integration of renewable energy is that the electricity generated by
renewables is not easily predictable in advance and varies based on both weather conditions and site
specific conditions. For large scale solar farms producing

A Short Note On Numerical Analysis Of Various Turbulence...
2 D Numerical Analysis of Various Turbulence Models in CFD for External Flow over a Cylinder
Tharikaa Ramesh kumar
Graduate Student, Aerospace Engineering, Auburn University, Auburn, AL, USA
The effects of turbulence on a flow can be predicted by Turbulence modeling in Computational Fluid
Dynamics. Numerous turbulence models have been developed over the time and are used for
envisioning the characteristics of the flow in different flow regimes in terms of time averaged
quantities for both internal and external flows. Still, one of the challenges in CFD is to simulate the
significant flow physics. Numerical analysis will be carried out to investigate the capabilities of the
various turbulence models in CFD. External flow over a cylinder ... Show more content on

Over the past decades, the laminar and turbulent unsteady viscous flow behind a circular cylinder has
been the subject of numerous experimental and numerical studies. Flow past a bluff body like the
circular cylinder usually experiences very strong flow oscillations and boundary layer separation in
the wake region behind the body. In certain Reynolds number range, a periodic flow motion will
develop in the wake as a result of boundary layer vortices being shed alternatively from either side of
the cylinder. For assessing the ability of computational flow solving software to reproduce real flow
conditions flow around a cylinder is an excellent case because of simplicity of the geometry and the
complex nature of flow around the body. The flow regimes can be divided based on the Re and the
behavior of the flow around the cylinder in these regimes as Steady axisymmetric regime (20 Re 210),
Steady planar symmetric regime (210 Re 270), Unsteady planar symmetric regime (270 Re 400),
Unsteady asymmetric regime (400 Re 1000), Turbulent wake regime (Re 1000). One of the most
important but unsolved problem in the area of engineering and sciences are Turbulence. Solving the
time dependent three dimensional Navier stokes equation might give a complete description of
turbulent flows but with the available computers are not capable enough to solve for the required
length and time

Rational Choice Theory, Social Process Theory And...
Criminology is a developing field of science that the justice system and its workers use to classify and
explain crime and criminals. Within the field, there are people that are extending theories that have
been around for some time. If they are not continuing work on an existing theory, they are developing
a new one. Our class discussed five main theories. The theories we discussed in class are Rational
Choice Theory, Trait Theory, Social Structure Theory, Social Process Theory, and Developmental
Theory. Rational Choice Theory says that a person chooses to commit the crime based on if the reward
outweighs the risk, regardless of the crime. Within this theory, there are four sub theories, General
Deterrence, Specific Deterrence, Rational Choice, and Incarceration. Each of these theories includes
the general characteristics of Rational Choice Theory and apply to either offender specific or offense
specific crimes as evaluating the risk of crime. Offender specific crimes are ... Show more content on

Offense specific crimes are crimes where the offender reacts selectively to the characteristics of a
particular criminal act(Siegel, 2011). The first of the four sub theories, General Deterrence, focuses on
the fear of punishment. The best way to enforce this is to ensure the certainty, severity, and swiftness
of the punishment. Next, the second sub theory is specific deterrence. Specific deterrence is the view
that criminal sanctions should be so powerful that offenders will never repeat their criminal acts.
Furthermore, the third sub theory is more of an extension of the second sub theory. Incapacitation says
the keeping an offender behind bars in the years they would be more likely to commit the crime
prevents them from committing crime and lowers the crime

Predicting Performance Of Post Graduate Education From...
Predicting performance in post graduate education from admissions information comparisons of health
professions with pharmacy
Richard E Wilcox, PhD* and Kenneth A Lawson, PhD ABSTRACT
Objectives. The goal of the present review was to assess the state of performance prediction in health
care programs generally, versus performance in pharmacy schools, using didactic and non didactic
admissions measures. This is important because clinical success represents a combination of skills that
are not fully predicted by either type of measure alone.
Methods. PubMed searches were conducted focusing on work published from 2000 onwards, since it
is during this period that non didactic admissions measures have come to be incorporated into the
applicant evaluation process. Relevant papers that were available as free full text were used. When
these papers were not available by direct import into EndNote, we went directly to the journal to try to
retrieve the paper.
Results. Published literature clearly showed that prediction of performance in the didactic portions of
health care programs is straightforward when based on pre health care GPA and achievement test
scores. The best predictions are achieved when both measures are combined. While significant
statistical prediction is achieved in virtually every study, the percent of total performance variance
accounted for is also consistent and uniformly small in the order of 25%. Similarly, there is now an
emerging consensus that

Homework in all my classes, two tests the next day, an essay to finish, and a soccer game in
Noblesville. This is all in one day. You miss 100% of the shots you don t take. said by the famous
Wayne Gretzky. Students all around the globe work hard to juggle being an athlete and a student
simultaneously. The foremost reason my cultural identity is centered on being a student athlete is
because it can be extremely overwhelming and the only way to stay on top of the game is to stay on
schedule. There are many different results that occur from being a student athlete such as the character
traits, and the passion that you pick up along the way. In order to be an effective student athlete not
only must a person be willing to spend the time and effort practicing, but that person must also be
prepared for all of the obstacles that can come along the way such as; stress, character flaws, and even

The Last Day of Humanity
Prologue Purpose. The very word seems to carry with it the weight of progress, of advancement, of
humanity. It is the fire that has burned in man s heart since the dawn of civilization; a cunning
tactician smiling to himself as humanity wins its battles. Purpose has driven us from the first fire to the
final frontier; it is the father of civilization. Humanity advanced, quickly. With basic survival and a
functioning society fulfilled, civilization sped up. Distances became shorter, entertainment became
quicker, and life became busy. With life moving quickly, man lost time to think. And without thought
to fuel it, purpose became sparse and unfulfilled. Mankind, in their vanity, began to attempt to
eradicate the need for purpose. Society became shallow. It pressed upon its youth, its future, mindless
norms disguised as purpose. College, careers, and retirements were laid out ahead of them, whereupon
the latest generation began to goose step into misery. Before long, midlife crises began to arise at ages
as early as 16, a harrowing thought. Absent among all this anguish was purpose; 401(k) s would not
bring meaning to one s life, nor would a management level position in a startup on the rise. Life was
no longer about the means, but rather the ends. Consequently, joy became not an experience, but a
material. A product, bought and sold in numerous markets, manufactured and pumped out of factories.
Amongst this fiasco, we find a character. Lost in the darkness, he wanders,

Why Did Diocletian Reform The Roman Empire
Diocletian understood that ruling over a major political entity like the Roman Empire was too difficult
for one ruler. This lead to the first major political reform of the Roman Empire. Diocletian s solution
to this problem was the tetrarchy. Diocletian divide the empire into 4 territories that were all ruled by a
separate leader. The tetrarchy was to help bring the empire back to the ways of the Good Emperors
where the succession of power was peaceful. Diocletian wanted the Emperors to select their
successors from the ranks of the nobles. After Diocletian s retirement in 305 CE, his hope for a
smooth transition of power quickly turned into complete chaos. Diocletian also tried to reform the
economy of the empire to provide it with stimulation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

When the defeat of Valens, the Romans allowed the barbicans to form settlements in the center of the

How did these tribes take over such a mighty empire so easily? The invaders were successful because
they came in rapid succession upon badly overextend Western empire divided politically by ambitious

Hezbollah Movement Essay
The phrase that one man s freedom fighter is to another man a terrorist is rightly illustrated by the
Hezbollah, which in itself means the party of God.
Hezbollah remains a top terrorism group to the United States and Israel. The Hezbollah s movement
main aim is to destroy Israel with their flag being an epitome on the deep feelings of hatred between
the two nations. It killed two hundred and forty one US servicemen in a single strike in 1983 to claim

conflict with Hezbollah and it vows to keep fighting, no matter the price it has to pay. The conflict has

Race Relations In American Society
Race relations in American society were a reflection on American consumerism; this consumer society
was directly tied to how Americans accessed consumer goods. Jim Crow laws dictated how and what
African Americans were permitted to consume and the creation of consumer credit redefined what
African Americans could afford to consume. The expansion of consumption under the creation of
consumer credit in the 1920s and the creation of Jim Crow laws from 1890s to the mid 1960s were
two major events that restricted African Americans from fully participating in the Consumer Society
that was being created. Jim Crow laws naturalized inequality by dignifying white work and
consumption while also degrading black work and consumption. They came to be once ... Show more

In the 1920s, automobiles began to be financed through consumer credit, as they were no longer seen
as luxury goods. Soon after the automobile finance wave emerged, financing spread to other durable
goods like televisions, radios, and the vacuums. As installment credit carried high interest rates
financing consumer credit became for the first time ever profitable, lending for the sake of
consumption appeared as people only saw low payments when taking into consideration purchasing a
durable good. The American Way of Debt Consumer by Hyman illustrates how automobile financing
came to be a person would purchase an automobile through a dealer. They would sign the dealer s
papers and agree to make payments for say 24 months and some fees for putting it all together. Once
this is all completed the dealer would take the contract and sell it to General Motors Acceptance
Corporation GMAC) who in turned issued bonds or used profits to finance the dealers. This drove up
sales and profits. This was facilitated by the private car manufactures and in the case of mortgages by
the federal government. Consumer credit exploded and remade society in its entirety; is now meant
that your ability to consume was no longer tied to your wealth, but to how much you were expected to
produce in wages. Turing that future income into present consumption was what the consumer credit
was all about . Installment sales of automobiles after World War 1 soared from around zero to sixty
percent of total car sales. The era of consumer credit was here to stay disruptions like the Great
Depression simply reworked consumer credit with new laws to [restrain] lending here and [promote]

Free Will In Sophocles Oedipus The King
The Illusion of Free Will in Sophocles Oedipus the King
Does free will truly exist? Or is free will simply a construct created by humans? A plethora of
professionals that study metaphysics have debated the controversial topic on just what exactly the
human mind is capable of.
Sophocles Oedipus the King tells the story of a king who is destined to kill his father and marry his
mother. Kurt Fosso, author of Oedipus Crux: Reasonable Doubt in Oedipus the King explores the
theory of determinism in Sophocles Greek tragedy. In contrast, P.H. Vellacott leans toward a fatalistic
point of view in his article, The Guilt of Oedipus. Personally, in the case of Oedipus, free will was an
illusion as he was ultimately doomed to fulfill the prophecy.
Kurt Fosso requires his class to read the Greek tragedy, Oedipus the King. Time after time, his
students will rely on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
P.H. Vellacott notions that The terrible destiny of Oedipus is shown as one put upon him by
supernatural powers in general, by that comprehensive Fate which governs every man s life.
(Vellacott, 139). All the events that take place during our lives are not a result of coincidence. For
example, Oedipus finding himself at the place where three roads meet is not due to bad luck; he was
fated by a super natural power. Outside forces are responsible for all that is malevolent and virtuous in
our lives.
From a fatalistic point of view (like that of Vellacott s), Oedipus free will was nonexistent since the
beginning. This doesn t mean that Fosso s determinist mentality is wrong. Oedipus was a victim; a
pawn of the gods. Unfortunately, everything he did or could have done lead him closer to actualizing
the prophecy. It is unlikely that we will ever know whether humans do in fact have free will. In the
meantime, we can choose to believe that free will exists; even if our fate is already written in the

The Creation Of Historical Formation
The emergence of Arabism has been an endless debate amongst scholars. The primordialists claim
Arabism is a creation of historical formation, whilst on the other hand, the modernists refer to Arabism
as a product of modernity. Similarly, the end of Arabism is also contested. The orthodox position
argues Arabism ended following the defeat of 1967 and the death of Gamal Abdul Nasser, President of
Egypt between 1954 70 (Ajami, 1978). Whereas, Kramer (1996) states the rise of political Islam
weakened the effectiveness of Arab unity. In more general terms, Arabism may be viewed as an
idealistic concept that offered unrealistic objectives, limiting its ability to become successful (Farah,
1987). The definitions concerning Arabism can sometimes be interpreted differently by scholars. For
this essay, Arab nationalism and Pan Arabism will be discussed as similar entities, these terms can be
defined as a nationalist desire to seek a union of all Arabs in a single state. Whereas, Arabism can be
defined through more broad terms which encompasses a common identity between Arabs, regardless
of having a united Arab state or not. This essay will argue that Arabism, including Arab nationalism
and Pan Arabism failed due to a combination of reasons. An ideology applied to an entire region,
instead of a one nation state will prominently be accompanied with complications. Within the Arab
states, there is a division of loyalties, competing ideologies and a disunited Arab front. For these
reasons,

Defies Reason through Faith
St. Anthony was born in Lisbon, Portugal in 1195 A.D. He wanted to live his life above himself as to
give meaning to his own life. St. Anthony chose to become a member of the Congregation of Canons
Regular of St. Augustine at the age of fifteen. At the congregation, he dedicated his life to the practice
of piety in the Monastery at Coimbra. While in the congregation, some of his fellow friars went to
Morocco to preach the Gospel of Christ. In Morocco, the friars were brutally tortured for their faith.
Christian merchants consummated in recovering the friars remains and returned in mastery back to
Coimbra. When they returned, St. Anthony was seized with an unwavering desire to suffer martyrdom

his arms around his parents, and they were very grateful for what St. Anthony had done for them. St.
Anthony showed his faith in God by defying the fact the man was dead and bringing him back to life.4
Many people heard about all the miracles that St. Anthony was doing. A woman was returning home
from one of St. Anthony s sermons found her child dead in his cradle. She was in such great grief not
knowing what to do when the great Wonder worker came across her mind. The woman went to him
with certainty and told him that her son was dead. She asked him to have sympathy for a mother s
tears. St. Anthony told her to go back home and that God had answered her prayers. Believing what he
had told her, she went home and found her child not only alive, but well and playing with marbles.
Anthony dispersed so many miracles and Divine favours that people called him The Sower of
Miracles. 5 Anthony had finished his Commentary on the Psalms, during a time of observation and
meditation. After the strenuous religious life and its constant severity, he was determined to return to
regular life. He finished his manuscript and fled. A young scoundrel stole a copy of St. Anthony s
manuscript, most likely hoping to

Roman Aqueducts Essay
Ancient Roman aqueducts are some of the most impressive architectural remnants of the once
dominant Roman Empire. The technological advances that were made around the first century AD by
both the Greeks and Romans in the areas of architecture, construction, and design, were cutting edge
to say the very least. There were also quite clearly abundant practical applications for the Roman
aqueducts in Rome, Italy. Even as Rome s population exceeded 1 million people around the year 120
AD, the aqueducts capably and efficiently supplied clean and potable drinking water not only to Rome
itself, but also to a number of the large cities and small towns in the Empire, and other points of

the technology concerned and the evolution of their technical capabilities over the chronological
period. Each presentation reviews the issues and recent contributions, and defines the capacities and
accomplishments of the technology in the context of the society that used it, the available
technological shelf, and the resources consumed. These studies introduce and synthesize the results of

studied with a number of fantastic professors. Yet shortly after, I realized that it was not enough for

further to do great things outside of the typical college classes.

Exciting Little Moments That Aren t Anymore
Exciting Little Moments That Aren t Anymore There were so many fun games that I used to play as a
kid. Games like lava monster involved us jumping and running from one part of a playground to
another and making sure we didn t get caught by the lava monster. Tag and freeze tag got somewhat
dangerous because if we got cornered by the person who was it, we would try to make sure not to get
caught ― for example, jumping off of the play structures to run away. Four square, four corners,
waterfall and jump rope were all classic games that we played. Jump rope was a challenging game. We
would sing songs as we jumped rope like Bubble Gum, Bubble Gum , Ice Cream Soda , Miss Mary
Mack , or Cinderella and try to get the jumper to miss and even add different challenges to do while
you were jumping rope like in Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear :
Teddy bear, teddy bear,
Turn around.
Teddy bear, teddy bear,
Touch the ground.
Nowadays, it s pretty much just sitting there with a piece of technology right in front of me. In my free
time, I used to frequently go outside to play at the park, with my rabbits, read, watch TV, or play with
legos. Now, I m usually spending my time indoors, making things, reading, surfing the web or binge
watching shows on my laptop. In middle school during lunchtime, some days my friends and I would
eat lunch and chill, walk and talk, or play games like four square. I recall my friends rushing out the

Orion Negotiation Or The Hunt Explanation
I have chosen the Orion constellation, or the hunter constellation as some call it. I chose this
constellation because it is a beautiful constellation. Orion is the brightest and most beautiful of the
winter constellations. Some of its stars, including Betelgeuse and Rigel, are among the brightest stars.
While it was named after the hunter in Greek mythology it is definitely not stealthy. Orion is one of
the most prominent and recognizable constellations in the sky and can be seen throughout the world. It
is located on the celestial equator.
According to mythology, Orion proclaimed himself the greatest hunter in the world, to the dismay of
Hera, wife of Zeus. Hera had a scorpion kill Orion and Zeus put him into the sky as a constellation.

The Treaty Of The European Union
On Thursday, June 23rd, 2016, the United Kingdom invoked Article 50 of the Treaty of the European
Union and voted to whether or not to leave the European Union. This June 2016 referendum, which is
most commonly known as Brexit, had the largest voter turnout in the United Kingdom since the 1992
General Election, roughly 33.5 million voters. The referendum resulted fifty two percent in favor of
leaving the European Union. The separation process is difficult. By just agreeing to the negotiations to
separate from the European Union, there has been significant political and economic impacts affecting
the United Kingdom and the rest of the world. The day following the vote that favored leaving the
European Union, the Pound, Britain s currency, went from $1.50 to $1.28, the lowest it s been in over
three decades (Kottasova). In an effort to not deal with the EU negotiations, David Cameron, the
United Kingdom s Prime Minister, resigned from his position on July 13th, effectively ending his six
year holding on the position. Brexit is an example of when nationalism and frustration mix together
and motivates a society to make a decision possible which was unforeseeable prior. It can be deduced
that the three contributing factors to the success of the Brexit vote are Economics, Nationalism, and
Political Elitism. Understanding the history of the relationships between the European Union, political
parties in the United Kingdom, and the citizen of the United Kingdom.

Optimization of Ritalin for more Effective Results Essay
Ritalin (Methylphenidate) Optimization
Ritalin Pills
Abstract:
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is currently the dominating psychiatric disorder
found in children. The creation of the drug Ritalin based on the molecule
Methylphenidate in the early 90 s sparked a widespread use of this psycho stimulant, which still
remains as one of the most popular drugs used to counteract the symptoms of ADHD. My ultimate
goal in this research project is to design analogs for the drug Ritalin in the hopes of discovering a
more effective version of this medication. Through research, it can be concluded that none the analogs
suggested are suitable candidates for new drugs based on the results.
Introduction:

The molecular structure of methylphenidate contains a phenethylamine portion which superimposes
on its supposed neural substrates dopamine and norepinephrine, allowing it to interact with its
intended receptor (figure 2). (1) A closer examination of this compound s molecular structure reveals
that it complies with Lipinski s rule of five, even though its partition coefficient is yet to be found. It
molecular structure contains 3 hydrogen acceptors and 1 hydrogen donor, whiles its molecular weight
is 233.31 g/mol, well under the suggested limit of 500 g/mol.
In this project, analogs of the drug compound Ritalin (methylphenidate) will be designed in order to
attempt to optimize it. When the designs ar e complete, the software provided by the chemistry
department of UC Davis will be used to generate the necessary data to predict their effectiveness and
assess their potential in becoming suitable candidates for new drugs.
Fig. 2: Methylphenidate compared to
Dopamine and Amphetamine
The first analog of Ritalin (figure 3) has a structure that is somewhat similar to that of the original
drug. However, the ester functional group(figure 4) is replaced by an imine group (figure 5). This
creates a molecule that has one less hydrogen bond acceptor, making it less polar then the original
structure of Ritalin. The possible consequences of this change consist of both a

The Thune and Ansoff studies supported the use of long range planning. In the Thune study, they
gathered information from 36 firms representing six industries (Rue amp; Fulmer, 1973, 67). He
placed each of the plans from the responding firms in two different categories, formal and informal.
Five different criteria were used to measure each of the plans to determine the effectiveness. His
hypothesis was that companies who use long range planning are more successful and he backed up
and confirmed his theory with the companies that are involved in the drug, chemical, and machinery
industries (Rue amp; Fulmer, 1973, 67). The Ansoff study dealt more with the companies in
manufacturing and their acquisitions. He received 93 replies in the 412 he sent out. He used 21
different criteria in his study and found that the companies who did not plan did not have as much
success as those that did. (Rue amp; Fulmer, 1973, 67 68) Leslie Rue from Indiana University and
Robert Fulmer from Trinity University conducted their own study to see if it makes a difference
financially to do long range planning. They also wanted to determine if it was important to use more
sophisticated techniques. They categorized the company s plans in to 4 different categories that ranged
from no plan to very detailed planning. They then placed each into their own class of financial
performance: sales growth, earning growth,

The School District of Abington Township, Pennsylvania v. Schempp was a decision that did not
forbid the reading of the Bible in a public school what was illegal was the required readings of the
Bible as a religious exercise. Many religious leaders and other people similar to those have said that
the government have taken God out of schools! but in reality they didn t they just have forbidden
religious exercise that break the First and Fourteenth Amendment. The government has a neutral
ground that they do not intend to be contrary towards religion or to aid in establishing worldly or
secularism in the schools. The government did not prohibit the Bible reading as an independent or
individual act by teachers or students. There is no illegal action for students to be disallowed to bring a
Bible to school and read it silently during their spare time. Also a teacher should have the same
freedom. Prayer and the reading of the Bible are both very personnel acts of worship. Reading the
Bible can be taken in private and public places because it is a private act which is most significant to a
person. The religious intention of the Bible reading is a form of communication between God and a
person on earth. When the Bible reading becomes an empty ritual, it decreases the influence or

Adoption by Same Sex Couples
19th Annual Robyn Rafferty Mathias Conference
I. Introduction
In recent years, there has been an increase in same sex couples applying to adopt children at both
infancy and from the foster care system. Although society s perception of a family normally consists
of a mother and father, the times are changing. According to the United States 2000 Census, this
societal perception of a normal family, referred to as the nuclear family , only represents less than
24%, of households in the U.S. The notion of the nuclear family is ever changing in today s society,

By allowing same sex couples to adopt, children who would normally linger and age out of the foster

II. Parenting Capabilities of Same Sex Couples One of the main reasons that some individuals feel that
same sex couples should be banned from adopting children is due to the belief that they are incapable.
There are various amounts of scientific research compiled by the American Civil Liberties Union that
shows that the parenting practices of same sex couples are just as good as those of heterosexual
couples. The ACLU released a document entitled Too High a Price: The Case Against Restricting Gay
Parenting. In this document there is a detailed overview of the scientific research done in this field.
This research focuses on the psychological, emotional, social, and cognitive developments of children
raised by same sex couples, the quality of parenting of these couples, and the sexual and gender
development of the child or children in their home. In looking at these key factors, researchers were
better able to make comparisons between same sex couples and heterosexual couples. These studies
used various groups of people including single lesbian mothers, gay fathers, heterosexual couples, and
heterosexual single parents. In order to conduct the studies, researchers used psychological tactics,
which included both interviews and intensive examinations of both the parents and children.

  • 2. Filling Station Filling Station There are a lot of talented poets, especially Elizabeth Bishop. Elizabeth was born in Worchester, Massachusetts on 1911. Bishop family died when she was young. Later on she died in 1979. Bishop wrote a poem called Filling Station. In this poem it talks about a woman, who might had been the writer, entered into a filling station in a small town. As she was waiting she describes how filthy the place was. In this essay I m talking about the description of the station, describes how a family was living there, and literary elements that were used. In the poem Filling Station is a poem about someone, who could been the writer, who visits a town gas station. At this gas station is very odd. She notices some things that describes how the gas station looks. For example this little filling station oil soaked, oil permeated to a disturbing, over all black translucency. She s letting the reader know that the oil was recently used, and she s letting the reader know that there are black puddles of oil sitting around the gas station. Normally at the Filling Station, the workers are supposed to fill your gas, check your oil and tires, and clean off your windshield while you wait in your car. This is an important and popular business that you see in a small towns. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They were described as greasy and dirty. • 3. Comparing Anne Peter And The Anne Frank Book And Play Book or Play? There s always differences and similarities between them both, in this essay I will compare and contrast the Anne Frank book and the Anne Frank play. The book is an emotional, well narrated story written by Anne Frank, and the play is also an emotional, well performed story based on Anna Franks book. This story is about a 13 year old girl whom grew up during the Holocaust, and her journey throughout it. She talks about living in the Secret Annexe and the different relationships she built with the seven other people living with her whether it be good or bad. In each paragraph I will be explaining the differences and similarities from traits of both the play and the book. First I will talk about Peter and Anne, in the play Peter and Anne s first impressions were that they disliked each other because there personalities were polar opposite, Anne is a very talkative, energetic girl and Peter is a shy, introverted boy. Some differences between the book and the play is Peter is a very kind, clumsy kid in the book but, in the play he s a fiery hot headed kid. Also Anne is more disrespectful and rude to her parents and the other adults in the play, but in the book she keeps more of her anger towards her mom and the other adults to herself, she doesn t really disrespect them as much. Some similarities of Peter in the book and the play is, that he tries to shy away from everyone and keep to himself and he really only plays with his cat Mouchi or talks to Anne. Some ... • 4. Tupac Shakur s `` Keep Ya Head Up `` Tupac Shakur released the song Keep Ya Head Up first in 1993 on his album Strictly for my N.I.G.G.A.Z. , then as a single in 1994. Tupac s Keep Ya Head Up , one of his most notable and recognizable singles, received acclaim upon its release and continues to do so. The record centers on the social climate in the 90 s, and Tupac s own experiences from his youth. Around the time of the song s release, Tupac s indictment in a rape case colored the reception of the song although it remained mainly positive. Tupac speaks on multiple issues through his lyrics, making it effective as a critique of society; moreover, the other creative devices he uses phrasing, rhythm changes, and samples make the song effective as an artistic project and back up his social message. Tupac s rhymes and phrases center on the treatment of women (especially black women) in America. The video also includes a dedication to Latasha Harlins, who died at the hands of a Korean shop owner in 1991. Underneath the dedication, reads it s still on in reference to the L.A. riots in 1992 (Genius 2010). This song speaks about the treatment of women, life in the ghetto, and society s disregard for the poor. Tupac repeatedly tells women that they deserve better treatment and that they should not allow themselves to feel defeated by their circumstances. He exclaims the phrase Keep ya head up at the end of each verse. Also, in the song he asserts his disdain for men who emotionally abuse women and leave ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During this investigation I seek to explore the differences in privilege that males and females, of different race and ethnic backgrounds, experiences in their daily lives. My fellow Sociology of Race and Ethics classmates and I will conduct Peggy McIntosh s White Privilege survey, in hopes to find any differences in privilege felt by individuals of varying age, gender, race or class membership. My hypothesis is: According to Peggy McIntosh s White Privilege survey, she suggests that white people are privileged with what she describes as an invisible package of unearned assets, which I (Peggy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Exploring the Data Younger ages (less than 20) have a larger affect than old age in feeling underprivileged . After analyzing the data, I believe my hypothesis that the ages 18 19 feel underprivileged as compared to the older ages, was correct. This is represented in the findings, that of the ten questions surveyed, exactly one half the questions (five of ten) the age group 18 19 had the highest disagreement percentage compared to the other age groups. No other age group had close to the equivalent outcomes, the closest age group being groups 24 34 and 45 50 both with two. The findings show that in one half of all situations this age group is presented with, they feel as though they are underprivileged as compared to other age groups, but by examining just the 18 19 age group or age as a whole, the majority feel as though the Agree they are privileged. This finding is universal through all independent variables. While comparing all independent variables, of the 10 survey scenarios no matter what the independent variable is 70% of the time the participants feel they Agree to being privileged. Exploring Data Midwesterners overall feel privileged versus underprivileged no matter the independent factor. After analyzing the cross tabulations, I feel as though my hypothesis about the Midwestern society is spot on. The data ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. How Short and Long Term Memory Work Essay Short and Long Term Memory Your brain collects and forgets thousands, if not millions of memories every day. Every time you see, hear, feel, taste, and smell something, it comes into your mind and becomes a memory. A mental note is literally taken and shipped to your short term memory file in your brain. Whether or not it gets pushed to long term memory depends on how often you pull the sense from your brain, because if it is used often, your brain will automatically instruct itself not to destroy it. If you resurface those memories often enough, they will not be erased. Memory, whether short or long term, is able to be reinforced, altered, deleted, or resurfaced. How Different Are Short and Long Term Memory? Short term memory ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It can be accessed and used at any point in time when still available and fresh in your mind. There are limitations to it, of course. George Miller, PhD, tested and figured that people can generally not remember something over seven digits long (while it is in short term memory). These remembrances can be sent long term after increased repetition and recall. The average short term memory IQ is 49, which is somewhat low. Some people say that long term memory is more beneficial than short term, which is not necessarily true. This kind of memory is not preserved for extended periods of time, but also profitable. The best way to recall items in your short term memory is to chunk it up into words or numbers for example, try to remember the letters i g d b f d n o n u c a. This is difficult for everyone. Now, chunk it up into words: c o u n f b a d d i n g. It helps, and is easier to remember! Short term memory is a useful tool with many benefits. What Does Your Long Term Memory Do? Memories are exported to long term when they are reinforced. Long term memory is a system in your brain that permanently stores senses for later use. Unlike short term memory, these memories cannot be retrieved quickly and may take a few seconds or longer to retrieve. There is a debate constantly on whether or not you can forget something in your long term memory. Most say that long term memory only decays not forgotten, just harder to ... My home planet has been invaded, stripped of anything valuable. My species is almost extinct. 10 of us and our Trainers escaped to Earth. We weren t forced to leave Chiron because of corruption, or overpopulation. We left because of our the neighboring planet named Tartarus. I can t quite remember how life was before The Cleansing mostly because I was merely a two year old toddler, but one thing that I do remember, was that Chiron was beautiful, very large forests, beautiful wildlife, and at least twice the size of this puny planet, Earth . I miss home sometimes, though I have a hard time remembering what it was like before The Cleansing. I do remember before the escape pods left orbit my father told me, Carry on our legacy son, whenever you re scared, think of me, your brothers, and your mother. We will be with you forever. The student can be given the facts and see the grandiose views of unique natural settings, but they cannot experience a positive social interaction with his classmates. John Patrick Puller, a first time user of Virtual Reality had experienced a setting where he was placed in the waters to see a whale. He states, It was a beautiful moment, but an isolating one. More than anything, I wished my wife could have been there to share the undersea experience with me. I wanted her to know this awe inspiring beauty (Pullen). The user s trip to the sea was nothing without his partner. • 9. Facilitating Better Scheduling of Smart Grid I. INTRODUCTION A key objective of smart grid efforts is to substantially increase the penetration of renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind. As per the Solar Mission under the National Action Plan on Climate Change, the central government of India plans to generate up to 20 GW grid based solar power, and cover 20 million square metres with solar energy collectors by 2020[1]. However land acquisition is a challenge to solar farm projects in India, hence there is a need to utilize residential roof tops for harvesting of solar energy. Substantial grid integration of renewables is challenging, since their power generation is intermittent and uncontrollable. The modern electric grid permits households to consume electricity in essentially arbitrary quantities at any time, and is not currently designed for vast quantities of uncontrollable generation. Instead, the grid constantly monitors the demand for electricity, and dispatches generators to satisfy demand as it rises and falls. Fortunately, electricity demand is highly predictable when aggregating over thousands of buildings and homes. As a result, today s grid is able to accurately plan in advance which generators to dispatch, and when, to satisfy demand. The challenge with substantial integration of renewable energy is that the electricity generated by renewables is not easily predictable in advance and varies based on both weather conditions and site specific conditions. For large scale solar farms producing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. A Short Note On Numerical Analysis Of Various Turbulence... 2 D Numerical Analysis of Various Turbulence Models in CFD for External Flow over a Cylinder Tharikaa Ramesh kumar Graduate Student, Aerospace Engineering, Auburn University, Auburn, AL, USA The effects of turbulence on a flow can be predicted by Turbulence modeling in Computational Fluid Dynamics. Numerous turbulence models have been developed over the time and are used for envisioning the characteristics of the flow in different flow regimes in terms of time averaged quantities for both internal and external flows. Still, one of the challenges in CFD is to simulate the significant flow physics. Numerical analysis will be carried out to investigate the capabilities of the various turbulence models in CFD. External flow over a cylinder ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Over the past decades, the laminar and turbulent unsteady viscous flow behind a circular cylinder has been the subject of numerous experimental and numerical studies. Flow past a bluff body like the circular cylinder usually experiences very strong flow oscillations and boundary layer separation in the wake region behind the body. In certain Reynolds number range, a periodic flow motion will develop in the wake as a result of boundary layer vortices being shed alternatively from either side of the cylinder. For assessing the ability of computational flow solving software to reproduce real flow conditions flow around a cylinder is an excellent case because of simplicity of the geometry and the complex nature of flow around the body. The flow regimes can be divided based on the Re and the behavior of the flow around the cylinder in these regimes as Steady axisymmetric regime (20 Re 210), Steady planar symmetric regime (210 Re 270), Unsteady planar symmetric regime (270 Re 400), Unsteady asymmetric regime (400 Re 1000), Turbulent wake regime (Re 1000). One of the most important but unsolved problem in the area of engineering and sciences are Turbulence. Within the field, there are people that are extending theories that have been around for some time. If they are not continuing work on an existing theory, they are developing a new one. Our class discussed five main theories. The theories we discussed in class are Rational Choice Theory, Trait Theory, Social Structure Theory, Social Process Theory, and Developmental Theory. Rational Choice Theory says that a person chooses to commit the crime based on if the reward outweighs the risk, regardless of the crime. Within this theory, there are four sub theories, General Deterrence, Specific Deterrence, Rational Choice, and Incarceration. Each of these theories includes the general characteristics of Rational Choice Theory and apply to either offender specific or offense specific crimes as evaluating the risk of crime. Offender specific crimes are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Offense specific crimes are crimes where the offender reacts selectively to the characteristics of a particular criminal act(Siegel, 2011). The first of the four sub theories, General Deterrence, focuses on the fear of punishment. The best way to enforce this is to ensure the certainty, severity, and swiftness of the punishment. Next, the second sub theory is specific deterrence. Specific deterrence is the view that criminal sanctions should be so powerful that offenders will never repeat their criminal acts. Furthermore, the third sub theory is more of an extension of the second sub theory. Incapacitation says the keeping an offender behind bars in the years they would be more likely to commit the crime prevents them from committing crime and lowers the crime ... Predicting performance in post graduate education from admissions information comparisons of health professions with pharmacy Richard E Wilcox, PhD* and Kenneth A Lawson, PhD ABSTRACT Objectives. The goal of the present review was to assess the state of performance prediction in health care programs generally, versus performance in pharmacy schools, using didactic and non didactic admissions measures. This is important because clinical success represents a combination of skills that are not fully predicted by either type of measure alone. Methods. PubMed searches were conducted focusing on work published from 2000 onwards, since it is during this period that non didactic admissions measures have come to be incorporated into the applicant evaluation process. Relevant papers that were available as free full text were used. When these papers were not available by direct import into EndNote, we went directly to the journal to try to retrieve the paper. Results. Published literature clearly showed that prediction of performance in the didactic portions of health care programs is straightforward when based on pre health care GPA and achievement test scores. The best predictions are achieved when both measures are combined. While significant statistical prediction is achieved in virtually every study, the percent of total performance variance accounted for is also consistent and uniformly small in the order of 25%. Similarly, there is now an emerging consensus that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is the fire that has burned in man s heart since the dawn of civilization; a cunning tactician smiling to himself as humanity wins its battles. Purpose has driven us from the first fire to the final frontier; it is the father of civilization. Humanity advanced, quickly. With basic survival and a functioning society fulfilled, civilization sped up. Distances became shorter, entertainment became quicker, and life became busy. With life moving quickly, man lost time to think. And without thought to fuel it, purpose became sparse and unfulfilled. Mankind, in their vanity, began to attempt to eradicate the need for purpose. Society became shallow. It pressed upon its youth, its future, mindless norms disguised as purpose. College, careers, and retirements were laid out ahead of them, whereupon the latest generation began to goose step into misery. Before long, midlife crises began to arise at ages as early as 16, a harrowing thought. Absent among all this anguish was purpose; 401(k) s would not bring meaning to one s life, nor would a management level position in a startup on the rise. Life was no longer about the means, but rather the ends. Consequently, joy became not an experience, but a material. This lead to the first major political reform of the Roman Empire. Diocletian s solution to this problem was the tetrarchy. The tetrarchy was to help bring the empire back to the ways of the Good Emperors where the succession of power was peaceful. Diocletian wanted the Emperors to select their successors from the ranks of the nobles. The American Way of Debt Consumer by Hyman illustrates how automobile financing came to be a person would purchase an automobile through a dealer. They would sign the dealer s papers and agree to make payments for say 24 months and some fees for putting it all together. The primordialists claim Arabism is a creation of historical formation, whilst on the other hand, the modernists refer to Arabism as a product of modernity. Similarly, the end of Arabism is also contested. The orthodox position argues Arabism ended following the defeat of 1967 and the death of Gamal Abdul Nasser, President of Egypt between 1954 70 (Ajami, 1978). Whereas, Kramer (1996) states the rise of political Islam weakened the effectiveness of Arab unity. In more general terms, Arabism may be viewed as an idealistic concept that offered unrealistic objectives, limiting its ability to become successful (Farah, 1987). The definitions concerning Arabism can sometimes be interpreted differently by scholars. For this essay, Arab nationalism and Pan Arabism will be discussed as similar entities, these terms can be defined as a nationalist desire to seek a union of all Arabs in a single state. Whereas, Arabism can be defined through more broad terms which encompasses a common identity between Arabs, regardless of having a united Arab state or not. This essay will argue that Arabism, including Arab nationalism and Pan Arabism failed due to a combination of reasons. I chose this constellation because it is a beautiful constellation. Orion is the brightest and most beautiful of the winter constellations. Some of its stars, including Betelgeuse and Rigel, are among the brightest stars. While it was named after the hunter in Greek mythology it is definitely not stealthy. Orion is one of the most prominent and recognizable constellations in the sky and can be seen throughout the world. It is located on the celestial equator. According to mythology, Orion proclaimed himself the greatest hunter in the world, to the dismay of Hera, wife of Zeus. Hera had a scorpion kill Orion and Zeus put him into the sky as a constellation. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This paper addresses the historical context and the public need for the Federal Judiciary Act of 1789 (the Act ). The paper then describes the major components of the Act and the policy issues the Act attempted to address at the time of its enactment. Finally, this paper evaluates the Act s impact on the American justice system over the past almost two and a half centuries. This is an unbiased paper written with the sole intent to research and report on the Federal Judiciary Act of 1789. Keywords: Judiciary System, Constitution, Article III, Supreme Court, Jurisdiction, Congress, Judicial Branch, Federal Court, State Court, Local Court Federal Judiciary Act of 1789 Public Need A compelling public need existed with respect to the passage of the Federal Judiciary Act of 1989 ( the Act ). The basic provisions of Article III of the newly ratified US Constitution needed to be implemented and further defined (ch. 20, 1 Stat. 73). Article III, Section I, of the U.S. Constitution prescribed: [T]he judicial power of the United States, shall be vested in one Supreme Court, and such inferior Courts as Congress saw fit to establish. The Constitution, however, made no provision for the composition, procedures, jurisdiction or funding ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many of its provisions are still in effect today. In many ways, the legacy of an independent judiciary, which is one of the strongest attributes of the American democratic experience, can be traced to the Act s role in implementing the general provisions of Article III of the Constitution ( Thomas Jefferson: Domestic Affairs Miller center , 2017). The Act not only gave definition and structure to the federal judiciary system but it also considered (and affected) the rights of the states and the jurisdiction of state courts (Networks, ... • 33. The Treaty Of The European Union On Thursday, June 23rd, 2016, the United Kingdom invoked Article 50 of the Treaty of the European Union and voted to whether or not to leave the European Union. This June 2016 referendum, which is most commonly known as Brexit, had the largest voter turnout in the United Kingdom since the 1992 General Election, roughly 33.5 million voters. The referendum resulted fifty two percent in favor of leaving the European Union. The separation process is difficult. By just agreeing to the negotiations to separate from the European Union, there has been significant political and economic impacts affecting the United Kingdom and the rest of the world. The day following the vote that favored leaving the European Union, the Pound, Britain s currency, went from $1.50 to $1.28, the lowest it s been in over three decades (Kottasova). In an effort to not deal with the EU negotiations, David Cameron, the United Kingdom s Prime Minister, resigned from his position on July 13th, effectively ending his six year holding on the position. Brexit is an example of when nationalism and frustration mix together and motivates a society to make a decision possible which was unforeseeable prior. It can be deduced that the three contributing factors to the success of the Brexit vote are Economics, Nationalism, and Political Elitism. Understanding the history of the relationships between the European Union, political parties in the United Kingdom, and the citizen of the United Kingdom. Brexit s History ... • 34. Optimization of Ritalin for more Effective Results Essay Ritalin (Methylphenidate) Optimization Ritalin Pills Abstract: Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is currently the dominating psychiatric disorder found in children. The creation of the drug Ritalin based on the molecule Methylphenidate in the early 90 s sparked a widespread use of this psycho stimulant, which still remains as one of the most popular drugs used to counteract the symptoms of ADHD. My ultimate goal in this research project is to design analogs for the drug Ritalin in the hopes of discovering a more effective version of this medication. Through research, it can be concluded that none the analogs suggested are suitable candidates for new drugs based on the results. Introduction: With 3 5 percent of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The molecular structure of methylphenidate contains a phenethylamine portion which superimposes on its supposed neural substrates dopamine and norepinephrine, allowing it to interact with its intended receptor (figure 2). (1) A closer examination of this compound s molecular structure reveals that it complies with Lipinski s rule of five, even though its partition coefficient is yet to be found. It molecular structure contains 3 hydrogen acceptors and 1 hydrogen donor, whiles its molecular weight is 233.31 g/mol, well under the suggested limit of 500 g/mol. In this project, analogs of the drug compound Ritalin (methylphenidate) will be designed in order to attempt to optimize it. When the designs ar e complete, the software provided by the chemistry department of UC Davis will be used to generate the necessary data to predict their effectiveness and assess their potential in becoming suitable candidates for new drugs. Fig. 2: Methylphenidate compared to Dopamine and Amphetamine The first analog of Ritalin (figure 3) has a structure that is somewhat similar to that of the original drug. However, the ester functional group(figure 4) is replaced by an imine group (figure 5). This creates a molecule that has one less hydrogen bond acceptor, making it less polar then the original structure of Ritalin. The possible consequences of this change consist of both a ... The Thune and Ansoff studies supported the use of long range planning. In the Thune study, they gathered information from 36 firms representing six industries (Rue amp; Fulmer, 1973, 67). He placed each of the plans from the responding firms in two different categories, formal and informal. Five different criteria were used to measure each of the plans to determine the effectiveness. His hypothesis was that companies who use long range planning are more successful and he backed up and confirmed his theory with the companies that are involved in the drug, chemical, and machinery industries (Rue amp; Fulmer, 1973, 67). The Ansoff study dealt more with the companies in manufacturing and their acquisitions. He received 93 replies in the 412 he sent out. He used 21 different criteria in his study and found that the companies who did not plan did not have as much success as those that did. (Rue amp; Fulmer, 1973, 67 68) Leslie Rue from Indiana University and Robert Fulmer from Trinity University conducted their own study to see if it makes a difference financially to do long range planning. They also wanted to determine if it was important to use more sophisticated techniques. They categorized the company s plans in to 4 different categories that ranged from no plan to very detailed planning. They then placed each into their own class of financial performance: sales growth, earning growth, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many religious leaders and other people similar to those have said that the government have taken God out of schools! but in reality they didn t they just have forbidden religious exercise that break the First and Fourteenth Amendment. The government has a neutral ground that they do not intend to be contrary towards religion or to aid in establishing worldly or secularism in the schools. The government did not prohibit the Bible reading as an independent or individual act by teachers or students. There is no illegal action for students to be disallowed to bring a Bible to school and read it silently during their spare time. Also a teacher should have the same freedom. Prayer and the reading of the Bible are both very personnel acts of worship. Reading the Bible can be taken in private and public places because it is a private act which is most significant to a person. The religious intention of the Bible reading is a form of communication between God and a person on earth. Our President, Donald J. Trump, exhibits his ability to be excellent in those categories and more throughout the entirety of his life. He has shown his ability to not only succeed, but exceed expectations at every position he has ever held. The true reason he is the best candidate however, is simply due to the opportunity for him to change the way big government has handled itself in the past, and especially during the Obama administration. Introduction In recent years, there has been an increase in same sex couples applying to adopt children at both infancy and from the foster care system. Although society s perception of a family normally consists of a mother and father, the times are changing. According to the United States 2000 Census, this societal perception of a normal family, referred to as the nuclear family , only represents less than 24%, of households in the U.S. The notion of the nuclear family is ever changing in today s society, and with this change must come a more open view of who can adopt children. By allowing same sex couples to adopt, children who would normally linger and age out of the foster care system can be put into permanent and loving homes. II. Parenting Capabilities of Same Sex Couples One of the main reasons that some individuals feel that same sex couples should be banned from adopting children is due to the belief that they are incapable. There are various amounts of scientific research compiled by the American Civil Liberties Union that shows that the parenting practices of same sex couples are just as good as those of heterosexual couples. The ACLU released a document entitled Too High a Price: The Case Against Restricting Gay Parenting. In this document there is a detailed overview of the scientific research done in this field. This research focuses on the psychological, emotional, social, and cognitive developments of children raised by same sex couples, the quality of parenting of these couples, and the sexual and gender development of the child or children in their home. In looking at these key factors, researchers were better able to make comparisons between same sex couples and heterosexual couples. These studies used various groups of people including single lesbian mothers, gay fathers, heterosexual couples, and heterosexual single parents. In order to conduct the studies, researchers used psychological tactics, which included both interviews and intensive examinations of both the parents and children. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
