Best Friend Essays
Writing an essay on the topic of "Best Friend Essays" can be both challenging and rewarding.
On one hand, the subject matter is personal and emotional, as it involves delving into the
intricacies of a deep and meaningful friendship. On the other hand, finding the right words to
express the essence of such a relationship and doing justice to the unique bond between friends
can be quite a task.
The difficulty arises from the need to strike a balance between conveying the personal
significance of the friendship and making the essay relatable to a broader audience. While the
writer may have a plethora of experiences and memories with their best friend, the challenge lies
in distilling those moments into a cohesive narrative that resonates universally.
Additionally, the emotional connection to the subject can make it challenging to maintain
objectivity in the writing. Striking the right tone that captures the warmth, humor, and depth of
the friendship without becoming overly sentimental or clichГ©d is a delicate balance.
Crafting an engaging and insightful essay on best friends also requires careful consideration of
the intended audience. Depending on the purpose of the essay—whether it's for a personal
reflection, academic assignment, or a broader readership—the approach and tone may vary,
adding another layer of complexity to the writing process.
In conclusion, writing a compelling essay on the topic of best friends involves navigating the
intricacies of personal connection, emotional expression, and universal relatability. It requires a
delicate touch to convey the depth of the friendship while keeping the narrative engaging and
relevant to a broader audience.

Stereotypes During Hurricane Katrina
One of the most heavily reported and most controversial events of Hurricane
Katrina was the amount of looting of stores in New Orleans. With the rising
amount of water, more and more people were driven out of their homes with little
more than the clothing on their backs left. Because of this, many people were
driven to stealing from unattended stores. They broke in, took anything from food
and clothing to tvs and electronics, clearly taking advantage of the lack of store
management. Although, police tried to step in and permanently stop looters, there
were too many people and too many stores to handle. While watching videos of
people looting local stores on YouTube, I noticed that nearly all of the looters were
people of color, mostly black,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They took what they needed, like diapers, clothes, fishing poles, and clothes, and
went about their day. When interviewed, several people admitted that it was a life
or death situation, and chose to steal in order to live. However, there was a small
group of people who were stealing luxury items like tvs, computers, and other
electronics. Usually, this group of people was proud of what they had managed to
steal, bragging about their success. Also in the videos, there were two black police
officers still in uniform walking around Wal Mart and filling their cart. They refused
to answer questions about their actions, but rather said that they were just patrolling
the scene. When they were directly asked about why they had items in their
shopping cart, they adamantly refused that they were looting. These two women did
not show shame or pride, but rather refused to acknowledge their actions. I believe
that if I were in that situation, I would try not to steal unless it became a life or
death situation for me, or anyone that depended on me. I would try to avoid looting
because I know that it would be intentionally harming the company that I was looting
for, and also the community, both the economy and the reputation. Nonetheless, I
believe that human lives are worth more than the stolen merchandise. If I or
someone who depended on me were on the brink of death, I would steal from local
stores to protect
Michael Crichton s Jurassic Park

Title of book: Jurassic Park Author: Michael Crichton
1.
The point of view in this novel was the third person point of view. I believe the
author chose this point of view so he could tell everybody s story and not have to
stick with one single storyline of one person s account of what was happening
because that would have made the book very confusing to follow with in my opinion.
2.
The protagonist in Jurassic Park is Dr. Alan Grant. He s the protagonist because he is
the guy I was rooting for when everything was happening and the guy who seems to
play the Hero type role during the story once things started to go south.
The books antagonist is Dennis Nedry because things were going ... Show more

Ellie Sattler: Dr. Alan Grant s partner.

I relate to Dr. Alan Grant the most in the story because he appears to be a very
grounded character, regardless of his position with his intellectual superiority or
even if he s being chased by dinosaurs, he seems to stay humble for the most part
and I feel like that s a value that I would like to have just like this character and is
why I can relate to him.
4.
The story of Jurassic Park begins when a handful of people get mauled by what
appears to be a dinosaur/raptor type creature, and it turns out that the creature that
did the maulings was a part of John Hammonds company and business investment,
International Genetic Technologies, which is Hammonds attempt at making a huge
profit by having a theme park designed around dinosaurs in their natural habitats.
However things go horribly wrong when a computer analyst Dennis Nedry makes a
deal with a rival genetic engineering company Biosyn to steal his own employers
dinosaur embryos. His master plan starts by shutting off the power to the park to
override the security systems but in the end he only ends up releasing the parks
attractions, the dinosaurs. So as you could probably guess pure mayhem ensues as
the characters attempt to escape the park, and the island it is on. Then the book ends
with the park, and island being blown up, but saying that there has been sightings of

Happiness Is A Feeling Or Feeling Of Accomplishment
What is happiness? A feeling or euphoria or a feeling of accomplishment, perhaps
both? Is happiness something we can create or something that appears to us when we
need it most? I feel that happiness is something that is unique to each person. What
fills me with inner joy might not for others and vice versa. Happinessis subjective, but
one thing I think everyone will find is that a part of their happiness is found in
growing as a person. Life begins at the end of your comfort zone and maybe
happiness is found there too! For me, happiness is best achieved when I am growing
as a person. Working through obstacles that have come up in my path, expanding my
horizons through meeting new people, or learning something new in a class. I have
come to see that when I push myself out of my comfort zone (physically or
emotionally), this is where I find happiness.
Reaching the edge of your comfort zone can be done through many things. One
example of when I have felt truly happy is during travels. This can be travels to
another state or travel in other countries. When one are traveling, there is constant
growth. There are different obstacles that result from each new adventure. Plans for
travel can be made, but in my experience, travel never goes according to the plan and
that is its beauty. One time, in Peru, I ended up having to ride an overnight bus, then
take a taxi to a hostel, then take another taxi to the airport. At the time I was eighteen,
with very flawed Spanish, and in a

Improving Emergency Department Throughput Time
Hospitals are experiencing patient congested emergency departments. At Baptist
Memorial Hospital, the increase in patient volume and limited capacity contributes to
long length of stays and patients leaving without being seen. As a result of
overcrowded emergency rooms, patient length of stay becomes more important.
Throughput times in the emergency department (ED) play a substantial role in
patient and staff satisfaction. Length of stay in the ED is directly related to patient
volume, patient acuity, lab turnaround times, and time to treatment, which is all
connected to patient satisfaction. Long wait time ... Show more content on

Efficiency or streamlined processes are necessary to see and treat the number of
patients presenting.
A specific problem that contributes to increased length of stay and delayed
diagnosis is the timely result of urinalysis. The root cause of delayed urinalysis
results is attributed to failure to collect, failure to transport, and failure to order. On
a regular basis, the physicians wait on urinalysis reports when all other ordered lab
has resulted. In exploring the possible causes of delayed results, it was discovered
that when a urinalysis was ordered, many times the patient could not void. Therefore,
the urine was not collected and soon forgotten by the nurse. Additionally, urines
collected were not transported to the lab. The patient was provided with the specimen
cup and collected the urine, but it was left sitting at the bedside even though the lab
technician might have been in the room. Last, a problem exists with collecting urines
but failing to order the test. Nurses implement protocols but fail to order the test in
the system.
In a simulation study, significant improvement in ED efficiency was shown with
decreasing lab turnaround time (Storrow, et al., 2008). As stated in the article, the
development of simulation models has been driven by nationwide increases in ED
patient census and acuity, as well as ED closures and hospital overcrowding (Storrow,
et al., 2008, p. 1131). This study highlighted
Juice Box Persuasive Essay
The Disgusting Reason Why You Should Not Buy Juice Boxes
Some people discovered a green slime in the straw of their juice box. The green
slime was also found on the edges of the juice box when the people cut open the
box. The juice box was not expired. The green slime can be found in many boxes of
juice especially in children juice boxes since these juices don t contain
preservatives. The slime is created by the fermentation of sugars when air leaks into
the box. The puncture will not cause leaking of the juice, since it is very small, but
the air can get inside of the juice easily. Although this slime is not dangerous, it is
disgusting. Moreover, these juices are not healthy because they contain a lot of sugar
and calories. As with food
Social Justice in Conseling
Social justice in counseling represents the process of reaching out to individuals
with regard to the fair treatment of all. There are many aspects to consider within
the interaction between counselor and client in order to provide the most fairest
treatment available. These aspects are derived from the dynamics of the goals and
process of the counseling session and constituted by policy and law development.
The goals and processes are focused upon embodying individual and family systems
and the policies and law development is developed through advocacy of making the
focus more just and equal to the communities and society at large. Counseling
professionals who are established in providing socialjustice in their framework focus
upon the principles of harmony, access, equity, and participation when developing
interventions and programmatic responses to the needs of their clients. The
interventions and programmatic responses are designed to be comprehensive and
preventive in nature. Harmony occurs when the needs of the individuals produce
results creating for better outcomes society as a whole, which establishes a societal
balance. Societal balance is maintained when the needs of individuals and minority
groups are taken into account and placed into action. Access to social justice occurs
when clients and those within the family system are provided with power,
knowledge, information, services, and resources critical to healthy development and
self determination.

Remedies for Breach of Contract In a claim for damages the first issue is
remoteness of damage; how far down the sequence of cause and effect should the
consequences of breach be traced before they become so indirect that they should
be ignored. Under the rule of Hadley v Baxendale (1854) damages may only be
awarded in respect of loss as follows: The loss must arise naturally accordingly to
the usual course of things, from the breach; or The loss must arise in a manner
which the parties, in making the contract may reasonably have contemplated s the
probable result of the breach of it. A loss outside the natural cause of events will
only be compensated if the exceptional circumstances, which the cause of loss are
within the defendants knowledge, when he made the contract. Secondly the court
must decide how much money (the measure of damages) to award in respect of
breach and its relevant consequences. Monetary damages for breach of contract are
intended to be compensatory, i.e. put the injured party in the position he reasonably
expected to be in when the contract was created. Liquidated damages may be
included in the contract but are not always upheld by the courts if it is excessive.
Unliquidated damages are those decided after the breach occurs, either by the parties
themselves or by the courts. When establishing the financial value of the plaintiff s
loss, the court is governed by a number of
Why Do Not Football Helmets Promote Neck Injuries Essay
The goal of this project is to work towards answering the question of whether or not
football helmets promote neck injuries. In order to gather data, a U of R team made
a machine that rapidly changes speed while translating from side to side to stimulate
a rotational acceleration and velocity about the head and neck due to an angular
displacement. The purpose of this machine is to simulate an unexpected and sudden
change in motion of the head in order to analyse the resulting motion. The data
collected was the rotational position of the head, the linear position of the cart, and
the linear position of a point on the body. All measurements were made with and
without a helmet. In order to answer the main question, there had to be a further
understanding of how the mechanics of the head and neck change with the addition
of a helmet. To achieve this, MATLAB was used to compute the resulting velocities
and accelerations, the reaction forces at the neck, and the moment about the base of
the neck. From these calculations, it is possible to make observations about how the
addition of a helmet affects the dynamics of the head and neck. The code is
structured with a script of general input data such as the given data and labels for
plots. All of the given position data was corrected to start at position zero for better
comparison between the positions with and without the helmet. The information was
then passed into a function that converted all data into the desired units, computed
Good Communication Within A Business Environment
Abstract
Communication is one of the most important skills that people utilize everyday.
Mainly people use this to exchange ideas and develop interpersonal relationships.
The specific reasons it is key to have good communication within a business
environment is that it will assist in the success of a business as well as developing
required professional relationships. Research has been conducted into six of the most
key communication aspects that effect businesses in the previous sentences. These six
are; communication channel, non verbal communication, correct wording, cultural
conflicts, personal perception and he quantity of communication. If these aspects are
not considered for a reasonable amount of time before the commencement of a day
they can have detrimental affects on the business, by business relationships being
damaged, or never formed, and without these relationships it will be harder for a
business to succeed.
Before we can discuss why communication is vital we must define it, it is defined as
The imparting or exchanging of information by speaking, writing, or using some
other medium. (Oxford, 2015) Communication is key based on this definition not
only in business but also just in life. It is also a difficult object to get right, and
needs to be planned thoroughly before continuing. (Dewatripont Triole 2005, p. 1217)
This supported by many other authors. The question has been posed, Does
communication always have a positive effect on a business?
Shake It Off Literary Devices
The critique unit in this ENG3U0 course can be related to this secondary source
Shake it off by Taylor Swift, I think mainly because in this song there are figurative
language used eg repetition, hyperbole and personification. All these devices in
this secondary source are easy to point out just like in class when given a piece of
writing it is easy to point out literary devices, also all the literary devices in this
source are the ones we talked about in class. The important aspects of this
secondary source would be that in this song the singer talks about her haters and
her dating life, and how she doesn t care what people say about her because she is
just going to shake it off . The lyrics of this song has many literary device which is
already familiar because we learned them in class, and that way it can be pointed out

The subject matter/topic of the source is she expressed her feelings towards the
haters, the past bad experience she had with people and told her audience listening
to this song that she is going to ignore it and forget it in a way just shake it off
which she repeats throughout the song. Direct quotations I shake it off, I shake it
off.. I shake it off, I shake it off this is repetition which is used in most of this song,
out of all the literary devices used in this song this was the one used more
repetition. This is an appropriate source for this specific unit because of the artist
that made this song she used many different literary devices to express the way she
is feeling and what is going in her

Minority Trope Representation in AMC’s The Walking
Dead Essay
The Walking Dead is a television show produced by AMC based off the black and
white comic books by Robert Kirkman. The show and comic book center around
main character Rick Grimes as he learns to cope with life after waking up from a
deadly wound into an outbreak of virus wielding undead creatures known as walkers.
Over the course of season two and season three, the show starts to center around how
Rick is able to command the group of survivors and the challenges they face trying to
settle down in a safe area. They are confronted with another community nearby late in
season three along with the increasing number of walkers in the area. While facing
these challenges, the number of surviving members continues to dwindle; however,

Usually, they are forgotten or killed off and labeled with the mental occupational
hazard trope. This trope proves that once a minority has served their purpose, they are
no longer needed to help the group survive any longer and the main character forgets
about the minority (tvtrope.org). These are the main ideas perpetuated in AMC s
thriller television show The Walking Dead. From the very beginning, the show
portrayed minorities as nothing more than the magical negro helping to further Rick
s survival in the zombie infested world. As more characters are introduced, the
majorities are of the white race with a few exceptions; Morgan, his son, and T Dog
are African American. They represent a racial inequality constitutive [...] order while
Michonne represents a progressive move toward equality within the group (Hugey, p
544).
Literature Review Matthew Hughey wrote Cinethetic Racism: White Redemption and
Black Stereotypes in Magical Negro Films in 2009 to dicuss the trend of progressive
African American representation called the magical negro. Hughey examined 26
films to understand race relations and how mainstream audiences interpret the films.
He found that the magical negro are placed in subservient positions and can reaffirm
the status quo by changing contemporary racism rather than showing evidence of
racial progress. This literature piece is used to help describe the relationship between
the majority and minority groups within the film, and
Southern Plains American Indian Culture
American Indian music has, throughout the history of the native people, been a major
part in the life of a tribe s cultural expression. The Southern Plains American Indians
have learned, from their ancestors/elders, the delicate rhythmic communication as
youth, and have carried the expression throughout their lives. The songs of the
Southern Plains American Indians represent their artistic language as a diminishing
minority group. Through song, American Indians communicate their beliefs and
values as a distinct society. American Indians use equipment such as drums, vocals,
and dance during the performance of their, often, monophonic language with a rare
heterophony texture. Their musicdescribes as well as represents their wants and needs

According to Rose, within the Native American music, No harmony is ever
incorporated, although sometimes many people sing at once, and other times the
vocals are solo. The Native American vocals are passionate, used to invoke spirits,

Indians worshipped the spirits of the animals, the sun, the moon and the stars and
everything else that they could not explain. The songs they sang and danced to were
meant to honor these spirits as stated but many of their traditional celebrations would
also have re enactments of these stories, where members of the tribe would dress up
and perform ceremonial dances to the gods while they would re enact tribal myths.

we find that appropriate explanation is lost to those who have become

The Economic Problems Of The Reconstruction Era
Equality and freedom between blacks and whites were very different, causing
problems to breakout. The Reconstruction Era went on from 1863 to 1877. It was
taken place in the South, it was the greatest problem that still remained after the Civil
War and had to be solved. In general, the changes made after the Civil War did not
help African Americans move closer to achieving the American Dream due to the
economic, political and social problems that they faced due to the reconstruction. The
problems that southerners produced around the Reconstruction Acts stopped blacks
from having any say economically in the Reconstruction Era, distancing them away
from the economic freedom they had always wanted and achieving the American
Dream. One of the biggest economic problems they faced was sharecropping. A
sharecropper was a tenant farmer especially in the southern US who is provided
with credit for land, tools, living quarters, and food, who works on the land, and
who receives an agreed share of the value of the crop minus charges(Sharecropping
Worksheet). The landowners soil was not guaranteed to be good as well, and if it
was bad then it made it harder for the farmers to grow crops. Dealing with all of this
made it very hard for farmers to actually make enough money to pay the landowner
back and have enough money to do tenant farming. Which made it nearly impossible
to get out of sharecropping and achieve the American Dream. The Black Codes also
impacted African Americans

Alex Ferguson A role model is a person who serves as a positive example and
whose behaviour and success is emulated by others. The way the coach conducts
themselves in the presence of their athletes is important to get the respect of their

Linford Christie One of the roles that Linford Christie would have to fulfil is being a
manager. For him this would include being well organised for example having the
training sessions planned before the session and most importantly the one to one man
management of each of his athlete s. This is obviously very important for Christie to
have as he coaches individual athletes and he has to manage them in the right way to
get the best out of them. For example, some of his athletes might respond better
to him having a go at them after a poor performance and some might respond better
to a friendly arm around the shoulder. It is vital that he is able to recognise which

Alex Ferguson and Linford Christie are similar in that they both have to have good

between these two coaches when it comes to managing is that Ferguson has to
make a lot more decisions because he has to make a whole team work together
successfully so he has the added responsibilities of picking the squad, when to drop
players and who needs to be rested whereas
Symbolism In Katherine Mansfield s The Garden Party
The Garden Party by Katherine Mansfield is a short story about a wealthy family
having, as the title would suggest, a garden party. More specifically the story
follows the inner turmoil of the youngest daughter, Laura. She has no choice but to
see her family s true colors when a poorer neighbor passes away. Laura s familysees
her as childish because of her kind nature but she receives a rude awakening that
causes her to mature greatly at the end of the story.
It appears that Laura has led a very sheltered life, which is the reason she acts so
childish. When presented with the opportunity to eat out of doors that the garden
party provides, she becomes excited and feels somewhat rebellious, which implies
she follows a strict set of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She believes entirely that her mother will agree with her. She feels shocked and asks;
Mother, isn t it terribly heartless of us? which shows how disappointed in herself she
would be were she to continue with the garden party. Laura s doubts disappear when
her mother presents her with a beautiful hat and tells her she is being extravagant in
trying to prevent the party from happening. Any time the death comes again to her
attention, she immediately returns to her guilt over the situation. Repeatedly her
beautiful hat and lace frock receive attention, as in Laura s conversation with her
brother that reads: My word, Laura! You do look stunning, said Laurie. What an
absolutely topping hat! This repetition may symbolize materialism and the superficial
differences between the rich and the poor. When not influenced by others to prioritize
appearances, Laura seems to understand that none of the rules that dictate who is
influential in society matters. The same kindness that makes Laura s family see her
as naive is the precise trait that makes her the most mature of them.
At the end of the story, Laura seems to have some kind of great revelation upon
seeing the dead man. She marvels at how peaceful he looks and is again ashamed of
her own trivial problems such as the placement of the marquee in front of the trees
she found the most beautiful, thinking What did garden parties and baskets and
The Second World War (WWII)
The Second World War (WWII) , was a war fought majoritively in Europe and Asia
between 1939 to 1945. The Second World War was started from many issues that
were left unresolved from the First World War, as well as the lasting effects of the
Great Depression in the 1930 s. Generally there are two conflicts which are thought
to have started the Second World War; the invasion of China by the Japanese Empire
in 1937, and the invasion of Poland by Soviet Russia and Germany in 1939. This war
resulted in more deaths than other with around 500 million lives being lost. Around a
million Australians , both men and women, served in the Second World War, they
fought in multiple campaigns in Europe, the Mediterranean, North Africa, South East
Asia and the Pacific. For the first time, the mainland of Australia was under attack,
Japanese aircraft bombed North West Australia, and Sydney Harbour was attacked by
Japanese submarines*. As opposed as the First World War, few Australian troops

The White Umbrella By Gish Jen Summary
In The White Umbrella , author Gish Jen illustrates the life of a Chinese family
living in America, where they don t fit in. The narrator, a girl who is embarrassed by
the fact that her mom works, tries hard to keep it a secret and doesn t realize how
much she needs her until she might be dead. This short story teaches the lesson that
you should appreciate the things that already make you happy and not get distracted
by what you think will make you happy. Throughout the story, the author shows this
theme by the character s actions, repeating important symbolism, and in the turning
point of the story. One way the author conveys the theme is through the main
character s actions. She strives to be like an American girl and is stubbornly blind
A Case Of Assisted Suicide By Jack Kevorkian
People have different ideas of a good essay. Essays that are interesting to the
readers. For an essay to be considered a good essay, it has to be entertaining, the
readers should be able to picture an image in their mind. For many others, they
may have different ideas about what a good writer is. For example, I don t like it
when writers give out too much information. They will describe things and go on
and on about it. Others might like this, but I don t like it when the writers do this.
Most writers have one of the qualities that I think makes a good writer. They don t

in their essays.
Another quality a writer should have in his or her paper is giving examples or things
that the readers would find useful and use it themselves. In William Zinsser s The Act
of Writing: One Man s Method he gives a lot of information on writing a paper and
how to improve my writing skills. He talks about editing, cutting and revising (166).
The one that I use the most, after learning from him, is the bracket method. He says
that, The brackets might surround the little qualifiers... sentence that... repeats what

better. It really helps me to see what I had already said in the other sentence, so I can
change the sentence or delete it. Another writer that gives out good information is
Lewis Thomas. In Notes on Punctuation , Thomas talks about all kinds of

Garden Of The Forking Paths Analysis
In the story The Garden Of Forking Paths by Jorges Luis Borges takes the basic
aspects of the spy thriller, plays with them to create a spy thriller that doesn t
follow the rules of the genre exactly. One example of this is in most spy thrillers,
the protagonist is portrayed as nearly superhuman, and invulnerable, while in
Garden Of The Forking Paths the main character is arrested and killed at the end of
the story. Another aspect of the spy thriller that Borges distorts is the motivation for
the spy to continue his duties. Instead of doing it out of love for his country, he does
it out of spite and wanting to prove himself. The third way Borges twists the standard
spy thriller is instead of working to prevent an enemy, Dr, Yu Tsun is

In standard spy thrillers the main character will complete the task out of love for
there country and protection of its citizens. In The Garden Of Forking Paths Dr.
Tsun holds no love for Germany, as he is not even a native German and is looked
down upon by many of the Germans he works will. Because of this his drive to
complete his mission is based out of spite for his commanding general and a need
to prove himself. I care nothing for a barbarous country which imposed upon me
the abjection of being a spy. Besides, I know of a man from England a modest man
who for me is no less great than Goethe. I talked with him for scarcely an hour, but
during that hour he was Goethe... I did it because I felt the Chief somehow feared
people of my race for the innumerable ancestors who merge within me. I wanted to
prove to him that a yellow man could save his armies. (1) While compared to the
normal spy, who has pride in the side he is fighting for, Dr. Tsun hates the people
he is fighting for, but also has a need to prove to them he is worthy. This also casts
mystery over the character, because he never explains why he is working for the
Germans, only that he was forced into the position by something out of his control,
further distancing him from the normal spy character and showing his weakness. The

The Natural Family Planning ( Safe Period )
3 Natural family planning ( safe period):
Natural family planning is one of the most widely utilized means of birth control,
espicially for those whom their religion or their cultural beliefs do not authorize
devices or drugs for birth control. This method includes periodic abstinence, to avoid
intercourse during a female s fertile period, which is around the time of ovulation.
Determination of the fertile period involve the calendar method, cervical mucus
method, or the symptothermal method technique.
The calendar method is based on 3 hypotheses as follows: The human ovum can be
fertilized only for approximately 24 hours after ovulation, spermatozoa can maintain
their ability of fertilizing for only 48 hours after coitus, and ovulation usually occurs
12 16 days before the onset of the subsequent menestruation. The menses is recorded
for 6 cycles to estimate the fertile period. The earliest day of the fertile period is
calculated by the number of days in the shortest menstrual cycle subtracted by 18.
The latest day of the fertile period is assessed by the number of days in the longest
cycle subtracted by 11.

Former Members Perception of Cult Movement, is a study researched and done by
Dr. Carmen Almendros, Dr. Jose A. Carrobles and Dr. Alvaro Rodriguez Carballeira.
The research paper was published online under the ICSA ( International Cultic

the Cultic Studies Review. As the title of the study states, the research was used to
find the perception of former cultic members before and during their involvement in

Unfortunately, the hypothesis wasn t clearly mentioned in the research paper.
However, it could be easily predicted that the hypothesis is surrounding the topic that
most people who join cults believe that the cults are morally good and healthy for

The Big Stick s Achievements
Matthew Del Rosso Honors US History (2) 08 March 2016 The Big Stick s
Achievements During presidency, the president is known to carry many duties
under their belt. Some go wrong, while the majority has turn into major historical
accomplishments. Some of the accomplishments have affected the country for
many years and on. As many presidents have achieved their duties beyond
expectation, Teddy Roosevelt was one of the outstanding presidents who have done
so. Teddy has a long list of his accomplishments, but there are five that have sent
him above all. Teddy Roosevelt was always fascinated with nature. His first
important achievement was the beginning of the National Park System. He was
very set upon keeping the Earth clean. Roosevelt saw how Americans were
inadvertently killing the Earth with pollution, so he got together with
preservationists and solved the problem. The first feeble step toward conservation
had been taken with the Desert Land Act of 1877, under which the federal
government sold arid land cheaply on the condition that the purchaser irrigate the
thirsty soil within three years. This was important in the overall project because it
got the ball rolling and opened many Americans eyes to the growing issue of
pollution. However, More successful was the Forest Reserve Act of 1891,
authorizing the president to set aside public forests as national parks and other
reserves. Under this statute some 46 million acres of magnificent trees were rescued
Hang Clean Research Paper
A hang clean is a movement that may not appear to be complicated, but once you
start using this Olympic style lift in your training you will begin to notice it truly
is a lift that works out most of the body. The overview of this movement can be best
explained by incorporating vectors into the lift. In a static position, an athlete will
have their head looking straight ahead, having a vector move away from the head.
The grip of the hands on the barbell will be firm and secure as the athlete prepares
to start the motion of the lift. This is indicated by two small vectors, one above the
hang and one below the hand, which represents the grip of the hands. The same two
small vector s are on each foot as well because the athlete is on a hard surface....

The p, or toppling force does have a significant change throughout the lift. The p
force is the force to move a body in an unstable state. To calculate my p for my
static and dynamic 1 phases, I first had to find my weight in kilograms and my
height in centimeters. I am 165 pounds which is 75 kilograms if you divide 165 by
2.2. This is the proper way to convert weight from pounds to kilograms. Next, I
calculated my height. I am 6 feet tall which means I am 182.88 centimeters in
height. You can calculate your height by multiplying your height in feet and inches
by 12 because there are 12 inches in a foot and then multiply that number by 2.54.
The last part of my calculation that I needed to solve for p was my b, or toppling
base. I measured this by simply going straight down from my center of gravity and
the measuring outward to the foot. In this case my b was 13 centimeters. I
multiplied my weight in kilograms and toppling base to complete one part of the
equation and then divided that answer by my height in centimeters to solve for p.
My p for my static and dynamic 1 phases was 5.33 cm/kg. My p for my dynamic 2
phase was slightly different. My b was 18.6 centimeters instead of 13 from my
previous phases. After going through the same steps as above but using my new b
value, my p for my dynamic 2 phase was 7.63 cm/kg. The final parts of stability

Pro Curfew
Many cities have curfews for it s minors; however, many parents have his or her
own curfew for one s own child. I oppose against any city appointed curfew as a
curfew is not a city s duty to control what time a minor must be home. A curfew
should be appointed by a minor s parent or guardian, a city curfewis far too
interfering in one s personal life, and many teenagers have jobs in which they do
not leave work until ten. A curfew should be made by a minor s parent or guardian.
To elaborate my point, a teenager is under the care of his or her parent; therefore,
each parent may have a different opinion on when his or her child should be home.
Each person has different rules at his or her house in which he or she must stay true
to. Furthermore,
North American Culture Essay
Early North American cultures often used their art to express their spiritual rituals
and beliefs. North American Eastern Woodlanders were an established, settled
community. Their burial rituals led them to build great burial mounds such as the
Serpent Mound in Ohio. The Eastern Woodlanders believed that tobacco was sacred,
and that smoking it was a form of prayer. It is interesting that, although the tobacco
originated in the South and was brought North, the stone pipe originated in the North.
These woodlanders were famous for their intricate beadwork and quillwork, which
was regularly used to portray symbolic, spiritual scenes. Unlike the Eastern
Woodlanders, the Indians living on the plains led a nomadic lifestyle. Their lives

Some masks were used to represent mythical Cannibal Birds that were believed to
kidnap young noble men and turn them into cannibals. Each of these cultures,
though separated geographically, shared similar beliefs which drove them to
establish a way of life largely known for its rituals, traditions, and art. In analyzing
the art of these peoples, one might search for ways to dive deeper into the art of the
culture to understand this way of life. As Amy Tan stated, I think that it s
important for me to take on the beliefs, because that is where the story is real, and
that is where I m gonna find the answers to how I feel about certain questions that I
have in life. I think that each of these cultures, and every culture, has searched for
an answer to the question of why they exist and what their purpose is. Early North
American cultures settled for devoting themselves to their spiritual rituals which
required them to perform certain acts and create some of the works of art. Paul

Police Discretionary Powers
Discretion is used in many different ways in the criminal justice system. It is used to
balance the rights of victims, offenders and society. Discretion allows law enforcers,
attorneys, judges, correction officers and probation officers the opportunity to make
some decisions based on their own opinion whilst still acting within the law. There
are many areas in the law that use discretion, for example policediscretion in the
investigation process, the judges discretion when sentencing and the decisions on
whether or not to set bail. Discretion is very useful in ensuring that everyone s rights
are balanced but it can sometimes cause some issues which mean the rights are left
unbalanced.
One of the groups of people within the legal system that have discretionary powers
are the police force. The discretionary powers that they have can be found in the Law
Enforcement (powers and responsibilities) act 2002 (NSW) also known as (LEPRA).
They can use their discretion in various areas one of which is during the investigation
process. They have the discretion to decide whether or not to proceed with
investigations. The only situation that they have to investigate is anything relating to
domestic violence. In these situations, police can t use their discretionary ... Show

The Constitutionality Of Providing Tax Exemption Essay
The constitutionality of providing tax exemptions to religious organizations was
upheld in the U.S. Supreme Court case Walz v. Tax Comm n of the City of New
York. Frederick Walz, a New York real estate owner, brought the suit against the New
York City Tax Commission on the grounds that the property taxexemption for
churches forced taxpayers to indirectly contribute to those churches, thus violating the
Establishment clause. The Supreme Court upheld the property tax exemptionfor
churches, ruling that it did not violate the Establishment clause. In the majority
opinion, Chief Justice Warren Burger emphasized that the First Amendment will not
tolerate either governmentally established religion or governmental interference with
religion ( Walz v. Tax, n.d.). This interpretation of the First Amendment was echoed
one year later with the creation of the Lemon test ( Lemon v. Kurtzman, n.d.). He
used this framework to judge whether the tax exemption violated the First
Amendment. Burger maintained that The legislative purpose of the property tax
exemption is neither the advancement nor the inhibition of religion... [and we] cannot
read New York s statute as attempting to establish religion; it is simply sparing the
exercise of religion from the burden of property taxationlevied on private profit
institutions ( Walz v. Tax, n.d.). Burger further adds that exempting churches from
taxes creates far less government entanglement with religion than taxing churches

Analysis Of The Book Hear The Wind Blow
Imagine becoming an orphan at the age of thirteen, having to take care of your
seven year old sister with an older brother fighting in the war. Haswell Magruder
experiences these hardships, along with starvation, arrest, and figuring out how he
will make due without a parental figure around. The novel Hear the Wind Blow, is an
interesting story that vividly describes every event to the reader, accurately informs
them of the troubles many people endured during the Civil War, and constantly keeps
them on the edge of their seats. The author, Mary Downing Hahnprovides a peek into
the world not only through words but through an actual map of Virginia, where the
events take place. While the map was very helpful, the words in the book still
express dramatic feelings, actions, and words of the characters in this fast paced
compelling read. Especially in the gory parts of the story were these emotions and
descriptions truly vivid in my mind. For example, after the Union armystormed into
the Magruder s house, Haswell s mother was taken upstairs by Captain Powell.
When Haswell and his sister, Rachel heard a gunshot and saw their mother stroll
out of the room covered in blood, they knew she killed him. Haswell eventually had
to go upstairs to investigate the scene and hide the body from the Captain s men.
While he did this, he described that the Captain s blood soaked the sheets and quilts
and pillows with crimson. His one remaining eye glared at me in fury. (Hahn 44)

Baroness Emmuska Orczy s The Scarlet Pimpernel
Charles I of England was sentenced to death by guillotine in 1649 due to his
crimes. Similarly to the once loved king, many aristocrats during the French
Revolution faced this same dreadful fate. Throughout The Scarlet Pimpernel this is
shown numerous times. In 1792 during this Revolution, France was taken over.
Many Aristocrats attempted to escape their executions but were hopelessly

Another major theme of the novel is nobility versus the masses. During the French

is largely due to the genius creative mind of Alan Menken. Menken is best known for
composing the scores for some of the most beloved Disney classics, including
Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Hercules, Pocahontas, and
Tangled. He also made his mark composing for highly acclaimed Broadway musicals,
including Little Shop of Horrorsand Newsies, as well as the stage adaptations of
some of his Disney hits. The familiar songs composed by Menken are permanently
ingrained in our minds and are largely responsible for the success of the films and
theatrical works he was associated with. Alan Menkenwas born on July 22nd, 1949
in New York City. He grew up in New Rochelle, New York with his sisters, Faye
and Leah. Menken s family was heavily involved in the performing arts, setting the
stage for his career at a young age. His mother, Judy Menken, was an aspiring
actress and playwright; his father, Norman Menken was a dentist but played boogie
woogie and show tunes on the piano as a hobby. Alan Menken aspired to be a
composer from a young age, but the men in his family typically became dentists and
he felt that he was expected to continue this tradition. However, he did learn to play
the piano, violin, and guitar as he
The Kentucky House Of Representative Candidates Forum
For...
The second group I attended was the Kentucky House of Representative
Candidates Forum for house districts: 7, 11, 12, 13, and 14. This group was
attended by me via online and took place on campus at Brescia University in
Owensboro Kentucky. The Candidates Forum was held on Monday October 17
from 7:00pm 8:30pm CDT. The scene was that of an auditorium with six candidates
seated at a table in the front and to what appeared to be the group moderator at a
podium to the right of the room. The camera did not focus in on much of the audience
for me to give an accurate description, but there were several members there to
observe and many had questions for the Candidates.
The Kentucky House of Representatives Candidate Forum was an open ended
group. In other words, it was open to the public primarily because it had a political
agenda for gaining voters for the Candidates that shared their views. The
Candidates Forum can be identified by several of the groups mentioned in our
text, but the two groups that I feel best fit the description are: Educational group
and a Focus Group. First, I identified it with an educational because the Candidates
objective is to educate the viewers on their political stance in the race as well as
educate the viewers about important issues that need to be addressed. Lastly, I
identified it with a focus group because a focus group is closely related to task
groups and problem solving and decision making groups in that they identify needs or
issues,
The Neighbourhood Principle
Has The Neighbourhood Principle failed?
My neighbour asked me if he could use my lawnmower and I told him of course he
could, so long as he didn t take it out of my garden. 1 This is the concept which
most people tend to associate the word neighbour with. However, in the court
room, the word makes a decisive shift away from this traditional meaning and
endeavours to establish to whom a common law duty of care is owed. The law has
expanded considerably by the onset of the concept of foreseeable plaintiffs which is
almost 80 years in existence in the UK. It is evasive in determining whether
proximity should now be regarded as a discrete analytical concept around which
arguments may be constructed, or merely as a slippery expression ... Show more

in particular i.e. if it was not imposed for the benefit of a particular individual but
was imposed for the benefit of the community as a whole or for the benefit of some
section of the community. 14 In an ever conscious society, there was much need for
the modernisation of the law with regard to the wider duties and especially the
neighbourhood principle. The Anns v. Merton15 case brought about the two stage

Argumentative Essay On Extraterrestrial Life
Aliens: Existence of the Inevitable
Researching the probability of alien existence in the 21st century
Throughout the 21st Century, the existence of extraterrestrial life has become a
widely explored topic in science fiction movies, books, and magazines. In more
recent years however, NASA has developed a division of space exploration that is
especially dedicated to discovering and protecting Earth from any extraterrestrial life
that may have negative effects on our planets inhabitants. This division of the
NASA organization raises questions for the average civilian: does alien life exist,
and if so, when and how will we discover it? The human race must begin to consider
and accept the existence of extraterrestrial life due to the fact that: ... Show more

Because new technology is being created every day, Douglas Vakoch (director of
Interstellar Message Composition at the SETI) seems to think that the confirmation
of extraterrestrial life is not far away: [T]he chances are getting better with every
passing year , Vakoch said in an interview with Space.com. He added that within the
next decade, we may well discover we re not alone in the universe. And while the life
that NASA discover may not be the equivalent of the aliens seen in Star Wars, it
will be bacterial and microbial life nonetheless. This may be true, but there are still
people who doubt the existence of interstellar life despite technological
advancements. The Fermi Paradox, named after physicist Enrico Fermi, exists
solely disprove the reality of aliens. The basic gist of this theory proposes that
because there are so many possible Earth like planets, it is probable that aliens are
developing or have developed a method of interstellar travel, (as NASA is
attempting now). Even with the size of the Milky Way, Fermi says that it could be
easily traversed in a few million
Department Of Youth Rehabilitation Services
The Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services is what we decided to do our
project on. It appeals to us because we can easily see ourselves working with this
organization at various points in our careers. To begin with we wanted to give a
description of the history of the organization as well as its purpose as an overview to
understand its uses.
The Department of YouthRehabilitation Services has a relatively short history but it
is a very impactful one. The department is headed by Clinton Lacey. The
Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services was founded in 2004 in the District of
Columbia and was made to be a cabinet level agency for the districts juvenile justice
system. This means that it is a board that reports to a president. Before ... Show more

After Schiraldi led the Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services through its first
several years he helped lower the runaway status of supervised youth from 26 percent
down to seven percent. Through his tenure the homicide rate among supervised youth
also fell quite considerably. One of the most remarkable changes was the fact that the
recidivism rate for youth under the Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services care
decreased by 47 percent.
Today DYRS has a fully comprehensive and functional website. It has easy access to
links that include Community based treatment, DC YouthLink Services, New
Beginings Youth Development Center, Youth Services Center, DYRS Case
Management, as well as a variety of other resources that can be helpful to any youth
in need.
One of the largest contribution that the Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services
today is Family Empowerment and its Grant Program Incentives to help the
familys of at risk or troubled youth work to combat possibilities of negative
behavior. They also work to bring families in as a primary support system of a child
who has already made mistakes so that they can turn their lives
Spina Bifida Research Paper
Congenital abnormalities occur during a fetus s development before birth. In the
United States, about three to four percent of babies are born with some sort of
congenital abnormality. Spina bifida is the most common congenital abnormality,
occurring in about one in every one thousand births. Spina bifida happens when the
spinal bones do not close properly during formation. Spina bifidacan be seen in a
newborn by a small sac located on the spine. Surgery must be done within the first
few days of the infant s life in order to remove the sac. The sac contains spinal fluid
and damaged nerves, but little can be done to repair the damaged nerves.
Later in life, there are many other issues that Spina Bifida causes. The most common
of these is hydrocephalus.
Reasons for Vladimir I s Conversion to Christianity and...
What Motivated Vladimir I to convert to Christianity and how did the new religion
change the culture of Eastern Slavs?
Paganism was a mental mindset of the Eastern Slavs living in a world where a
majority of the European countries surrounding them had already converted to a
monastic religion. Vladimir I, a great prince of Kiev, reigned from 980 till 1015 and
succeeded in the mass conversion of the Eastern Slavs.1 Throughout his reign
Vladimir s agenda had always been to strengthen his empire, in order to be
considered valuable among the dominate nations of the European family.2 The
traditional view of Vladimir s motivation for the conversion is that only after
considering all monastic faiths, did he finally reach the decision of Eastern ... Show

onfirming that Vladimir sent envoys to make personal enquires about their religious
practices.15 Converting to a monastic religion was Kievan Rus chance to be adopted
into the powerful European family, gain new allies and better trading opportunities.16
With the history of Eastern Orthodox Christianity in Russia, it was probably the most
logical choice for Vladimir.17 Throughout Vladimir s reign he campaigned against
many surrounding tribes.18 His campaigns were carefully structured and executed
accordingly.19 This is illustrated with the Varagians in Kiev itself, and then towards
Slavonic and Lithuanian tribes in the north, who he overcame without any
difficulty.20 These political elements of Vladimir correlate with his capture of
Chersoneus, belonging to Byzantium, the most powerful and wealthy empire at the
time.21 With this bold move he was able to negotiate with Emperor Basil II,
exchanging Basil s sister Anna for his cooperation and assistance.22 This illustrates
that Vladimir realized if he constructed a scheme, rather than simply just being
baptized in Constantinople, he could convert and gain a Byzantium Bride for
Kievan Rus at the same time.23 It also shows how Vladimir understood than
Byzantium would never allow such a highly prized object to be married to a pagan,
and converting after receiving his bride would not be sufficient.24 Vladimir first
gave proof of his good faith by being baptized, however Basil became reluctant to fill
his side of the bargain, and
The Impact of a Pandemic
The world has experienced a total of four pandemics within the twentieth century.
These pandemics, as horrific and deadly as they are, have brought so much more
positive advances to our health care system and how we prepare for biological
threats. Although we are in the twenty first century and we have advanced so far in
healthcare, there is still the possibility of a deadly pandemic. Many people may
confuse Pandemic with Epidemic which can often times lead to being over
prepared or under prepared. An epidemic as an infectious disease that quickly
travels within a city, state, or country from person to person. An example of an
epidemic would be SARS, which spread through many countries and killed roughly
800 people. On the other hand, Pandemics differ because the infectious disease is
spread globally. A pandemic has a much higher infectious rate and an even larger
death rate compared to an epidemic. The world has experienced a total of four
pandemics in the twentieth century starting in 1918 until present. In 1918, the
spanish flu caught worldwide attention when it infected close to half the population
of the world, claiming more than 40 million lives. What made the spanish flu
capable of infecting over a billion people was the ability to quickly transfer from
person to person. At the time, world war 1 was happening and the mass activation
and recruitment of troops to fight made the spread of the flu easy. The Asian flu of
1957 was second deadly pandemic to hit the

  • 1. Best Friend Essays Writing an essay on the topic of "Best Friend Essays" can be both challenging and rewarding. On one hand, the subject matter is personal and emotional, as it involves delving into the intricacies of a deep and meaningful friendship. On the other hand, finding the right words to express the essence of such a relationship and doing justice to the unique bond between friends can be quite a task. The difficulty arises from the need to strike a balance between conveying the personal significance of the friendship and making the essay relatable to a broader audience. While the writer may have a plethora of experiences and memories with their best friend, the challenge lies in distilling those moments into a cohesive narrative that resonates universally. Additionally, the emotional connection to the subject can make it challenging to maintain objectivity in the writing. Striking the right tone that captures the warmth, humor, and depth of the friendship without becoming overly sentimental or clichГ©d is a delicate balance. Crafting an engaging and insightful essay on best friends also requires careful consideration of the intended audience. Depending on the purpose of the essay—whether it's for a personal reflection, academic assignment, or a broader readership—the approach and tone may vary, adding another layer of complexity to the writing process. • 2. Stereotypes During Hurricane Katrina One of the most heavily reported and most controversial events of Hurricane Katrina was the amount of looting of stores in New Orleans. With the rising amount of water, more and more people were driven out of their homes with little more than the clothing on their backs left. Because of this, many people were driven to stealing from unattended stores. They broke in, took anything from food and clothing to tvs and electronics, clearly taking advantage of the lack of store management. Although, police tried to step in and permanently stop looters, there were too many people and too many stores to handle. While watching videos of people looting local stores on YouTube, I noticed that nearly all of the looters were people of color, mostly black,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They took what they needed, like diapers, clothes, fishing poles, and clothes, and went about their day. When interviewed, several people admitted that it was a life or death situation, and chose to steal in order to live. However, there was a small group of people who were stealing luxury items like tvs, computers, and other electronics. Usually, this group of people was proud of what they had managed to steal, bragging about their success. Also in the videos, there were two black police officers still in uniform walking around Wal Mart and filling their cart. They refused to answer questions about their actions, but rather said that they were just patrolling the scene. When they were directly asked about why they had items in their shopping cart, they adamantly refused that they were looting. These two women did not show shame or pride, but rather refused to acknowledge their actions. I believe that if I were in that situation, I would try not to steal unless it became a life or death situation for me, or anyone that depended on me. I would try to avoid looting because I know that it would be intentionally harming the company that I was looting for, and also the community, both the economy and the reputation. Nonetheless, I believe that human lives are worth more than the stolen merchandise. If I or someone who depended on me were on the brink of death, I would steal from local stores to protect
  • 3. Michael Crichton s Jurassic Park Matthew Dean Title of book: Jurassic Park Author: Michael Crichton 1. The point of view in this novel was the third person point of view. I believe the author chose this point of view so he could tell everybody s story and not have to stick with one single storyline of one person s account of what was happening because that would have made the book very confusing to follow with in my opinion. 2. The protagonist in Jurassic Park is Dr. Alan Grant. He s the protagonist because he is the guy I was rooting for when everything was happening and the guy who seems to play the Hero type role during the story once things started to go south. The books antagonist is Dennis Nedry because things were going ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ellie Sattler: Dr. Alan Grant s partner. 3. I relate to Dr. Alan Grant the most in the story because he appears to be a very grounded character, regardless of his position with his intellectual superiority or even if he s being chased by dinosaurs, he seems to stay humble for the most part and I feel like that s a value that I would like to have just like this character and is why I can relate to him. 4. The story of Jurassic Park begins when a handful of people get mauled by what appears to be a dinosaur/raptor type creature, and it turns out that the creature that did the maulings was a part of John Hammonds company and business investment, International Genetic Technologies, which is Hammonds attempt at making a huge profit by having a theme park designed around dinosaurs in their natural habitats. However things go horribly wrong when a computer analyst Dennis Nedry makes a deal with a rival genetic engineering company Biosyn to steal his own employers dinosaur embryos. His master plan starts by shutting off the power to the park to override the security systems but in the end he only ends up releasing the parks attractions, the dinosaurs. So as you could probably guess pure mayhem ensues as the characters attempt to escape the park, and the island it is on. Then the book ends with the park, and island being blown up, but saying that there has been sightings of reptilian bird like creatures running through the woods in packs deep in the jungles of

  • 6. Happiness Is A Feeling Or Feeling Of Accomplishment What is happiness? A feeling or euphoria or a feeling of accomplishment, perhaps both? Is happiness something we can create or something that appears to us when we need it most? I feel that happiness is something that is unique to each person. What fills me with inner joy might not for others and vice versa. Happinessis subjective, but one thing I think everyone will find is that a part of their happiness is found in growing as a person. Life begins at the end of your comfort zone and maybe happiness is found there too! For me, happiness is best achieved when I am growing as a person. Working through obstacles that have come up in my path, expanding my horizons through meeting new people, or learning something new in a class. I have come to see that when I push myself out of my comfort zone (physically or emotionally), this is where I find happiness. Reaching the edge of your comfort zone can be done through many things. One example of when I have felt truly happy is during travels. This can be travels to another state or travel in other countries. When one are traveling, there is constant growth. There are different obstacles that result from each new adventure. Plans for travel can be made, but in my experience, travel never goes according to the plan and that is its beauty. One time, in Peru, I ended up having to ride an overnight bus, then take a taxi to a hostel, then take another taxi to the airport. At the time I was eighteen, with very flawed Spanish, and in a
  • 7. Ed Throughput Improving Emergency Department Throughput Time HCS/587 October 1, 2012 Improving Emergency Department Throughput Time Hospitals are experiencing patient congested emergency departments. At Baptist Memorial Hospital, the increase in patient volume and limited capacity contributes to long length of stays and patients leaving without being seen. As a result of overcrowded emergency rooms, patient length of stay becomes more important. Throughput times in the emergency department (ED) play a substantial role in patient and staff satisfaction. Length of stay in the ED is directly related to patient volume, patient acuity, lab turnaround times, and time to treatment, which is all connected to patient satisfaction. Long wait time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Efficiency or streamlined processes are necessary to see and treat the number of patients presenting. A specific problem that contributes to increased length of stay and delayed diagnosis is the timely result of urinalysis. The root cause of delayed urinalysis results is attributed to failure to collect, failure to transport, and failure to order. On a regular basis, the physicians wait on urinalysis reports when all other ordered lab has resulted. In exploring the possible causes of delayed results, it was discovered that when a urinalysis was ordered, many times the patient could not void. Therefore, the urine was not collected and soon forgotten by the nurse. Additionally, urines collected were not transported to the lab. The patient was provided with the specimen cup and collected the urine, but it was left sitting at the bedside even though the lab technician might have been in the room. Last, a problem exists with collecting urines but failing to order the test. Nurses implement protocols but fail to order the test in the system. In a simulation study, significant improvement in ED efficiency was shown with decreasing lab turnaround time (Storrow, et al., 2008). As stated in the article, the development of simulation models has been driven by nationwide increases in ED patient census and acuity, as well as ED closures and hospital overcrowding (Storrow, et al., 2008, p. 1131). This study highlighted

The green slime was also found on the edges of the juice box when the people cut open the box. The juice box was not expired. The green slime can be found in many boxes of juice especially in children juice boxes since these juices don t contain preservatives. The slime is created by the fermentation of sugars when air leaks into the box. The puncture will not cause leaking of the juice, since it is very small, but the air can get inside of the juice easily. Although this slime is not dangerous, it is disgusting. Moreover, these juices are not healthy because they contain a lot of sugar and calories. As with food
  • 9. Social Justice in Conseling Social justice in counseling represents the process of reaching out to individuals with regard to the fair treatment of all. There are many aspects to consider within the interaction between counselor and client in order to provide the most fairest treatment available. These aspects are derived from the dynamics of the goals and process of the counseling session and constituted by policy and law development. The goals and processes are focused upon embodying individual and family systems and the policies and law development is developed through advocacy of making the focus more just and equal to the communities and society at large. Counseling professionals who are established in providing socialjustice in their framework focus upon the principles of harmony, access, equity, and participation when developing interventions and programmatic responses to the needs of their clients. The interventions and programmatic responses are designed to be comprehensive and preventive in nature. Harmony occurs when the needs of the individuals produce results creating for better outcomes society as a whole, which establishes a societal balance. Societal balance is maintained when the needs of individuals and minority groups are taken into account and placed into action. Access to social justice occurs when clients and those within the family system are provided with power, knowledge, information, services, and resources critical to healthy development and self determination.

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Remedies for Breach of Contract In a claim for damages the first issue is remoteness of damage; how far down the sequence of cause and effect should the consequences of breach be traced before they become so indirect that they should be ignored. Under the rule of Hadley v Baxendale (1854) damages may only be awarded in respect of loss as follows: The loss must arise naturally accordingly to the usual course of things, from the breach; or The loss must arise in a manner which the parties, in making the contract may reasonably have contemplated s the probable result of the breach of it. A loss outside the natural cause of events will only be compensated if the exceptional circumstances, which the cause of loss are within the defendants knowledge, when he made the contract. Secondly the court must decide how much money (the measure of damages) to award in respect of breach and its relevant consequences. Monetary damages for breach of contract are intended to be compensatory, i.e. put the injured party in the position he reasonably expected to be in when the contract was created. Liquidated damages may be included in the contract but are not always upheld by the courts if it is excessive. Unliquidated damages are those decided after the breach occurs, either by the parties themselves or by the courts. When establishing the financial value of the plaintiff s loss, the court is governed by a number of
  • 11. Why Do Not Football Helmets Promote Neck Injuries Essay The goal of this project is to work towards answering the question of whether or not football helmets promote neck injuries. In order to gather data, a U of R team made a machine that rapidly changes speed while translating from side to side to stimulate a rotational acceleration and velocity about the head and neck due to an angular displacement. The purpose of this machine is to simulate an unexpected and sudden change in motion of the head in order to analyse the resulting motion. The data collected was the rotational position of the head, the linear position of the cart, and the linear position of a point on the body. All measurements were made with and without a helmet. In order to answer the main question, there had to be a further understanding of how the mechanics of the head and neck change with the addition of a helmet. To achieve this, MATLAB was used to compute the resulting velocities and accelerations, the reaction forces at the neck, and the moment about the base of the neck. From these calculations, it is possible to make observations about how the addition of a helmet affects the dynamics of the head and neck. The code is structured with a script of general input data such as the given data and labels for plots. All of the given position data was corrected to start at position zero for better comparison between the positions with and without the helmet. The information was then passed into a function that converted all data into the desired units, computed
  • 12. Good Communication Within A Business Environment Abstract Communication is one of the most important skills that people utilize everyday. Mainly people use this to exchange ideas and develop interpersonal relationships. The specific reasons it is key to have good communication within a business environment is that it will assist in the success of a business as well as developing required professional relationships. Research has been conducted into six of the most key communication aspects that effect businesses in the previous sentences. These six are; communication channel, non verbal communication, correct wording, cultural conflicts, personal perception and he quantity of communication. If these aspects are not considered for a reasonable amount of time before the commencement of a day they can have detrimental affects on the business, by business relationships being damaged, or never formed, and without these relationships it will be harder for a business to succeed. Before we can discuss why communication is vital we must define it, it is defined as The imparting or exchanging of information by speaking, writing, or using some other medium. (Oxford, 2015) Communication is key based on this definition not only in business but also just in life. It is also a difficult object to get right, and needs to be planned thoroughly before continuing. (Dewatripont Triole 2005, p. 1217) This supported by many other authors. The question has been posed, Does communication always have a positive effect on a business?

These are the main ideas perpetuated in AMC s thriller television show The Walking Dead. From the very beginning, the show portrayed minorities as nothing more than the magical negro helping to further Rick s survival in the zombie infested world. As more characters are introduced, the majorities are of the white race with a few exceptions; Morgan, his son, and T Dog are African American. Literature Review Matthew Hughey wrote Cinethetic Racism: White Redemption and Black Stereotypes in Magical Negro Films in 2009 to dicuss the trend of progressive African American representation called the magical negro. Hughey examined 26 films to understand race relations and how mainstream audiences interpret the films. He found that the magical negro are placed in subservient positions and can reaffirm the status quo by changing contemporary racism rather than showing evidence of racial progress. This literature piece is used to help describe the relationship between the majority and minority groups within the film, and

  • 22. The Economic Problems Of The Reconstruction Era Equality and freedom between blacks and whites were very different, causing problems to breakout. The Reconstruction Era went on from 1863 to 1877. It was taken place in the South, it was the greatest problem that still remained after the Civil War and had to be solved. In general, the changes made after the Civil War did not help African Americans move closer to achieving the American Dream due to the economic, political and social problems that they faced due to the reconstruction. The problems that southerners produced around the Reconstruction Acts stopped blacks from having any say economically in the Reconstruction Era, distancing them away from the economic freedom they had always wanted and achieving the American Dream. One of the biggest economic problems they faced was sharecropping. A sharecropper was a tenant farmer especially in the southern US who is provided with credit for land, tools, living quarters, and food, who works on the land, and who receives an agreed share of the value of the crop minus charges(Sharecropping Worksheet). The landowners soil was not guaranteed to be good as well, and if it was bad then it made it harder for the farmers to grow crops. Dealing with all of this made it very hard for farmers to actually make enough money to pay the landowner back and have enough money to do tenant farming. Which made it nearly impossible to get out of sharecropping and achieve the American Dream. The Black Codes also impacted African Americans

For example, some of his athletes might respond better to him having a go at them after a poor performance and some might respond better to a friendly arm around the shoulder. It is vital that he is able to recognise which athlete s need which type of management or he could be damage his relationship with the athlete which could result in a drop in their confidence and their performance. • 24. Symbolism In Katherine Mansfield s The Garden Party The Garden Party by Katherine Mansfield is a short story about a wealthy family having, as the title would suggest, a garden party. More specifically the story follows the inner turmoil of the youngest daughter, Laura. She has no choice but to see her family s true colors when a poorer neighbor passes away. Laura s familysees her as childish because of her kind nature but she receives a rude awakening that causes her to mature greatly at the end of the story. It appears that Laura has led a very sheltered life, which is the reason she acts so childish. When presented with the opportunity to eat out of doors that the garden party provides, she becomes excited and feels somewhat rebellious, which implies she follows a strict set of ... Laura s doubts disappear when her mother presents her with a beautiful hat and tells her she is being extravagant in trying to prevent the party from happening. Any time the death comes again to her attention, she immediately returns to her guilt over the situation. Repeatedly her beautiful hat and lace frock receive attention, as in Laura s conversation with her brother that reads: My word, Laura! You do look stunning, said Laurie. What an absolutely topping hat! This repetition may symbolize materialism and the superficial differences between the rich and the poor. When not influenced by others to prioritize appearances, Laura seems to understand that none of the rules that dictate who is influential in society matters. The same kindness that makes Laura s family see her as naive is the precise trait that makes her the most mature of them. At the end of the story, Laura seems to have some kind of great revelation upon seeing the dead man. She marvels at how peaceful he looks and is again ashamed of her own trivial problems such as the placement of the marquee in front of the trees she found the most beautiful, thinking What did garden parties and baskets and

For an essay to be considered a good essay, it has to be entertaining, the readers should be able to picture an image in their mind. For many others, they may have different ideas about what a good writer is. For example, I don t like it when writers give out too much information. They will describe things and go on and on about it. Others might like this, but I don t like it when the writers do this. Most writers have one of the qualities that I think makes a good writer. In William Zinsser s The Act of Writing: One Man s Method he gives a lot of information on writing a paper and how to improve my writing skills. He talks about editing, cutting and revising (166). Garden Of The Forking Paths Analysis In the story The Garden Of Forking Paths by Jorges Luis Borges takes the basic aspects of the spy thriller, plays with them to create a spy thriller that doesn t follow the rules of the genre exactly. One example of this is in most spy thrillers, the protagonist is portrayed as nearly superhuman, and invulnerable, while in Garden Of The Forking Paths the main character is arrested and killed at the end of the story. Another aspect of the spy thriller that Borges distorts is the motivation for the spy to continue his duties. The Natural Family Planning ( Safe Period ) 3 Natural family planning ( safe period): Natural family planning is one of the most widely utilized means of birth control, espicially for those whom their religion or their cultural beliefs do not authorize devices or drugs for birth control. This method includes periodic abstinence, to avoid intercourse during a female s fertile period, which is around the time of ovulation. Determination of the fertile period involve the calendar method, cervical mucus method, or the symptothermal method technique. The calendar method is based on 3 hypotheses as follows: The human ovum can be fertilized only for approximately 24 hours after ovulation, spermatozoa can maintain their ability of fertilizing for only 48 hours after coitus, and ovulation usually occurs 12 16 days before the onset of the subsequent menestruation. The menses is recorded for 6 cycles to estimate the fertile period. The earliest day of the fertile period is calculated by the number of days in the shortest menstrual cycle subtracted by 18. The latest day of the fertile period is assessed by the number of days in the longest cycle subtracted by 11. * Efficacy: The failure rate in typical utilization is estimated to be approximately 25%. * Advantages: No adverse effects from hormones occur. Some go wrong, while the majority has turn into major historical accomplishments. Some of the accomplishments have affected the country for many years and on. As many presidents have achieved their duties beyond expectation, Teddy Roosevelt was one of the outstanding presidents who have done so. Teddy has a long list of his accomplishments, but there are five that have sent him above all. Teddy Roosevelt was always fascinated with nature. His first important achievement was the beginning of the National Park System. He was very set upon keeping the Earth clean. Roosevelt saw how Americans were inadvertently killing the Earth with pollution, so he got together with preservationists and solved the problem. The first feeble step toward conservation had been taken with the Desert Land Act of 1877, under which the federal government sold arid land cheaply on the condition that the purchaser irrigate the thirsty soil within three years. This was important in the overall project because it got the ball rolling and opened many Americans eyes to the growing issue of pollution. However, More successful was the Forest Reserve Act of 1891, authorizing the president to set aside public forests as national parks and other reserves. Under this statute some 46 million acres of magnificent trees were rescued
  • 34. Hang Clean Research Paper A hang clean is a movement that may not appear to be complicated, but once you start using this Olympic style lift in your training you will begin to notice it truly is a lift that works out most of the body. The overview of this movement can be best explained by incorporating vectors into the lift. In a static position, an athlete will have their head looking straight ahead, having a vector move away from the head. The grip of the hands on the barbell will be firm and secure as the athlete prepares to start the motion of the lift. This is indicated by two small vectors, one above the hang and one below the hand, which represents the grip of the hands. The same two small vector s are on each foot as well because the athlete is on a hard surface.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The p, or toppling force does have a significant change throughout the lift. The p force is the force to move a body in an unstable state. To calculate my p for my static and dynamic 1 phases, I first had to find my weight in kilograms and my height in centimeters. I am 165 pounds which is 75 kilograms if you divide 165 by 2.2. This is the proper way to convert weight from pounds to kilograms. Next, I calculated my height. I am 6 feet tall which means I am 182.88 centimeters in height. You can calculate your height by multiplying your height in feet and inches by 12 because there are 12 inches in a foot and then multiply that number by 2.54. The last part of my calculation that I needed to solve for p was my b, or toppling base. I measured this by simply going straight down from my center of gravity and the measuring outward to the foot. In this case my b was 13 centimeters. I multiplied my weight in kilograms and toppling base to complete one part of the equation and then divided that answer by my height in centimeters to solve for p. My p for my static and dynamic 1 phases was 5.33 cm/kg. My p for my dynamic 2 phase was slightly different. My b was 18.6 centimeters instead of 13 from my previous phases. After going through the same steps as above but using my new b value, my p for my dynamic 2 phase was 7.63 cm/kg. The final parts of stability include the

The Supreme Court upheld the property tax exemptionfor churches, ruling that it did not violate the Establishment clause. In the majority opinion, Chief Justice Warren Burger emphasized that the First Amendment will not tolerate either governmentally established religion or governmental interference with religion ( Walz v. He used this framework to judge whether the tax exemption violated the First Amendment. The scene was that of an auditorium with six candidates seated at a table in the front and to what appeared to be the group moderator at a podium to the right of the room. The camera did not focus in on much of the audience for me to give an accurate description, but there were several members there to observe and many had questions for the Candidates. The Kentucky House of Representatives Candidate Forum was an open ended group. In other words, it was open to the public primarily because it had a political agenda for gaining voters for the Candidates that shared their views. The Candidates Forum can be identified by several of the groups mentioned in our text, but the two groups that I feel best fit the description are: Educational group and a Focus Group. First, I identified it with an educational because the Candidates objective is to educate the viewers on their political stance in the race as well as educate the viewers about important issues that need to be addressed. Lastly, I identified it with a focus group because a focus group is closely related to task groups and problem solving and decision making groups in that they identify needs or issues,

My neighbour asked me if he could use my lawnmower and I told him of course he could, so long as he didn t take it out of my garden. 1 This is the concept which most people tend to associate the word neighbour with. However, in the court room, the word makes a decisive shift away from this traditional meaning and endeavours to establish to whom a common law duty of care is owed. Argumentative Essay On Extraterrestrial Life Aliens: Existence of the Inevitable Researching the probability of alien existence in the 21st century Throughout the 21st Century, the existence of extraterrestrial life has become a widely explored topic in science fiction movies, books, and magazines. In more recent years however, NASA has developed a division of space exploration that is especially dedicated to discovering and protecting Earth from any extraterrestrial life that may have negative effects on our planets inhabitants. This division of the NASA organization raises questions for the average civilian: does alien life exist, and if so, when and how will we discover it? Because new technology is being created every day, Douglas Vakoch (director of Interstellar Message Composition at the SETI) seems to think that the confirmation of extraterrestrial life is not far away: [T]he chances are getting better with every passing year , Vakoch said in an interview with Space.com. He added that within the next decade, we may well discover we re not alone in the universe. And while the life that NASA discover may not be the equivalent of the aliens seen in Star Wars, it will be bacterial and microbial life nonetheless. This may be true, but there are still people who doubt the existence of interstellar life despite technological advancements. The basic gist of this theory proposes that because there are so many possible Earth like planets, it is probable that aliens are developing or have developed a method of interstellar travel, (as NASA is attempting now).
