Air For Band Analysis
Band Air for Band Frank Erickson Grade 2 This classic of band literature has beautiful melodies.
While it appears simple on the surface, it offers a wonderful opportunity to teach bands about
long legato phrasing and balance. This piece is mainly in the key of C Minor. There are many
syncopated entrances, providing an excellent opportunity to work with students on developing
an internal beat. Blue Ridge Saga James Swearingen Grade 2 This piece includes a variety of
meter (including 6/8) and styles for students to play in. There are some places in the 6/8 where
the band plays in duples. There is a short percussion solo and several solis for upper woodwinds
and trumpets; they also have some 16th note runes. This piece has a catchy... Show more content on

Several sections get the chance to play soli including flutes, clarinets, trumpets, and trombones. The
work is in ABA form, with contrast in styles between marcato and legato making this piece
interesting. Prehistoric Suite Paul Jennings Grade 1.5 This piece is a great way to introduce
multimovement pieces to beginning groups. It is a programmatic work with four short movements
including: Stegosaurus; Brontosaurus; Pteradactyls and The Battle (Tyrannosaurus and
Triceratops). Each movement has a different mood for students to play in. The fourth movement
has some free time sections for students to experiment with. There are several other things that may
be new for students including glissandos and disonant chords. Train Heading West Other Outdoor
Scenes Timothy Broege Grade 1 Train Heading West is a three movement work that is highly
programmatic. The last movement represents the train; the movement starts slowly and accelerates
drammatically. Near the end of the piece the train reaches its final destination. There is a lot of
unison playing and section soli. This piece has a lot of sudden dynamic contrast and contrasting
articulation styles. Percussion play train whistle and use

The Environmental Degradation Of Pakistan
Abstract
One of the major challenges facing today is to meet the demands of increasing population and to
reduce the environmental degradation caused by over population and industrialization. Increasing
environmental degradation is damaging the productivity of agriculture lands. The factors affecting
the productivity include soil erosion, salinization, water logging, and desertification. These factors
cause low crop yields and deterioration of environment. In this paper we will identifies the factors
limiting crop yields in Pakistan and suggest suitable technologies to realize sustainable crop yields,
while improving the environmental conditions.
Introduction
Land degradation is a process in which the value of the biophysical environment is affected by a
combination of human induced processes acting upon the land. Pakistan is a arid to semi arid
country. The natural resource base of land, water and vegetation in arid and semi arid areas is
highly fragile and extremely vulnerable to degradation. The total geographical area of Pakistan
is 79.6 mha out of which 34.44% is arable. The population of Pakistan is over 180 million and it
is increasing at the rate of 2.6% per annum (Zia et al., 2003). This can lead to over exploitation of
natural resources, including soil. Other factors are also contributing to land degradation. For
example good agricultural land for crop production is shrinking as a result of fragmentation, rapid
converting of productive agricultural land into

Myths Are Stories That Express Meaning, Morality Or...
Myths are stories that express meaning, morality or motivation. Whether they are true or not is
irrelevant. This was quoted by writer Michael Shermer, and it still holds today. This quote
displays that myths have the power to take the reader away from reality and launch them into a
world of mystery and phenomena. Also, even if myths have different stories and different
characters, they all in some way portray regular societal values. For example, The Fisherman and
The Jinnee , Sifrit , and Song of Roland all tell divergent stories with very diverse characters. But
by the end, they all portray the values of righteousness and how one man, or herocan rescue an
entire society.
A myth is an image of terms in which we try to make ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They eventually race in the woods to get drinks and when it is not suspicious, Hagen stabs Sifrit in
the weak spot with a lance. Gunther kills Hagen immediately after. Once Chriemhilde hears of what
happened, she begins to kill most of those who were involved with his murder. However, she
eventually gets killed by the Huns.
In Roland, the main hero Rollanz is a powerful, courageous, and determined hero who is
protected by ruler Charlemagne. In the 7 year war, he had to influence an army through an
ambush by himself. As the warrior he is, he fights the battle rather than calling in reinforcements.
However, this lead to the tragic death of his comrade Olivier, and most of his soldiers. Towards
the end, he blew the oil paint which hollered for help to aid the rest of his people. This decision
lead to his death, which makes him a martyr. Roland is similar to the myths of Sundiata and
Fisherman and the Jinnee because of their actions and decision making made them heroes in their
respective myths. Each of these myths have a hero either protecting their loved ones, or saving their
loved ones from danger. In Sundiata, the griot is illustrated as brave, due to his willingness to slay
enemies left and right, while disregarding his own safety in battle, much like Rollanz. However, in
the Fisherman and the Jinnee, the main fisherman does not use violence but instead he uses his
genius intellect to take himself out of tough situations. This shows that these

The Black Arts Movement And The Civil Rights Movement
The twentieth century was one of the most active periods of social movements, along with the
Civil Rights campaigns of the 1960s was the Antiwar Movement, where most Americans were in
opposition with the government on the U.S. involvement in the Vietnam war. Domestically,
social and economic conditions gave voice to the people to embark on a revolution for change.
For African Americans the struggle for equality had been going on for decades. But the
movement went to a new level after the death of Emmitt Till in August 1955, a 14 year old black
boy murdered and disfigured by white men in Mississippi for allegedly flirting with a white
woman, and the arrest of Rosa Parks December 1955, who refused to give up her seat in the
colored section of the bus to a white passenger. The beginning of the Feminist Movement in 1963
women began to fight for respect and equality socially and economically. The Black Arts Movement
which was the cultural wing of the Black Power Movement began to play out on college campuses.
The 1970s remained tied to the social experiments and struggles of the 1960s. African Americans
were still fighting for education equality around the country. But signs emerged of another change.
January 23, 1973 President Richard Nixon announces the end of U.S. involvement in the Vietnam
war. The Civil Rights Movement and the Women s Movement accomplished many of their goals.
The U.S. suffered an economic recession, interest rates and inflation were high. Music

Why the Spanish Armada Invaded Britain and Lost Essay
Spanish Armada Essay
In this essay I am going to look at why the Spanish armada wanted to invade Britain and why
they failed to do so, was it down to luck or were the British too smart for the Spanish. And was it
all England s glory?
The Spanish wanted to invade England was mainly to turn England back into a catholic country,
and to get Queen Elizabeth of the throne and to get a queen who was for the catholic monarch on
the throne. However there are many other reasons: Firstly Philip II couldn?t accept that was not the
king of England, as he was married to Queen Mary I, who was the Queen before Elizabeth.
Secondly, when Philip proposed to Elizabeth she turned him down. Another reason is Elizabeth
wouldn?t stop the privateers from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, before Philip sent the ships out Admiral Sanata Cruz, Spain?s best sailor, died and Philip
replaced him with the Duke of Medina Sidonia, who suffered from seasickness and did not really
want to do the job. Was this a good idea? And should the Spanish of waited to find a new leader
who wanted to do the job?
During the sail up to England the Armada were told to keep a crescent formation no matter what
happened this was the golden rule. The idea of this was so if an English ship was to come in
from behind they could scoop it up like a net. The formation was that the stronger ships would go
at the front so they could easily surround any English ships that threatened the centre. This was the
plan, however it did not all go that way! Lord Howard, commander of the English fleet, used some
of the lighter and faster English ships to ?pick off? some of the stragglers (ones that were lagging
behind) whilst they were sailing up the English channel. Unfortunately this did not really affect the
crescent shape. Next came arguably one of the smartest moves in the battle, on 7th August Sir
Francis Drake sent out a number of old ships that had been set on fire, the Spanish were petrified,
they were not sure if the Ships had explosives on it, if they did so did the Spanish ships and the
chances of them setting on fire was very high. This came as a complete surprise to the

Firearms in America In America there are two strong sides that are for and against the owning
of firearms. I will refer to the side that is for firearms as the pro gun side and antigun side for those
who oppose firearms. In this paper I will discuss how firearms affect our lives here in America. I
will inform you what a firearmis and how they are used. I will discuss whether owning a firearm is
ever morally permissible. I hope that by the end of this paper that you will be able make your

If you do not believe me that if the government ban assault rifles that people could still get them
then just look at drugs they are illegal but people are still able to buy them and use them. One of
the antigun side arguments is that we should out outlaw all assault rifles because they are
automatic therefore they are too dangerous and could end up in the wrong hands. Pro gun side
say that if we start banning all assault rifles when does it stop next we will be banning pistols
because they are automatic. The pro gun side is using the slippery slope agreement stating that by
banning one set of guns will eventually ban all guns. The antigun side making a benefits argument
stating that if these guns were banned they could not end up in the wrong and less massacres
would happen. The pro gun side argues that the second amendment states that we have the right to
bear arms. That if we were to ban guns that we would infringe our rights. The antigun gun side
claims that by having limiting guns will not infringe on anyone s right that it will only make our
lives safer. They also say that assault rifles do not belong in civilian hands, that they belong only on
the battlefields. These two arguments go back and forth all the time. This is mainly between
republicans and democrats, both trying to gain some political advantage. I think

King Lear Leadership
The Study of king Lear lacks in the theme s of leadership and personal relationship. In the
beginning of the book, it seems to the reader, as if King Lear has a good relationship with his
daughters and his trusting friend, Kent. But as the reader goes further into the book, they realize
that his personal relationship with his daughters is lacking. King Learfirst establishes this by, asking
his daughters how much they love him Tell me, my daughters, which of you shall we say doth
love us most? (1.1.52) King Lear is trying to find out which one of his daughters loves him the

In my opinion, Human nature is something that everyone talks about but no one can define
precisely. Our thoughts, feelings, and behavior are produced not only by our individual
experiences and environment in our own lifetime but also by what happened to our ancestors
years ago. Also, our thoughts, feelings, and behavior are shared, to a large extent, by all men or
women, despite seemingly large cultural differences which causes hate, fights, and wars. In King
Lear, he is treated very horrible by his two daughters Goneril and Regan. They both neglect him
and plot his death, which shows how human nature works. The more power and money you have,
the more you want, greed takes over. For two daughters to plot their fathers death is brutal, I pray
you, father, being weak, seem so (2.4.196). These words from

Use of Irony to Portray Morality in Lord Byron s Don Juan
In Don Juan, George Gordon, Lord Byron, diverges from his name sake characterization with an un
Byronic hero, Don Juan. The poem has been viewed as nihilistic and immoral. Actually there is
plenty present in the first canto to show morality and hope for humanity. The poem should be
viewed as the author intended: a satire on abuses of the present state of Society, an not an eulogy on
vice... (Bostetter 9). Don Juan is a satire and therefore the morals present are shown in an ironic
way. If fact, he wrote in such an obvious ironic fashion that it is hard to imagine the message was
lost on many. His ironic theme is based on what people think and what they actually do. In effect...

Byron pokes fun at the hypocritical nature of people. An overabundant curiosity in other s affairs is
certainly looked down upon yet it is rampant among people. Thus within in one sentence Byron
points this idea out; people say one thing yet do another. This problem is central to what Byron sees
as wrong with society, the basic hypocritical nature of people. There is truth to his thinking and by
directing the reader to notice this, he can be said to be wanting to change that. Change usually does
not occur until the fault is presented outright. Indeed, one form taken by the philosophic irony
underlying the first canto suggests that cant and hypocrisy may endanger the very continuity of
civilized tradition (Bostetter 22).
The narrator, using his particular talent in prying in people s affairs feels fit to speak of Juan s
upbringing. Instead of quarreling, had they been but both in,/ Their senses, they d have sent
young master forth/ To school, or had him soundly whipp d at home,/ To teach him manners for
the time to come (Byron 197 200). This presents a sort of paradox the reader may find it immoral
for the narrator to judge Juan s parents and yet without this view Juan s later episodes would have
less meaning behind them; for we would not know the reasons behind his behavior. Perhaps we
would find the narrator s opinion of Juan s parents biased. Therefore we are told more of their
immoral behavior. They lived an unhappy sort of life,/ Wishing each other,

Search For Identity, Love And Truth
Have you ever been woken up by somebody telepathically talking to you? Well, that s how our
main character, Thomas, wakes from his deep slumber. His life has been a whirlwind up until
this point. His best friend died, he doesn t know where he is, and he barely can remember his life
before he was thrown into the horrid maze that changed him forever. So far, Thomas has lost his
girl Teresa and wondered the Scorched plains of what used to be the Earth. His group of boys has
suffered multiple casualties including the injury of Minho their commander. They have also
encountered a clan who call themselves Cranks lead by a crazed, sleep deprived, completely

This time, they re forcing the children to complete the Scorch Trials . These trials are sets of
daunting tasks that WICKED claims will benefit the human race if completed: Continue to
respond well to the Variables, continue to survive, and you ll be rewarded with the knowledge
that you ve played a part in saving the human race. And yourselves, of course (Dashner 55). As the
man said, they will have to endure the Variables that WICKED could change and any minute. For
example, the boys ran into some inclement weather while traveling the arid plains of the Scorch.
This storm, consisting of lighting and sand, ultimately ended in the demise of Winston, a good
friend of Thomas, and left the once been Gladers broken and defeated. Love. It s a very obscure
concept to some, yet a very material necessity to others. The search for love has gone above and
beyond what we would call normal in this book. Thomas, being that he evidently had a
childhood with Teresa, has fallen in love with her. Her ominous disappearance and resurgence
early within the book lead the reader to believe WICKED is attempting to pry into Thomas
mental stability. As the story progresses, Thomas and the boys reach the Cranks, as previously
stated, they meet their leader Jorge and his fairly attractive assistant Brenda. Brenda immediately
falls for Thomas. The line between his love for Brenda and Teresa is blurred by Brenda s cogent
displays of physical affection: No, Brenda, he

Contextual Interpretation Of Religion In Shakespeare s Hamlet
Contextual Interpretations Of Religion
In Shakespeare s Hamlet At the time of Shakespeare s writing The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of
Denmark (hereby referred to as Hamlet), the two most commonly practiced denominations of
Christianity in Europe were Catholicism and Protestantism. Within the play itself, Shakespeare
references the traditions and ideas of both religions freely, creating cause for debate among modern
scholars as to what part, if any, religious context plays in Hamlet. The influence of both religions is
evident; however, as Shakespeare mixes the two, difficulties arise in finding a clear interpretation
of the opposing religious contexts. The idea of Catholicism as the foremost religion in Shakespeare
s Hamlet arises as a direct ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During this time period, Denmark was considered a Protestant (and more specifically, Lutheran)
nation. It has never been made clear whether or not Shakespeare intended to mirror the true to life
Denmark in his work, but the references can be easily inferred. One of the most important pieces of
evidence related to Protestantism in Hamlet is in reference to the University of Wittenberg, which
Hamlet, Horatio, Rosencrantz, and Guildenstern attend during the course of the work. Wittenberg,
the city in which their university is located, is widely known as the birthplace of Protestantism and
was made famous in part by Martin Luther s Protestant Reformation and the nailing of the 95
Theses to the door of the All Saints Church. The university itself also has significant ties to
Protestantism; Martin Luther himself was a professor at the University of Wittenberg and it was
during his tenure as Wittenberg s Doctor of Bible that Luther conceived of his famous 95 Theses. In
addition, the University of Wittenberg served as a center of the Protestant Reformation movement
in Europe. Therefore, it can be inferred that during their time at the university, Hamlet and his
acquaintances would likely have been very heavily exposed to and quite possibly even expected to
serve the Protestant

Analysis Of The Poem Ode Of A Nightingale By John Keats
Alaysia Murphy ENG 134 04 Prof. Palmioli 11/3/15 Explication for Ode to a Nightingale
Literature often reflects real life. The world of imagination is a euphoric release from the world of
actuality but paradoxically this world of imagination makes the world of actuality even more
painful than what it is. Human life is often full of conflicts for example, the interconnection or
mixture of pain/joy, intensity of feeling/numbness or lack of feeling, life/death, the actual/the ideal,
and separation/connection. In the poem Ode to a Nightingale written by John Keats, the poet
seems to be praising the nightingale for its melodious tune but upon further investigation it is
revealed that he is actually using the nightingale and its song as a means of escaping the realities
of human life. This poem is about the intense feelings the poet has about the transience about the
nature of reality. Keats discovers the creativity of human life and the morality throughout the
poem. The poet is in search of the pure joy and ecstasy sung in the nightingale s song which is
completely unaware of the anguish and suffering of reality. The poet believes that if he lives a life
similar to that of the nightingale that he will be removed from all pain and anguish. As the poem
progresses the poet ponders different ways of joining the nightingale and what he considers
paradise. He comes to the conclusion that he cannot escape the realities of the human world. Keats
probably wrote this poem when he

Literary Analysis Of Home Burial By Robert Frost
Terri Adams Kimbrell
Logan M. Oliver
ENGL 1312
24 September 2017 Home Burial
Robert Frost s poem Home Burial speaks of the tragedies in a couple s life. The theme of Home
Burial is centered at the death of couple s child. It seems that men did not express their feelings
well during this time. Home Burial demonstrates how one life tragedy can cause another to
tragedy because of emotions that are uncontrollable. The man and woman in this poem has lost
their baby to due to death. The mother is grieving and it seems she doesn t recover from this
loss; parents who lose a child never forget, but most people do find ways to cope and move on in
life. The baby is buried in the family burial site and can be seen from a window in the couple s
home. Every day the mother goes to the window looking at the family plot. Watching the place
where her child s body is buried continues the sadness she feels. But, another emotion is contained
in this wife and mother and that is anger and resentment at her husband. At first, the reason for
her anger seems unknown. The reasoning starts to show when it says she refused him any help,
with the least stiffening of her neck and silence. (lines13 14) Their dialogue is cold. What is it
what? /Just that I see. / You don t, she challenged. /Tell me what it is. (lines18 19). In the
husband s first couple of lines and his last one, his attitude toward his wife seems insensitive.
First he tells her he wants to know why she keeps looking at through the window; then he tells
her she must tell him. Even though he ends the last part with dear , doesn t make it feel any less
of a demand to the wife and at the end of the poem, he ask, Where do you mean to go? First tell
me that. / I ll follow and bring you back by force. I will! (115). In between his words he seems to
attempt to learn how to talk with his wife, and he ask her to help him, but she has resentment in her
way. It seems that the husband is stressed and anxious. The wife, on the other hand, is going
through a hard time emotionally and she needs support and compassion and is not getting these
needs from her husband. Twice during the poem she starts to leave the house, and twice the
husband delays her, by

The War on Drugs
To fully understand the significance and the seriousness of a War one must first fully understand
the reasons that caused it in the first place. In this specific case the solution begins with several
important yet seemingly simple questions...What is marijuana? How is it used? And why is it so
coveted and widely distributed in Jamaica as well as the rest of the world?... All these questions
help clarify the reasoning behind the war on drugs and further investigation shows how Jamaica
ends up being an important country in this puzzle as well. Lets begin with the first question, (What

Moreover, the longer a substance has been illegal and the harder it is to obtain the substance the
more profitable it becomes. Therefore, marijuana (because it fits into this category) can be a
very profitable in its import and export for a country even if it is outlawed as illegal. One
country that has struggled endlessly with this drug, its illegal usage, and decriminalization is
Jamaica. Using Jamaica as a model for the more in depth study of the war against drugs proves to
be most interesting in that Jamaica has had a long and economically fluctuating history with
marijuana. Henceforth, to lead us into the study of Jamaica and its legalization and decimalization
of marijuana that can be used on both a large and small scale we turn to a reliable inside source of
Jamaican journalist. Where they discover that the strong marijuana presence in Jamaica has been an
issue which has sparked some controversy and questioning, regarding the decriminalization of
marijuana amongst not only Jamaicans but people all over the world. Many people have asked the
question, how can marijuana be so abundant and openly used in a country and yet not be legal or at
least decriminalized? Jamaican journalists, through research, surveys, and most importantly
experiences with the culture itself, address in a special and unique way the issue of marijuana and

Sacagawea s Impact On The Lewis And Clark Expedition
Sacagawea s help on the Lewis and Clark Expedition Makes it a Success All across America
people know the name of Sacagawea, the Indian interpreter for the Lewis and Clark expedition.
Sacagawea was known for being the only woman on the expedition, but many people may not
know all the reasons as to how she survived being the only woman. She became strong through all
of the events that happened to her. Sacagawea, the only woman on the Lewis and Clark expedition,
survived because of events that happened to her at a young age and because of her good
interpreting skills. Sacagawea, also known as Bird woman, was the daughter of a Shoshonechief( A
Fine Boy ). Sacagawea s tribe, the Shoshone, was a very poor tribe(Patrick, Mcgrath). She was
born in either 1788 or in 1789(Patrick, Mcgrath). Sacagawea was captured by the Hidatsa
Indians at the young age of 12 and she was also raised by them( A Fine Boy ). Because she was
the daughter of an Indian tribe, she made the expedition a success and was able to accompany
Lewis and Clark on their return back to their own country(Fisher,Doris,pg 14). The expedition may

A Look into Some Causes, Effects, and Possible Solutions of Deforestation in the Global
Environment
I.Introduction With society s demand and need for the earth s resources, deforestation has long
been a prevalent environmental issue at hand and has picked up significant momentum more
recently. Deforestation occurs around the world, however, according to GRID Arendal, it is most
prevalent in areas with tropical rainforests such as Brazil, Indonesia, Thailand, the Democratic
Republic of Congo and other parts of Africa, and parts of Eastern Europe (Szalay 1). For a
number of reasons, trees are being cleared at massive levels resulting in poor quality land and
have created negative effects and impacts on the global environment. Since deforestation is caused
by both human and natural factors such as wildfires and overgrazing, it is difficult to completely
pinpoint one cause ( Deforestation 1). However, researching and looking at which causes are most
impactful can help deduce possible solutions to help prevent unnecessary and excessive tree
clearing. It is important to look into solutions to help prevent deforestation because it is negatively
impacting the world s environment and making it difficult for certain animals, such as birds, and
even humans to maintain their standard of living and their quality of life. And so, in an attempt to
delve a bit deeper with regards to deforestation, this paper will

On Narcissism, The Uncanny, And Beyond The Pleasure P
I will focus on three essays by Sigmund Freud: On Narcissism, The Uncanny, and Beyond the
Pleasure Principle. By examining these three essays, the influence of Freud s theories can be
determined. These essays will determine what Freud offers literary critics today and how they use
his theories in their work. Many of Freud s theories overlap; his theories of the unconscious are
explored in Beyond the Pleasure Principle and The Uncanny. In studying Freud s theories, and
applying them to literature and literary criticisms, the progression of psychologyand the
understanding of humanity will become clear. Psychological theory studies the human mind. In
relation to literature, psychological theory studies the characters. What are their... Show more

Psychology has always had a deep impact on literature, so much that authors must use this theory to
delve into their characters motivations and actions. It is evident through the three Freud essays
discussed that topics and ideas seem to overlap. This is the nature of studying psychology; concepts
and ideas are connected to create a network that can be studied applied to not only the human mind,
but to the mind of an author or their fictional characters. In applying Sigmund Freud s ideas to
literature, critics can examine characters as if they were real. In our world, these characters are
not real. In the context of a work of fiction, for example, the characters are real. The confines of a
novel is the space in which they are alive. Examining characters as if they too have an unconscious
that compels them to unexplained actions allows critics, and readers of critics, to occupy that
character s headspace and become that character for a

Rhetorical Strategies In Climate Change
The Uncertainty of Science: Rhetorical Strategies in the Climate Change Debate
In 2015, world leaders gathered together for the United Nations climate conference in Paris, in
hopes of reaching an emissions agreement to reduce climate change. The outcome was a global
pact between 195 countries, including the United States. The politicians and policy makers of the
conference were heavily influenced by a study done by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric
Administration (NOAA). The Pausebuster study, published in 2015, refuted a 2013 study by
United Nations scientists, which claimed that global warming had slowed down from 1998 to
2013. The NOAA study, in fact, reported that the increase of global warming per decade had

She even labels David Rose as a false journalist by highlighting a false climate science coverage
and Iraqi weaponry claims (1). Gallucci backs up her labels by using twitter post from Zeke
Hausfather, a climate scientist at U.C Berkeley and Gavin A. Schmidt, the director of the
NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies (2). She also uses a blog post from Victor Vienna, a
German scientist with the World Meteorological Organization (5). Lastly, she uses a penned

NOAA study (5). Rose also uses bias by labeling by presenting Dr. John Bate s evidence as
irrefutable , instead of as unverified, as correctly mentioned in Gallucci s article (Rose 1). He
also quickly links the 2015 NOAA study to the infamous 2009 Climategate scandal, in which
scientists manipulated data before the UN summit (2). In fact, Rose renames the NOAA climate
change study to Climategate 2.0 (3). Rose s limited sources include an interview John Bates, a
study conducted by John Bates by himself, and quotes from Professor Curry from Georgia
Institute of Technology (1). Gallucci s sources are a diverse set of scientists, who can accurately

The Extinction Of Dinosaurs
Cribbins 1 Hook. The extinction of dinosaurs is a mystery in itself that has stumped scientists all
over the world for decades, and they still look for new answers every day. Scientists know some
background information, but cannot connect the dots to see the bigger picture. There was little
interest in the topic until Luis and Walter Alvarez proposed a groundbreaking hypothesis, which
today we call the Alvarez Hypothesis . This new idea of the Alvarez s was exciting, and therefore
got the media talking about it, which in turn started the search of how the dinosaurs went extinct.
Another popular theory of how dinosaurs went extinct is the Volcanism Theory. Scientists have
recently found new evidence supporting both sides of this debate. Although many dinosaur
extinction theories exist, only the Alvarez Hypothesis is correct. Scientists abase their extinction
theories off one of commonly known piece of information: that there was a change in climate
around the time of the K T boundary. Both major theories support this idea, and both believe that
something blocked out the Sun for many months. This stopped the photosynthesis in plants, the
base of the food chain. Without plants, the food chain was majorly affected. A domino effect
happened, and one species died out after another. Eventually all species of dinosaurs died out.
Scientists know that there was a global climatic change, but are not sure how it happened. The topic
of the K T Extinction received little

Fall Prevention in Hospitalized Patients Essay
Introduction Falls are a big concern for all employees in a hospital setting daily. The worst thing
that can happen to a patient while being hospitalized is a fall, or a major fall, that could result in
skin damage (i.e. wounds, skin tears, or abrasions), a fracture or break, thus limiting their
independence. This student s goal was to develop a way to educate staff members in ways they
can help reduce the number of falls that occur. Developing a sample Fall Risk Prevention Policy

Why Is Louis Sullivan Important To Chicago
Louis Sullivan revolutionized architecture, redefining art in building form. His work in the late
1800s became known across the country and brought many to Chicago, either to see his grand
creations or study the architect himself. Louis Sullivan was born in Boston on September 3rd,
1856 and began work in Chicago in 1875 for several architecture firms. He joined Adler s firm in
1879, where his major work began. Sullivan s skill in artistic design and Adler s talent for business
matters and marketing made the firm very successful, and together they created many buildings
across Chicago, eventually playing a part in the 1893 World s Fair, (although the architecture did
not meet his expectations). Louis Sullivanwas greatly important to Chicago in that he left a lasting
effect on the city and country with both his incredible architecture and his strong, innovative ideas
about the future of architecture, ideas which gave birth to great new forms such as the skyscraper.
Louis Sullivan was born in Boston, where he lived for his first 10 years. His parents were Irish
immigrants who had moved to Boston. At age 12 he was already determined to become an
architect, his impatience with classroom education moved him from school to school, as he spent
only one year at MIT, where he studied under William Ware, an architect famous for his Victorian
Gothic building style. Sullivan left for Philadelphia in 1873 and worked with the firm of Furness
and Hewitt until work slowed due to the

Gene Expression And Its Engineering
Introduction Transformation is the process of allowing a cell to be able to accept a gene into
itself and allow the gene to become part of the cell s whole, thus changing its form and expressing
the gene s function. This process was first discovered by the British bacteriologist Frederick
Griffith, who was able to transform Streptococcus pneumoniae into a different strain of Strep. in
1928 (1928). This discovery was pivotal in the way we understand geneexpression and its
engineering. An example of genetic engineering using transformation that applies to everyday life
is the synthesizing of human insulin, which is a peptide hormone that helps to regulate the amount
of sugar that runs through the bloodstream. In the early 1900s, insulin from other animals was used
to treat diabetes, but human insulin is now able to be easily produced in bulk through genetic
engineering, and has largely replaced animal insulin for the treatment of diabetes. Insulin is made
from cells in the pancreas, and the extraction of insulin from animals used to require taking it
directly from the animal s pancreas glands. It was not until 1977 that synthetic human insulin was
genetically engineered by Arthur Riggs and Keiichi Itakura, and was achieved by the process of
transformation using Escherichia colias a host (1977), which allowed for the easy reproduction of
human insulin. Using this method, the production of human insulin became large scale, faster,
cheaper, and more accessible. A weakened

Abstract In today s applications, a server generally limits the permitted transfer speed to one I P

Mirror sites are valuable when the original site creates an excessive amount of traffic to support
single server. Mirror sites likewise expand the pace with which files or websites can be gotten
to, clients can download documents all the more rapidly from a server that is topographically
closer to them. For instance, if an occupied New York based Web webpage sets up a mirror
website in England, clients in Europe can get to the mirror website quicker than the original site
in New York. Sites, for example, Netscape that offer duplicates or upgrades of famous
programming regularly set up mirror sites to handle the expansive request that a solitary site will
most likely be unable to handle. A huge number of people download file in the Server/Clientmodel.
The single most issue for productive exchange is that servers typically have some control over the
clients, for example, limiting the permitted data transfer capacity for one IP addresses. However
for a user that needs an extensive data transfer capacity and ensured association, it can be an issue.
Actually when there is no transfer speed limitation, for a crisis circumstance, a requesting client
must rival different clients. In light of TCP fairness, a needy client (in some crisis circumstances)
can t get more transfer speed than other customary clients. So the download

Pete Rose And The Hall Of Fame
My controversial topic is on Pete Rose and how he should be inducted into Baseball s Hall of
Fame. Pete Rose was a player that I looked up to when I was a young boy playing baseball. I was a
big fan of his collecting all of his baseball cards from rookie year up to the present time. Now, most
of the baseballcritics and others do not want Pete Rose inducted. They claim that his illegal betting
on baseball games should keep him out of the Hall of Fame.
Almost all of the highly questionable evidence that Commissioner Bart Giamatti held was
derived from former friends and associates of Rose. Up to $30,000 per day , so some of Roses
close friends say. These former friends of Rose are Tommy Gioiosa, Donald Stenger, Mike Fry,
and Paul Janszen. This evidence is what prompted the banishment from baseball of Pete Rose,
which he signed. The evidence was enough for the Commissioner. In 1989, baseball s
Commissioner Bart Giammati suspended Pete Rose from association with professional baseball
for life for gambling. Rose also spent five months in a minimum security prison for tax evasion in
1990. He did not report cash money he accepted for signing baseballs and photographs at baseball
card shows. It is still to this day not proven that Rose did bet on the baseball team that he was
managing. Rose himself still holds true to his statement that he never bet on the game of baseball.
Evidence is minimal and it has been over ten years, yet he is still ineligible to be voted into

Similarities Between Dracula And Wide Sargasso Sea
Dracula by Bram Stoker and Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys published in 1897 and 1966
respectively, both echo public and private societal expectations of women at the time. Stoker s
novel was written during the birth of first wave feminism, a period where women were beginning
to be seen as more than sexual objects for male pleasure. Women campaigned for female agency
which resulted in the birth of the new woman . Similarly, Rhys novel focuses on the discrimination
faced as a Creole woman suffering from mental illness. Thus, the ways in which both authors
convey significant themes such as racism, genderdisparity and social class can be compared in
further detail. Initially, the titles of both novels also provide a strong grounding to understanding
the status of women at the time. Rhys novel refers to the Sargasso Sea, located in the Atlantic
Ocean. This is known for the infamous Bermuda Triangle, described as an oceanic black hole where
ships disappear under mysterious circumstances. One interpretation of this title could imply that
characters may be imprisoned in their personal Bermuda Triangle , where Antoinette grapples with
her racial identity as a white Creole. Furthermore, the Sargassum is a weed native to the Sargasso
Sea, which was symbolic of neglect, devastation, and disorder. [1] This echoes the sentiments of the
protagonist of the novella, Antoinette. Antoinette embodies the inherent misogyny prevalent during
the 20th Century, where women were often reduced

I want to add a bigger variety of vegetables such as spinach, artichoke, squash, and kale. Just eat
more whole fruit, drink water and I think there will be an increase in my health.
How might insufficient amount of proteins, carbohydrates, fats and fiber contribute to health
illness? They are alike because our body needs all of them. All of them provide a different
benefit to the body. But if we consume too much then there are negative effects. Protein is very
important to the body and it is irreplaceable. A higher intake of water is needed when you have
an excess of protein. Also a high intake level can lead to kidney problems. Issue arises when the
body doesn t get enough protein, your growth is then impaired and the body must find other
ways to survive. A high intake of lipids leads to high cholesterol, which may lead to other heart
problems. Some lipids contribute to energy, which has a connection to metabolism. Lipids can be
found in liquids that remain liquid at room temperature and solid and room temperature. It is said
that lipids provide way more energy than carbohydrates. A diet low in carbohydrates decreases
energy level and weakens performance and endurance. Low carbohydrates can cause obesity, high
sugar level, and diabetes. Fibers can be one of the most productive sources for the body because it
keeps things moving. Eating more portions that is recommended can lead to weight gain, obesity,

In 2010, a man sued the New York Mets after being hit in the face by a broken bat leaving him
with multiple fractures (White). Because of the many injuries occurring from broken bats,
MLB has made an effort to make bats safer for everyone. Specific regulations created for bats
used in today s games have led to a steady drop in the number of broken bats (Roberts). As of
2013, the rate has lowered to an average of 0.46 bats broken per game (White). The skill level
needed to successfully hit off the different materials remains another argument between metal
versus wood bats. Metal bats have been proven to require less skill to hit with because of their
weight difference and the size of their sweet spots compared to wooden bats. With most metal
bats being made of aluminum, they weigh in much lighter than bats made of solid wood. It is
much easier for players to swing the aluminum bats due to that fact ( Baseball: Wooden Bats Vs.
Metal Bats ). The lighter weight allows players to swing faster, which helps put more force on
the ball, resulting in the ball flying farther and much faster. In a test comparing wood bats to
multiple types of metal bats, balls batted off wood bats obtained an average speed of 98.6 mph,
while balls hit with the different types of metal bats obtained speeds between 100.3 mph and 106.5
mph (Russell). These results show that the lighter weight of the metal bats, helps drive the ball

Pre and Post Reconstruction Period Politics, Economic and Social Effects
This research paper is intended to explain in general terms some of the political, economics and
social effects America dealt with during the Pre and Post Reconstruction Period.
During the last years of the Civil War, as Union forces moved closer to victory and millions of
former slaves became free, Americans began to think about how to reconcile the splintered parts
of the nation and were immediately faced with a series of complex questions that required some
resolutions. Some issues raised were: a) How would the former states of the Confederacy be
integrated back ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These measures represented a substantial departure from the system of the old South; yet few
reforming politicians were not able to go as far and to have as much effect as they intended. In
addition, white Southern Republicans, who outnumbered their black colleagues, gave only window
dressing like support to black civil rights, preferring to court Southern Democrats through
moderation on racial issues (Forner 364 411). Although, the Radical Reconstruction efforts were
intended to redirect the southern economy, to provide for social mobility and to halt the return to
the old plantation system. Ultimately, however, these policies intensified the South s dependence
on cotton as a cash crop and solidified the class divisions in southern society. Condemning Andrew
Johnson and early presidential Reconstruction, Radical Republicans hoped to reshape the South into
a land of industry and diversified agriculture. To these ends, Republicans poured massive amounts
of money into the South to build railways, create infrastructure and develop improved cultivation
methods. Ironically, these improvements bolstered the strength of the plantation system and
swelled the ranks of the economically exploited lower classes. Railways allowed for the extension
of cotton plantations into the upcountry and further west, onto lands occupied by subsistence
farmers. Furthermore, new technology and the increasing efficiency

Child Soldiers In Uganda Essay
Child Soldiers in Uganda Report The country of Uganda is a very dangerous place where many
civilians are killed daily and children are abducted and taken as child soldiers. There are many
groups that rebel against the Ugandan government one that is very well known is The Lord s
Resistance Army. The Lord s Resistance group of rebels in Uganda that claimed that the holy
spirit has ordered them to overthrow the ugandan government. The most recent known leader of
this group goes by the name of Joseph Kony. Kony has kidnapped over 30,000 children to
strengthen his army, forcing the boys to become soldiers and the girls to become sex slaves. This
group capture those who can be useful to them, including children strong enough to carry weapons.
The captives are tied together and marched to camps where they are violently indoctrinated and
turned into soldiers, cooks, or sex slaves. Captives are often forced to... Show more content on

One of the many terrible things this rebel group does is kidnap children at a young age and force
them to work as child soldiers. This takes away their dreams and forces them to live a terrible
life, which will probably lead to an early death. .A child soldier who had experienced the wrath
of this army goes by the name of Michel Chikwanine. Michel is a man who was kidnapped by
these fighters when he was only 5 years old. The rebels took him and his friends from a soccer
field they were playing at. Once they arrived at the camp a fighter drugged Michel with a mix of
cocaine and gunpowder while he was blindfolded. He was then given a gun and was forced to kill
his best friend as initiation to enter the army, this left Michel traumatized. After this incident Michel
spent weeks at the camp going through harsh training with weapons and terrible treatment from the
rebels. Michel finally escaped the horror and made it back to his family with the help of some

Mass Killers
Yet again, a connection has been made just as with the types and traits of mass murders/murderers.
Many mass killers fall into more than one category on how they establish their motives. Again,
scientists, therapists, and psychologists have established that there is a psychological map in
connection to a mass murderer s motive. In Aurora, Colorado, James Holmes, at the age of twenty
four, went into a movie theatre, while it was playing The Dark Knight Rises, and commenced
shooting into the audience. After killing a dozen people and injuring many more, citizens
throughout the country wanted to know what possibly could have been Holmes motive for such
mass eradication. Ultimately there are many categories for motives starting with revenge known...

Nevertheless, the most common method used to commit a mass murder known today is through the
use of firearms, like Michael Carneal, who was involved in killing many students at a high school
in 1997. There are many other methods that citizens have heard of being used which include
bombs, like in the Oklahoma Bombing committed by Timothy Mcvay; Poisoning like the Jim Jones
mass murder and the mass suicide he was involved in, as the religious leader of the People s
Temple; Biological/chemical attacks such as the anthrax letters in which the Federal Bureau of
Investigations said Bruce Ivans was the sole culprit; Knives/machetes which is what Elliot Roger
used to kill his three male housemates ; Vehicles which is what Priscilla Ford used in anger after
having her child removed from her care (Cosh). It boils down to not the motive of the mass
murderer, but the means. What they had easily and readily available to use during the time they
seek their revenge and endeavor to prove their point to the world. The least common and newest
method used, transpired on September 11th, 2001. The Islamic terrorist group, al Qaeda, assailed
the United States by hijacking four planes during the midst of their flight. They flew into the Twin
Towers, located in New York, causing the loss of many lives. Sometimes one fixates on the mass
murders done by an individual seeking revenge. The government has done their own mass murders
in many different countries, including the United States, for what they at the time ruled as
sanctioned in their governing body. Yes, citizens can vote on some form of punishment for different
individuals, but what are we to do when it is our own

Forced Child Prostitution
Forced child prostitution is all over the world. However I am talking specifically about human
trafficking overseas. This is one of the most known places for Child Prostitution. Children are
being snatched and forced to do drugs and sell their bodies to make money for the pimp s. This
is an issue to our country because our children are being kidnapped. We really can t do much
here because they are extremely hard to find. When you re running a business like this you have
to make sure you never get caught because if they find you, there will be hell to pay. The least
penalty there is for forced child prostitution is life in prison. Keep reading as I start to unravel
different facts you may or may not have known about forced child prostitution in Europe. Human
traffickingis the trade in humans, most commonly for the purpose of sexual slavery, forced labor or
commercial sexual exploitation for the trafficker or others, or for the extraction of organs or
tissues, including surrogacy and ova removal (Unknown, 2011). Children ages eleven to eighteen
are usually the ones taken into forced child prostitution. In some countries they are younger than
that. These children are kidnapped from all over the world and sold to pimps to make them work
for them. In some places they don t want the children to be older than eighteen. If they are older
they are usually killed on their nineteenth birthday.

The New York Times For Being By Mary Oliver
Acknowledged by The New York Times for being this country s best selling poet Mary Oliver
was born in Maple Heights, Ohio. Publishing her first book of poetry, No Voyage and Other
Poetry, in 1963 at the age of 28 she was able to begin her lustrous career which continued as she
published several more series, one of them being the Pulitzer Prize winner, American Primitive.
Critic Alicia Ostriker numbered Oliver among America s finest poets, as visionary as Ralph
Waldo Emerson. As a youth Mary Oliver did not have the ideal childhood most kids desire for.
With an abusive father and an absent mother, Mary began to idolize different female poets like
Edna St. Vincent Millay. This lead Oliver to develop a love for poetry. As time passed, Oliver
began to form a bond with nature as a coping method to escape her father s brutality which
eventually let her to forgive her parents for stealing her childhood from her. Soon Mary was able
to transform her unhealthy emotions into love and passion for nature in her writing as she is
known for her poignant observation and evocative use of the natural world in her poems.
Through the her poems, Oliver really is able to connect with the readers with her descriptive
writing . Poet Vicki Graham explains that over and over the speaker of Oliver s poems reminds
herself to look, to touch, to see, and to smell. Only by yielding to her senses can she get close to
the real [the quote is from Vicki Graham, Into the Body of Another : Mary

Gender Countertype In The Media
A stereotype is typically a negative assumption on an individual or social group. They are often
magnified opinions held by a range of people on teenagers, genders, belief and race. The binary
opposite to stereotypes are countertypes , an example of a countertype is that all young female girls
are pleasant and beautiful.
The media has always taught us that women belong in the kitchen, women can t handle a day s
work and that we live in a man s world because we as women, are weak, emotional house wives.
On the other hand, we are taught that men are the brave, stoical, hard working money makers.
Thankfully, due to many equality protests and the suffragette movement there has been a rise in
feminism and women support. Feminism is the process in which women s rights are influenced to
the public to make decisions on the equality of both males and females. The people who support
feminism are known as feminists. Jane Bailey wrote about women on stereotypes within social
media and explains how it is a platform for women to freely express themselves.
Gender stereotyping used to happen more often in the media than it does nowadays, this is for the
reason that in today s society is frowned upon and seen as inappropriate by a mass audience.
Advertising and magazines are a huge impact on people worldwide, so an advertisement featuring a
half naked woman with the headline Are you beach body ready? (2015) would cause an uproar for
many reasons. One of the reasons being that the

Understanding Of Language And Consciousness
1.3 Connectionist understanding of language and consciousness One cognitive attempt to solve the
question is, perhaps, connectionism (e.g., Rumelhart McClelland, 1986) on the basis of pan
psychism view of consciousness (Chalmers). The Connectionist model is the idea that humans
learn language via gradual inter networked association of neural units to understand and produce
language. That is, human linguistic expression is possible because of the presence of various
networks of neural associations. In this framework, the meanings and knowledge in the linguistic
input are distributed across various neurons and the joint connection of each unit of neurons thus
yields into linguistic output. For example, a sentence such as Alex is a dog is stored as a set of
weights across many units, and these are sensitive to semantic content rather than the physical
symbols. Dog might be a pattern across networks of units which represent color, size, sound and
eating habits and so on. Then, a network which stores dog as a distributed pattern of color and size
features could find one set of weights which can represent other animals as well (McClelland,
Rumelhart, 1986). If this model is plausible, we could ascribe meaning and knowledge in the
linguistic input for artificial intelligencethe same way that humans learn language.
In order to attribute intentionality to artificial intelligence, one must determine whether such
intentionality can be phenomenally conscious, insofar

Laminar Flow and Convective Heat Transfer of Water-Alumina...
Laminar flow and convective heat transfer of water/alumina nanofluid inside horizontal annuli with
a streamwise moving inner cylinder are investigated theoretically. Employed model for alumina
/water nanofluid is the modified two component four equation non homogeneous equilibrium model
that fully accounts for the effects of nanoparticles volume fraction distribution. Aiming to consider
the effects of thermal boundary conditions on nanoparticles migration, two cases including constant
heatflux at the outer wall and insulated inner wall (Case A) and constant heat flux at the inner wall
with insulated outer wall (Case B) have been considered. The numerical results obtained indicated
that the thermal boundary conditions at the pipe walls are significantly affecting the nanoparticle
volume fraction distribution particularly in the cases where the ratio of Brownian motion to
thermophoretic diffusivities is small. Moreover, increasing the velocity of the moving inner
cylinder reduce the heat transferrate for case A. In this case nanoparticles migration has negative
effects on the performance of the heat transfer system as it decreases the heat transfer rate. In
contrast, in case B, movement of the inner cylinder enhance the heat transfer rate and anomalous
heat transfer enhancement take place when the thermophoretic force is dominant (larger
nanoparticles).
Nanoparticles volume fraction distribution developed under the mutual effects of thermophoretic
and Brownian motion forces.

Stanley George Miller Analysis
The visual cues, color, form depth, and movement are all displayed within the graphical painting
by Stanley George Miller. When looking at the painting you see the different color schemes. You
have the black and white with the blues and greys and also the red, yellow content. When
describing the objective colorwithin the painting, these colors can also project a mood on the
observer. The dark colors such as the women in the red dress with a black background portray
darkness also the women with the draping cloth covering her head and facial demeanor showing a
sense of the deep thought. As you move to the center of the painting you see the contrast of lightand
dark and the bright colors around the dark image. As you move to the right of the painting the
blues and greys lighten your mood of the objects being displayed. Also, you see the ocean waves
and the blue sky with two people embracing one another.

The painting displays diagonal, gestural, and directional lines; repetition; and placement of objects
to give it an illusion of motion (Lamp,n.d., para 12). If you take a look at the women and man
embracing one another is a gestural movement of an action among the two objects. The cloud and
the funnel coming from the women hair is a diagonal line of movement. The waves hitting and
crashing into the land and then going back out to the sea gives you directional and repetition of
these objects.
This painting intrigues me because I was trying to see what the artist was trying to convey to the
viewer. This style of art is part of the new the age of information and the Art Noveau and pop art
of the later part of the 20th century (Mousestudios, n.d). The images of the people on the canvas

Kubrick s Use Of Satire In Dr. Strangelove
In 1964 with the cold war and Cuban missile crisis still fresh in the minds of many, Stanley

Kubrick dared to make a movie about what would happen if the wrong person presses the wrong

Compare And Contrast Evolution And Creationism
Evolutionism vs. Creationism
Group K Special Topics Assignment # 3
Evolution refers to descent with modification and how populations of organisms change overtime.
The idea was first popularized by Charles Darwin, but had been a theory before his time as well. In
order for evolution to take place, the mechanisms must make very slow changes to organisms that
happen over time. Most evolutionists believe that the earth was created over a long period of time
and is about 5 billion years old. This enables many changes over slow periods of time to occur just
as the theory of evolution suggests. Through natural selection, adaptations are created that benefit
the survival of a species. These adaptations, which factor into natural selection, can only be
achieved through mutations that can be carried on to offspring. Scientists attempt to prove the
theory of evolution through fossil evidence, scientific records, and through ... Show more content on

Each individual has his or her own ideas and thoughts that may not correspond exactly to the main
ideas within evolution or creationism. Both creationism and evolutionism are present in many
cultures and religious affiliations. A very popular belief among modern individuals is that the
ideas of both evolution and creationism are where our origins arise. One of the more admired
forms of this idea is that god created the earth and life on earth from matter, but some higher power
is also the mechanism of evolution and that god intervenes in actions on earth by deciding the fate
of certain species (god creates mutations). This belief is known by most as theistic evolution. There
are various other theories present in both the religious and scientific community that try to connect
the ideas of evolution with biblical texts and ideas. The debate behind evolution vs. creationism is
all about people trying to figure out the origin of life and where everything came to

President Hoover Failure
The Great Depression was an abrupt decline in the supply and demand of goods and services along
with a meteoric rise in unemployment. President Herbert Hoover thought there should not be too
much government intervention and the crisis would balance itself out after a while, but that was
not the case. His attempts to aid the Great Depressionwere not as successful as hoped and did not
gain him much popularity while he ran again for a second term as president. In 1932, Franklin
Roosevelt won the presidential election by a landslide against President Hoover. President
Roosevelt created policies and programs that later collectively became known as the New Deal.

daughter to get married known as a dowry. If a girl was born therefore they were usually drowned
or aborted in the most inhumane methods. The after affects of this were that 30 40 years later the
country was full of men. This led to the increase in homosexuality and prostitution, which therefore
led to the increase in sexually transmitted diseases.
Children were left in the doorways of wealthy people s homes or orphanages. Girls were often
sold to pimps as young as 12 and the parents then reaped the rewards. They would send their

Outsourcing Of The National Labor Committee Thinks Otherwise
American companies and their products, have increasingly been pursed to be manufactured abroad.
This however is one of the biggest discrepancies we confront within our economy. Although many
businesses argue this is beneficial in order for them to turn a higher profit and be successful, the
National Labor Committee thinks otherwise. Outsourcinghas become one of the leading factors in
product recalls, exploitation of workers, and a major contributor to the unemployment statistics in
the US. Although outsourcing is a contributor to mass production and a products supply and demand
growth, it has also been known for some of the largest product recalls. In the largest product recall
in China in 2008, the baby formula of Sanlu (the largest company in the industry by volume was
found to contain melamine originated from contaminated milk supply outsourced to local farmers.
(Lu, Ng, Tao, 2012, p. 2). Lu, Ng, Tao simplify the term outsourcing by expressing how
Outsourcing involves contracting with external suppliers for the delivery of parts and components
with pre specified quality levels. (Lu, Ng, Tao, 2012, p. 2). This is a clear indication that product
quality is never fully tested when outsourcing. Quality controllers are given a general guideline to

important than a products quality and reputation. It would be ethically unfair to a consumer to save

  • 3. The Environmental Degradation Of Pakistan Abstract One of the major challenges facing today is to meet the demands of increasing population and to reduce the environmental degradation caused by over population and industrialization. Increasing environmental degradation is damaging the productivity of agriculture lands. The factors affecting the productivity include soil erosion, salinization, water logging, and desertification. These factors cause low crop yields and deterioration of environment. In this paper we will identifies the factors limiting crop yields in Pakistan and suggest suitable technologies to realize sustainable crop yields, while improving the environmental conditions. Introduction Land degradation is a process in which the value of the biophysical environment is affected by a combination of human induced processes acting upon the land. Pakistan is a arid to semi arid country. The natural resource base of land, water and vegetation in arid and semi arid areas is highly fragile and extremely vulnerable to degradation. The total geographical area of Pakistan is 79.6 mha out of which 34.44% is arable. The population of Pakistan is over 180 million and it is increasing at the rate of 2.6% per annum (Zia et al., 2003). This can lead to over exploitation of natural resources, including soil. Other factors are also contributing to land degradation. For example good agricultural land for crop production is shrinking as a result of fragmentation, rapid converting of productive agricultural land into ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Myths Are Stories That Express Meaning, Morality Or... Myths are stories that express meaning, morality or motivation. Whether they are true or not is irrelevant. This was quoted by writer Michael Shermer, and it still holds today. This quote displays that myths have the power to take the reader away from reality and launch them into a world of mystery and phenomena. Also, even if myths have different stories and different characters, they all in some way portray regular societal values. For example, The Fisherman and The Jinnee , Sifrit , and Song of Roland all tell divergent stories with very diverse characters. But by the end, they all portray the values of righteousness and how one man, or herocan rescue an entire society. A myth is an image of terms in which we try to make ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They eventually race in the woods to get drinks and when it is not suspicious, Hagen stabs Sifrit in the weak spot with a lance. Gunther kills Hagen immediately after. Once Chriemhilde hears of what happened, she begins to kill most of those who were involved with his murder. However, she eventually gets killed by the Huns. In Roland, the main hero Rollanz is a powerful, courageous, and determined hero who is protected by ruler Charlemagne. In the 7 year war, he had to influence an army through an ambush by himself. As the warrior he is, he fights the battle rather than calling in reinforcements. However, this lead to the tragic death of his comrade Olivier, and most of his soldiers. Towards the end, he blew the oil paint which hollered for help to aid the rest of his people. This decision lead to his death, which makes him a martyr. Roland is similar to the myths of Sundiata and Fisherman and the Jinnee because of their actions and decision making made them heroes in their respective myths. Each of these myths have a hero either protecting their loved ones, or saving their loved ones from danger. In Sundiata, the griot is illustrated as brave, due to his willingness to slay enemies left and right, while disregarding his own safety in battle, much like Rollanz. However, in the Fisherman and the Jinnee, the main fisherman does not use violence but instead he uses his genius intellect to take himself out of tough situations. This shows that these ... • 5. The Black Arts Movement And The Civil Rights Movement The twentieth century was one of the most active periods of social movements, along with the Civil Rights campaigns of the 1960s was the Antiwar Movement, where most Americans were in opposition with the government on the U.S. involvement in the Vietnam war. Domestically, social and economic conditions gave voice to the people to embark on a revolution for change. For African Americans the struggle for equality had been going on for decades. But the movement went to a new level after the death of Emmitt Till in August 1955, a 14 year old black boy murdered and disfigured by white men in Mississippi for allegedly flirting with a white woman, and the arrest of Rosa Parks December 1955, who refused to give up her seat in the colored section of the bus to a white passenger. The beginning of the Feminist Movement in 1963 women began to fight for respect and equality socially and economically. The Black Arts Movement which was the cultural wing of the Black Power Movement began to play out on college campuses. The 1970s remained tied to the social experiments and struggles of the 1960s. African Americans were still fighting for education equality around the country. But signs emerged of another change. January 23, 1973 President Richard Nixon announces the end of U.S. involvement in the Vietnam war. The Civil Rights Movement and the Women s Movement accomplished many of their goals. The U.S. suffered an economic recession, interest rates and inflation were high. Music ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Why the Spanish Armada Invaded Britain and Lost Essay Spanish Armada Essay In this essay I am going to look at why the Spanish armada wanted to invade Britain and why they failed to do so, was it down to luck or were the British too smart for the Spanish. And was it all England s glory? The Spanish wanted to invade England was mainly to turn England back into a catholic country, and to get Queen Elizabeth of the throne and to get a queen who was for the catholic monarch on the throne. However there are many other reasons: Firstly Philip II couldn?t accept that was not the king of England, as he was married to Queen Mary I, who was the Queen before Elizabeth. Secondly, when Philip proposed to Elizabeth she turned him down. Another reason is Elizabeth wouldn?t stop the privateers from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also, before Philip sent the ships out Admiral Sanata Cruz, Spain?s best sailor, died and Philip replaced him with the Duke of Medina Sidonia, who suffered from seasickness and did not really want to do the job. Was this a good idea? And should the Spanish of waited to find a new leader who wanted to do the job? During the sail up to England the Armada were told to keep a crescent formation no matter what happened this was the golden rule. The idea of this was so if an English ship was to come in from behind they could scoop it up like a net. The formation was that the stronger ships would go at the front so they could easily surround any English ships that threatened the centre. This was the plan, however it did not all go that way! Lord Howard, commander of the English fleet, used some of the lighter and faster English ships to ?pick off? some of the stragglers (ones that were lagging behind) whilst they were sailing up the English channel. Unfortunately this did not really affect the crescent shape. Next came arguably one of the smartest moves in the battle, on 7th August Sir Francis Drake sent out a number of old ships that had been set on fire, the Spanish were petrified, they were not sure if the Ships had explosives on it, if they did so did the Spanish ships and the chances of them setting on fire was very high. This came as a complete surprise to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If you do not believe me that if the government ban assault rifles that people could still get them then just look at drugs they are illegal but people are still able to buy them and use them. One of the antigun side arguments is that we should out outlaw all assault rifles because they are automatic therefore they are too dangerous and could end up in the wrong hands. Pro gun side say that if we start banning all assault rifles when does it stop next we will be banning pistols because they are automatic. The pro gun side is using the slippery slope agreement stating that by banning one set of guns will eventually ban all guns. The antigun side making a benefits argument stating that if these guns were banned they could not end up in the wrong and less massacres would happen. The pro gun side argues that the second amendment states that we have the right to bear arms. That if we were to ban guns that we would infringe our rights. The antigun gun side claims that by having limiting guns will not infringe on anyone s right that it will only make our lives safer. They also say that assault rifles do not belong in civilian hands, that they belong only on the battlefields. These two arguments go back and forth all the time. Jarrahi 3 In my opinion, Human nature is something that everyone talks about but no one can define precisely. Our thoughts, feelings, and behavior are produced not only by our individual experiences and environment in our own lifetime but also by what happened to our ancestors years ago. Also, our thoughts, feelings, and behavior are shared, to a large extent, by all men or women, despite seemingly large cultural differences which causes hate, fights, and wars. In King Lear, he is treated very horrible by his two daughters Goneril and Regan. They both neglect him and plot his death, which shows how human nature works. The more power and money you have, the more you want, greed takes over. For two daughters to plot their fathers death is brutal, I pray you, father, being weak, seem so (2.4.196). The poem has been viewed as nihilistic and immoral. Actually there is plenty present in the first canto to show morality and hope for humanity. The poem should be viewed as the author intended: a satire on abuses of the present state of Society, an not an eulogy on vice... (Bostetter 9). Don Juan is a satire and therefore the morals present are shown in an ironic way. If fact, he wrote in such an obvious ironic fashion that it is hard to imagine the message was lost on many. His ironic theme is based on what people think and what they actually do. In effect... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Byron pokes fun at the hypocritical nature of people. An overabundant curiosity in other s affairs is certainly looked down upon yet it is rampant among people. Thus within in one sentence Byron points this idea out; people say one thing yet do another. This problem is central to what Byron sees as wrong with society, the basic hypocritical nature of people. There is truth to his thinking and by directing the reader to notice this, he can be said to be wanting to change that. Change usually does not occur until the fault is presented outright. Indeed, one form taken by the philosophic irony underlying the first canto suggests that cant and hypocrisy may endanger the very continuity of civilized tradition (Bostetter 22). The narrator, using his particular talent in prying in people s affairs feels fit to speak of Juan s upbringing. Instead of quarreling, had they been but both in,/ Their senses, they d have sent young master forth/ To school, or had him soundly whipp d at home,/ To teach him manners for the time to come (Byron 197 200). This presents a sort of paradox the reader may find it immoral for the narrator to judge Juan s parents and yet without this view Juan s later episodes would have less meaning behind them; for we would not know the reasons behind his behavior. Perhaps we would find the narrator s opinion of Juan s parents biased. Therefore we are told more of their immoral behavior. They lived an unhappy sort of life,/ Wishing each other, ... His life has been a whirlwind up until this point. His best friend died, he doesn t know where he is, and he barely can remember his life before he was thrown into the horrid maze that changed him forever. So far, Thomas has lost his girl Teresa and wondered the Scorched plains of what used to be the Earth. And yourselves, of course (Dashner 55). As the man said, they will have to endure the Variables that WICKED could change and any minute. For example, the boys ran into some inclement weather while traveling the arid plains of the Scorch. This storm, consisting of lighting and sand, ultimately ended in the demise of Winston, a good friend of Thomas, and left the once been Gladers broken and defeated. Love. It s a very obscure concept to some, yet a very material necessity to others. The search for love has gone above and beyond what we would call normal in this book. Thomas, being that he evidently had a childhood with Teresa, has fallen in love with her. Her ominous disappearance and resurgence early within the book lead the reader to believe WICKED is attempting to pry into Thomas mental stability. As the story progresses, Thomas and the boys reach the Cranks, as previously stated, they meet their leader Jorge and his fairly attractive assistant Brenda. Brenda immediately falls for Thomas. Contextual Interpretation Of Religion In Shakespeare s Hamlet Contextual Interpretations Of Religion In Shakespeare s Hamlet At the time of Shakespeare s writing The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark (hereby referred to as Hamlet), the two most commonly practiced denominations of Christianity in Europe were Catholicism and Protestantism. Within the play itself, Shakespeare references the traditions and ideas of both religions freely, creating cause for debate among modern scholars as to what part, if any, religious context plays in Hamlet. The influence of both religions is evident; however, as Shakespeare mixes the two, difficulties arise in finding a clear interpretation of the opposing religious contexts. During this time period, Denmark was considered a Protestant (and more specifically, Lutheran) nation. It has never been made clear whether or not Shakespeare intended to mirror the true to life Denmark in his work, but the references can be easily inferred. One of the most important pieces of evidence related to Protestantism in Hamlet is in reference to the University of Wittenberg, which Hamlet, Horatio, Rosencrantz, and Guildenstern attend during the course of the work. Wittenberg, the city in which their university is located, is widely known as the birthplace of Protestantism and was made famous in part by Martin Luther s Protestant Reformation and the nailing of the 95 Theses to the door of the All Saints Church. The university itself also has significant ties to Protestantism; Martin Luther himself was a professor at the University of Wittenberg and it was during his tenure as Wittenberg s Doctor of Bible that Luther conceived of his famous 95 Theses. In addition, the University of Wittenberg served as a center of the Protestant Reformation movement in Europe. Therefore, it can be inferred that during their time at the university, Hamlet and his acquaintances would likely have been very heavily exposed to and quite possibly even expected to serve the Protestant ... • 14. Analysis Of The Poem Ode Of A Nightingale By John Keats Alaysia Murphy ENG 134 04 Prof. Palmioli 11/3/15 Explication for Ode to a Nightingale Literature often reflects real life. The world of imagination is a euphoric release from the world of actuality but paradoxically this world of imagination makes the world of actuality even more painful than what it is. Human life is often full of conflicts for example, the interconnection or mixture of pain/joy, intensity of feeling/numbness or lack of feeling, life/death, the actual/the ideal, and separation/connection. In the poem Ode to a Nightingale written by John Keats, the poet seems to be praising the nightingale for its melodious tune but upon further investigation it is revealed that he is actually using the nightingale and its song as a means of escaping the realities of human life. This poem is about the intense feelings the poet has about the transience about the nature of reality. Keats discovers the creativity of human life and the morality throughout the poem. The poet is in search of the pure joy and ecstasy sung in the nightingale s song which is completely unaware of the anguish and suffering of reality. The poet believes that if he lives a life similar to that of the nightingale that he will be removed from all pain and anguish. As the poem progresses the poet ponders different ways of joining the nightingale and what he considers paradise. He comes to the conclusion that he cannot escape the realities of the human world. Keats probably wrote this poem when he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Literary Analysis Of Home Burial By Robert Frost Terri Adams Kimbrell Logan M. Oliver ENGL 1312 24 September 2017 Home Burial Robert Frost s poem Home Burial speaks of the tragedies in a couple s life. The theme of Home Burial is centered at the death of couple s child. It seems that men did not express their feelings well during this time. Home Burial demonstrates how one life tragedy can cause another to tragedy because of emotions that are uncontrollable. The man and woman in this poem has lost their baby to due to death. The mother is grieving and it seems she doesn t recover from this loss; parents who lose a child never forget, but most people do find ways to cope and move on in life. The baby is buried in the family burial site and can be seen from a window in the couple s home. Every day the mother goes to the window looking at the family plot. Watching the place where her child s body is buried continues the sadness she feels. But, another emotion is contained in this wife and mother and that is anger and resentment at her husband. At first, the reason for her anger seems unknown. The reasoning starts to show when it says she refused him any help, with the least stiffening of her neck and silence. (lines13 14) Their dialogue is cold. What is it what? /Just that I see. / You don t, she challenged. /Tell me what it is. (lines18 19). In the husband s first couple of lines and his last one, his attitude toward his wife seems insensitive. First he tells her he wants to know why she keeps looking at through the window; then he tells her she must tell him. Even though he ends the last part with dear , doesn t make it feel any less of a demand to the wife and at the end of the poem, he ask, Where do you mean to go? First tell me that. / I ll follow and bring you back by force. I will! (115). In between his words he seems to attempt to learn how to talk with his wife, and he ask her to help him, but she has resentment in her way. It seems that the husband is stressed and anxious. The wife, on the other hand, is going through a hard time emotionally and she needs support and compassion and is not getting these needs from her husband. She became strong through all of the events that happened to her. Sacagawea, the only woman on the Lewis and Clark expedition, survived because of events that happened to her at a young age and because of her good interpreting skills. Ameera Jafrey Professor Syvates ENST 150 September 22, 2014 A Look into Some Causes, Effects, and Possible Solutions of Deforestation in the Global Environment I.Introduction With society s demand and need for the earth s resources, deforestation has long been a prevalent environmental issue at hand and has picked up significant momentum more recently. Deforestation occurs around the world, however, according to GRID Arendal, it is most prevalent in areas with tropical rainforests such as Brazil, Indonesia, Thailand, the Democratic Republic of Congo and other parts of Africa, and parts of Eastern Europe (Szalay 1). For a number of reasons, trees are being cleared at massive levels resulting in poor quality land and have created negative effects and impacts on the global environment. Since deforestation is caused by both human and natural factors such as wildfires and overgrazing, it is difficult to completely pinpoint one cause ( Deforestation 1). However, researching and looking at which causes are most impactful can help deduce possible solutions to help prevent unnecessary and excessive tree clearing. It is important to look into solutions to help prevent deforestation because it is negatively impacting the world s environment and making it difficult for certain animals, such as birds, and even humans to maintain their standard of living and their quality of life. And so, in an attempt to delve a bit deeper with regards to deforestation, this paper will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The extinction of dinosaurs is a mystery in itself that has stumped scientists all over the world for decades, and they still look for new answers every day. Scientists know some background information, but cannot connect the dots to see the bigger picture. There was little interest in the topic until Luis and Walter Alvarez proposed a groundbreaking hypothesis, which today we call the Alvarez Hypothesis . This new idea of the Alvarez s was exciting, and therefore got the media talking about it, which in turn started the search of how the dinosaurs went extinct. Another popular theory of how dinosaurs went extinct is the Volcanism Theory. Scientists have recently found new evidence supporting both sides of this debate. Although many dinosaur extinction theories exist, only the Alvarez Hypothesis is correct. Scientists abase their extinction theories off one of commonly known piece of information: that there was a change in climate around the time of the K T boundary. Both major theories support this idea, and both believe that something blocked out the Sun for many months. This stopped the photosynthesis in plants, the base of the food chain. Without plants, the food chain was majorly affected. A domino effect happened, and one species died out after another. Eventually all species of dinosaurs died out. Scientists know that there was a global climatic change, but are not sure how it happened. The topic of the K T Extinction received little ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. Gene Expression And Its Engineering Introduction Transformation is the process of allowing a cell to be able to accept a gene into itself and allow the gene to become part of the cell s whole, thus changing its form and expressing the gene s function. This process was first discovered by the British bacteriologist Frederick Griffith, who was able to transform Streptococcus pneumoniae into a different strain of Strep. in 1928 (1928). This discovery was pivotal in the way we understand geneexpression and its engineering. An example of genetic engineering using transformation that applies to everyday life is the synthesizing of human insulin, which is a peptide hormone that helps to regulate the amount of sugar that runs through the bloodstream. In the early 1900s, insulin from other animals was used to treat diabetes, but human insulin is now able to be easily produced in bulk through genetic engineering, and has largely replaced animal insulin for the treatment of diabetes. Insulin is made from cells in the pancreas, and the extraction of insulin from animals used to require taking it directly from the animal s pancreas glands. It was not until 1977 that synthetic human insulin was genetically engineered by Arthur Riggs and Keiichi Itakura, and was achieved by the process of transformation using Escherichia colias a host (1977), which allowed for the easy reproduction of human insulin. Using this method, the production of human insulin became large scale, faster, cheaper, and more accessible. A weakened ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mirror sites likewise expand the pace with which files or websites can be gotten to, clients can download documents all the more rapidly from a server that is topographically closer to them. For instance, if an occupied New York based Web webpage sets up a mirror website in England, clients in Europe can get to the mirror website quicker than the original site in New York. Sites, for example, Netscape that offer duplicates or upgrades of famous programming regularly set up mirror sites to handle the expansive request that a solitary site will most likely be unable to handle. Pete Rose was a player that I looked up to when I was a young boy playing baseball. I was a big fan of his collecting all of his baseball cards from rookie year up to the present time. Now, most of the baseballcritics and others do not want Pete Rose inducted. They claim that his illegal betting on baseball games should keep him out of the Hall of Fame. Almost all of the highly questionable evidence that Commissioner Bart Giamatti held was derived from former friends and associates of Rose. Up to $30,000 per day , so some of Roses close friends say. These former friends of Rose are Tommy Gioiosa, Donald Stenger, Mike Fry, and Paul Janszen. This evidence is what prompted the banishment from baseball of Pete Rose, which he signed. The evidence was enough for the Commissioner. In 1989, baseball s Commissioner Bart Giammati suspended Pete Rose from association with professional baseball for life for gambling. Rose also spent five months in a minimum security prison for tax evasion in 1990. He did not report cash money he accepted for signing baseballs and photographs at baseball card shows. • 32. Similarities Between Dracula And Wide Sargasso Sea Dracula by Bram Stoker and Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys published in 1897 and 1966 respectively, both echo public and private societal expectations of women at the time. Stoker s novel was written during the birth of first wave feminism, a period where women were beginning to be seen as more than sexual objects for male pleasure. Women campaigned for female agency which resulted in the birth of the new woman . Similarly, Rhys novel focuses on the discrimination faced as a Creole woman suffering from mental illness. Thus, the ways in which both authors convey significant themes such as racism, genderdisparity and social class can be compared in further detail. Initially, the titles of both novels also provide a strong grounding to understanding the status of women at the time. Rhys novel refers to the Sargasso Sea, located in the Atlantic Ocean. This is known for the infamous Bermuda Triangle, described as an oceanic black hole where ships disappear under mysterious circumstances. One interpretation of this title could imply that characters may be imprisoned in their personal Bermuda Triangle , where Antoinette grapples with her racial identity as a white Creole. Furthermore, the Sargassum is a weed native to the Sargasso Sea, which was symbolic of neglect, devastation, and disorder. [1] This echoes the sentiments of the protagonist of the novella, Antoinette. Antoinette embodies the inherent misogyny prevalent during the 20th Century, where women were often reduced ... Because of the many injuries occurring from broken bats, MLB has made an effort to make bats safer for everyone. Specific regulations created for bats used in today s games have led to a steady drop in the number of broken bats (Roberts). As of 2013, the rate has lowered to an average of 0.46 bats broken per game (White). The skill level needed to successfully hit off the different materials remains another argument between metal versus wood bats. Metal bats have been proven to require less skill to hit with because of their weight difference and the size of their sweet spots compared to wooden bats. With most metal bats being made of aluminum, they weigh in much lighter than bats made of solid wood. It is much easier for players to swing the aluminum bats due to that fact ( Baseball: Wooden Bats Vs. Metal Bats ). The lighter weight allows players to swing faster, which helps put more force on the ball, resulting in the ball flying farther and much faster. In a test comparing wood bats to multiple types of metal bats, balls batted off wood bats obtained an average speed of 98.6 mph, while balls hit with the different types of metal bats obtained speeds between 100.3 mph and 106.5 mph (Russell). Although, the Radical Reconstruction efforts were intended to redirect the southern economy, to provide for social mobility and to halt the return to the old plantation system. Ultimately, however, these policies intensified the South s dependence on cotton as a cash crop and solidified the class divisions in southern society. Condemning Andrew Johnson and early presidential Reconstruction, Radical Republicans hoped to reshape the South into a land of industry and diversified agriculture. To these ends, Republicans poured massive amounts of money into the South to build railways, create infrastructure and develop improved cultivation methods. Ironically, these improvements bolstered the strength of the plantation system and swelled the ranks of the economically exploited lower classes. They are often magnified opinions held by a range of people on teenagers, genders, belief and race. The binary opposite to stereotypes are countertypes , an example of a countertype is that all young female girls are pleasant and beautiful. The media has always taught us that women belong in the kitchen, women can t handle a day s work and that we live in a man s world because we as women, are weak, emotional house wives. On the other hand, we are taught that men are the brave, stoical, hard working money makers. Feminism is the process in which women s rights are influenced to the public to make decisions on the equality of both males and females. The people who support feminism are known as feminists. • 45. Understanding Of Language And Consciousness 1.3 Connectionist understanding of language and consciousness One cognitive attempt to solve the question is, perhaps, connectionism (e.g., Rumelhart McClelland, 1986) on the basis of pan psychism view of consciousness (Chalmers). The Connectionist model is the idea that humans learn language via gradual inter networked association of neural units to understand and produce language. That is, human linguistic expression is possible because of the presence of various networks of neural associations. In this framework, the meanings and knowledge in the linguistic input are distributed across various neurons and the joint connection of each unit of neurons thus yields into linguistic output. For example, a sentence such as Alex is a dog is stored as a set of weights across many units, and these are sensitive to semantic content rather than the physical symbols. Dog might be a pattern across networks of units which represent color, size, sound and eating habits and so on. Then, a network which stores dog as a distributed pattern of color and size features could find one set of weights which can represent other animals as well (McClelland, Rumelhart, 1986). If this model is plausible, we could ascribe meaning and knowledge in the linguistic input for artificial intelligencethe same way that humans learn language. In order to attribute intentionality to artificial intelligence, one must determine whether such intentionality can be phenomenally conscious, insofar ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Laminar flow and convective heat transfer of water/alumina nanofluid inside horizontal annuli with a streamwise moving inner cylinder are investigated theoretically. Employed model for alumina /water nanofluid is the modified two component four equation non homogeneous equilibrium model that fully accounts for the effects of nanoparticles volume fraction distribution. Aiming to consider the effects of thermal boundary conditions on nanoparticles migration, two cases including constant heatflux at the outer wall and insulated inner wall (Case A) and constant heat flux at the inner wall with insulated outer wall (Case B) have been considered. The numerical results obtained indicated that the thermal boundary conditions at the pipe walls are significantly affecting the nanoparticle volume fraction distribution particularly in the cases where the ratio of Brownian motion to thermophoretic diffusivities is small. Moreover, increasing the velocity of the moving inner cylinder reduce the heat transferrate for case A. In this case nanoparticles migration has negative effects on the performance of the heat transfer system as it decreases the heat transfer rate. In contrast, in case B, movement of the inner cylinder enhance the heat transfer rate and anomalous heat transfer enhancement take place when the thermophoretic force is dominant (larger nanoparticles). This style of art is part of the new the age of information and the Art Noveau and pop art of the later part of the 20th century (Mousestudios, n.d). • 50. Compare And Contrast Evolution And Creationism Evolutionism vs. Creationism Group K Special Topics Assignment # 3 Evolution refers to descent with modification and how populations of organisms change overtime. The idea was first popularized by Charles Darwin, but had been a theory before his time as well. In order for evolution to take place, the mechanisms must make very slow changes to organisms that happen over time. Most evolutionists believe that the earth was created over a long period of time and is about 5 billion years old. This enables many changes over slow periods of time to occur just as the theory of evolution suggests. Through natural selection, adaptations are created that benefit the survival of a species. These adaptations, which factor into natural selection, can only be achieved through mutations that can be carried on to offspring. Scientists attempt to prove the theory of evolution through fossil evidence, scientific records, and through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Each individual has his or her own ideas and thoughts that may not correspond exactly to the main ideas within evolution or creationism. Both creationism and evolutionism are present in many cultures and religious affiliations. A very popular belief among modern individuals is that the ideas of both evolution and creationism are where our origins arise. One of the more admired forms of this idea is that god created the earth and life on earth from matter, but some higher power is also the mechanism of evolution and that god intervenes in actions on earth by deciding the fate of certain species (god creates mutations). This belief is known by most as theistic evolution. There are various other theories present in both the religious and scientific community that try to connect the ideas of evolution with biblical texts and ideas. The debate behind evolution vs. creationism is all about people trying to figure out the origin of life and where everything came to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 53. Outsourcing Of The National Labor Committee Thinks Otherwise American companies and their products, have increasingly been pursed to be manufactured abroad. This however is one of the biggest discrepancies we confront within our economy. Although many businesses argue this is beneficial in order for them to turn a higher profit and be successful, the National Labor Committee thinks otherwise. Outsourcinghas become one of the leading factors in product recalls, exploitation of workers, and a major contributor to the unemployment statistics in the US. Although outsourcing is a contributor to mass production and a products supply and demand growth, it has also been known for some of the largest product recalls. In the largest product recall in China in 2008, the baby formula of Sanlu (the largest company in the industry by volume was found to contain melamine originated from contaminated milk supply outsourced to local farmers.
