School Tryout Essay
There has long been a disagreement about whether schools should hold tryouts for competitive sports
teams, for the reason that many people hold varying opinions on this issue. Despite the fact that an
incredible amount of citizens believe that students should be allowed to participate in athletics without
trying out, numerous people disagree with that position. Some people argue that tryouts are a
traditional way to choose the best students on the spot, or instead, tryouts could result as an emotional
breakdown. But the truth of the matter is that students should be trying out for a competitive sport
team. One main reason is that having tryouts allows students to push to try harder, and learn life
lessons. The last reason is, if it weren t ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Without tryouts, students wouldn t learn that not everything is handed to them for free. This is why
schools need to permit tryouts.
Another reason schools should execute tryouts is because if it weren t for tryouts, there would be too
many students on a team, and it can be chaotic. According to Dr. Allen Goldberg, he states, If there s
too many kids on one team, kids won t get the fair amount of playing time that they deserve.
(Goldberg, 2015). Skeptics believe that every student (either an advanced or average youth athlete)
should get the equivalent amount of playing time during a game, yet many disagree with the opinion.
Sharing play time with average students is unfair to children who are highly skilled in this certain
sport. For example, a spontaneous youth athlete can work very hard during practices, while other
athletes could slack off during the process. It is unfair to the athletes who are concentrated during
practices to share play time with students who do not work for the win at all. They deserve the
appropriate amount of playtime because they ve worked so hard during practices for the particular
game. This is also very huge because coaches want the most skilled children on the team so they can
achieve the gold. This is why tryouts should be handled with competitive sports teams. Additionally,
Budgets aren t large enough to cover all costs players need. (Matz, 2015). This statement shows that

Transition From A Student Nurse Essay
Transition from Student to Nurse A number of emotions were felt during this experience, in regards to
transitioning from a student nurse to the registered nurse role. Primarily, the transition in role from
student nurse to registered nurse was similar to any clinical experience I have had at Midlands
Technical College. I was placed in a medical surgical rotation. I felt slighted that not only were we
required to complete a data tool but we also participated in the teamwork model demonstrated in prior
semesters. Personally, I did not feel a transition during this particular clinical experience. My Clinical
Experience What did I like about the experience? I did like that my clinical instructor challenged me.
Her expectations were very high for each student. I respected that she was serious about her role as a
nursing instructor. She often tells us that she knows what will be awaiting us as new graduate nurses
and she wants us to succeed. I work diligently to ensure that I will be successful. Feeling
Uncomfortable The uncomfortable part about this rotation was mostly working with the elderly adult
population. I felt cheated, again. The first time I earned a degree I expressed interest in working with
mothers and babies and I did not have the opportunity to do so. That same thing happened again in
this program. I found myself counting down the days until clinical was over. I do not feel that
activities of daily living, although important, should be the primary focus of

The Middle Ages And Renaissance Period
From the time period of knights, kings, and queens, women have often been seen as a damsel in
distress; one in which needs rescuing, taking care of and protected as a prize possession. This
possession was just that, the possession of a man for which she was to be subservient, meek, honoring,
and bowing down before her man. Hence, any deviation from this behavior, she was charged with
treason whether justified or not. She was expected to act and behave in a proper manner, beseeching
power to those above her. Throughout the years, this pattern has been slow to change. I will show the
changes of the way women were viewed and treated, however very subtle, through the literature in
Middle Ages and Renaissance time period with authors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I know not if she s woman or goddess; but Venus she is truly, I guess. (Chaucer lines 240 244)
Both men acknowledged the beauty in the fair Emily, but both were in prison. They bickered between
each other as to who saw her first, as they objectified her as the most beautiful woman, the equivalent
of a goddess. As Arcita was released from prison, and Palamon remained, Arcita declared Palamon the
victor: Yours is the victory, and that is sure, / For there, full happily, you may endure / In prison Never
but in Paradise! (Chaucer 377 379). The implication was that he could never be happy not seeing his
desired woman, when Palamon, even though locked up in a cell, could observe the beautiful Emily
while she strolled in the garden. The admiration of Emily continues as Palamon escapes and as luck
would have it met up with Arcita which prompts a dual. King Theseus, out hunting with this queen,
and Emily, came upon this fight. Both men declared they love for Emily, but prisoners, one escaped
and one banished from the land, were sentenced to death. The women, cried out for the sparing of
their lives:
But then the queen, whose heart was for pity bled,
Began to weep, and so did Emily
And all the ladies in the company.
Great pity must it be, so thought they all,

Why Was Hammurabi Unjust
Hammurabi s code was unjust for a variety of reasons. First of all, many of the punishments did not fit
the crime. For example, in law 21, if a person had broken into someone s house and was caught, the
punishment was to be hung. If this were to happen today, the consequence would be looked upon as
wrong because the person should be put on trial instead. Another reason Hammurabi s code of laws is
unjust is because people were often punished for mistakes. In law 218, Hammurabi says If a surgeon
has operated with a bronze lancet on a free man for a serious injury, and has caused his death,... his
hands shall be cut off. This shows that people were punished for mistakes because even if it was not a
preventable death, the surgeon will still be

Cleopatra and Her Relationship with Roman Caesars
Stacy Schiff is a remarkable writer and a historian. She has a Pulitzer Prize to prove it, and she is also
a guest writer for the New York Times and various newspapers. Her latest work is Cleopatra: A Life.
Schiff tells how Cleopatra was a very remarkable woman. Even after Octavian, Cleopatra was known
as the wicked women in the world.
Schiff tells much about Cleopatra s life involving Mark Antony and Julius Caesar. Schiff ensures us
that Cleopatra had one of the top educations from Alexandria. Caesar did not only stay in Egypt for
Cleopatra s seductress ways, however Caesar wanted to get rein over his enemies. When Caesar was
murdered, by a group of schemers, in the Roman Senate, his adopted great nephew Gaius Octavius
was his only heir. Mark Antony thought he was heir to the Roman Empire but however, Caesar had
different plans.
Janet Suzman tells the story of how Shakespeare wrote the play about Cleopatra and Mark Antony.
Suzman says Shakespeare s Antony and Cleopatra is a horrific story of a formally mighty conqueror
who is infatuated with the Queen of Egypt. Antony was so obsessed with Cleopatra and how she led
him to his death. (Draycott, 38 44) Suzman said that Cleopatra and Antony had a horrible love story.
Schiff tells the story of Cleopatra and Antony very similar to Suzman. However, Cleopatra and Antony
s relationship had its problems. Schiff believed that Antony and Cleopatra had much in common. They
were both left out of Caesar s will. Schiff also tells how

Standardized Testing Argumentative Essay
Standardized tests, the monster all students have to face. These important tests are known to cause
high amounts of stress on not only students, but also teachers, causing them to teach to the test. This,
and the stress, can negatively affect a student s potential to learn as much as they possibly can. Studies
have proven that standardized tests also are not reliable for many reasons. One reason being,
standardized tests do not even accurately measure how much an individual student has learned. So,
why do standardized tests even exist?
The earliest form of standardized tests were used to measure the knowledge, of people wanting
government jobs, on philosophy and poetry. Another early form of standardized tests, were essays.
The more modern version of standardized tests started in the 1800 s when school had become more of
an option over working, to get children out of dangerous workplaces like factories. The tests these
students took are similar to modern ones, where everyone in the same grade gets the same exact test.
The reason for standardized tests back then, were to easily and quickly, evaluate how much the
students had learned. Now that we have more efficient ways of evaluating how much a student has
learned, why do we still use this method of testing?
There are two common ways a standardized test is taken. One way, is filling in ... Show more content

Teachers worry about losing their job if their students do not perform well on the test. So, they will
frequently teach to the test which means they may skip over a lesson if they think it will not be on the
test, or teach things a certain way because that s how they think it will be asked on a test. This can
alter the potential a student has to learn. Basically, standardized tests are used to determine how much
a student has learned, yet, at the same time, it is causing teachers to skip certain parts of the course.
Standardized tests contradict

Benjamin Franklin s Aphorism
Failing to prepare and preparing to fail, the two go hand in hand. When Benjamin Franklin said this, it
is not only accurate, but also extremely relevant to a person s ordinary day. Whether it be studying for
a test, homework, or even just working a job, preparation is the best way to achieve one s ambition.
The first thing that comes to mind when thinking of Franklin s aphorism, is a high school student
wanting to pass an exam or SOL. For most high schoolers, it is a big deal to do well on these end of
the year assessments, in order to get into an elite college, or at least of college of choice. Achieving a
good score on these exams is no easy task, at least not without preparation. High school can be a very

Software And Software Based Systems Testing
Introduction Software and software based systems testing is a technical discipline of systems
engineering. The purpose of software and software based systems testing is to help the development
organization build quality into the software and system during the life cycle processes and to validate
that the quality was achieved. The test process determines whether the products of a given life cycle
activity conform to the requirements of that activity, and whether the product satisfies its intended use
and user needs. This determination can include inspection, demonstration, analysis, and testing of
software and software based system products. Test activities are performed in parallel with software
and system development, not just at the conclusion of the development effort. IEEE 829 supports all
software life cycle processes, including acquisition, supply, development, operation, and maintenance.
This standard is compatible with all life cycle models. Not all life cycle models use all of the life cycle
processes listed in this standard. System and software test processes determine whether the outcomes
of a given activity conform to the requirements of that activity and whether the development product
satisfies its intended use and user needs. The determination may include analysis, demonstration,
inspection, and testing of software products. The user of this standard may invoke those software life
cycle processes and the associated test processes that apply to the project.

The Crucible Of Life By Timothy Crutcher
The Crucible of Life, by Timothy Crutcher, is a book that explains: the interrelationship of theological
method and religious epistemology, the function of experience as an authority, the specific
epistemological grounds, and the usefulness today of John Wesley s theological method (17). The
book begins by explaining an important distinction in Wesley s usage of the word experience in
comparison to our contemporary common use of the word. That is, Wesley uses the word experience
to describe an outward, active process rather than a subjective and passive interpretation (23).
Furthermore, it is noted that Wesley should not be assumed to be a Lockean philosopher due to his
variety of philosophical roots (25). Then, the book explains in ... Show more content on

In other words, subjective experience offers no grounds to be tested against in Wesley s view (82).
Then, the authority of scripture and its a priori usage is presented. Scripture provides a positive a
priori, which is information that is useful when approaching new experiences (98) and negative a
priori, which is that which provides boundaries to our understandings (102). Furthermore, our
interpretation of scripture is monitored by reason. Reason (as logic) is necessary for a correct
interpretation of scripture to Wesley (110). Without it, we would be unable to acquire tools for proper
interpretation of scripture. In addition, reason may only be utilized when provided with experience
(115). However, experience, at times, can exceed that which reason has the power to evaluate (117).
And so, when reason is unable to be utilized to evaluate a particular experience, the hermeneutical
process between reason and experience becomes useful. We can evaluate our experiences via reason
continually until our experiences eventually point in a direction that can, perhaps, issue analyzable
knowledge on issues that were, at first, merely subjective (120). If an experience never arises in an
objective, rather than subjective, way throughout the hermeneutical, then Wesley admits that not even
his concept of spiritual senses can resolve the issue and the experience

My Breaking In From Black Beauty
Literature Critique
Throughout the world and history horses have been used for various things and been treated various
ways. To some, horses are just another tool like a shovel or tractor used for work to complete
necessary tasks. For others horses are family used for hobby or sport and loved dearly. It is amazing
how the view of horses has changed over the years and still today people have different opinions on
how horses should be treated, and what they should be used for. The two chapters I read from Price s
book greatly differed and showed very different opinions of horses.
The first chapter, My Breaking In from Black Beauty, is a short description of how horses are broke
from the eyes of a horse. The author uses the perspective of a horse to describe how if horses are
treated well they will work hard for you in return. In the chapter Black Beauty is talking to his mom
who tells him how there are different types of masters (owners) in the world, she explains how you
should work hard ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the Black Beauty chapter the horse is respected and even though he is used for work his master still
loves him and cares for him. In the Hunting Sketches chapter the narrator has almost a hatred for the
horses because he dislikes fox hunting and doesn t want to do it. The first chapter describes the horses
as much more than tools while the Hunting Sketches chapter depicts horses as just another part of the
fox hunting sport. In the Black Beauty chapter the horse wants to work for his master and the master
wants the best for his horse. The whole chapter is based around the horse and written from the horses
prospective. The Hunting Sketches chapter talks about fox hunting and really doesn t emphasize the
horses. The author discusses his dislike for fox hunting and his frustration with his horse. These two
stories are very different and show very different opinions of

Ralph Presents The Success Of The Christian On The Campaign
Ralph presents the success of the Christian on the campaign resulting from Gods intervention on their
behalf. The role played by god as the driving force in the crusade. With the progression of Gesta
Tancredi, God is credited as giving the upper edge to the followers of Christ over the enemies who and
the followers of Mohamet. Ralph credits God with giving courage and wisdom to the Crusaders.
When the odds were against the Christians he showed them the way to victory or salvation. Ralph
presents the primary motive for the Crusade as a service on behalf the Lord. It is this reason why he
credits God when the Christian armies are victorious and to why they kept pushing even when facing
defeat.
Ralph presents that the purpose of the Crusade was a service to God . He states that military life
conflicted with Christian principles on murder. Pope Urban granted remission of all sins for Christians
who participated in the campaign to reclaim the holy land in the name of Lord. Tancred, a Norman
leader participated in the first crusade benefited from this proclamation . Ralph describes Tancred with
having a great battle spirit matched with his devotion for Christ. For the crusade Tancred took up his
sword in the service of Christ. At the begging of the campaign during the crossing from Italy on the
way to Byzantium, the safe passage of Tancred and Bohemond was possible with gifts and prayers to

Challenges Facing Urban Sprawl And Inner City Poverty
voice of the people and leaves staff and administration struggling to find suitable solutions in a fixed
budget.
Public choice theory supports the theory that fragmented municipal structures generate savings
because they allow individuals to make their own choices about services and taxes (L.G.C, pg. 155).
This can lead to greater issues of urban sprawl and inner city poverty as the larger municipality
becomes more fragmented.
Key Purpose: Equity
When examining equity and equality in a fragmented municipal structure, serious concerns can be
raised in regards to inequalities to income, economic opportunity and quality of life (L.G.C, pg. 161).
It is sadly ironic that suburb residents avoid the social costs of the inner city, but yet, the inner city
residents are subsidizing the expensive projects in the suburbs like infrastructure and water/sewer lines
(L.G.C, pg. 161).
Solutions for equity issues can be successfully addressed in other ways than restructuring. Issues such
as spillover overs and externalities are often amplified when urban and rural municipalities with
varying service standards are brought together. Vojinovic emphasizes that if the different levels of
services among merging municipalities is not recognized and built into the tax structure, externalities
can result in residents businesses can be paying for services that do not benefit them (L.G.C, pg. 163).
Conflict
A disadvantage to amalgamation is inter municipal disagreements and turf wars

The film, Silence, has a myriad of characters that are on a spectrum of religious belief. There are
certain characters that show an immense devotion to their faith, willing to risk their life and the lives
of others to profess their fidelity to God. Although this film highlights two Jesuit priests, Father
Sebastian Rodrigues and Father Francisco Garupe, there is an interesting contrasting devotion from
the Inquisition to Buddhism. They have no tolerance for Christianity and believe it to be a cancer that
must be cut from Japan. The priests go to great lengths to find a third priest, Father Cristovao Ferreira,
who has gone missing while operating as a missionary. Father Ferreira ends up getting captured,
recants his faith, and sides with the Inquisition, helping them investigate objects hidden as Christian
relics. There are many applicable ideas relating to religious fundamentalism within the film.
Sigmund Freud and William James differ on the explanation of religious experience. James focuses on
religion as feelings and experiences of an individual. For the most part the religious experience is felt
instead of a concept. James also believes that religion is not linear or homogenous. There are different
perceptions or involvement one has with their faith. A great example of contrasting persons within
their religious experiences in the film, Silence, is Father Rodrigues and Yosulu Kubozuka (Kichijiro).
The viewer would most likely consider Father Rodrigues as the main

We also interview system users and operators and consult checklists. Review historical data, studies
from other similar systems is also a very useful method. Totally, risk assessment can be divided into
quantitative risk assessment and qualitative risk assessment.
Value of risk assessment:
Although risk assessment methods have existed for many years, due to several factors, human
interests in it has increased in recent years. Firstly, the pressure is constantly increasing due to the
design cycle, which reduces the tolerance for the late changes. Secondly, production efficiency and
cost efficiency directly affect significant opportunities. Thirdly, performing risk assessment to
decrease the cost and improve productivity provides a competitive advantage. Next, risk assessment
has already caused great international influence. Many international organization clearly claims that
they require a risk assessment.Besides, capturing knowledge, product liability, lack of standards,
schedule control and customer requirements are another kinds of values of risk assessment. For
administrators and decision makers, accounting for the uncertainty could be extremely important to
have an evaluation of the degree of confidence of the results to be used for the implementation of
mitigation actions. (Wang 722)

American Education System Faulty
It is a well known fact that Americans, in comparison to other developed nations worldwide, lags in
academic achievement as evidenced by various international assessments. The results of such
assessments have led many to question the reasons behind it is the American education system faulty,
is the population simply too large to fully educate, or is it the lack of motivation in all parties
involved? Though these aspects are all likely to have played a role in the educational lag, the
underlying reason for America s lagging academic achievement may well lie in its highly diverse
population and social culture within the schools, which may not particularly foster the kind of social
support necessary for success in an academic setting. While this ... Show more content on

To get a sense for how low America ranks, it was found in a 2009 PISA study that the United States
ranks 25th out of 33 countries on the exam, where countries such as Japan, South Korea, and Finland
score consistently near the top (Sparapani et al, 2014). Such results make it clear that there is a
significant difference between these nations and the US. Namely, one of the largest differences
between America and other nations participating in the PISA exam is cultural diversity. In fact, nations
that rank higher on the PISA exam tend to have smaller, more culturally homogenous populations with
the majority of citizens holding similar views and cultural expectations of their educational system. By
contrast, America celebrates its high cultural diversity, which places unique burdens on schools when
considered in an educational context. Significant inequities within the American culture stem from its
cultural diversity, and inspire implicit disagreements as to how education should be handled in
America. For example, Laura Gonzalez (2013), an assistant professor with the department of
Counseling and Educational development at the University of North Carolina, notes that the idea of
respeto in Latino communities, which refers to the high esteem and respect for elders and
professionals within the community, is highly valued. As a result of these values, Latino families are
less likely than other ethnicities to report potential problems to the school (Bower Griffin, 2011). In
this context, the family, who may be recent immigrants without the greatest grasp of the American
educational system, tends view their role as being in the home. Instead, they trust the teacher to do
their job while their children are at school, and choose not to interfere as a way of respecting the

Martin Luther s Theology Of The Cross
Furthermore, Luther s Theology of the cross helps us to see God incarnate, with us, Emmanuel, even
in the suffering and death of the crucified one, God s only son, Jesus. It is in this suffering that we
know that God is with us. In a very human way, God takes on the fate of the world, to destroy human
flesh through Jesus, the incarnation. God does change, suffer and die. It is God alone, and nothing we
do. God does all the heavy lifting for our sake, and it is a gift. Jesus gives us an example of someone
who loves us so deeply, that he is willing to lay down his life.

Northwest Ordinance Essay
Do you know what the northwest territory ordinance is? The northwest ordinance, was a plan that
would allow the U.S to expand its boundaries out to the Pacific, it was adopted on july 13 1787. That
plan was made by the second Continental Congress. Before the northwest ordinance plan was in
motation there was another plan also made my the Continental Congress Resolution on Public Lands.
The northwest territory ordinance was the first ordinance made. It was made to get all the states north
of the ohio river and west of Pennsylvania to become part of the union. The northwest ordinance not
only added more states but it also provided a stronger government. There was a bill of rights that came

It also influenced how the United States is set up today. The ordinance guaranteed that the new states
would get treated the same as the original 13 states.
The northwest ordinance didn t just makes the 5 states part of the union but it also became the slave
free states. So slave that got released or free could go to any of those 5 states and live a normal life.
Some people would take the slaves papers and rip them up and send them back to the slave states to
make money. So that made it hard for the slaves to live a new normal life.
The troubles they had with this treaty was how divide the land into states. Because the population had
to reach 60,000 to become a statehood. But once that happened they divided the land north of the ohio
river into 5 states. The bill of rights played a important role in the northwest ordinance. It provided a
method for admitting new states to the Union from the territory, and listed a bill of rights guaranteed
in the territory. It also provides rights for the people living in one of the 5 states.

Singer, Martin, and Kelner studied 126 patients on dialysis, diagnosed with AIDS, or residents of long
term care facilities, to determine their views on end of life issues. Their results identified five domains
of quality care at the end of life. These were adequate pain and symptom management, avoiding
inappropriate prolongation of dying, achieving a sense of control, relieving burden, and strengthening
relationships with loved ones (p. 163, 1999). The participants expressed fear of lingering or kept alive
when they could no longer enjoy their lives. Many stated that they would not wish to go on life
support if they were not going to improve or have a chance to live a normal life again. Several
mentioned that being placed on life support was the same as being a guinea pig. There were
conflicting reports on the choice of dying at home or in a hospital. Some wanted to be at home, but
others felt that was a burden on the family (Singer, Martin, Kelner, 1999). Another study by Gourdji,
McVey, Purden in 2009 interviewed palliative care patients about the meaning of quality of life at this
stage of their illness, and the factors that would improve their quality of life. They found that several
factors, including their approach to life, their approach to their illness, and their ideal of quality of life
shaped their end of life experiences. These patients stressed that they most wanted to continue

Analysis Of Bellezza And The Non-Verbal Realm In Social...
Bellezza and the Non Verbal Realm in Social Interaction
Social interactions influence our relationships and how people view one another. An interaction can be
verbal or non verbal, but still can connect or separate two people. Three articles discuss different
forms of social interactions and how they affect varied types of relationships.
Wicklund, and Vida Grim (2004) describe the role of bellezza in interpersonal relationships. Bellezza
is known as the objects that are pleasing to the senses. These objects refer to the visual, acoustical,
olfactory and tactile aspects of people. Bellezza differs between each person, but generally follows a
few prerequisites, including the absence of pressing drives, cultural understanding, and input from
sensory dimensions. The absence of pressing drives includes an open mind free of anxiety, fear, and
other strong drives, while cultural understanding refers to the education needed to understand there are
different customs for each culture. Lastly, although the input of several sensory dimensions is ideal for
bellezza, it is not necessary to need all sensory dimensions at the same time. Finally, bellezza can be
broken down into short term and long term preparations. It is necessary to have short term contact
such as eye contact, an appropriate distance apart, and good posture to be open to creating bellezza for
another person. In order to maintain bellezza in the long term, an individual must first develop a
solidarity of esthetic impressions, then agree to meet again in the future.
Bertacco and Deponte (2005) analyzed the communicative experience by comparing letter writing to
emails. Through two experiments, students were asked to write either a letter or email to a long lost
friend. It was hypothesized that participants who wrote an email would be more concise in their
writing, with less references to shared knowledge at the implicit and explicit level in experiment 1.
Thus, perspective taking was measured by the number of a participant s references to memories with
their long lost friend. This was recorded after the letter was finished, where participants were asked to
record as many memories as they could in two minutes. Results from experiment one show that email

The And Sacking Of The Greatest Metropolis
The plundering and sacking of the greatest metropolis (Constantinople) in the Christian world. Surely,
this was not the result that Pope Innocent III had in mind when he called upon the leaders of Europe in
1198 in an attempt to convince them to retake the Holy Land (Jerusalem). Since the death of Saladin,
Pope Innocent believed they were at a moment of weakness and it was a great opportunity to take the
Holy Land (Robinson). However, they would never get there. Short of resources and men the
crusaders took deals with the Republic of Venice and Alexis the IV. These deals involved them
invading Zara and Constantinople, fellow Christian kingdoms (Robinson). The irony of such actions is
astounding, considering their original mission of taking the cross in the name of Christianity. The 4th
Crusade was an eruption of tensions between the West and the Byzantine Empire which was caused by
the barbaric, greedy, and hypocritical nature of the Western leaders and crusaders and would leave a
devastating impact on the future of Byzantium. The relationship between Byzantium and the West was
severely severed by the time of the 4th crusade. There were still animosities from the West regarding
the Schism of 1054 when the Orthodox Church split from the Catholic Church (Phillips). There were
tensions caused by invasions by the fighting between the two parties in decades previous, and also by
the mannerism of passing crusader armies in Byzantium in 1095. Significantly, there was a general

The Defining Decade
The Defining Decade was one of the most unique and informative books I have ever read. Using this
book in relation to my life, I have gained a lot of acumen on how there are a lot of advantages in your
twenties and if you do not take advantage of them now, there will be consequences in the future. One
point that made a lasting impression on me was the topic on weak ties. Meg Jay says, Weak ties feel
too different or in some cases, literally too far away to be close friends. But thats the point. Because
they re not just figures in an already ingrown cluster, weak ties gives us access to something fresh.
They know things and people that we don t know. (21) This is a very accurate statement because
networking leads to opportunities that cannot be seen unless you act and take advantage of it. Perhaps
the single best thing we can do to make our own luck in our twenties is to say yes to our weak ties or
give them a reason to say yes to us. (31) Most people stay in their ... Show more content on

However, I will not use this book to help me with my love life because there are cultural differences

decisions is how I choose to grow as a man. Jay has stated helpful career tips and intelligent points
regarding time. The choices we make in our twenties affect us for the rest of our lives. You have to
start somewhere and experience is what will count in the long run. One new aspect I have learned is to
never procrastinate or hold back. Meg Jays continues to remind us that it is always beneficiary to take
the first step. Never let fear or doubt hold you back. I agree with what Meg Jay has to say because I
was always doubtful and anxious about my future. After reading The Defining Decade, I feel I have

The Perfect Murder Alfred Hitchcock Rhetorical Techniques
Alfred Hitchcock Presents The Perfect Murder : A Rhetorical Analysis In The Perfect Murder, from
Alfred Hitchcock Presents is a black and white television series aired from 1955 to 1962. It is a story
about two brothers, Paul and Henri, they are trying to come up with the perfect plan to get their
inheritance from their recently deceased uncle, by any means necessary. The only thing stopping them
is their perfectly healthy and stubborn Aunt Rosalie. Aunt Rosalie is very perceptive, stubborn, and
not fooled by anyone. She is on to the devious schemes of her not so trustworthy nephews. This
episode is filled with deception, betrayal, and greed and weaves a wonderful tale about how people
almost get away with what they deserve. This story ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Henri is one of the two nephews of the rich uncle who recently passed away. From time to time he
does a short narration of the film. The story begins in the house of late uncle with the reading of his
will and continues throughout the rest of the film. The rest of the story tells about the relationship
between the two brothers, Paul and Henri, and the newly widowed and rich old Aunt Rosalie.
Considering the movie was made during 1956 the content and them are consistent with the time frame
and geared toward an adult audience that are fans of mystery movies. It has an awesome ending twist
and illustrates, quit nicely, that you always get what you deserve. The sole purpose of this file is to
deliver that message. The tone however is very inconsistent throughout the film. When the film begins
it is very gloomy and dark because of the death of their uncle. It soon shifts into the plan of the two
brothers and the tone becomes suspicious and the music is very mysterious. Once Paul begins to lay
his deceptive relationship on Aunt Rosalie the tone changes again and becomes cheerful and happy
and shows Rosalie being deceptive by allowing Paul to act as if he had good intentions knowing all to

The Executive Branch Analysis
Time has passed since the branches of government were created, and so have the everlasting needs of
the expanding United States. These three branches consist of the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial.
Each with balanced power impacts every American citizen s life and needs. Each significant branch of
the government addresses social, economic, and political matters which influences the lives of a
society with changing needs.
The Executive Branch has expanded to attend to the needs of the country. When viewing the
Executive Branch years ago, not only did the needs shift over time, but so did the government.
Looking at the divisions in The Cabinet, more departments have been created for issues within the
United States since the beginning. This is because of the flourishing amount of needs from society
now, and the advancements over the years. Many specific departments have sprouted to advise the
President. This shows how the Executive Branch addresses the needs of the United States. ... Show

This branch is in control of creating the constitutional laws that will serve as a solution to the issues
within. The Women s Rights Movement was very impactful and was considered a necessity for society
in the early 1900s. The Legislative Branch reacted to this need by passing the 19th Amendment. This
amendment allowed Women to vote, showing how the branch would face an issue. In 1985, a song
called 19 by Paul Hardcastle presented the issue with age in that current social setting. The song
discussed that a soldier could fight in the Vietnam War at the age of 18, but could not vote until 21.
The song s purpose encouraged the Executive Branch to take action by passing the 26th Amendment
which allowed anyone at the age of 18 the right to vote. This is another prime example of the
government addressing everchanging issues within the

  • 2. School Tryout Essay There has long been a disagreement about whether schools should hold tryouts for competitive sports teams, for the reason that many people hold varying opinions on this issue. Despite the fact that an incredible amount of citizens believe that students should be allowed to participate in athletics without trying out, numerous people disagree with that position. Some people argue that tryouts are a traditional way to choose the best students on the spot, or instead, tryouts could result as an emotional breakdown. But the truth of the matter is that students should be trying out for a competitive sport team. One main reason is that having tryouts allows students to push to try harder, and learn life lessons. The last reason is, if it weren t ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Without tryouts, students wouldn t learn that not everything is handed to them for free. This is why schools need to permit tryouts. Another reason schools should execute tryouts is because if it weren t for tryouts, there would be too many students on a team, and it can be chaotic. According to Dr. Allen Goldberg, he states, If there s too many kids on one team, kids won t get the fair amount of playing time that they deserve. (Goldberg, 2015). Skeptics believe that every student (either an advanced or average youth athlete) should get the equivalent amount of playing time during a game, yet many disagree with the opinion. Sharing play time with average students is unfair to children who are highly skilled in this certain sport. For example, a spontaneous youth athlete can work very hard during practices, while other athletes could slack off during the process. It is unfair to the athletes who are concentrated during practices to share play time with students who do not work for the win at all. They deserve the appropriate amount of playtime because they ve worked so hard during practices for the particular game. This is also very huge because coaches want the most skilled children on the team so they can achieve the gold. This is why tryouts should be handled with competitive sports teams. Additionally, Budgets aren t large enough to cover all costs players need. (Matz, 2015). This statement shows that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Transition From A Student Nurse Essay Transition from Student to Nurse A number of emotions were felt during this experience, in regards to transitioning from a student nurse to the registered nurse role. Primarily, the transition in role from student nurse to registered nurse was similar to any clinical experience I have had at Midlands Technical College. I was placed in a medical surgical rotation. I felt slighted that not only were we required to complete a data tool but we also participated in the teamwork model demonstrated in prior semesters. Personally, I did not feel a transition during this particular clinical experience. My Clinical Experience What did I like about the experience? I did like that my clinical instructor challenged me. Her expectations were very high for each student. I respected that she was serious about her role as a nursing instructor. She often tells us that she knows what will be awaiting us as new graduate nurses and she wants us to succeed. I work diligently to ensure that I will be successful. Feeling Uncomfortable The uncomfortable part about this rotation was mostly working with the elderly adult population. I felt cheated, again. The first time I earned a degree I expressed interest in working with mothers and babies and I did not have the opportunity to do so. That same thing happened again in this program. I found myself counting down the days until clinical was over. I do not feel that activities of daily living, although important, should be the primary focus of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Middle Ages And Renaissance Period From the time period of knights, kings, and queens, women have often been seen as a damsel in distress; one in which needs rescuing, taking care of and protected as a prize possession. This possession was just that, the possession of a man for which she was to be subservient, meek, honoring, and bowing down before her man. Hence, any deviation from this behavior, she was charged with treason whether justified or not. She was expected to act and behave in a proper manner, beseeching power to those above her. Throughout the years, this pattern has been slow to change. I will show the changes of the way women were viewed and treated, however very subtle, through the literature in Middle Ages and Renaissance time period with authors ... (Chaucer lines 240 244) Both men acknowledged the beauty in the fair Emily, but both were in prison. They bickered between each other as to who saw her first, as they objectified her as the most beautiful woman, the equivalent of a goddess. As Arcita was released from prison, and Palamon remained, Arcita declared Palamon the victor: Yours is the victory, and that is sure, / For there, full happily, you may endure / In prison Never but in Paradise! (Chaucer 377 379). The implication was that he could never be happy not seeing his desired woman, when Palamon, even though locked up in a cell, could observe the beautiful Emily while she strolled in the garden. The admiration of Emily continues as Palamon escapes and as luck would have it met up with Arcita which prompts a dual. King Theseus, out hunting with this queen, and Emily, came upon this fight. Both men declared they love for Emily, but prisoners, one escaped and one banished from the land, were sentenced to death. The women, cried out for the sparing of their lives: But then the queen, whose heart was for pity bled, Began to weep, and so did Emily And all the ladies in the company. • 6. Why Was Hammurabi Unjust Hammurabi s code was unjust for a variety of reasons. First of all, many of the punishments did not fit the crime. For example, in law 21, if a person had broken into someone s house and was caught, the punishment was to be hung. If this were to happen today, the consequence would be looked upon as wrong because the person should be put on trial instead. Another reason Hammurabi s code of laws is unjust is because people were often punished for mistakes. In law 218, Hammurabi says If a surgeon has operated with a bronze lancet on a free man for a serious injury, and has caused his death,... his hands shall be cut off. This shows that people were punished for mistakes because even if it was not a preventable death, the surgeon will still be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Cleopatra and Her Relationship with Roman Caesars Stacy Schiff is a remarkable writer and a historian. She has a Pulitzer Prize to prove it, and she is also a guest writer for the New York Times and various newspapers. Her latest work is Cleopatra: A Life. Schiff tells how Cleopatra was a very remarkable woman. Even after Octavian, Cleopatra was known as the wicked women in the world. Schiff tells much about Cleopatra s life involving Mark Antony and Julius Caesar. Schiff ensures us that Cleopatra had one of the top educations from Alexandria. Caesar did not only stay in Egypt for Cleopatra s seductress ways, however Caesar wanted to get rein over his enemies. When Caesar was murdered, by a group of schemers, in the Roman Senate, his adopted great nephew Gaius Octavius was his only heir. Mark Antony thought he was heir to the Roman Empire but however, Caesar had different plans. Janet Suzman tells the story of how Shakespeare wrote the play about Cleopatra and Mark Antony. Suzman says Shakespeare s Antony and Cleopatra is a horrific story of a formally mighty conqueror who is infatuated with the Queen of Egypt. Antony was so obsessed with Cleopatra and how she led him to his death. (Draycott, 38 44) Suzman said that Cleopatra and Antony had a horrible love story. Schiff tells the story of Cleopatra and Antony very similar to Suzman. However, Cleopatra and Antony s relationship had its problems. Schiff believed that Antony and Cleopatra had much in common. They were both left out of Caesar s will. Schiff also tells how ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Standardized Testing Argumentative Essay Standardized tests, the monster all students have to face. These important tests are known to cause high amounts of stress on not only students, but also teachers, causing them to teach to the test. This, and the stress, can negatively affect a student s potential to learn as much as they possibly can. Studies have proven that standardized tests also are not reliable for many reasons. One reason being, standardized tests do not even accurately measure how much an individual student has learned. So, why do standardized tests even exist? The earliest form of standardized tests were used to measure the knowledge, of people wanting government jobs, on philosophy and poetry. Another early form of standardized tests, were essays. The more modern version of standardized tests started in the 1800 s when school had become more of an option over working, to get children out of dangerous workplaces like factories. The tests these students took are similar to modern ones, where everyone in the same grade gets the same exact test. The reason for standardized tests back then, were to easily and quickly, evaluate how much the students had learned. Now that we have more efficient ways of evaluating how much a student has learned, why do we still use this method of testing? There are two common ways a standardized test is taken. One way, is filling in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Teachers worry about losing their job if their students do not perform well on the test. So, they will frequently teach to the test which means they may skip over a lesson if they think it will not be on the test, or teach things a certain way because that s how they think it will be asked on a test. This can alter the potential a student has to learn. Basically, standardized tests are used to determine how much a student has learned, yet, at the same time, it is causing teachers to skip certain parts of the course. When Benjamin Franklin said this, it is not only accurate, but also extremely relevant to a person s ordinary day. Whether it be studying for a test, homework, or even just working a job, preparation is the best way to achieve one s ambition. The first thing that comes to mind when thinking of Franklin s aphorism, is a high school student wanting to pass an exam or SOL. For most high schoolers, it is a big deal to do well on these end of the year assessments, in order to get into an elite college, or at least of college of choice. • 15. Software And Software Based Systems Testing Introduction Software and software based systems testing is a technical discipline of systems engineering. The purpose of software and software based systems testing is to help the development organization build quality into the software and system during the life cycle processes and to validate that the quality was achieved. The test process determines whether the products of a given life cycle activity conform to the requirements of that activity, and whether the product satisfies its intended use and user needs. This determination can include inspection, demonstration, analysis, and testing of software and software based system products. Test activities are performed in parallel with software and system development, not just at the conclusion of the development effort. IEEE 829 supports all software life cycle processes, including acquisition, supply, development, operation, and maintenance. This standard is compatible with all life cycle models. Not all life cycle models use all of the life cycle processes listed in this standard. System and software test processes determine whether the outcomes of a given activity conform to the requirements of that activity and whether the development product satisfies its intended use and user needs. The determination may include analysis, demonstration, inspection, and testing of software products. The user of this standard may invoke those software life cycle processes and the associated test processes that apply to the project. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Crucible Of Life By Timothy Crutcher The Crucible of Life, by Timothy Crutcher, is a book that explains: the interrelationship of theological method and religious epistemology, the function of experience as an authority, the specific epistemological grounds, and the usefulness today of John Wesley s theological method (17). The book begins by explaining an important distinction in Wesley s usage of the word experience in comparison to our contemporary common use of the word. That is, Wesley uses the word experience to describe an outward, active process rather than a subjective and passive interpretation (23). Furthermore, it is noted that Wesley should not be assumed to be a Lockean philosopher due to his variety of philosophical roots (25). Then, the book explains in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In other words, subjective experience offers no grounds to be tested against in Wesley s view (82). Then, the authority of scripture and its a priori usage is presented. Scripture provides a positive a priori, which is information that is useful when approaching new experiences (98) and negative a priori, which is that which provides boundaries to our understandings (102). Furthermore, our interpretation of scripture is monitored by reason. Reason (as logic) is necessary for a correct interpretation of scripture to Wesley (110). Without it, we would be unable to acquire tools for proper interpretation of scripture. In addition, reason may only be utilized when provided with experience (115). However, experience, at times, can exceed that which reason has the power to evaluate (117). And so, when reason is unable to be utilized to evaluate a particular experience, the hermeneutical process between reason and experience becomes useful. We can evaluate our experiences via reason continually until our experiences eventually point in a direction that can, perhaps, issue analyzable knowledge on issues that were, at first, merely subjective (120). If an experience never arises in an objective, rather than subjective, way throughout the hermeneutical, then Wesley admits that not even his concept of spiritual senses can resolve the issue and the experience ... It is amazing how the view of horses has changed over the years and still today people have different opinions on how horses should be treated, and what they should be used for. The two chapters I read from Price s book greatly differed and showed very different opinions of horses. The first chapter, My Breaking In from Black Beauty, is a short description of how horses are broke from the eyes of a horse. • 20. Challenges Facing Urban Sprawl And Inner City Poverty voice of the people and leaves staff and administration struggling to find suitable solutions in a fixed budget. Public choice theory supports the theory that fragmented municipal structures generate savings because they allow individuals to make their own choices about services and taxes (L.G.C, pg. 155). This can lead to greater issues of urban sprawl and inner city poverty as the larger municipality becomes more fragmented. Key Purpose: Equity When examining equity and equality in a fragmented municipal structure, serious concerns can be raised in regards to inequalities to income, economic opportunity and quality of life (L.G.C, pg. 161). It is sadly ironic that suburb residents avoid the social costs of the inner city, but yet, the inner city residents are subsidizing the expensive projects in the suburbs like infrastructure and water/sewer lines (L.G.C, pg. 161). Solutions for equity issues can be successfully addressed in other ways than restructuring. Issues such as spillover overs and externalities are often amplified when urban and rural municipalities with varying service standards are brought together. Vojinovic emphasizes that if the different levels of services among merging municipalities is not recognized and built into the tax structure, externalities can result in residents businesses can be paying for services that do not benefit them (L.G.C, pg. 163). There are certain characters that show an immense devotion to their faith, willing to risk their life and the lives of others to profess their fidelity to God. Although this film highlights two Jesuit priests, Father Sebastian Rodrigues and Father Francisco Garupe, there is an interesting contrasting devotion from the Inquisition to Buddhism. They have no tolerance for Christianity and believe it to be a cancer that must be cut from Japan. The priests go to great lengths to find a third priest, Father Cristovao Ferreira, who has gone missing while operating as a missionary. Father Ferreira ends up getting captured, recants his faith, and sides with the Inquisition, helping them investigate objects hidden as Christian relics. There are many applicable ideas relating to religious fundamentalism within the film. Sigmund Freud and William James differ on the explanation of religious experience. James focuses on religion as feelings and experiences of an individual. For the most part the religious experience is felt instead of a concept. James also believes that religion is not linear or homogenous. There are different perceptions or involvement one has with their faith. The results of such assessments have led many to question the reasons behind it is the American education system faulty, is the population simply too large to fully educate, or is it the lack of motivation in all parties involved? Though these aspects are all likely to have played a role in the educational lag, the underlying reason for America s lagging academic achievement may well lie in its highly diverse population and social culture within the schools, which may not particularly foster the kind of social support necessary for success in an academic setting. Such results make it clear that there is a significant difference between these nations and the US. Namely, one of the largest differences between America and other nations participating in the PISA exam is cultural diversity. In fact, nations that rank higher on the PISA exam tend to have smaller, more culturally homogenous populations with the majority of citizens holding similar views and cultural expectations of their educational system. By contrast, America celebrates its high cultural diversity, which places unique burdens on schools when considered in an educational context. Significant inequities within the American culture stem from its cultural diversity, and inspire implicit disagreements as to how education should be handled in America. For example, Laura Gonzalez (2013), an assistant professor with the department of Counseling and Educational development at the University of North Carolina, notes that the idea of respeto in Latino communities, which refers to the high esteem and respect for elders and professionals within the community, is highly valued. As a result of these values, Latino families are less likely than other ethnicities to report potential problems to the school (Bower Griffin, 2011). In this context, the family, who may be recent immigrants without the greatest grasp of the American educational system, tends view their role as being in the home. Bellezza and the Non Verbal Realm in Social Interaction Social interactions influence our relationships and how people view one another. An interaction can be verbal or non verbal, but still can connect or separate two people. Three articles discuss different forms of social interactions and how they affect varied types of relationships. Wicklund, and Vida Grim (2004) describe the role of bellezza in interpersonal relationships. Bellezza is known as the objects that are pleasing to the senses. These objects refer to the visual, acoustical, olfactory and tactile aspects of people. Bellezza differs between each person, but generally follows a few prerequisites, including the absence of pressing drives, cultural understanding, and input from sensory dimensions. The absence of pressing drives includes an open mind free of anxiety, fear, and other strong drives, while cultural understanding refers to the education needed to understand there are different customs for each culture. Lastly, although the input of several sensory dimensions is ideal for bellezza, it is not necessary to need all sensory dimensions at the same time. Finally, bellezza can be broken down into short term and long term preparations. It is necessary to have short term contact such as eye contact, an appropriate distance apart, and good posture to be open to creating bellezza for another person. In order to maintain bellezza in the long term, an individual must first develop a solidarity of esthetic impressions, then agree to meet again in the future. Bertacco and Deponte (2005) analyzed the communicative experience by comparing letter writing to emails. Through two experiments, students were asked to write either a letter or email to a long lost friend. It was hypothesized that participants who wrote an email would be more concise in their writing, with less references to shared knowledge at the implicit and explicit level in experiment 1. Thus, perspective taking was measured by the number of a participant s references to memories with their long lost friend. This was recorded after the letter was finished, where participants were asked to record as many memories as they could in two minutes. Results from experiment one show that email ... Surely, this was not the result that Pope Innocent III had in mind when he called upon the leaders of Europe in 1198 in an attempt to convince them to retake the Holy Land (Jerusalem). Since the death of Saladin, Pope Innocent believed they were at a moment of weakness and it was a great opportunity to take the Holy Land (Robinson). However, they would never get there.
