Essay on Shakespeare s Macbeth as a Tragic Hero
Macbeth as a Tragic Hero
According to the Greek philosopher Aristotle, The best tragic plot moves the hero from prosperity to
misfortune, occasioned not by depravity, but by some great mistake he makes. The plot of Macbeth
follows these basic guidelines; throughout the play we follow the path of the main character as his life
is torn apart as a result of the colossal mistake he makes when he kills Duncan. It is for this and the
many ensuing reasons that we can say that Macbeth accurately portrays the image of a tragic hero as
outlined by Aristotle.
Aristotle s first guideline for an effective tragic hero is someone that is basically good. While Macbeth
does not exactly make sound moral decisions, toward the beginning of ... Show more content on

Worthy Gentleman! The way they are speaking portrays him as a normal soldier who helped win the
war, not with the help of godly powers, but with simple bravery. He is an average gentleman who wins
the affection of his king by his bravery, and because of this simplicity he reflects the normality of a
real person. Further on in the play he opens up more when he says, I have almost forgot the taste of
fears... At this point in the play the audience has almost lost sight of Macbeth as a real person, his cold
blooded murders disgust us so much that that he becomes something too bile to possibly be human.
We believe that no human could possibly act with the harsh brutality that Macbeth acts with, and so
becomes in imagination, some evil external force that can no longer be related to as a human
individual. However, when Macbeth says these words, he is opening himself up to the fact that he is
still human. The audience realizes that since he can still feel fear, which is a human emotion, he must
still be human. For a brief moment the audience connects with Macbeth, and there is a sense of pity
for the tragic hero because both parties realize that the end is near in sight. For a brief second we
forget about his murderous deeds, and based on the belief

Summary Of The Ixodes Ricinus Tick
Spatial distribution of the ixodes ricinus tick was studied over three different habitats; woodland,
woodland edge and grassland of Dolebury Warren Hill Fort. This species of tick carry the bacteria
responsible for Lyme disease and therefore transmit this disease to numerous vertebrate hosts which
they choose to feed on. Ticks were sampled using a blanket drag method for 10 metres over three
different habitats and the results were collected and recorded in a table, then used for statistical
analysis to aid the understanding of the distribution of the I.ricinus tick species. All life stages of ticks
were counted, including larvae, nymphs and adult ticks. As many of ticks as possible were collected
using tweezers and then placed into collecting

Who Was Responsible For Oedipus s Downfall
Oedipus stubbornness led to his downfall because he thought he was always correct and didn t like
listening to others. He was a static character because he was overconfident and refused to believe
anyone s opinion above his own . By not listening to anyone when the truth came out, he was hurt
emotionally and physically. Oedipus was a man of power and wealth who suddenly falls.
Oedipus saves Thebes from the curse of the Sphinx and becomes the king. Oedipus travels to Delphi
to speak with the oracle to learn the truth about his parents. The oracle tells him that he is going to
murder his father and have sexual feelings for his mother. Oedipus thinks his parents live in a different
town but they do not. Oedipus killed his father and married his mother. Now Creon returns with the

Oedipus asked Tiresias for help but Tiresias refused to tell what he knows. Oedipus begins accusing
Tiresias of Laius s death. In turn, Teiresias accuses Oedipus of being the killer and talks about the bad
things that are going to happen to Oedipus. By Oedipus being short tempered he becomes angry and
tells Tiresias to leave. Jocasta tells Oedipus not to worry about the prophecies because she was once
told a prophecy and it didn t come true. Oedipus is stressed out about Jocasta s remarks because he
killed a man he thought was Laius.
Oedipus then looks for the shepherd. Oedipus learned from an oracle that he was to kill his father and
marry his mother. Jocasta has told him not to worry about the prophecies. The messenger tells
Oedipus that his real parents aren t Polybus and Merope, and that the messenger gave Oedipus to a
couple when the shepherd offered him an abandoned baby. Oedipus wants to know more about his
birth which is a result of him being stubborn. Jocasta wants him to stop. At first, the shepherd doesn t

The Metric Division Case
The Metric Division Case
Midterm Case
I. Diagnosis
After having carefully read the Metric Division Case, and having well in mind the Open Systems
Model exposed by Cummings and Worley in The Essentials of Organization Development and
Change, I think that as an OD professional I would choose to examine this case at the Group Level.
Throughout the text, it seems pretty clear that the division and the staff encounter some problems that
are typically related to the design component of the Open System Model at the group level.
If we carefully analyse the Metric Division issues, we can clearly identify that the major issues are
located at the group level. goal clarity , which describes the extent to which group understands ...

A larger issue raised during the interviews is the problem encountered during meetings. A lot of staff
members were complaining that meetings were often ineffective in the way they were organized.
Regarding that matters, staff members highlight the fact that they rarely solve any issues during
meetings Meetings seem to be a waste of time in terms of moving the business ahead . It appears to be
mainly due to the lack of organization and agenda during meetings. Conversation often last for ever
without specifically speaking about the problems per say.
We said that Task Structure was equivalent to the way the group s work is designed. Meetings are
supposed to help the group s work to be designed. The problem really is that there is no structure
enabling the group s work to be designed. Staff meetings are apparently not structured enough. No
systematic approach is clearly set which adds another hindrance to the already too large staff member
s amount. As no structure is really present when conducting meetings, priorities of issues are often
blurry and no solutions clearly emerge.
Minor and minor issues are addressed with almost the same importance; everybody is allowed to talk
which inevitably leads to a total confusion and therefore a clear lack of effectiveness.
A reduce amount of people within staffs, a better organized and structured meeting should help the
division to better solve its current

Teaching Is Complicated, Not Simple Essay
Professional Capital:
Transforming Teaching in Every School

Reviewed by: Alexis Whitehorn, University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, ND
Teaching today is complicated, not simple a simple sentence from Hargreaves and Fullan s book
Professional Capital: Transforming Teaching in Every School that summarizes what education is about
in today s world (79). The book takes readers into the realm of teaching and the expectations of today
s educational standards. The authors provide examples of how education has changed and challenge
educational leaders to help lead the way through building what they call professional capitalism.
Unlike the business world that focuses on quick returns, professional capital in education recognizes
that education is a long term investment. One cannot simply invest in new technology, new
curriculum, new teachers and expect an increase in student achievement overnight. The process of
creating an education that focuses on student achievement takes time and relies on the professional
capital of teachers. That means investing in the future by investing in human capital from preschool to
high school to the teachers and all staff that work within the schools. Throughout this book,
Hargreaves and Fullan deliver compelling evidence that education in the United States and England
are failing their students by not allowing teachers to have the professional

Use of Bathroom Scenes in the Film Pulp Fiction Essay
Bathrooms are filthy. They are grimy, soiled porcelain wastelands swarming with harmful bacteria and
human waste. And they re one of Quentin Tarantino s favorite tools to use on the big screen. If one
were to study the history of American media, he or she may notice that bathrooms are scarcely
pictured. In fact, it wasn t until the 1960 release of Alfred Hitchcock s Psycho that a toilet was shown
in cinema. The featured toilet caused quite a stir among critics, and became a symbol of American
ethics. Quentin recognized the subject of morality that resided in the use of bathrooms and used it to
his advantage. In his 1994 release, Pulp Fiction, Quentin frequently uses the bathroom to make the
viewer question his or her ethical views. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Vince panics and after a moment of thought decides to bring her to his dealer s house for advice. It
seems at first like a valiant effort to save the woman s life, but the audience has to wonder, Why not
bring her to the hospital? It seems as though Vince is selfishly trying to protect himself from the legal
repercussions of his illegal actions. Instead of bringing proper care to the comatose woman, he shies
away from the hospital and risks Mia s life by driving her to a house lacking medical staff and proper
knowledge. His lack of compassion for Mia becomes even more apparent in the manner with which he
drags the woman around. At one point he literally drops her on the ground so he can argue with his
dealer. Though it is up to interpretation, I believe Vince was taking only the necessary actions to save
his own reputation and career. The next occasion in which the bathroom brings forth a questioning of
ethics occurs when Vincent Vega and Jules Winfield confront Brett over Wallace s briefcase. While the
two are interrogating and humiliating Brett, a fourth character remains hidden in the apartment
bathroom, plotting a heroic shooting of the two henchmen. I found it interesting that by this point the
audience still sides with the two gangsters over the man whose friends are being murdered outside.
When the hidden character busts open the bathroom door and unleashes

Colin Singleton Character Analysis
Author s purpose John Green s main purpose in writing this novel was to say it s okay to not know
who you are. Colin Singleton was seventeen and panicking because he doesn t know who he is. He
just got dumped his nineteenth Katherine and has fallen into a depression, Colin Singleton is nothing
but a brain without a Katherine by his side. Colin finds out that just because he s a former child
prodigy, that doesn t mean he s going to be a genius in his adult years to come. He has trouble
accepting that because he wants to be remembered as someone important.
Major Characters To begin, at the start of the novel Colin Singleton has dated nineteen girls named
Katherine, because girls named Katherine were his type . He has also been dumped by all of these
Katherine s, except number three. Then, at the end of the novel he s dating a girl named Lindsey , not
Katherine. Which is probably his eureka moment that he s been looking for ever since he was a little
boy. That s probably the biggest character change in this book.
Major Theme The overall theme of the book is finding yourself and who you are. There are several
small themes that are seen throughout the book, one of those is love and another is being remembered.
Colin makes it a priority to have a Katherine because without one, he doesn t know how to function
correctly. Without a Katherine he doesn t even know who he is. He starts having trouble finding
himself after he gets dumped by Katherine number nineteen.

Speed Loss Lab Report
RECONSTRUCTION:
Pre Crash:
On 05 25 2015 at approximately 1940 hours, Vehicle 1 was westbound on County Road 672, east of
Dupree Road. The driver of Vehicle 1, for reasons unknown, drove off the north side of CR 672 and
onto a grassy shoulder. Vehicle 1 drove approximately 229 feet through the grass before he returned to
the roadway. In returning to the roadway, Driver 1 overcorrected his steering and continued in a
southwest direction across both lanes of CR 672, for approximately 76 feet, as Vehicle 1 rotated
slightly in a counterclockwise direction. As Vehicle 1 left the south road edge, Driver 1 again tried to
overcorrect and began to rotate in a clockwise direction, as he drove onto the grassy shoulder.

I used Limpert s analysis of a rotating vehicle for the distance of 76 feet. The result of this speed loss
was less than 1 mile per hour in the overall speed loss of Vehicle 1 and was not factored into the
overall speed loss for Vehicle 1.
After leaving the south side of the roadway, and driving onto a grass shoulder, Vehicle 1 began to
rotate in a clockwise direction, for a distance of approximately 45.16 feet. To determine the speed loss
over this distance, the percentage of braking of Vehicle 1 in relation to the rotation angle, must be
considered.
I utilized the coefficient of friction values based on skid testing conducted by the Institute of Police
Technology and Management, (IPTM). IPTM testing, indicates a coefficient of friction of .90 1.50 for
a vehicle furrowing.
For this speed analysis, I used Limpert s analysis of a rotating vehicle. I utilized the sine value of the
angle determined by the path of travel of Vehicle 1 versus the angle of approach at measured distances
during the rotation. In conjunction with the standard speed loss equation, the sine value is applied to
the coefficient of friction value. The result based on this analysis is a speed loss range of 22.85 mph to
29.50 miles per hour during

was sent to work in Tampa were he again abused at least four more young boys (Kleinberg). But most
despicable of all three is the group of Miami residents. This gaggle of disgust consisted of two men in
their mid 50s and two women, ages forty one and twenty five. They made their living off of selling

anonymous tip, the group s control and manipulation of these girls would have continued.
Control, being a major issue for the pedophile, can be in the form money or expensive possessions that
the child might not otherwise be able to attain. Sometimes drugs are used to hook them into returning

that they will pay in jail if incarcerated. For those that do not know, pedophiles are normally badly

Trigger Finger Case Study
Overview
Trigger finger, sometimes called trigger thumb, is a condition that locks a person s finger into a bent
position. Sometimes the finger will then snap straight out, similar to the way a trigger is pulled and
released. It happens when inflammation causes the space around the sheath that protects the tendon to
narrow. In severe cases, the finger cannot be straightened out.
The irritation and inflammation associated with trigger finger disrupts the normal gliding motion of
the tendon as it moves through the sheath. This interference contributes to the trademark bent position
of an affected finger. If the tendon sheath remains irritated for an extended period of time, it can lead
to thickening, scarring, and bumps that further impede

The Reign Of The New World
Throughout the Medieval Ages, there were many political events which deem worthy of
acknowledgement. From the year of 476 to 1500, events ranging from the reign of Charlemagne to
Christopher Columbus s discovery of the New World occurred; without the events occurring in
history, today s society would not be the same as it is today. The world may be ruled under one nation
or many more countries may have formed. The important events which shaped the future include:
Charlemagne s reign, the Crusades, the Hundred Years War, and Christopher Columbus s Voyage. The
first significant political event which occurs between 500 and 1000 A.D. is the reign of Charlemagne.
Bennett states, Charlemagne could be warm and talkative, but he could also be hard and cruel, and his
subjects came to regard him with both admiration and fear (Bennett 89). Charlemagne s character and
attitude are loved by some and unloved by some, but one thing cannot be denied: Charlemagne was
the greatest king in the Medieval Ages. Charlemagne led an empire that was consistently at war with
surrounding nations; the wars were strongly tied to conquests based on Christianity. Charlemagne
prompted his nation to build churches, collect relics, and promote a Christian cultural revival. As
Bennett explains, he had long been attempting to attain a status comparable to that of the rulers of
Byzantium (92). By 813, Charlemagne rules both the Church and the State (Seguin Lecture). One,

Satan As An Epic Hero
Better to reign in hell, than serve in heaven, (I.264) Satan establishes himself as the hero to his people
and can be seen as an epic hero portrayed by Milton s writing. Satan is a non traditional epic hero who
is a hero among the fallen angels, but an enemy to God. Milton focuses on the traditional topic of the
creation of man, but centers the work around Satan. Satan makes himself the hero by finding the
weakness of God to prove to the fallen that he can single handedly succeed. To the fallen he is their
hero and Satan adds to this with his credible rhetoric while he is speaking. Milton writes Satan as a
powerful leader who inspires his people with speech, he creates a new heaven in hell, and whose
complex journey succeeds to the fallen, which makes the reader see him as an epic hero. When the
name Satan comes to mind it is an insulting description of a person or an evil temptation, and Milton
writes in Satan as the hero of his essay; giving more background to him than the traditionally holy.
Satan was the first angel created by God to have a sinful thought and fall from heaven. Being the first
to fall from heaven to hell, it makes Satan figuratively the ruler or king and he uses this at his
advantage when speaking to his people, Satan in three separate roles an archangel, before and during
the war in heaven; a Prince of Devils in the council in hell; a serpent tempter in the garden, (Carey
162). To play these different roles Satan uses his manipulative and powerful

Electricity Is A Natural Phenomenon
Electricity is the directional flow of electrons between atoms. Electricity is a natural phenomenon and
is one of the most commonly utilized forms of energy. Electricity is used in order to do work, such as
generating heat and light. Electricity is measured in watts. Watts are the measurement of power
(current * voltage). Current is the flow of electrons measured in amperes (Amps). One ampere is the
amount of current when one coulomb (6.25 x 10^18 electrons) of charge moves past a point over one
second. Voltage is the force that causes electrons to move in a circuit. A volt is defined as the
electrostatic difference between two points when one joule of energy is used to move one coulomb of
charge from one point to the other. (NDT Resource Center, 2013) A joule is the measurement of
energy that is used when one watt of power does work for one second (also known as watt seconds).
When measuring electricity in large numbers, the standard unit of measurement is kilowatt hour. This
determines the rate at which energy is being used, and how energy is quantified in the United States.
One kilowatt hour is equivalent to 3,412.14163 British Thermal Units (BTU s). One BTU is the
amount of energy required to heat one pound of water by 1°F (Princeton, 2013).
The current method of energy generation is from burning fossil fuels to generate electricity. However,
this method is inefficient because most of the energy invested in burning fossil fuels is converted into

`` My Dream `` By Brittany Maynard
My dream is that every terminally ill American has access to the choice to die on their own terms with
dignity. Please take an active role to make this a reality (qtd Brittany Maynard Fund ). Brittany
Maynard Diaz, a 29 year old woman who was diagnosed with Glioblastoma and only given six
months to live, turned her tragedy into a legacy when she chose to die with dignity. She became an
advocate for the Compassion and Choices End of Life Consultation or EOLC program by sharing her
story and decision with everyone in America in an effort to help give everyone in her situation the
same options. She believed in dying with dignity for the same basic reasons that many others do;
constitutionally speaking, it is within everyone s individual rights, it is an established medical practice
used all over the world, and no one should be forced to suffer needlessly. After researching her
diagnosed form of cancer and discussing her options with her family, any type of treatment given
would only destroy the quality of life during the time she had left to live. What would you do?
Imagine going to the doctor after numerous, severe headaches. The doctor performs a CT scan that
reveals a rapidly growing brain tumor. The doctor breaks down the information, reveals that the tumor
is a rare form of cancer, and is inoperable. Unfortunately, the doctor also relays the life expectancy
with a cancer this rare and aggressive; a few months at best and those short months will become

How Textiles And Fashion Designers Have Contributed And...
SUSTAINABILITY ESSAY Explore and comment on how textiles and fashion designers have
contributed and approached fundamental issues within ecological design. INTRODUCTION
Ecological design is the sole responsibility of innovation and the creativity of products and objects
that will sustain our society and future societies. It is critical that we change the way sustainable
design is perceived and interpreted, by beginning to develop an understanding of the history and
journey from Green design into Sustainable design as well as looking at the direction in which we
would like it to progress to. This requires a comprehension of what these initial terms mean and how
this relates to their cultural, social and economic context, all of ... Show more content on

Finally, scrutinizing the information to form a conclusive paragraph reevaluating whether future
designers are considering these issues and whether a new sustainable design mentality is evolving.
GREEN, ECOLOGICAL OR SUSTAINABLE Concepts of ecological design are not necessarily new
or modern; it s the nature of re inventing and re visiting that the term is founded upon. But there are
differences between the terms, some more subtle than others. Typically Green design is associated
with getting the environmental message out there to the masses, focusing more on the environmental
issues and looking into plentiful natural resources. The key words being masses and plentiful, instead
of a less is more mentality that starts to be adopted in Ecological design this suggests a substitution of
product to fill that consumerism addiction. Green design became particularly popular in the 1980 s,
due to a foundation built by the environmental movement of the late 60 s and 70 s, which sparked a
growing awareness into environmental issues; it becomes a pinnacle point of where Ecological design
meets the mainstream. In an extract from Ecological Design: A new critique, Pauline Madge (1997,
p.44) informs us that because green encapsulated green politics, current environmental concerns, and
identified them with a specific colour, in an unprecedented way, green design arrived with a ready
made symbolism: green products, green packaging, and numerous books

Enjambment In Poems
I personally agree with the above statement. I strongly think that the theme of journey can also be used
as a metaphor for life choices or the loss of innocence and that metaphor is an extremely vital vessel
of poetry. My comparison, will be targeting three main points, including how the theme of journey
firstly impacts and links in with life choices, secondly the loss of innocence and youth and finally the
strong, yet overlooked, aspect of enjambment.
The two poems , A and B that I will be comparing, in my comparison, are firstly The Road Not Taken ,
by Robert Frost and secondly Geography Lesson , by Brian Patten. In my opinion, these two poems,
share a strong resemblance, through the theme of journey and through many other aspects. ... Show

In poem A, The Road Not Taken, the use of enjambment, is important, because in my opinion, it has a
subtle yet profound effect on the poem. Enjambment is essentially the use of run on lines, to achieve a
certain goal. In my opinion Frost uses run on lines in The Road Not Taken, to expand on the theme of
journey, the endless possibilities of journey itself, and finally to increase the tempo of the poem, which
increases the level of excitement and adrenaline. I believe that he was trying to emphasise the point
that, the journey of life, never comes to an end, but continuous on an endless loop. Examples of such
enjambment can be seen throughout the poem, including the following, Two roads diverged in a
yellow wood, and sorry I could not travel both, and be one traveler , this quote, reinforces my opinions
and thoughts on the endless possibilities spoken by the poet. Secondly the poet writes, Yet knowing
how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back . As I see it, in this quote, the use of
run on lines, also adds feelings, of excitement and the rush of adrenaline , as the poet feels that he
possibly will not be able to return to the road not taken, yet still rather confidently chooses one, with if
I could guess, butterflies in his

How Does The Writer Create Atmosphere In The Novel The Woman In Black and the Short Story The
Signalman?
The Woman In Black and The Signalman are both of the same genre horror/ghost stories. This genre is
ideal to create a distinct atmosphere for the reader to be drawn into. The atmosphere the author creates
for the reader is done so by mainly 2 things. Firstly, the characters, descriptions of supernatural
presence, disbelief of the character or narrator and their uncertainty or confusion of conflict.
Secondly, the setting, the type of setting chosen is very important and the way in which the author
describes it also.
When we pick up either of these stories we come to expect certain features from this genre. Both ghost

Specific words such as watchfulness and unusually precipitous are used to convey feeling to the
reader. Descriptions of the setting and character s feelings along with the narrator s reaction to all of
these play a crucial part in creating the atmosphere wanted by Dickens. There is a contrast from
nothing; silence and stillness, to something; noise and movement.
The story starts with a shout Halloa! Below there! This is a sudden noise and disturbs the silence.
Dickens describes the shadows from the sunset as a violent pulsation ; the language used here creates
an element of strangeness as if the author is creating almost a horror effect for the reader. The
signalman continues not to respond, this makes the narrator feel uncomfortable because he knows he
is being ignored. The cutting was extremely deep this description suggests danger within the setting.
There is a distinct description of the signalman; again the language used, solitary , depressing makes
the reader feel uncomfortable because it seems the signalman is not very sociable, barbarous he even
says. The author says there is a
striking chill but this does not necessarily mean it is cold; he may be referring to the atmosphere
surrounding the narrator. The author also creates atmosphere by keeping the reader is suspense at

Essay On The Tabernacle
Chapter 7
The Tabernacle of the Old Testament The words tabernacle and temple can be confusing; let me in a
simple way explain the difference. Firstly the tabernacle is the English translation of the Hebrew word
‫ָּכן‬ ‫ְׁש‬ ‫ִמ‬ mishkan , which simply means residence or dwelling place. According to the Hebrew Bible this
was a portable dwelling place for the presence of God, from the time of the Exodus to the conquering
of the Promise Land (Canaan). In contrast the temple is the English translation of the Hebrew word
‫יָכל‬‫ֵה‬ heykal , meaning a large public building. Unlike the tabernacle, the temple was stationary and
also called the palace of Jehovah . It was an elaborately ordained holy place where the people
congregated to worship God.
I will focus this chapter on the original tabernacle, which was God s idea, initiative, design and plan
constructed by Moses. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the building of the tabernacle the people came together in obedience to the Word of God given
through Moses. I will not go into the specific measurements of the tabernacle, but I will say its total
square area was 7,500sq.ft. I will explore the three compartments of the tabernacle, the contents that
are within them, and also the connection between the tabernacle and its relevance to worship in Moses
time and how it is symbolic of today s worship.
There are three compartments within the tabernacle: the Outer Court where the brazen altar and the
washbasin are, then walking through a veiled curtain was the Holy Place (also known as the inner
court) where the menorah, the table of showbread and the altar of incense was placed, and finally the
Holy of Holies where the ark of the covenant was found.

Immanuel Kant On Free Will
Do humans truly have free will or are their lives completely predetermined? This question of free will
has and will always remain to be a place for argument in philosophy. Many of the great philosophers
attempted to answer this question, but none did as well of a job as Immanuel Kant. He lays the basis
of his argument in his Prolegomena to any Future Metaphysics. Kant writes this prolegomena in
response to David Hume s of skepticism, and therefore, Kant is attempting to more firmly ground
metaphysics. In the introduction Kant says, I openly confess my recollection of David Hume was the
very thing which many years ago first interrupted my dogmatic slumber and gave my investigations in
the field of speculative philosophy a quite new ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When broken down Kant is appealing to both his thesis and his antithesis; he is agreeing with both.
Kant agrees that humans are beings of nature and therefore they follow the rules of nature, but he also
is accepting his thesis by saying that they are free. But in the former case reason is the cause of these
laws of nature, and therefore free; in the latter, the effects follow according to mere natural laws of
sensibility (Prolegomena). Instead of rejecting the laws of nature and saying that humans are free of
all ties, he is agreeing that certain things do govern the way in which humans act. Furthermore, he
suggest that Freedom is therefore no hindrance to natural law in appearances: neither does this law
abrogate the freedom of the practical use of reason, which is connected with things in themselves, as
determining grounds (Prolegomena). Regardless of natural law humans are free and neither one
interferes with the other. His prolegomena is not the only work where Kant addresses free will. In his
work, Groundwork for the Metaphysics of Morals, Kant suggests that morality is based on the concept
of freedom. He states, A rational being must always regard himself as law giving in a realm of ends
that is possibly only through the freedom of the will, and this holds whether he belongs to the realm as
a member or as sovereign (Groundwork). Therefore mankind must

Analysis Of Herman Melville s Typee
In much of what we identify with in our everyday lives has to do with the relationships we have with
one another. These relationships are ultimately embedded into our memory for basically the rest of our
lives, and with some shape or form, shape us to who we are today. These relations, similarly have to
do with faces, actions and personal experiences that we have never been exposed to before. This type
of exposure is apparent in Herman Melville s Typee, where identity is of critical importance to that of
Tommo, the narrator, along with the tribe that he encounters while stranded on the island. There are
numerous instance as to where Tommo questions his moral and somewhat physical identity in Typee.
These events such as Tommos decision to tattoo himself is a major identity crisis because it s not
something he, nor his Western culture is really exposed to or familiar with. The Typee practices and
societal structures displayed by Melville in Typee allows the reader in some case, to compare and
contrast how Western civilization and the other [Typee] reaffirm identity. In a sense Tommo and his
decision, by the end of the novel, really allows the reader to understand what creates and helps
maintain identity for ones self. Melville, in the beginning, introduces Tommo as an individual that
prefers to be unidentified or wants to be invisible to others, but wants to be someone whom takes
pleasure in the observation of others. Tommo, in Marquesan, does mean to

Cross culturally fertility and childbearing are a major...
Cross culturally fertility and childbearing are a major concern due to the significance of passing on
heritage, family names, and values to the next generation. Additionally, in many cultures the children
are responsible for the care of their parents when they become elderly. Infertility is a universal concern
in both Western and developing countries. It is estimated that up to 168 million people across the
globe are affected with infertility. The bulk of these cases reside within developing countries (Vayena
Rowe, 2002). When couples are having trouble conceiving a child it is a source of distress for both
partners (Helman, 2007, p. 176). This distress can be manifested in a variety of ways that adversely
affect the family structure. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, Whitehouse and Hollos (2014) identify different classifications of mother s, which are
culturally defined as infertile. There is the childless woman who fits the traditional definition of
infertile by never having been pregnant or birthed a live child. The childless mother is a woman who
has birthed a child but that child then died. The subfertile woman is a woman who has not birthed
enough children or they have not had enough children of one gender (i.e. sons). While the subfertile
women are able to participate in the women s meetings they are still lower in the hierarchy of mothers.
Though they do not meet the biomedical qualifications for infertile, the subfertile women can still face
similar socioeconomic difficulties of the women who do (Whitehouse Hollos, 2014). In order to
understand the infertility cross culturally, it is imperative that we know how each culture perceives
and deals with the problem.
Western ideas about infertility can vary a great deal from other cultures. There is a growing culture in
western nations of childlessness being a choice (Balen Inhorn, 2002). This can help eliminate the
social stigma of not having children because it is difficult to determine from the outside if this is a
voluntary choice. Though, westerners can be affected just as much by infertility, the increasingly
medicalized view of infertility allow for reproductive technologies to be better accepted (Balen

The Colony Collapse Disorder Affecting The Worldwide Bee
The Colony Collapse Disorder Affecting the Worldwide Bee Population
As the Belgian writer Maurice Maeterlinck once said: If the bee disappeared off the surface of the
globe then man would only have four years of life left. No more bees, no more pollination, no more
plants, no more animals, no more man. The abovementioned quote that was used by the famous
astrophysicist Albert Einstein many years later proves that the importance of honeybees in our
ecosystems is a known fact since the beginning of the 20th Century. It has been 15 years that the
worldwide bee population s decline, the colony collapse disorder (CCD), is at an alarming rate, which
concerns the whole scientific domain. Many companies, environmentalist groups and ... Show more

Another research, conducted by Simon Potts, is also critical about the disappearance of bees, claiming
that they are responsible for 80% of the fruits pollination and 75% of the crops around the world and
that a possible extinction is dangerous because pollination would totally rely on butterflies. However,
the latter states that there are no clear studies on the impact of pollination on crop yields so it is not
possible to claim that crops growth will become unsustainable if there ever is an extinction. He finally
qualified the economic value of bee s pollination, by estimating their production to 253 billion of
euros. Therefore, an extinction would lead to a global market crash and influence the economy of
many countries that rely on agriculture as a predominant economic activity. Potts work allows
understanding that the current honeybee crisis is not only dangerous for mankind because of its
environmental consequences, but also for the economic impact that would occur.
Many researchers decided to take a different stance than Potts and Daftardar, by examining the
multiple factors of the decline of the honeybee population. For example, Natalia Sanchez explains in
her article that, historically, scientists were looking for the cause of the bee s sudden poor immune
system after the Israeli Acute Paralysis Virus (IAPV) was blamed for the global colony collapse
disorder.

King Kamehameha Among the great islands of Hawaii there was a prophecy foretold by one of the

Management Plan For A Company Essay
Currently, ECA has reduced the IT staff due to an overall corporate restructuring. With a reduction in
staff, Energy Corporation could use Rapid Application Development to build and deploy applications
quickly without the technical expertise needed for traditional programming and development. If
applications can be created with little effort and provide the business users and IT staff with the
capabilities to make changes with just as little effort, then Energy Corporation of America can
continue to keep a reduced size IT staff as well as reduced business user staff. The applications being
built could still provide value to the company without a long development time. Energy Corporation
of America would not need to hire new, experienced programmers that require higher salaries, instead
they could hire few employees and train them on the development application software quickly and let
them begin to use the software themselves. This in turn could also help with some of the
miscommunication between the IT department and the business user. Better collaboration between IT
and business users could be gained by adopting and utilizing a low code development platform.
Application developers can quickly build and deploy applications to allow for feedback for the
business users. With quick feedback, changes can be made and functional application can be
redeployed.

The World Of 1984 Scared Me
Total surveillance. Complete obedience. Absolute authority. The world of 1984 scared me when I first
read the book last year. Never before had a book made me think so deeply about individuality, society,
and government. 1984, a manifestation of my nightmares, described a totalitarian police state of
resolute submission. The horror came when I looked upon our own society, and Big Brother glared
back at me. We live in a world where every phone call, every text, every search, and every email can
be monitored and recorded by our own government. The National Security Agency, or the NSA, was
originally proposed to monitor threats outside of the United States, but the NSA began domestic
surveillance shortly after the horrific terror attacks of 2001. This cleared the way for warrantless,
unlawful tracking of American citizens. Initially, the program collected only the data of high risk
individuals in America with direct links to Al Qaeda. Now, however, government data collection has
spread to millions of otherwise innocent citizens. Government surveillance is a direct violation of the
privacy of American citizens that is dangerous, immoral, and unlawful.
It is important to realize the dangers of government surveillance; personal information containing
sensitive details about an individual s private life put in the wrong hands or otherwise used incorrectly
could potentially have disastrous repercussions. In today s interconnected world, everything that is

Police Officers And Their Image Of A Police Officer
Police officers were implemented into society to be protectors of the public and to serve the
community whenever they were in need of help or justice. They are here to enforce the laws of the
land and to keep society safe from any harm. The police are suppose to be our unsung heroes. With
this knowledge, citizens should respect these individuals and trust the officers to implement justice
and protection. However, not all citizens respect the law enforcement or trust them. Many would like
to see police officers like this, but there are a lot that happens in society that make s one rethink their
image of a police officer. There are many people in the community that have negaitve attitudes
towards the police and see them as corrupt or brutal (Brown Benedict, 2002, p. 551). The individuals
that are unfavorable towards the police are those from a low social statues, minorities like blacks,
from areas of high crime, single or divorced or widowed individuals, and especially juveniles.
Juveniles that have had high contact with officers, minorities, tolerance to illegal behavior, and low
socioeconomic group status believe that they are treated unfairly, targeted by the police, and believe
that they were wrongly accused (Janeksela, 1999, p. 314). Juvenile attitudes toward the police is an
important issue to examine because these children are the next generation and outline the perception
of authority to future generations and a negative attitude towards police can lead the youth

The Death Of Ivan Ilyich By Leo Tolstoy
To make a good story it should start with an essential list of components. The opening situation,
conflict, complication, climax, suspense, denouement, and then conclusion. Good authors and writers
sometimes mix up these ingredients and add some spice. This is very much the case in The Death of
Ivan Ilyich by Leo Tolstoy
Opening Situation
Ivan Ilych s death notification in the Gazette and funeral then told the story of Ivan s life.
The main theme of the story is Ivan s Ilynch s battle with an illness and then his death, and with this
Leo Tolstoy setups up the story. Tolstoy reveals to us Ivan s entire life story up to the point when he
becomes sick. We become acquainted with Ivan s, desires and habits, his friends and family, and his
situation. The beginning chapter even though it theoretically happens after he has already passed away
also aids the setup. It provides us a more telling picture of what the people in Ivan s social circle are
like. We also get a better sense of what Ivan himself was like before he became ill, recognizing Peter
Ivanovich and his friends are similar to how Ivan used to be. Complication
The doctors procedures didn t work. He s becoming worried that his condition might has been getting
worse since the beginning, but it takes a bit of time for it to hit him that he might just die. This takes
place in a powerful moment of realization, when Ivan stops thinking of his illness in medical way and
starts thinking about it in terms of

  • 2. Essay on Shakespeare s Macbeth as a Tragic Hero Macbeth as a Tragic Hero According to the Greek philosopher Aristotle, The best tragic plot moves the hero from prosperity to misfortune, occasioned not by depravity, but by some great mistake he makes. The plot of Macbeth follows these basic guidelines; throughout the play we follow the path of the main character as his life is torn apart as a result of the colossal mistake he makes when he kills Duncan. It is for this and the many ensuing reasons that we can say that Macbeth accurately portrays the image of a tragic hero as outlined by Aristotle. Aristotle s first guideline for an effective tragic hero is someone that is basically good. While Macbeth does not exactly make sound moral decisions, toward the beginning of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Worthy Gentleman! The way they are speaking portrays him as a normal soldier who helped win the war, not with the help of godly powers, but with simple bravery. He is an average gentleman who wins the affection of his king by his bravery, and because of this simplicity he reflects the normality of a real person. Further on in the play he opens up more when he says, I have almost forgot the taste of fears... At this point in the play the audience has almost lost sight of Macbeth as a real person, his cold blooded murders disgust us so much that that he becomes something too bile to possibly be human. We believe that no human could possibly act with the harsh brutality that Macbeth acts with, and so becomes in imagination, some evil external force that can no longer be related to as a human individual. However, when Macbeth says these words, he is opening himself up to the fact that he is still human. The audience realizes that since he can still feel fear, which is a human emotion, he must still be human. For a brief moment the audience connects with Macbeth, and there is a sense of pity for the tragic hero because both parties realize that the end is near in sight. For a brief second we forget about his murderous deeds, and based on the belief ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. The Metric Division Case The Metric Division Case Midterm Case I. Diagnosis After having carefully read the Metric Division Case, and having well in mind the Open Systems Model exposed by Cummings and Worley in The Essentials of Organization Development and Change, I think that as an OD professional I would choose to examine this case at the Group Level. Throughout the text, it seems pretty clear that the division and the staff encounter some problems that are typically related to the design component of the Open System Model at the group level. If we carefully analyse the Metric Division issues, we can clearly identify that the major issues are located at the group level. goal clarity , which describes the extent to which group understands ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A larger issue raised during the interviews is the problem encountered during meetings. A lot of staff members were complaining that meetings were often ineffective in the way they were organized. Regarding that matters, staff members highlight the fact that they rarely solve any issues during meetings Meetings seem to be a waste of time in terms of moving the business ahead . It appears to be mainly due to the lack of organization and agenda during meetings. Conversation often last for ever without specifically speaking about the problems per say. We said that Task Structure was equivalent to the way the group s work is designed. Meetings are supposed to help the group s work to be designed. The problem really is that there is no structure enabling the group s work to be designed. Staff meetings are apparently not structured enough. No systematic approach is clearly set which adds another hindrance to the already too large staff member s amount. As no structure is really present when conducting meetings, priorities of issues are often blurry and no solutions clearly emerge. Minor and minor issues are addressed with almost the same importance; everybody is allowed to talk which inevitably leads to a total confusion and therefore a clear lack of effectiveness. A reduce amount of people within staffs, a better organized and structured meeting should help the division to better solve its current ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Teaching Is Complicated, Not Simple Essay Professional Capital: Transforming Teaching in Every School By Andy Hargreaves and Michael Fullan, New York: Teachers College Press, Abingdon: Routledge, 2012 Reviewed by: Alexis Whitehorn, University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, ND Teaching today is complicated, not simple a simple sentence from Hargreaves and Fullan s book Professional Capital: Transforming Teaching in Every School that summarizes what education is about in today s world (79). The book takes readers into the realm of teaching and the expectations of today s educational standards. The authors provide examples of how education has changed and challenge educational leaders to help lead the way through building what they call professional capitalism. Unlike the business world that focuses on quick returns, professional capital in education recognizes that education is a long term investment. One cannot simply invest in new technology, new curriculum, new teachers and expect an increase in student achievement overnight. The process of creating an education that focuses on student achievement takes time and relies on the professional capital of teachers. That means investing in the future by investing in human capital from preschool to high school to the teachers and all staff that work within the schools. Throughout this book, Hargreaves and Fullan deliver compelling evidence that education in the United States and England are failing their students by not allowing teachers to have the professional ... • 7. Use of Bathroom Scenes in the Film Pulp Fiction Essay Bathrooms are filthy. They are grimy, soiled porcelain wastelands swarming with harmful bacteria and human waste. And they re one of Quentin Tarantino s favorite tools to use on the big screen. If one were to study the history of American media, he or she may notice that bathrooms are scarcely pictured. In fact, it wasn t until the 1960 release of Alfred Hitchcock s Psycho that a toilet was shown in cinema. The featured toilet caused quite a stir among critics, and became a symbol of American ethics. Vince panics and after a moment of thought decides to bring her to his dealer s house for advice. It seems at first like a valiant effort to save the woman s life, but the audience has to wonder, Why not bring her to the hospital? It seems as though Vince is selfishly trying to protect himself from the legal repercussions of his illegal actions. Instead of bringing proper care to the comatose woman, he shies away from the hospital and risks Mia s life by driving her to a house lacking medical staff and proper knowledge. His lack of compassion for Mia becomes even more apparent in the manner with which he drags the woman around. At one point he literally drops her on the ground so he can argue with his dealer. Though it is up to interpretation, I believe Vince was taking only the necessary actions to save his own reputation and career. The next occasion in which the bathroom brings forth a questioning of ethics occurs when Vincent Vega and Jules Winfield confront Brett over Wallace s briefcase. While the two are interrogating and humiliating Brett, a fourth character remains hidden in the apartment bathroom, plotting a heroic shooting of the two henchmen. I found it interesting that by this point the audience still sides with the two gangsters over the man whose friends are being murdered outside. Vehicle 1 drove approximately 229 feet through the grass before he returned to the roadway. In returning to the roadway, Driver 1 overcorrected his steering and continued in a southwest direction across both lanes of CR 672, for approximately 76 feet, as Vehicle 1 rotated slightly in a counterclockwise direction. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I used Limpert s analysis of a rotating vehicle for the distance of 76 feet. The result of this speed loss was less than 1 mile per hour in the overall speed loss of Vehicle 1 and was not factored into the overall speed loss for Vehicle 1. After leaving the south side of the roadway, and driving onto a grass shoulder, Vehicle 1 began to rotate in a clockwise direction, for a distance of approximately 45.16 feet. To determine the speed loss over this distance, the percentage of braking of Vehicle 1 in relation to the rotation angle, must be considered. I utilized the coefficient of friction values based on skid testing conducted by the Institute of Police Technology and Management, (IPTM). IPTM testing, indicates a coefficient of friction of .90 1.50 for a vehicle furrowing. For this speed analysis, I used Limpert s analysis of a rotating vehicle. I utilized the sine value of the angle determined by the path of travel of Vehicle 1 versus the angle of approach at measured distances during the rotation. In conjunction with the standard speed loss equation, the sine value is applied to the coefficient of friction value. The result based on this analysis is a speed loss range of 22.85 mph to 29.50 miles per hour during ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Bennett states, Charlemagne could be warm and talkative, but he could also be hard and cruel, and his subjects came to regard him with both admiration and fear (Bennett 89). Charlemagne s character and attitude are loved by some and unloved by some, but one thing cannot be denied: Charlemagne was the greatest king in the Medieval Ages. Charlemagne led an empire that was consistently at war with surrounding nations; the wars were strongly tied to conquests based on Christianity. Charlemagne prompted his nation to build churches, collect relics, and promote a Christian cultural revival. Satan is a non traditional epic hero who is a hero among the fallen angels, but an enemy to God. Milton focuses on the traditional topic of the creation of man, but centers the work around Satan. Satan makes himself the hero by finding the weakness of God to prove to the fallen that he can single handedly succeed. To the fallen he is their hero and Satan adds to this with his credible rhetoric while he is speaking. Milton writes Satan as a powerful leader who inspires his people with speech, he creates a new heaven in hell, and whose complex journey succeeds to the fallen, which makes the reader see him as an epic hero. When the name Satan comes to mind it is an insulting description of a person or an evil temptation, and Milton writes in Satan as the hero of his essay; giving more background to him than the traditionally holy. Satan was the first angel created by God to have a sinful thought and fall from heaven. Being the first to fall from heaven to hell, it makes Satan figuratively the ruler or king and he uses this at his advantage when speaking to his people, Satan in three separate roles an archangel, before and during the war in heaven; a Prince of Devils in the council in hell; a serpent tempter in the garden, (Carey 162). • 20. Electricity Is A Natural Phenomenon Electricity is the directional flow of electrons between atoms. Electricity is a natural phenomenon and is one of the most commonly utilized forms of energy. Electricity is used in order to do work, such as generating heat and light. Electricity is measured in watts. Watts are the measurement of power (current * voltage). Current is the flow of electrons measured in amperes (Amps). One ampere is the amount of current when one coulomb (6.25 x 10^18 electrons) of charge moves past a point over one second. Voltage is the force that causes electrons to move in a circuit. A volt is defined as the electrostatic difference between two points when one joule of energy is used to move one coulomb of charge from one point to the other. (NDT Resource Center, 2013) A joule is the measurement of energy that is used when one watt of power does work for one second (also known as watt seconds). When measuring electricity in large numbers, the standard unit of measurement is kilowatt hour. This determines the rate at which energy is being used, and how energy is quantified in the United States. One kilowatt hour is equivalent to 3,412.14163 British Thermal Units (BTU s). One BTU is the amount of energy required to heat one pound of water by 1°F (Princeton, 2013). The current method of energy generation is from burning fossil fuels to generate electricity. In poem A, The Road Not Taken, the use of enjambment, is important, because in my opinion, it has a subtle yet profound effect on the poem. Enjambment is essentially the use of run on lines, to achieve a certain goal. In my opinion Frost uses run on lines in The Road Not Taken, to expand on the theme of journey, the endless possibilities of journey itself, and finally to increase the tempo of the poem, which increases the level of excitement and adrenaline. I believe that he was trying to emphasise the point that, the journey of life, never comes to an end, but continuous on an endless loop. Examples of such enjambment can be seen throughout the poem, including the following, Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, and sorry I could not travel both, and be one traveler , this quote, reinforces my opinions and thoughts on the endless possibilities spoken by the poet. Secondly the poet writes, Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back . Firstly the tabernacle is the English translation of the Hebrew word ‫ָּכן‬ ‫ְׁש‬ ‫ִמ‬ mishkan , which simply means residence or dwelling place. According to the Hebrew Bible this was a portable dwelling place for the presence of God, from the time of the Exodus to the conquering of the Promise Land (Canaan). In contrast the temple is the English translation of the Hebrew word ‫יָכל‬‫ֵה‬ heykal , meaning a large public building. This question of free will has and will always remain to be a place for argument in philosophy. Many of the great philosophers attempted to answer this question, but none did as well of a job as Immanuel Kant. He lays the basis of his argument in his Prolegomena to any Future Metaphysics. Kant writes this prolegomena in response to David Hume s of skepticism, and therefore, Kant is attempting to more firmly ground metaphysics. Kant agrees that humans are beings of nature and therefore they follow the rules of nature, but he also is accepting his thesis by saying that they are free. But in the former case reason is the cause of these laws of nature, and therefore free; in the latter, the effects follow according to mere natural laws of sensibility (Prolegomena). Instead of rejecting the laws of nature and saying that humans are free of all ties, he is agreeing that certain things do govern the way in which humans act. Furthermore, he suggest that Freedom is therefore no hindrance to natural law in appearances: neither does this law abrogate the freedom of the practical use of reason, which is connected with things in themselves, as determining grounds (Prolegomena). Regardless of natural law humans are free and neither one interferes with the other. His prolegomena is not the only work where Kant addresses free will. In his work, Groundwork for the Metaphysics of Morals, Kant suggests that morality is based on the concept of freedom. • 30. Analysis Of Herman Melville s Typee In much of what we identify with in our everyday lives has to do with the relationships we have with one another. These relationships are ultimately embedded into our memory for basically the rest of our lives, and with some shape or form, shape us to who we are today. These relations, similarly have to do with faces, actions and personal experiences that we have never been exposed to before. This type of exposure is apparent in Herman Melville s Typee, where identity is of critical importance to that of Tommo, the narrator, along with the tribe that he encounters while stranded on the island. There are numerous instance as to where Tommo questions his moral and somewhat physical identity in Typee. These events such as Tommos decision to tattoo himself is a major identity crisis because it s not something he, nor his Western culture is really exposed to or familiar with. The Typee practices and societal structures displayed by Melville in Typee allows the reader in some case, to compare and contrast how Western civilization and the other [Typee] reaffirm identity. In a sense Tommo and his decision, by the end of the novel, really allows the reader to understand what creates and helps maintain identity for ones self. Melville, in the beginning, introduces Tommo as an individual that prefers to be unidentified or wants to be invisible to others, but wants to be someone whom takes pleasure in the observation of others. Tommo, in Marquesan, does mean to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Cross culturally fertility and childbearing are a major concern due to the significance of passing on heritage, family names, and values to the next generation. Additionally, in many cultures the children are responsible for the care of their parents when they become elderly. Infertility is a universal concern in both Western and developing countries. It is estimated that up to 168 million people across the globe are affected with infertility. The bulk of these cases reside within developing countries (Vayena Rowe, 2002). When couples are having trouble conceiving a child it is a source of distress for both partners (Helman, 2007, p. 176). This distress can be manifested in a variety of ways that adversely affect the family structure. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Additionally, Whitehouse and Hollos (2014) identify different classifications of mother s, which are culturally defined as infertile. There is the childless woman who fits the traditional definition of infertile by never having been pregnant or birthed a live child. The childless mother is a woman who has birthed a child but that child then died. The subfertile woman is a woman who has not birthed enough children or they have not had enough children of one gender (i.e. sons). While the subfertile women are able to participate in the women s meetings they are still lower in the hierarchy of mothers. Though they do not meet the biomedical qualifications for infertile, the subfertile women can still face similar socioeconomic difficulties of the women who do (Whitehouse Hollos, 2014). In order to understand the infertility cross culturally, it is imperative that we know how each culture perceives and deals with the problem. Western ideas about infertility can vary a great deal from other cultures. There is a growing culture in western nations of childlessness being a choice (Balen Inhorn, 2002). This can help eliminate the social stigma of not having children because it is difficult to determine from the outside if this is a voluntary choice. Though, westerners can be affected just as much by infertility, the increasingly medicalized view of infertility allow for reproductive technologies to be better accepted (Balen Inhorn, ... For instance, the content of media usually reports the positive sides of the European things such as places, enviroment, and behaves instead of the negative sides. More clearly, the mass media constantly extols the Europeans among Asians. Therefore, this brainwashing praises from media improves the social status of Europeans in different places, especially in Asian places. 3. The Colony Collapse Disorder Affecting The Worldwide Bee The Colony Collapse Disorder Affecting the Worldwide Bee Population As the Belgian writer Maurice Maeterlinck once said: If the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe then man would only have four years of life left. No more bees, no more pollination, no more plants, no more animals, no more man. The abovementioned quote that was used by the famous astrophysicist Albert Einstein many years later proves that the importance of honeybees in our ecosystems is a known fact since the beginning of the 20th Century. It has been 15 years that the worldwide bee population s decline, the colony collapse disorder (CCD), is at an alarming rate, which concerns the whole scientific domain. Many companies, environmentalist groups and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another research, conducted by Simon Potts, is also critical about the disappearance of bees, claiming that they are responsible for 80% of the fruits pollination and 75% of the crops around the world and that a possible extinction is dangerous because pollination would totally rely on butterflies. However, the latter states that there are no clear studies on the impact of pollination on crop yields so it is not possible to claim that crops growth will become unsustainable if there ever is an extinction. He finally qualified the economic value of bee s pollination, by estimating their production to 253 billion of euros. Therefore, an extinction would lead to a global market crash and influence the economy of many countries that rely on agriculture as a predominant economic activity. Potts work allows understanding that the current honeybee crisis is not only dangerous for mankind because of its environmental consequences, but also for the economic impact that would occur. Many researchers decided to take a different stance than Potts and Daftardar, by examining the multiple factors of the decline of the honeybee population. For example, Natalia Sanchez explains in her article that, historically, scientists were looking for the cause of the bee s sudden poor immune system after the Israeli Acute Paralysis Virus (IAPV) was blamed for the global colony collapse disorder. ... • 39. Management Plan For A Company Essay Currently, ECA has reduced the IT staff due to an overall corporate restructuring. With a reduction in staff, Energy Corporation could use Rapid Application Development to build and deploy applications quickly without the technical expertise needed for traditional programming and development. If applications can be created with little effort and provide the business users and IT staff with the capabilities to make changes with just as little effort, then Energy Corporation of America can continue to keep a reduced size IT staff as well as reduced business user staff. The applications being built could still provide value to the company without a long development time. Energy Corporation of America would not need to hire new, experienced programmers that require higher salaries, instead they could hire few employees and train them on the development application software quickly and let them begin to use the software themselves. This in turn could also help with some of the miscommunication between the IT department and the business user. Better collaboration between IT and business users could be gained by adopting and utilizing a low code development platform. Application developers can quickly build and deploy applications to allow for feedback for the business users. With quick feedback, changes can be made and functional application can be redeployed. 3 PROJECT OVERVIEW By adopting the Rapid Application Development method, ECA can quickly provide functional applications ... Never before had a book made me think so deeply about individuality, society, and government. 1984, a manifestation of my nightmares, described a totalitarian police state of resolute submission. The horror came when I looked upon our own society, and Big Brother glared back at me. We live in a world where every phone call, every text, every search, and every email can be monitored and recorded by our own government. The National Security Agency, or the NSA, was originally proposed to monitor threats outside of the United States, but the NSA began domestic surveillance shortly after the horrific terror attacks of 2001. This cleared the way for warrantless, unlawful tracking of American citizens. Initially, the program collected only the data of high risk individuals in America with direct links to Al Qaeda. Now, however, government data collection has spread to millions of otherwise innocent citizens. Government surveillance is a direct violation of the privacy of American citizens that is dangerous, immoral, and unlawful. They are here to enforce the laws of the land and to keep society safe from any harm. The police are suppose to be our unsung heroes. With this knowledge, citizens should respect these individuals and trust the officers to implement justice and protection. However, not all citizens respect the law enforcement or trust them. Many would like to see police officers like this, but there are a lot that happens in society that make s one rethink their image of a police officer. There are many people in the community that have negaitve attitudes towards the police and see them as corrupt or brutal (Brown Benedict, 2002, p. 551). The individuals that are unfavorable towards the police are those from a low social statues, minorities like blacks, from areas of high crime, single or divorced or widowed individuals, and especially juveniles.
