English Language As A Language
Introduction
English has taken over the course of huge advancement that is the reason why it has been preferred
over any particular linguistics and for the same reason it has been taught and studied all around the
world. These prospects led to the formation of English language as a lingua franca, whether it s United
Kingdom, United States or Canada people have devised their own extents for speaking the
English(Wen, 2012). Not only in the European countries but also in all over South Asia, English has
been utilised as the lingua franca as the English language has been definitively utilised without being
necessarily the language of identification. English language has been utilised for the aspects of
communication because it determined the stylistic features of an enhanced community. Therefore
people all around the world started to learn English to modernise their linguistics and to be diversified
because in most of the countries all around the world only English language has advocated its
impression to lessen the communication barriers(Mufwene, 2012). In this particular essay it would be
realised that how English has transformed to become the lingua franca of the business world and what
could be the reasons, suggestions for business and for native and non native speakers of English.
Critical discussion
The presence of a worldwide lingua franca gives a favourable position to numerous individuals. This
incorporates both Anglophones and non Anglophones. People around the world

Analysis Of The Book The Wizard Of Oz
The Wizard of OZomoness There is no place like home, Which could not be more true for the most of
us, is a famous quote from The Wizard Of OZ, a movie about a girl who finds herself in a world
different from hers, wishing to return to her farm in Kansas. Along the way, she discovers many things
about herself that she never thought she was capable of. Although her time in the Land of OZ was just
a dream, it sends powerful messages. Not only that there is no place like home, but that in our dreams
we realize who we are. The outside world never sees who we truly are or what makes us happy. We
feel a need to conform to society and act how other people act, so that we don t stand out. Why
wouldn t people express themselves for who they truly are? Bird Clarkson, a man on a mission, seems
to ask a similar question. Clarkson, a faculty member in the Communication and ARTS Department at
Central Michigan University, entered a piece in the ArtPrize 2016 competition in Grand Rapids (MI)
named The Wizard of Ozomoness. It is an interpretive dance play of sorts that is meant to get kids or
people alike to express themselves and let them know that their dreams can come true. The piece we
chose was the backdrop of the Emerald City that is meant for this play and we evaluated how its
appearance and representation of a dream world further emphasized the meaning of the piece. We
proved this by interpreting its physical attributes, with interviews with people observing the piece and

Examples Of Racism In Othello

Othello and the Theme of Racism
The play Othello, written by William Shakespeare, is a play about love, jealousy, deception, and, most
importantly, racism. These are four very relatable topics because they are all still present in today s
society. Racism is a very prominent theme throughout the play. This issue is not present when the
people of Venice trust Othello to protect them but only in his social life. Shakespeare conveys how
Moors were commonly labeled as sexual, jealous, and evil beasts (Johnsen Neshati 1). Shakespeare
illustrates racism towards Othello and Moors through the dialogue and the relationship between
Othello and others in the military to convey how ignorant European people were to non European s.
The early 17th century European attitude towards non Europeans were shaped by the English
government and travelers who brought ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From the beginning of the play Shakespeare expresses the theme of racism that continuously
progresses throughout the play. Readers will discover that almost every character indirectly speaks to
or about Othello. In this play the constant use of Othello being referred to as the moor, he, or as him
makes it clear that he was not accepted as a person but simply as an object, as a weapon. Nicole Smith
writer of Perception of Race in Othello By Shakespeare refers back to Iago and Roderigo not only
displaying their hatred towards Othello through their plan, but also through the words they use during
the conversation. She emphasizes that by Iago and Roderigo not mentioning Othello s name it show
that they do not have any respect for him and is not commendable of a name (Smith 1). In the article
Othello: The Alien of Venice, Alpaslan explains how Shakespeare differentiates the racist characters
from the non racist

Love Relationships Comparison between Today and...
Love is the basis of our existence. It affects our every moment, dreams, and hope for the future. Love
has caused wars, ended lives, toppled governments and has been expounded on by poets, musicians,
philosophers, and literates throughout the centuries. Research from Syracuse University shows that it
takes about a fifth of a second to fall in love and it affects almost every part of our body. Our brain
releases dopamine, a natural chemical that gives us energy and optimism. Love is similar to a drug and
can become an addiction because it affects our brain much like other drugs by triggering the dopamine
reward part of our brain. Love even affects a persons heart when a person is in love their blood

Media knows that belonging and love will sell perfume to attract, make up to look your best, items to
keep your family safe and other popular items just to have what you need to fit in or belong to a

political opinions. What is seen on the news can influence people to hate a certain group because they
are a threat to the safety of families or politically influence a vote for a candidate because so families
will prosper. Media influences self esteem by suggesting finding love or being able to fit in a person
should have a certain body type and if that goal is not met a negative self image or feeling of failure
could ensue. Eating disorders have been tied to media s trend toward portraying women in certain
model thinness and promoting only that body type (Neda Feeding Hope). Media is 95% controlled by
two companies NBC Universal and Sony Corporation of America. They own radio, television,
networks, programming, sports and movie theaters and more. Since those two companies control what
we are exposed to daily they can have a strong influence on our behavior and motivators. Media is a
business and as such they are building audience ratings to promote revenue and profits (Curtis). Media

A Comparison of Realism in Uncle Vanya and A Doll s House...
Realism in Uncle Vanya and A Doll s House
A play serves as the author s tool for critiquing society. One rarely encounters the ability to transcend
accepted social beliefs. These plays reflect controversial issues that the audience can relate to because
they interact in the same situations every day. As late nineteenth century playwrights point out the
flaws of mankind they also provide an answer to the controversy. Unknowingly the hero or heroine
solves the problem at the end of the play and indirectly sends a message to the audience on how to
solve their own problem.
Henrik Ibsen and Anton Chekov both provide unique analysis on issues their culture never thought as
wrong. In the play A Doll s House Ibsen tackles ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She believes that her forgery is justified through her motive. She is not a criminal like Krogstad
because his crime was simply a moral failing and not for the good of his family. A morally unjustified
crime is the only type of crime. Nora s believes that her love for her husband is what propelled her to
sign her father s name and pass it off as his own. Nora s motive is to save her husband s life and
keeping it secret is to save him from pain and humiliation. If he knew, it would hurt his manly
independence (p. 22) and upset Nora and Torvald s mutual relations (p.22). Nora knows that without
forging her father s signature she would not be able to save her husband. Nora uses her wit to find a
way to be able to overcome the shackles placed on her by society and get enough money to save
Torvald s life.
In Uncle Vanya Chekov ends the play with Sonya and Uncle Vanya returning to their normal lifestyle
and forgetting about the upset Serebryakov and Elena s presence creates. Sonya protests that she and
her uncle will bear patiently bear the trials fate sends (Chekov p. 230) and work for others (p. 230).
Sonya sacrifices her own happiness for that of her father and stepmother. Sonya exudes every positive
trait that society contains. She sacrifices her life to work for her father without questioning his motives
for leaving. She dedicates herself to her family and overlooks their flaws to help them. Sonya, Uncle

Remark: This illustrates an important point. The fair price of a stock cannot be determined by the risk
neutral pricing, as seen below. Suppose S1 (H) and S1 (T ) are given, we could have two current
prices, S0 and S0 . Correspondingly, we can get u, d and u , d . Because they are determined by S0 and
S0 , respectively, it s not surprising that risk neutral pricing formula always holds, in both cases. That
is, 1+r−d u−d S1 (H) S0 = + u−1−r u−d S1 (T ) 1+r , S0 = 1+r−d u −d S1 (H) + u −1−r u −d S1 (T )
1+r . Essentially, this is because risk neutral pricing relies on fair price=replication cost. Stock as a
replicating component cannot determine its own fair price via the risk neutral pricing formula. 1.4.

precisely, we solve the equation (1 + r)(X0 − ∆0 S0 ) + ∆0 S1 = −(S1 − K)+ . 1 Then X0 = −1.20 and

Asthma Essay
Introduction
Asthma is considered as one of the most common chronic and complex respiratory conditions which
involve both environmental and genetic factors (1,2). It is such a condition of the airways presents as
constriction of the bronchi and bronchioles in response to irritants. The vascular resistance of the
pulmonary system will increase as constriction leads to a smaller vascular diameter (3,4). The
prevalence of the disease is predicted to rise making it one of the major life threatening disorders. In
the UK, the prevalence of asthma showed an increase two to three fold from 1955 to 2004 (5).

The plasminogen system works in opposition to clotting factors, which work to create clots of fibrin
such as thrombin activatable fibrinolysis inhibitor. Since pleural tissue is covered in elastic tissue and
relies on said tissue for mechanical function, the build up of fibrotic clots can damped the
physiological ability of these tissues (Figure 1). It is the interaction of various immune responses and
tissue remodelling that cause further complications to asthmatic individuals (10).
Figure 1: Fibrin turnover control in pleural disease. Pleural injury is a result of the activation of two
similar pathways which are coagulation and fibrinolysis. The production of tissue factor (TF) is by

The Projetion of the Perfection Paradox
The Projection of the Perfection Paradox
In René Descartes s Discourse on Method, seeking the true method for arriving at knowledge (p. 10) is
the goal in which he states in the beginning of discourse. With that end in mind, by analyzing proofs
that Descartes finds it can be seen if this was achieved. The proof that God exist is a defining moment
in the discourse since God is continually referenced for origin of true knowledge. The reference to
God does not only set the stage for further proofs on knowledge, but as the original truth, all of what
Descartes finds real can be related back to God. This idea will be key in order to keep the excising of
the method going when Descartes falls stagnant when relating to the external world (p. 19).
Nevertheless, his two proofs of the existence of God affect the entire discourse either logical or
structurally. His reasoning for the both proofs is in someway exposed to either an assumption or a
logical mistake. While the need for two proofs reflects negatively on the way the theme is structured
through out the entire discourse. Inherently, the way these issue are dealt with will show the
proficiency of Descartes s method. God s existence is a fundamental idea in the Discourse on Method,
since Descartes s method is unsuccessful to prove this idea with out any error; the entire message of
the discourse suffers.
Descartes s method, as shown in part two, is set up to ensure that he is conducting his reasoning with

The Crucible Definition
Nowhere in Arthur Miller s masterpiece, The Crucible , is there a mention of any form of a Crucible.
Where did Arthur Miller come up with the title of his play? In fact he uses the title as a metaphor for
both definitions of the term. The title The Crucible can be interpreted as having characteristics of both
a crucible from chemistry and a crucible to describe hard tests and trials. The easiest definition to
explain is the physical, more literal form of a crucible. It is a piece of laboratory equipment used to
heat chemical compounds to high temperatures. A crucible can be looked at as a small container filled
with large, violent reactions; almost exactly like what happened in the summer of 1692 in Salem,
Massachusetts. With all the residents of Salem jammed in that tiny village, there were bound to be
some red hot flares. If we were to compare the play to the chemistry set up, the bunsen burner would
be the same as Abigail Williams, the one who ignites the situation; the tripod is comparable to the
court system, the system that supports the situation; the cover of the crucible is the same as the ...

It is a place or occasion of severe tests or trials. There are a lot of tests going on in The Crucible , the
tests to determine who is and who isn t a witch, the tests to determine one s standing with the court
and the tests of who is and who isn t telling the truth. Then there are, quite literally, the trials that the
accused must undergo. As well as the inner most trials where a character s beliefs are put to the test.
The most notable character who experiences this trial is Reverend Hale; who, after the first batch of
hangings commence, escapes into the woods to strengthen his faith in the Lord and in the faith of the
court of Salem. Salem metaphorically became a crucible for every instance and procedure experienced

Persuasive Essay On Medical Progress
We live in an age where a medical breakthroughs happens every few days, and new discoveries are put
into practice. We continue to progress with medicine, because we discover new techniques and
medications to help medical progress grow. Through clinical trials and laboratory testing, they show
how it will react and if it is a safe way to use them. Medical progress is where health care
professionals record details and achievements during the patient s care and how far medicine and
medical technology (like CT and MRI machines) have progressed from years ago. Medicine, over the
past few years, has advanced and improved the quality of life of many people s lives, but because of
that, there is now a limit on how far medicine will progress in the future. My mother, Carrie, recently
had to undergo a hysterectomy, and was supposed to have this surgery before my little sister had been
born in July of 2007. This is a surgical procedure in which a woman s uterus is removed and they are
usually performed by a Gynecologist. My mother only has two small scars from it, one scar on her
right hip and one on her left hip. She woke up about an hour after her surgery and was able to go home
just a few hours after because of the anesthetics that they gave her. The doctors gave my mom

medical advancements have improved lives is using the generic medication. This has saved the U.S.

Abolition Of The Death Penalty
Abolition of the Death Penalty
Capital Punishment, otherwise known as the death penalty, first dates back to the English Colonies in
the 1600s. The people of this time adopted this tradition to punish people who had committed crimes
of murder, treason, theft, robbery, rape, or other horrible offenses. In 1776, people already began to
see the inefficiency of the death penalty. Benjamin Rush, a physician and signer of the Declaration of
Independence, stated that the punishment of murder by death is contrary to reason and to the order and
happiness of society. Rush believed that the death penalty should only be a product of England, and
that America should not condone premeditated killing by the government, but rather leave that
practice in England.
In 1794, the state of Pennsylvania began to promote the idea of restricting capital punishment. Soon
after, other states followed Pennsylvania s lead and either reduced the number of capital crimes or got
rid of capital punishment all together. By 1846, the state of Michigan was the first state in the United
States to outlaw the death penalty. After Michigan s implementation of the new law, other northern
states, such as Rhode Island and Wisconsin, outlawed it as well. However, states in the South kept the
death Penalty for a variety of reasons. One of the most important reasons it was kept in the South was
because of the high crime rate and slavery. At times when states would get rid of the death penalty,
they would end up

Queen Elizabeth I Of England
Elizabeth sat in her bedroom in the Buckingham palace brushing her long, curly, red hair which was

The year is 1553, after some long and confusing years of switching between rulers, Queen Mary I,
also known as Bloody Mary, came into power. Mary was the first child of King Henry VIII (Elizabeth
s father if you forgot) but King Henry changed the religion of the country from Catholic to Protestant
just so that he could divorce Mary s mother. After the divorce, Mary was declared illegitimate, same
as Elizabeth. After some rather confusing years in England s history, Mary rose to power and claimed
the throne in 1553 as what the Catholics believed to be the rightful heir of the throne. Here is why she
has the nickname Bloody Mary. She reversed the religion of England from Protestant back to Catholic
and then she burned over 280 religious dissenters at the stake in the Marian persecutions in only a
short 5 year reign. The year is 1558, Elizabeth came into power after her sister, Mary died. But the
rode to keeping the title of queen will not be easy. Elizabeth made the country back into Protestant,
which many resented her for. More than just religion, Elizabeth refused to marry, and soon became
known as the Virgin Queen . This provided another conflict for Elizabeth, many believed a woman
was unfit to rule a country and wanted another ruler. But, her biggest conflict was with her cousin,
Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots, who just so happened to be Catholic. Here, let me explain to you why
these two woman are perfect arch enemies. Of course

Modernism In Modern Architecture
breeding from the unruly mood at the beginning of the 20th century, modernism was a profound
approach that craved to stimulate and renovate the way modern civilization pictured life, art, politics,
literature and science. It is a classical trend of thoughts that ratifies the power of human beings to
create, improve and reshape their environment with the aid of scientific knowledge, technological
advancements and practical experimentation. As a trend, it is less lucid, its perimeter looser, than, say,
classicism. a number of analysts would contend that modernism isn t a single trend , that it embodies a

architects created details and building systems that aimed at machine manufacturing and making. With
modernism, symmetry gave path to regularity. Form follows function , an adage meaning that the

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Driverless Cars
1. Consumer Behavior Models
Consumer behavior eventually leads to the decision or choice between alternatives. In most cases it is
a decision whether to purchase, consume or use a service. The process of this decision making is
rather complex and it is influenced by, other than the price factor, the psychology of the consumers,
their socio cultural environment the past experiences. The consumer decision making can be modelled
as a system operating with an Input or stimuli, the actual decision making Process which then results
in a reaction or Output (Schiffman. L.G, Kanuk. L)

Several manufactures like Tesla, Mercedes etc., have already demonstrated their autonomous driving
technology and many other companies aim to roll out vehicles with driverless capabilities by 2020.
While it s still pretty early to forecast how autonomous vehicles will impact the lives of humans, there
are some clear advantages and disadvantages of driver less cars.
According to the NHTSA (2013), driverless cars are defined as:
Those in which operation of the vehicle occurs without direct driver input to control the steering,
acceleration, and braking and are designed so that the driver is not expected to constantly monitor the
roadway while operating in self driving mode .
One direct inference from the definition is a significant freeing of time and efforts for the driver which
could be potentially used for other value added activities. Indirect inference would be also a better
utilization of the civil infrastructure as a result of the advanced technology. While an obvious
disadvantage would be the cost of ownership, legal issues insurance in case of accidents. 6.1 Potential

and you could see their biggest smiles on their faces. When we arrived in the place, everyone looked

Whenever we have free time, my friends and I spent some time and enjoyed each other company in
this place. We were like kids who used to feel so much fun to play in the swing and seesaw. After that,
we prepared ourselves in the first activity, which was to harvest rice crops in the field. Around two in
the afternoon, we started to walk and straightly went to the farm field without wearing our slippers.
Initially, everyone felt uncomfortable because of the heat from the sun. There was a man who guided
and taught us the proper handling in the tool, which we used through for harvesting the rice grain. It
was a great experience, I realized that the farmers really sacrifice themselves just to provide rice that

Persecution Of Christianity
Christianity originally was not viewed as a world religion. Christians were being persecuted in the
Roman empire by order of the emperors. They were already a small population and continued to get
smaller. Upon the arrival of Constantine the great the rulings of the Roman empire began to change.
The persecutions of Christians came to a halt when Constantine gained a role of higher power in the
second Rome, leading to promotion of Christianity spread and the beginning of the new empire of
Constantinople. Christians were only a small population found in the Roman empire. Due to the group
being a minority they were seen as the scapegoats for all issues in the empire. They were blamed for
anything from terrible weather to disease. Persecution of Christians began with blame, from emperor
Nero in 64 AD, due to a simple fire in Rome. Due to their small population it was easy to discriminate
and persecute them. However, upon Constantine s new rule of the empire the persecution of Christians
comes to a halt. Constantines introduction to the Christian faith occurred during a defining battle.
Maxentius and Constantine were in battle to gain the title of emperor of the Roman empire. During the
battle of Milvian Bridge, God appeared to Constantine and told him if he marched into battle with the
sign of God, Chi Rho cross, that he would come out victorious. Constantine in disbelief asked
Christians if this was the true sign of the one and only God. When reassured by the Christians

The Invention Of The Electron Microscope By Ernst Ruska...
In the scientific community, there have been many advancements in the technologies and processes
used to help us understand the truth of the world around us. The invention of the electron microscope
by Ernst Ruska and Max Knoll in 1933 is just an example of one of these advancements. There is
another advancement that has roots over one hundred and sixty million years old, and that is the green
fluorescent protein (GFP). The fluorescence from GFP molecules has made it feasible to look through
a microscope at a spatial resolution higher than the diffraction limit. The green fluorescent protein was
first found in the Aequorea Victoria, or the crystal jellyfish. It is a bioluminescent hydrozoan jellyfish,
or hydromedusa (1). In the crystal jellyfish, there are two proteins that are responsible for its
bioluminescent, aequorin and GFP. They are both located in the photo organs of the jellyfish. The
jellyfish releases calcium ions which the aequorin binds to. The process of binding gives off a blue
light, which is then absorbed by the GFP. The blue light absorbed is then converted into the green light
that GFP is named for (2). At the moment there is no apparent reason for the bioluminescence
displayed by the Aequorea Victoria since it has not been observed being used as a defense mechanism
or as a signalling mechanism. Osamu Shimomura was the first person to isolate the GFP. He started to
study the bioluminescence of crystal jellyfish at Princeton University in 1960 and he and

Based on a 24 Hour Recall of my diet, results using NutriCalc Plus report that my food intake lacked a
healthy balance of all food groups. My Grain intake reached only 60% of the My Plate daily
recommendations. My Vegetable intake was a mere 50% of the recommended servings. Additionally, I
consumed 84% of the daily recommendations for the Dairy Group. Nonetheless, I did exceed the

Highlighting from the research publication, A Prospective Study of Dietary Fiber Intake and Risk of
Cardiovascular Disease Among Women from the Journal of the American College of Cardiology,
researchers developed a food frequency questionnaire assessing 39,876 female health professionals
with no previous history of CVD or cancer to support the concept. Women were followed for an
average of six years for incidence of various CVD or death confirmed by medical records or death
certificates. Evidence from epidemiological studies suggests a strong inverse association between
dietary fiber and coronary disease, high intakes of fiber and 20% to 40% in reductions to risk, as well
as increased intake of fiber and reduction of plasma cholesterol. The data generally support current
dietary recommendations to increase the consumption of fiber rich whole grains and vegetables as a
primary preventive measure against Cardio vascular disease.

Plastic Has Shaped The Modern Revolution
Plastic has shaped the way humans live, and has become something that humans can not live without.
From plastics use in packaging to war, plastic has impacted almost all parts of life. Modern plastics
are a result of people putting their discoveries together, and building upon each other s discoveries.
Plastic has shaped the modern revolution by allowing humans to have a cheap alternative to otherwise
much more expensive materials. Plastic allows people to produce products in very large masses, while
keeping the cost very low. The elements in plastic can be traced back to the supernovae of stars, but
plastic was only able to become create the adaptable and affordable material it is today through the
building upon of information over generations, in a process called collective learning, and because of
this, plastic has shaped the modern revolution and the way we live today.
An understanding of what plastic is made of, and where it came from is essential to fully understand
the impact of plastic in history. The word plastic originally meant pliable and easily shaped, but today
the word plastic refers a man made polymer which used in everyday life ( All History of Plastics |
Chemical Heritage Foundation ). Polymers long repeating chains of molecules. The shape of polymers
can give plastics the ability to mold into many different shapes. The reason for this is because the
individual strands of polymers just slide past each other ( A Brief History of Plastics, Natural and

Much Ado About Nothing Essay
William Shakespeare s Much Ado About Nothing is a play involving by deception, disloyalty, trickery,
eavesdropping, and hearsay. The play contains numerous examples of schemes that are used to
manipulate the thoughts of other characters; it is the major theme that resonates throughout the play.
Ironically, it is one of these themes that bring serenity to the chaos that encompasses most of the play.
amp;#9;The first example of deception we see is with the characters of Beatrice and Benedick. These
two characters provide the humor throughout Shakespeare s comedy; their repartees and soliloquies
tend to leave the reader smiling and anxious for more dialogue between them. Beatrice and Benedick

Benedick, shows us his true feelings in his soliloquy: amp;quot; This can be no trick... / I will be
horribly in love with her amp;quot; (2.3.210,223). Benedick, decides that he will allow himself to fall
in love with Beatrice.
amp;#9;The second example of deception is seen in Act 3.1. Hero and Ursula do their parts to trick
Beatrice into falling in love with Benedick. They speak highly of Benedick and amp;quot;praise him
more than ever man did merit amp;quot; (3.3.19). In her eavesdropping and overhearing she falls for
the bait, as did Benedick. In Beatrice s soliloquy she discloses her thoughts of Benedick s false
affectations towards her. She is willing to tame her heart so that Benedick and she can be together.
Beatrice s submissiveness shows her subconscious yearnings to be in love, as well as Benedick even
though She and Benedick aren t willing to admit it.
amp;#9;The most heinous act of deception in Much Ado About Nothing is committed against Hero,
the daughter of Leonato, and Claudio. These two characters, unlike Beatrice and Benedick, fall in love
after seeing each other for the first time Shakespeare s classic case of love at first sight. The deception
starts after Borachio overhears Don Pedro s plan to amp;quot;assume thy part in some disguise
amp;quot; (1.1.305) in order to woo Hero for Claudio. At the masquerade party, while Don Pedro is
dancing with Hero in hopes of wooing her for Claudio, Borachio and

A Report Card For Yankton School District
For the first project requirements, I collected data for the Yankton School District and the Mitchell
School District from the South Dakota Department of Education s website. I specifically looked at
each district s report card that included performance indicators, school performance index, staffing
and student population statistics, attendance numbers and high school completion and college and
career readiness statistics. Each school district s report card contained further detailed information and
percentages regarding test scores in math, ELA, and science.
After collecting and organizing the data from the district report card for Yankton School District, one
of the most interesting trends I found was the difference in scores between 2013 and 2014. For the
years 2012 and 2013, scores were reported on four levels: Below Basic, Basic, Proficient, and
Advanced. Then in 2014, the scores were reported on a new leveling system including the four levels:
Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, and Level 4. When reviewing the different levels, I compared Level 1 to
Below Basic. In 2013 for the 6th grade class, out of 190 students, 0.53% of those students scored at
the Below Basic level in math. However, in 2014 for the 6th grade class, out of 166 students, 32.32%
of those students scored at Level 1. Even when evaluating the same group of students, the 7th grade
class for 2014, I noticed a rather large increase as well, with 23.30% of 209 students scoring at the
Level 1.

Example Of Verbal Bullying
1) Bullying is aggressive behaviour that generally occurs among school children. It is a repeated
behaviour, sometimes repeated over time. (StopBullying, n.d.) Bullying is the misuse of power by a
group of people or an individual towards another person. Bullying can be physical, verbal or
emotional.
2) Physical Bullying:
Physical bullying is a form of bullying where the bully uses physical strength to hurt his/her victim

boy who attacked him many times and threatened him. He almost asphyxiated him once. However, his
friends helped him and now he is not bullied anymore. (Seppe, n.d.)
Verbal Bullying:
Verbal bullying is a form of bullying where the bully uses mean words over and over again until you

The Revolt Of The Sergeants Essay
The Battle of Santiago Bay decimated the Spanish fleet and killed almost 1,800 Spaniards. The aging
Spanish fleet was no match for the Americans, two weeks later the Spanish forces in Santiago
surrendered and on August 11th, 1898 Spain accepted America s terms of peace. From the war
America gained four new territories, Puerto Rico, the Philippines, Guam, and Cuba. Consequently
Cuba gained its freedom, yet it was the American flag that flew over Havana in triumph, not Cuba s.
During the next twenty five years Fulgencio Batista ruled Cuba with an iron fist. As well as a
complete endorsement from the American government. In 1933 Batista deposed the Cuban
government in what is known as The Revolt of the Sergeants . His coup overthrew the liberal
government of Gerardo Machado. Batista took control of the Cuban military, and a new five member
presidency was established, each member was decidedly anti Machado. However, Batista was not a
member of the presidency nor did he hold public office during this time.
In 1940, Batista became the first non white president of Cuba, he was also the first president to be

Adoption For Prospective Or Current Parents
Adoptive Parents
Adoptive parents share in the joys of parenthood, which may also include challenges that impact their
family dynamic. However, the reasons for adopting a child vary among couples, with a central one
being infertility, but can include a desire to care for orphans. Therefore, couples might approach the
subject of adoption with a bittersweet mentality, particularly if the natural ability to conceive is the
issue. The choices concerning adoption for prospective or current parents are not light in nature,
including, but not limited to, finances, the type of adoption, and selecting a lawyer or agency.
Receiving professional counseling before finalizing a decision is also beneficial. Aside from the
technical aspects, there is the raising of a child that will entail explanations of why there are noticeable
differences between him and her and other family members, along with recognizing difficult
transitional periods the child might encounter (Pertman, 2011, pp. 169 170). Thus, adoptive parents
have distinct concerns they will encounter, with one being grieving the inability of having biological
children, as well as childrearing issues.
Adoptees
An adoptee represents a person who is not raised by the woman that gave birth to him or her, which
may also exclude the birth father. He or she is part of a unique, yet, similar group of individuals that
have differing experiences concerning being adopted. Similar to the other parties in the triad who

Tolerance In Strange Fruit
Tolerance is one of the most valuable attributes a person can have. Some people have and abundance
of it, and others not so much. In our world today, acts of tolerance are few and far in between, as the
sources show. Though tolerance is so rare, through diversity and a strong ethical sense it is possible to
learn to tolerate and accept, even if not all of our experiences are the same. To begin with, the way
people experience things affects the way they learn about tolerance. If you look at the video Strange
Fruit, it shows two individuals with vastly different upbringings and life experiences. It shows how
tolerance is learned and passed down through generations, and how it affects a person s views. This
idea is, of course, important because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Being brought up in an environment where no one is the same and everyone has different ideals makes
it easier for some to build up tolerance. In the short film My So Called Enemy, these girls who are
merged together come from places where near everyone is forced to think and behave the same. But as
these girls begin to experience different thoughts they begin to learn to accept those differences. This
shows that exposure leads to understanding, which then leads to tolerance or acceptance. Another
example of diversity affecting tolerance is the video Strange Fruit. A boy is killed because of the color
of his skin by a boy of a different color, due to the guidance of an adult. The boy regretted his actions
after the act was done. The remorse the boy felt shows that though he was taught not to accept those
who were different, and even though he had done something awful because of it he learned that
tolerance. Being exposed to new things, and diverse thoughts is important to knowing and gaining

Biography of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Although Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is often regarded as just an author, he was much more. His works

With so many moving components, it is hard to know what trouble signs to look out for. One part that
you may be ignoring is the transmission, which actually needs the fluids to be flushed from time to

The Fluid Changed Color
Chances are that you have never seen your transmission fluid. The fluid is typically a bright red color,

Dirty transmission fluid can cause various problems, such as there being a notable delay when

you are accelerating quickly and the RPMs are quite high.
Ignoring these issues could cause damage to your vehicle s transmission. Avoid an expensive repair by
having the fluid flushed out at the first sign of any of these problems.
You ve Driven the Car A Lot
Much like the oil for your engine, transmission fluid also requires regular flushing based on how many
miles you have driven. Every car manufacturer will recommend changing the transmission fluid after
a specific amount of miles, which caries from vehicle to vehicle. It is common to replace transmission
fluid between 24,000 and 30,000 miles, and if you do not drive that many miles, then after 2 years.
Don t make the mistake of waiting until your transmission fails to have it looked at. Being aware of
these three problems will help keep your car running smoothly. If you ever have doubts about
something off your transmission is doing, do not hesitate to take your car to a local mechanic to have

The Pros And Cons Of Genetic Gold Diggers
Genetic Gold Diggers It s sad to live in a world where the thought of genetically modifying babies
exists. While parents are just trying to better their children s lives, they re doing nothing but wasting
their money on a very expensive and risky procedure. It s no coincidence that when CRISPR, the
machine/tool used for genetic modification was released, over 40 countries produced legislation to
fight against it due to the moral, legal, safety, etc. issues. With genetic modification, numerous health
risks, moral questioning and possible discrimination, genetic modification is not the way to go. One of
the main reasons a parent would modify their traits is to become more athletic; so, if a parent modifies
their baby in order for them to grow up to be the next LeBron James , chances are they re not special
for thinking of that. They think that their kid will be the superior athlete but in reality, the kid is going
to be battling against many other kids that have been genetically modified, reducing their talent back
down to what it would ve been prior to genetic modification. The only difference is that if the kid didn

attorney, and it also showed very little of what a bailiff does in the courtroom. Over 90% of
convictions are from negotiated guilty pleas. They help avoid court and a lot of paperwork lawyers
may have to do which gives them more time to focus on cases that are bigger and more serious. In the
movie, Captain West stated to Lt. Commander Galloway, ...I m sure it ll boil down to a five minute
plea bargain and a week s worth of paper work. No one expected the case to make it to court. Plea
bargaining does not take place in a court room; it can take place at a restaurant, a game, the lawyers
can meet at their houses, and many other places. Lieutenant Kaffee made plea deals while he was
playing baseball. Since many cases get plea deals many lawyers do not see the court room often. Forty
four plea bargains were done by Lt. Kaffee in nine months and he had not once seen the inside of a
courtroom until the case that takes place in the movie. Even though plea deals have its advantages,
problems can arise from it such as the defendants not wanting a deal, one defendant in the movie did
not want one,

Air Pollution In The Madison Area
Madison, the south central, mid sized city in Wisconsin is defined by its five major lakes, a beautiful
rural side and a lively metropolitan area of about 578,000 (Madison Population 2016). Madison spills
into surrounding suburbs driving locals to express that they are from the Madison Area. Historically
speaking, Madison was home to the Winnebago Native American Tribe (Madison: History n.d.). The
surrounding lakes made the area a convenient place to settle. Around 1829, a man named James Doty
bought surrounding land to pave a grid of streets. He was to make Madison, named after the fourth
president, the new capital city (Time, B.T n.d.).
Currently, Madison is the one of the only two U.S cities built on an isthmus, which is a narrow section

Everything from plants, animals to humans can be categorized within the biosphere. Everything from
three meters below the ground to thirty meters above it encompasses the biosphere (Rosenberg 2014).
The suitable environment makes it easy for plants and animals of all variety to live in the area. The
distribution of plants depends on the landscape of the area. In the depths of the capital city, there are
not many natural occurring plants. Further out into the peripheries, one would notice more green of
fields and forestry. The Madison Area is also home to many animal species such as, moles, opossums,
and raccoons that live in the wooded, outskirts of Madison. While there are multiple species of fish,
turtles and frogs that live in the surrounding wetlands, such as the lakes, rivers and ponds. The harsh
winters lead to the biggest challenges for most wildlife because of the dry conditions, reduced food
sources, and cold temperatures (Wisconsin Department n.d.).
Being in the Midwest, it is not common for major hazards, such as hurricanes or earthquakes that need
to be managed or promptly executed in the case of an emergency. There is the yearly tornado season
that rolls around near June and occasional flooding if the summer is not dry. The biggest obstacle that
will affect the physical geography, specifically the biosphere, is the rapid rate of population growing
and then having to accommodate living spaces for new

Citizen Vs Declaration Of Independence
The Declaration of Independence is of major importance to the history of the United States, and the
same is true for the Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen regarding the history of France.
Both documents were the start or major change within each of the countries. The Declaration of
Independence stated the colonies were no longer under Great Britain rule, but instead they were now
their own free country. In France the Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen was written to
limit the power and authority of the crown and government. Although the documents express different
concerns there are still distinct similarities between the two. The Declaration of the Rights of Man and
the Citizen limits the power of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both documents state citizens have the right to liberty and that men are created equal. In the
Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen says Men are born free and remain equal in rights
(Using APA, 1789, Article 1., The Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen) and in the
Declaration of Independence it states All men are created equal .(Using APA, 1776, paragraph two.,
The Declaration of Independence) The Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen says citizens
have In defeasible rights (Using APA, 1789, Article 2., The Declaration of the Rights of Man and the
Citizen) and the Declaration of Independence states citizens have unalienable rights .(Using APA,
1776, paragraph two., The Declaration of Independence) This means that both of the documents say
that citizens have rights that can not be taken away. Each document was written because there was a
problem with what was going on within each country. The Declaration of the Rights of Man and the
Citizen was written so that the crown was no longer above the laws, and the Declaration of
Independence was written because the king of Great Britain had abused his powers and making the
colonists suffer. Each country wrote the documents because they had a problem with their
government. The Declaration of

Genocide Of The International Criminal Court
Introduction Genocide is defined as violent crimes committed against a group of people with the
intention to destroy the existence of the group. Usually these crimes are committed against racial,
religious, national or ethnical groups. These crimes can vary from simply murder to deliberately
inflicting the group s conditions of life, other crimes such as causing serious bodily or mental harm,
imposing measures to prevent births within the group and forcibly transferring children from the
group to another group. All these crimes are aimed to serve one goal that is destroy the existence of a
certain group, whatever the crime may be it all serves as genocide. In 2002 the International Criminal
Court was established to help prevent crimes against humanity. Genocide is one of those crimes the
court set forth to prevent, although genocide may seem like a crime that must be listed under crimes
against humanity or war crimes, it is the intent of destroying the existence of a certain group that
separates it from similar crimes. Other acts that are related to genocide are also punishable by law,
such as: conspiracy to commit genocide, direct and public incitement to commit genocide, attempt to
commit genocide and complicity in genocide. Some of these laws might seem obvious to some of us,
but the term genocide was only found in 1944 that is after the Second World War (the holocaust). Nazi
Germany or Hitler committed one of the most horrifying genocides in history, killing almost 6

History of the U.S. Marine Corps Noncommissioned Officer...
History Of the U.S. Marine Corps Noncommissioned Officer 1958 Present Noncommissioned
Officers are the backbone of the Marine Corps. Each leader is vastly different from the other. Some
Marines enjoy being a corporal only because of the increase in rank and pay. A few become the
tactless leaders junior Marines try to avoid. Fortunately, many others mature into Marines who strive
to become the leader that other Marines wish to emulate. They know what it means to be a good
leader. Those Marines have the traits of a leader; they get to know their Marines; and they adhere to a
sound leadership style. This paper will discuss the story of Dakota L. Meyer, who received the Medal
of Honor for his actions as a Corporal of Marines during ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Aaron Kenefick, 30, of Roswell, Ga.; Hospital Corpsman Third Class James R. Layton, 22, of
Riverbank, Calif.; and Edwin Wayne Johnson Jr., a 31 year old Gunnery Sergeant from Columbus, Ga.
A fifth man, Army Sgt. 1st Class Kenneth W. Westbrook, 41, of Shiprock, N.M., later died from his
wounds. The modern noncommissioned officer is the embodiment of the Corps history and tradition
by its core values. The core values are honor, courage and commitment. Dakota Meyer showed each
one of the core values. He also showed a majority if not all of the 14 leadership traits, not only as an
active duty marine, but also as a civilian, when he shared his spotlight to remember the men that were
not able to make it back. Marine noncommissioned officers should be held to the highest standards, as
they are the ones who will be teaching new marines how to properly perform in their M.O.S. and they
will be teaching new marines how to conduct themselves as marines, whether its while serving in
combat, or in garrison. References Behind the Cover: An exclusive interview with Dakota Meyer,

An Analysis Of Tom Stoppard s Rosencrantz And Guildenstern...
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern fail to interpret the world around them, to interpret the purpose of their
journey, and even to interpret their own identities throughout Tom Stoppard s Rosencrantz and
Guildenstern are Dead. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern fail to interpret the meaning of these things,
because they seem to lack such basic information as their own identities, and as a result spend the
entirety of the play in a state of constant confusion. Their confusion stems from both the sheer
randomness of the universe, illustrated by the bizarre coin tossing scene, and the ambiguous and
unclear motives of the other characters, who pop onstage and deliver brief, perplexing speeches before
quickly exiting. The play ultimately suggests that the prominent ... Show more content on

Rosencrantz blithely flips a coin, notes it as heads, and pockets it, over and over again, never
questioning why the coins keep coming up heads. Guildenstern, in contrast, worries that the two have
entered an alternate universe, since standard laws of probability dictate that a coin has an equal chance
of coming up heads or tails. The more coins Rosencrantz wins, the more frightened Guildenstern gets.
When Rosencrantz tires of the coin flipping, he begins cutting his fingernails and imagining what
happens to the nails after death, foreshadowing the deaths in Act III. His actions demonstrate a relaxed
attitude toward the world: he generally believes that everything is and will be okay, and he has no
interest in worrying about unknowns. Guildenstern, however, shows a more complicated range of
emotions and thought patterns. While Rosencrantz passively accepts the results of the coin flipping,
Guildenstern actively struggles to figure out what the results might mean. Unlike Rosencrantz,
Guildenstern demonstrates a willingness to interpret and engage with the world around him.
It seems that, while they, or at least Guildenstern, would like to have some understanding of life s
mysteries, they are somehow able to largely ignore an idea so central and personal as their own fates.
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern skirt around major issues, focusing on the minor ones instead. An

Taking a Look at Ski Jumping
The 2014 Olympics held a wide range of competitions for athletes. One of the events, ski jumping,
was part of the Olympics since the first games in 1924. Ski jumping was born in 1860 when
Norwegian Sondre Norheim, built the first measured jump and flew 30 metres. That record held for
more than three decades. Ski jumping is a sport where skiers go down a ramp, jump, attempt to fly as
far as possible, and land safely. Judges give points to skiers for proper technique and style, but those
points do not add much to the total as the distance contributes to the majority of the scoring. Over the
last 100 years, ski jumping has changed enormously due to the new technology made available. The
modern sport involves a extreme amount of practice, patience and confidence. The sport is very
popular, but also very dangerous. Factors like wind can severely effect a skiers score.
The top of the hill is the start. There is a bar at the top that the jumper sits on while they are waiting
and getting ready. Once ready, the ski jumper will lean forward and will naturally start accelerating
down the pre made path on the platform. The in run usually has an angle of 38o to 36o, which then
turns into the jump at the end of the run. The end of the run usually has an angle between 7o and 12o
downhill. The ground after the jump is precisely made so the jumper is never over 6 meters over the
ground. This measure is in place so if the jumper loses balance, they will not fall very far before
hitting the

Charles Spurgeon Lectures To My Students Summary
In his book Lectures to My Students, Charles Spurgeon lays out a comprehensive ministerial guide for
students and pastors. There is an enormous amount of energy directed towards the minister s lifestyle,
spirituality, and sincerity. Spurgeon makes the case that ministry must be handled with precision,
attentiveness, and truth. He further shares, What a dreadful thing it will be for me if I should be
ignorant of the power of the truth which I am preparing to proclaim (2010, Chap. I). The preacher
must take great care in managing his own soul before pursuing the heart of others.
A minister must understand that the necessity of prayer, daily personal devotion, and earnestness in
studying the word of God is significant. Charles Spurgeon shares, Whenever his mind turns to his
work, whether he is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is an effective book, which provides meaningful guidance in recognizing, acknowledging, and
pursuing the call to ministry. Charles Spurgeon gives a positive perspective on necessity of prayer,
sermon preparation, pulpit etiquette, personal balance, and moral character. He makes a great point in
sharing that ministers should not be artificial or unmanly in their ways. Spurgeon states, If they saw
us, in the putlit and out of it, acting like real men, and speaking naturally, like honest men, they would
come around us (2010, Chap. XII). Pastors or ministers should make it their mission to be around the
lay members and connect with the congregation.
One of the most important aspect of his book is the focus on preaching Christ. Spurgeon declares,
Brethren, first and above all things, keep to plain evangelical doctrines, whatever else you do or do not
preach, be sure incessantly to bring forth the soul saving truth of Christ and him crucified (2010,
Chap. IV). This is the heart of the gospel message and the guide to the lost being

  • 2. English Language As A Language Introduction English has taken over the course of huge advancement that is the reason why it has been preferred over any particular linguistics and for the same reason it has been taught and studied all around the world. These prospects led to the formation of English language as a lingua franca, whether it s United Kingdom, United States or Canada people have devised their own extents for speaking the English(Wen, 2012). Not only in the European countries but also in all over South Asia, English has been utilised as the lingua franca as the English language has been definitively utilised without being necessarily the language of identification. English language has been utilised for the aspects of communication because it determined the stylistic features of an enhanced community. Therefore people all around the world started to learn English to modernise their linguistics and to be diversified because in most of the countries all around the world only English language has advocated its impression to lessen the communication barriers(Mufwene, 2012). In this particular essay it would be realised that how English has transformed to become the lingua franca of the business world and what could be the reasons, suggestions for business and for native and non native speakers of English. Critical discussion The presence of a worldwide lingua franca gives a favourable position to numerous individuals. This incorporates both Anglophones and non Anglophones. People around the world ... • 3. Analysis Of The Book The Wizard Of Oz The Wizard of OZomoness There is no place like home, Which could not be more true for the most of us, is a famous quote from The Wizard Of OZ, a movie about a girl who finds herself in a world different from hers, wishing to return to her farm in Kansas. Along the way, she discovers many things about herself that she never thought she was capable of. Although her time in the Land of OZ was just a dream, it sends powerful messages. Not only that there is no place like home, but that in our dreams we realize who we are. The outside world never sees who we truly are or what makes us happy. We feel a need to conform to society and act how other people act, so that we don t stand out. Why wouldn t people express themselves for who they truly are? Bird Clarkson, a man on a mission, seems to ask a similar question. Clarkson, a faculty member in the Communication and ARTS Department at Central Michigan University, entered a piece in the ArtPrize 2016 competition in Grand Rapids (MI) named The Wizard of Ozomoness. It is an interpretive dance play of sorts that is meant to get kids or people alike to express themselves and let them know that their dreams can come true. The piece we chose was the backdrop of the Emerald City that is meant for this play and we evaluated how its appearance and representation of a dream world further emphasized the meaning of the piece. We proved this by interpreting its physical attributes, with interviews with people observing the piece and with a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Examples Of Racism In Othello Derissa Crawford Professor Kobeleva English 1102 27 April 2015 Othello and the Theme of Racism The play Othello, written by William Shakespeare, is a play about love, jealousy, deception, and, most importantly, racism. These are four very relatable topics because they are all still present in today s society. Racism is a very prominent theme throughout the play. This issue is not present when the people of Venice trust Othello to protect them but only in his social life. Shakespeare conveys how Moors were commonly labeled as sexual, jealous, and evil beasts (Johnsen Neshati 1). Shakespeare illustrates racism towards Othello and Moors through the dialogue and the relationship between Othello and others in the military to convey how ignorant European people were to non European s. The early 17th century European attitude towards non Europeans were shaped by the English government and travelers who brought ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From the beginning of the play Shakespeare expresses the theme of racism that continuously progresses throughout the play. Readers will discover that almost every character indirectly speaks to or about Othello. In this play the constant use of Othello being referred to as the moor, he, or as him makes it clear that he was not accepted as a person but simply as an object, as a weapon. Nicole Smith writer of Perception of Race in Othello By Shakespeare refers back to Iago and Roderigo not only displaying their hatred towards Othello through their plan, but also through the words they use during the conversation. She emphasizes that by Iago and Roderigo not mentioning Othello s name it show that they do not have any respect for him and is not commendable of a name (Smith 1). • 5. Love Relationships Comparison between Today and... Love is the basis of our existence. It affects our every moment, dreams, and hope for the future. Love has caused wars, ended lives, toppled governments and has been expounded on by poets, musicians, philosophers, and literates throughout the centuries. Research from Syracuse University shows that it takes about a fifth of a second to fall in love and it affects almost every part of our body. Our brain releases dopamine, a natural chemical that gives us energy and optimism. Love is similar to a drug and can become an addiction because it affects our brain much like other drugs by triggering the dopamine reward part of our brain. • 6. A Comparison of Realism in Uncle Vanya and A Doll s House... Realism in Uncle Vanya and A Doll s House A play serves as the author s tool for critiquing society. One rarely encounters the ability to transcend accepted social beliefs. These plays reflect controversial issues that the audience can relate to because they interact in the same situations every day. As late nineteenth century playwrights point out the flaws of mankind they also provide an answer to the controversy. Unknowingly the hero or heroine solves the problem at the end of the play and indirectly sends a message to the audience on how to solve their own problem. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Remark: This illustrates an important point. The fair price of a stock cannot be determined by the risk neutral pricing, as seen below. Suppose S1 (H) and S1 (T ) are given, we could have two current prices, S0 and S0 . Correspondingly, we can get u, d and u , d . Because they are determined by S0 and S0 , respectively, it s not surprising that risk neutral pricing formula always holds, in both cases. That is, 1+r−d u−d S1 (H) S0 = + u−1−r u−d S1 (T ) 1+r , S0 = 1+r−d u −d S1 (H) + u −1−r u −d S1 (T ) 1+r . Essentially, this is because risk neutral pricing relies on fair price=replication cost. Stock as a replicating component cannot determine its own fair price via the risk neutral pricing formula. 1.4. Proof. The bank s trader should set up a replicating portfolio whose payoff is the opposite of the option s payoff. More precisely, we solve the equation (1 + r)(X0 − ∆0 S0 ) + ∆0 S1 = −(S1 − K)+ . 1 Then X0 = −1.20 and ∆0 = − 2 . • 9. The Projetion of the Perfection Paradox The Projection of the Perfection Paradox In René Descartes s Discourse on Method, seeking the true method for arriving at knowledge (p. 10) is the goal in which he states in the beginning of discourse. With that end in mind, by analyzing proofs that Descartes finds it can be seen if this was achieved. The proof that God exist is a defining moment in the discourse since God is continually referenced for origin of true knowledge. The reference to God does not only set the stage for further proofs on knowledge, but as the original truth, all of what Descartes finds real can be related back to God. This idea will be key in order to keep the excising of the method going when Descartes falls stagnant when relating to the external world (p. 19). Nevertheless, his two proofs of the existence of God affect the entire discourse either logical or structurally. His reasoning for the both proofs is in someway exposed to either an assumption or a logical mistake. While the need for two proofs reflects negatively on the way the theme is structured through out the entire discourse. Inherently, the way these issue are dealt with will show the proficiency of Descartes s method. God s existence is a fundamental idea in the Discourse on Method, since Descartes s method is unsuccessful to prove this idea with out any error; the entire message of the discourse suffers. • 10. The Crucible Definition Nowhere in Arthur Miller s masterpiece, The Crucible , is there a mention of any form of a Crucible. Where did Arthur Miller come up with the title of his play? In fact he uses the title as a metaphor for both definitions of the term. The title The Crucible can be interpreted as having characteristics of both a crucible from chemistry and a crucible to describe hard tests and trials. The easiest definition to explain is the physical, more literal form of a crucible. It is a piece of laboratory equipment used to heat chemical compounds to high temperatures. A crucible can be looked at as a small container filled with large, violent reactions; almost exactly like what happened in the summer of 1692 in Salem, Massachusetts. With all the residents of Salem jammed in that tiny village, there were bound to be some red hot flares. If we were to compare the play to the chemistry set up, the bunsen burner would be the same as Abigail Williams, the one who ignites the situation; the tripod is comparable to the court system, the system that supports the situation; the cover of the crucible is the same as the ... We continue to progress with medicine, because we discover new techniques and medications to help medical progress grow. Through clinical trials and laboratory testing, they show how it will react and if it is a safe way to use them. Medical progress is where health care professionals record details and achievements during the patient s care and how far medicine and medical technology (like CT and MRI machines) have progressed from years ago. Medicine, over the past few years, has advanced and improved the quality of life of many people s lives, but because of that, there is now a limit on how far medicine will progress in the future. • 12. Abolition Of The Death Penalty Abolition of the Death Penalty Capital Punishment, otherwise known as the death penalty, first dates back to the English Colonies in the 1600s. The people of this time adopted this tradition to punish people who had committed crimes of murder, treason, theft, robbery, rape, or other horrible offenses. In 1776, people already began to see the inefficiency of the death penalty. Benjamin Rush, a physician and signer of the Declaration of Independence, stated that the punishment of murder by death is contrary to reason and to the order and happiness of society. Rush believed that the death penalty should only be a product of England, and that America should not condone premeditated killing by the government, but rather leave that practice in England. In 1794, the state of Pennsylvania began to promote the idea of restricting capital punishment. Soon after, other states followed Pennsylvania s lead and either reduced the number of capital crimes or got rid of capital punishment all together. By 1846, the state of Michigan was the first state in the United States to outlaw the death penalty. After Michigan s implementation of the new law, other northern states, such as Rhode Island and Wisconsin, outlawed it as well. However, states in the South kept the death Penalty for a variety of reasons. One of the most important reasons it was kept in the South was because of the high crime rate and slavery. Mary was the first child of King Henry VIII (Elizabeth s father if you forgot) but King Henry changed the religion of the country from Catholic to Protestant just so that he could divorce Mary s mother. After the divorce, Mary was declared illegitimate, same as Elizabeth. After some rather confusing years in England s history, Mary rose to power and claimed the throne in 1553 as what the Catholics believed to be the rightful heir of the throne. Here is why she has the nickname Bloody Mary. She reversed the religion of England from Protestant back to Catholic and then she burned over 280 religious dissenters at the stake in the Marian persecutions in only a short 5 year reign. The year is 1558, Elizabeth came into power after her sister, Mary died. But the rode to keeping the title of queen will not be easy. Elizabeth made the country back into Protestant, which many resented her for. More than just religion, Elizabeth refused to marry, and soon became known as the Virgin Queen . Camping is one of the memorable event I ve ever been. Last January 2016, the most awaited experience of a Grade 10 student happened in Avesta Pampanga. Each one of us was really excited and you could see their biggest smiles on their faces. When we arrived in the place, everyone looked for their own designated spot to build the tent. On our group, we located it near the playground. Whenever we have free time, my friends and I spent some time and enjoyed each other company in this place. We were like kids who used to feel so much fun to play in the swing and seesaw. After that, we prepared ourselves in the first activity, which was to harvest rice crops in the field. Around two in the afternoon, we started to walk and straightly went to the farm field without wearing our slippers. Initially, everyone felt uncomfortable because of the heat from the sun. There was a man who guided and taught us the proper handling in the tool, which we used through for harvesting the rice grain. • 17. Persecution Of Christianity Christianity originally was not viewed as a world religion. Christians were being persecuted in the Roman empire by order of the emperors. They were already a small population and continued to get smaller. Upon the arrival of Constantine the great the rulings of the Roman empire began to change. The persecutions of Christians came to a halt when Constantine gained a role of higher power in the second Rome, leading to promotion of Christianity spread and the beginning of the new empire of Constantinople. Christians were only a small population found in the Roman empire. Due to the group being a minority they were seen as the scapegoats for all issues in the empire. They were blamed for anything from terrible weather to disease. Persecution of Christians began with blame, from emperor Nero in 64 AD, due to a simple fire in Rome. Due to their small population it was easy to discriminate and persecute them. However, upon Constantine s new rule of the empire the persecution of Christians comes to a halt. Constantines introduction to the Christian faith occurred during a defining battle. Maxentius and Constantine were in battle to gain the title of emperor of the Roman empire. During the battle of Milvian Bridge, God appeared to Constantine and told him if he marched into battle with the sign of God, Chi Rho cross, that he would come out victorious. • 18. The Invention Of The Electron Microscope By Ernst Ruska... In the scientific community, there have been many advancements in the technologies and processes used to help us understand the truth of the world around us. The invention of the electron microscope by Ernst Ruska and Max Knoll in 1933 is just an example of one of these advancements. There is another advancement that has roots over one hundred and sixty million years old, and that is the green fluorescent protein (GFP). The fluorescence from GFP molecules has made it feasible to look through a microscope at a spatial resolution higher than the diffraction limit. The green fluorescent protein was first found in the Aequorea Victoria, or the crystal jellyfish. It is a bioluminescent hydrozoan jellyfish, or hydromedusa (1). In the crystal jellyfish, there are two proteins that are responsible for its bioluminescent, aequorin and GFP. They are both located in the photo organs of the jellyfish. The jellyfish releases calcium ions which the aequorin binds to. The process of binding gives off a blue light, which is then absorbed by the GFP. The blue light absorbed is then converted into the green light that GFP is named for (2). At the moment there is no apparent reason for the bioluminescence displayed by the Aequorea Victoria since it has not been observed being used as a defense mechanism or as a signalling mechanism. Osamu Shimomura was the first person to isolate the GFP. He started to study the bioluminescence of crystal jellyfish at Princeton University in 1960 and he and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Daniel Kaffee, Lt. Commander JoAnne Galloway, Colonel Nathan R. Jessep, and Lance Corporal Harold Dawson. Five themes that the movie dramatically displayed were how plea deals were done, the respect judges get, the responsibilities of a judge, the responsibilities of a defense attorney, and it also showed very little of what a bailiff does in the courtroom. Over 90% of convictions are from negotiated guilty pleas. They help avoid court and a lot of paperwork lawyers may have to do which gives them more time to focus on cases that are bigger and more serious. In the movie, Captain West stated to Lt. Commander Galloway, ...I m sure it ll boil down to a five minute plea bargain and a week s worth of paper work. No one expected the case to make it to court. Plea bargaining does not take place in a court room; it can take place at a restaurant, a game, the lawyers can meet at their houses, and many other places. Lieutenant Kaffee made plea deals while he was playing baseball. Since many cases get plea deals many lawyers do not see the court room often. Forty four plea bargains were done by Lt. Kaffee in nine months and he had not once seen the inside of a courtroom until the case that takes place in the movie. History Of the U.S. Marine Corps Noncommissioned Officer 1958 Present Noncommissioned Officers are the backbone of the Marine Corps. Each leader is vastly different from the other. Some Marines enjoy being a corporal only because of the increase in rank and pay. A few become the tactless leaders junior Marines try to avoid. Fortunately, many others mature into Marines who strive to become the leader that other Marines wish to emulate. They know what it means to be a good leader. Those Marines have the traits of a leader; they get to know their Marines; and they adhere to a sound leadership style. This paper will discuss the story of Dakota L. • 45. An Analysis Of Tom Stoppard s Rosencrantz And Guildenstern... Rosencrantz and Guildenstern fail to interpret the world around them, to interpret the purpose of their journey, and even to interpret their own identities throughout Tom Stoppard s Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern fail to interpret the meaning of these things, because they seem to lack such basic information as their own identities, and as a result spend the entirety of the play in a state of constant confusion. Their confusion stems from both the sheer randomness of the universe, illustrated by the bizarre coin tossing scene, and the ambiguous and unclear motives of the other characters, who pop onstage and deliver brief, perplexing speeches before quickly exiting. The play ultimately suggests that the prominent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rosencrantz blithely flips a coin, notes it as heads, and pockets it, over and over again, never questioning why the coins keep coming up heads. Guildenstern, in contrast, worries that the two have entered an alternate universe, since standard laws of probability dictate that a coin has an equal chance of coming up heads or tails. The more coins Rosencrantz wins, the more frightened Guildenstern gets. When Rosencrantz tires of the coin flipping, he begins cutting his fingernails and imagining what happens to the nails after death, foreshadowing the deaths in Act III. His actions demonstrate a relaxed attitude toward the world: he generally believes that everything is and will be okay, and he has no interest in worrying about unknowns. Guildenstern, however, shows a more complicated range of emotions and thought patterns. While Rosencrantz passively accepts the results of the coin flipping, Guildenstern actively struggles to figure out what the results might mean. Unlike Rosencrantz, Guildenstern demonstrates a willingness to interpret and engage with the world around him. It seems that, while they, or at least Guildenstern, would like to have some understanding of life s mysteries, they are somehow able to largely ignore an idea so central and personal as their own fates. • 46. Taking a Look at Ski Jumping The 2014 Olympics held a wide range of competitions for athletes. One of the events, ski jumping, was part of the Olympics since the first games in 1924. Ski jumping was born in 1860 when Norwegian Sondre Norheim, built the first measured jump and flew 30 metres. That record held for more than three decades. Ski jumping is a sport where skiers go down a ramp, jump, attempt to fly as far as possible, and land safely. Judges give points to skiers for proper technique and style, but those points do not add much to the total as the distance contributes to the majority of the scoring. Over the last 100 years, ski jumping has changed enormously due to the new technology made available. The modern sport involves a extreme amount of practice, patience and confidence. The sport is very popular, but also very dangerous. Factors like wind can severely effect a skiers score. The top of the hill is the start. There is a bar at the top that the jumper sits on while they are waiting and getting ready. Once ready, the ski jumper will lean forward and will naturally start accelerating down the pre made path on the platform. The in run usually has an angle of 38o to 36o, which then turns into the jump at the end of the run. The end of the run usually has an angle between 7o and 12o downhill. The ground after the jump is precisely made so the jumper is never over 6 meters over the ground. This measure is in place so if the jumper loses balance, they will not fall very far before hitting the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He further shares, What a dreadful thing it will be for me if I should be ignorant of the power of the truth which I am preparing to proclaim (2010, Chap. I). The preacher must take great care in managing his own soul before pursuing the heart of others. Spurgeon states, If they saw us, in the putlit and out of it, acting like real men, and speaking naturally, like honest men, they would come around us (2010, Chap. XII). Pastors or ministers should make it their mission to be around the lay members and connect with the congregation. One of the most important aspect of his book is the focus on preaching Christ. Spurgeon declares, Brethren, first and above all things, keep to plain evangelical doctrines, whatever else you do or do not preach, be sure incessantly to bring forth the soul saving truth of Christ and him crucified (2010, Chap. IV). This is the heart of the gospel message and the guide to the lost being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
