The Cabin in the Woods Essay
The Cabin in the Woods 1. Joss Whedon says that The Cabin in the Woods is your basic horror movie
taken apart; five kids go to a cabin in the woods to have a fun weekend of partying and possibly sex...
and are therefore dismembered . Whedon and Goddard have in essence tried to create a movie with
roots tied to the horror genre; it is simply your common slasher movie where the characters are killed
off one by one till there is either one person left or none for that matter. The Cabin in the Woods also
has ties to other genres such as comedy, this can be seen in scenes such as where they are all sitting
around in the main room, playing truth or dare, and Jules is dared to kiss the wolfs head on the wall,
also in the scene where Marty ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Firstly, the two women, Jules and Dana, are defined as The Whore and The Virgin which is two
opposite ends of the spectrum whose deaths are meant to serve as bookends for the others. The order
of deaths is irrelevant except in the case of the women. Jules, as the corrupted whore, has to die first,
and Dana, the Virgin, has to die last, that s if she dies at all. As Hadley says, The virgin s death is
optional as long as it s last. The female characters are defined only by their sexuality; nothing else
about them really matters. In certain scenes Laura Mulvey s theory of the male gaze is prevalent.
When Dana is getting undressed in her room, Holden finds out that he can see through a window into
her room, but she can t. We see the camera follow Dana up and down as she takes off her clothes, then
the camera switches back round to Holden, who we see watching her but trying to look away at the
same time. Still, the men don t fare much better with their prescribed roles. They are given the roles of

The Causes Of Urbanization In Ethiopia
may even be reduced. As the population of an economy becomes wealthier, many prefer to live in the
cleaner and quieter environments of the countryside. Thus, employees need to commute into cities for
work, for which the necessary requirements, such as public transport or individual car ownership, are
only given in more developed countries. Cities in developing countries, on the other hand, still
continue to grow. Only the pace is two to five times faster than it was in the European countries during
the period of industrialization (Kojima, 1996). Many developing countries in the world are currently
experiencing an unprecedented rate of urbanization. It is also clear that, unlike the experience of
currently developed countries, the process of urbanization presently taking place in developing
countries is not so much due to rapid industrialization. Rather, it is the consequence of growing
population pressure on land in the rural areas (Kassahun, 2000). Urbanization has largely taken place
as a result of the push of rural inhabitants to urban areas (International Labour Organization 1998).
Like many developing countries, Ethiopia remains among one of the least urbanized countries in the
world. In Ethiopia, Informal settlement is socially, politically and economically growing problems,
usually referred to residential areas where a group of housing units have been constructed on land to
which the occupants have no legal claim or which they occupy illegally. Using the Ethiopian

The Nature And Activity Of God Essay
Reading for Week # 4
Question 1: What did I learn about the nature and activity of God? I don t generally believe that God
speaks directly to me, but this summer some things have happened to me that cannot be explained
except to say some type of divine intervention took place. One of these things that happened was God
changed my long held view that I had. I myself was once a young earth creationist even though my
father (a retired Southern Baptist minister), did not believe in a strict interpretation of the 6 days of
creation. My thoughts have changed on this topic after Dr. Fiensy s OT research class this summer.
While doing research for my OT, paper I found an enormous amount of research done on the gap
theory of Genesis 1:1 3. The Hebrew wording in Genesis 1:2 leaves the possibility of an immeasurable
amount of time transacting between verse 1 and 3 (page 144 DTIB). I believe that the Holy Spirit has
led me to this revelation in my own personal walk with the Lord. I believe for me this is one of those
moments where I have experienced growth that has moved me closer in my relationship with God. I
agree that the Genesis 1 and Genesis 2 accounts of creation definitely counteract the pagan Myths of
creation (page 144 DTIB). The epic of Gilgamesh seems to share some similar words and concepts,
but Genesis 1 reminds us that all these things created were created by one God. I believe God
constructed the scriptural stories (like the ones found in Genesis 1 11) in such a way

The Negative Consequences Of The Vietnam War
The vietnam war produced many outcomes which were more negatives overall for both countries.
This war made a mark because it was a prolonged war where the essential use of the helicopters it was
used like never before. The helicopters were one of the essential transportation in the difficult terrain
of Vietnam. In this war the whole population of Vietnam was involved in a indirect and direct way .
The civilian population was mobilized to any active participation and suffered the war situation almost
in the same circumstances as military forces.
Some of the consequences felt immediately, but some surged later on with the time. After the war the
Vietnam country became rule under the communist and the U.S break relationship with the county.
Another result of the war was the death of about 57,685 Americans and around 160 thousand
wounded. Also around 5,587 prisoners of war between military and civilian that got released. The war
was so catastrophic that produced more than 2 million Vietnamese killed, 3 million wounded and
hundreds of thousands of orphaned children. Approx. 12 million refugees. The sad part was that this
war left hundreds of thousands of soldiers with drug addiction and affected by Agent Orange used
during the war. The thousands of disabled, amputees, paralytics mental disorders which were from
soldiers of both countries and civilians of any age and gender. ... Show more content on

Alternative Theories to Profit Maximization
Alternative theories to profit maximization ranging from perfect competition to strict monopolies.
Companies and The Market
Most companies are profit oriented. Companies survive and live on profit. Even governmental
institutions, NGO s and NPO s are profit oriented, what they do with profit is different though. Saying
this means that companies seek always to be at a position where profit is maximized. As we know by
now this happens when MC=MR but this is an always changing point as supply and demand are
dynamic, effectively meaning that if firms get it right once they can t just do the same eternally, they
still need to adapt to every market factor as a new change is a new reality all together that needs to be
studied and addressed. All ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One step away from perfect competition is monopolistic competition. This type of market structure
has a number of different characteristics from the above. Which turn it into one of the most used
market structures. In this scenario, companies are not all price takers and start making use of
economies of scale in order to improve efficiency, reduce costs and increase profits. In the scenario
companies sell a differentiated product at different prices. Like in perfect competition no barriers are
put to entry and newcomers a constant threat to the market keeping every player always in search for a
better mean to produce and compete.
An oligopoly, is when there are only a few number of companies that control a specific market. The
barriers to entry can be both legal/political (ie. number of licenses awarded to cell phone operators) to
the fact that the companies themselves create a cartel like attitude effectively brushing of the market
new entrants through aggressive measures like undercutting pricing on new smaller entrants,
controlling inputs for production, etc.
On the other end of the market structures are monopolies. Monopolies are generally quite inefficient in
the sense that consumers don t have a choice in terms of what to consume and generally speaking don
t offer good value for money as the company dictates the price of the good irrespective of cost (as we

Compare And Contrast O Brother Where Art Thou
Compare/Contrast Paper Tell me, o muse, of that ingenious hero who traveled far and wide after he
had sacked the famous town of Troy (11). This quote not only begins the novel The Odyssey by
Homer, but also the movie O Brother, Where Art Thou. This is only one of the many similarities
between these two pieces. The Odyssey is about the great war hero Odysseus twenty year troublesome
attempt to reach his home. His long, painful journey to reach home after the ten year Trojan War is
endured through temptations, peril, and literally hell. Odysseus story is very similar, yet very different
to that of Ulysses Everett McGill in O Brother Where Art Thou. Ulysses is an escapee from prison and

The motivation of Odysseus and Ulysses is extremely unlike one another. In The Odyssey, Odysseus
is on a journey home to restore his fame among the people of Ithica so he is not forgotten, while
Ulysses has received a letter from his wife stating that she is to get married. He breaks out of prison
for his family, rather than for his fame. He says to Pete and Delmar himself that there was never any
treasure, he only needed help to get home to his family. To Ulysses, family comes first, while
Odysseus is in it for the fame and glory. Also, the two are different due to their characterization as
Odysseus is a war hero, and Ulysses is a criminal. The two men are complete opposites and are very
different in the ways they behave, act, and in their general lifestyles. Odysseus was raised to be a great
hero, to be remembered, but Ulysses is just a simple criminal who really likes his hair products.
Odysseus is even helped by gods and goddesses such as Athena as, They threw spears as he bade
them, but Athena made them all of no effect (227). Ulysses has no help along his journey from others,
he only faces struggles throughout his entire odyssey. While the most powerful force in The Odyssey,
the gods, helps Odysseus thanks to his heroism, the most powerful force in O Brother, Where Art
Thou, the police, is against

Argumentative Essay Naps
It is evident that short naps have many benefits. However, long naps are not as good as short naps
because waking up on a long nap makes it hard to sleep at night. Furthermore, it makes people groggy.
Short naps can help many people who are sleep deprived or just want the benefits that napping comes
with. Napping can improve mental performance, health, and the body s internal clock. Naps are very
beneficial to mental performance, so sleepy people going to work should take naps. According to

The Quality Of Quality Products
Executive Summary Above everything else, what consumers want from companies is the quality of
the products that they are buying. Most consumers do not mind spending an extra buck for the sake of
having the best product available. In addition, to this, consumers will go way out of their comfort zone
to get a durable product. However, the truth of the matter is that most companies that lasted in the
market do not have this in mind. Their provision of quality products is limited to what the statistical
analysis in their books shows. If it is very expensive, then it is an unsuitable option. This has led to a
scenario whereby American companies have been left out and defeated by other competitors in other
markets. The realization of this fact has come to them at the opportune moment. And by taking
advantage of this, most American companies have adopted a system of analyzing quality that will be
analyzed in this paper. The system was not based on an aggressive strategy to gain and hold markets
founded on a competitive linchpin with high quality; they were just defensive measures to simply
eliminate defects or preempt failures which is not what managers need.
Joseph Juran s first edition of the Quality Control Handbook answered a few questions of the
defensive character of traditional quality control. The main focus on getting a grasp of the concept is
understanding where the quality movement currently is in comparison to where it was. The 1951
book, which

Cold War Dbq
Consisting of 44 years of violence and civil unrest from 1947 to 1991, the Cold War was a huge
turning point in history. The Cold War however was a war of avoidance, not combat. Defence systems
were heavily funded as deterrence to actual war, the belief being a risk of mutual annihilation would
be too great to be the side to make the first move. However, the Cold War caused a large variety of
conflict and civil unrest around the world, such as the Korean War, Vietnam War and the Cuban
Missile Crisis. The War split the world into supporting either the United States, or the USSR (Soviet
Union). Both superpowers were associated with two very different political systems; Capitalism and
Communism. The Soviets were very concerned about the spread ... Show more content on

Many Americans believed that the war ravaged country of Vietnam, had to be resurrected from grave.
Beginning in 1964 and growing in later years, anti war protests began forming. Outrage from civilians
erupted when President Johnson issued the draft, as he felt the Americans needed to take a more
aggressive action against North Vietnam. Young men refused to join the fight and protests emitted
from college campuses and major cities such as Washington D.C. and New York. ((n.d.). Retrieved

both primary sources illustrating anti war protests, showing the outrage that America had towards the
war. By 1968, the whole country had felt the war s impact. When the war finally ceased and the troops

country. America s opinions were sharply turned against the war. The veterans who fought bravely in

Advantage Of Liberal Arts College
For those who want to further their schooling in a way that focuses on undergraduate studies and
creating a well rounded education a liberal arts college is the perfect opportunity to achieve a higher
education. Some of the oldest liberal arts colleges in the United States date back to the 1600s. There
are many advantages to studying at a liberal arts college. A liberal arts education can give students the
opportunity to have a smaller environment and a well rounded education. The smaller environment
that a liberal arts college provides to students is very helpful for a successful college experience. A
smaller number of undergrad students enrolled into one s college translates to having smaller class
sizes. Jessica Velasco explains, Average class sizes at liberal arts colleges are usually less than 30
students (Velasco, College Raptor). The transition from small high school classes to college is easier if
the college classes are similar in size. This is especially helpful for students who have trouble focusing
and learn best in smaller environments. It is easier to get help when necessary. Hand in hand with
smaller class sizes is close relationships with professors. Velasco illustrates, Classes, including
introductory courses, are taught by professors at liberal arts colleges... because each class is usually
taught by a professor, this means they generally have the opportunity to spend more quality time with
their students, getting to know them, evaluating and critiquing their work much more closely, and
serving as mentors (Velasco, College Raptor). At most universities lecture classes have hundreds of
students. At those institutions, it is nearly impossible to be on a first name basis with the professors.
With a large number of students, there is often no time to build relationships. The small environment
that liberal arts colleges pride themselves on allows easy access to professors. They are able to answer
questions and personally help their students. Finally, many liberal arts colleges have many student
activities to take part in. Liberal arts colleges usually have fewer student organizations and activities
than larger universities, but participation tends to be higher, Velasco writes. Time

Symbols To Help Children To Expose Children At An Early Age
Expose children at an early age to reading environments in order to help them understand that books
are symbols that can have meaning and can be read.
At first, a young child could probably see a book as one more of his toys but as he or her are
continually exposed to reading they will learn to turn pages by themselves and later they will pretend
to read a book and make vocal sounds when reading a book.
When parents read to their children, children have the opportunity to see a variety of things that are
new to them children but others have meaning to them or they just recognize them.
When children have been exposed to reading, Children have the opportunity to learn rhythms, letter s
sound, phonemic awareness that will help them to develop reading skills.
Children and parents can be members of a reading group where they can learn new reading strategies,
social emotional skills, friendship, and network new resources that can help them to grow
academically and cognitively. Through books toddlers learn to recognize their emotions and they
imitate how to solve their problems.
Books help children to develop their imagination.
Reading books to children help them to give names for people, things, and words for actions.
Through reading, children develop listening skills. They enrich their vocabulary. They are exposed to
different places, times, animals, letters, colors, shapes, and they mirror themselves seeing images
similar or equal to them. And so on.

well defined theoretical approach that stands for an alternative to moral theories such as deontological
and utilitarian ethics. She argues that ethics of care focuses more on personal relationships and
communal ties. While bringing in the concepts of cluster of practices and values into care, she gives a
description of a caring person as one who possesses appropriate motivation to care for others and who
partakes adeptly in effective practices of caring (Held, 2006). She goes on to support the notion of
limiting both market provisions for care and the need for legalistic thinking in ethics, insisting that
care ethics possesses superior ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His name is derived from the Russian word raskolnik, signifying dissident or isolated, which is proper
since his most principal character attribute is his distance from human culture. His pride and
intellectualism lead him to abhor whatever is left of mankind as fit only to sustain the species.
Interestingly, he trusts that he is a piece of a first class extraordinary man hierarchy and can therefore
go against morals for a greater good. On the other hand, that blame that torments him after he kills
Alyona Ivanovna and Lizaveta and his repeating faintness at the notice of the homicides serve as
verification to him that he is not made of the same stuff as a genuine superman , for example,
Napoleon. In spite of the fact that he thinks about the choice to admit for the vast majority of the novel
and however he appears to be bit by bit to acknowledge the truth of his average quality, he stays
persuaded that the homicide of the pawnbroker was supported. His definitive acknowledgment that he
adores Sonya is the main power sufficiently solid to rise above his imbued hatred of humankind.
Raskolnikov s associations with alternate characters in the novel do much to light up his identity and
comprehension of himself. Despite the fact that he thinks about Razumikhin, Pulcheria Alexandrovna,
and Dunya, Raskolnikov is so made up for lost time in his distrustful viewpoint that he is regularly
unappreciative of their endeavors to help him. He swings to Sonya as a kindred transgressor of social
standards, however he neglects to perceive that her wrongdoing is vastly different from his: while she
genuinely gives up herself for the purpose of others, he basically carries out his wrongdoing for his
purpose alone. At last, his association with Svidrigailov is baffling. In spite of the fact that he detests
the man for his debasement, he likewise appears to need something from him maybe

Different Kinds Of Information Involving Macro Environment
In this project I am going to offer different kinds of information involving Macro environment (or
known as PEST) information collected in the past 10 years till present, such as, Economic growth and
decline, social values and of course the Warsaw lifestyle, demographic information and graphics
projecting different data such as age range, family status and the various ethnic groups that we can
find in the city. Second part of the project will involve information about the Micro environment (or
know as Five Forces) such as local businesses, civic groups and associations, government information,
among other interesting data that would be great to know before visiting the great city of Warsaw.
Before getting into deep information about the city, I am going to first talk about many interesting
facts about Warsaw, Poland, which many people may not know when they first go to visit this city but
I do find important for people to learn the history so they can really appreciate the city once they
arrive. Warsaw, known for its incredible history, with its first settlement in the 11th century but the
city was founded in 1300 and came under the Polish rule in 1526. It became the capital of Poland in
1596, taking over Krakow. The city of Warsaw during the World War II was almost completely
destroyed losing approximately 17% of its population and between 17th 18th century was
reconstructed with mainly old architectural style. When the Nazi occupied this city, around 350,000

Television Impact On The Television Industry
The television industry is growing, with so many genres to explore, and varying age groups producers
can target, there is always a show to watch. In western cultures the hours spent watching television has
drastically increased with the television market opens up the potential of more variety. This escalation
of television attraction has affected the way young people interact with each other. Television has
transformed the concepts of identity and commonalities among peers. To understand whether this
transformation is a good or bad, a study was done looking at the effects watching one show has on a
group of people. The study included five people, three females, and two males, all of whom are
currently watching The Vampire Dairies (TVD) based on the novels by L. J. Smith, starring Ian
Somerhalder, Paul Welsey, and Nina Dobrev. Two females who had been watching it in the past but
have sense ceased were also included in this study, in order to get the fuller picture. The accounts all
shared how the experience of watching television among young adults at the Canadian Mennonite
University has had a positive impact on their friendships. The first major theme I found during this
study was the perception everyone had about what television meant to him or her and how that
reflected how he or she defined community. No matter if it was the previews that caught their
attention, or he or she had free time to spare, or him or he had heard from friends that it was a decent
show, they

Omni Hotel Narcissism
Narcissism can be a major issue in the business world getting in the way of someone doing a good job.
Those that tend to be arrogant, require excessive admiration, have a magnificent sense of self
importance, and a sense of entitlement (Robbins and Judge, 2009). The executive chef of The Pointe
Restaurant in the Omni Hotel Charlottesville had a great sense of self worth. The presentation states
that the perfection error is perceiving we are better than we really are (Lesson 2, 2016). The Chef was
arrogant when it came to thinking everyone had to listen to him and only his ideas mattered. The
narcissist attitude of thinking everyone existed for the Chefs benefit began to get in the way of others
participating and doing their job correctly. The chef was not a great leader and his attitude would get
in the way causing employee morale to decrease.

employees to change affecting job performance. When others look down upon the work you do and
show no appreciation the employee engagement decreases. Narcissism gets in the way of allowing
those in management roles to encourage employees to do a better job. Rather than praise an employee

Are Solar Roadways the future?
In the beginning Scott and Julie Brusaw became open on the subject for creating solar powered LED
roadways, they have encountered an endless amount of doubt and even outright aggression. The
reaction was obviously expected given how new this sort of technology is. Not only is it new, but it
would quite difficult to execute the dream of electrifying roads and highways with reinforced solar
panels. Some questioned question if whether or not solar roadways are even necessary. However, the
most important company that governs American roads was willing to at least give the idea a shot.

The LEDs can also be programmed to move along with cars at the speed limit, warning drivers

warning drivers of an animal on the road, a detour ahead, an accident, or construction work. Central

THE HEALTHCARE INDUSTRY According to the business dictionary the healthcare industry
comprises of providers of diagnostic, preventive, remedial, and therapeutic services such as doctors,
nurses, hospitals and other private, public, and voluntary organizations. It also includes medical
equipment and pharmaceutical manufacturers and health insurance firms. Research by Sheingold and
Hahn (2014) supports that healthcare began as a purely reactionary, medicinal practice, in which
people learned the medicinal properties of plants through trial and error, and then passed on that
knowledge to others. It later became a subject of purposeful study by many different cultures,

Discussion and Scientific Explanation
The purpose of this lab was to create soaps and detergents and test their cleaning ability. We created
four different soaps and two detergents using different starting materials composed of oils and fats for
the soaps and lauryl alcohol and sulfuric acid for the detergents. Soaps are created by a process called
saponification, which is the formation of a salt by combing an acid and a base.1 Soap and detergent
are effective cleaning agents because they have hydrophilic and hydrophobic ends.1 The hydrophobic
ends interact with the dirt and oil while the hydrophilic ends interact with the water molecules
effectively washing the dirt and oil away.2 While soaps and detergents are very similar in their
cleaning ability, they have a major difference being that soaps are made from natural products and
detergents are made from synthetic materials.3 In order to make the soaps, we used four different
starting materials including lard, shortening, olive oil, and vegetable oil.

Personal Statement On Health Improvement Plan
For the very first time in my life, I had executed a series of behavior changes in order to lose fifteen

plan would work determination incorporated into a personalized plan. Hereinafter, I would like to
discuss in details what and why had my behavior changes improved both my short term and long term
health.
I followed the Copenhagen diet a thirteen day diet to lose weight and improve metabolism. I started
this diet on the start of semester, giving myself a week time to bid farewell to my ravenous appetite,
before disciplining myself to go through the diet. It was extremely difficult for the first few days, I
was constantly hungry and was craving for snacks between meals. I wasn t able to strictly follow what
is written on the menu, and I irresistibly ate between meals for several days when I was famished.
Fortunately, I had been able to resist the temptations of junk foods foods containing excessive calories,
fat, sugar and salt. I only ate fruits or muesli when I was feeling hungry. These acts of violation
subsided completely on the fourth day, and I started to get use to a reduced daily calorie intake.
Throughout this thirteen days, I generally had a steady loss of one pound

1984 Commentary .
George Orwell s 1984, is a novel about the life of Winston Smith living in a totalitarianism state where
Big Brother has control, power and dominates the lives of citizens. There are many significant
paragraphs which stand out in the book however I extracted the passage on pages 127, 128 from Folly,
Folly, his heart..... to ...the absence of a telescreen because it has great literary insight and significant
elements of symbolism behind it.(This is where Winston heard the prole women singing for the first

basically means the trait of acting stupidly or rashly. This depicts the protagonist s emotions towards

In the next paragraph, is the description of how Winston spotted the prole woman singing. The
window symbolizes a closure for freedom on the outside world. So basically, the women sings to the
outside world as a call for freedom. The motif sun, used twice in the sentence, The June Sun was still
high in the sky, and in sun filled court represents how far light is at reach for the women and citizens
of the country. The sun is a motif which represents light, brightness and hope which brings happiness,
however it is out of reach therefore they still yet to live in the dark. The descriptions of the women, a
monstrous women, solid as a Normal pillar, with brawny red forearms is visual image of how women
and people living in the state are unattractive as there isn t time to polish themselves and are only
dutiful and filling their responsibilities for the Party. The prole woman is also seen as a reproductive
virility as she is pegging out a series of square white things which Winston recognized as babies
diapers . The diapers represent the prole women giving birth to the future generation. The prole
women s children are a symbol for hope as Winston hopes that there will be change in the future with
hope that the proles will eventually come to realization and rebel against and overthrow the party. The

The Dark Side Of Chocolate
The Dark Side of Chocolate is a documentary that explores the underlying issues prevalent in the
cocoa trade. For most first world countries chocolate is seen as an accessible treat, however in third
world countries, the production of cocoa creates social issues that must be eliminated. Cocoa trade is
one of the largest industries in West African countries, but the issues that arise from such trade do
more harm than good. The cocoa plantations are trafficking humans to work on their plantations.
Furthermore, most instances suggest that these workers do not receive any compensation for their
work and most importantly some of these slave laborers are children. Thus, the three issues that the
cocoa companies routinely commit in exchange for lower costs are human trafficking, slave labor, and
child labor. These companies are aware of such issues but refuse to actively combat them because they
are better off financially. It can be argued that these issues can be mitigated through various social,
governmental and political policies aimed at combating these problems. The three main issues will be
addressed and the various stakeholders affected by these issues will be analyzed. Then this paper will
look at the possible solutions to these issues, whereby through government, social or political means.
Human trafficking is the first of the issues prevalent in the cocoa trade. Human trafficking occurs
when the cocoa plantations contract workers from neighboring countries to smuggle

When my family arrived in the United States as immigrants in December of 2000, we were foreigners
in a strange place. We did not know any English so my siblings and I were placed in a school that had
an English as a Second Language program specifically designed for immigrant students. I remember
being pulled out of my normal classroom regularly to work with teachers and other students on
activities that were designed to teach me English. The memory that stands out to me the most when
thinking of those classes are the teachers who patiently worked with me sounding out words in books
or writing sentences. The teachers made me excited about learning even when I was pulled out of my
regular class at times when we were watching a movie or playing games. One day we were reading

my small timid voice and as I continued reading I heard the voice of a girl who was comfortable and
assured in the words she was speaking. There were no unsure pauses or nervous stutters in my reading
and I remember feeling a sense of triumph that I could read so clearly. The separate time I received
with these teachers played a large role in my success as a student. I was able to form a comfortable
relationship that allowed me to be more engaged in the class and willing to learn without fear.

The Fundamental Issues Within The Romanian And Indian Culture
In this essay I will analyse the fundamental issues within the Romanian and Indian culture,
progressing then to understand the leadership that each culture creates and attracts. I will also present
a set of potential solutions for each of them individually, and for working together, as well as make
comparisons between my findings and Hofstede s.
Leadership in Romania is built upon the belief in a higher ordeal, therefore either on religion, or a
feeling of servitude towards God, or for the benefit of culture. The leadership that appeals to people
and motivates them to do more and be proactive, is the one that appeals to their inner sense of duty. If
that is lacking, the only second best option within the national Romanian culture is the military
leadership style. The later we have seen enforced for the past decades, and is defined by an
enforcement of power; this is at the other end of the spectrum to the desired assuming of power and
responsibility that duty is defined by, and Romanians so desire (Hurduzeu, 2015).
Regarding the above mentioned as true, there are two major solutions for bringing positive change in
Romania. People either learn how to draw their sense of purpose from their ongoing daily activities,
becoming leaders in their daily endeavours , and therefore live and act in a way that reflects their
sense and need of duty or they wait for a national leader to instill this sense into them. This polarity of
choice is described by our intermediate

from 1888 to 1905, the value of rubber greatly increased from 260,000 Belgian Francs to 39,874,000
Belgian France. The value of ivory increased as well, from 1,096,000 Belgian Francs to 4,669,000
Belgian Francs between 1888 and 1890. Although the rubber and ivory trade presented Leopold with
an enormous profit, it also lead to his downfall. The large shipments of rubber being exchanged with
guns and ammunition made people suspicious. People like Edmund Dene Morel, an investigative
journalist, and merchants who wanted to break the Congo s monopoly like William Cadbury rose up to
expose Leopold II. In 1904, Roger Casement delivered an eyewitness report and all of his details were
proven. The nations present during the Berlin Conference agreed that the power must be removed
from Leopold, but by the time the Parliament of Belgium took over the Congo, Leopold had already

Abc Hop Exercise
ABC Hop The activity ABC Hop came from some of the children that were playing in the gym. The
alphabet carpet squares were new to the gym. Some of the children were bouncing on the balls that
had the handles. I saw the carpet squares and said, I wonder if we could find the letters of our name
using the carpet squares? The children began bouncing around and trying to find all the letters to spell
their name. They were having so much fun, that I decided to make an activity using alphabet letters,
bouncing balls with handles, and carpet squares. The activity was introduced at large group time. I
told the children that the alphabet letters went missing and asked if they could please help me find
them. Olivia took each small group down to

To What Extent Did The British Colonies Acquired Self Rule
Maria Buck 06/26/2015 Instructor: Brett Williamson Class: U.S. History to 1877 (HIS151P01P10615)
British colonies acquired self rule from the beginning starting with the Puritans. Spanish colonies were
suppressed by the Catholic Church and they instituted slavery. Colonist settled British North American
for many reasons. Some traveled for profits; others came to venturing or in investment of stock
companies. But, the reason for coming are the type of colony, when the colony and when the English
settler arrived they came in encountered with the natives population, Spanish and the French
settlements. African slavery changed the new worlds demographic in the early 1600 s. During the late
seventeenth century, religion gave the Puritans the opportunity to begin a new life, achieve social
class, gain respect in the colonies, and have individual morality. Others came to America for religious
freedom, but most came for simple economic reasons. In America there was land to be had and
fortunes to be made. The colonists brought English government with them along with their pigs and
plows. In most cases, a charter involving the Royal Government back home formed the legal basis of

Beginning in 1651, the English government from time to time passed laws regulating certain aspects
of the commercial and general economic life of the colonies. Some of these were beneficial to
America, but most favored England at America s expense. Generally, the colonists ignored those that
were most detrimental. The British occasionally aroused themselves and tried to secure better
enforcement, but efforts along these lines were invariably short lived, the authorities quickly falling
back into a policy of salutary neglect. (O Mahony, Benedict. The Colonial Period. N.p., n.d. Web. 29

Applying The Following Method To Calculate The Optimal...
CE2.18 To increase the BER performance, I applied the following method to calculate the optimal
rotation angle (θ_opt) for the interleaving system applied to MQAM/MPSK schemes. The selection of
optimal rotation angle is based on finding the expression of average symbol error probability (P_s)
corresponding to θ given certain signal to noise ratio (SNR). I found out that the optimal rotation
angle (θ_opt) approximately around 8.6 degree will maximize the BER performance. CE2.19 I noticed
that the simulating process was a time consuming process due to iterative decoding. I observed that for
the calculation of probability of the binary index for kth bit, large computational load required. As a
result, memory usage was increased due to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I designed the normal BCH encoding process by using three steps using the above figure. 1) I used a
generator polynomial according to the DVB T2 standard table the error correcting capability of DVB
T2 is equal to 12. 2) I divided the message sequence using the generator polynomial in a Galois field
with α=2 and the remainder resulted in the parity check sequence. 3) I appended the parity check
sequence to the message sequence to get the BCH encoded message C2.25 I calculated fast encoding
process using G(X) = [Ik ⋮P]. The size of G(x) is Nbch × Kbch whereas letter I was the identity matrix
with the size of Kbch × Kbch and P was the redundancy matrix , the size of the matrix was Kbch ×
(Nbch − Kbch) and Nbch was the length of the binary BCH code. C2.26 I was concerned about the
implementation of the fast encoding process as it was required to build a huge matrix, which would
over exceed the range. I reshaped this huge matrix with the help of Matlab tool. Based on the
simulation results, I concluded that longer parity check will provide better the error detection as well
as correction and can pre calculate the parity check sequence. C2.27 I was assigned to design the BCH
decoder. I created a syndrome generation by substituting 2t roots of the original message in the
polynomial form of the received codeword. I used these

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome Case Study
Adolescent female with polycystic ovary syndrome manifested as depression
To the Editor: Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is the most common endocrine disorder affecting 5
10% of women in the reproductive age group (5,13). PCOS is diagnosed according to Rotterdam
criteria, when at least two out of three criteria are met: presence of polycystic ovaries, anovulation
and/or oligoovulation and excess androgen activity not associated with another endocrine pathology
(11,12).
Risk Factors/Pathogenesis: The pathogenesis of polycystic ovary syndrome is not known, and
potential etiologies are explored in a recent review (8). PCOS is currently identified as a complex
multi genetic disorder . It has a strong genetic component as evidenced by familial ... Show more

1. Authorization:
Authorization is the act of checking to determine if a user has the proper permission to access a file or
perform an action, after the user has properly identified themselves through authentication
(Username/Password). Authorization is provided to users based on a job requirement or a need to
know that allows them to access the required material. Authorization is usually determined when a
user first gains access to a system but may change over time. If a change occurs that requires more or
less authorization for a particular employee, the concerned supervisor should contact the appropriate
authority to make the change.
2. Identification:
Identification is the means through which a user is associated with and gains access to an account. The
most common form of identification in use with computer systems is through the use of a username.
Other systems use Common Access Cards (CAC), smart cards, or tokens combined with a pin code
that allow for access to a system. More complex, high security systems might use some form of
biometric to associate a user with an account and permission set. Biometrics include: fingerprint, iris
scan, facial scan etc.. something that is unique to the particular person that cannot be easily altered.
Identification allows for the tracking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This authentication is historically something only known to the individual using their corresponding
Identification code. Authentication when using a smart card or token is both the insertion of that card
into the appropriate reader and the entry of the corresponding pin code. With biometrics,
authentication is the submission of whatever reading is required (i.e. thumbprint). Successful
authentication means that you have submitted the identification of who you say you are and verified it

Remember The Titans By Director Boaz Yakin
Director Boaz Yakin created film Remember the Titans . This film was set placed in Alexandria,
Virginia in 1971. At this time T.C. Williams high school was the first school having black race and
white race together and neither race were happy about it. This film talks about how they overcome the
racism and how each individual person on the team become one as team. And analysis of remember
the titans shows people can overcome challenges by hard work, determination and perseverance. In
the begging of the film, Herman Boone which is Denzel Washington was brought in as an assistant
coach to join the all white coaching team. Couple days later, because of high school rule Coach Boone
had to be a head coach. But at first he was unwilling to take the offer the head coaching job at first
because same things had happened to him when a white coach was selected as head coach over him in
South Carolina. In this scene you can tell Coach Boone respects everybody and not hating people. But
soon He finally accepts the head coach when he sees that the black people lived in the town saw him
as a symbol of pride and hope because he could be the one could overcome the racism in the town.
When he talks with coach Yoast, coach Yoast was worried because his white kids won t start the
football team but Boone told him I aint going to cut them and eat them. Best player will play color
won t matter . In this sentence he doesn t care black or white or not, he wants to best player to win the

International Students Cope With Eating American Cuisine...
Summary Paragraph: One of the many issues that international students face is coping with American
food. With food being linked to culture, international students must face one of the hardest tasks when
coming to America, eating someone else s culture while neglecting their own. In this research project,
I will investigate how international students cope with eating American cuisine or what measures they
take to avoid it. Introduction: Nothing represents a culture better than food. Food is the fastest way for
people to bond and experience one another s culture. Thousands of students travel from international
colleges and universities. These people spend most of their life eating different foods, foods that they
are accustomed to and are naturally born to like. Before starting college, I never gave any thought of
how international students feel about consuming food of another culture for entire year or in some
cases, for multiple years. This is what gave me the idea to study the culture of international students,
including their practices and daily routines. According to The Kansas State Collegian [daily
newspaper at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas], international students attending the
University share a fear of gaining weight from eating American food. American food is portrayed to
them as greasy and not very diverse . Tang, an international student, who attends KSU claims that in
China, her friends would worry for her weight, making her watch what she

John Foster s Celebration Of Discipline
Celebration of Discipline In this chapter of Celebration of Discipline, Foster expands on the idea of
service within Christianity. Toward the beginning of the chapter Foster brings to light what self
righteous service versus true service looks like. Overall self righteous service seeks to please ones self
and desires, not the person they should be serving. Another main point that is brought up is the
relationship between humility and service. Foster says, Service is the most conductive to the growth of
humility. Humility is not something to be focused on, but something that comes when we engage in
true service. The chapter then goes on the list all the different ways to serve including the service of
small things, guarding the reputation of others, common courtesy, hospitality, listening, bearing
burdens, and sharing the word of Life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I listen to pastors preaching in church, but sometimes neglect the everyday conversations through
which God might be trying to communicate with me. I was really able to connect with idea because it
challenged me to be more open to what people have to say about spirituality, because God might have
revealed something to them that I haven t learned yet. Another point that I connected with was when
Foster talks about the service of hospitality. I believe this is something we do in our home and it has
been such a blessing to my family. Our want to be hospitable to people who are traveling or need a
place to stay has been an incredible experience. It was not something we really thought about doing
because it was an act of service, but more of a gifting I believe God has given our family to be able to
make people feel welcome and relaxed in a new

Juxtaposition In The Grapes Of Wrath
The Vines of Vindication
Economic tragedy can seem to be perpetuated at any moment in our world, whether it be The Great
Depression or The Recession of 2008. Even when we are forced into these tragic scenarios, we must
repent from our uncivilized behavior and pledge to propel positive energy. John Steinbeck s The
Grapes of Wrath displays the vindication of the human soul through the device of juxtaposition. The
structure of America had been completely ravaged by The Great Depression, and many people chose
to band together in support of each other starting a new life. Illustrated in the quote from chapter 9 that
states, We ll start over. But you can t start over. Only a baby can start over. You and me why, we re all
that s been (Steinbeck 87), we see how a baby, the paradigm symbol of new life is used to
communicate starting over, and the exemption of the past. Throughout the narrative of the Joad s path
to a new beginning, Steinbeck expresses the same idea when others aid Rose of Sharon in an attempt
to ensure her baby s health: a community of people working together to establish a future in which
them and their world has been bettered. The ability to band ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A direct correlation to this ability of being in a position to assist others, even when it isn t required,
can be seen when Tom directly covets to act more like Casy, helping others as much as he can, no

  • 2. The Cabin in the Woods Essay The Cabin in the Woods 1. Joss Whedon says that The Cabin in the Woods is your basic horror movie taken apart; five kids go to a cabin in the woods to have a fun weekend of partying and possibly sex... and are therefore dismembered . Whedon and Goddard have in essence tried to create a movie with roots tied to the horror genre; it is simply your common slasher movie where the characters are killed off one by one till there is either one person left or none for that matter. The Cabin in the Woods also has ties to other genres such as comedy, this can be seen in scenes such as where they are all sitting around in the main room, playing truth or dare, and Jules is dared to kiss the wolfs head on the wall, also in the scene where Marty ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Firstly, the two women, Jules and Dana, are defined as The Whore and The Virgin which is two opposite ends of the spectrum whose deaths are meant to serve as bookends for the others. The order of deaths is irrelevant except in the case of the women. Jules, as the corrupted whore, has to die first, and Dana, the Virgin, has to die last, that s if she dies at all. As Hadley says, The virgin s death is optional as long as it s last. The female characters are defined only by their sexuality; nothing else about them really matters. In certain scenes Laura Mulvey s theory of the male gaze is prevalent. When Dana is getting undressed in her room, Holden finds out that he can see through a window into her room, but she can t. We see the camera follow Dana up and down as she takes off her clothes, then the camera switches back round to Holden, who we see watching her but trying to look away at the same time. Still, the men don t fare much better with their prescribed roles. They are given the roles of The Athlete, The Scholar, and The Fool. The Athlete is your typical American jock who has a naturally athletic and muscly body and loves sports. • 3. The Causes Of Urbanization In Ethiopia may even be reduced. As the population of an economy becomes wealthier, many prefer to live in the cleaner and quieter environments of the countryside. Thus, employees need to commute into cities for work, for which the necessary requirements, such as public transport or individual car ownership, are only given in more developed countries. Cities in developing countries, on the other hand, still continue to grow. Only the pace is two to five times faster than it was in the European countries during the period of industrialization (Kojima, 1996). Many developing countries in the world are currently experiencing an unprecedented rate of urbanization. It is also clear that, unlike the experience of currently developed countries, the process of urbanization presently taking place in developing countries is not so much due to rapid industrialization. Rather, it is the consequence of growing population pressure on land in the rural areas (Kassahun, 2000). Urbanization has largely taken place as a result of the push of rural inhabitants to urban areas (International Labour Organization 1998). Like many developing countries, Ethiopia remains among one of the least urbanized countries in the world. In Ethiopia, Informal settlement is socially, politically and economically growing problems, usually referred to residential areas where a group of housing units have been constructed on land to which the occupants have no legal claim or which they occupy illegally. • 4. The Nature And Activity Of God Essay Reading for Week # 4 Question 1: What did I learn about the nature and activity of God? I don t generally believe that God speaks directly to me, but this summer some things have happened to me that cannot be explained except to say some type of divine intervention took place. One of these things that happened was God changed my long held view that I had. I myself was once a young earth creationist even though my father (a retired Southern Baptist minister), did not believe in a strict interpretation of the 6 days of creation. My thoughts have changed on this topic after Dr. Fiensy s OT research class this summer. While doing research for my OT, paper I found an enormous amount of research done on the gap theory of Genesis 1:1 3. The Hebrew wording in Genesis 1:2 leaves the possibility of an immeasurable amount of time transacting between verse 1 and 3 (page 144 DTIB). I believe that the Holy Spirit has led me to this revelation in my own personal walk with the Lord. I believe for me this is one of those moments where I have experienced growth that has moved me closer in my relationship with God. I agree that the Genesis 1 and Genesis 2 accounts of creation definitely counteract the pagan Myths of creation (page 144 DTIB). The epic of Gilgamesh seems to share some similar words and concepts, but Genesis 1 reminds us that all these things created were created by one God. I believe God constructed the scriptural stories (like the ones found in Genesis 1 11) in such a way ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Alternative Theories to Profit Maximization Alternative theories to profit maximization ranging from perfect competition to strict monopolies. Companies and The Market Most companies are profit oriented. Companies survive and live on profit. Even governmental institutions, NGO s and NPO s are profit oriented, what they do with profit is different though. Saying this means that companies seek always to be at a position where profit is maximized. As we know by now this happens when MC=MR but this is an always changing point as supply and demand are dynamic, effectively meaning that if firms get it right once they can t just do the same eternally, they still need to adapt to every market factor as a new change is a new reality all together that needs to be studied and addressed. All ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One step away from perfect competition is monopolistic competition. This type of market structure has a number of different characteristics from the above. Which turn it into one of the most used market structures. In this scenario, companies are not all price takers and start making use of economies of scale in order to improve efficiency, reduce costs and increase profits. In the scenario companies sell a differentiated product at different prices. Like in perfect competition no barriers are put to entry and newcomers a constant threat to the market keeping every player always in search for a better mean to produce and compete. An oligopoly, is when there are only a few number of companies that control a specific market. The barriers to entry can be both legal/political (ie. number of licenses awarded to cell phone operators) to the fact that the companies themselves create a cartel like attitude effectively brushing of the market new entrants through aggressive measures like undercutting pricing on new smaller entrants, controlling inputs for production, etc. On the other end of the market structures are monopolies. Monopolies are generally quite inefficient in the sense that consumers don t have a choice in terms of what to consume and generally speaking don t offer good value for money as the company dictates the price of the good irrespective of cost (as we ... He breaks out of prison for his family, rather than for his fame. He says to Pete and Delmar himself that there was never any treasure, he only needed help to get home to his family. The two men are complete opposites and are very different in the ways they behave, act, and in their general lifestyles. Odysseus was raised to be a great hero, to be remembered, but Ulysses is just a simple criminal who really likes his hair products. • 14. The Quality Of Quality Products Executive Summary Above everything else, what consumers want from companies is the quality of the products that they are buying. Most consumers do not mind spending an extra buck for the sake of having the best product available. In addition, to this, consumers will go way out of their comfort zone to get a durable product. However, the truth of the matter is that most companies that lasted in the market do not have this in mind. Their provision of quality products is limited to what the statistical analysis in their books shows. If it is very expensive, then it is an unsuitable option. This has led to a scenario whereby American companies have been left out and defeated by other competitors in other markets. The realization of this fact has come to them at the opportune moment. And by taking advantage of this, most American companies have adopted a system of analyzing quality that will be analyzed in this paper. The system was not based on an aggressive strategy to gain and hold markets founded on a competitive linchpin with high quality; they were just defensive measures to simply eliminate defects or preempt failures which is not what managers need. Joseph Juran s first edition of the Quality Control Handbook answered a few questions of the defensive character of traditional quality control. The main focus on getting a grasp of the concept is understanding where the quality movement currently is in comparison to where it was. The 1951 book, which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 18. Advantage Of Liberal Arts College For those who want to further their schooling in a way that focuses on undergraduate studies and creating a well rounded education a liberal arts college is the perfect opportunity to achieve a higher education. Some of the oldest liberal arts colleges in the United States date back to the 1600s. There are many advantages to studying at a liberal arts college. A liberal arts education can give students the opportunity to have a smaller environment and a well rounded education. The smaller environment that a liberal arts college provides to students is very helpful for a successful college experience. A smaller number of undergrad students enrolled into one s college translates to having smaller class sizes. Jessica Velasco explains, Average class sizes at liberal arts colleges are usually less than 30 students (Velasco, College Raptor). The transition from small high school classes to college is easier if the college classes are similar in size. This is especially helpful for students who have trouble focusing and learn best in smaller environments. It is easier to get help when necessary. Hand in hand with smaller class sizes is close relationships with professors. Velasco illustrates, Classes, including introductory courses, are taught by professors at liberal arts colleges... because each class is usually taught by a professor, this means they generally have the opportunity to spend more quality time with their students, getting to know them, evaluating and critiquing their work much more closely, and serving as mentors (Velasco, College Raptor). At most universities lecture classes have hundreds of students. At those institutions, it is nearly impossible to be on a first name basis with the professors. With a large number of students, there is often no time to build relationships. The small environment that liberal arts colleges pride themselves on allows easy access to professors. They are able to answer questions and personally help their students. Finally, many liberal arts colleges have many student activities to take part in. Liberal arts colleges usually have fewer student organizations and activities than larger universities, but participation tends to be higher, Velasco writes. Time ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Symbols To Help Children To Expose Children At An Early Age Expose children at an early age to reading environments in order to help them understand that books are symbols that can have meaning and can be read. At first, a young child could probably see a book as one more of his toys but as he or her are continually exposed to reading they will learn to turn pages by themselves and later they will pretend to read a book and make vocal sounds when reading a book. When parents read to their children, children have the opportunity to see a variety of things that are new to them children but others have meaning to them or they just recognize them. When children have been exposed to reading, Children have the opportunity to learn rhythms, letter s sound, phonemic awareness that will help them to develop reading skills. Children and parents can be members of a reading group where they can learn new reading strategies, social emotional skills, friendship, and network new resources that can help them to grow academically and cognitively. Through books toddlers learn to recognize their emotions and they imitate how to solve their problems. Books help children to develop their imagination. Reading books to children help them to give names for people, things, and words for actions. Through reading, children develop listening skills. They enrich their vocabulary. Held defines ethics of care as a well defined theoretical approach that stands for an alternative to moral theories such as deontological and utilitarian ethics. She argues that ethics of care focuses more on personal relationships and communal ties. While bringing in the concepts of cluster of practices and values into care, she gives a description of a caring person as one who possesses appropriate motivation to care for others and who partakes adeptly in effective practices of caring (Held, 2006). Interestingly, he trusts that he is a piece of a first class extraordinary man hierarchy and can therefore go against morals for a greater good. On the other hand, that blame that torments him after he kills Alyona Ivanovna and Lizaveta and his repeating faintness at the notice of the homicides serve as verification to him that he is not made of the same stuff as a genuine superman , for example, Napoleon. In spite of the fact that he thinks about the choice to admit for the vast majority of the novel and however he appears to be bit by bit to acknowledge the truth of his average quality, he stays persuaded that the homicide of the pawnbroker was supported. His definitive acknowledgment that he adores Sonya is the main power sufficiently solid to rise above his imbued hatred of humankind. Raskolnikov s associations with alternate characters in the novel do much to light up his identity and comprehension of himself. Despite the fact that he thinks about Razumikhin, Pulcheria Alexandrovna, and Dunya, Raskolnikov is so made up for lost time in his distrustful viewpoint that he is regularly unappreciative of their endeavors to help him. He swings to Sonya as a kindred transgressor of social standards, however he neglects to perceive that her wrongdoing is vastly different from his: while she genuinely gives up herself for the purpose of others, he basically carries out his wrongdoing for his purpose alone. Soaps are created by a process called saponification, which is the formation of a salt by combing an acid and a base.1 Soap and detergent are effective cleaning agents because they have hydrophilic and hydrophobic ends.1 The hydrophobic ends interact with the dirt and oil while the hydrophilic ends interact with the water molecules effectively washing the dirt and oil away.2 While soaps and detergents are very similar in their cleaning ability, they have a major difference being that soaps are made from natural products and detergents are made from synthetic materials.3 In order to make the soaps, we used four different starting materials including lard, shortening, olive oil, and vegetable oil. ... For most first world countries chocolate is seen as an accessible treat, however in third world countries, the production of cocoa creates social issues that must be eliminated. The cocoa plantations are trafficking humans to work on their plantations. Furthermore, most instances suggest that these workers do not receive any compensation for their work and most importantly some of these slave laborers are children. • 38. The Barbed Wire The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas is set in the time of the Holocaust and was written by John Boyne in 2006. It explores the evils of the Holocaust through the eyes of a nine year old boy. Bruno is ignorant of the events and horror that surrounds his childhood. He meets a boy named Shmuel the boy in the striped pyjamas (BITSP) who is a Jew from the other side of the fence. This book is about how the Nazi s discriminate the Jews because they are inferior or the other . The other is perceived as a person or thing that is different or distinct (not belonging) from another person in some fundamental way. In this book the BITSP, the others are the Jews. The others are portrayed through the eyes of most of the characters excluding Bruno. The Jews ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Come over here you he said the word again, and something about the harsh sound of it made Bruno look away and feel ashamed to be part of this all. Pavel came towards them and Kotler spoke to him insolently, despite the fact that Kotler was young enough to be his grandson. And afterwards, when you return to the kitchen, make sure you wash your hands before touching any of the food, you filthy Lieutenant Kotler repeated the word he had used twice already and he spat a little as he spoke. Characterization is a fairly used literary technique. In this paragraph it explains Lieutenant Kotler s character; he is a very angry and rude person this is portrayed through Bruno s eyes because of how he spoke to Pavel. The only reason why Kotler speaks to Pavel like this is because lesser in society and he is a Jew. The point of View is perceived through 2 people on this statement (Bruno and Kotler). • 39. The Fundamental Issues Within The Romanian And Indian Culture In this essay I will analyse the fundamental issues within the Romanian and Indian culture, progressing then to understand the leadership that each culture creates and attracts. I will also present a set of potential solutions for each of them individually, and for working together, as well as make comparisons between my findings and Hofstede s. Leadership in Romania is built upon the belief in a higher ordeal, therefore either on religion, or a feeling of servitude towards God, or for the benefit of culture. The leadership that appeals to people and motivates them to do more and be proactive, is the one that appeals to their inner sense of duty. If that is lacking, the only second best option within the national Romanian culture is the military leadership style. The later we have seen enforced for the past decades, and is defined by an enforcement of power; this is at the other end of the spectrum to the desired assuming of power and responsibility that duty is defined by, and Romanians so desire (Hurduzeu, 2015). Regarding the above mentioned as true, there are two major solutions for bringing positive change in Romania. People either learn how to draw their sense of purpose from their ongoing daily activities, becoming leaders in their daily endeavours , and therefore live and act in a way that reflects their sense and need of duty or they wait for a national leader to instill this sense into them. This polarity of choice is described by our intermediate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the Belgian Conference from 1884 1885, Leopold II became recognized as the sole ruler of the Congo Basin area. He ironically dubbed this land as the Congo Free State, which became his personal property, and where his cruel mistreatment of the natives took place. Under his rule, up to tens of millions of Africans were massacred, and even more were inhumanely tortured. Under Leopold s rule, the Congo Free State was subject to a terror regime (Religious Tolerance). He first divided the land into two areas Free Trade Zone, and the Domaine Privé. The Free Trade Zone was available to Europeans who were interested in purchasing monopoly leases of anything valuable which was mostly ivory and rubber. The Domaine Privé, on the other hand, was Leopold s personal land. King Leopold s gain in wealth is shown from a Gondola study in 1966. The study shows that from 1888 to 1905, the value of rubber greatly increased from 260,000 Belgian Francs to 39,874,000 Belgian France. The value of ivory increased as well, from 1,096,000 Belgian Francs to 4,669,000 Belgian Francs between 1888 and 1890. Although the rubber and ivory trade presented Leopold with an enormous profit, it also lead to his downfall. The large shipments of rubber being exchanged with guns and ammunition made people suspicious. People like Edmund Dene Morel, an investigative journalist, and merchants who wanted to break the Congo s monopoly like William Cadbury rose up to expose Leopold II. In 1904, Roger Casement delivered an eyewitness report and all of his details were proven. The nations present during the Berlin Conference agreed that the power must be removed from Leopold, but by the time the Parliament of Belgium took over the Congo, Leopold had already milked (Religious Tolerance) the ... • 42. To What Extent Did The British Colonies Acquired Self Rule Maria Buck 06/26/2015 Instructor: Brett Williamson Class: U.S. History to 1877 (HIS151P01P10615) British colonies acquired self rule from the beginning starting with the Puritans. Spanish colonies were suppressed by the Catholic Church and they instituted slavery. Colonist settled British North American for many reasons. Some traveled for profits; others came to venturing or in investment of stock companies. But, the reason for coming are the type of colony, when the colony and when the English settler arrived they came in encountered with the natives population, Spanish and the French settlements. African slavery changed the new worlds demographic in the early 1600 s. During the late seventeenth century, religion gave the Puritans the opportunity to begin a new life, achieve social class, gain respect in the colonies, and have individual morality. Others came to America for religious freedom, but most came for simple economic reasons. In America there was land to be had and fortunes to be made. • 43. Applying The Following Method To Calculate The Optimal... CE2.18 To increase the BER performance, I applied the following method to calculate the optimal rotation angle (θ_opt) for the interleaving system applied to MQAM/MPSK schemes. The selection of optimal rotation angle is based on finding the expression of average symbol error probability (P_s) corresponding to θ given certain signal to noise ratio (SNR). I found out that the optimal rotation angle (θ_opt) approximately around 8.6 degree will maximize the BER performance. CE2.19 I noticed that the simulating process was a time consuming process due to iterative decoding. I observed that for the calculation of probability of the binary index for kth bit, large computational load required. As a result, memory usage was increased due to ... C2.26 I was concerned about the implementation of the fast encoding process as it was required to build a huge matrix, which would over exceed the range. I reshaped this huge matrix with the help of Matlab tool. Based on the simulation results, I concluded that longer parity check will provide better the error detection as well as correction and can pre calculate the parity check sequence. Authorization: Authorization is the act of checking to determine if a user has the proper permission to access a file or perform an action, after the user has properly identified themselves through authentication (Username/Password). Authorization is provided to users based on a job requirement or a need to know that allows them to access the required material. Authorization is usually determined when a user first gains access to a system but may change over time. If a change occurs that requires more or less authorization for a particular employee, the concerned supervisor should contact the appropriate authority to make the change. 2. Identification: Identification is the means through which a user is associated with and gains access to an account. The most common form of identification in use with computer systems is through the use of a username. Other systems use Common Access Cards (CAC), smart cards, or tokens combined with a pin code that allow for access to a system. • 47. International Students Cope With Eating American Cuisine... Summary Paragraph: One of the many issues that international students face is coping with American food. With food being linked to culture, international students must face one of the hardest tasks when coming to America, eating someone else s culture while neglecting their own. In this research project, I will investigate how international students cope with eating American cuisine or what measures they take to avoid it. Introduction: Nothing represents a culture better than food. Food is the fastest way for people to bond and experience one another s culture. Thousands of students travel from international colleges and universities. These people spend most of their life eating different foods, foods that they are accustomed to and are naturally born to like. Before starting college, I never gave any thought of how international students feel about consuming food of another culture for entire year or in some cases, for multiple years. This is what gave me the idea to study the culture of international students, including their practices and daily routines. According to The Kansas State Collegian [daily newspaper at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas], international students attending the University share a fear of gaining weight from eating American food. American food is portrayed to them as greasy and not very diverse . Tang, an international student, who attends KSU claims that in China, her friends would worry for her weight, making her watch what she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. John Foster s Celebration Of Discipline Celebration of Discipline In this chapter of Celebration of Discipline, Foster expands on the idea of service within Christianity. Toward the beginning of the chapter Foster brings to light what self righteous service versus true service looks like. Overall self righteous service seeks to please ones self and desires, not the person they should be serving. Another main point that is brought up is the relationship between humility and service. Foster says, Service is the most conductive to the growth of humility. Humility is not something to be focused on, but something that comes when we engage in true service. The chapter then goes on the list all the different ways to serve including the service of small things, guarding the reputation of others, common courtesy, hospitality, listening, bearing burdens, and sharing the word of Life. ... Another point that I connected with was when Foster talks about the service of hospitality. I believe this is something we do in our home and it has been such a blessing to my family. Our want to be hospitable to people who are traveling or need a place to stay has been an incredible experience. Juxtaposition In The Grapes Of Wrath The Vines of Vindication Economic tragedy can seem to be perpetuated at any moment in our world, whether it be The Great Depression or The Recession of 2008. Even when we are forced into these tragic scenarios, we must repent from our uncivilized behavior and pledge to propel positive energy. John Steinbeck s The Grapes of Wrath displays the vindication of the human soul through the device of juxtaposition. The structure of America had been completely ravaged by The Great Depression, and many people chose to band together in support of each other starting a new life. Illustrated in the quote from chapter 9 that states, We ll start over. But you can t start over. Only a baby can start over. You and me why, we re all that s been (Steinbeck 87), we see how a baby, the paradigm symbol of new life is used to communicate starting over, and the exemption of the past. Throughout the narrative of the Joad s path to a new beginning, Steinbeck expresses the same idea when others aid Rose of Sharon in an attempt to ensure her baby s health: a community of people working together to establish a future in which them and their world has been bettered.
