In 1950, fewer than fifty thousand Americans out of a total one hundred fifty million
were members of the communist party. This was the information Senator Joseph
McCarthy used to receive permission to proceed in exploitive communist hunts.
McCarthy was dishonest in these hunts, leading to damage far beyond repair to the
United Statesand its citizens. Joseph McCarthymislead the United States by instilling
unnecessary fear in the United States citizens, creating unnecessary tension between
the United States and Soviet Union, and compromised the safety of Americans.
Re Election was approaching and Joseph McCarthy s first term was unimpressive.
Edmund Walsh suggested a crusade against communist subversives (Hall). Senator
McCarthy agreed and took advantage of the nation s wave of fanatic terror against
communism. On February 9, 1950, in his speech in Wheeling, West Virginia,
McCarthy proclaimed that he was aware of two hundred five card carrying
members of the communist party who worked for the United States Department of
State ( McCarthyism ). On February 20, 1950, McCarthy addressed the Senate and
made a list of claims and cited eight one cases ( McCarthyism ). The Senate then
called for a full investigation. McCarthy took advantage of the citizens fear of
communism, conveying how he deceived the nation to reach the superiority he
wished to achieve.

relationship between this and huge advances in medical technology in the 1960s
that introduced new machines that could be used to temporarily restore health led
to several problems. One is that these machines began to be put to use even in

start making changes is commit to the small stuff. This means recycle your paper,
metal, class, and plastic. This is not hard, and you can even get a small amount of
money back for some of your recycling. The government could be able to provide
incentives for the people in the United States, and in other countries to get them to
recycle. This could be as small as coupons to cash back. The next step is for
manufacturing companies to quit producing items that will just break down in a few
short years and rather start making things that are going to last along time and make
them out of the correct materials. Plastic does not decompose but rather sits in a
landfillfor hundreds of years. We need to eliminate the use of plastic and replace it
with a material that will last, and once it is no longer useable it can be recycled
again. As a community there needs to be changes made with in each.
Transportation needs to be eliminated as much as possible unless you think that it
is economically feasible for everyone to drop their old car and spring for the even
more expensive electric car. We would have less of a problem with switching from
gas to electric if it was possible to find an inexpensive part or make it possible for
people to trade in and not pay in full for an electric car. But other means of
transportation would not be difficult, you just have to have a system set in place such

In concert, I had enjoyed a lot. Especially the Saxophone and a piano subsequently
switched the tune of the tune as if they were dancing like two lovers. As the
saxophone took the airs as well as the piano and other instruments within the
ensemble were in accompaniment for the love of the tune the texture altered within
the tune. The tempo, which was always steady appeared to get quicker like a pulse
by the climax of the tune. It was also at this point the dynamics of the tune were
increasingly becoming louder until all instruments met using a bag on top and then

The ensemble played this piece by Cassia Lee supplied the drawn out conversation
that sounded like twirling and dancing in the moonlight with the solo as well as

of the instrumental nature of it, just as much as when the lyrics are being sung by
Celine Dion. I found listening to this tune a rewarding experience, and it turned out

wonderful. The tune was enjoyment and I loved listening to the changes over and
over again, although the tune had lots of repetition. The Jazz Ensemble concert at
Tarleton was an enjoyable evening full of intellectually exciting encounters of music
and excellent music that I wouldn t have listened to if not for this duty.

likely to be awestruck. The twin towers of the western faГ§ade rise high into the

sides and claw at the ground. Inside it is cavernous with colored light filtering in
through the large, intricate stained glass windows. All of these physical qualities
make Notre Dame a prime example of Gothic architecture. It does not stand alone in

There are few writers that could create a body of work that encompasses as many
concepts as Theodore Dreiser s Sister Carrie. His novel follows the life and times
of Carrie, a country bell of sorts who abandons her way of life in favor of a city
lifestyle. Through through Carries progress, Dreiser embodies many philosophies of
intelligence, experience, and personal growth. Many great philosophers have touched
subjects that are apparent in Dreiser s work. Sister Carrie epitomizes many ideas
defined by great thinkers such as Eleanor Roosevelt, Lev S. Vygotsky, and Aristotle.
Eleanor Roosevelt once said that Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss
events; small minds discuss people. Dreiser clearly hoped to convey a similar
message in this novel. At the beginning of Carrie s journey she converses with a man
named Chas. H. Drouet And so this is your first visit to Chicago, he observed.

Can food be used as a metaphor to organize the story of a book? Food is used as a
symbol, conceit, and a metaphor in many different ways. Cooking food can be a
symbol and represent many things that will move the story along. Food expresses
the emotions of those who prepare it. All the things a person puts into a meal, not
necessarily the ingredients, are expressed in the end product and reflected in those
who eat it. It also helps shape the relationships and build up the plot. One example of
how emotion is expressed is through foodthat has bad memories linked to the food. A
food that brings up bad memories for Tita is eggs. This is seen through the quote,
...the egg whites reminded Tita of the testicles of the chickens they had castrated...
This food comes up in Chapter 3 when Tita received roses from Pedro. Remove the
petals carefully from the roses, trying not to prick your fingers, for not only are the
little wounds painful but the petals could soak up blood that might alter the flavor
of the dish and even produce dangerous chemical reactions (Esquivel 47). The roses
are a symbol of love memories, and sexual desire, as depicted in this quote. Pedro
is clearly trying to show his affection to Tita, in a way that still is slightly subtle.
Roses are a widely known way of pronouncing your love for someone, as shown in
this book. When Tita prepared the food, the desire was reflected into it. After
consuming it, it almost ignited a fire in gertrudis to find a man. With that meal it
seems they had discovered a new system of communication, in which Tita was the
transmitter, Pedro the receiver and poor Gertrudis the medium . (Esquivel 52). In
this quote, Tita and Pedro were trying to express their love, and Gertrudis was
almost caught in the middle of it. The desire Tita poured into the meal was almost
caught by Gertrudis instead of being rightfully sent to Pedro. Roses are a way of

giving it to them or cooking it, roses are a channel through which love is transferred

is important to understand how learning works so that you can develop a strategy
to properly and quickly teach your dog. The example of training a dog to roll over
is a great model for analysing the aspects of learning involved with this process.
Understanding how operant conditioning works and how to reinforce a desired
response to that stimuli will help trainers effectively teach dogs. Psychologists,
such as Myers (2013), define learning as the process of acquiring new knowledge
and behaviors. In this case we are specifically discussing the acquisition of a

Edward L. Thorndike s principle called the law of effect, wherein he stated that
behaviors followed by a positive outcomes are more likely to increase in
