Cerebral Palsy And Its Effects On Society
Cerebral Palsy
Cerebral palsy (often known as CP) is a term that broadly covers a number of conditions in which a
person has an impairment of their motor function. Though motor skills are essential in living a normal
lifestyle, living with CP is completely manageable in today s modern world. Currently, there is no
definite cure to offset the symptoms of CP, but there are a number of treatments that can mitigate the
various effects of the condition. In this paper, I would like to discuss the effects of cerebral palsy, the
treatments involved, quality of life for those who are affected, and future research regarding the
condition. A spastic form of paralysis, cerebral palsy is notable because the muscles of an affected
body are involuntarily contracting, causing random spasms in every day movement. Cerebral palsy
affects about 1 in 323 children in America, making it the most common motor disability in children
living in America (CDC). Due to it being caused by brain injury or brain malformation, most
individuals with Cerebral Palsy are born with it, while a minority of those affected can acquire it later
on in life (CerebralPalsy). Impairments resulting from CP vary on a case by case basis, though it
usually correlates on the amount of brain damage that is present in the individual (CerebralPalsy).
Symptoms of cerebral palsy can include stiffness in muscles, variations in muscle tone, a lack in
muscle coordination, and many others (Mayo Clinic). These symptoms be relatively

Lab Report On Solid Oxide Fuel Cells ( Sofc )
Abstract
In order to decrease the number of cycles of infiltration and maintain a comparable cathode
performance, the viability of using a conductive LSF YSZ composite scaffold with one infiltration
cycle of LSCF was investigated. XRD patterns of LSF YSZ powder presented that at 1400oC and
1300oC calcination, an obvious shift in LSF peak occurred, indicating Zr doping into LSF and
forming a less conductive phase. Different ratios of LSF YSZ scaffolds were tested by impedance
spectroscopy with the results showing that the ohmic resistance decreases as the amount of LSF
increases, and 1350oC scaffold has a much lower ohmic resistance than the 1400oC one. A pure YSZ
cell infiltrated with 35 wt% LSCF was used as reference and by comparing it with a cell composed of
70:30 LSF YSZ scaffold calcined at 1350oC with one cycle of LSCF infiltration, a comparable cell
performance both in ohmic and non ohmic parts was achieved.
Introduction
In solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC), the typical cathodes with the best performance are usually
composites of the electrolyte oxide and an electronically conductive and catalytically active oxide
which is usually a perovskite.1,2 For example, in cells made of yttria stablized zirconia (YSZ)
electrolyte, the conventional cathode composite is a mixture of YSZ and Sr doped LaMnO3 (LSM).
1,2 The commonly used YSZ electrolyte oxide in the electrode is to enhance the ionic conductivity,
thus increasing the electrochemically active region in the electrode. 1 4

Synopsis Of 1000 Instruction
1000 Instruction
This budget contains a wide array of allocations. Each allocation has a specific purpose in maintain
the operational system of the school. The following is a brief synopsis of each fund. The majority of
the budget is placed in the instructional fund. This fund allows for additional classroom resources.
These resources may include paper supplies, lab equipment, calculators, and any other necessity of
individual programs. Without some allocation for supplies, many classes would not operate correctly.
Allocation also covers the replacement of broken supplies as well as perishable supplies. For instance,
this fund would give science programs the ability to buy more chemicals that have been used in years
past.

While it is not included in this budget, the school does allocate funds to support a discipline
management policy. Enid High School hires an in school suspension teacher. When it is deemed that it
is not safe or appropriate to have a child attend their regular classes, then in school suspension is

discipline problems. The separation will also allow for the security officers to investigate potential
leads regarding safety concerns. Having a separate discipline area that keeps students involved in
academic affairs ensures a safe and secure school environment. Long term goals regarding security is
the concern of the district administration. A recent bond package has allowed for additional security
monitoring. This monitoring includes security cameras. School safety is increased when the security
officers can investigate events and properly manage the students that caused a discipline issue.

York Dance Ensembles Roles
For the production of York Dance Ensembles SPACE|TIME|LINE , my position as a crew member
was the sound operator. My duties and responsibilities was to take the music required and set it in
order of the show. In addition, the sound operator must set levels for each song to ensure the music
was suitable for the audience, as well as the dancers on stage. Other everyday duties were to ensure
the speakers, god microphone, and headsets all worked properly before each run of the show. Most
importantly, I had to communicate with the stage manager during the show to know when the music
needed to be played. I prepared myself for the show by first reading the handbook manual to get a

Mandatory Compulsory Conscription For Their Citizens
War has always been a topic that will always be associated with history books. Many great empires
have fallen due to conflicts amongst its citizens. There are several countries that are still experiencing
effects of war. A lot of countries have enacted mandatory military conscription for their citizens. A
Mandatory Military Conscription also known as a mandatory military obligation, the compulsory
enlistment of people in a national service, most often a military service.( Webster 2011) This would
benefit not only the country but also the citizens that must participate in it. America has had an active
military for more than over 200 years. This country currently has over 1million active duty personal

Although the titles are similar, each section has a specific role. For instance, the combat service

2008)The Army has multiple occupational specialties that require skill. A great example is a
Laboratory Technician, however, they are still considered a Soldier they also have a primary mission
of testing fluids that come into their lab. This specialty becomes critical when a patient comes in for a
problem that is unknown to the Doctor s eye. This job can also be found out in the civilian sector.
Many hospitals are always acquiring well qualified employees that have some experience.
Another pro to joining the military is the educational support one can receive. The military offers what
is known as the Montgomery GI bill and Post 9/11 Montgomery GI bill. They were enacted to assist

The Importance Of Being Earnest Satire Essay
Morality and Foolery In times where earnestness is priority, foolery ensues to escape societal pressure
and morality takes a back seat. Oscars Wilde s play The Importance of Being Earnest highlighted this
fact with satire. In the Victorian Age of London, outward appearance of seriousness, respect, and
societal conformity are of the utmost importance. Citizens of this age were expected to uphold those
standards, even above their own happiness and health. With so much pressure to keep up with
reputations and affairs, Wilde s characters took to lying or bunburying to elude their responsibilities.
Algernon would use a fictitious invalid friend named Bunbury to leave the city for the country, then

The main women of the play, do not lead a double lives but instead impose their version of reality on
those around them and demand it be accepted as truth. Oscar Wilde wrote The Importance of Being
Earnest to expose the false virtue standards that encompassed the Victorian Age through ridicule. Lack
of compassion towards the unhealthy and less fortunate was riddled in The Importance of Being
Earnest . A sick person or invalid , as the unhealthy were termed, was actually deemed as rude and
inconsiderate. In the beginning of the play, act one, Algernon is telling his aunt, Lady Bracknell, that
he has to miss her dinner later that evening to tend to his sickly friend Bunbury . This new piece of
information upsets Lady Bracknell due to the inconvenience of putting her table out . She then goes on
to say I think it is high time that Mr. Bunbury made up his mind whether he was going to live or to
die..........Nor do I in any way approve of the modern sympathy with invalids. I consider it morbid.

events in the first place, but Lady

Tom Robinson Character Analysis
In To Kill A Mockingbird the main conflict is the Tom Robinson case. Tom Robinson was accused of
beating and raping Mayella Violet Ewell. The people of Maycomb see Tom in two different ways.
There is the public view of Tom and the private view of him. The public view would include the
people of Maycomb who do not know Tom at a personal level, while the private view would be his
family, Calpurnia, and the other African Americans in the town of Maycomb. The public see Tom as a
dangerous man. For instance in the book it states I seen that black nigger yonder ruttin on my Mayella
(Lee 231)! Mayella even said that He got me round the neck, cussin me a sayin dirt I fought and
hollered, but he had me round the neck. He hit me agin a agin (Lee 241). Both Mayella and Bob Ewell
make the people in the court believe that Tom is some sort of killer or dangerous man who should be
lynched. Even Scout thought that Tom Robinson s powerful shoulders rippled under his thin shirt (Lee
248). Tom was very built, and that did not help his case. Before Tom even gave his testimony most
people in the court and jury believed he was guilty. Furthermore, The public view of Tom Robinson
also includes that he is an abusive man that takes advantage of woman. Such as when Mayella said I
got somethin to say a I ain t say no more. That nigger yonder took advantage of me (Lee 251). After
she said this, Tom became known as a person who would hurt women in an appalling way. Another
example is when Atticus says Miss Mayella, not to be tedious, you ve testified that the defendant hit
you, grabbed you around the neck, choked you, and took advantage of you (Lee 248). Mayella states
all of these facts in her testimony; making Tom look like a untrustworthy man. One part of her story
states that she went in the house to get him the nickel and turned around an fore she knew it he was on
her . (Lee 241) . Mayella makes the chance of Tom being innocent lower with her lies; Tom becomes a
monster to the public view. On the other hand to some he is as innocent as a mockingbird. These
people know the real Tom Robinson. They belive that Tom is a generous and a hardworking man. A
quotation in the story that supports this is

Entanglement and Quantum Mechanics
Entanglement is one of the most fundamental and yet unintuitive concepts in quantum mechanics.
Maximally entangled two qubit states, often called Bell states, where shown to violate classical (local)
correlation properties [33, 34] and are an essential building block for quantum communication and
distributed quantum computation. Unfortunately, such entangled states are also difficult to generate
and sustain as interaction with a noisy environment typically leads to rapid loss of their unique
quantum properties. In the context of QSC, such an entanglement has been generated exploring
various types of interactions such as direct qubit qubit interaction [35, 36], coupling to a common
cavity mode [37] or photon mediated interactions for qubits embedded in a waveguide [38].
In this context, remote entanglement of spatially separated quantum systems have important im
plications in addressing the scaling problem for quantum information processing. Indeed, as a solution
to this scaling issue, we propose here to follow a modular approach where the quantum information is
encoded, protected and locally manipulated in small units consisting of a few cavity modes or/and few
qubits and the communication between modules is ensured through quantum teleportation techniques.
Sharing of a pair of entangled subsystems between two modules is central for these teleportation pro
tocols. While the isolation of the modules simplifies the scaling by avoiding any undesired cross talk
between the

Rhetorical Analysis Of Never Cry Wolf
Mowat s rhetorical strategies In your own words how would you describe a wolf? Probably as a
vicious, bloodthirsty kill. Well in Farley Mowat s book he aims to change that view. The book Never
Cry Wolf by Farley Mowat was published in 1963. The book is the story of when he, Farley Mowat,
goes into the Northern Canadian Plains to study wolves. While he is there he discovers that wolves
aren t as savage and bloodthirsty as everyone seems to think. In his book he uses emotion, facts and
trust to persuade us that the wolves aren t bloodthirsty and savage as everyone seems to think.
Farley Mowat used emotion quite a lot in his book. The main way he used it was personification. An
example of this in the text is when he says I could not resist

The Major Problems Of Population Overcrowding In Canada
Problems of Population Overcrowding
The day when population of GTA reach its maximum may be just around corner. Where and why are
people concentrated in GTA? Most people tend to live in cities rather than sub urban areas due to
amenities, job opportunities, infrastructure and educational facilities. Also, immigrants are the major
reason why the population overcrowded in cities. According to the Government of Ontario, over the
past
20 years, the target range of immigrants has been increased gradually. For example, the target range of
immigrants was 280,000 to 320,000 in 2017 and 260,000 to 285,000 in 2016. These numbers are
about
0.75 per cent of total population in Canada each year. (Ministry of Finance, 2007). These factors cause
population overcrowding in GTA and it may lead to several problems such as traffic jams, housing
bubbles and the rise in the homeless rate. These problems can be solved by moving infrastructure,
regulating using a car once a week and implementing training programs.
These days, some people believe that traffic jams occur more often than before. The Toronto
Transit System is slowing down due to heavy traffic. Statistics Canada stated that the number of
vehicles registered in the Control Vehicle System is 18,608,297 in 2005. But, in 2017, the number of
vehicles registered in Ontario is 11,948,296, which is almost two third of number in 2005. (Statistics
Canada, 2017).
People experience inconvenience everyday and are more at the risk of car accidents

Different Types Of Cell Research
HSC Research Paper
From brain cells to skin cells, our body is made up of 200 different types of specialized cells. One of
the most versatile types of cell is a stem cell. Stem cells are cells that have not been specialized yet; in
other words, they do not have a specific job. For example, nerve cells work to send signals throughout
your body, while stem cells do not have any specific functions. But they do possess the ability to
develop into all of the other different types of specialized cells in our body. With regenerative abilities,
stem cells are capable of renewing themselves through cell division and when the stem cell divides to
create another cell, the new cell has the potential to either stay a stem cell or differentiate into a ...

For over 40 years, they have been used to successfully treat the cancers of blood, including lymphoma
and leukemia. HSCs have showed a widespread of potential clinical uses and today, researchers
continue to advance their knowledge of stem cells and dig deeper with hopes of widening the clinical
uses of HSCs.
The first evidence of HSCs came from victims of the nuclear bombing in 1945. Research indicated
that the victims, who died over a prolonged period, had compromised hematopoietic systems; in other
words, their bodies were unable to regenerate either white blood cells to protect against infections or
platelets to clot their blood. To further their understanding, an experiment was conducted on mice, in
which they were exposed to radiation, identical to the citizens of Nagasaki and Hiroshima. The mice,
which were given the minimal lethal dose, died of hematopoietic failure during the two weeks
following after the radiation exposure, similar to the citizens. Scientists later discovered that they
could rescue the mice from hematopoietic failure by injecting cells from blood forming organs of
healthy mice. This discovery uncovered the importance of the hematopoietic system and its functions,
such as the bone marrow s role in the regeneration of blood and immune cells.
Early research of HSCs primarily focused on characterizing HSCs from other cells. Identifying and
differentiating HSCs from other cells proved to be easier said than done,

Pope John Paul II added a new set of mysteries, the luminous mysteries, which mark some of the
important teachings of Jesus life. Some Catholics carry rosaries with them everywhere, in pockets,
purses, or wallets.
Medals are small discs, usually made of metal, that depict images of Jesus, Mary, or a saint; they are
commonly worn as necklaces but show up in other formats as well. Theologically their purpose is to
remind the believer to be open to God s grace, but Catholics have traditionally believed them to carry
certain power. For instance, a Saint Christopher medal in cars is supposed to protect passengers, while
a necklace containing the Miraculous medal of Mary is said to protect its wearer. There are an
enormous number of different medals, each thought to provide a particular protection.
According to Church teaching, the most important sacramental is the use of blessings. Blessings are a
form of prayer asking God to grant grace to the person, place, or thing being blessed. Catholics often
say blessings before consuming meals, thanking God for the gift of the food they are about to eat.
Catholic parents have traditionally laid their hands on their children s heads as a form of blessing,
asking for their protection and guidance. Some blessings require the services

Kosovo Police Brutality
The fact is that, for both Albanian and Serb nationalism, Kosovo serves as a myth, a historical
narration, and a national symbol of special religious, cultural and political importance (Baliqi, 2015:
295). Nevertheless, the conflict started to warm up when Milosevic began to infringe upon the
fundamental rights of the ethnic Albanians and then later limit their access to institutions. The Special
Rapporteurs of the Commission on Human Rights of the former Yugoslavia until 1995, among many
others, found these rights to have been violated:
1. Police brutality against ethnic Albanians, such as arbitrary searches, seizures and arrests, forced
evictions, torture and ill treatments of detainees;

Subsequently, in late 1997, the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), made its appearance and conducted
several hit and run insurgencies. This gave the green light to Serbia now to issue forces in Kosovo and

of KLA men went to the KLA leader s house, Adem Jashari, and massacred 58 people among them
women and children (Independent International Commission on Kosovo, 2000; 3). By the end of the
war, forces had destroyed villages, expelled 800,000 ethnic Albanians and killed over 4,000 people
(HRW, 2001: 4 7). Here as well, the international community started to see what could be negotiated

Embryo transfer is the fourth step.
Embryos transfer is much like a pelvic exam. The fertility doctor will place a flexible catheter into
your cervix. When it is positioned about 1 2cm from the top of the uterus, the embryos are released.
Then, a serum pregnancy test will be performed two weeks after egg retrieval.
5. Hormonal support during the luteal phase with progesterone is the fifth and final step.
Studies have shown that pregnancy and delivery rates are higher when women receive luteal phase
support with progesterone after embryo transfer. Progesterone is a hormone that is produced by the
ovaries to prepare the uterine lining for implantation.
Progesterone can be administered intramuscularly or by using a vaginal progesterone product called
Crinone. Whichever method is selected, your physician will administer progesterone starting 2 days
after egg retrieval until you take a pregnancy test. Depending on your serum progesterone levels, the
progesterone may be continued after you get pregnant.

Our trip to the Sierra Nevada brewery in Chico was very enjoyable. It is always nice to take a long
drive to see somewhere you haven t seen before and be able to see new places along the way. It s only
better when you get to do it with some enjoyable people and get to learn a few things about something
as interesting as the process of brewing beer. Over the short duration of our trip I ve a acquired some
funny stories that work by themselves but I m happy that I get to tell them all. Though the drives may
have been long and the gas expensive but I would definitely do it again. Part of my story about the trip
starts before I even arrive at school. A few minutes before I get to the school I start hearing the

Later as I m driving I figure that the detour to Walmart must have put us far behind everyone else and
we were going to be the last ones there. I though it wouldn t have really mattered but then we get a
call that Nick, Joe, and I are going to be sharing a room with Logan and I m pretty sure that was
because we weren t there to protest. So our little detour did matter. It was a strange feeling once we
got all settled into the hotel room because after such a long drive we felt like were on the road the
entire day and the fact that it was already dark supported that feeling so when we got settled into our
room we felt like going to sleep but we realized that it was only about three o clock. So of course we
couldn t go to sleep then otherwise our sleep schedules would be completely thrown off so we would
just wake up in the middle of the night and not be able to go back to sleep. So after spending a couple
of hours in the room doing whatever we could to kill the time I remember that I have a Buffalo Wild
Wings gift card in my glove department that I ve had for about a year. I figured that now would be as
good of a time as any to use it and it would help us kill some time. So my temporary roommates and I
decided to go to Buffalo Wild Wings even though a couple of us didn t have any money to order
anything. I decided to order a burger and a happy hour special of nachos that were five dollars. I got

Mr. Gould s The Glass Of Wine
If we only knew what they were waiting for, Mr. Gould said, sounding more like a petulant child than
a diplomat. Monsieur Ochs set his glass down on the table. If I knew that, Mr. Gould... I would be
more than happy to go if I had any confidence that it would make a difference, Mr. Alderbeek offered.
As would I, Mr. Gould said. I suppose any or all of us would, but will it make a difference? Robert
said, becoming as frustrated as Monsieur Ochs seemed to be. As I said, I do not believe that it will,
Monsieur Ochs said, beginning to pour out another glass of wine, much to Robert s confusion, since
he already had a glass. And round and round and round we go, Robert said with a sigh. A smile played
on Monsieur Ochs s face. Then what do we do? Mr. Gould asked. We wait. Monsieur Ochs shrugged.
Tomorrow is another social event, Mr. Alderbeek said with some hope coloring his statement. Yes,
yes, it is! Robert leaped on his idea. At the Marquis de Barthélemy s home, isn t it? Yes, Mr.
Alderbeek said. We could perhaps corner the French delegation? Mr. Gould suggested. Monsieur Ochs
shook his head. Too strong. Too direct. He took yet a third glass and began to pour. But we should
speak with them, Robert argued, still watching Monsieur Ochs pouring wine. Yes. But one at a time
and with great diplomacy, Monsieur Ochs suggested, beginning to hand glasses to each of them. Once
they all stood with a glass in hand, he lifted his. To concluding this with

Teen Suicide In The Pact By Jodi Picoult
The Pact by Jodi Picoult perfectly describes a typical high school romance. The story accurately
creates a scene straight from a teen s mind. The book is based on two teens Emily and Chris, who are
in love, a love so strong they are willing to die for, or rather with each other. Emily and Chris create a
suicide pact together, but since only one of teens, (Emily) is actually suicidal, and when the gun only
kills one, the question of suicide or murder, stirs in the air. One of the most controversial points among
the friends and family of the now deceased Emily is that no one knew of Emily s suicidal intentions,
mainly because she did not express the common symptoms of a depressed person. This book
addresses the important struggles and issues teens commonly face in today s society, ie. suicide,
depression, stress and growing up. The Pact may seem like a devastatingly tragic story of two teens,
but most do not realize how this is a reality for most of the today s young generation. The article Teen
suicide by the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Shows the heart aching facts
and scary truths of teen suicide and depression. The article gets into the mental disorder and creates
more depth and truth to what character Emily Gold might have been going through in the book. The
Pact by Jodi Picoult and article Teen Suicide by the American Academy Of Child And Adolescent
Psychiatry, expresses how suicide and depression can be an undetectable tragic reality.

Home Owners Loan Corporation (HOLC) and Fair Housing Administration (FHA) are the roots to
create housing discrimination toward minority especially for African American; they help the

people faced foreclosure. In order to respond the crisis, president Roosevelt signed the Homeowners
Refinancing Act to slow down the rate of housing foreclosures during 1930s (Hillier). This policy
helped a hundred million people who was suffering from the depression and facing to lose their

Others say that the apex bank would maintain status quo on both the short term rates as well as cash

slashing its rates by 0.75% last week, some bankers feel that the RBI might consider a 0.25 0.50% cut

of huge capital inflows into India has increased and the RBI might take steps to narrow the interest
rate differential between the two countries, Indian Banks Association s chief executive H N Sinor said.
The RBI may send out a signal by reducing either the reverse repo or the repo rate by 0.25 0.50% to

respectively. While a hike in key rates might temper capital inflows, a cut in CRR would release some
capital, which could be used by banks for increasing credit offtake and thereby spurring growth, which

Framing Theory Paper
The attendance quiz question regarding losing and saving lives exhibits the framing theory. This case
scenario defines the framing theory because of the obvious variance in the language used to describe
the same outcome. The framing theory is that by emphasizing a situation or title using a certain
context of wording will activate a certain shelf to influence someone s decision or thought process.
Therefore, framing is integral to this topic of because choosing to emphasize words such as saving and
will die will influence how the respondents process this moral decision that will block them from
seeing they have the same outcome. This studies framing connects information to our heuristic
knowledge and highlights what we regard as important ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, 200 people will be saved versus 400 people will die is merely reframed it to sound more
appealing on a certain side. Therefore, this moral question about gaining or losing is focusing us to
think about our decision in the event of a catastrophic incident in which we need to weight the risk
with a negative effect of those dying and the rewards of those living. As the respondent reads the
question in the survey, our mind s natural shelf unconsciously highlights the positive parts while
interpreting the information. Most people as the study concludes, around ⅔ who took the survey
would rather see saving and triggered the conservative side with choosing the least risk option. The
strategy and outcome of framing the situation like this is to influence how we think about trade offs
and our own value system. In comparison, ⅓ chose the most negative cognitive outcome form the
surface letting 400 die. The question frames the situation for the respondents most likely choose the
most logical human condition option to save, and to frames a negative feeling about letting people die.
Although, the framed question leaves out that in both situations the same amount of people live and
die this situation illustrates how farming helps citizens make connections between their everyday
lives, their specific values (Gallagher

The Pros And Cons Of A Designer Baby
A designer baby is a baby that has been genetically engineered for selected traits by scientists and
parents. These traits can vary from gender selection to lowered disease risk and much more. In the
future, there will most likely be even more options to choose from. This process is done through in
vitro fertilization (IVF) and preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD). IVF is when an egg is
fertilization outside the body, usually in a test tube. The egg and sperm sample is usually extracted and
then the two are combined in a laboratory dish. Then, the embryo is moved to the mother s womb. The
purpose of a designer baby is for the parents to be able to artificially select the baby s genetic makeup,
usually to produce desirable traits such as appearance, personality, and intelligence, can also be
modified. This will provide the child with many advantages in life if it is given more genes that can

Why The Rich Are Getting Richer
Many people wonder in the world, why are the rich getting richer ? Which is a very important
question. Over countless years, the wealthy have found many ways around taxes like loopholes and
tax deductions. Meanwhile, the lower class are left lost and clueless to any sort of tips around taxes
and leaves them in turmoil. In Reich s Why the Rich are Getting Richer he goes on and explains just
that, why are the rich getting richer. The economic difficulties that have been circulating in America
have been making it challenging for people to pay their taxes, while only two percent of the
Americans are sitting on their high horse sponging up all their money. America is the way it is because
society doesn t sit down and take in that the wealthy are only getting richer while the poor or people in
poverty struggle to just keep up with their bills. One of the biggest things in the United States is social
security. It has put many people in trouble and I don t get why the rich are getting it after they retire.
Through the world we have always struggled with people not getting paid enough or people getting
paid to much. Most of the people are getting paid far less than what they should. Through this essay I
am going to give you information about social security and the effects it has had on lives of people,
including the rich. When first created in 1935, Social Security was first thought of, as a social

There has been a significant increase in new corporate bond issues (and other hybrid securities) that
can be accessed by sophisticated retail investors, including growth of issues by unrated companies.
Ways for retail investors to access corporate bonds have continued to develop.
Regulatory changes to reduce impediments to retail investment in corporate bonds are slowly

Ultimately, the maturation of the corporate bond market depends upon three key factors: underlying
demand of investors; potential supply by corporate issuers; regulatory and other impediments to

increasing relevance of fixed interest investments for funds with ageing members.

Secondary Prevention Programs Essay
The Secondary Prevention Programs provide treatment such as psychological counseling to youths
and adults that have violated the law. Unfortunately, there is an extreme disconnect in providing
adequate services to people that have committed crimes after they have met all rehabilitative
requirements under the law. The prison system was initially designed to rehabilitate people that have
operated outside of the confines of law so that once their debt is paid they are to assimilate back into
society. If a person completes their prison sentence and returns to normal society with no options of

part from this scene. Bubba s concern rises from Johnnie describing the dolls as well as the summer

realistic language. When the argument breaks out the two character cannot over exaggerate their
voices otherwise it ruins the purpose of realism theatre. Instead the voices had to be slightly raised in
dynamics and in pitch which will make it as realistic as possible. Also the use of subtext in the scene
gave the scene more meaning and it also addressed the concern for my character as the subtext within
the other character shows what he really means. Furthermore conventions of realism that
acknowledged the directorial focus for our scene included the convention of believable character. To
make the scene work under realism theatre, characters need to be relatable and believable to the
audience. Since our directorial focus is the betrayal of family and creating a new dream the audience
must relate to this focus as well as the characters. Another convention of realism theatre is the
convention of a Super Objective. This gives the characters a deeper purpose to this scene. In my case,

The Problem Of Crime And Crime
The way that people analyze crime has evolved throughout history and has many different forms.
Today, I am going to briefly explain some of the different theories that are used to study the subject of
crime and criminality. What I will be evaluating these theories against will be small scale property
crime such as theft. Anomie theory states that with the idea of the American dream and economic
success that the stress created by not meeting the American Dream standard creates strain (Merton,
2013). Additionally, if social institutions are weak such as the family, then the economic institution
becomes dominant and creates an imbalance, which in turn leads to higher crime rates (Merton, 2013).
According to Messner (1982) crime has been theoretically linked to poverty in both its subsistence and
the relative deprivation that is conceptualized. This just adds support to how not being able to achieve
the American Dream can cause turmoil in the family life and can lead to more criminality. When used
to explain small scale property crime Anomie theory could explains it strongly. If someone cannot
meet the American Dream standard then they may begin to pursue other means to meeting that goal.
This could definitely lead to many different crimes with property crime being one of them. You can t
afford to go out and buy the American Dream. So maybe stealing the American dream is the next best
thing. Strain theory states that when a person can t obtain success, then that person

American Montessori society started by Nancy Rambush in an attempt to Americanize the Montessori

The High/Scope, Approach founded in 1970 by the work that Dave Weikart and Connie Kamii did on
the Parry Preschool Project. These early educators thought that early education could prevent school

the environment and with others. One of the main features is that children are encouraged to be active
in their learning. Teachers in the High/Scope school classrooms are interactive often observing and
setting up problem solving situations for the children.

Marine Expeditionary Unit (MAGTF)
Present day threats and challenges on a global scale demand a rapid response in support of the
National Military Strategy s objectives of protect the U.S. against external attacks and aggression,
prevent conflict and surprise attack, and prevail against adversaries (National Military Strategy of the
United States. Washington, DC: Joint Chiefs of Staff, 2015. Print). (ARG) and Marine Expeditionary
Unit (MEU) Team, has been our Nation s force in readiness, capable to deploy within six hours and
self sustain for 15 days in response to global crisis. Unfortunately, at any given time there are usually
only two MEUs deployed across the globe. A MAGTF is an expeditionary, balanced force with four
task or capability grouped elements, a Command Element ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These MAGTFs differ in several ways from a traditional MAGTF. In a traditional MAGTF the GCE is
usually the Main Effort or the commander s bid for success. Under a conventional war construct this
would also be the case. In irregular warfare or security cooperation, the tasks or missions required,
will likely be the capabilities of the LCE. The LCE may be the Main Effort with the ACE and GCE in
supporting roles. SPMAGTF CR AF and SPMAGTF CR CC are forward deployed and conducting
Theater Security Cooperation (TSC), when not engaged in Crisis Response. With the high demand for
Marine crisis response capabilities and the shortage of amphibious platforms from which to forward
deploy forces, SPMAGTF CRs were developed. While they don t provide the flexibility and
responsiveness of an ARG/MEU, they mitigate a capability gap for the combatant commanders
(MAGTF Expeditionary Operations 8906 Coursebook, Command and Staff College Distance
Education Program). Granted a tradition MAGTF could be organized, trained and equipped for crisis
response or security cooperation capabilities. However, it is not just the unique capabilities that
differentiate these MAGTFs, it is their method of employment by providing limited redundant
capability for the

The Embodiment Of Tradition In Kate Chopin s The Awakening
Brian Sandoval 10/27/17
Mr. Amoroso AP Literature Pd. 3 Awakening LAP Topic 4 Life has an abundance of crossroads that
we must pass in order to reach the zenith of our long and arduous journey to self realization. One in
particular is the decision to stay grounded in the relative safety of the earth or attempt to soar high in
the vast sky amongst the birds and clouds. Many do not dare leave the comforts of the grass, haunted
by the swift and deathly fall that is sure to follow and therefore mark anyone foolhardy to try as idiotic
for even thinking of accomplishing the impossible. Yet who is the fool; the person brave enough to
soar, willing to risk the unrecoverable drop down or the person who has already resigned to their
position in the plains, content with this fate? Edna Pontellier, the main protagonist of Kate Chopin s
The Awakening, is conflicted by this choice after she has plucked the already fragmenting mask
society has made her wear and shattered it. Now aware of the façade and free of ignorance, Edna
seeks guidance from her close confidants in order steer herself in the right direction. Through the
conversation had with Adele Ratignolle, the embodiment of tradition, and Mademoiselle Reisz, the
embodiment of eccentricity, Edna finds the answer to her own confliction. Adele Ratignolle is the
perfect representation of the traditional woman of the 1890 s, a woman devoted to her children and
husband, the type of woman that Edna is expected to be by

Disadvantages Of Anarrchism
Coming from the Greek words outopia (meaning nowhere ) and eutopia (meaning good place ),
Utopianism is the idea of a perfect society. Although visions of this perfect society vary, most can be
characterised by an abolishment of exploitation, greed and conflict. Utopianism is often most
associated with Anarchism and because of this, many critics are often quick to deem the ideology
idealistic and unattainable. However this view of Anarchism is, in fact, over simplified itself, and as a
wider philosophy Anarchism can be broken into much smaller strands all with varying degrees of
utopian belief.
One of the main reasons that anarchism is often associated with utopianism, is that both are founded
on the principle belief of the unlimited possibilities of human nature and self development. This
theory actively rejects the social contract theory of Locke and Hobbes which believes that human
nature is selfish, greedy and aggressive and thus believes the state is necessary for a secure life.
Instead, anarchists believe that social order will arise naturally as humans have the ability to organise
their own lives in a harmonious way and reject the idea that the state is necessary. In fact, anarchist
ideology states that all authority is evil and it is such, which corrupts those within it and in the words
of Lord Acton, power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. . Although anarchists
believe in the possibility of human goodness, they also recognise that

Guppies Lab
Tail colour in Guppies
What selection pressures effect the spot brightness in guppies?
In the wild Poecilia reticulata (aka Guppies) are a highly adaptable fish that are able to survive a range
of different ecological conditions so can therefore inhibit many environments all around the world.
Guppies display sexual dimorphism which is a phenotypic differentiation
Males of this species have been known to display a variety of colours and patterns in order to attract
mates. However the extravagance of their colours can be determined on the selection pressures of their
environment.
Considering Poecilia reticulata has a relatively short life span, typically around 2 years and are good
examples for displaying natural selection through the generations. ... Show more content on

For this simulation instead of adding predators they were removed which lead to a significant increase
in brightness throughout the generations with an average of 16.50±1.69. This further supports the
theory that the presents of predators are a dominant factor when determining male brightness.
The second prediction deals with sexual selection, a form of natural selection that occurs when certain
characteristic (such as colour or sound) in an individual have a higher chance of obtaining mates. To
test this prediction, 15 females were added to Tank 1 a predator free tank, along with 15 dull males, all
of which had a spot brightness 7.0 or lower. The simulation ran for approximately 800 days and
afterwards 15 males were caught at random and their spot brightness recorded.
At the beginning of the simulation the average spot brightness was 6.35±0.97 and at the end of the
simulation there was a brightness average of 18.53±1.26. There was a significant increase which
supports the idea that there is a higher chance that in a predator free environment, female guppies
prefer to mate with males that have brighter

  • 2. Cerebral Palsy And Its Effects On Society Cerebral Palsy Cerebral palsy (often known as CP) is a term that broadly covers a number of conditions in which a person has an impairment of their motor function. Though motor skills are essential in living a normal lifestyle, living with CP is completely manageable in today s modern world. Currently, there is no definite cure to offset the symptoms of CP, but there are a number of treatments that can mitigate the various effects of the condition. In this paper, I would like to discuss the effects of cerebral palsy, the treatments involved, quality of life for those who are affected, and future research regarding the condition. A spastic form of paralysis, cerebral palsy is notable because the muscles of an affected body are involuntarily contracting, causing random spasms in every day movement. Cerebral palsy affects about 1 in 323 children in America, making it the most common motor disability in children living in America (CDC). Due to it being caused by brain injury or brain malformation, most individuals with Cerebral Palsy are born with it, while a minority of those affected can acquire it later on in life (CerebralPalsy). Impairments resulting from CP vary on a case by case basis, though it usually correlates on the amount of brain damage that is present in the individual (CerebralPalsy). Symptoms of cerebral palsy can include stiffness in muscles, variations in muscle tone, a lack in muscle coordination, and many others (Mayo Clinic). These symptoms be relatively ... • 6. Lab Report On Solid Oxide Fuel Cells ( Sofc ) Abstract In order to decrease the number of cycles of infiltration and maintain a comparable cathode performance, the viability of using a conductive LSF YSZ composite scaffold with one infiltration cycle of LSCF was investigated. XRD patterns of LSF YSZ powder presented that at 1400oC and 1300oC calcination, an obvious shift in LSF peak occurred, indicating Zr doping into LSF and forming a less conductive phase. Different ratios of LSF YSZ scaffolds were tested by impedance spectroscopy with the results showing that the ohmic resistance decreases as the amount of LSF increases, and 1350oC scaffold has a much lower ohmic resistance than the 1400oC one. A pure YSZ cell infiltrated with 35 wt% LSCF was used as reference and by comparing it with a cell composed of 70:30 LSF YSZ scaffold calcined at 1350oC with one cycle of LSCF infiltration, a comparable cell performance both in ohmic and non ohmic parts was achieved. Introduction In solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC), the typical cathodes with the best performance are usually composites of the electrolyte oxide and an electronically conductive and catalytically active oxide which is usually a perovskite.1,2 For example, in cells made of yttria stablized zirconia (YSZ) electrolyte, the conventional cathode composite is a mixture of YSZ and Sr doped LaMnO3 (LSM). 1,2 The commonly used YSZ electrolyte oxide in the electrode is to enhance the ionic conductivity, thus increasing the electrochemically active region in the electrode. 1 4 ... • 11. Tom Robinson Character Analysis In To Kill A Mockingbird the main conflict is the Tom Robinson case. Tom Robinson was accused of beating and raping Mayella Violet Ewell. The people of Maycomb see Tom in two different ways. There is the public view of Tom and the private view of him. The public view would include the people of Maycomb who do not know Tom at a personal level, while the private view would be his family, Calpurnia, and the other African Americans in the town of Maycomb. The public see Tom as a dangerous man. For instance in the book it states I seen that black nigger yonder ruttin on my Mayella (Lee 231)! Mayella even said that He got me round the neck, cussin me a sayin dirt I fought and hollered, but he had me round the neck. He hit me agin a agin (Lee 241). Both Mayella and Bob Ewell make the people in the court believe that Tom is some sort of killer or dangerous man who should be lynched. Even Scout thought that Tom Robinson s powerful shoulders rippled under his thin shirt (Lee 248). Tom was very built, and that did not help his case. Before Tom even gave his testimony most people in the court and jury believed he was guilty. Furthermore, The public view of Tom Robinson also includes that he is an abusive man that takes advantage of woman. Such as when Mayella said I got somethin to say a I ain t say no more. That nigger yonder took advantage of me (Lee 251). After she said this, Tom became known as a person who would hurt women in an appalling way. Another example is when Atticus says Miss Mayella, not to be tedious, you ve testified that the defendant hit you, grabbed you around the neck, choked you, and took advantage of you (Lee 248). Mayella states all of these facts in her testimony; making Tom look like a untrustworthy man. One part of her story states that she went in the house to get him the nickel and turned around an fore she knew it he was on her . (Lee 241) . Mayella makes the chance of Tom being innocent lower with her lies; Tom becomes a monster to the public view. On the other hand to some he is as innocent as a mockingbird. • 12. Entanglement and Quantum Mechanics Entanglement is one of the most fundamental and yet unintuitive concepts in quantum mechanics. Maximally entangled two qubit states, often called Bell states, where shown to violate classical (local) correlation properties [33, 34] and are an essential building block for quantum communication and distributed quantum computation. Unfortunately, such entangled states are also difficult to generate and sustain as interaction with a noisy environment typically leads to rapid loss of their unique quantum properties. In the context of QSC, such an entanglement has been generated exploring various types of interactions such as direct qubit qubit interaction [35, 36], coupling to a common cavity mode [37] or photon mediated interactions for qubits embedded in a waveguide [38]. In this context, remote entanglement of spatially separated quantum systems have important im plications in addressing the scaling problem for quantum information processing. Indeed, as a solution to this scaling issue, we propose here to follow a modular approach where the quantum information is encoded, protected and locally manipulated in small units consisting of a few cavity modes or/and few qubits and the communication between modules is ensured through quantum teleportation techniques. Sharing of a pair of entangled subsystems between two modules is central for these teleportation pro tocols. While the isolation of the modules simplifies the scaling by avoiding any undesired cross talk between the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Where and why are people concentrated in GTA? Most people tend to live in cities rather than sub urban areas due to amenities, job opportunities, infrastructure and educational facilities. Also, immigrants are the major reason why the population overcrowded in cities. According to the Government of Ontario, over the past 20 years, the target range of immigrants has been increased gradually. For example, the target range of immigrants was 280,000 to 320,000 in 2017 and 260,000 to 285,000 in 2016. These numbers are about 0.75 per cent of total population in Canada each year. (Ministry of Finance, 2007). These factors cause population overcrowding in GTA and it may lead to several problems such as traffic jams, housing bubbles and the rise in the homeless rate. These problems can be solved by moving infrastructure, regulating using a car once a week and implementing training programs. These days, some people believe that traffic jams occur more often than before. The Toronto Transit System is slowing down due to heavy traffic. For example, nerve cells work to send signals throughout your body, while stem cells do not have any specific functions. But they do possess the ability to develop into all of the other different types of specialized cells in our body. HSCs have showed a widespread of potential clinical uses and today, researchers continue to advance their knowledge of stem cells and dig deeper with hopes of widening the clinical uses of HSCs. The first evidence of HSCs came from victims of the nuclear bombing in 1945. Research indicated that the victims, who died over a prolonged period, had compromised hematopoietic systems; in other words, their bodies were unable to regenerate either white blood cells to protect against infections or platelets to clot their blood. To further their understanding, an experiment was conducted on mice, in which they were exposed to radiation, identical to the citizens of Nagasaki and Hiroshima. The mice, which were given the minimal lethal dose, died of hematopoietic failure during the two weeks following after the radiation exposure, similar to the citizens. Scientists later discovered that they could rescue the mice from hematopoietic failure by injecting cells from blood forming organs of healthy mice. This discovery uncovered the importance of the hematopoietic system and its functions, such as the bone marrow s role in the regeneration of blood and immune cells. Early research of HSCs primarily focused on characterizing HSCs from other cells. Identifying and differentiating HSCs from other cells proved to be easier said than done, ... • 25. Teen Suicide In The Pact By Jodi Picoult The Pact by Jodi Picoult perfectly describes a typical high school romance. The story accurately creates a scene straight from a teen s mind. The book is based on two teens Emily and Chris, who are in love, a love so strong they are willing to die for, or rather with each other. Emily and Chris create a suicide pact together, but since only one of teens, (Emily) is actually suicidal, and when the gun only kills one, the question of suicide or murder, stirs in the air. One of the most controversial points among the friends and family of the now deceased Emily is that no one knew of Emily s suicidal intentions, mainly because she did not express the common symptoms of a depressed person. This book addresses the important struggles and issues teens commonly face in today s society, ie. suicide, depression, stress and growing up. The Pact may seem like a devastatingly tragic story of two teens, but most do not realize how this is a reality for most of the today s young generation. The article Teen suicide by the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Shows the heart aching facts and scary truths of teen suicide and depression. The article gets into the mental disorder and creates more depth and truth to what character Emily Gold might have been going through in the book. Today, I am going to briefly explain some of the different theories that are used to study the subject of crime and criminality. What I will be evaluating these theories against will be small scale property crime such as theft. Anomie theory states that with the idea of the American dream and economic success that the stress created by not meeting the American Dream standard creates strain (Merton, 2013). Additionally, if social institutions are weak such as the family, then the economic institution becomes dominant and creates an imbalance, which in turn leads to higher crime rates (Merton, 2013). According to Messner (1982) crime has been theoretically linked to poverty in both its subsistence and the relative deprivation that is conceptualized. This just adds support to how not being able to achieve the American Dream can cause turmoil in the family life and can lead to more criminality. However this view of Anarchism is, in fact, over simplified itself, and as a wider philosophy Anarchism can be broken into much smaller strands all with varying degrees of utopian belief. One of the main reasons that anarchism is often associated with utopianism, is that both are founded on the principle belief of the unlimited possibilities of human nature and self development. This theory actively rejects the social contract theory of Locke and Hobbes which believes that human nature is selfish, greedy and aggressive and thus believes the state is necessary for a secure life. Instead, anarchists believe that social order will arise naturally as humans have the ability to organise their own lives in a harmonious way and reject the idea that the state is necessary. In fact, anarchist ideology states that all authority is evil and it is such, which corrupts those within it and in the words of Lord Acton, power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. . Although anarchists believe in the possibility of human goodness, they also recognise that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Guppies Lab Tail colour in Guppies What selection pressures effect the spot brightness in guppies? In the wild Poecilia reticulata (aka Guppies) are a highly adaptable fish that are able to survive a range of different ecological conditions so can therefore inhibit many environments all around the world. Guppies display sexual dimorphism which is a phenotypic differentiation Males of this species have been known to display a variety of colours and patterns in order to attract mates. However the extravagance of their colours can be determined on the selection pressures of their environment. Considering Poecilia reticulata has a relatively short life span, typically around 2 years and are good examples for displaying natural selection through the generations. ... For this simulation instead of adding predators they were removed which lead to a significant increase in brightness throughout the generations with an average of 16.50±1.69. This further supports the theory that the presents of predators are a dominant factor when determining male brightness. The second prediction deals with sexual selection, a form of natural selection that occurs when certain characteristic (such as colour or sound) in an individual have a higher chance of obtaining mates. To test this prediction, 15 females were added to Tank 1 a predator free tank, along with 15 dull males, all of which had a spot brightness 7.0 or lower. The simulation ran for approximately 800 days and afterwards 15 males were caught at random and their spot brightness recorded. At the beginning of the simulation the average spot brightness was 6.35±0.97 and at the end of the simulation there was a brightness average of 18.53±1.26. There was a significant increase which supports the idea that there is a higher chance that in a predator free environment, female guppies prefer to mate with males that have brighter ...
