2. DIFFERENT TYPES OF TEXT

3. A text is any form of
communication that is
intended to express an idea,
thought, or concept to an
audience.
- a text can take the form of
written, spoken, or visual
content.

5. Narrative writing - is essentially,
story writing. A narrative can be
fiction or nonfiction, and it can
also occupy the space between
these as a semi-autobiographical
story, historical fiction, or a
dramatized retelling of actual
events

6.  it is a style that allows the writer to
tell a story. It can include actual
events told in chronological order or
it may include imagined events told
in a timeline that the author creates.
Narrative writing can sustain the
reader’s attention and help them
visualize a realistic experience from
the words.

7. Examples:
Short stories, novels,
plays, biographies, and
narrative essays are all
examples of narrative
forms.

8. Descriptive text
- is a text that explains what
a person, place, or thing is
like, often providing a visual
experience through the use
of adjectives and adverbs.

9. it tells you what something is like.
The writer is trying to help you
imagine or 'see' a person, place
or thing. Describing words, such
as adjectives and adverbs are
used, as well as descriptions of
the five senses: look, sound,
smell, touch, taste.

10. Expository text - Expository
texts, or informational texts,
are non-fiction texts that give
facts and information about a
topic. These academic texts
are common in subjects such
as science, history and social

13. Argumentative or persuasive text
- Persuasive writing, also known
as the argument essay, uses logic
and reason to show that one idea
is more legitimate than another. It
attempts to persuade a reader to
adopt a certain point of view or to
take a particular action.

14.  An argumentative text is any writing
that uses evidence and facts to
support a certain thesis. Thus, an
argumentative essay falls under the
argumentative text definition. An
essay arguing that the effects of
violent video games on children is
overwhelmingly negative is one
argumentative text example.

15. Example:
The hourly minimum wage is not high
enough for the average worker to live
on.” This is probably a true
statement, but persuasive arguments
should make a positive case. That is,
the thesis statement should focus on
how the hourly minimum wage is low
or insufficient.

The purpose of a narrative text is to
entertain or inform the reader by
presenting a series of events in a
coherent and engaging way
Expository text - are texts meant to
inform or to educate the reader on a
specific topic. to educate the reader.

17. Descriptive text - The primary purpose
of descriptive writing is to describe a
person, place or thing in such a way that
a picture is formed in the reader's mind.
Argumentative text - The purpose of an
argumentative essay is to organize and
present your well-reasoned conclusions in
order to persuade the audience to accept—
or at least seriously consider—your point of
view. Begin at the End! and explanations,
until your conclusion seems inevitable.
