Pharmacology Of Pain Essay
Pathophysiology and pharmacology of pain remain complex despite of the recent advancements in
pain molecular and neurobiology (1, 2). Current findings suggest several new drug targets such as
transient receptor potential (TRP) channels, voltage gated potassium, sodium channels, imidazoline
receptors, cholecystokinin (CCK) receptors and novel strategies like designer receptor G protein
coupled receptors (DREADDs) and optogenetics for the pain management (3 5). Enzymes of the

Compare And Contrast The Four Forms Of Greek Government
Introduction This assignment describes the character of the four ancient governments in order to
compare and contrast the five government forms in the Ancient Greek city states. They are monarchy,
aristocracy, tyranny, oligarchy, and democracy. Monarchy A monarchy is a form of government in
which the ruling power is in the hands of a single person. Monarchy comes from the Greek terms
monos and arkhein. It is a form of in which the people are led by a king, usually with the help of a
council of advisors. He takes power legally and his sovereignty hereditary. The ruler is empowered to
remain in power for life. One citystate whose government was a monarchy was the city state of
Corinth. Aristocracy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A form of government very similar to monarchy, Tyrannies usually grew out of oligarchies. The word
tyranny comes from the Greek word tyrannos (usurper with supreme power). Many states, particularly
in the 6th century BC, were ruled by a tyrant. It first appeared in Argos or Corinth, then Sicyon,
Megara, Mytilene and Miletus. However, A tyrant usually doesn t pass power to his son, and despite
common stereotypes, not all tyrants were bad leaders. Oligarchy An oligarchy is a form of government
in which the ruling power is in the hands of a few leaders. The word oligarchy comes from the Greek
terms oligos (few) and arkhein (rule). These few are rich, powerful or both, and are usually nobles,
aristocrats, military groups or any distinguished group that rules tyrannically with their own interests
at heart. Thus it did not benefit the mass population. It is highly championed by the Spartan
government. In Sparta the Spartan who rose through the ranks and eventually serve as Ephor and
Gerousia or is a direct descendant of the royal family Agiads and the Eurypontids get together to

Explain Finnis’ Natural Law Theory Essay
Explain Finnis Natural Law Theory (30 marks)
John Finnis, an Australian legal philosopher has tried to resurrect the natural law tradition in moral
philosophy and law since the mid 1960s. He tries to offer a neo Aquinian natural law philosophy
which does not presuppose a divine being. By focusing attention on goods rather than a single Good,
Finnis skilfully articulates what he calls a theory of moral action for our day. Or, in other words, he
seeks a theory of how to live well. Finnis identifies a number of equally valuable basic goods or ends,
given human nature, there are seven. Three are substantive, existing prior to action and four are
reflexive which is depending on our choices.
The first is human life, including every aspect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While Finnis acknowledges that it may not be possible to embrace some of basic goods as
wholesomely as others, one should leave them open to all.
Similar to the second principle, the third is no arbitrary preferences among persons, to respect the
intrinsic integrity of each individual in treating people always as ends in themselves and never as mere
means. This is often referred to as the second formulation of Kant s Categorical Imperative.
The fourth is equilibrium between detachment and commitment, detachment prohibits fatalism or
obsession with specific projects, ensuring life is not drained of meaning if your objective eludes you.
Commitment prescribes that someone engages in projects and pursues them beyond hardship. You
should expand their horizons in seeking out creative ways to pursue their enterprises or we needlessly
waste opportunities for fulfilment. Principle five discusses the consequences of a decision in
particular, the limited relevance of consequences. This principle speaks to the need for efficiency in
pursuit of definite goals. Finnis rejects utilitarian reasoning as senseless and unworkable because the
basic forms of human good are incommensurable . Finnis holds that the rational agent will prefer less
rather than greater damage to a basic good in single act. The sixth principle of the nine principles of
practical reasonableness is respect for every basic value in every act. Finnis holds that in every act one
must respect all

The Effects of a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction...
Introduction
In the realm of anxiety disorders, research on younger populations falls behind in comparison to
studies on anxiety disorders in adults. (Mohr Schneider, 2013) Anxiety is one of the most common
psychiatric disorders among school age children, and yet there is still so much more to be known
about its development and treatment. (Kessler et al., 2005). Anxiety in school age children can be an
issue that interferes with achievement in school. The constant interference can cause disruption in a
child s ability retain and process information as well as focus in the classroom. (Semple, Lee, Rosa,
Miller, 2010). Anxiety in children often manifests as a disruption in attention. In turn, the
consequential lack of success in school can lead to more anxiety due to a student s negative self
judgment (Gordon, 1977). This circle of cognitive interference in school and the following negative
self judgment by the child is one that can lead to increasing levels of anxiety. There have been
multiple forms of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) that have shown some promise as treatments for
childhood anxiety (Sullkowski, Joyce, Storch, 2011). However with an increasing prevalence of
childhood psychiatric disorders, there is still somewhat of lack of research in to the use of
psychological interventions to treat them (Semple, Reid, Miller, 2005). There have been studies on the
uses of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in children. A majority of the studies on the uses of CBT

Comparing Descartes s Meditation And The Existence Of God
In Descartes philosophy he splits up his train of thought into two portions. Both of the papers discuss
his six mediations and his beliefs on existence of things/people. One of the most important highlight
of his meditations is method of doubt . In his first set meditations Descartes outlines the factors that
determines doubt in a belief. This philosophy is not completely correct to me and not convincing that
they are indubitable. Descartes eliminates the beliefs that many have created through reasoning, but
his method of elimination is very broad. I believe in order to eliminate certain things you must have
specific reasons as to why this belief is inaccurate.Having a reason being so vague and broad will only

A person not believing in a higher power will automatically make his foundations correct. The non
believer is only going by scientific information to know that something is for certain. Wheres as a
person who believes in a higher power will automatically question any belief. For instance if I
believed God created man and woman, I do not question that since the bible is where I am building
my belief off of. Whereas a person who is a non believer instantly goes by Descartes beliefs because if
it is not scientifically correct there is no other possible way that is exist. This then causes an argument

Correlation Between Hours And Depression
The results of this study did not support the hypothesis presented. However, there was a positive
correlation between hours spent and depression scores. There was no moderator effect within the
relationship of perceived social support and depression. Furthermore, some limitations played a part in
this study. First, the number of male participants in the study was low. Second, it is not generalizable
because this study was focused on psychiatric patients. Thirdly, recall bias may have affected the
subjective reporting of SNS use. Lastly, technology and social media is forever changing. Future
research on this topic can gravitate towards the growing field of technology and the early onset of
depression in individuals as young as 18. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

war and terrorism
P3: Outline the terrorism methods used by key terrorist organisations
Terrorism is an act that threatens or carries out violence with the intention to disrupt, kill or coerce
against a body or nation in order to impose will. This means that a lot of groups use this method to get
what they want. The groups use a variety of methods, groups such as:
Al Qaeda, who mainly use suicide bombing methods, this is good, because it means there are lots of
deaths. This leads to scare and forcing the Government to negotiate.
Another group, the IRA, the Irish Republican Army use assassinations and guerilla warfare tactics to
cause terrorism.

to de brief and work on a strategy for any similar future incident.
However, with war and terrorism it is more likely the personnel of Armed Forces have more chance of
losing their lives. This is because they are on the front line and have a higher chance of obtaining an
injury. This is going to affect the personnel s families as they may have to do deal with the tragedy.
Another positive that comes from war, conflict and terrorism, is the media coverage. Media means that
there is a lot more publicity and so the services will get more support and money, allowing them to get
more equipment and training. On the other hand, if an incident is dealt with poorly, then the media
will report this, meaning the public will see, this is not good.
This may change the public s perception on the Armed Forces may change because if the public see a
bad story that goes against them then the public will not have as much trust in the Armed Forces.
Terrorism can create tension between countries. With this, wars can be started, and this affects the UK
Armed Forces. This is because the army will then have to defend and fight the enemy who started the

Multicultural In Canada
Development of Canada as a multicultural nation
In the early half of the 20th century, Canada was not known to be socially accepting of different races,
nor were a lot of countries in the world at the time. However, after World War II, everything started to
change. People started to stand up to these unfair rules, like the African Canadians and First Nations
did. In other cases, like the Vietnamese, they were gradually accepted into the Canadian Society.
Throughout all the ups and downs, protests and court rulings, we can look back and thank this era for
the diversity they created in Canada. The First Nations and the African Canadian issues were
significant, but the biggest clue that signified social change in Canada was from the Vietnamese ...

Though the first nations had operated on Canadian soil long before any Europeans settled on the land,
they were still disregarded in terms of importance in the early 20th century: Aboriginal policy was
made by government without consulting Aboriginal people and with little public attention . This quote
shows how First Nations people had no voice when it came to decisions made about them, or anything
else in Canada for that matter. Aboriginals hated that they were being taken advantage of, and they felt
like they were just a pawn in the government s game of chess. However, this started to change in the
1950s when public opinion became more informed and disturbed about Aboriginal poverty and
marginality . The Aboriginals voice was finally heard in 1951, where the Indian Act was revised.
Aboriginal representatives looked to further revise the Act in 1968, but the Government had other
plans. In the Summer of 1969, the Government releases its proposal of The White Paper , which was a
plan to terminate the Indian Act, and therefore Indian status, within the next 5 years. The Aboriginals
refused to give in to the government s wishes, and fought hard to convince them of a different
approach. The Government now saw for the first time of how the First Nations could put up a good
fight. The government, who was now faced with multiple tough decisions, retreated on their harsh
demands and

Understanding Sports Organizations Summary
Chapter three of Understanding Sport Organizations, discusses organizational goals and their
effectiveness. Throughout this chapter one will learn about the value of organizational goals, the
different types of organizational goals, effectiveness versus efficiency, and different methods on
studying organizational effectiveness. The first section in this chapter discusses the value of
perceiving the organizational goals and effectiveness of an organization. The first thing to understand
is that every organization imaginable exists for some reason, and those organizations function to
achieve some type of goal. These goals are essential to an organization because it helps convey what
that organization stands for and the purpose of that organization.

Deployment In Military
The Deployment Deployment in the Army happens to about everyone. It s a hard truth, but it happens.
The soldiers are sent off to wherever they are needed, including Afghanistan and Iraq, and they put
themselves in harm s way to protect our freedom. My dad served in the Army for a few years, and he
was in this position for a year while my family was back home living in Germany. Waiting became the
custom for us; to hear from him, talk to him, and eventually see him again when he came home. My
dad was sent off in 2010 to Afghanistan and I was about nine years old at the time he left. We, my
family, had been slowly anticipating waiting his send off knowing that he had to leave soon, and it was
hard, especially as a little 4th grader. When the dreaded day came, we all jumped into his arms, giving
him bear hugs, and watched him leave, following him with our eyes until we couldn t see him
anymore. From the moment we dropped him off at the airport, we started waiting; for feedback, for
the next call, and for him to come back home in a year. Waiting for those precious moments to be with
my dad again was like torture, but there was more to come and we had to continue on. ... Show more

This is based upon findings that the majority receive short term sentences meaning that they are not
eligible for post release supervision. Also there appears to be limited resources specifically for
women, and their offending is less accepted in society. Furthermore, the majority of women are
affected by one, or a combination of the following factors; single parenthood, homelessness,
unemployment and addiction, thus indicating that re integration into the community will be more of a
challenge. It is acknowledged that efforts are being made to improve the services offered to women
via the introduction of NOMS (National Offender Manager Service), new policies and new legislation,
however these are not without some expected limitations. It is appreciated that women are not a
homogenous group of individuals and that some may not face any or as many resettlement problems

and allow effective re integration. Finally, I am aware that men do face resettlement needs, which may
differ from those of females but can also be as problematic. Nevertheless these appear to be more
effectively addressed in accordance with the current climate and a system designed with, and for, male
offenders. Therefore actions need to be taken to redesign resettlement provisions so that better and

Essay on Arts of the Contact Zone, Mary Louise Pratt
In 1990, the second Modern Language Association Literacy Conference was held in Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania. During the conference Mary Louise Pratt a Stanford Professor delivered a
keynote/lecture that revolutionized how people think about their social spaces. She introduced a
revolutionary way to think about these social spaces, instead of calling them communities she started
calling it the contact zone . According to Pratt a contact zone is a place where cultures meet, clash, and
grapple (Pratt 487). While lecturing her fellow colleagues Pratt argues that our idea of community is

Why I Want To Dance In High School
The anticipation as I stand in the concrete tunnel under the bleachers is my life s biggest moment of
uncertainty. Will the crowd stand on their feet in a standing ovation, or will the crowd deem me as
mediocre? As I look to my left and right, my teammates faces assure me that their nervous excitement
is identical to mine. When I hear the announcer on the loudspeaker and hear the students shouts, I
know it is time to walk on the sharp green blades on the field under the shining Friday night lights.
As a little girl, I would constantly walk on my toes. Because of this tendency, my parents enrolled me
in a beginner ballet class at the age of three. I learned how to walk like a ballerina, the art of pointing
my toes properly, and how to properly curtsy at the end of class. Throughout the months leading up to
the recital, my classmate and I learned a piece to perform, and I practiced in class and at home for my
parents and brother. On the day of the recital, I performed the dance perfectly in my green sparkly tutu
and the smallest size ballet slippers. However, I was disgruntled with the other baby ballerinas for

oilfields. Water flood is generally used as an economic and effective method in secondary mode
recovery after primary (natural) driving mechanisms have been depleted. Generally, water flooding
still leaves behind 60 70% of the oil initially in place (OIIP) inside the reservoir and Enhanced Oil
Recovery (EOR) methods are introduced to produce further oil from the reservoir. EOR is simply
defined as the injection of materials that do not naturally exist under the earth s surface to increase the
oil production rate of a reservoir. Primarily, there are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The addition of alkaline increase the operation efficiency by controlling the adsorption between the
rock formation and chemicals present. The injection of alkaline also generates surface acting agents
when the interaction to certain types of oils in the reservoir occurs (Hill et all, 1973). It is also well
documented that the heavy and more viscous crude oils are the most responsive to alkaline flooding.
Objective of Study
The aim of the final project is to develop a model based on meta analysis of available core flooding
dataset, thus, improving the understanding and underlying mechanisms of chemical EOR. This
required extensive and sophisticated analysis of theoretical background.
Summarizing all the above, the main objectives of this review is as follows:
Study all the evidence supporting chemical flooding in carbonate core flooding experiments. Core
flood experiments give an exact gauge of the oil activation potential through the injection of the
diverse chemicals. The procedure is however exceptionally confounded and can take a very long time
to accurately and successfully complete a solitary core sample, thusly; this paper will be restricted to
published core flood dataset only.
Identify the underlying mechanisms that have been suggested to support chemical flooding and those
that are not in support.
Report all the fundamental issues for the lack of understanding of chemical EOR.

The Evolution of Anticruelty Laws
Soon, many groups were concerned about how animals were being treated. Anticruelty laws were first
passed in Great Britain. The United States quickly followed, responding to the animal welfare groups;
insisting that the government needed to act to prevent unnecessary cruelty to animals (Judson 20).
This movement grew rapidly across the United States. In 1829, New York passed the first anticruelty
law prohibiting the malicious injuring or killing or farm animals such as horses, oxen, cattle or sheep.
By 1907, every single American state had passed anticruelty acts. By 1923, most states prohibited the
practice of neglecting and abandonment, cockfighting, and some types of hunting methods of animals
(Judson 21). Throughout the 1800s, animal welfare groups in Great Britain and the United States
pushed for their governments to pass laws to protect animals from methods such as slaughter and
animal experimentation. In 1824, welfare groups in London were already being formed. The first
society was formed, called the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Guither 2).
Later, in 1835, public policy was passed in Great Britain to consolidate and amend the several laws
relation to the cruelty and improper treatment of animals (Guither 2). Decades later, in 1911,
Parliament passed the Protection of Animals Acts, which is still n effect today. Harold D. Guither,
author of the book Animal Rights: History and Scope of a Radical Social Movement, describes this

Evil In The Bell Jar
Evil can be defined as being profoundly immoral and wicked (Oxford Dictionaries, 2017).
In my texts, evil is displayed in many forms. In Disgrace, David Lurie s evil is caused by his distorted
viewpoints and in The No.1 Ladies Detective Agency, all three cases are as a result of poverty. In The
Bell Jar, Esther s evil suicidal attempts are caused by her narcissistic insanity; in The Crow, evil is an
offset of Eric s traumatic experience and need for revenge; and in Fargo, evil arises as a result of
bullying. Each character mentioned provides a different way of expressing the evil within them.
The above definition gives us a basis in determining what research has revealed as evil s two root
causes. The first is circumstantial; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Soraya is a prostitute, whom David sees every Thursday afternoon. David sees her merely as a
beautiful object that he can make use of by stating that her beauty does not belong to her alone
(Coetzee, 2009). She is a 2D persona for David, resulting in their sex being lengthy, abstract and
rather dry (Coetzee, 2009) and Soraya avoids David as soon as he begins to pry into her personal life.
Melanie Isaacs, on the other hand, is not a prostitute but a student of David s, who attracts David due
to her purity and looks. David is unable to admit that he raped Melanie, trying to justify his actions by
saying that she does not resist (Coetzee, 2009) and that he is merely acting as a servant of Eros
(Coetzee, 2009). We are able to see how evil David is in the way that he never feels shame for his
wrongdoings, despite being disgraced (publically shamed and being dismissed by the university).
David claims that he was enriched by the experience (Coetzee, 2009) of raping Melanie and in court
says I have said the words to you (Coetzee, 2009) showing the futility of the apology. The root of
David s evilness is not deeply explored in the novel, but can be linked to his skewed mindset that
women were made as an appendage to man and to be used by man. David s deep passion for poetry of
the Romantic Era, has led him to want to follow in the footsteps of his role model, Byron, who was
known to have been a womanizer, having

The Malleus Witchcraft
The Malleus Maleficarum also showed a belief in women being more susceptible to witchcraft due to
their physical state. The Malleus was published in Germany in 1487 and was written by two monks,
Kramer and Sprenger. This text helped to spark witch trials in Cologne in 1487 and 1491 and Trier in
1497 and 1501 . The Malleus showed very misogynistic views and until its publication men had been
accused of witchcraft just as much as women . This suggests that the Malleus was a contributing
factor to the number of women prosecuted as witches. However, was the Malleus a reflection of early
modern views towards witchcraft, or was the text seen as extremist? The Malleus was divided into
three separate parts describing the nature of witches, what they ... Show more content on

Levack has been criticised by Barstow because he fails to mention gender throughout his book , and
therefore Levack as a historian may have taken an inaccurate approach to witchcraft as he avoided
discussing gender as a factor. Thurston suggests that although the Malleus represented an important
strain in male attitudes towards women , it doesn t point to misogyny as a factor behind the witch
hunts . The extent of the Malleus influence is unclear due to the fact that it was printed in 1486 1520
and then 1574 1621, however the book was not reprinted during a 50 year span which included an
increase in the number of witch trials carried out. Hence, it could be argued that the Malleus wasn t of
extreme importance, due to the fact that there was an increase in witch trials whilst the book wasn t
being printed. On the other hand, it could also be argued that the authors identified the increase in
witch trials as a reason to print the Malleus again. The Malleus Maleficarum included the papal bull
Summis Desiderantes Affectibus issued by Pope Innocent VIII in 1484 in the preface of the book, and,
as Thurston suggests, that the knowledge in the Malleus was

Persuasive Ristorante Research Paper
It may have taken me a while to find the right place but I ve officially found it! Matteo s Ristorante is
a family style Italian restaurant in Boca Raton, Florida with a comfortable atmosphere and delicious
food. As you walk into the restaurant your nose becomes overwhelmed with mouth watering smells,
you are greeted by friendly and sociable hosts, and the sounds of chatter and dishes clanking fill your
senses. The velvet cushions on the chairs, spacious tables and TV s that entertain sports fans make the
atmosphere relaxing and entertaining. Matteo s three best dishes include the baked clams as an
appetizer, the creamy penne ala vodka as an entrée, and the cold vanilla ice cream with chocolate hard
shell for desert.
Golden brown baked clams are the perfect introduction to your delectable meal. The chewy, salty,
succulent clam creates a burst of flavors when eating. The crunchy, savory, and deep fried breading
perfectly complements the clam and the buttery, garlic and oil sauce that surrounds the clams help to
add to its savory flavor. The baked clams are truly the best appetizer because they are perfect in
texture and flavor, but the penne ala vodka is the ideal climax for your meal. ... Show more content on

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Nifedipines
INTRODUCTION1 4
Nifedipine is calcium channel blocker widely used clinically, in the treatment of cardiovascular
disorders, including hypertension and angina pectoris.1. It has poor aqueous solubility, resulting in
variable dissolution rates and often irregular bioavailability.2 The combination of low aqueous
solubility and rapid absorption from the gastrointestinal tract leads to its classification into class II of
the Biopharmaceutical Classification System3.
Pellets are agglomerates of fine powders or granules of bulk drugs and excipients single most
important factor responsible for the proliferation of pelletized products is the popularity of controlled

subsequent film coating. Controlled release pellets are manufactured either to deliver the bioactive
agent at a specific site within the GIT or to sustain the action of drugs over an extended period of time.
While these results have been traditionally achieved through the application of a functional coating
material, at times the core pellets themselves have been modified to provide the desired effect. This
further enhances the role of pellets in oral dosage form

A Comparison Of King Arthur In Sir Gawain And The Green...
King Arthur was an ideal person to many people during the medieval time period. He was brave, fair,
fearless, supernatural, and honorable. These characteristics made King Arthur a legendary person.
Many stories of the King Arthur legend exist today. These stories have many similarities and
differences such as in Morte d Arthur and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. In both stories, the author
s use the code of chivalry and fantasy, but one author decides to let King Arthur die and the other does
not. In the stories Morte d Arthur and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, the use of the code of
chivalry is used on the knights Lancelot and Sir Gawain. In Morte d Arthur, Lancelot breaks the code
of chivalry because he is not honest when King Arthur ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Morte d Arthur, fantasy is used when a hand comes out of the water after Lancelot throws the sword
into the water. This is a fantasy because hands do not miraculously appear from the water. Another
fantasy is used in the story at the end when it says that King Arthur may or may not be dead. This is a
fantasy because King Arthur s son killed him when he hit Arthur in the head, meaning that King
Arthur is obviously dead. While in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight fantasy is used because a person
cannot be green, people are different shades of brown. Also, another fantasy used in the story is when
the Green Knight has his head blown off, but he still survives. This is a fantasy because he should
have died after Sir Gawain blew his head off.
However, there is a difference in the stories because, in Morte d Arthur, King Arthur dies. King Arthur
dies because his son and he are enemies. His son is after the power that he deserves as the son of a
king. So, he decides to kill King Arthur to have power, but he also dies along with Arthur. While in Sir
Gawain and the Green Knight King Arthur does not die. He does not die because Sir Gawain is the
one to accept the Green Knight s challenge of cutting each other s neck

Magical Realism, By The Tears Of Tita, Weeping Of The Guests
Wouldn t it be fun if we had Magical realism in every book we read to make us more intrigued to what
we are reading about? Without magical realism a story would be numb and have no expression.
Magical realism is a narrative fiction and it includes different elements to actually express a real life
view of the world. For instance in the book Like Water for Chocolate, the author Esquivel includes
magical realism. By using magical realism, she shows the expressions that Tita the main character has
to face and the emotional barriers she also faces. Esquivel incorporates magical realism in each
chapter and it signifies something in the novel and connects to it. Esquivel effectively uses magical
realism in her novel by the tears of Tita, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

through the novel and makes the story enthusiastic to develop an open minded setting. She brings us
to the next chapter and incorporates magical realism in which she talks about the feelings of the guests
when they had ate the cake Tita made for Pedro and Rosaura s wedding. Esquivel states but the
weeping was just the first symptom of a strange intoxication an acute attack of pain and frustration
that seized the guests and scattered them across the patio and the grounds and in the bathrooms, all of
them wailing over lost love (pg.39). These symptoms the guest had were all he feelings Tita had inside
her when making the cake, they were being transmitted to them. Further on Lam states while Tita was
preparing it, she was frustrated, sad, an angry about the wedding. Her sister was marrying her love of
her life and she was crushed. This scene represents the power of Tita s emotions and how she can
negatively affect others through her cooking . Her emotions tell a lot in this novel and makes us feel
what the author is trying to portray. As you could see the author Esquivel adds a lot of magical realism
to make it more intrigued and an open minded setting. She furthermore keeps adding on and still
continue to guide us through the story. Another example, are the feelings of Gertrudis in which she

Jason Derulo s Song The Other Side
What does an individual characterize as how a song can define themselves? Jason Derulo s song The
Other Side can define an American individual s longing to find someone else to complete themselves.
An American individual is someone who falls in love without even trying. It begins with the
friendship of two people, then slowly escalates to something more meaningful. If the individuals agree
it is the right move for them to become a couple, ignoring the feeling of doubt and the fear of losing
the other one, then it will happen. Yet, sometimes everything falls into place as if it were meant to be.
Furthermore, Jason Derulo elaborates on the contrasting ideas most individuals face with whether or
not to take a step further with the relationship.

The Most Ancient Predatory Class Of Arthropods Essay
Scorpions are the most ancient predatory class of arthropods that lived on earth for millions of years.
There have been more than 1,500 species of scorpions identified worldwide and there are only 25 of
them venomous to humans and other organism. Scorpions venom has played a critical role in their
survival due to its exceptional mixture of component which consists of enzymes, short peptides,
simple amino acids and other chemical secreted from the venom glands. These short peptides (30 80
amino acid) are often identified and known as toxins that the scorpion use by means of self protection
against other organisms. In recent decades, both medical and therapeutic fields turn their attention to
study scorpions as significant laboratory animals due to their physiological characteristics. The
different toxins produced by the venomous scorpions have opened new horizon towards using them to
either design specific drugs and antibodies or find alternative tools in identifying a certain disease
such as cancer. Although these toxins have different modes of actions and targets, the majority of them
affect the nervous system and are classified as neurotoxins because they either alter specific ion
channel binding and movement across cell membrane or affect neurotransmitter transmissions in the
synaptic cleft. In order to explore closely the different features of these neurotoxins, a toxin called
chlorotoxin will be discussed. Chlorotoxin or (CTX) is a type of toxin that is isolated from

GMail Image Caching Measures the Effectiveness of an Email...
Why Gmail s Adding Image Caching is Important
Because image tracking can be used to measure the effectiveness of an email marketing campaign,
based in some part on the open rate, it has become a fundamental part of the email marketers took kit.
Therefore, Gmail s decision in December 2013, to add image cashing, seems to have created concerns
for a great many people, not all of these concerns can yet be answered. It is also worth remembering
that Gmail has in the past decided to roll things out, and then taken the decision to roll them back in
favour of a phased transition to deployment.
According to Google the reason they have made these changes is to make messages more safe, secure
and faster than ever before whether using your computer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Reputedly, Google claim to have resolved the malware issue by hosting images via a proxy server.
This means that any embedded malware contained in an email won t show up. Security researchers
claim that this new technology poses an even more serious threat, in that Google are now able to read
its users messages both without their permission, and whether or not the messages have been opened.
There have also been claims that spammers are able to email the same image to everyone, assigning
every image with a unique url. Each url would then provide a tracking facility informing spammers if
the email had in fact been opened or not.
Google responded by saying they offer a feature that allow users to opt out of displaying any images
in emails. They also said that they can remove the proxy server if the image display was a problem,
and require the user to press show images.
The Impact on Using Email Marketing for Businesses
For users of Gmail the changes simply mean that images contained in the emails they receive will be
automatically displayed in the messages, without the need to click on a link to view it.
Businesses that use email marketing, specifically analytical packages, the data of certain data could be
affected. The data will now be sourced from the Google proxy servers as opposed to previously pulled
directly from recipients directly opening the marketing messages. Whilst

The Night Circus Themes
The Night Circus written by Erin Morgenstern depicts the tale of two lovers bound by a challenge that
forces them to compete against each other. It is a romantic tale, from which the reader can develop a
strong sense of emotion with the two lovers. Morgenstern uses the character Bailey to demonstrate the
ideas of, love, passion vs obsession and magic in this novel. She engages the reader with an exciting
story line and uses a lot of symbolism.
One of the themes that exists throughout the book is the power of love, how decisions driven by love,
can change a person s life for betterment. Numerous times in the book, characters are forced to make
life changing decisions. A significant example in The Night Circus is when Bailey faced an extremely

In the novel, the circus itself is a symbol of the riddle of life and a symbol of dreams. The story gives
a hopeful perspective to which it depicts the capacity to overcome obstacles utilizing passion.
Nonetheless, there is an all encompassing topic to which the author portrays a darker message where
the failure to isolate passion from obsession prompts the downfall one s character and the blurring one
s judgment. A notable example in The Night Circus would be Bailey s obsession with the circus.
Bailey is the son of farmers in Massachusetts and portrays obsessive behaviour towards the circus. a
solitary white glove that has gone rather grey...being kept in a small box with rocks, (Morgenstern

dad wants him to take over the family farm and he was conceded into the Cambridge and Harvard. His
over the top conduct with the circus clouds his judgment as surrenders all family desires to become a
part of the circus. He abandons his family without a goodbye. Bailey can outweigh the circus over his
own family and disregard his friends and family who raised him, tended to him and gave their time to
him. Many people trust that family is a standout amongst the most vital parts of life, and surely it is,
yet Bailey can surrender all that only for his obsession with the

Stereotypes In Twelfth Night
William Shakespeare s Twelfth Night is a comedy about Viola, a woman who washes up in Illyria and
then assumes the role of a man in order to be closer to Orsino, the man she wants to marry. It involves
multiple cases of mistaken identities and deception. The stereotypical role of the sexes and gender also
have a significant impact in the play. Ultimately it provides the opportunity to disrupt the fixed
polarities upon which the normative Elizabethan society is based. This essay will discuss Belsey s
statement that the closing of the play voids the transgressive gaps in sexual stereotypes. This will be
done by considering the historical context and the sexual norms of the time and to what extent they are
transgressed in Twelfth Night.
Historically the play is set during a time when homosexuality was governed under the ... Show more

Charles is of opinion that, the representation of homoerotic attraction in Twelfth Night functions rather
as a means of dramatizing the socially constructed basis of a sexuality that is determined by gender
identity (Charles 1997:122). As mentioned above, homosexuality was not acceptable in the
Elizabethan society for the most part. It was even considered as sodomy. Before the twins, Viola and
Sebastian, are married to heterosexual partners, both are involved in some form of homosexual
relationship. While Oliva seems to be unaware of Cesario/Viola s true sex, the hint at the possibility of
homoeroticism through dramatic irony is already enough to disrupt the stereotypical gender system.
After Malvolio presents Viola/Cesario with Olivia s ring, Cesarios says, I am the man; if it be so, as
tis,/Poor lady, she were better love a dream (Shakespeare 2004:84). Charles explains the best stating
that dramatic irony tells us Oliva s true hidden passion is for the female character (Charles 1997:133).

  • 4. Compare And Contrast The Four Forms Of Greek Government Introduction This assignment describes the character of the four ancient governments in order to compare and contrast the five government forms in the Ancient Greek city states. They are monarchy, aristocracy, tyranny, oligarchy, and democracy. Monarchy A monarchy is a form of government in which the ruling power is in the hands of a single person. Monarchy comes from the Greek terms monos and arkhein. It is a form of in which the people are led by a king, usually with the help of a council of advisors. He takes power legally and his sovereignty hereditary. The ruler is empowered to remain in power for life. One citystate whose government was a monarchy was the city state of Corinth. Aristocracy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A form of government very similar to monarchy, Tyrannies usually grew out of oligarchies. The word tyranny comes from the Greek word tyrannos (usurper with supreme power). Many states, particularly in the 6th century BC, were ruled by a tyrant. It first appeared in Argos or Corinth, then Sicyon, Megara, Mytilene and Miletus. However, A tyrant usually doesn t pass power to his son, and despite common stereotypes, not all tyrants were bad leaders. Oligarchy An oligarchy is a form of government in which the ruling power is in the hands of a few leaders. The word oligarchy comes from the Greek terms oligos (few) and arkhein (rule). These few are rich, powerful or both, and are usually nobles, aristocrats, military groups or any distinguished group that rules tyrannically with their own interests at heart. Thus it did not benefit the mass population. It is highly championed by the Spartan government. • 5. Explain Finnis’ Natural Law Theory Essay Explain Finnis Natural Law Theory (30 marks) John Finnis, an Australian legal philosopher has tried to resurrect the natural law tradition in moral philosophy and law since the mid 1960s. He tries to offer a neo Aquinian natural law philosophy which does not presuppose a divine being. By focusing attention on goods rather than a single Good, Finnis skilfully articulates what he calls a theory of moral action for our day. Or, in other words, he seeks a theory of how to live well. Finnis identifies a number of equally valuable basic goods or ends, given human nature, there are seven. Three are substantive, existing prior to action and four are reflexive which is depending on our choices. The first is human life, including every aspect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While Finnis acknowledges that it may not be possible to embrace some of basic goods as wholesomely as others, one should leave them open to all. Similar to the second principle, the third is no arbitrary preferences among persons, to respect the intrinsic integrity of each individual in treating people always as ends in themselves and never as mere means. This is often referred to as the second formulation of Kant s Categorical Imperative. The fourth is equilibrium between detachment and commitment, detachment prohibits fatalism or obsession with specific projects, ensuring life is not drained of meaning if your objective eludes you. Commitment prescribes that someone engages in projects and pursues them beyond hardship. You should expand their horizons in seeking out creative ways to pursue their enterprises or we needlessly waste opportunities for fulfilment. Principle five discusses the consequences of a decision in particular, the limited relevance of consequences. This principle speaks to the need for efficiency in pursuit of definite goals. Finnis rejects utilitarian reasoning as senseless and unworkable because the basic forms of human good are incommensurable . Finnis holds that the rational agent will prefer less rather than greater damage to a basic good in single act. The sixth principle of the nine principles of practical reasonableness is respect for every basic value in every act. Finnis holds that in every act one must respect all ... • 6. The Effects of a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction... Introduction In the realm of anxiety disorders, research on younger populations falls behind in comparison to studies on anxiety disorders in adults. (Mohr Schneider, 2013) Anxiety is one of the most common psychiatric disorders among school age children, and yet there is still so much more to be known about its development and treatment. (Kessler et al., 2005). Anxiety in school age children can be an issue that interferes with achievement in school. The constant interference can cause disruption in a child s ability retain and process information as well as focus in the classroom. (Semple, Lee, Rosa, Miller, 2010). Anxiety in children often manifests as a disruption in attention. In turn, the consequential lack of success in school can lead to more anxiety due to a student s negative self judgment (Gordon, 1977). This circle of cognitive interference in school and the following negative self judgment by the child is one that can lead to increasing levels of anxiety. There have been multiple forms of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) that have shown some promise as treatments for childhood anxiety (Sullkowski, Joyce, Storch, 2011). However with an increasing prevalence of childhood psychiatric disorders, there is still somewhat of lack of research in to the use of psychological interventions to treat them (Semple, Reid, Miller, 2005). There have been studies on the uses of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in children. A majority of the studies on the uses of CBT ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One of the most important highlight of his meditations is method of doubt . In his first set meditations Descartes outlines the factors that determines doubt in a belief. This philosophy is not completely correct to me and not convincing that they are indubitable. Descartes eliminates the beliefs that many have created through reasoning, but his method of elimination is very broad. Multicultural In Canada Development of Canada as a multicultural nation In the early half of the 20th century, Canada was not known to be socially accepting of different races, nor were a lot of countries in the world at the time. However, after World War II, everything started to change. People started to stand up to these unfair rules, like the African Canadians and First Nations did. In other cases, like the Vietnamese, they were gradually accepted into the Canadian Society. Though the first nations had operated on Canadian soil long before any Europeans settled on the land, they were still disregarded in terms of importance in the early 20th century: Aboriginal policy was made by government without consulting Aboriginal people and with little public attention . This quote shows how First Nations people had no voice when it came to decisions made about them, or anything else in Canada for that matter. Aboriginals hated that they were being taken advantage of, and they felt like they were just a pawn in the government s game of chess. However, this started to change in the 1950s when public opinion became more informed and disturbed about Aboriginal poverty and marginality . The Aboriginals voice was finally heard in 1951, where the Indian Act was revised. Aboriginal representatives looked to further revise the Act in 1968, but the Government had other plans. In the Summer of 1969, the Government releases its proposal of The White Paper , which was a plan to terminate the Indian Act, and therefore Indian status, within the next 5 years. The Aboriginals refused to give in to the government s wishes, and fought hard to convince them of a different approach. The Government now saw for the first time of how the First Nations could put up a good fight. The government, who was now faced with multiple tough decisions, retreated on their harsh demands and ... My dad served in the Army for a few years, and he was in this position for a year while my family was back home living in Germany. Waiting became the custom for us; to hear from him, talk to him, and eventually see him again when he came home. My dad was sent off in 2010 to Afghanistan and I was about nine years old at the time he left. We, my family, had been slowly anticipating waiting his send off knowing that he had to leave soon, and it was hard, especially as a little 4th grader. Essay On Hydrocarbons Effective and economical production of hydrocarbons has gained great attention worldwide due to the increasing demand for oil and the challenges oil companies face to deliver more oil from their oilfields. Water flood is generally used as an economic and effective method in secondary mode recovery after primary (natural) driving mechanisms have been depleted. Generally, water flooding still leaves behind 60 70% of the oil initially in place (OIIP) inside the reservoir and Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) methods are introduced to produce further oil from the reservoir. The United States quickly followed, responding to the animal welfare groups; insisting that the government needed to act to prevent unnecessary cruelty to animals (Judson 20). This movement grew rapidly across the United States. In 1829, New York passed the first anticruelty law prohibiting the malicious injuring or killing or farm animals such as horses, oxen, cattle or sheep. By 1907, every single American state had passed anticruelty acts. By 1923, most states prohibited the practice of neglecting and abandonment, cockfighting, and some types of hunting methods of animals (Judson 21). Throughout the 1800s, animal welfare groups in Great Britain and the United States pushed for their governments to pass laws to protect animals from methods such as slaughter and animal experimentation. In 1824, welfare groups in London were already being formed. The first society was formed, called the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Guither 2). Later, in 1835, public policy was passed in Great Britain to consolidate and amend the several laws relation to the cruelty and improper treatment of animals (Guither 2). There have been more than 1,500 species of scorpions identified worldwide and there are only 25 of them venomous to humans and other organism. Scorpions venom has played a critical role in their survival due to its exceptional mixture of component which consists of enzymes, short peptides, simple amino acids and other chemical secreted from the venom glands. These short peptides (30 80 amino acid) are often identified and known as toxins that the scorpion use by means of self protection against other organisms. In recent decades, both medical and therapeutic fields turn their attention to study scorpions as significant laboratory animals due to their physiological characteristics. The different toxins produced by the venomous scorpions have opened new horizon towards using them to either design specific drugs and antibodies or find alternative tools in identifying a certain disease such as cancer. Although these toxins have different modes of actions and targets, the majority of them affect the nervous system and are classified as neurotoxins because they either alter specific ion channel binding and movement across cell membrane or affect neurotransmitter transmissions in the synaptic cleft. Security researchers claim that this new technology poses an even more serious threat, in that Google are now able to read its users messages both without their permission, and whether or not the messages have been opened. There have also been claims that spammers are able to email the same image to everyone, assigning every image with a unique url. Google responded by saying they offer a feature that allow users to opt out of displaying any images in emails. They also said that they can remove the proxy server if the image display was a problem, and require the user to press show images. Stereotypes In Twelfth Night William Shakespeare s Twelfth Night is a comedy about Viola, a woman who washes up in Illyria and then assumes the role of a man in order to be closer to Orsino, the man she wants to marry. Charles is of opinion that, the representation of homoerotic attraction in Twelfth Night functions rather as a means of dramatizing the socially constructed basis of a sexuality that is determined by gender identity (Charles 1997:122). As mentioned above, homosexuality was not acceptable in the Elizabethan society for the most part. It was even considered as sodomy. Before the twins, Viola and Sebastian, are married to heterosexual partners, both are involved in some form of homosexual relationship. While Oliva seems to be unaware of Cesario/Viola s true sex, the hint at the possibility of homoeroticism through dramatic irony is already enough to disrupt the stereotypical gender system. After Malvolio presents Viola/Cesario with Olivia s ring, Cesarios says, I am the man; if it be so, as tis,/Poor lady, she were better love a dream (Shakespeare 2004:84). Charles explains the best stating that dramatic irony tells us Oliva s true hidden passion is for the female character (Charles 1997:133). In addition she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
